There Are Four Main Types
1 Demodectic Or Red Mange
2 Sarcoptic Or Canine Mange
3 Chyletiolosis Or Walking Dandrif
4 Ear Mites
1 Demodectic Or Red Mange
 Caused by overgrowth of
Demodex Canis mite
 Present Throughout life
 Could be localized or
Generalized
 Non Zoonotic
 Non Contagious to dog
2 Sarcoptic Mange Or Canine
Scabies
 Caused by overgrowth of
Sarcoptes Scabei mite
 Highly Contagious &
Zoonotic
3 Chyletiolosis Or Walking
Dandruff

Transmission
 Close contact at least for 30 min.
 Crowding and poor healthcare.
 To avoid outbreaks in farms, Animals are Culled.
Symptoms
 Itching, Rash
 Pimple like rash (immune reaction
to female’s feeding & tunneling ).
 Severe itching at night
 Itching can occur in one or more
areas.
 Scratching can lead to secondary
infection.
 In Severe Case Scar Formation Occurs

 Acaricides ( substances that kill Arachnid <Mite> )
 Topical creams
 Dense Hot Itch lotion
 Blooming Pets Cream
 Applied for 8-12 hours, then removed
 Oral medication
 Ivermectin (200µg/kg)
