Interview With Norman Hore
Interview with Norman Hore, the Director of Education (and the founder) of Rapid English on
21/07/2016 Norman: I was extremely fortunate to meet the Education Officer from Reading Youth
Offending Service about 15 years ago and she became really enthusiastic. I was seconded to the
service and started to develop the Communication Course from the ground up. Therefore, Rapid
English was already a tried and tested paper based approach which then became increasingly an
interactive computer based system. Once this had proved its worth, other Youth Offending services
around the country requested to use the Communication Course. It is now used widely around the
country and notably in Nottingham which is, I imagine, how you heard about us . (Interview: ... Show

Previous strategies have proved to be ineffective and Nacro has campaigned for the Ministry of Justice
(MOJ) to implement a plan that would see the legislative provision demanding accountability and
constant monitoring of program efficacy. The provision should be that of inclusive terms, embracing
young women and the young black minority ethnic (BAME). For it to be feasible, both targeted
programs, whether in custody or in the community, they have to be culturally subtle to be able to
design person centred programs incorporating individual needs and aims. Nacro will always refer to
the (Harris Review 2015), from which it was concluded that every young person going through the
criminal justice system is susceptible. Also, in the review are recommendations which state that, by
putting young offenders in custody, this should always be the last action to be taken because the
recorded recidivism rates are said to be caused by custodial sentences. The above sentiments have
been welcomed by (Pettersson 2016), who argued that the young people s narratives are testimony of a
failed custodial system and a violation of a vital developmental path that adolescence inherently
nurture desistance. However, the program Beyond Youth Custody (BYC) is part of the Youth in Focus

A Brief Look at Walmart
Wally world also known as Walmart, is a corporate retail store that has made a major impact in people
lives in the United States and even around the world. Wal Mart is a great place to shop for variety of
products in short time or just to go window shopping with a group of friends. The items are well
organized throughout the store where you can see signs of the departments within the store. Another
advantage of Walmart is its low price. Wal Mart supports slogans like We sell for less and Always on
low price . As a large retail company, they have prices that are lower than local stores in your
neighborhood and they are certain that one could save money by shopping at Walmart. Yet, Walmart
has the tendency to be crowded, especially on the weekends that can make a shopping trip longer than
it needs to be. Even with the large parking lot, it seems like full every time I visited Wal Mart.
However, when I do find a spot to park my car, a camera on a light post is already watching me before
I even walk in the store. Once I walk out my car and lock it, I can see cameras all over the parking lot
as I make my way into the store. Furthermore, I can see a security guard riding around in a patrol car
within the parking lot. As I enter Walmart, an employee welcomes me to the store while I pass through
metal detectors and officially enter the store. Cameras on every isle as I shop for groceries on a regular
shopping trip, security seems like it is everywhere in and outside

Haversian Bone
Journal article write up Spatial organization of the haversian bone in man
The strength of the human bone depends on the microstructure contained inside. Every human bone
contains osteons, these are aligned in a certain way, osteonal orientation. Usually in humans they are
grouped in two antirotary system of opposite direction in the shaft of the bone (diaphysis). There is a
general hypothesis that the direction of these osteons is a functional adaptation and depends on the
direction of the first stress that acts on the bone. There are a few others who looked into this
hypothesis but they considered a sheep tibia. Here the writer of the article is trying to determine the
osteonal direction in a human femurs and evaluate the results to see if the above hypothesis was good.
In this study the angle of osteonal orientation was measured and also the direction. ... Show more

The adult bones had normal structure and polio affected the bone structure causing bending in the
diaphysis. To study the structure the primary layer was removed by electrical grounding, later India
ink was used to stain the structure of the bone. Then a metallographic paper was used on the structure
of the bone to give it a high lusture and then the structure was studied. The osteonal direction was
measured in the area where the bone had a nearly circular cross section. A cylindrical loading model
was used to compare the results to that of the femurs. The cylindrical model was loaded in with
bending force in the frontal plane and torque in the perpendicular

The Mysterious Arthur Conan Doyle
The Mysterious Arthur Conan Doyle Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was one of the most popular if not the
most iconic detective writer of his time. He wrote pieces such as The Speckled Band and The Final
Problem that sparked interest in one of the most popular detectives in history. The popularity for
Conan Doyle s Sherlock Holmes has lasted for generations and is why he is recognized as one of the
greatest detective writers of all time. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle adheres to the established principles of
Good Detective Stories, and that is why his stories are so successful and enduring. These features
include items such as the crime must be significant, the detective must be memorable, the criminal

160). When they arrive, it is soon clear to Holmes what is going on, and it does not take him long to
figure out who is behind it. That very night Holmes runs Julia s and Helen s potential killer back up
the rope and back to its master, Roylott, where it then kills him instead (Doyle, 1994, p. 171). Doyle
makes the crime significant to the reader because it involves a young woman who is in danger of
losing her life if someone does come and save her, and he makes it memorable too because it is
significant that Helen s own stepfather Roylott would be trying to murder her.
The Man with the Twisted Lip Doyle in The Man with the Twisted Lip describes to the readers a crime
spoken of by Holmes of a man named Neville St. Clair who has went missing without a trace. The
reader learns of no body being found, and leads some to suspect that Neville St. Clair might not even
be dead. This was the start of modern day cold cases. If you do not have a body it is kind of hard to
start an investigation. However, Holmes does what he can and makes the case interesting. Sherlock
Holmes states, there were no signs of violence upon any of these garments, and there were no traces of
Mr. Neville St. Clair (Doyle, 1994, p. 120). These garments Holmes speaks of belong to Mr. Neville
St. Clair, but there are no signs of violence towards him as saw by the state of his clothes. This then
furthers the significance of the crime because at first it seems to be a murder case, but

Identify That Moving Charged Particles In A Magnetic Field...
Ideas and Implementations:
1. Explain why the apparent inconsistent behaviour of cathode rays caused debate as to whether they
were charged particles or electromagnetic waves.
Arguments for cathode rays as waves.
Effectively unaffected by gravity (the extremely low mass makes it almost undetectable)
No obvious appearance to be deflected by electric fields
Could travel through certain thin sheets of metal (and were in fact so small they could travel through
the crystal lattice of some metals)
Produce florescence. Arguments for cathode rays as particles.
Do not reflect at equal angles
The rays are deflected by both magnetic and electric fields

Combining these two results Thompson was able to find out the mass charge ration of an electron.
9. Outline the role of electrodes in the electron gun, the deflection plates or coils and the fluorescent
screen in the cathode ray tube of conventional TV displays and oscilloscopes.
CATHODE RAY TUBE:
 Electron Gun used to produce fast moving streams of electrons. o The electrodes have two roles: 1)
emit electrons to form a stream 2) accelerate the electrons (accomplished by a very large potential
difference between the cathode and anode) o The anode has a hole in it to allow the stream of
electrons to leave the electron gun.
 Deflection system used to change the direction of the electron stream o For the electron beam to
create an image on the screen, the beam must sweep over the screen rapidly.
 This is accomplished by the deflection plates that guide the electron bean to particular parts of the
screen.
 Fluorescent Screen coated in phosphorus that emits light when struck by the electrons. o This
makes the position of the electron beam visible.

Views on Marriage and Divorce in Tolstoy s Anna Karenina...
Marriage and family are prevailing themes in the major works of Tolstoy. In War Peace the marriage
of Pierre to Hélène is later contrasted with that of Pierre s later marriage with Natasha (among others)
and in Anna Karenina, the novel is in some ways two separate stories of two separate marriages. On
one hand is the union between Levin and Kitty and on the other is Anna Arkádyevna and Alexéy
Karenin. One is a marriage coming together, while the other is one breaking apart. Based on the
characterization of the players involved, coupled with parallels to Tolstoy s own life it is possible to
discern his philosophy towards marriage and therefore why each character s fate was chosen at the
outset.
Although there are two main marriages in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From the first page we are given an image of marriage as an unhappy union contrasted with the love
struck Levin, who sees marriage as the apex of happiness and essential to his life.
Before we go on, it would be useful to show just how similar Tolstoy is to his protagonist, Levin, as he
embodies much of Tolstoy s philosophy while mirroring much of his life. The parallels begin with
Levin s interest in agriculture, its relation to the Russian peasant, and his love of country life. Prior to
Tolstoy s second year examinations at university, he left to settle at his ancestral estate in the country.
His plan was to improve the lot of his peasants, but could never surmount the distrust of the peasantry
(Maude, 45). This was similar to the attempt made by Levin to improve his peasants lives through
sharecropping and other innovations (part III, chapter 28, pg. 309). Like Levin s wife Kitty, Tolstoy s
wife Sonya was city bred and upon moving to the country had a difficult time adjusting. Both Sonya
and Kitty were thrown into being country mistresses, having very little familiarity with how to
properly do so, compounded by the unfamiliarity they felt with their husband s earlier lives. Although
the previous points establish a correlation, the most compelling parallel between Tolstoy and Levin
was their philosophies concerning life and the idealized family life: The fundamental aim

Bertrand Russell Rhetorical Analysis
Bertrand Russell argues that we should worship our good instinct, moral insights rather than
worshiping the evil god. He says we should create our own ideals and worship them. Russell explains
that worshiping our ideals gives us true freedom. As he says, in determination to worship only the god
created by our own love of the good, to respect only the heaven which inspires the insight of our best
moments (pg.51). I disagree with Russell s argument because worshiping our insights does not reflect
reality. Our personal ideals are not realistic. This paper will examine Russell s arguments of his
position of worshipping our good instincts rather than the universal power through his idea of
freedom, human virtue and by turning indignation to resignation. The second part of this paper will
critically analyze Russell s position.
Bertrand Russell is concerned with people, whom he calls savages worshipping the universal power.
These savages respect the power more than themselves because they find the power greater than
anything they see in themselves. Their thoughts and beliefs are of those the power devours. Russell
suggests that we should question whether the universal power deserves this respect. Russell concludes
that we must follow our very own good instinct, which will bring us true freedom rather than the
universal evil power. As he says, the vision of beauty is possible only to unfettered contemplation, to
thoughts not weighted by the load of eager wishes (pg.52).

Essay about D2 counselling
Counsellors do not offer advice as such but instead give an insight into a client s feelings and
behaviour and they help the client to change their behaviour accordingly. They do this by actively
listening to what the client has to say and comment from a professional perspective. Counsellors are
trained to be effective helpers, especially in sensitive and difficult situations. They have to be
independent, very neutral and professional as well as respecting the privacy and confidentiality of a
client. Counselling can help clients to clarify their problems, identify the changes they wish to make

This pushes responsibility back on the other person and increases commitment to the solution.
Decision making techniques can provide invaluable help to someone that is confused by helping them
to paint their scenario options and then looking into the future and imagining them playing out. The
client can then predict how their will manage this type of situation, how they would feel and how
successful this option may be. The counsellor should also explain how unproductive it is to stay
tortured about things and not come to a decision. Counsellors should help the client to sort through
what they need to consider and make a date in order to meet a certain and effective decision.
Counsellors should also analyse decisions and make sure the client has the necessary commitment to
carry them out. Counsellors should make client s realise that not all decisions will feel great,
sometimes they are the best of two painful outcomes and may involve a loss. If a decision is delayed
or must be delayed for any reason, a new date must be made for finalising it. Force field analysis is a
very useful decision making technique. It helps individuals to make decisions by analysing the forces
for and against a change and it helps them to communicate with the reasoning behind the decision. It
can be used for two purposes: to decide whether to go ahead with a change and to increase your
chances of success by strengthening the forces supporting the change

Writing In Ancient Egypt
Back in ancient times, the development of the first urban cultures was due to gradual changes and
advancements that contributed to a communal society. As agriculture and specialized jobs started to
become the norm in early cities, citizens began to realize that they were missing something that was
crucial to their productivity and organization: a system of writing and recordkeeping. While most
ancient civilizations created a form of writing, Mesopotamian and Egyptian societies utilized them for
more than just recordkeeping. These advancements serve as ancient origins of how we use written
language in the present day. While there are currently countless forms of writing in the modern age,
the concept of writing and literacy is treasured ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is one of the earliest religious texts of the empire and was an instructional guide that explains
how the pharaoh is going to pass into the afterlife. This source was probably composed in Egypt by a
native Egyptian male who was religious and of high status due to the important nature of the
document. Because it dealt directly with the pharaoh and his burial, this source was likely only read by
high ranking religious figures that performed the burial rituals. In addition, it was written in
hieroglyphics, which signifies its crucial purpose. There are many religious references in the text,
including ones that discuss Osiris, god of the underworld, and Horus, a god linked to life and kingship.
The Egyptians also seemed to think that specific burial rituals were sacred and heavily tied into
religion. This source is similar to Primary Source 2.1 in that it has to do with a great ruler with heavy
religious implications. However, it is different because it was written in a pyramid as opposed to a slab
or papyrus. Any writing in a pyramid was considered sacred and this source appears to be much more
important than the Mesopotamian one. The discovery of pyramids had a great impact on modern day
society and the decoding of the hieroglyphics with the Rosetta Stone was a linguistic marvel. Both
forms of Egyptian writing have helped modern societies and have brought us together; for example, it
is common to see writings similar to hieroglyphics in pyramids on current day monuments and tombs.
However, these two forms of writing have also encouraged diversity. Most modern societies speak
countless different languages, some of them even having formal and informal styles of writing, such
as the Japanese kanji and

Inaccuracies In Agora
Agora
There may have been some controversies about Hypatia s spiritual beliefs, however, her devotion,
knowledge, and perseverance can be admired by all. This movie depicted some accurate historical
facts and events surrounding the life of Hypatia in Alexandria. However, there were some inaccuracies
of events that were discovered. For example, The Great Library of Alexandria did not exist in during
this time period. During the center portion of the movie, there was a dramatized scene where the
Christians were attacking the Agora while the Pagans were in the library attempting to save the
important books. This was not a factual depiction of this event. The Great Library was actually built in
288 B.C. and destroyed in 48 B.C. The movie s setting is based around the 4th century A.D. which is a
clear indication that the library was no longer in existence.* Another example of the film s inaccuracy
is the account and event of Hypatia s death. In the film, her death was the result of her knowledge and
her ability to reason which labeled her as a witch. In addition, her death did not have anything to do
with her religious beliefs or the fact that she was a woman. Hypatia s death was due to politics. In the
film, a follower of Cyril threw a stone at Orestes, the man was arrested, tortured and later killed. In
revenge, the Christians became outraged and agreed to kill the person who Orestes loved most which
was Hypatia ( ). Therefore, the film s depiction of Hypatia being killed

other side of the coin, if everything was only seen and told from Watson s point of view there would
not be a very mysterious element about it. For example, when he is staying with Sir Henry at the moor
the story seems to drag because he only notices the obvious things that seem to be odd. If this was all
the story had to offer the audience might dislike Watson just as much as they would a solo Holmes.

Puritan Beliefs
Puritan view of Religion
God directed all the events by the exercise of his will and aimed at directing all these events to an
intelligent end.
Puritans placed emphasis on the righteousness and sovereignty of God.
Human beings were sinners who were not able to attain salvation and be pure in the eyes of God.
Puritans believed in predestination and that all human beings were to conform to divine law.
The Puritan role in society was to be the people of God and create another form of Jerusalem.
An individual should have an intimate relationship with God in order to redeem themselves from
harmful sin.
Puritans should become holy and set the example for those who remained in England to change their
sinful habits.
Puritans needed to associate themselves with the predestined elect (Puritans who were guaranteed
their way to heaven) to become an official member of the church.
Strictly avoided witchcraft related practices, as it went against God s expectations.
Believed in the Devil and his possession of members in society who did not withhold Puritan religious
views (specifically women and children).
Believed in the strict interpretation of the Bible, as it was God s work.

God s Benevolent Nature Of God In The Old Testament
Throughout the Old Testament, there are many clear examples that show God s benevolent nature and
portray him as a life giving force. For example, in Exodus 3:7 10, the LORD says that he has heard the
affliction of the Israelites and will deliver them from the oppression of Egypt through Moses. God also
says that he will lead them up from that land(Egypt) into a good and spacious land, a land flowing
with milk and honey, the country of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites,...etc. This presents a
God that wants to redeem his people and bring them back to a position of prosperity. From this, the
reader can conclude that God doesn t want his people to suffer. In addition to this example, the Bible
shows the reader other instances of God s loving nature. In the Book of Exodus, we can see how God
is a benevolent figure because of the promises he makes to Abraham and the Israelites if they fulfill
their side of the covenant. In Exodus 19:4 6, God tells the people that he will turn them into a nation
of priests and has lifted them up upon eagles wings . He even explicitly tells the Israelites that he will
fulfill his promises . Additionally,in Genesis 12:1 3, the LORD says Go forth from your land, your
relatives, and from your father s house to a land that I will show you. I will make of you a great
nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, so that you will be a blessing.I will bless

Aldous Huxley s Dystopian Society
In today s society, there are many distractions keeping people from acknowledging issues or topics
they d rather avoid. In the novel Brave New World, written in 1936, author Aldous Huxley constructs
a dystopian society based upon distraction. Similarly, in 1948, author George Orwell created his own
dystopia in the novel, 1984. Through both novels, the authors express their fears for the future. Social
critic Neil Postman differentiates their visions and claims that Huxley s vision of the future is more
relevant than Orwell s. Postman s assertion is extremely accurate, considering that in Brave New
World, the society Huxley created is full of distraction; from an obsession with sex to the constant use
of drugs, these coping mechanisms are still very relevant in today s society. In Brave New World,
Huxley emphasizes his dystopian society s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Kill A Mockingbird By Harper Lee Essay
The way that people understand their circumstances and surroundings is often directly correlated to
the way they perceive the world around them. An adult understands much more around him than a
child does because of the mature, more knowledgeable perception he has. Meanwhile, the child, while
not able to fully understand what she sees, often sees more than an adult because of the knowledge
hungry, curious perception she has. In the book To Kill a Mockingbird, the characters range in gender,
age, and intelligence. The narrator herself is a young elementary age child. She is extremely smart for
her age, but because of her limited exposure to the world, does not fully understand the seriousness
and danger of the story unfolding around her. While the book To Kill a Mockingbird covers many
controversial topics, perception and the change certain characters undergo that effects this perception
are the key to connecting many of them. One of the main characters in Too Kill a Mockingbird is Jem.
He is Scout s older brother. As the story is told, he ages, transitioning from a young boy into a
teenager. His perception of the world around him changes vastly as he ages, leaving curiosity behind
for a better understanding. At the beginning of the story, the reader is introduced to the unseen
character of Boo Radley. According to the adults around town, he is a recluse who never leaves his
home. However, Jem, Scout, and their friend Dill see him in a different light. Jem

The internalization of the thin ideal denotes a key cause of such dissatisfaction (Dittmar). Thin ideal
internalization is the degree to which a person will consciously accept a social definition of beauty,
and in turn take action to parallel these values (Thompson and Stice). The mass media is viewed by
countless body image experts as a particularly potent and pervasive root of thin ideal internalization
because of the notoriously unattainable idea of perfection it portrays (Boone et al.). Young girls and

The Impact of Divorce
The Impact of Divorce on Children

Abstract Unfortunately divorce is at an all time high around the world today and there aren t any signs

for the child or children involved as well. This paper reflects on the many different effects that divorce

experience family transitions such as divorce were less likely to succeed. (Ruschena, Prior, Sanson,

Excessive Uses Of Use Of Force By Police Officers
Use of force by Police Officers over the past few years has become a hot buttoned issue that is
constantly being discussed about. Due to the increase in technology, it seems that every scenario in
which an officer uses force is being filmed by either the general public or the body cameras worn by
officers. The City of Chandler takes pride in training their officers on use of force and it is explained
in great detail in the departments general orders.
To begin it s crucial that officers know they never should use more force than what would be
considered reasonable. An example of this would be if a suspect is struggling with you while you try
to handcuff them. It would be expected that you might use a moderate use of force such as pressure
points or putting them on the ground and controlling the movements of their body. However, using
deadly force would be an example of Excessive force and is a violation of department policy. The
Chandler Police Department stresses in their general orders that all human life is important and that
using excessive force violates this belief.
When it comes to use of force the department has outlined 3 levels. Level one being low level force.
Low level force starts from the moment you arrive at a scene. The officer s presence alone is
considered a use of force and at times can be a very effective one. Along with officer presence, verbal
direction is another aspect of low level force. This is when an officer uses verbal cues to direct the

Essay on Collective Bargaining in the Workplace
David Brody argues that the rise of contractual or collective bargaining relationships during the post
WWII era formalized the relationship between employers and unions. The use of collective bargaining
agreements to resolve workplace disputes weakened unions and the power of workers. Other actions,
such as using collection bargaining as a form of substitution for direct action and using it instead of
the strike for grievance and arbitration procedure served , also has weakened the unions and the power
of workers. The rise of contractual or collective bargaining relationships changed the dynamic of the
workplace, shifting the power from the union side to towards the employers. The perspective could

C. Wright Mills defines the meaning of work for white collar workers. A white collar worker is an
educated person who performs non manual, professional, managerial, or administrative work. He
states White Collar stands, after sixty years, as the most comprehensive work that American social
science has produced in the study of the new middle class. classifying white collar workers as the new
middle class full of intellectuals in intermediate positions, to what he describes as the enormous file of
clerical labor. C. Wright Mills connects the meaning of work for white collar workers to the types of
leisure activity they pursue. Modern white collar workers attach an extrinsic value to their wage work
because they work to live. Jobs have lost their intrinsic value due to the emptiness that comes with the
job. For example, white collar workers are subjected to manipulations and control of their superiors
thus in return; they lose their creativity and freedom of action.
White collar workers are a different breed of workers. The results derived from work that modern
white collar workers value includes status, power and wages. At times, these white collar jobs hold no
true meaning to white collar workers rather it the monetary value that drives productivity. This money

The Career Leadership As A Foundation For One s Leadership
The Career Leadership Academy (CLA) undoubtedly provides practical, real world knowledge that

students to combine what they have learned to better themselves as individuals, leaders, and team

Many philosophies are established during our upbringings, and personal experiences. A family, for
instance, is like a team in many ways. We have to collaborate, encourage, and motivate one another to
strengthen our cohesiveness. The unbelievable bonds formed within a family are naturally created
during a process. As stated from Leadership and Professionalism, collaboration s purpose is to create a
shared vision and joint strategies to address concerns that go beyond the purview of any particular
party (Anderson and Bolt, 2013, p.36). I have found that my experiences with CLA correlate with this
idea. As time progressed, our group began to understand each other, and utilize our strengths to
maximize efficiency. This is because we became more comfortable with each other, learned how to
constructively criticize one another, and developed a productive system. My views on the process
obviously go far beyond my experiences in this class, but the experiences have undoubtedly reassured
my philosophy. The Relational Leadership Model provides many ideas that can guide one s
philosophy about leadership, but there are many other concepts that can equally contribute. At the

Theories Of Natural Selection And Psychoanalytic...
Charles Darwin and Sigmund Freud are both widely known respectively for their natural selection and
psychoanalytic personality theories. Charles Darwin helped further the field of evolutionary

about whether it is real. Darwin s natural selection theory talks about how organisms adapt to survive
and the two types of sexual selection which is intersexual and intrasexual selection. Freud s theory of
psychoanalytic personality talks about how the id, ego, and superego affects our behavior and talks
about how our unconscious is a very important aspect in our lives. Both theories comprehensiveness,

Those that survive these forces, passes it on to their offspring and increases their survivability during
these conditions while those that don t survive these forces, dies off and their genes don t pass off to
future generations. These things listed above regarding natural selection shows that organisms adapt to
survive. Darwin also proposed that there are two types of sexual selection which is intrasexual
competition and intersexual selection. Intrasexual competition is when two of the same species that is
of the same sex go against each other and the winner has a higher selection of mates. Usually the
winner has better qualities that help increase survivability. They pass their genes on to future
generations which helps increase survivability over the whole species eventually. Intersexual selection
is when mates are chosen because of the certain qualities that an organism is looking for. Species with
the characteristics desired tend to mate more which means most of those genes carry over to future
generations. Genes tend to slowly disappear from the species if they don t mate as often. The
psychoanalytic personality theory is composed of three structures of the mind: the id, ego, and
superego. According to Freud, we are born with the id and is where all our urges and drives occur. We
just want whatever we want and want it right then and there. This is called the pleasure principle.

The Importance Of Education And Student Success
Success is different from one person to another. Most people earn their success through hard work and
dedication in order to achieve success. Before I began to do research on student success my
assumptions were that several students only worried about themselves and their education and that
other people or schools did not push them to do better in school. Also before I began to do research,
another assumption of mine about student success was that education was similar around the whole
world. The type of research that was conducted to find ways of education and student success was
done by reading several articles and watching a documentary. Anaheim schools can improve student
success by having fewer summer vacations and having longer school hours. Another way that
Anaheim schools can improve student success is by having a growth mindset so they can know how
much effort they put on there work when facing challenges. Finally the last way to improve student
success at Anaheim schools is by requiring students to take extracurricular activities after school like
joining a sport, dance, any school clubs, band and more. But several students believe that researchers
misunderstand other students when it comes to being successful.
Education is extremely important, but some things in our education system are not working in

Differences Of Crito By Plato And Leviathan By Hobbes
Theodore Roosevelt once said, justice consists not in being neutral between right and wrong, but in

from the Latin word jus, which means right. The word justice, according to the Oxford Dictionary, is
defined as just behavior or treatment, quality of being fair and reasonable, and the administration of
the law or authority in maintaining this. There are many concepts linked with the term, and many

explanation of nature of man craving power, Socrates seems to be portraying the opposite. He is just

it, but with Crito s persuasion, we can see Socrates give escaping a thought. But then when he goes

no matter if it is just or unjust. When Socrates considered escaping prison with Crito s help and

Socrates will be able to gain the freedom and power, while deserting the injustice he was going to

She has begun to grow breasts and now knows that she is being noticed by others who are also aware
of her new body. She has not been able to embrace these changes due to her disappointment in the
color of her skin. Her lack of self confidence leaves her vulnerable to the unwanted advances of the
opposite sex. She has not had someone to take the time and explain why the changes are happening or
what they mean.
The opposite is true for the girl in Child of the Americas . This girl is growing into a woman that likes
that she is different. Spanish is my flesh, Ripples from my tongue, lodges in my hips: the language of
garlic and mangoes, the singing of poetry, the flying gestures of my hands . (Morales 8, 9, 10) She
notices the Spanish look of her body and voice. She loves the latino flare she has, the sharp tongue and
quick witt that she has developed. She embraces that her hips are curvy and her body is that of a
beautiful woman; brought on by her heritage. She is a sassy multicultural woman.
Smith poem says, its growing tall and wearing a lot of white . White for this black girl is a symbol for
everything that is right and good in the world. Everything that is beautiful is white. White is seen as
clean and pure. She has been taught that black

Can Rotavirus Cause Disease
There are several known mechanisms by which rotavirus can cause disease. Rotaviruses, primarily
infect mature intestinal epithelial cells on the apices of the small intestinal villi. Destruction of
infected cells and subsequent development of villus atrophy reduces digestion and absorption of fluid
and nutrients, resulting in secretory diarrhea with loss of fluids and electrolytes into the intestinal
lumen, which is explained by the transport of electrolytes from the intestine is severely damaged,
resulting in a high osmotic pressure, which subsequently disrupts the absorption of water in the colon.
Second, non structural protein 4 has been shown to act as an enterotoxin secreted by rotavirus infected
cells 34. Administration of non structural

Theme Of Gentleman In To Kill A Mockingbird
A gentleman treats other people in a proper way and is a chivalrous, courteous, or honorable man,
according to Merriam Webster. In To Kill a Mockingbird, Jem learns these qualities of a gentleman
through the indelible impact of his father, Atticus. His character develops throughout the story with his
relationship with Scout, his sister, and with his views on people and situations in Maycomb. The
growth of Jem and Scout s relationship shows understanding of Atticus definition of a gentleman. At
the beginning of the story, Jem was mostly worried about his own stubborn self. This is shown when
Jem pushes Scout super fast in a tire because she didn t agree with his statement on Hot Steams. Scout
narrates, Until it happened I did not realize that Jem was offended by my contradicting him on Hot
Steams, and that he was patiently waiting an opportunity to reward me (Lee 49). In other words, Jem
needed to be in control and prove a point to Scout that he was right. This quote shows Jem s
stubbornness and unwillingness to protect Scout due to his lack of gentleman tendencies. At this point
in the story, Jem is not mature enough to learn from Atticus but that eventually changes. Towards the
end, Jem and Scout were on their way home from the Halloween pageant when Jem heard something
but didn t tell Scout. Scout ponders, I wondered what he was thinking. He d tell me when he wanted
to, probably when we got home. I felt his fingers press the top of my costume, too hard, it seemed

Scapular Position
Article one is a study where they examined the influence of scapular position on the core muscles
during a prone plank. The study was conducted to test the electromyography activity in connection
with the scapular position. The limitations of the study are not clear to me. After reading the study
though I would say that the bodies of the participants could be a limitation. Human individuals are
able to withstand different things within the own comfort. The ADRET seemed to be the most
changeling for the participants, due to the posterior pelvic tilt position. With the pelvic tilt creating and
maintaining tension and posture within the body. Discussing the pelvic tilt and the different type of
this that might affect the spine I didn t realize ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is a good feeling when I am able to recall and use what I have learned to help my residents in my
current work position. I feel like it will benefit me now more than later. Being a CNA in rehab and a
manager for the girls basketball team has me working with elderly, which in most cases have weak
muscles versus young adult athletics. When trying to build muscle or even doing common exercises,
each individual s muscles are able to withstand a different amount. Finding something that works well
for everyone can be challenging. I would recommend the ABRET for the standard plank position. This
position allows the muscle within the body to work together to reach a common goal. With the dorsal
section of the body being as flat as possible all the muscles and able to use the strength of those
around it to maintain posture, to prevent tears or injury. The measurements of the rating of perceived
exertion (RPE) were taking to assure that the perceived effort was only on the plank assessment that
was being tested at that given time. I feel like it was a good way to test the position but, I also feel like
the data could be

Interview With Norman Hore Interview with Norman Hore, the Director of Education (and the founder) of Rapid English on 21/07/2016 Norman: I was extremely fortunate to meet the Education Officer from Reading Youth Offending Service about 15 years ago and she became really enthusiastic. I was seconded to the service and started to develop the Communication Course from the ground up. Therefore, Rapid English was already a tried and tested paper based approach which then became increasingly an interactive computer based system. Once this had proved its worth, other Youth Offending services around the country requested to use the Communication Course. Previous strategies have proved to be ineffective and Nacro has campaigned for the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) to implement a plan that would see the legislative provision demanding accountability and constant monitoring of program efficacy. The provision should be that of inclusive terms, embracing young women and the young black minority ethnic (BAME). For it to be feasible, both targeted programs, whether in custody or in the community, they have to be culturally subtle to be able to design person centred programs incorporating individual needs and aims. Nacro will always refer to the (Harris Review 2015), from which it was concluded that every young person going through the criminal justice system is susceptible. Also, in the review are recommendations which state that, by putting young offenders in custody, this should always be the last action to be taken because the recorded recidivism rates are said to be caused by custodial sentences. The above sentiments have been welcomed by (Pettersson 2016), who argued that the young people s narratives are testimony of a failed custodial system and a violation of a vital developmental path that adolescence inherently nurture desistance. Wal Mart is a great place to shop for variety of products in short time or just to go window shopping with a group of friends. The items are well organized throughout the store where you can see signs of the departments within the store. Another advantage of Walmart is its low price. Wal Mart supports slogans like We sell for less and Always on low price . As a large retail company, they have prices that are lower than local stores in your neighborhood and they are certain that one could save money by shopping at Walmart. Yet, Walmart has the tendency to be crowded, especially on the weekends that can make a shopping trip longer than it needs to be. Even with the large parking lot, it seems like full every time I visited Wal Mart. However, when I do find a spot to park my car, a camera on a light post is already watching me before I even walk in the store. Once I walk out my car and lock it, I can see cameras all over the parking lot as I make my way into the store. Furthermore, I can see a security guard riding around in a patrol car within the parking lot. He wrote pieces such as The Speckled Band and The Final Problem that sparked interest in one of the most popular detectives in history. The popularity for Conan Doyle s Sherlock Holmes has lasted for generations and is why he is recognized as one of the greatest detective writers of all time. That very night Holmes runs Julia s and Helen s potential killer back up the rope and back to its master, Roylott, where it then kills him instead (Doyle, 1994, p. 171). Doyle makes the crime significant to the reader because it involves a young woman who is in danger of losing her life if someone does come and save her, and he makes it memorable too because it is significant that Helen s own stepfather Roylott would be trying to murder her. The Man with the Twisted Lip Doyle in The Man with the Twisted Lip describes to the readers a crime spoken of by Holmes of a man named Neville St. Clair who has went missing without a trace. The reader learns of no body being found, and leads some to suspect that Neville St. Clair might not even be dead. This was the start of modern day cold cases. If you do not have a body it is kind of hard to start an investigation. However, Holmes does what he can and makes the case interesting. Sherlock Holmes states, there were no signs of violence upon any of these garments, and there were no traces of Mr. Neville St. Clair (Doyle, 1994, p. 120). These garments Holmes speaks of belong to Mr. Neville St. Clair, but there are no signs of violence towards him as saw by the state of his clothes. In War Peace the marriage of Pierre to Hélène is later contrasted with that of Pierre s later marriage with Natasha (among others) and in Anna Karenina, the novel is in some ways two separate stories of two separate marriages. On one hand is the union between Levin and Kitty and on the other is Anna Arkádyevna and Alexéy Karenin. One is a marriage coming together, while the other is one breaking apart. From the first page we are given an image of marriage as an unhappy union contrasted with the love struck Levin, who sees marriage as the apex of happiness and essential to his life. Before we go on, it would be useful to show just how similar Tolstoy is to his protagonist, Levin, as he embodies much of Tolstoy s philosophy while mirroring much of his life. The parallels begin with Levin s interest in agriculture, its relation to the Russian peasant, and his love of country life. Prior to Tolstoy s second year examinations at university, he left to settle at his ancestral estate in the country. His plan was to improve the lot of his peasants, but could never surmount the distrust of the peasantry (Maude, 45). This was similar to the attempt made by Levin to improve his peasants lives through sharecropping and other innovations (part III, chapter 28, pg. 309). Like Levin s wife Kitty, Tolstoy s wife Sonya was city bred and upon moving to the country had a difficult time adjusting. Both Sonya and Kitty were thrown into being country mistresses, having very little familiarity with how to properly do so, compounded by the unfamiliarity they felt with their husband s earlier lives. Although the previous points establish a correlation, the most compelling parallel between Tolstoy and Levin was their philosophies concerning life and the idealized family life: The fundamental aim ... • 8. Bertrand Russell Rhetorical Analysis Bertrand Russell argues that we should worship our good instinct, moral insights rather than worshiping the evil god. He says we should create our own ideals and worship them. Russell explains that worshiping our ideals gives us true freedom. As he says, in determination to worship only the god created by our own love of the good, to respect only the heaven which inspires the insight of our best moments (pg.51). I disagree with Russell s argument because worshiping our insights does not reflect reality. Our personal ideals are not realistic. This paper will examine Russell s arguments of his position of worshipping our good instincts rather than the universal power through his idea of freedom, human virtue and by turning indignation to resignation. The second part of this paper will critically analyze Russell s position. Bertrand Russell is concerned with people, whom he calls savages worshipping the universal power. These savages respect the power more than themselves because they find the power greater than anything they see in themselves. Their thoughts and beliefs are of those the power devours. Russell suggests that we should question whether the universal power deserves this respect. Russell concludes that we must follow our very own good instinct, which will bring us true freedom rather than the universal evil power. As he says, the vision of beauty is possible only to unfettered contemplation, to thoughts not weighted by the load of eager wishes (pg.52). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As agriculture and specialized jobs started to become the norm in early cities, citizens began to realize that they were missing something that was crucial to their productivity and organization: a system of writing and recordkeeping. While most ancient civilizations created a form of writing, Mesopotamian and Egyptian societies utilized them for more than just recordkeeping. Because it dealt directly with the pharaoh and his burial, this source was likely only read by high ranking religious figures that performed the burial rituals. In addition, it was written in hieroglyphics, which signifies its crucial purpose. There are many religious references in the text, including ones that discuss Osiris, god of the underworld, and Horus, a god linked to life and kingship. The Egyptians also seemed to think that specific burial rituals were sacred and heavily tied into religion. This source is similar to Primary Source 2.1 in that it has to do with a great ruler with heavy religious implications. However, it is different because it was written in a pyramid as opposed to a slab or papyrus. Any writing in a pyramid was considered sacred and this source appears to be much more important than the Mesopotamian one. The discovery of pyramids had a great impact on modern day society and the decoding of the hieroglyphics with the Rosetta Stone was a linguistic marvel. Both forms of Egyptian writing have helped modern societies and have brought us together; for example, it is common to see writings similar to hieroglyphics in pyramids on current day monuments and tombs. During the center portion of the movie, there was a dramatized scene where the Christians were attacking the Agora while the Pagans were in the library attempting to save the important books. Puritans believed in predestination and that all human beings were to conform to divine law. The Puritan role in society was to be the people of God and create another form of Jerusalem. An individual should have an intimate relationship with God in order to redeem themselves from harmful sin. Puritans should become holy and set the example for those who remained in England to change their sinful habits. Puritans needed to associate themselves with the predestined elect (Puritans who were guaranteed their way to heaven) to become an official member of the church. Strictly avoided witchcraft related practices, as it went against God s expectations. Believed in the Devil and his possession of members in society who did not withhold Puritan religious views (specifically women and children). • 24. God s Benevolent Nature Of God In The Old Testament Throughout the Old Testament, there are many clear examples that show God s benevolent nature and portray him as a life giving force. For example, in Exodus 3:7 10, the LORD says that he has heard the affliction of the Israelites and will deliver them from the oppression of Egypt through Moses. God also says that he will lead them up from that land(Egypt) into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey, the country of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites,...etc. This presents a God that wants to redeem his people and bring them back to a position of prosperity. From this, the reader can conclude that God doesn t want his people to suffer. In addition to this example, the Bible shows the reader other instances of God s loving nature. In the Book of Exodus, we can see how God is a benevolent figure because of the promises he makes to Abraham and the Israelites if they fulfill their side of the covenant. In Exodus 19:4 6, God tells the people that he will turn them into a nation of priests and has lifted them up upon eagles wings . He even explicitly tells the Israelites that he will fulfill his promises . Additionally,in Genesis 12:1 3, the LORD says Go forth from your land, your relatives, and from your father s house to a land that I will show you. I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, so that you will be a blessing.I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you. All the ... In the novel Brave New World, written in 1936, author Aldous Huxley constructs a dystopian society based upon distraction. Similarly, in 1948, author George Orwell created his own dystopia in the novel, 1984. Through both novels, the authors express their fears for the future. Social critic Neil Postman differentiates their visions and claims that Huxley s vision of the future is more relevant than Orwell s. Postman s assertion is extremely accurate, considering that in Brave New World, the society Huxley created is full of distraction; from an obsession with sex to the constant use of drugs, these coping mechanisms are still very relevant in today s society. • 26. Kill A Mockingbird By Harper Lee Essay The way that people understand their circumstances and surroundings is often directly correlated to the way they perceive the world around them. An adult understands much more around him than a child does because of the mature, more knowledgeable perception he has. Meanwhile, the child, while not able to fully understand what she sees, often sees more than an adult because of the knowledge hungry, curious perception she has. In the book To Kill a Mockingbird, the characters range in gender, age, and intelligence. The narrator herself is a young elementary age child. She is extremely smart for her age, but because of her limited exposure to the world, does not fully understand the seriousness and danger of the story unfolding around her. While the book To Kill a Mockingbird covers many controversial topics, perception and the change certain characters undergo that effects this perception are the key to connecting many of them. One of the main characters in Too Kill a Mockingbird is Jem. He is Scout s older brother. As the story is told, he ages, transitioning from a young boy into a teenager. His perception of the world around him changes vastly as he ages, leaving curiosity behind for a better understanding. At the beginning of the story, the reader is introduced to the unseen character of Boo Radley. According to the adults around town, he is a recluse who never leaves his home. Thin ideal internalization is the degree to which a person will consciously accept a social definition of beauty, and in turn take action to parallel these values (Thompson and Stice). The mass media is viewed by countless body image experts as a particularly potent and pervasive root of thin ideal internalization because of the notoriously unattainable idea of perfection it portrays (Boone et al.). Young girls and women are plagued every day by images of pin thin, underweight women, not so subtle implications of the standard of attractiveness that they feel expected to meet, and are made to feel inadequate when they inevitably fail. Due to the increase in technology, it seems that every scenario in which an officer uses force is being filmed by either the general public or the body cameras worn by officers. The City of Chandler takes pride in training their officers on use of force and it is explained in great detail in the departments general orders. To begin it s crucial that officers know they never should use more force than what would be considered reasonable. An example of this would be if a suspect is struggling with you while you try to handcuff them. It would be expected that you might use a moderate use of force such as pressure points or putting them on the ground and controlling the movements of their body. However, using deadly force would be an example of Excessive force and is a violation of department policy. The Chandler Police Department stresses in their general orders that all human life is important and that using excessive force violates this belief. When it comes to use of force the department has outlined 3 levels. Level one being low level force. Low level force starts from the moment you arrive at a scene. Darwin also proposed that there are two types of sexual selection which is intrasexual competition and intersexual selection. Intrasexual competition is when two of the same species that is of the same sex go against each other and the winner has a higher selection of mates. Usually the winner has better qualities that help increase survivability. They pass their genes on to future generations which helps increase survivability over the whole species eventually. Intersexual selection is when mates are chosen because of the certain qualities that an organism is looking for. Species with the characteristics desired tend to mate more which means most of those genes carry over to future generations. Genes tend to slowly disappear from the species if they don t mate as often. The psychoanalytic personality theory is composed of three structures of the mind: the id, ego, and superego.
