Ohio s school voucher program is constitutional, as decided by the U.S. Supreme Court. In the
article, Chief Justice Rehnquist is quoted saying the voucher program is constitutional, because the
choice of where the government money will go lies with the parents. Therefore, the government is
not deciding whether or not to support religious schools. However, Justice Souter observed that
ninety six percent of the students who received the vouchers then attended a religious school.

5. Warrantless Searches
How Do We Justify Warrantless Searches?
1)Law enforcement officers can conduct warrantless searches for a variety of reasons. Some of
the benefits are not having to wait for a judge of magistrate to sign off on it. If you can obtain
consent from an individual it must be voluntary and stay within its scope, as well as the person
giving consent must have the authority to do so. The search incident to lawful arrest exception is
used every time an officer makes an arrest, this is to ensure their safety, prevent escape, and
prevent destruction of evidence. This could be a body search, or a search within the area within a
person s immediate control. Police may use warrantless searches when exigent circumstances
arise, such as when a warrant may be impractical, useless, dangerous, or unnecessary. These
include danger of physical harm to officer or destruction of evidence, searches in hot pursuit of
dangerous suspects, danger to a third person, and driving while intoxicated. Police can also use the
special needs beyond law enforcement exception for public school searches, testing students for
drugs, airport searches and searches of probationers and parolees.
2)To balance an individual s rights against the 4th amendment, as well as protect the interests of
Law Enforcement there are a few things we need to do. The officer needs ... Show more content on

Based on the CDA and corpus linguistics theories and gender studies, this study conducts an
analysis of how the descriptions and representations of rape incidents and the offenders and
victims in the discourse of rape cases have influence in the determination of rape cases in terms of
the court appeal decision. In particular, this study focuses on the discourse of appealdecisions on

The analysis reveals that the legal decision on rape cases are greatly affected by the languages
used to depict and represent the appellant by the defense council. Depending on the lexical
descriptions of the characteristics and behaviors of the offenders and victims, the judging cases
are broadly categorized into two spheres: hard criminals and psychologically disturbed . In the
cases that are classified as hard criminals as the description of the offenders were the ones with
sexually violent and out of control tendencies, and strangers to the victims such as violent sexual
crime , and danger to female members of the public , thus, pose a great threat to the public. On the
other hand, the cases that are seen as psychologically disturbed , the appellants in the discourse of

7. George S. Patton Rhetorical Leadership
Respected by most, yet feared by many, General George S. Patton was one of the most profound
leaders the United States Army has ever had. He took part throughout the Mexican Revolution,
World War One, and dominating the stage throughout World War Two. His career as an officer took
stage shortly after his graduation from The United States ArmyMilitary Academy, where he
branched as a cavalry officer (Patton, Wikipedia, 2017). Inpatient and young, he eventually went
on his first deployment as a lieutenant to take part in the battle of San Miguelito. It was in
Mexico that Patton met General John Joseph Pershing, where it is believed that he based a lot of
his military leadership styles on the way Pershing led his troops (Pershing, Wikipedia, 2017).
Through imitating Pershing, George had some of the most courageous leadership styles known
widely throughout, where many praised his bravery, yet several found him foolish. Following the
battle of San Miguelito, Patton was promoted to Captain and appointed by General Pershing to the
head of the new AEF Tank Corps. (Pershing, Wikipedia, 2017). It was throughout the process of
developing the AEF Tank Corps. that I feel Patton demonstrated his most profound adaptive
leadership trait, drive. George Patton was driven in anything and everything he did for the AEF
Tank Corps. He implemented his own ideas, tactics, design, uniform, and procedures in a way that
revolutionized war (PATTON 360, 2015). The United States

8. Breast Lift Research Paper
A breast lift, referred to also as a mastopexy, is a form of cosmetic surgery that raises and firms
the bosom. It does this by the removal of excess skin. Once the unnecessary skin is taken away
from the chest, the surrounding tissue is then tightened and is reshaped by the doctor. This process
will support the new contour of the breast. Having this procedure will enhance your appearance if
the upper half of your body has dropped and no longer looks as if it is situated where it once was.
Over the course of time, a woman s breasts change. The youthful firmness and shape that you once
enjoyed can disappear. In its place, you can be left with droopy and sagging breasts that suffer
from a loss of skin elasticity. This can occur as a result of fluctuations in weight, pregnancy, ...

A breast lift is a viable option for the female patient who is physically healthy and has maintained
a stable weight for an extended period of time. It is also the right choice for the woman who is
bothered by sagging breasts that have lost their volume and shape. If your chest is flatter, is
pendulous looking, or has an elongated shape, you may make an eligible candidate. Having
realistic expectations about the procedure is important. It is also recommended that a person who
decides to have this operation does not smoke.
If after your take your brassiere off, your nipples drop below the crease in your bosom, this may be
a suitable procedure that will enhance your upper body. If your nipples and your areolas point in
a downward direction or if you have enlarged areolas or stretched skin across your bosom, a
breast lift could improve your figure. If one of your breasts hangs lower than the other, a

Sickle cell anemia is not only about the body s number of red blood cells (or amount of
hemoglobin) fallen below normal, it s also involves splenic sequestration, vision loss, a stroke,
deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism, gallstones, a very rare form of kidney cancer,
etc. Many different complications feed off of sickle cell anemia, if it s not one thing it s
another. There is not a specific treatment for this disease to make it go away, but as I listed above
there are ways of helping with the pain. It is natural to be scared of catching this disease that is
not contagious, but the person who has the disease is the one who needs to be worrying more
about staying away from those who do not have the disease. Sickle cell anemia causes those to
have a higher rick for infection. They have to take precaution with the food they eat, to be sure
food was prepared safely. Those are the therapeutic ways doctors have helped sickle cell patients
today, in the past there were different therapeutic approaches. Sickle cell disease wasn t yet
discovered until the early 1900 s. This disease has been well known in Africa for at least five
thousand years and known by many names in many tribal languages. (WILLIAM P WINTER)

was happening primarily in those of African Origin. Not until the 1950 s did a chemist, Dr. Linus

12. The Career Technical Education Model Curriculum Standards
ABSTRACT
Today s economy demands a better educated workforce than ever before, and jobs in this new
economy require more complex knowledge and skills than the jobs of the past. The California
Department of Education and the California State Board of Education are pleased to present the
California Career Technical Education Framework for California Public Schools, Grades Seven
through Twelve. The California Career Technical Education Model Curriculum Standards, Grades
Seven Through Twelve, adopted by the State Board of Education (SBE) in 2005, was designed to
help achieve that goal by providing educators with rigorous, balanced standards reflecting both the
essential knowledge needed to achieve a seamless transition to careers or postsecondary education
or training and the specific skills required for each of the state s 58 career pathways.
This publication, the Career Technical Education Framework for California Public Schools, is the
blueprint for educators to use in implementing the career technical education (CTE) model
curriculum standards adopted by the SBE. It provides a context for the content laid out by the
standards, discusses best practices, and explores important issues in the implementation of those
standards.

Vassar College was founded by Matthew Vassar in 1865 as an all woman s school. Vassar, a
wealthy man with no children was prepared to give his money to build a hospital that would
immortalize his name, but Milo Jewett convinced him it would create a bigger legacy to build a
college for women (Vassar admissions). Vassar agreed with Jewett and set about planning the school
. He wanted to produce well rounded women that would eventually graduate from a college that
would be considered the female equivalent of Harvard. The young women attending the college
would receive all well rounded, useful degree in liberal arts. This was uncommon during that time
period because most ladies attended an all girls seminary school instead of a college. Even though
the college provided a liberal arts educationit still ran under many of the same governances as the
seminary schools had. This created a strange mix between a college and seminary school which
changed the way the architecture and the policy of the school were shaped. Jewett and Vassar
wanted to provide a liberal arts education to young women but they still believed that the young
women needed to be protected. At first Jewett only wanted to hire male professors for his school
believing they would be the individuals best equipped to educate the students (Kluge 36). Not only
did this idea counter the belief that women could learn the same material as men it also was seen
as improper. Many people of that time period believed that the

Neurodegenerative Disorders:

Abstract There is a growing need for treatment of gangliosidoses, or the increase in lipid storage
in cells. Diseases such as Tay Sach s, Sandhoff disease, Alzheimer s and HIV are at the forefront
of research into how these cells affect different aspects of the body. Gangliosides, the cells that
store lipids, are often found in neural tissue. This is the basis for research into these diseases and
possible treatment. This review examines the causes of such ... Show more content on

What Are the Root Causes of Gangliosidosis? Gangliosidosis is defined as monosialic gangliosides
found in the outer edge of plasma membranes and intracellular membranes. Gangliosides are
involved in the development, differentiation, and function of the nervous system (Ohmi et al,
2011). The lack of gangliosides can result in defects in nervous tissues and neurodegeneration.
The two major types of gangliosides are GM1 and GM2. These are the focus in the studies
presented. According to B. Bisel, B. S. Pavone, and M. Calamai, (2014) GM1 in membrane raft
domains has been shown to influence the functions of lipid raft associated proteins. (p. 88) GM1
gangliosides also aid in the formation of cell cell junctions which help with cell adhesion,
migration, and the invasion of cancers cells in metastasis. Accumulation of gangliosides can be
detrimental to lysosomal storage and can be caused by defects in the catabolic pathway.
Overabundances of GM1 gangliosides are predominantly associated with Alzheimer s disease,
whereas depletion is associated with Parkinson s disease and Huntington s disease. Hydrolysis of
GM2 ganglioside is catalyzed in lysosomes by ОІ hexosaminidase A (HEXA) and a non enzymic
factor, GM2 activator (GM2A), is essentially required in the catabolic reaction in vivo.

16. Relationship Between Communication And Errors
Solution Description The relationship between communication and errors has been well
established in the healthcare setting, affecting patient safety and placing the organization in a
position of risk (Friesen, Hughes and Zorn, 2007; Wasserman, 2014, Sears et al, 2013). Errors
still occur, however, and there is a focus on how healthcare can learn from the behaviors of high
reliability industries (Verschoor et al, 2007). One such behavior is that of a Safety Briefing
(DSB), through which an organization empowers every employee to be able to report issues
that have an effect, or potential effect on safety processes (Kelly, 2013; Rice, 2013; Steelman,
2014). The members of the DSB then have the responsibility for identification of poor processes,
system failures and remediation of issues. Safety issues arise in this organization on a daily basis
and are reported through an interdisciplinary online tool. Each occurrence report is written by a
staff member and routed to the department supervisor. This supervisor forwards the report to any
other relevant departments for their review. So, for example, if a patient is admitted to the
intensive care unit (ICU) from the operating room (OR) with a pressure ulcer, the event is written
up by the ICU staff and routed to the ICU supervisor, who then forwards to the ICU manager, the
OR manager, the surgeon and the anesthesiologist. Each staffed area has an identified responsible
person to follow up on any issue that may affect the patients

The official name of Mexico is Mexican United States. Mexico is primarily a federal republic
based on presidential democracy.* It is a country with solid and independent executive, legislative,

receives the most votes but not necessarily more than half of the votes. This president serves a term
of six years; however, unlike most Latin American countries, there is no second term available.
There are three main political parties that are seen throughout Mexico. The first is the National
Action Party, or PAN (Partido Accion Nacional). The National Action Party is a conservative liberal
party that is seen as one with close ties to the Roman Catholic Church. Generally, PAN supports
minimal government intervention in the economy. The National Action Party was founded in
1939, mainly consisting of support from the northern parts of the country entailing the urban middle
class. PAN represents the interests of business and of the Roman Catholic Church. PAN was the
main opposition party to the ruling Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) for six decades after
being founded, until the late 1980s where it fared poorly at all levels. Another political party in

In the novel Guns, Germs, and Steel, by Jared Diamond, it is emphasized how the modern world
holds an utmost array of differences among societies. Those of Eurasian origin greatly influence the
world of power and wealth. However, other people such as Africans, fought off against European
colonial dictatorship, lack such influence and wealth. And other people, including the Aboriginal
Australians, no longer rule their own land. Rather, they have become decimated and subjugated by
European colonists. Food production, technology, and the decisions made by varying continents
played a role in the fates of societies. Geographic features, along with other factors, dictated the
development of guns, germs, and steel.

What Diamond failed to discuss is the political decisions made to engage in European imperialism,
to construct steel and guns, and to utilize disease as a weapon. European s acquirement of guns and
steel did not mean they were compelled to use such technology to colonize the other continents.
Without acknowledging this, Europeans appear as inadvertent conquerors. Guns, Germs, and Steel
does not explain the capability for people to make judgements and influence the aftermath. For
example, stated in the epilogue, the Fertile Crescent lost its head start because it was the inhabitants
decision to clear the woodlands periodically, not allowing the vegetation to grow back soon enough.
In China, it was the type of political organization the inhabitants agreed on that allowed one of their

It is this assignment that Elinor began to study the common pool resource issue that led to her
future success as an economist. In the year 1965 Elinor married her colleague Vincent Ostrom.
They worked as a team to further research on the common pool issue. Together they established a
philosophical foundation workshop called the Political Theory and Policy Analysis. The logic
behind its creation is based on a variety of economic, political science, and other disciplines to
understand the ecological and social economic behavioral affects and outcomes (Elinor Ostrom
Biographical). Garette Hardin created the idea of the Tragedy of the Commons stating that people
think only of their own self interests when sharing a common resource therefore leading to its
depletion. However, Elinor argued that common resources are well managed when those who
benefit from it the most will become in danger if controlled by external benefactors. Her research
came to a conclusion that most individuals have real preferences and if presented a situation where
they can evolve trust and reciprocity, they will manage those resources (Profile of Elino Ostrom).
She successfully demonstrated her findings that economic analysis can shed light on most

22. Alice Howland, A Professor Of Linguistics At Columbia...
This screenplay follows the protagonist Alice Howland, who is a professor of linguistics at
Columbia University. Alice Howland is later diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer s Disease,
which turns her world completely upside down; especially given her career and ambitious
nature. She becomes unable to perform normal everyday activities, and struggles with the loss
of her independence. Alice s husband, John, who is a physician, attempts to act as a guide for
her through this time, but it ultimately puts a strain on their relationship. John s job offer to
move to Boston does not help matters either, and it quickly becomes the last straw for the two of
them. He soon moves to New York to take the job after Alice s memory starts to decay at a faster
rate. John and Alice have 3 children, Lydia, Anna, and Tom as well as a son in law, Charlie.
They are introduced at the beginning of the screenplay, as they all gather to celebrate Alice s 50th
birthday at a restaurant. This is also the time in which the audience notices her decline in normal
conversation as she is unable to follow smoothly. Alice could be considered the catalytic hero of
this screenplay, and the disease being the antagonist. Alice wants to hold on to as much of her
memory that she can, and slow the regression by writing down everything. By Act 3, Alice loses
her ability to do activities that she had been doing for many years; such as going out for her
morning run without getting lost, remembering words, phrases, and

23. Essay about Death in Emily Dickenson
Death in Emily Dickenson
With the thought of death, many people become terrified as if it were some
creature lurking behind a door ready to capture them at any moment. Unlike many,
Emily Dickinson was infatuated with death and sought after it only to try and help
answer the many questions which she pondered so often. Her poetry best illustrates
the answers as to why she wrote about it constantly. She explains her reason for
writing poetry, I had a terror I could tell to none and so I sing, as the Boy does by
the Burying Ground because I am afraid. (Johnson xxiii). There is no doubt that
Emily Dickinson is frightened of death and the unknown life after it. To release her
fears, she simply ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because Wadsworth
was her only mentor at the time, Dickinson feared she would have no one to turn to for
direction. To add to the upset of the death of a loved one, the pressures from her
father to do well in school plagued her so much that she found her only refuge in
seclusion (Capps 15). Dressed in the purifying color of white, Dickinson turned to
life in the seclusion of her bedroom writing down her fears and pains of death and the
hope of life after death (Conarro 71). Withdrawing from traditional ways of
seeing, she separated her consciousness from almost all others and tried to understand
the phenomenon that is consciousness itself (Bu*censored* 1).
There were many things which Emily Dickinson tried to understand, but she
was particularly interested in the mystery of death. It is evident in her poetry
24. that, the idea of death was for her the overwhelming, omnipresent emotional experience
of her life, and powerfully influenced her poetry, especially in its intensity and
richness (Ferlazzo 64). It overtook her thoughts and became a obsession which she had
to satisfy; yet Dickinson would not confide in the church to help provide the food she
hungered for. Ford explains that she believed that having felt no inner conversion,
she could not honestly acknowledge allegiance to a church (18). He goes on to say

25. Compare And Contrast Star Wars A New Hope And The Outsiders
Star Wars: A New Hope and The Outsiders are not as different as most might expect. The pair of
stories feature many heroes throughout, focusing on Luke Skywalker and Ponyboy Curtis. Both
of these stories were originally books, before being adapted into movies. The Hero s Journey
follows a narrative pattern that applies to nearly every story line there has ever been. The journey
applies to both Star Wars: A New Hope and The Outsiders. The Outsiders by S. E. Hinton follows a
young boy living in rural Oklahoma, who is part of a gang of teenagers called Greasers.
Ponyboy and his friends are constantly up against the opposing social group, the Socials, creating
conflict between the two groups. Star Wars: A New Hope, directed by George Lucas, is one of
the most famous movies of all time, which centers in on an young adult that ends up on a journey
to save Princess Leia and help the Rebellion fight off the Empire. Despite the contrasting genres of
the stories, Luke Skywalkerand Ponyboy Michael Curtis have a similar day to day life, have
comparable aid from others, and face challenges that are very much alike.
The Known World that both characters experience is more analogous than some might think, when
comparing an alien planet to rural Oklahoma. The Known World, being the first step in the hero s
journey, allows the audience to get to know the character and understand their personality and
qualities in depth. Luke Skywalker lives with his uncle and aunt, as he always has. Ponyboy

Saddest Poem
Tow weeks ago one of my classmates has presented a poem from his culture, and I am sure that it
s a Latin culture. The poem is called Saddest Poem written by Pablo Neruda who is as I
understood one of the most famous Latinos poet. This poem was translated to English, even though
it didn t lose its original structure. No one can argue about the main idea of this poem that it s a
sad poem and we can clearly see that from the title. Neruda uses many of the poetry techniques to
complete a perfect picture ending with this poem. Sitting, metaphor, sounds, and imagery all were
the elements that leaded to this nice piece of literature.
When I read this poem, I felt that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

He keeps thinking of her and repeating I can write the saddest poem off all tonight (1,5,11) he is

Technology has been part of our daily live more frequently than before. Screen time has been
more popularly used on kids and adolescents. On a daily bases many kids seem to spend more
time inside on their tablets, instead of having to spend time with other kids. This is a problem that
is becoming more popular over the years,on whether kids need to spend that much time on
technology or not. Parents either seem to have strict technology usage, or they either don t. There
has always been a huge controversy with experts, who either think that screen time is beneficial or
could cause problems later on in life. There are many views towards this topic, from hurting kids
brains, to helping them during school, and socially. Many people, including... Show more content on

In order to balance both there has to be comparative with the parents. Technology isn t good nor
bad. It can only benefit the child if the parents put a limit to their time in the screen. Parents need
to set up a schedule in where the kids will follow the time the kids will be using the tablet
/ phone. As well have time to play with other kids, and just interact with there own family
member. In the article, Screen time: A guide for parents states, keeping computers out of the
bedroom, and keep them in a common area in your house. This will make sure that the child isn
t using their computers/ tablets during the time they have to rest. Kids need to have a good rest,
and not having technology in their rooms because it could cause irregular sleep. Just having the
parent take action in how much kids need to spend time in the screens can be a good start.
Luscombe argues, Take away the idea that all screens are bad, but the face to face time for young
people is an important part of the socialization process . Parents seem to not understand that
children need to develop good social skills, and that can only be done by interacting with others,
and get a sense on others points of views. Parents need to stop giving the kids technology to keep
them quiet for a while, because at the end it s hurting the child

30. Eric Schlosser s Fast Food Nation Exposes the High Cost of...
Many feel that the fast food industry is providing a valuable service by catering to consumer
needs; that it is inexpensive and easily accessible. For people who don t have time to prepare
meals, for households in which both parents work, there s no question it provides a service. But
what is the true cost of this convenience? In the book, Fast Food Nation, Eric Schlosser reveals
that the cost is the lives of the people who work in the meat processing plants. Meat packingis now
the most dangerous job in the United States.
The men and women who work in the slaughterhouses are often low paid, poor immigrants, who
have not completely learned English and are practically illiterate. These workers make a knife cut

This manner that runs the lives of slaughterhouse workers is completely unethical. In any business,
stopping an employee from receiving due compensation for injuries is unfair and unethical. It
seems like that in any other business, if a worker is injured, and does not receive fair
compensation, they have the ability and drive to enforce the law; but in the case of the
slaughterhouse workers, that are often illiterate, this rarely happens.
The fast food industry both feeds and prays off the young. Pioneers in developing marketing
strategies to target children, the fast food chains have even infiltrated the nation s schools through
lunchroom franchises and special advertising packages that answer public education s need for
funds; in every way possible, giving the children a loyal friend to rely on. In many franchises,
teenagers are perfect candidates for low paying, low skilled, short term jobs and constitute a large
part of the fast food chains workforce; and often practically run individual locations, having more
responsibility than most adults.
The intense advertising and responsibilities is not the only thing we saw in Fast Food Nation that
effected children. The quality of the meat that is fed to children in school and at the fast food
restaurants is in some cases horrendous. Children are not the only age group that eats this tainted
food, but they are more greatly

31. Essay on Tell-tale Heart Literary Analysis
The Tell Tale Heart A Literary Analysis Like many of Poe s other works, the Tell Tale Heart is a
dark story. This particular one focuses on the events leading the death of an old man, and the
events afterwards. That s the basics of it, but there are many deep meanings hidden in the three
page short story. Poe uses techniques such as first person narrative, irony and style to pull off a
believable sense of paranoia. In this particular story, Poe decided to write it in the first person
narrative. This technique is used to get inside the main character s head and view his thoughts and
are often exciting. The narrator in the Tell Tale Heart is telling the story on how he killed the old
man while pleading his sanity. To quote a phrase... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Poe s economic style of writing is a key instrument in making this story amazing. In this story, he
uses his style to truly bring out what he intended for the story a study of paranoia. In example, I
loved the old man. He had never wronged me. He had never given me insult. For his gold I had
no desire. I think it was his eye! Yes, it was this! One of his eyes resembled that of a vulture a
pale blue eye with a film over it. Whenever it fell upon me my blood ran cold, and so by degrees,
very gradually, I made up my mind to take the life of the old man, and thus rid myself of the eye
for ever. it is easy to see that Poe used short sentences, to capture the rapid thoughts of a twisted
mind. Perhaps the biggest element in this story is the use of irony, both verbally and
dramatically. For verbal irony, we can see clearly at the end that what the narrator tells the
officers and how he acts on the outside, (in a cool manner , as he puts it) is much different than
the chaos on the inside, as in what he wants to say. He sees the police as villains and wishes them
to leave, but due to the situation, he had to keep them there. The more that he assures himself of
his sanity near the end of the story and the more that he thinks that he is acting coolly, eventually
leads him to reveal that he is the one that killed the old man after all. As for dramatic irony, since
we know that the narrator is the one that killed the old man,

Nearly everything you see in stores and even in your home was, at some point, transported
overland by a truck. Tractor trailer rigs in particular, haul cargo over longer distances than those
covered by local delivery trucks. Because of this, they carry much heavier loads and can weigh up
to 80,000 pounds. This makes them 20 to 30 times heavier than the average car.
Truck drivers must obey the same traffic rules as other vehicles on the road and like many
motorists, their negligence can cause an accident. However, in a tractor trailer accident, the result
can be devastating to the occupants of the other vehicle. Their overwhelming size and weight can
completely demolish smaller vehicles. This is why so many federal regulations specifically ... Show

displays the decreasing number of people who are attending church services in the United States.
Furthermore, the number of people with no religious affiliation has increased from 1% in 1960

On the perfectionist account there exists an established categorization of the moral status of
conscious persons or beings. The moral perfectionist maintains that morality is hierarchical, which
is to say that they hold that differentially weighted considerations should be given to different
beings depending on the level to which they possess certain characteristics. For example,
throughout the history of western philosophy one of the most popularly touted of the
characteristics of higher order moral agents has been the possession of formal language. Consider,

It is meant to show that animality is the metaphysical candle which casts a shadow over whatever
being is to be made morally incomparable to the Human. To substantiate this claim we can consider
that from the historical perspective, the subjugation of humans from women, slaves, the cognitively
and physically disabled, to the ethnic or religious minority has been accompanied by attempts to
ensure that they are animalized . By attempts to ensure that they are excluded from the moral
community a delegation attributed to their lack of the fundamental features or qualities of moral
agents. Fortunately, though not necessarily consistently, in the Western liberal modernity, such
animalized individuals have come to be afforded the same rights as other members of the human
community, despite their lack of many of the qualities which have typically been used to affirm the
moral importance of a human being. Again, although this is a fortunate transition, it is rather
inconsistent one if we are to reflect on the ways in which we typically distinguish the Animal from
the Human. Indeed, if we are to suggest that all humans have some sort of inherent rights either

How Did the Constitution Guard Against Tyranny?
In colonial times the Kings of England treated the colonists harshly. They were forced to house
soldiers, forbidden to trade with other countries, and mercenaries were sent by the king to control
them. The writers of the Constitution in 1787 called these acts tyranny. Tyranny is when an
individual, a few people, or a group of people such as a part of a government gains too much power
over the lives of the people. The Constitution had protections against tyranny. Federalism, the
Separation of Powers, and Checks and Balances are three ways it protected the young country from
tyranny.
Federalism is one way the Constitution protects against tyranny. Federalism is how power is shared

Underage people are prohibiting smoking, drinking, or going in field trips without their parents
permission. Therefore, how can a teenage girl have an abortion without the approval of her parents?
Abortion itself is a controversial subject, and underage abortion is even more controversial. Minors
should not have an abortionwithout the consent of their parents or their legal guardians for a variety
of reasons. First, most adolescents are not mature enough to make decisions that will change their
lives forever. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen

Parents must be included in their children s decisions because parents can influence their children
in a significant way. For instance, parental consent laws reduce the minor abortion rate by 19
percent (qtd. in Davis). A 2008 study done by Michael J. New, Ph.D. shows that parental
involvement laws reduce the abortion rate among 17 years old by 18.3 percent, among 16 years
old by 14.3 percent, and among 15 years old by 8.6 percent (qtd. in Davis). These statistics show
that the states that require parental involvement laws the abortion rates decline greatly.
Sometimes, teens want to have an abortion because they are afraid of their parents. However, if
the law requires minors to inform their parents about their pregnancy and the possibility of an
abortion, their parents will be able to help them. If a teen does not inform her parents about her
being pregnant, this teen will never know if her parents would have been supportive and guide
her through this difficult process. Finally, the most crucial reason to why parental consent laws
for abortion should be legal is the potential medical dangerous that can occur before and after an
abortion (Earll). Parents that are aware of their children desire to have an abortion and support
their children s decisions can provide important medical history to a physician (Christian Med.). A

up that false belief with the attorneys playing off of emotion and targeting pathos. A strong
argument presented by Darrow can be summarized by a few statements he made in that
courtroom. You are facing a problem of two races, a problem that will take centuries to solve. If
I felt none of you were prejudiced, I d have no fear. I want you to be as unprejudiced as you can
be. Draw upon your imagination and think how you would feel if you fired at some black man in a
black community, and then had to be tried by

41. Effects Of Prohibition
Prohibition has made nothing but trouble (Al Capone). The Prohibition Era was significant to the
development of the United States. This was a decade of change and corruption. Prohibition had a
profound impact in the 1920s and on the world today through the effects of alcohol consumption.
Prohibition in the 1920s was remarkably controversial. The 18th Amendment of the U.S.
Constitution, also known as National Prohibition, banned the manufacture, transportation, and
sale of intoxicating liquors ( Prohibition par. 1). The manufacture and distribution of alcoholic
beverages was prohibited; however, the consumption of alcohol was not illegal. Evan Andrews
states that, any wine, beer or spirits Americans had stashed away in January 1920 were theirs to
keep and enjoy in the privacy of their homes (Andrews par. 3). This provision allowed Americans
to own alcohol as long as it was not distributed or traded with anyone. Most people only had a few
bottles; however, wealthy drinkers bought liquor store inventories. Additionally, the Volstead Act,
also known as the National Prohibition Act, provided guidelines that allowed sacramental wine
and medicinal liquor (Blocker 237). Sacramental wine was allowed to be used for religious
purposes and medicinal liquor was available with a physician s prescription. Overall, the provisions
in the 18th Amendment allowed corruption to evolve. Many Americans supported Prohibition in
the early 1900s. The 18th Amendment was ratified on January 29,

42. Lorraine Hansberry
Lorraine Hansberry s A Raisin in the Sun The characters in Lorraine Hansberry s play are very
significant in understanding the play. The characters are examples of they way Lorraine lived
day by day her live when she was a kid. The success of the play was brought out by the characters
and her way of keeping our interest with each one of them. They characters are very critical in
understanding the play. There were four main characters that made the play a sellout, Lena, Ruth,
Beneatha and Walter Lee. Each one of these characters had a dream to try to accomplish. The
Characters portray the plays meaning in the way the play evolved into a masterpiece. Lorraine
Hansberry studied African history while working on A Raisin in the Sun.... Show more content on

She is up set and smacks Beneatha when Beneatha tells her that she does not believe in God.
Mama tells her that if she lives in her house she must believe in God. Henry Hewes opinion was
that ^the play contained dramaturgical implications which were brought out by Walter^ (Hewes
212). Theophilus Lewis notion was ^the drama had a great sense of spiritual conflict in the area
of Walter Younger^s soul with an obbligato of social awareness^ (Lewis 216). According to
James Baldwin he thought this play was ^excellent and never before in the entire history of the
American theater had so much of the truth of Black peoples lives been on stage^ (Baldwin 55).
Many critics thought that the characters had most to do with the play an how the play was
perceived. Jordan Y. Miller thought ^A Raisin in the Sun is one of the greatly enhanced by well
ordered revelation of the events which are so important in the lives of the characters^ (Miller).
Also Lorraine Hansberry kept our interest by developing the characters through out the play. The
characters are people who collaborated with other people and confronting there confusion and
anger. Gerald Weales thought the play was old fashion and had almost no serious playwright.
However he thought ^the plays strength lied in the characters and the problem of Walter Lee^
(Weales). If the play was to be written differently it would have had no real significant meaning.
Amari Baraka another dramatist ^liked the play and

43. The s Of A Large Corporation Such As The Intercontinental...
The Organization s Resources
The interworking s of a large corporation such as the Intercontinental Hotel Group (IHG) requires
careful examination to ensure the company can obtain and sustain success within the industry.
Throughout the internal environment analysis, the report will provide insight one the resources,
capabilities, core competencies, and competitive advantages being deployed by IHG. According to
the 2015 IHG annual report, IHG brands primarily use a franchise based business model, where the
hotel group manages hotels on behalf of the hotel owners (InterContinental Hotels Group, 2016,
p.12). In addition, the business strategy allows for an asset light strategy, where IHG can help the
hotel owners generate higher returns on their invested capital.
The ability to provide a system where the owners of the IHG branded hotel can achieve higher
returns on investment enables the investors to have increased confidence providing financing.
However, the strategy benefits IHG by reducing the risk on their side, while also freeing the hotel
group to reinvest their saving into the company. IHG generated 90% of their operating profits from
the asset light strategy, which is great considering the hotel group only has seven owned or leased
hotels in their system (InterContinental Hotels Group, 2016, p.13). While the business strategy
deployed by IHG is a great competitive advantage and resource for the hotel group, they do offer
some great benefits to their

44. Hellenistic Misconceptions
SYNOPTIC COMPARISON OF THE TEXTS
Now that we have uncovered some of the significance of the location of the text both in relation
to the surrounding narratives, and geographically it is time to look at each of the accounts, and
how they compare to one another. The account of the miracle in Mark is the longest, and most
detailed of the three, and I will be exploring it first. Luke s account is very similar to Mark s, and
in fact it is believed that Luke used Mark as the sole source for his account of the story, and simply
changed the language possibly changing the meaning, and focus of the text for his Gospel , so I will
look at his narrative second. Finally Matthew is the shortest, and least detailed account of this
narrative containing some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In verse 2, and 3 the word ОјОЅО·ОјОµОЇП‰ОЅ is used meaning among the tombs . In verse 5
however a different word is used. ОјОЅО®ОјО±ПѓО№ОЅ meaning as it is translated simply tomb
. Making note of this distinction is important because if we look at the literal meaning of the
translation of the word used in verses 2, and 3 we get a clearer picture of the condition of the demon
possessed man. The first word that is used to describe the tomb emphasizes the fact that the man
lived among the dead . I find this linguistic point interesting because it is an instance where our
English language is not adequate to describe what the author was trying to convey in his text.
When we look at the underlying meaning of the two separate words, and gain a deeper
understanding of the underlying meaning of the first we get a more powerful picture of the
circumstances that this demon possessed man was in. Aside from living among the tombs the
man also suffered in other ways due to his demon possession. One example of this is 5:5 Night
and day among the tombs and on the mountain he was always howling and bruising himself with
stones. (NRSV) these two examples of the miserable state of the mans life are an illustration of the
power that evil can have over a person . Understanding the extent of the power that the evil demon
had over the man makes the illustration of the power that Jesus has over the demon all the more
