Immanuel Kant Deontology
Deontology
The decisions of deontology may be appropriate for an individual but does not necessarily produce a good outcome for society.
Deontology (also known as nonconsequential), by contrast, is dependent on moral laws, duties, rules and intuitions and centers
on the principles of 18th century philosopher Immanuel Kant. These moral laws and duties declare that actions such as lying,
murdering and breaking promises are fundamentally wrong and we have no duty to partake in these actions. (CRI) This moral
theory stems from the Greek works deon and logos , which mean the study of duty. Deontology states that an action s morality
holds great value, and therefore the result of a wrong action does not make it s outcome ethical. In other words,

A Woman Governing Over Texas
No one would had imagined a woman governing over Texas, a state ruled by conservative white cowboys. Ann Richards was the
second woman to become the Lieutenant Governor of Texas in 1990. She became the hero of minorities, woman, gay men, and
lesbians, and worked for a New Texas where opportunities and power would be given to those groups. Ann Richards is known as
the most efficient person in a line of long Texas progressives who fought for control over Texas when the state was a Democratic
Stronghold . Her loss against Gorge W. Bush after her first term as governor, was a strong indication that the generations of
Democrats ruling Texas had ended.
Before Ann Richards made a career in politics, she had a career as a mother and wife. Ann was born in Waco, Texas on
September 1 of 1933. Waco back then was segregated, had strong religious ideas, and its people where known as being strict
conservatives. Ann met her future husband in 1949 when Ann and David where on their senior year in Waco High. Once they
graduated high school in 1950, Ann wanted to leave Waco and follow David to Austin where David was studying to become a
lawyer at the University of Texas. Ann s mother, Eleanor, didn t seem that it was a good idea for her baby girl leave her

Austin Vs Hart
H.L.A. Hart first takes issue with John Austin first point. John Austin believed in a many species of commands. Hart disagrees
with Austin s statement completely. Hart believes that the idea that the law consists only of directives and orders which are
followed by possible punishments do not help to explain the current legal systems. Hart finds value in the type of laws called
power conferring rules. The rules offer less threats and actually establish a framework for which citizen can understand and
define their individual rights and obligations they have. Hart also considers other types of laws. Hart views laws that are
established to identify the limitation and the powers of the judicial and legislative branches. He argues that it is impossible to
view these laws as mere orders backed by threats ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hart views primary rules as rules that require actions that will ultimately create duties and obligations. For example, let say you
go to Wal Mart and buy two hundred dollars worth of groceries, but you then decide to walk out of the store without paying. You
can reasonably expect that there is a law requiring you to pay. In contrast, secondary rules are used to establish procedures which
allow modification of primary rules. Hart envisions a world of just primary rules, but says that without secondary rules the world
would lack true understanding of the law and ultimately would be faced with many challenges. Hart defines three problems that
can be remedied with three different types of secondary rules which include: rules of recognition, rule of change and rule of
adjudication. Of those three Hart believes that the rule of recognition. The rule of recognition tells us basically how to establish
and implement a law. In the modern legal systems that is the most important contribution that arises from the rule of recognition
is it allows us to determine the validity of a

Analysis Of Laura Mulvey s Film, Visual Pleasure And...
Katlyn Riggins
WGST 343: 500
Fall 2015
Topic Number 4
Women in film are often portrayed in a manner deemed pleasurable to the male viewer. Laura Mulvey takes this concept and
dissects it within her article Visual Pleasure and Narrative Cinema. Mulvey references the term male gaze, wom[en] displayed as
sexual object[s] is the leitmotif of erotic spectacle: from pin ups to strip tease, from Ziegfeld to Busby Berkeley, she holds the
look, and plays to and signifies male desire (Mulvey 40). Because of this interpretation it is relevant to examine different forms
of media, such as films, to establish if the male gaze is present. Furthermore, it is appropriate to analyze films directed by women
to identify the male gaze, due to their unique interpretation of female character s visual representation. In the essay that follows,
it will consider Girlfight and Dance, Girl, Dance to analyze how two separate female filmmakers, Karyn Kusama and Dorothy
Arzner respectfully, challenge the theory of the male gaze, along with comparing and contrasting the methods in which such
challenges were made, and finally it will address how any filmmaker may object the male gaze.
Within the film Girlfight, director Karyn Kusama presents the audience with a strong female protagonist. Actor Michelle
Rodriguez debuts her career portraying the lead role of Diana and gives the audience a unique interpretation of the character. We
first see the heroine, through a crowd of teenagers walking

May 6, 2016 Abstract
An examination of the patrol officer s jobs and duties took place. The gathering of information and interviewing a seasoned
patrol offer assisted in this examination. The city in which the patrol officer works is also studied. Research of the city of
Hueytown s population and history helped to understand the demographics and crime within the city. While Hueytown s violent
crimes are low, thefts and burglaries rank the highest. Communities, including the city of Hueytown, place patrol officers on the
streets in order to protect and serve. Officer Louis Phillips, Jr. gave an interview that takes an in depth look at his journey as a
patrol officer. Interview of a Patrol Officer

Life Pi By Yann Martel And The Movie Life Of Pi Directed...
Many famous novels have been rearranged in order to make movies. However, the quality of the movie, a lot of the times,
depends on the changes made when adapting the novel to film. The director of the movie needs to make sure that the film does
not cut off significant parts, and at the same time, abstain from the unnecessary parts the writer made without changing the whole
theme. Moreover, they need to add in more characters and scenes to make the film more creative and understandable. In this
essay, the comparison of differences in the novel Life of Pi by Yann Martel and the movie Life of Pi directed by Lee Ann will be

What books cannot achieve is the sceneries and effects that film can include. Compare to the book, Lee created more stunning
scenes using special effects. When the readers reach to the point of Pi describing the ocean, they can try their best to imagine the

compared to Titanic , but at the moment of the ship sank, when Pi is floating on the dark ocean in the night, the drowning feeling
that audiences can experience certainly is not worse than Titanic .
Lee used lots of scenes and background music to bring immersive feeling to the audiences. When it reached to the storm scene,

New Testament Times Parable Analysis
In New Testament times, an assortment of coins originating from Rome, Antioch, and Jerusalem circulated in Palestine,
including the Roman denarius. In the parable of the workers in the vineyard, at the end of the day, the landowner paid each
worker one denarius regardless of the number of hours each laborer had toiled in the fields. The land owner had hired the
workers at 9:00 A.M., however, he paid them the same amount of money as the workers he had hired at noon and 3:00 P.M. This
arrangement infuriated those workers who had worked thelongest, yet were paid equally as those who had worked shorter hours.
The parable ignores the number of hours worked by each laborer and highlights the generosity and kindness of the owner of the
vineyard.

These crater like volcanoes are quite an uncommon occurrence, although they are not unique to just the Galapagos. However, the
unusual part of these calderas is their size, especially compared to their relation to the size of the volcano. Calderas form after a
collapse of a magma chamber located under the surface. The magma in these chambers give support to the volcano, but after the
magma withdraws, the surrounding rock becomes unsupported and cannot bear the weight above them, and therefore they
collapse. These calderas do not form in just one collapse; they slowly grow after many collapses. This was proven after a partial
collapse of the caldera on Fernandina in 1968, as part of the crater dropped nearly 200 meters. Several other smaller collapses
have occurred on Fernandina as well as other islands since the collapse in 1968. These calderas can also be refilled with magma,
partially or all the way, and then reform. An example of this is Isla Marchena, located in the northeast, which has nearly been
filled all the way with lava. If these calderas drop below sea level and part of the rim breaks, the caldera can form a bay just as

Indian Imperialism
Rudyard Kipling stated, East is East and West is West, and never the twain shall meet (Velgen 240). One of the main questions
posed by this novel, as asked by Mahmoud Ali and Hamidullah, is whether or not it is possible to be friendly with the
Englishmen. The book serves as an example as to how difficult it might seem to achieve unity when there s diversity already
present. This question is answered through discovering the personal relationships among the main characters in the novel and
analyzing the effects of imperialism on the exploitation of those personal relationships. Set in British colonial India, the novel
explores cultural, religious, and political barriers and the hostility between the subjects and the ruling class. India, a country
already known to be diverse within itself and containing innumerable groups formed by social hierarchy and distinct traditions,
was unaware of a society in which people of different backgrounds live in unity. This book created much controversy because

Who Is Abigail Responsible For The Tragic Events In The...
The Crucible The tragic events in The Crucible can be linked to several different characters in the play. Whether it is lust, greed,
vengeance, or pride, almost all the characters give their fair share to the madness. The play does include characters that add to the
disarray of the town more than others. Abigail Williams is the character that is most responsible for the chaotic happenings in
The Crucible. A major reason Abigail is most to blame is she is vengeful and jealous of others. Abigail is envious and spiteful of
Elizabeth Proctor. Abigail seeks revenge on Elizabeth for firing her as the Proctors servant after finding out Abigail had an affair
with John, Elizabeth s husband. Abigail is covetous of Elizabeth because she wants John, ... Show more content on

Without a leader, there is no group. Without a group, there is no group mentality; there are no shows of spirits possessing the
girls or birds attacking them. If Abigail had not led the girls to lie and fake being witched, then they might never have acted out.
Mousy Mary Warren would have never been able to display such eccentric behavior if the girls had not displayed such behavior
first. Abigail forces the other girls to feign being witched to get others in Salem in trouble because Abigail herself is afraid of
being accused. Abigail is merely a child, afraid of being punished for wrongdoing as any child is. In Puritan society, God is held
as the highest authority and being a witch is one of the worst crimes against God. Having committed such a high crime, Abigail
acts as a kid and blames others for the offense. Any adolescent would be beyond scared at the thought of the inevitable

blame those around her. Abigail s fear is what motivates her to blame others, get all the girls to join in on her scheme, and the

Effects of Nurse Staffing on Patients Outcomes
This study focuses on the issue of nursing staffing and its effects on the outcomes of the patients. To begin with, the tem nursing
staffing will be defined and followed by a discussion of nursing staffing in relation to the nurses themselves. Nursing staffing
levels and their effects on the patient outcomes will also be discussed with regards to morbidity and mortality besides other
indicators of patient outcomes, the impact of nursing staffing levels to quality of care as well as an overview of past studies as far
as the relationship between nursing staffing levels and the outcome of the patient is concerned.

Additionally, the factors that were found to profoundly affect this opinion are the competence of the staff, teamwork, flexible
delivery system, and a balance of positions in relation to the needs of the patients that are under their care.
The study by Aiken et al in 2002 revealed that there was a higher chance of nurses experiencing job related burnout in hospitals
with high Patient nurse ratios. Further, nurses in institutions which had the highest rates of patient to nurse ratios were twice
likely to suffer from dissatisfaction from their jobs. These influenced the decisions of nurses to leave their current jobs and thus
creating more staffing problems that would lead to more negative patient outcomes.
Nursing Staffing and the Patient There are various outcomes that are thought to be directly related to the staffing of nurses in any
institution are associated with the patients, such as morbidity mortality, nosocomial infections, falls, pressure ulcers, suicide, and
length of hospital stay, medication errors, post operative complications, infection rates and adverse events such as cardiac or
respiratory arrests, most of which are negative patient outcomes (Flynn and Mckeown, 2009). There are various studies that have
focused on this relationship such as the study by Aiken et al in 2002 however, according to Liang et al (2012); most of these
studies have been carried out in western countries. Flynn and Mckeown also studied the relationship between

Poverty In Guatemala
Poverty in Guatemala
Well over 50 percent of the population in Guatemala lives on incomes that are below the poverty line. (Orphan Outreach) This is
a reality that I was able to experience on my mission trip to Guatemala. The issue of poverty was evident through the homes
people lived in, the clothes they wore, and where they were attending school during the day. This is one of many problems that
are faced in the country of Guatemala. When looking at the amount of poverty in Guatemala, it is important to consider the
effects of poverty, its moral implications, the ways we can respond, and the benefits of helping. Sixty percent of the population in
Guatemala is illiterate. This is largely due to the low quality of education. Only 40 percent of children find themselves able to
finish schooling because their families are unable to afford it. (Mayan Families) Instead of going to school, these children can be
found at home working and helping to earn a living for their family. It is not only the kids unable to go to school facing
problems; those attending school are facing problems as well. The schools that these children are attending are not helping them
very much because the teachers do not have access to the training and resources that they need. Only 1 out of every 10 schools
has access to books (Cooperative for Education). The rest of them are unable to get them because they do not have the access or
money that they need. This factor is leading to the large

The Common Reason For Vascular Dementia
Many people aren t aware of vascular dementia, and some of those who are aware of it misunderstand the disease. It s very
important to be educated on how the disease could affect you or someone you care about, and how you maybe able to deal with
it. Cerebrovascular disease, also known as vascular dementia, is the second to most common form of dementia. It is characterized
by blood vessels changing over time in the cerebrum (brain). The most common reason for vascular dementia is due to aging of
the body; but it is also tied to cholesterol and the state of the walls of the blood vessels. Too much cholesterol and overall poor
health of blood vessels can cause a thickness in the lining of the vessel walls, therefore cutting off some of the blood flow to the
brain. Dementia often includes symptoms such as memory loss, trouble doing normal everyday activities, and problem solving.
Once the symptoms come, they will most likely stay. They will only become worse and worse over time, so it s necessary to try
and come to terms with the disease. Caregivers can try to make the person affected as comfortable as possible as their body is
slowly transitioning. Because there is a loss of blood flow to the brain, signals that are necessary in order to keep the body
functioning properly eventually stop being sent. The muscles will stop being sent signals to move, and sometimes the signal to
breathe can even be stopped. There are approximately 47.5 million people in the world who suffer

Autobots Attempts To Stop Decepticons
The movie Transformers is about Autobots trying to stop Decepticons. Autobots and Decepticons are forms of Transformers that
have been fighting for years. Scenes from the movie are spectacular. Certain scenes from the movie are very great such as when
Optimus fights the T Rex, when Cade Yeager finds Optimus Prime and gets his house raided by Special Agent Savoy, and when
the Autobots ended the battle with the Decepticons. Autobots are normally the good transformers and Decepticons are usually the
bad guys.
From the time Cade Yeager finds Optimus Prime, Cade knew Optimus was a transformer. At the time the U.S government had
award money for anyone who spotted or found a transformer. The government was giving award because the Transformers had
previously started a war on U.S soil and the government now wanted them gone. So Cade insisted to his friend Lucas to not tell
anyone about Optimus being hidden in his warehouse. So the next couple days past and Optimus and Cade grew to kind of know
each other. As Cade s daughter was just getting home, a swarm of police vehicles and helicopters emerged on to Cade Yeager s
property. The man in charge (SA Savoy) wanted to know where Optimus was and Cade was insisting that Optimus was not here.

John Aaronovitch s Voodoo Histories
This has been a very controversial topic for centuries, so David Aaronovitch decided to write his from the book Voodoo
Histories, the author emphasizes that we as humans, dramatize and make up myths of how we think the story would have gone.
We have this perception that there is always an answer or a reasoning for everything. He stated that we use paranoia as to make
ourselves feel as though we are important and have something to say about our lives. The author viewed as the events in our lives
were just a reason to be talked about but also the fear of not being talked about, is what people fear the most. He mostly uses his
knowledge to inform the readers of his thoughts on conspiracy and the 21st century. point of view on this informative subject.
The author values that we as the general audience dramatize everything by nature, no matter how small the stories are. He also
emphasizes the word paranoia throughout the book, because that is what he believes the general audience will take away from
the idea of conspiracy. Conspiracy can be such a conflict with how we perceive the world around us. From reading this article
one can see that how we process the thought of a tragic event, we make our stories how we want them to end. That is where,
David Aaronovitch argues that conspiracy does not have power but the idea of conspiracy gives it power, he supported this by
using these terms: sarcastic tone, allusion, persuasive appeals, general diction, and logically organized.

What Is The Moral Of Spoke Zebra
If a zebra is marked with a big red X , not only does the herd outcast it but it is also the likely candidate to be the lion s meal.
Being in a herd seems beneficial for survival but it comes with costs that may not be worth it. In Thus Spoke Zarathustra by
Friedrich Nietzsche, Zarathustra describes being part of a herd, along with many other actions, as life denying. His concerns are
ethics and living well. In the prologue, Nietzsche tells the story of how Zarathustra went up a mountain and spent ten years there
gaining wisdom on life; he then descends to share his wisdom, but the people laugh at him and he comes to realize that they did

perspective on the quality of life people are currently living is accurate meaning that he understand what he is proclaiming when
he states his ideas on how to better it. His goal is to encourage those who are willing to hear him, to be creative, free, self

Assessment Of Shell s Corporate Social Responsibility
Topic: Assessment of shell s corporate social responsibility in the Niger Delta Region of Nigeria
Executive Summary
Oil for over a decade has been the main source of income for the Nigerian economy. It accounts for more than 70% of export. The
Niger Delta region of Nigeria has been plagued with different negative effects of oil exploration. The environment, economy and
even quality of human life have been greatly affected. This has created a lack of trust between the inhabitants and the oil
companies, and even with the Nigerian government.
Corporate Social responsibility (CSR) has been viewed in different ways by different school of thoughts; some see it has a
voluntary initiative, while others think it s a main part of every company s structure and even an opportunity to improve brand.
For this work, we would take the position of the later argument. It is simply giving back to the environment that you gain from. It
involves protection of the environment, development of quality of the occupants of the environment and improving their quality
of life. Like Barnard (1938), it is analyzing the social, economic, moral, legal and physical aspects of the environment.
This project seeks to objectively analyze the activities of oil companies in this region. Shell, a major player in the oil industry of
Nigeria received the spotlight. An extensive analysis of their CSR was done. This was achieved by comparing with different
standards; notably the ISO26000. A review of the Nigerian

Research Paper On Guerrilla Marketing
As competitiveness between companies nowadays is every time more and more extended, brands need to search for ways to
make it stand out among the others. Guerilla marketing is one example of this standing out goal.
Guerrilla marketing was originally a marketing strategy in which low cost, unconventional means were used in a localized
fashion to draw attention to an idea, product, or service. Today, guerrilla marketing may also include promotion through a
network of individuals, groups, or organizations working to popularize a product or idea by use of such strategies as flash mobs,
viral marketing campaigns, or internet marketing.
The term guerrilla marketing is traced to guerrilla warfare, which employs atypical tactics to achieve an objective.
Guerrilla marketing was initially used by small and medium sized businesses, but it is increasingly being adopted by big
business. This concept rises from a promotion that relies on imagination rather than a big budget.

The And The Qur An Essay
His reference to the Qur an brings back to the moment he began establishing ethos with his stream of metaphors that explain the
ripple effect. Although, this time, he uses a more positive tone in the sense that one good deed will lead to an infinite amount of
good deeds. It s almost as if he carefully chose this reference and purposefully delivers it 10 minutes after making the stream of
metaphors. Making a connection like that with a huge time gap is a very difficult task and requires a lot of eloquence, something
that only Barack Obama and a few other speakers possess. Each part of the speech includes proof and refutation. For example,
when Obama brings up the issue of Iraq, He provides the logical argument that America has the responsibilities of helping Iraq
and leaving Iraq to Iraqis. The refutation occurs when he acknowledges nine eleven and how it led to reactions that were against
traditional belief and made the promise to take troops out of Iraq by 2012. He also makes the promise to have Guantanamo Bay
closed. These promises were big promises that received great attention. I consider the promise Obama made about bringing all
troops back from Iraq by 2012 to be one of the most impactful promises that he made as a president because it affects nearly
everyone s family and friends in the United States. The next part that is about the issue of Palestinians and Israelis. He brings up

Summary Of N. Scott Momaday s The Way To Rainy Mountain
Throughout history, the resilience of Native American tribes through the gentrification of their culture at the hands of the U.S.

Frost depth is the depth that the groundwater in soil is expected to freeze. The frost depth differ depends on the climate

The Pros And Cons Of Creative Destruction
Joseph Schumpeter was one of the most famous author and economist in the 20th century. Among his numerous findings, one
stands out; creative destruction. Creation refers to disruptive innovation on one side, while destruction alludes to the
disappearance of some jobs, industries or even sectors on the other. A popular example is transportation. When combustion
engines were invented, horse drawn vehicles suddenly became out of age. On the short term, there was a lot of job destructions
too. If there was no need for horse drawn vehicles, all adjacent sectors were hit hard: horse breeders were probably left with less
demand, horse drawn vehicles companies began to lose their clientele. In creative destruction, neither does the creation part nor
the destruction part happen overnight. Before being affordable to the masses and cause the economic disruption mentioned
above, the auto industry had to undergo several incremental as opposed to disruptive changes. Eventually, fordism, which has
been a cause of destructive creation as well, came along the way and created millions of jobs in the auto industry. When one
looks at the jobs created directly, indirectly with auto part suppliers, auto dealers and thanks to new trade opportunities made
possible by this new technology, it becomes obvious that if jobs losses can be painful, on the long run, benefits from creation
overweight its drawbacks. (Creative destruction, Ricardo Caballero, MIT Economics)

In some ways, we can use literature to view a glimpse of the past. Not only does literature often times reflect historical events,
writing can also paint a picture of the culture and social norms during a specific time period. The Dean of the College of Arts and
Sciences at the University of Buffalo, Milton C. Albrecht, stated in his article that, Like other arts, literature has in the past been
assumed to reflect cultural norms and values, the ethos and the stresses of a society, the process of dialect materialism, and the
historical development of a society or culture (Albrecht 177). In the case of Edith Wharton s short story, Confession , there was
both an influence from historical events and societal norms. Throughout the short story, there were three obvious influences from
the time period. The story is loosely based on a historically famous murder trial that captivated the nation for years. Despite
Wharton s use of historical context throughout the story, she managed to transfer the reader to the time period the story was
written through her reflection of societal gender roles and financial stability during the early 1900s.
Confession used a historical phenomenon to form a background for the life of the main character, Mrs. Ingram, who was a
fictional representation of the historical figure known as Lizzie Borden. In the summer of 1892, Lizzie Borden was suspected of
killing her father and step mother in their Massachusetts home. After a long and heated trial,

Infertility Treatment
Stress can be broadly defined as any external and internal events that affects an organism s well being. In attempt to maintain
homeostasis, the body will respond to the psychological stress by modifying physiological processes (Nargund, 2015).
Psychological stress is a number of emotional events that interrupts homeostasis. The disruption of homeostasis can affect many
biological systems, such as metabolism, vascular function, tissue repair, nervous system and reproductive system. Both
emotional and physical stress can have a negative impact on human reproductive function (Cousineau, 2007; Jakobovits et al,
2002). Therefore, it is very important to know how to cope with stress when experiencing life events that are very stressful. My

Infertility can be curable through treatments, but going through infertility treatment can be very challenging. There are two
factors that can cause an increase on stress level of someone who s going through infertility treatment: cost and time. These two
factors can add to the stress level of couple whose experiencing infertility. Stress or anxiety can negatively affect the treatment of
infertility, and can put the pregnancy at risk. Also any before and after psychological illness may affect fertilization therapy.
However, it is recommended to go through psychotherapeutic treatment while going through infertility treatment. There are
many researches supporting this idea and a lot of focus on different psychotherapeutic interventions such as Cognitive
Behavioral Therapy. Another important factor regards the social support a patient gets from the partner, family and friends and
the role that plays on reducing stress during infertility treatment. Researchers suggested that social support from partner, family
and friends play a role on reducing infertility related stress, also and couples with social support are more likely to go through
infertility treatment successfully. However, partner support shows the greatest association with the overall findings for both men
and women experiencing infertility (Martins, 2014; Greil at al.,

Federal Budget Deficit Analysis
Federal Budget Deficit Projected to Soar to Over $1 Trillion in 2020 The annual budget for the Federal Government is predicted
to increase over the next few years. In fact, it s supposed to surpass $1 trillion dollars in 2020, even though the economy is
growing at a healthy rate, the Congressional Budget Office says. The national debt has gone beyond $21 million and even goes
from there to past $33 trillion in 2028. By then, the public s debt will almost match the size of the economy. It ll be at 96% which
is higher than post World War to and past the crisis point. Some economists think that increasing deficits will bring interest rates
up, expand private sector s borrowing costs, and prices of tank stock. All this will decrease the growth ... Show more content on

A deficit in economics is when there is a surplus over expenditures in a certain time period. Here in the article, the government
spent more than what the budget allowed. The government controls government spending and doesn t affect investments and
consumption. Social insurance programs are talked about in the article. These are programs from the government (transfer
payments) meant to protect families for economic hardships. Examples of these transfer payments mentioned in the article are
medicare and social security. This relates to fiscal policy and government transfers because it is a government transfer. Fiscal
policy is also the use of taxes, government transfers or purchases made by the government that shift the aggregate demand curve.
Expansionary fiscal policy increases aggregate demand and the factors that contribute are a tax cut, increase in government
transfers and an increase in purchases in goods and services by the government. We see those factors throughout the article as it
talks about growing deficits because of the Social Security and Medicare. Expansionary policy is incorporated into the article
when the budget office discusses the prediction of high interest rates so Americans will purchase more

Art As A Driving Force For The Abstract Of Art
Art can be for art s sake; it does not need to be representational. Jackson Pollock was an influential American painter who
became a driving force for the abstract expression movement. His belief that his art comes from within was an impetrative idea
behind his style. His beliefs have a huge impact on how I view art, create art, and inspired me for my final piece.
Pollock was born in Cody, Wyoming in 1912. His father, LeRoy Pollock, was a farmer who raised his children in Arizona and
Chico, California. Pollock was heavily influenced by Pablo Picasso, Digo Rivera, and Native American art. All of these
influences contributed to Pollock s unique style. In 1929, Jackson Pollock studied at the Students League in New York under
Thomas Hart Benton. He learned techniques that helped him understand space, line, color, and much more. In mid 1940 s
Pollock introduced his famous drip paintings. These paintings were such a radical approach to the changes that happened during
and after WWII. Media latched onto his methods and Life soon releases an article titled Jackson Pollock: Is he the greatest living
painter in the United States? The content was mocking and respectful. Vogue magazine caught onto the avant garde artwork and
joined the trend publishing fashion photographs in front of the beautiful drip paintings. These widely known companies
persuaded society to accept the new idea to art. Pollock struggled with depression and alcoholism. His premature death in August
of 1956,

Female Athletes As Role Models For The Sports Industry
Female athletes do not get paid as much as they deserve for the work they execute for the sports industry. Female athletes do so
much for the sports industry that is not appreciated. They are good role models for adolescent girls to be confident in themselves
and to get involved in sports and activities outside or at school. Female athletes also produce profit for the industry as well as
earn money from endorsements just as male athletes do. Although people may state that female athletes lack in many different
factors, female athletes are good role models for their young viewers, they are the driving force that generates most of the
revenue for the teams federation, and they portray the equal amount of work that the male athletes do and therefore, should
receive the same payment. Peer pressure and self esteem are two things girls are struggling with in today s day and age, but
female athletes encourage girls to get involved in sports in order to clear up some stresses they might be having. Female athletes
promote confidence and strength which helps adolescent girls understand that these things are key to being a successful person in
life. Experts state that by the age of 12, girls are 6 times more likely to drop out of playing sports than boys because girls do not
receive as many positive reinforcements about their sports participation as boys. Female athletes can improve and change the
behavior of the girls so that they will have confidence and feel like they want to

Yojimbo Theme
In Akira Kurosawa s movie Yojimbo the time, characters are inspired by the Japanese History. Like the story happening after the
collapse of the Tokugawa Era. However there are several indication that some of the techniques used were based from Western
films and its style and technique. During the first part of the movie where Sanjuro came to the deserted village that is somewhat
abandoned by the Japanese Government, in actuality it is more like a ghost town. It showed a classic western wild west setting
where a stranger passes by the empty town while the wind is blowing the leaves and dust. The villagers are scared on what might
happen to him and village so the stranger was advised to leave. But of course like the western classic Sanjuro ... Show more

Even though they do not have the same plot as Yojimbo where there is a stranger that goes to a town and save it from two gangs.
One of the main theme that the Yojimbo have is it shows the condition of people in a town that is ruled by gangs. Most of the
people in the world have somehow know this kind of situation whether it is from their history or they experience it themselves.
The constant fear of fights broking out and the villagers being affected by it. The westerns adapting the Yojimbo showed that
they themselves have this kind of history in the past, where the government have abandoned the town and the local police cannot
do anything to stop these abusive gangs, whether it is only one gang or two. Another theme is these gangs have slaves which is
also a universal theme that many people have learned that this kind of oppression and abuse is shown in history books. Lastly
another important theme that have been adapted and is still being adapted by many movies is having a hero that despises the
weak and is somewhat selfish, opportunistic and manipulative. But in the end these character have a soft spot like what is seen in
the Yojimbo . Even though there are variation on this kind of theme, the main focus here is that there is a hero that will come and
save a village or town from bad things or people such as gangs. The fact that these themes are very powerful and many people
can relate to this and have a great appeal to the audience showed how successful Yojimbo crossed cultural

Essay on History of the Democratic Republic of Congo
Prior to 1960, Belgium and their King, Leopold ruled the Congo region. They held great interests in the rubber industry and
created harsh labor camps that exploited the people. That is why after gaining independence in 1960, the nation then known as
Zaire plunged into chaos. Military unrest coupled with oppressive warlord throughout the region made it a very unstable state,
ready to collapse. Nowadays, U.N. peacekeeping forces hold posts in the nation to maintain its stability. The United States has
had foreign relations with the country from 1960 and has signed many treaties to help promote growth in the region. One such
document is the Peace, Security and Cooperation framework that exists between the United States and the Democratic ... Show

That is another reason why U.S. economic involvement in the DRC is seen as very important, because it produces stability in the
region, leading into the next point. As stated at the end of the last paragraph, the U.S. must prevent more military destabilization
in the region through both military and economic means. The early mission statement of the United States Africa Command
states that the West s long term strategic interests in Africa are clear: we must thwart the growth of terrorism and transnational
crime; we must prevent destabilizing mass migrations; and we must maintain secure trade links. Through military invention and
economic aid, both the DRC and other nations in Africa as well as the United States will benefit with increased national security.
In 2001, the UN blamed the various factions that fought a brutal five year war in the DRC for deliberately extending the conflict
in order to plunder the country s extensive supplies of gold, diamonds, and timber (World Geography). Through the Peace,
Security and Cooperation framework the U.S. is able to maintain a Special Envoy for the Great Lakes and the DRC to prevent
further exploitation of resources. The Envoy has a main goal of locating and destroying the main root cause of instability in the
region. In other economic terms, A UN agency said it needed close to 7.5 million U.S. dollars to continue offering

  • 2. Immanuel Kant Deontology Deontology The decisions of deontology may be appropriate for an individual but does not necessarily produce a good outcome for society. Deontology (also known as nonconsequential), by contrast, is dependent on moral laws, duties, rules and intuitions and centers on the principles of 18th century philosopher Immanuel Kant. These moral laws and duties declare that actions such as lying, murdering and breaking promises are fundamentally wrong and we have no duty to partake in these actions. (CRI) This moral theory stems from the Greek works deon and logos , which mean the study of duty. Deontology states that an action s morality holds great value, and therefore the result of a wrong action does not make it s outcome ethical. In other words, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ann Richards was the second woman to become the Lieutenant Governor of Texas in 1990. Ann Richards is known as the most efficient person in a line of long Texas progressives who fought for control over Texas when the state was a Democratic Stronghold . Her loss against Gorge W. Bush after her first term as governor, was a strong indication that the generations of Democrats ruling Texas had ended. Before Ann Richards made a career in politics, she had a career as a mother and wife. Ann was born in Waco, Texas on September 1 of 1933. • 6. Austin Vs Hart H.L.A. Hart first takes issue with John Austin first point. John Austin believed in a many species of commands. Hart disagrees with Austin s statement completely. Hart believes that the idea that the law consists only of directives and orders which are followed by possible punishments do not help to explain the current legal systems. Hart finds value in the type of laws called power conferring rules. The rules offer less threats and actually establish a framework for which citizen can understand and define their individual rights and obligations they have. Hart also considers other types of laws. Hart views laws that are established to identify the limitation and the powers of the judicial and legislative branches. He argues that it is impossible to view these laws as mere orders backed by threats ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hart views primary rules as rules that require actions that will ultimately create duties and obligations. For example, let say you go to Wal Mart and buy two hundred dollars worth of groceries, but you then decide to walk out of the store without paying. You can reasonably expect that there is a law requiring you to pay. In contrast, secondary rules are used to establish procedures which allow modification of primary rules. Hart envisions a world of just primary rules, but says that without secondary rules the world would lack true understanding of the law and ultimately would be faced with many challenges. Hart defines three problems that can be remedied with three different types of secondary rules which include: rules of recognition, rule of change and rule of adjudication. Of those three Hart believes that the rule of recognition. The rule of recognition tells us basically how to establish and implement a law. In the modern legal systems that is the most important contribution that arises from the rule of recognition is it allows us to determine the validity of a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Analysis Of Laura Mulvey s Film, Visual Pleasure And... Katlyn Riggins WGST 343: 500 Fall 2015 Topic Number 4 Women in film are often portrayed in a manner deemed pleasurable to the male viewer. Laura Mulvey takes this concept and dissects it within her article Visual Pleasure and Narrative Cinema. Mulvey references the term male gaze, wom[en] displayed as sexual object[s] is the leitmotif of erotic spectacle: from pin ups to strip tease, from Ziegfeld to Busby Berkeley, she holds the look, and plays to and signifies male desire (Mulvey 40). Because of this interpretation it is relevant to examine different forms of media, such as films, to establish if the male gaze is present. Furthermore, it is appropriate to analyze films directed by women to identify the male gaze, due to their unique interpretation of female character s visual representation. In the essay that follows, it will consider Girlfight and Dance, Girl, Dance to analyze how two separate female filmmakers, Karyn Kusama and Dorothy Arzner respectfully, challenge the theory of the male gaze, along with comparing and contrasting the methods in which such challenges were made, and finally it will address how any filmmaker may object the male gaze. Actor Michelle Rodriguez debuts her career portraying the lead role of Diana and gives the audience a unique interpretation of the character. These crater like volcanoes are quite an uncommon occurrence, although they are not unique to just the Galapagos. However, the unusual part of these calderas is their size, especially compared to their relation to the size of the volcano. Calderas form after a collapse of a magma chamber located under the surface. The magma in these chambers give support to the volcano, but after the magma withdraws, the surrounding rock becomes unsupported and cannot bear the weight above them, and therefore they collapse. These calderas do not form in just one collapse; they slowly grow after many collapses. This was proven after a partial collapse of the caldera on Fernandina in 1968, as part of the crater dropped nearly 200 meters. Several other smaller collapses have occurred on Fernandina as well as other islands since the collapse in 1968. These calderas can also be refilled with magma, partially or all the way, and then reform. • 18. Indian Imperialism Rudyard Kipling stated, East is East and West is West, and never the twain shall meet (Velgen 240). One of the main questions posed by this novel, as asked by Mahmoud Ali and Hamidullah, is whether or not it is possible to be friendly with the Englishmen. The book serves as an example as to how difficult it might seem to achieve unity when there s diversity already present. This question is answered through discovering the personal relationships among the main characters in the novel and analyzing the effects of imperialism on the exploitation of those personal relationships. Set in British colonial India, the novel explores cultural, religious, and political barriers and the hostility between the subjects and the ruling class. India, a country already known to be diverse within itself and containing innumerable groups formed by social hierarchy and distinct traditions, was unaware of a society in which people of different backgrounds live in unity. It s very important to be educated on how the disease could affect you or someone you care about, and how you maybe able to deal with it. Cerebrovascular disease, also known as vascular dementia, is the second to most common form of dementia. It is characterized by blood vessels changing over time in the cerebrum (brain). The most common reason for vascular dementia is due to aging of the body; but it is also tied to cholesterol and the state of the walls of the blood vessels. Too much cholesterol and overall poor health of blood vessels can cause a thickness in the lining of the vessel walls, therefore cutting off some of the blood flow to the brain. Dementia often includes symptoms such as memory loss, trouble doing normal everyday activities, and problem solving. Once the symptoms come, they will most likely stay. They will only become worse and worse over time, so it s necessary to try and come to terms with the disease. Caregivers can try to make the person affected as comfortable as possible as their body is slowly transitioning. Because there is a loss of blood flow to the brain, signals that are necessary in order to keep the body functioning properly eventually stop being sent. The muscles will stop being sent signals to move, and sometimes the signal to breathe can even be stopped. There are approximately 47.5 million people in the world who suffer ... • 40. The Pros And Cons Of Creative Destruction Joseph Schumpeter was one of the most famous author and economist in the 20th century. Among his numerous findings, one stands out; creative destruction. Creation refers to disruptive innovation on one side, while destruction alludes to the disappearance of some jobs, industries or even sectors on the other. A popular example is transportation. When combustion engines were invented, horse drawn vehicles suddenly became out of age. On the short term, there was a lot of job destructions too. If there was no need for horse drawn vehicles, all adjacent sectors were hit hard: horse breeders were probably left with less demand, horse drawn vehicles companies began to lose their clientele. In creative destruction, neither does the creation part nor the destruction part happen overnight. Before being affordable to the masses and cause the economic disruption mentioned above, the auto industry had to undergo several incremental as opposed to disruptive changes. Eventually, fordism, which has been a cause of destructive creation as well, came along the way and created millions of jobs in the auto industry. When one looks at the jobs created directly, indirectly with auto part suppliers, auto dealers and thanks to new trade opportunities made possible by this new technology, it becomes obvious that if jobs losses can be painful, on the long run, benefits from creation overweight its drawbacks. • 42. Analysis Of Edith Wharton s Confession In some ways, we can use literature to view a glimpse of the past. Not only does literature often times reflect historical events, writing can also paint a picture of the culture and social norms during a specific time period. The Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Buffalo, Milton C. Albrecht, stated in his article that, Like other arts, literature has in the past been assumed to reflect cultural norms and values, the ethos and the stresses of a society, the process of dialect materialism, and the historical development of a society or culture (Albrecht 177). In the case of Edith Wharton s short story, Confession , there was both an influence from historical events and societal norms. Throughout the short story, there were three obvious influences from the time period. The story is loosely based on a historically famous murder trial that captivated the nation for years. Despite Wharton s use of historical context throughout the story, she managed to transfer the reader to the time period the story was written through her reflection of societal gender roles and financial stability during the early 1900s. Confession used a historical phenomenon to form a background for the life of the main character, Mrs. Ingram, who was a fictional representation of the historical figure known as Lizzie Borden. In the summer of 1892, Lizzie Borden was suspected of killing her father and step mother in their Massachusetts home. After a long and heated trial, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The disruption of homeostasis can affect many biological systems, such as metabolism, vascular function, tissue repair, nervous system and reproductive system. Both emotional and physical stress can have a negative impact on human reproductive function (Cousineau, 2007; Jakobovits et al, 2002). • 45. Art As A Driving Force For The Abstract Of Art Art can be for art s sake; it does not need to be representational. Jackson Pollock was an influential American painter who became a driving force for the abstract expression movement. His belief that his art comes from within was an impetrative idea behind his style. His beliefs have a huge impact on how I view art, create art, and inspired me for my final piece. Pollock was born in Cody, Wyoming in 1912. His father, LeRoy Pollock, was a farmer who raised his children in Arizona and Chico, California. Pollock was heavily influenced by Pablo Picasso, Digo Rivera, and Native American art. All of these influences contributed to Pollock s unique style. In 1929, Jackson Pollock studied at the Students League in New York under Thomas Hart Benton. He learned techniques that helped him understand space, line, color, and much more. In mid 1940 s Pollock introduced his famous drip paintings. These paintings were such a radical approach to the changes that happened during and after WWII. Media latched onto his methods and Life soon releases an article titled Jackson Pollock: Is he the greatest living painter in the United States? The content was mocking and respectful. Vogue magazine caught onto the avant garde artwork and joined the trend publishing fashion photographs in front of the beautiful drip paintings. These widely known companies persuaded society to accept the new idea to art. Pollock struggled with depression and alcoholism. His premature death in August of 1956, ... However there are several indication that some of the techniques used were based from Western films and its style and technique. During the first part of the movie where Sanjuro came to the deserted village that is somewhat abandoned by the Japanese Government, in actuality it is more like a ghost town. Most of the people in the world have somehow know this kind of situation whether it is from their history or they experience it themselves. The constant fear of fights broking out and the villagers being affected by it. The westerns adapting the Yojimbo showed that they themselves have this kind of history in the past, where the government have abandoned the town and the local police cannot do anything to stop these abusive gangs, whether it is only one gang or two. Another theme is these gangs have slaves which is also a universal theme that many people have learned that this kind of oppression and abuse is shown in history books. That is another reason why U.S. economic involvement in the DRC is seen as very important, because it produces stability in the region, leading into the next point. As stated at the end of the last paragraph, the U.S. must prevent more military destabilization in the region through both military and economic means. The early mission statement of the United States Africa Command states that the West s long term strategic interests in Africa are clear: we must thwart the growth of terrorism and transnational crime; we must prevent destabilizing mass migrations; and we must maintain secure trade links. Through military invention and economic aid, both the DRC and other nations in Africa as well as the United States will benefit with increased national security. In 2001, the UN blamed the various factions that fought a brutal five year war in the DRC for deliberately extending the conflict in order to plunder the country s extensive supplies of gold, diamonds, and timber (World Geography).
