Applying A Rolling Admissions Process
As mentioned earlier, when our prospect applies to the four selected colleges from Figure 6.4, they
will utilize the LSAC as mandated from each institution. That provides for straightforward
management of those applications with submission dates synchronizing with the University of Florida
the earliest one. That way, all institutions can be concurrently applied rather than piecemeal this
process. Anyway, it turns out that some of the law schools in question employ a rolling admissions
process where the institution can potentially notify applicants anytime inside a window of an
admissions decision. As a result, if all material checks for completeness and accuracy, doesn t it make
sense to submit all materials as early as possible? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To begin with, applicants must send official college transcripts using the Registrar at specific points in
the process; initially as preliminary transcripts, followed by periodic updates and finally after
graduation. Likewise, registrants having professional appraisals directed from third party principals on
their behalf utilize the Letter of Recommendation (LOR) and Evaluation services ultimately bundling
them with other CAS documentation. Figure 6.5 below provides a list of many or most requirements
and optional items that might accompany our prospect s applications, including the transcript release
forms for the Registrar and evaluation forms for individuals writing assessments discussed above.
They will, of course, vary per each school s admissions instructions. Sometimes people spend so much
time developing elaborate strategies and plans that they overlook the obvious. An applicant should
anticipate positive events just as diligently as preparing for failure (via a Plan B). The significance of a
rolling admissions process has the potential for receiving notifications at different points in time.
Understanding the acceptance/denial protocols regarding the admissions process for each institution
should not be disregarded. Another aspect seeks to avoid waiting for a preference never materializing

What Was The Schlieffen Plan
Schlieffen Plan became the German armed forces association of war towards France and Russia. The
Schlieffen Plan was made by means of Alfred Von Schlieffen, German Head of body of workers in
1904. The association was changed in 1905 to answer the two dangers of France and Russia. The
Schlieffen Plan became the operational association for an assigned assault on France once Russia,
because of universal pressure, had began to bring together their powers near the German outskirt. This
caused England having struggle on Germany in 1914. Schlieffen brought up to the Kaiser that his
arrangement is completed by 1916. He imagined that Germany can be sufficiently solid to have a
triumph. This association was played out in an impromptu manner. Schlieffen mull over the legislative
problems that were happening in EU countries and uproar would happen. The association changed and

Thirty four divisions, bolstered by using overwhelming established guns, could assault Belgium,
rapidly progressing to assault France from the northern Ardennes into the town of Lille. Schlieffen
foresaw little resistance from Belgium. He expected that the Belgians would basically deliver them a
threat to undergo, or, on the off hazard that they even battled, to be right away vanquished. A smaller
compel could be placed on the Franco German outskirts in the direction of the east of France to
warfare in opposition to an ordinary French countering. This constraint would gradually pull lower
back east, tricking the French armed force forward. Germany s precept attack could proceed from the
north. This will set off to the circle and past any doubt demolition of the French armed force. Taking
after this organized thrashing, the fronts would turn closer to Russia to reinforce the eight divisions

Federal Contracting Activities and Contract Types
This paper will discuss Booz Allen Hamilton. It will briefly discuss its history and then go into who
they are today. Finally, it will cover a major contract that they have recently acquired along with a few
particulars of that contract.
Edwin G. Booz started his first engineering company after a stint in the navy in 1914. After many
changes the firm officially became a management consulting firm called Booz Allen Hamilton in
1942. Today it is one of the most prestigious technology consulting firms in the world ... Show more

Provide staff and users with assistance solving computer related problems, such as malfunctions and
program problems. Test, maintain, and monitor computer programs and systems, including
coordinating the installation of computer programs and systems. Consult with management to ensure
agreement on system principles. Expand or modify system to serve new purposes or improve work
flow (Business Dictionary, 2012).
A lot of the work will consist of analyzing, testing, and modifying. This is why a CPAF contract was
used instead of a fixed cost contract because it is difficult to predict actual costs. A company would
put themselves in a bad situation to have a fixed cost contract if the costs where more than the
contracted amount (Murphy, 2009, pp. 24 7). As with any project, there will always be costs or
expenses associated. The type of expenses will always depend on the type of work or project. Some
expenses that will be associated with this contract are direct and indirect costs. Direct costs are costs
that can be totally identified with or traced back to a particular product or service. Those costs are
materials, labor, or expenses related to producing the product or service. Indirect costs are not easily
traced back to a particular product or service, or can be involved with other products or services in the
same time period. Booz Allen provides services so they will never have material costs associated with
any project

Game 4 Of The Western Conference Finals
Game 4 OT Thriller It was Saturday in Chicago, around 8 in the morning, that seemed to be moving as
fast as a turtle crawling a marathon. Shooting the breeze outside with my father, I was quietly
pondering a question. After staring into the distance, gazing at the alluring pine trees on the horizon
glistened by the scorching sun s rays, my dad broke the long silence. He said, son, why are you so
quiet? You seem to be in deep thought. Quietly I responded, You know that game 4 of the Western
Conference Finals is tonight, right? The look on his face was not promising, he seemed to know
exactly what I was going to ask. He quickly snarled, You re kidding me, I fly the entire family out to
Chicago and you want me to spend $658 for the two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As my family and I walked outside to get into the car, I gulped a fresh breath of outdoors, I could taste
the pine trees on my tongue causing my mouth to overflow with saliva. Exhaling I cherished how
proud I was of Evie make this big step and accepting Christ.
The drive from Chicago to Arlington Heights was almost an hour long. The whole time in the car I
couldn t keep my mind off the Chicago Blackhawks hockey game. How many times would the
opportunity arise that I would be in Chicago and the Blackhawks playing in the Stanley Cup semi
finals? There had to be a way we could find tickets for less than what my dad said they cost. An idea
hit me out of no where, I knew my uncle Larry was going to attend the Baptism, after all he is a
season ticket holder. I couldn t be selfish and just run up to him and ask if he had any extra tickets. My
entire family was going to be at the church and I wanted to be sure and enjoy the little time with them
since I no longer live in Chicago. Plus, the day wasn t about me or the game, it was all about my
cousin Evie accepting Jesus. As my family and I walked into the Church we all immediately went to
Evie and congratulated her on the big decision. After greeting with more relatives I found my seat and
waited patiently for the Baptism to begin. Out of no where I felt a presence behind me.

How Does Your Personality Shape Your Workplace Effectiveness
How does your personality shape your workplace effectiveness?
Introduction
Personality is an important trait which has an impact on the surrounding in your workplace. As a
manager, I believe that a workplace has several types of people who come from various religion, race,
country and cultural beliefs. Each individual need to be treated with respect and care, there issues need
to be addressed without neglecting and they should be given room for their own personal growth
within the organization. Personality is related to the culture being practiced in the organization. They
are directly proportional to each other. Culture needs to be initiated by the management and
employees follow it.
Effective management skills require managers to develop policies having the employees in mind,
along with this regular interval for employees and also trips can be organized for team building
purposes. Managers are known to have a good vision, interpersonal skill, technical skill and also
perception. As manager s, they need to understand their strengths and weaknesses by conducting
personality tests and follow certain practices to make their personality better in order to better deal
with employees. It needs a lot of dedication and commitment to be a good manager with pleasant
practices on a day to day basis. We as managers, need to remember that we are role models for the
employees in an organization and they look up to us to be a better person.

Act Of Congress 1890 Essay
Two Acts of Congress in 1890
The U.S. Congress passes an act that grants a pension to all wives of veterans who served in the
American Civil War. On April 10, 1890, Friederike (Miko) Ruesse fills out an application to receive a
widow s pension. Her late husband, Johann Voss, had served during the war. Rike goes to Nashville,
the county seat of Washington County, to see an attorney. Filling out a form, she swears to the
following:
In the state of Illinois, county of Washington, on this April 10, 1890, personally appeared before me,
Friederike Ruesse. Her age is 53 years and she is a resident of Plum Hill, Washington County, Illinois.
Sworn in, she makes the following declaration in order to obtain the pension provided by acts of

Attest John Blumhorst Her mark
Schneider and Blumhorst are witnesses who are present at the signing. Because Rike cannot read or
write, they swear that the mark made in place of her signature, is hers. (L149)
*Friederike does not mention Johann s 3 month service in the army prior to his enlistment for 3 years
in the 2nd Artillery Missouri Volunteers because it is not pertinent to this application. No pension was
granted for those who signed up for a 3 month duty.
**Friederike cannot read or write. This may help to explain why many of the dates she provides are
incorrect. John Voss died in 1873, not 1872, and she and Henry Ruesse married in 1874, not 1873. Her
daughter, Elizabeth, is born in 1865, not 1868. Her son, George, is born not in 1872, but in 1871.
Nevertheless, the documentation is accepted by the United States government and she is granted a
widow s pension. For the past 18 years, Joseph Kello has lived as a wanted man living the under the
alias of Charles Lorne. On June 27, 1890, the U.S. Congress passes an act that has a profound effect
on his life. It extends forgiveness to those who deserted from the army either during the Civil War or

The Centralization And Development Of Urbanization In Africa
Africa is a rapidly urbanizing continent, experiencing tremendous growth and transformation with an
increasing concentration of cities. Today, it boasts a greater number of urban dwellers than Europe,
Australia, North or South America. However, situations were not always so promising. The arrival of
imperialism and the start of colonial rule in the 19th century served to exploit the growth of physical,
economic, and human resources of a flourishing Africa to benefit European powers. By setting severe
economic and social restrictions on things such as trade and education, the Europeans developed a
colonized state which arrested all other natural development of the African system. Nonetheless,
during the approximately five and half decades after independence, citizens began to slowly migrate to
city hubs around the continent as various countries like Ethiopia and Tanzania developed socially and
politically. This movement from rural to urban, a typical mobility characteristic of Africa, resulted in
an expansion of leadership, institutions, and technical domains such design and finance. Urbanization
has thus played a significant role in the development of factors including gender, inequality, and
economic growth, as well as downturn. However, it has presented both opportunities and challenges
which, in turn, have impacted the state of cities in modern day Africa.
Since 1960, African cities have been growing fast, more so than the population. A direct result of this
rapid urbanization has been the growth of opportunities for people seeking a better, comfortable life
with their transition out of rural settings. For decades, this increased centralization has brought various
cultures, perspectives, and talents together in an effort to place Africa on the global, economic scale.
However, a drastic consequence of the growth of cities has been an increased inequality amongst its
members, both economically and in terms of the standard of living. Income inequality creates a
significant discrepancy between the rich and the poor. Whereas large manufacturers enjoy wealth
through their involvement in an export oriented economy, laborers work through grueling hours in
tiring conditions to earn minimum wage which can barely

The End to Slavery in the Caribbean Essay examples
The End to Slavery in the Caribbean
The Haitian Revolution (1791 1804) was the first successful slave revolt in the Caribbean, and it was
one of the most important events in the history of the Americas. Along with the obvious human rights
benefits that the Haitian
Revolution achieved, there were some serious setbacks for the nation as well.
Between 1783 and 1789, Saint Domingue was the foremost sugar producer in the region, but by the
end of the war the economy was completely destroyed, and to this day Haiti has not come anywhere
close to reattaining its once prominent economic status in the Caribbean. The results of the revolution
sent fear through the European consciousness as well as strengthened the growing idea ... Show more

India and China became major players in this solution due to their size, populations, and lack of
democracy. The British acquired Trinidad and
Guiana in the 1790s, and then flooded them with east Asians when slavery ended. Some 150,000 east
Asians traveled to Trinidad to in the nineteenth century, and 250,000 went to work in the cane fields of
Guiana.
The Two Migrations of the 19th Century
In the nineteenth century, a hundred million people crossed the oceans seeking employment. Of these
hundred million, around half were Europeans
(especially Italians and Irish) heading to European settlements like Argentina,
Chile, US, and Canada. The other fifty million were neither coming from nor going to European
settlements (this half was mainly composed of Indians and
Chinese heading to Trinidad or Guiana).
In essence, there were two migrations going on during the nineteenth century. The Africans and Asians
who left their continents in search of labor mostly engaged in wage labor at rates that the Europeans
would not accept.
The Europeans, for the most part, were coming from countries with more efficient agriculture which
yielded higher returns and wages. Another factor which divided the migration in two was racism. The
Asians who ended up in
British Guiana, Trinidad, Dutch Guiana, or Jamaica did not head to these places due to preference.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Karnovsky s Fixative
Karnovsky s fixative is made of gluteraldehyde, paraformaldehyde, and phosphate buffer. This
fixative is considered the best one used in this class, so the best results were expected when using
Karnovsky s fixative. Gluteraldehyde functions similarly to formaldehyde in that it cross links
effectively. However, this molecule is larger than that of formaldehyde, so it is not possible to use in
paraffin embedding, because the large wax molecules would be unable to penetrate the tissue after
fixation. The largest disadvantage of this exceptional fixative is the higher cost, both of the materials
required for fixation, and for the required plastic embedding rather than paraffin. On the other hand,
the benefits of using Karnovsky s fixative often outweigh the increased cost. The cytological
preservation of tissue using this fixative is incredible, and allows for great visualization of structures
under the microscope (Hopwood, 1967). This fixative can be used for electron microscopy due to this
feature, and offers stunning results using less powerful microscopes as well. A further disadvantage of
this fixative and embedding process is that the stains we are able to use are more limited as well.
Methods and materials Fixation
Please refer to the attached index for specific times and notes for each step performed in the fixation.

I Attended Western Kentucky University s Symphony Concert
I attended Western Kentucky University s symphony concert. It was on Friday, October 30th at
7:30pm. It was held in Van Meter Hall. Their event was named It s time for a treat. The symphony was
conducted by Dr. Brain St. John. Before it began, I read over the program that was handed out to find
out basic information. The history of the pieces helped in understanding them. The concert featured
many well known works by famous composers such as Camille Saint Saens, Modest Mussorgsky, and
Berlioz. The three pieces that are the most memorable in my mind are Overture to La Cenerentola , Là
ci darem la mano , and March to the Scaffold from Symphonie Fantastique. Beginning with the first
piece called Overture to La Cenerentola composed by Gioachino Rossini in 1817. It was part of the
Rossini s version of the opera, Cinderella. An overture is used to capture the audience s attention. It
informs the audience the concert is about to begin. This piece is still a good selection for an overture.
The contrasting soft and loud pitches made a good way to get the audience s attention. Also the brass
section became a vital piece towards the end with the intense The increasing and decreasing tempo
seemed like a good warning that the main event was about to begin. I really enjoyed this music. I felt
like it was light because of how the strings and woodwinds interacted. This helped the mood in the
room go from somber to upbeat. Là ci darem la mano by Wolfgang Mozart was my

Queen St nursery plan activities and exercises instantly according to the child s wants and needs at
that time. They take every day as it comes and plan directly around whatever the children show
interest and enjoyment in. However, the nursery do have floor books situated at the entrance where
there are experiences and outcomes that the children have achieved in the different areas of the
nursery, containing photos and evidence of what they completed. This supports responsive planning
and allows the Early Years Workers to plan approproate next steps accordingly. ***
Due to there being a high number of staff and Early Years Officers within the nursery, multiple
children can be attended to at the same time. Members of staff will greet the children when they first
come in individually, and will then ask them which area they would like to play at within the nursery.
If a child responds with an activity of some sort, then the staff member will take the child instantly to
that area and help them set it up and will stay with them whilst they complete the task***. Although
the children have a large amount of free choice and play within the day, there is a set structure of
events and times that the children are instructed to come together and part take in. (See Appendix 1)

Three Theories Of Social Movement
Question: Explain three theories on social movements with suitable example.
A social movement is a large group of people who are organized to promote or resist some social
change. A social movement is typically based upon two factors first, whom the movement is trying to
change, and second, how much change a movement is advocating. Social movements can occur at the
individual level or at the societal level, and they can advocate for either minor or radical changes.
Social movements are thus clearly different from historical movements, tendencies or trends. It is
important to note, however, that such tendencies and trends, and the influence of the unconscious or
irrational factors in human behavior, may be of crucial importance in illuminating ... Show more

Relative deprivation theory refers to the idea that feelings of deprivation and discontent are related to
a desired point of reference (i.e., reference groups). Feelings of relative deprivation arise when desires
become legitimate expectations and those desires are blocked by society. Social satisfaction is the
opposite of relative deprivation. Relative deprivation is generally considered to be the central variable
in the explanation of social movements and is used to explain the quest for social change that inspires
social movements; social movements emerge from collective feelings of relative deprivation. This
theory was explained by Karl Marx. He stated that excessive capitalistic exploitation leads to
impoverishment of the working classes, which compels them to overthrow their oppressors. However,
Karl Marx recognized that abject misery and exploitation do not necessarily result in revolutionary
fervor. Karl Marx also explained another type of deprivation called relative deprivation, which is a
situation where people believe that they are being deprived of what is rightfully belongs to

Summary Of Perfection Wasted By John Updike
An Explication of John Updike s Perfection Wasted
This poem dramatizes the conflict between losing someone s personality through death and the magic
within our own separate world s. In the poem personality is the most important part of life because it
can t be replicated by any person in the world because every person s personality is different and
unique in its own way. The personality that is shown in the poem is that the speaker is happy and full
of magic. John Updike uses this poem to tell a story through mostly imagery. The impression I
received throughout the entire poem is the cycle of life.
The main theme I have seen in this poem is how one s ways or personality can t be remade by
someone. You can imitate what a person does or how a person acts, but you will never replicate it one
hundred percent. The speaker in this poem talks about how when someone dies their personality will
be lost forever because it cannot be reperformed by someone else, not even the their closest friends or
family members. Imitators and descendants aren t the same. (Line 14) You can be near someone for
twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, fifty two weeks in a year and still not be them exactly.
When someone dies, there will be glimpses of them in others that they have touched through their
actions, but you will never fully see them in just one single person. You work on making the most
perfect personality for yourself throughout your whole life just to see that when you die it dies with
you. When you work this hard on something like this you don t want it to die so you make people
happy by using it, you help people by using it, you touch people by using it, just so that he wouldn t
ever be one hundred percent fully forgotten by those you knew, or those that knew you. All the
speaker will have left is the memories that she made with those that have or will pass on before her,
nothing more, nothing less. Memories are the only thing that others can give us that will stay with us
for an eternity, and we will never forget because our memories are always with us. The best kind of
memories that the speaker has is the ones when the speaker is with another person supporting them in
what they love to do. The speaker if this

himself and all of his family would be cursed with bad luck for the rest of eternity, which he did, he
failed to carry the woman up the hill. But Stanley broke this curse because the woman his grandfather

The Old Testament And New Testament
The names Old Testament and New Testament are inherently theological in nature. Because there is a
difference distinctly built into giving them different notations, it implies that there are differences
between each the Old Testament and the New Testament, whether it is subtle in nature or obvious in
nature. To Christians, the difference means that the Old Testament contains dealings between God and
the world and even some of the rules made are made irrelevant by the interactions of Christ Jesus with
the world. One of the differences between the New Testament and the Old Testament is the way each
of the Testaments describe God and God s nature. The Old Testament describes an angry God, one
who only created the world and was obsessed with laws and rules. The New Testament describes a
loving God who redeemed the world. The different ways the Old Testament and New Testament
describe God and his nature are very much influenced by their perspective of God. By the rules,
actions, and laws God made, the early writers of the Old Testament made their judgements about God
and wrote those perspectives into the books of the Old Testament. The writers of the Old Testament

The Positive And Negative Cons Of Credit Cards
For many years, there has been an ongoing debate whether using credit cards is a positive or a
negative idea. On the positive side, credit cards are a widely accepted method of payment across the
globe. One of the benefits of using your credit for payment is foreign travel, when you are traveling
out of the country it saves you from having to exchange your dollars for the local currency, your credit
card company calculates the exchange rate for you and automatically posts the correct charges to your
account. (Yuille). In addition, credit cards are great for emergency situations where you find yourself
in the position of having to spend a large sum of money that you had not budgeted for and may not
have the money readily available. These unforeseen expenditures can then be worked into a monthly
budget and be paid off in a series of monthly installments (Yuille). For instance, making a large
purchase with a credit card and promptly making your monthly payments until the debt is satisfied,
could improve your credit score which can help qualify for future loans should the need arise
(Detweiler). Furthermore, many credit card programs have rewards programs you may be eligible for.
Such as, being eligible to receive a percentage of your purchase as a cash back reward, earning airline
frequent flyer miles for each dollar you charge to your credit card and often you are offered discounts
on daily purchases (Vanderpool). Credit cards also allow for convenience. Having a credit card

Anglo Saxon Values In Beowulf
Within every culture come certain values and beliefs that signify them. The Anglo Saxons have prided
themselves on their great heroic warriors throughout the years. To be a hero was the greatest form of
respect to them, and to achieve such greatness you need to have bravery, faith, strength and loyalty. In
the story, Beowulf, the great warrior embodies all of the coveted traits of an Anglo Saxon warrior. The
significance of bravery, faith, strength and loyalty are shown heavily in Beowulf, accurately detailing
the Anglo Saxon culture and their beliefs in its entirety. Loyalty is one of the most prominent values of
an Anglo Saxon, and of a great warrior such as Beowulf. Within their culture, they thrived off of their

In the poem Beowulf is constantly prided on his physical strength, making him irresistible to women
and a person to envy or look up to for men. During the epic poem we hear of Beowulf constantly
being at top physical stature, an example being him ripping Grendel s arm off bare handed during their
bloody brawl; Clear proof of this could be seen in the hand the hero displayed high up near the roof:
the whole of Grendel s shoulder and arm, his awesome grasp . This shows that with his physical
strength and Gods well doing, he was able to bring the shoulder of Grendel as a trophy of his hard
earned win. Another one of the many examples of his physical strength is the recalling of a swimming
match between a foe of his, and how he had lost the battle, but not for the reasons that people believe;
However it occurred, my sword had killed nine sea monsters. Such night dangers and hard ordeals I
have never heard of nor of a man more desolate in surging waves. But worn out as I was, I survived,
came through with my life . Within Unferth trying to push Beowulf down from the high pedestal he
has been put up on by recalling a past swimming match, Beowulf has countered with a statement that
is more heroic that anything Unferth has ever done. Strength is completely embodied in Beowulf and
contributes to him being an Anglo Saxon

Red Star Research Paper
When gazing upon the night sky, there are many small shining lights. Though these small lights are
actually large balls of gas. These star s small appearance are simply due to the fact that they are
extremely far away from earth which makes us wonder what happens to them. As technology
progresses so does the discovery of science. Being able to observe the stars more efficiently, it is
discovered that stars goes through their own cycle of life, starting from birth to death.
Before a star is born, massive clouds of dust and gas are pulled together by gravity in space, called a
stellar nebula. These massive clouds are pulled to the center of the collapse into a number of points, or

In most cases a star will move into the planetary nebula phase, as an expanding, glowing shell of hot
gas also known as plasma. This happens from a low mass star in the end of their red giant phase,

star, due to stellar winds. If the dying star have a mass of over 8 suns, it will become a supernova. Just
like a planetary nebula, the cause of it is when a star runs out of nuclear fuel. From the massive star s
lack of outward pressure to balance its inward gravity, the star collapses into the core expelling a
nuclear explosion. Also like the nebula, gas and dusts are scattered around space that will be used for
the birth of future stars. At this point, the former supergiant is either a neutron star or a black

Analysis Of Vasquez s Theories And Factors Influencing...
Vasquez employs a gear analogy to express the interconnected nature of each of the four STEM
capabilities. Like the meshing of teeth on a system of gears, the four STEM fields are best taught,
learned and assessed together (Vasquez, Sneider, Comer, 2013, p. 12). Furthermore, Vasquez (2013)
recommends the following five guiding principles to guide the gear mesh alignment of the STEM
fields: focus on integration, establish relevance, emphasize 21st Century skills, challenge your
students, and mix it up (p. 18 19). However, Vasquez (2013) remains cognizant of the challenging
nature of implementing all five principles and urges educators to remember you don t have to do it all
(p.21). The subsequent paragraphs are an introspection regarding the degree of implementation and
the factors influencing the execution of the aforementioned principles in my current setting. The
primary principle expressed by Vasquez is the focus on integration. Vasquez(2013) states, that
combining two or more of the disciplines helps students see the relatedness of the concepts tying
together seemingly disjointed blocks of information (p.22). The yearly pacing of science instruction
shapes integration of the four disciplines. Science instruction occurs primarily during the third and
fourth quarter. A brief unit on magnetism takes place at the beginning of the second quarter.
Additionally, the emphasis on number sense and computation during this period is less conducive to

Essay About Ataturk
Mustafa Kemal Ataturk is known as a very important idealist in Turkey, which had become an idol for
Turks. One of the most important reasons he was that crucial for Turkey was that him being a
nationalist founder and leader, and the first president of the Turkish Republic. Ataturk was born in
Salonika (then known as the Ottoman Empire), in 1881 (Reed 577). According to Gawrych, The Great
War, nonetheless, ended in military defeat for Turkey and the severance of the Arab provinces from
the Ottoman Empire (35). After this defeat, being part of military, Ataturk took the control of
government and brought new reforms. The real truth is that, Ataturk, still being at his young ages,
started to think about making reforms for his country and society, and eventually had reached his goals
making Turkey a free and civilized country, by also being the first president of Turkey. There are

Blood Clotting And Human Life
Physiology is the study of how body of living things function. There are many issues in this topic but
the issue of blood clotting is a unique area of study. Blood clotting is also known as blood coagulation
and it has two definitions which vary because of its occurrences. Blood clotting is first defined as
natural sealing of an injured part of the body by blood for the purpose of preventing blood loss. The
second meaning of blood is concentration of blood in one part of the body like in lungs or veins. Many
researchers and physician concentrate more on veins clotting (inner clotting) of blood because it is a
threat to lives of many people. However, the paper will explore the two types of blood clotting and
come up with a conclusion on how the two types of blood clotting occur and how they are threat to
human life. The general objective of the paper is to research on the whole concept of physiology blood
clotting in human beings.
Research questions Some of the research questions are as follows;
How do the two types of blood clotting occur?
How is veins blood coagulation a threat to human life?
What is the difference between outer blood clotting and veins blood clotting?
Is there treatment for blood clotting?
How is outer blood clotting a benefit?
Literature review Researchers and scholars have written more on this topic and they have expressed
different views on both types of blood clotting. Physicians argue that body outer blood clotting which

The Importance Of Year-Round Schools
Why do we need year round schools. I agree with year round school 100%.There are 3,181 year round

kids, and year round schools are more exiting.Year round schools will be in all US schools within the
next 15 years. All year round students are in school for 45 days and then they have 15 days off. I think
its a good idea to have all year round school, more education and more learning for year round
students.

they might not remember. So when they get back to school and you talk about what happened a couple
days later and then none of the kids remember. Some kids have good memory and they remember
everything and then they know what to do.
Parents like when there kids learn more but then when they send them to year round they remeber and

Emperor Qin s Essay
As Roy Bennett once said, Success is not how high you have climbed, but how you make a positive
difference to the world . In past civilizations, a commonality amongst leaders is that they would use
force and fear to secure their power over people. The reason being is to avoid future riots and the
possibility of losing their territory to the people they conquered or their very own. However, there
were moments in history where rulers exerted their dominance without having to ruin the lives of
innocent people. When rulers clear themselves from selfish desires they become someone who their
people look up to no matter what background, and that is what it means to be a true leader. Although it
is thanks to Emperor Qin of China that people today have artifacts and information about his dynasty,
he was one of those rulers whose actions did not help his people prosper. Even though installing
public construction projects are usually a positive factor in boosting the economy, it was a downfall
for the people under Emperor Qin s rule because the fatalities [rate] was high (Rossabi, 64), and he
implemented forced labor (64) for his projects. In fact many of his projects may have not been the
intention for his people but rather his army, noble families, and his own legacy because of the labor
force that went behind the creation of elaborate palaces (64). Although he implemented the

Dietary approaches for long term weight loss have been a topic of interest for the past couple of
decades. As the rise of obesity continues, research is focused on macronutrient distribution and the
effect it has on an individual s long term weight. A diet that may be the most adequate with the
information collected could be a moderate protein diet with a low glycemic index and high omega 3
fatty acids and MUFAs. According to the research cited above, this diet seems to work the best for
overall weight loss and weight maintenance. Factors that should be considered in long term weight
loss include the difficulty of adherence to dietary patterns resulting in potential for meal replacements,
if necessary. Meal replacements and personalized diets might be needed to help increase long term
weight loss due to the different characteristics of each individual. Some individuals may not be able to
adhere to a standardized diet because they may have a serious health condition that needs a specialized

From only a handful of stores in 1987 to a billion dollar franchise today, the success of Starbucks is

How Did Machiavelli s Political Views Influence American...
In The Prince by Niccolo Machiavelli, Machiavelli writes about 16th century principalities and how
its princes should act. However, while these ideals may seem dated, Machiavelli s description holds
many similarities and differences to American politics today. Machiavelli s views on republics serve
as the first difference between his political views and the American government. Machiavelli generally
puts those in a republic in a negative light by claiming that the subjects of a republic are not used to
standing up for themselves and cannot agree to give themselves a leader. Therefore, it is not a sturdy
government to capture. Instead of finding the idea of no singular person being a leader a good way to
ensure statewide cooperation and content, Machiavelli claims that, In republics there is more vitality,
greater hatred, and more desire for vengeance, (Machiavelli, Chapter V). Which is a far cry to the
American government s oath to all of its freedoms and liberties. Machiavelli moves on to say that the
safest way to capture a republic state is to destroy it altogether. This shows his views on republics are
very much negative and that he believes they are almost a nuisance to a prince trying to maintain a
state. Of course this is a drastic difference to the American government, where its subjects thrive in a
republic. In other words, while Machiavelli believes no state could be maintained as a republic, the

Victorian Societies Terrible Treatment of Poor Children in Charles Dickens Oliver Twist
Charles Dickens wrote the novel Oliver Twist as a way of expressing his views on how the rich treated
the poor, and how he felt about the laws regarding the poor.
Charles Dickens lived in the 19th century when there was a social divide of the upper and lower class
citizens. The poor lived in: cramped, dirty and smelly conditions with no chance of money or
improved living conditions with a half decent life; whereas the upper class had total luxury with

Oliver was born in a small room moment before him mum passed away with a little baby with no
name in her arms. The careless attitude of those in authority is shown by the character of Mrs Mann.
She uses dire punishments such as locking the boys in the dark coal cellar . Oliver is even locked up
on his ninth birthday with a select party of two other young gentlemen . Here Dickens uses sarcasm to
emphasise the carelessness of those who worked with the children. The children mainly die of natural
causes, but Mrs Mann makes no effort at all to keep them alive.
The Board doesn t care about the boys in the workhouse, all they care about is themselves and
Dickens shows this by them always being seen round a big table full of food when there is a little half
starved boy right in front of it. Oliver was sent to pick open after a Board member said I know that
boy will be hung . In the workhouse the conditions are very poor, they work long hours and are
starved, all to save money and to put people off the idea of going there. The terrible conditions of the
workhouse are shown when Oliver asks for more gruel. Please, sir, I want some more. Dickens uses
exaggeration, and even a little bit of humour to for this part of the book. What seems to be a
reasonable, polite question from a growing boy is shown as a major insult and offence to authority.

historical underpinnings of manhood, and more generally, alternative constructions of the male
ontology and modality. Transcendental notions of masculinity have inevitably constrained the
contemporary man within set ideologies and values those which often enforce unrealistic and toxic
expectations. This conundrum is especially relevant in Australian society given the stereotypical and
diffused archetype of the Aussie Man ; which characteristics such as apathy, nobility and strength
forming the bedrock of the national identity. Tim Winton, a prominent Australian author, has
recognised and highlighted this issue in his collection of short stories The Turning, effectively
challenging timeless stereotypes and portraying distinctive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Vic Lang, one of the central characters, is arguably most affected by the constraints society places on
gender succumbing to romanticised ideologies.
Hence, Winton utilises the character to represent the typical male, whilst also exploring the underbelly
of a conforming male s wellbeing. Vic is symbolic of the detrimental effects maladaptive masculinity
can have on a young boys development, as he exhibits emotional instability.
In Damaged Goods , his wife Gail explains that he, displaying that Vic has rehearsed the ideology of a
man s apathy and lack of emotion.
Although he is clearly troubled by his past and unable to let go of aspects of it, he remains rigid and
distance in adulthood. Vic s psychological fragility is thus often explained by female characters. Here,
Winton simultaneously provides an external perspective and challenges the lack of rapport and self

The Impact Of Black Friday On American Symbols, Values And...
INTRODUCTION
Background and Problem
September 11, 2001. I was busy finishing my Rapport de Stage in the Mackworth College Library,
Derby, England, when a lady came to spread the bad news. Four commercial jetliners were hijacked
and diverted from their paths to be used as guided missiles. Two of the jetliners ended up by crashing
into the twin towers of the World Trade Center, New York City, around 9:00 a.m. local time. Half an
hour later, the third jetliner crashed into the Pentagon, whereas the forth one, supposedly on its way to
Washington D.C., crashed somewhere in Pennsylvania. However, the implications of that Black
Tuesday were far more complicated than the mere reported facts.
To President George W. Bush, the operations that were carried out against his country did not merely
represent acts of terror on American symbols, values and interests, but they represented acts of war
against the United States and to a large extent, the attacks were acts of war, indeed. According to many
critics, these attacks were unprecedented in American history in that they presented a direct, potential
threat to the American territory. The gravity of the event was manifest not only in terms of the scale of
the attacks, but also in terms of the direction in which the guns were pointed. As Chomsky explains
[t]he last time the national territory of the United States was under attack, or for that matter even
threatened, was when the British burned

Drug Legalization Essay
If drugs would to be legalized, there will have to be new set of laws to be follow. The major problem
with our society as in now, is the spending in drug wars. According to Gary E. Johnson in The Case
for Drug Legalization states how ...We are spending $150 billion a year to combat drugs. This also
includes spending in such as courts, jails , and police. But we should also consider, if drugs were to be
legalized, It ll be easier for the government to control and they will be able to tax the usage of drugs.
Especially, the legalization of drugs will help spend money on other things such as education, public
schools, emergency services and will save a lot of finance instead of spending on tracking down drug
lords. Nowadays drugs are being sold nationwide through black marketing and a lot of people could
get hands on , which cause competition between others drug lords, cartels and violence is erupted. I
believe if drugs were to be legalized , it would tremendously drop crime, murder, addiction to certain
drugs, and the government would regulate and tax drugs.
Second of all, the black market has been going for a while and it s used to sell illegal goods as a
underground economy, and many people buy drugs that aren t legal. This market gets by not being
taxed all and many people can get hands on drugs that can really be deleterious to themselves and
other people around them. If we would to legalize drugs , the black market would drop business and
the government would be able to track down who buys the drugs by having only stores that sell least
harmful drugs such as marijuana. For most, not all drugs should be legalized because of the dangerous
usage of drugs to the body especially if it s a first time taking in drugs. According to the article
Addiction Center.com explains that Over 90% of those with an addiction began drinking, smoking or
using illicit drugs before the age of 18. Even though with laws that enforce illegal drug usage, many
people take advantage of it because it s not easily to be find so they become addicted to small drugs
and eventually build up to using stronger drugs such as Psychedelic
Mushrooms,Opium,Lsd,Methamphetamine, and etc. If the black market business would be to decline

Compare And Contrast The Knight s Tale And The Wife Of Bath
In the fourteen hundreds women were seen differently by men than now a days. Women were viewed
as a price or as an honor. Men would do crazy things in order to have that women they desire in their
power. They would give up their lives for these special women who felt like queens around the men.
Since woman were always being treated as a treasure, they started getting used and expected
everything from men. In the Knight s tale and The Wife of Bath s Tale by Geoffrey Chaucer describe
how these things happened back then 1400 s. Both of these tales are similar of how women would act
with men.
Back then in the 1400 s some girls acted differently by having more respect to themselves, but some
didn t. Some girls liked going out there to have some pleasure. In the Knight s Tale there this beautiful
girl named Jocelyn who is very flirty with the men that comments, Better a silly girl with a flower

If the situation is in between a woman and two men, and both of the men want her, then there is going
to be serious problems. In the Knight s Tale two men are placed in the same situation after they fell in

beautiful girl. Before the war one of the contestant states, My pride is the only thing that they can t
take from me. Men are very prideful of who they are in society, and that is why he won t take any
chance of loosing this intense fight. By winning something you have fought for, gives you the honor
to show it off out in public. That s what one of the contestant was going to do, but he died by a natural

A Life Worth Living: Extreme Sports Extreme sports include of variety of physical intense activities
that incite a new emotion, a rush of adrenaline, and a time commitment. In addition such intense
exercise requires focus and willpower and the athletes are required to work at optimal levels
individually and often as a team. However, in spite of all their physical and psychological benefits,
extreme sports offer, there are disadvantages. People do not understand the serious training involved
and place themselves in a dangerous situation which can involve injury or even death. A few examples
of these non mainstream sports include big wave surfing, BASE jumping, BMX riding, skydiving,

How can you know how worthwhile life is for anyone else if people are not giving the choice to live
with the greatest freedom possible. For many these extreme sports are the ultimate goodness that life
has to offer. As Socrates well understood that the unexamined life refers to a way of life lived by
routine under the established rules of others without the subject ever examining whether or not he or
she really wants to live with those rules or routines. According to Socrates, this type of life, had little
purpose, and was not worth living. Rather than an unexamined life, Socrates chose death.
Analogously, each person should be afforded the freedom to understand the training, discipline, and
risks involved with extreme sports. At the same time, each person should be allowed to make their
choices in participating in these extreme sports to achieve their greatest physical and psychological
challenge. For some, this is the beginning of a life deeply worth

A Bugs Life Sociological Analysis
A Bugs life is a Disney Pixar animated film which involves Ants and other bugs coming together to
fight the Grasshoppers. Hopper is the dominant male grasshopper character and in the film states that
he wants to keep the ants in line and doesn t care about the food (Bugs Life 1998). In Bug s Life the
relationship between the grass hoppers and the ants can be described and discussed in terms of the
theory of class by Karl Marx (1818 1883).
Marx first stated that because of the economic growth in Europe it turned most people in to capitalists
(Sociology, 2012). Therefore Marx divided capitalism into two separate classes. One being the class
that owned the means of production for example the owners of the factories. This class were also

Karl Marx believed that a capitalist society was to blame for alienation of the workers (Sociology,
2013). Alienation involves workers feeling isolated and away from the end product. Which
dehumanizes them making workers feel unsatisfied and feel as though they are unable to improve their
lifestyle. He found particular ways to which capitalism alienates those who work. Those ways were
split in to four different categories, which are: Being alienated from the act of working which is being
alienated from their own choice as they are not given a right to decide what product to make and how
they are going to make it. There is also being alienated from the product, this can be linked to the
Bugs Life as the food the ants provide for the grass hoppers is not seen again after being taken away
from them. The feeling of being alienated from other workers, Marx stated is also a type of alienation
which can also be linked with Bugs Life as throughout the season the focus for the ants is to collect
food from the grasshoppers by walking in single file lines, therefore are not able to talk to one another.
The final type of alienation according to Marx is the feeling of being alienated from their human
potential which is where one lacks the ability to develop and gain knowledge whilst at work which
helps dehumanize them as they are not living up to their human

1.6 POWER SUPPLY:
Power supply is a reference to a source of electrical power. A device or system that supplies electrical
or other types of energy to an output load or group of loads is called a power supply unit or PSU. The
term is most commonly applied to electrical energy supplies, less often to mechanical ones, and rarely
to others. Here in our application we need a 5v DC power supply for all electronics involved in the
project. This requires step down transformer, rectifier, voltage regulator, and filter circuit for
generation of 5v DC power. Here a brief description of all the components are given as follows:

Why Corporations Should Not Hire Military Veterans
Military veterans have many characteristics that show good leadership and courage, which is what
companies should be aspiring to have in their employees. Instead, many corporations are purposely
not hiring military veterans; resulting in thousands becoming homeless. Corporations are
discriminating against our soldiers and the government is not endeavoring to help these soldiers either.
Companies automatically assume that vets suffer from mental illnesses, are irrational and violent, and
are uneducated and incompetent. Our government needs to establish more programs that will benefit
our soldiers such as: creating shelter homes; providing them with therapists to help them with newly
developed mental disorders; and allowing them to gain stability by giving them more job
opportunities. There are numerous reasons as to why corporations are choosing to not hire military
veterans. There are two sets of reasons: one being the reasons that corporations tell the public and, two
being what they truly mean but will not announce freely to the public. In the article, 5 Reasons Why
Employers Are Not Hiring Vets by Lisa Nagorny and Dan Pick, student veterans at Wharton s MBA
for Executives program, Nagorny and Pick discuss the interviews they conducted with 87 individuals
and 69 companies. At the end of their study, they concluded five main reasons on why employers do
not hire veterans. Those reasons came down to being: skill translation; negative stereotypes; skill
mismatch; concern

Humanistic Approach
Comparing and analyzing the biological and humanistic approaches to personality can be a difference
of opinions. Abraham Maslow studied the development of personality. Maslow developed his own
personality theory based on the basic human needs. His hierarchy of needs pyramid shows the
influences of human needs to the formation of unique individual personality. There are biological
factors that influence the formation of individual personality that play a factor. By reviewing the
relationships between biological factors and Maslow s theory of personality you will be able to see
focused similarities and it s upcoming. Analyzing the basic aspects of the humanistic theory with the
biological explanations of personality will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Maslow, the biological factors are important to the personality theory. Physiological and
biological needs in conjunction depend upon the same things. Physiological needs are the very basic
needs such as air, water, food, sleep, sex, etc. When these are not satisfied people may feel sickness,
irritation, pain, discomfort, etc. These feelings motivate people to focus on alleviating them as soon as
possible to establish homeostasis. Once the feelings are alleviated, people may think about other
things. The body needs are biological and consists of the needs for air, food, water and a temperature
range as do the physiological needs. These needs can be very strong because if deprived over time, the
person will die. The relationship of the biological factors to personality is important because an
individual is ready to act upon the growth needs if and only if the deficiency needs are met. When the
needs are met people attempt to get more accomplished, therefore causing them to generate their very
own personality traits. Looking at the basic aspects of humanistic theory, it is somewhat incompatible
with the biological explanations of personality. According to the biological explanation of personality,
the general idea of Maslow s hierarchy is that everyone is born with specific needs. If people do not
meet those base needs, they are unable to

Chesapeake Bay Ecosystem Research Paper
Chapter II: Conservation of Specific Functions, Habitats, Features and Species
Many habitats in the Chesapeake Bay watershed are degrading by time and losing their functionality.
Because it sounds as Utopia to conserve and protect all the habitats in such a complex ecosystem, the
most important habitats shall be targeted. These specific habitats are the wetlands, riparian forest and
streams. Each of these habitats represents one of the essential landscape ecology principles. Wetlands
act as buffer zone and provide critical habitat to some species in the Bay. It is important to sustain the
Estuarine Emergent Wetlands in order to provide a place for breeding, nursery and reproduction. The
riparian forest buffer represents the patch edge which normally functions as a filter that reduces the
surrounding influence on the interior patch, the Bay and wetlands (Dramstad, Olson and Forman,
1996:29). The forests filter ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Besides, the streams or river systems act as corridors. A continuous stream corridor is necessary to
maintain landscape connectivity and aquatic conditions including cool water temperature and high
oxygen content (Dramstad, Olson and Forman, 1996:40).
The above mentioned habitats are crucial because it support priority species in the Bay. Although
more than 3,600 different species of plants and animals live in the tidal waters of the Bay, there are
priority species that shall be protected. The most important keystone species are the Blue Crab, the
Oysters, the Bald Eagle and the Black Duck. Keystone species are valuable components at the
community scale because they maintain biodiversity and influence critical ecological process (Peck,
1998:34). Blue crabs not only

The Consumer Of Shopper Marketing
A deep understanding to the statistics for the American consumer regarding shopper marketing is not
just about what activity is in the store but about the capacity to gain an understanding from the
influences right around the store brining in the new customers. Know your brand by grasping the
benefits and money invested that would influence shopper s decisions such as in a recession, the non
essentials is hit the hardest. Price is the dominant power of selection but is not the only choice.
Shopper marketing is a marketing program set to approach customers inside of the brick and mortar
stores. Examples of shopper marketing which could be favorable for both manufacturers and retailers
are anything from a tear off tablet of sweepstakes to the integration in store shopping phone app or
even the end cap aisle display. Companies make laundry detergent knows who buys the most products,
what forms they prefer, what stains they find the toughest such as Tide. Manufacturers work together
with retailers on a shared strategy. Kimberly Clark works with Target to design a new solution to
celebrate mothers and their babies as they move from diapers to training pants. Target was looking to
increase sales of baby clothes; they started to reconsider the layout of their stores. As a mother, I have
placed a lot of weight on the transition from diapers to the right training pants. This becomes a major
transition on both the mother and child. Target had stocked diapers and training

Fargo Film Analysis
Fargo is a movie directed by Joel Coen and Ethan Coen who are brothers. It is a 1996 American crime
film. Unlike most common movies, Fargo has its own style. The story is linear. It tells a story in three
different lines. The beginning of the film shows a few lines of subtitles. It is adapted from a true story
took place in Minnesota in 1987. The reason why this is done, just to be more attractive, if audiences
feel it is real, then they will go down. Coen uses lively narrative rhythm in this film. For them,

  • 2. Applying A Rolling Admissions Process As mentioned earlier, when our prospect applies to the four selected colleges from Figure 6.4, they will utilize the LSAC as mandated from each institution. That provides for straightforward management of those applications with submission dates synchronizing with the University of Florida the earliest one. That way, all institutions can be concurrently applied rather than piecemeal this process. Anyway, it turns out that some of the law schools in question employ a rolling admissions process where the institution can potentially notify applicants anytime inside a window of an admissions decision. As a result, if all material checks for completeness and accuracy, doesn t it make sense to submit all materials as early as possible? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To begin with, applicants must send official college transcripts using the Registrar at specific points in the process; initially as preliminary transcripts, followed by periodic updates and finally after graduation. Likewise, registrants having professional appraisals directed from third party principals on their behalf utilize the Letter of Recommendation (LOR) and Evaluation services ultimately bundling them with other CAS documentation. Figure 6.5 below provides a list of many or most requirements and optional items that might accompany our prospect s applications, including the transcript release forms for the Registrar and evaluation forms for individuals writing assessments discussed above. They will, of course, vary per each school s admissions instructions. Sometimes people spend so much time developing elaborate strategies and plans that they overlook the obvious. An applicant should anticipate positive events just as diligently as preparing for failure (via a Plan B). The significance of a rolling admissions process has the potential for receiving notifications at different points in time. Understanding the acceptance/denial protocols regarding the admissions process for each institution should not be disregarded. Another aspect seeks to avoid waiting for a preference never materializing only to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is why a CPAF contract was used instead of a fixed cost contract because it is difficult to predict actual costs. A company would put themselves in a bad situation to have a fixed cost contract if the costs where more than the contracted amount (Murphy, 2009, pp. 24 7). As with any project, there will always be costs or expenses associated. The type of expenses will always depend on the type of work or project. Some expenses that will be associated with this contract are direct and indirect costs. Direct costs are costs that can be totally identified with or traced back to a particular product or service. Those costs are materials, labor, or expenses related to producing the product or service. Indirect costs are not easily traced back to a particular product or service, or can be involved with other products or services in the same time period. • 8. The Centralization And Development Of Urbanization In Africa Africa is a rapidly urbanizing continent, experiencing tremendous growth and transformation with an increasing concentration of cities. Today, it boasts a greater number of urban dwellers than Europe, Australia, North or South America. However, situations were not always so promising. The arrival of imperialism and the start of colonial rule in the 19th century served to exploit the growth of physical, economic, and human resources of a flourishing Africa to benefit European powers. By setting severe economic and social restrictions on things such as trade and education, the Europeans developed a colonized state which arrested all other natural development of the African system. Nonetheless, during the approximately five and half decades after independence, citizens began to slowly migrate to city hubs around the continent as various countries like Ethiopia and Tanzania developed socially and politically. This movement from rural to urban, a typical mobility characteristic of Africa, resulted in an expansion of leadership, institutions, and technical domains such design and finance. Urbanization has thus played a significant role in the development of factors including gender, inequality, and economic growth, as well as downturn. However, it has presented both opportunities and challenges which, in turn, have impacted the state of cities in modern day Africa. Since 1960, African cities have been growing fast, more so than the population. A direct result of this rapid urbanization has been the growth of opportunities for people seeking a better, comfortable life with their transition out of rural settings. For decades, this increased centralization has brought various cultures, perspectives, and talents together in an effort to place Africa on the global, economic scale. However, a drastic consequence of the growth of cities has been an increased inequality amongst its members, both economically and in terms of the standard of living. Income inequality creates a significant discrepancy between the rich and the poor. Whereas large manufacturers enjoy wealth through their involvement in an export oriented economy, laborers work through grueling hours in tiring conditions to earn minimum wage which can barely ... The End to Slavery in the Caribbean Essay examples The End to Slavery in the Caribbean The Haitian Revolution (1791 1804) was the first successful slave revolt in the Caribbean, and it was one of the most important events in the history of the Americas. Along with the obvious human rights benefits that the Haitian Revolution achieved, there were some serious setbacks for the nation as well. Between 1783 and 1789, Saint Domingue was the foremost sugar producer in the region, but by the end of the war the economy was completely destroyed, and to this day Haiti has not come anywhere close to reattaining its once prominent economic status in the Caribbean. India and China became major players in this solution due to their size, populations, and lack of democracy. The British acquired Trinidad and Guiana in the 1790s, and then flooded them with east Asians when slavery ended. Some 150,000 east Asians traveled to Trinidad to in the nineteenth century, and 250,000 went to work in the cane fields of Guiana. The Two Migrations of the 19th Century In the nineteenth century, a hundred million people crossed the oceans seeking employment. Of these hundred million, around half were Europeans (especially Italians and Irish) heading to European settlements like Argentina, Chile, US, and Canada. The other fifty million were neither coming from nor going to European settlements (this half was mainly composed of Indians and Chinese heading to Trinidad or Guiana). In essence, there were two migrations going on during the nineteenth century. The Africans and Asians who left their continents in search of labor mostly engaged in wage labor at rates that the Europeans would not accept. The Europeans, for the most part, were coming from countries with more efficient agriculture which yielded higher returns and wages. Another factor which divided the migration in two was racism. The Asians who ended up in British Guiana, Trinidad, Dutch Guiana, or Jamaica did not head to these places due to preference. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Karnovsky s Fixative Karnovsky s fixative is made of gluteraldehyde, paraformaldehyde, and phosphate buffer. This fixative is considered the best one used in this class, so the best results were expected when using Karnovsky s fixative. Gluteraldehyde functions similarly to formaldehyde in that it cross links effectively. However, this molecule is larger than that of formaldehyde, so it is not possible to use in paraffin embedding, because the large wax molecules would be unable to penetrate the tissue after fixation. The largest disadvantage of this exceptional fixative is the higher cost, both of the materials required for fixation, and for the required plastic embedding rather than paraffin. On the other hand, the benefits of using Karnovsky s fixative often outweigh the increased cost. The cytological preservation of tissue using this fixative is incredible, and allows for great visualization of structures under the microscope (Hopwood, 1967). This fixative can be used for electron microscopy due to this feature, and offers stunning results using less powerful microscopes as well. A further disadvantage of this fixative and embedding process is that the stains we are able to use are more limited as well. Methods and materials Fixation Please refer to the attached index for specific times and notes for each step performed in the fixation. All steps were done according to protocols provided by Dr. Huebner (2017). For the fixation using Neutral Buffered Formalin, I used full size, uncut ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. I Attended Western Kentucky University s Symphony Concert I attended Western Kentucky University s symphony concert. It was on Friday, October 30th at 7:30pm. It was held in Van Meter Hall. Their event was named It s time for a treat. The symphony was conducted by Dr. Brain St. John. Before it began, I read over the program that was handed out to find out basic information. The history of the pieces helped in understanding them. The concert featured many well known works by famous composers such as Camille Saint Saens, Modest Mussorgsky, and Berlioz. The three pieces that are the most memorable in my mind are Overture to La Cenerentola , Là ci darem la mano , and March to the Scaffold from Symphonie Fantastique. Beginning with the first piece called Overture to La Cenerentola composed by Gioachino Rossini in 1817. It was part of the Rossini s version of the opera, Cinderella. An overture is used to capture the audience s attention. It informs the audience the concert is about to begin. This piece is still a good selection for an overture. The contrasting soft and loud pitches made a good way to get the audience s attention. A social movement is a large group of people who are organized to promote or resist some social change. A social movement is typically based upon two factors first, whom the movement is trying to change, and second, how much change a movement is advocating. Social movements can occur at the individual level or at the societal level, and they can advocate for either minor or radical changes. Social movements are thus clearly different from historical movements, tendencies or trends. Relative deprivation is generally considered to be the central variable in the explanation of social movements and is used to explain the quest for social change that inspires social movements; social movements emerge from collective feelings of relative deprivation. This theory was explained by Karl Marx. He stated that excessive capitalistic exploitation leads to impoverishment of the working classes, which compels them to overthrow their oppressors. • 16. Summary Of Perfection Wasted By John Updike An Explication of John Updike s Perfection Wasted This poem dramatizes the conflict between losing someone s personality through death and the magic within our own separate world s. In the poem personality is the most important part of life because it can t be replicated by any person in the world because every person s personality is different and unique in its own way. The personality that is shown in the poem is that the speaker is happy and full of magic. John Updike uses this poem to tell a story through mostly imagery. The impression I received throughout the entire poem is the cycle of life. The main theme I have seen in this poem is how one s ways or personality can t be remade by someone. You can imitate what a person does or how a person acts, but you will never replicate it one hundred percent. The speaker in this poem talks about how when someone dies their personality will be lost forever because it cannot be reperformed by someone else, not even the their closest friends or family members. Imitators and descendants aren t the same. (Line 14) You can be near someone for twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, fifty two weeks in a year and still not be them exactly. When someone dies, there will be glimpses of them in others that they have touched through their actions, but you will never fully see them in just one single person. You work on making the most perfect personality for yourself throughout your whole life just to see that when you die it dies with you. When you work this hard on something like this you don t want it to die so you make people happy by using it, you help people by using it, you touch people by using it, just so that he wouldn t ever be one hundred percent fully forgotten by those you knew, or those that knew you. All the speaker will have left is the memories that she made with those that have or will pass on before her, nothing more, nothing less. Memories are the only thing that others can give us that will stay with us for an eternity, and we will never forget because our memories are always with us. The best kind of memories that the speaker has is the ones when the speaker is with another person supporting them in what they love to do. The speaker if this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Because there is a difference distinctly built into giving them different notations, it implies that there are differences between each the Old Testament and the New Testament, whether it is subtle in nature or obvious in nature. To Christians, the difference means that the Old Testament contains dealings between God and the world and even some of the rules made are made irrelevant by the interactions of Christ Jesus with the world. One of the differences between the New Testament and the Old Testament is the way each of the Testaments describe God and God s nature. The Old Testament describes an angry God, one who only created the world and was obsessed with laws and rules. The New Testament describes a loving God who redeemed the world. The different ways the Old Testament and New Testament describe God and his nature are very much influenced by their perspective of God. By the rules, actions, and laws God made, the early writers of the Old Testament made their judgements about God and wrote those perspectives into the books of the Old Testament. The writers of the Old Testament did the best they could with the information they had and got some things about God right, but also got things wrong. On the positive side, credit cards are a widely accepted method of payment across the globe. One of the benefits of using your credit for payment is foreign travel, when you are traveling out of the country it saves you from having to exchange your dollars for the local currency, your credit card company calculates the exchange rate for you and automatically posts the correct charges to your account. (Yuille). In addition, credit cards are great for emergency situations where you find yourself in the position of having to spend a large sum of money that you had not budgeted for and may not have the money readily available. These unforeseen expenditures can then be worked into a monthly budget and be paid off in a series of monthly installments (Yuille). For instance, making a large purchase with a credit card and promptly making your monthly payments until the debt is satisfied, could improve your credit score which can help qualify for future loans should the need arise (Detweiler). Furthermore, many credit card programs have rewards programs you may be eligible for. Such as, being eligible to receive a percentage of your purchase as a cash back reward, earning airline frequent flyer miles for each dollar you charge to your credit card and often you are offered discounts on daily purchases (Vanderpool). Like the meshing of teeth on a system of gears, the four STEM fields are best taught, learned and assessed together (Vasquez, Sneider, Comer, 2013, p. 12). Furthermore, Vasquez (2013) recommends the following five guiding principles to guide the gear mesh alignment of the STEM fields: focus on integration, establish relevance, emphasize 21st Century skills, challenge your students, and mix it up (p. 18 19). However, Vasquez (2013) remains cognizant of the challenging nature of implementing all five principles and urges educators to remember you don t have to do it all (p.21). The subsequent paragraphs are an introspection regarding the degree of implementation and the factors influencing the execution of the aforementioned principles in my current setting. The primary principle expressed by Vasquez is the focus on integration. Vasquez(2013) states, that combining two or more of the disciplines helps students see the relatedness of the concepts tying together seemingly disjointed blocks of information (p.22). The yearly pacing of science instruction shapes integration of the four disciplines. Science instruction occurs primarily during the third and fourth quarter. From only a handful of stores in 1987 to a billion dollar franchise today, the success of Starbucks is due in great deal to their corporate culture, specifically how employees, or as Starbucks calls them, partners are treated. Joseph Michelli (2007) echoes this sentiment, A great cup of coffee is only part of the Starbucks success equation (p. 767). The Starbucks corporation feels that the Starbucks Experience starts with their employees. If their employees are happy, their employees create better experiences for their customers. This creative approach to the management of people shows. Michelli (2007) highlights that the turnover rate at Starbucks is much lower than at other similar establishments, 120 percent less than the industry average (p. 282). He further goes on to mention that employees have an 82% job satisfaction rate (p. 282). This deep desire to treat employees fairly stems from Schultz s ideals. He himself mentions, As a business leader, my quest has never been just about winning or making money; it has also been about building a great, enduring company, which has always meant trying to strike a balance between profit and social conscience (Schultz, p. 107). Many believe his deep sense of empathy stems from his early childhood where his father was ill and could not hold a job. This is reflected today in his treatment of his employees. All ... • 33. How Did Machiavelli s Political Views Influence American... In The Prince by Niccolo Machiavelli, Machiavelli writes about 16th century principalities and how its princes should act. However, while these ideals may seem dated, Machiavelli s description holds many similarities and differences to American politics today. Machiavelli s views on republics serve as the first difference between his political views and the American government. Machiavelli generally puts those in a republic in a negative light by claiming that the subjects of a republic are not used to standing up for themselves and cannot agree to give themselves a leader. Therefore, it is not a sturdy government to capture. Instead of finding the idea of no singular person being a leader a good way to ensure statewide cooperation and content, Machiavelli claims that, In republics there is more vitality, greater hatred, and more desire for vengeance, (Machiavelli, Chapter V). Which is a far cry to the American government s oath to all of its freedoms and liberties. Machiavelli moves on to say that the safest way to capture a republic state is to destroy it altogether. This shows his views on republics are very much negative and that he believes they are almost a nuisance to a prince trying to maintain a state. Of course this is a drastic difference to the American government, where its subjects thrive in a republic. Victorian Societies Terrible Treatment of Poor Children in Charles Dickens Oliver Twist Charles Dickens wrote the novel Oliver Twist as a way of expressing his views on how the rich treated the poor, and how he felt about the laws regarding the poor. Charles Dickens lived in the 19th century when there was a social divide of the upper and lower class citizens. The poor lived in: cramped, dirty and smelly conditions with no chance of money or improved living conditions with a half decent life; whereas the upper class had total luxury with everything done for them. Here Dickens uses sarcasm to emphasise the carelessness of those who worked with the children. The children mainly die of natural causes, but Mrs Mann makes no effort at all to keep them alive. The Board doesn t care about the boys in the workhouse, all they care about is themselves and Dickens shows this by them always being seen round a big table full of food when there is a little half starved boy right in front of it. Oliver was sent to pick open after a Board member said I know that boy will be hung . In the workhouse the conditions are very poor, they work long hours and are starved, all to save money and to put people off the idea of going there. The terrible conditions of the workhouse are shown when Oliver asks for more gruel. Please, sir, I want some more. Dickens uses exaggeration, and even a little bit of humour to for this part of the book. This conundrum is especially relevant in Australian society given the stereotypical and diffused archetype of the Aussie Man ; which characteristics such as apathy, nobility and strength forming the bedrock of the national identity. • 39. The Impact Of Black Friday On American Symbols, Values And... INTRODUCTION Background and Problem September 11, 2001. I was busy finishing my Rapport de Stage in the Mackworth College Library, Derby, England, when a lady came to spread the bad news. Four commercial jetliners were hijacked and diverted from their paths to be used as guided missiles. Two of the jetliners ended up by crashing into the twin towers of the World Trade Center, New York City, around 9:00 a.m. local time. Half an hour later, the third jetliner crashed into the Pentagon, whereas the forth one, supposedly on its way to Washington D.C., crashed somewhere in Pennsylvania. However, the implications of that Black Tuesday were far more complicated than the mere reported facts. To President George W. Bush, the operations that were carried out against his country did not merely represent acts of terror on American symbols, values and interests, but they represented acts of war against the United States and to a large extent, the attacks were acts of war, indeed. According to many critics, these attacks were unprecedented in American history in that they presented a direct, potential threat to the American territory. The gravity of the event was manifest not only in terms of the scale of the attacks, but also in terms of the direction in which the guns were pointed. As Chomsky explains [t]he last time the national territory of the United States was under attack, or for that matter even threatened, was when the British burned ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to Gary E. Johnson in The Case for Drug Legalization states how ...We are spending $150 billion a year to combat drugs. This also includes spending in such as courts, jails , and police. But we should also consider, if drugs were to be legalized, It ll be easier for the government to control and they will be able to tax the usage of drugs. Especially, the legalization of drugs will help spend money on other things such as education, public schools, emergency services and will save a lot of finance instead of spending on tracking down drug lords. Nowadays drugs are being sold nationwide through black marketing and a lot of people could get hands on , which cause competition between others drug lords, cartels and violence is erupted. I believe if drugs were to be legalized , it would tremendously drop crime, murder, addiction to certain drugs, and the government would regulate and tax drugs. Second of all, the black market has been going for a while and it s used to sell illegal goods as a underground economy, and many people buy drugs that aren t legal. This market gets by not being taxed all and many people can get hands on drugs that can really be deleterious to themselves and other people around them. If we would to legalize drugs , the black market would drop business and the government would be able to track down who buys the drugs by having only stores that sell least harmful drugs such as marijuana. For most, not all drugs should be legalized because of the dangerous usage of drugs to the body especially if it s a first time taking in drugs. According to the article Addiction Center.com explains that Over 90% of those with an addiction began drinking, smoking or using illicit drugs before the age of 18. Even though with laws that enforce illegal drug usage, many people take advantage of it because it s not easily to be find so they become addicted to small drugs and eventually build up to using stronger drugs such as Psychedelic Mushrooms,Opium,Lsd,Methamphetamine, and etc. If the black market business would be to decline ...
