The Extinction Of Homelessness Essay
The Extinction of Homelessness
As 2016 has begun to come to an end. Most families in America are focusing on the presidential
election, planning year end events or even establishing resolutions for the new year. While the
invisible part of most cities population is faced with a pivotal decision. How will I survive a brutal
winter without proper housing? On the surface this may appear to be an uncomplicated matter, to
the casual eye, but it is genuinely a painstakingly complicated matter. Communities worldwide are
relentlessly attempting to deal with overwhelming amount of homeless citizen and trying to
decipher the possible causes, so that an effective long term remedy can be achieved. Possibly it is
the perfect moment to embrace a new fangled innovative way that will contribute to the
radicalization of this rapidly developing crisis. By taking a proactive approach it is possible to
terminate this deplorable situation.
Defining Homeless ness
Homelessness is defined in many ways. Most people have a different perspective on the
definition of homelessness. Based on U S Codes The general definition of homeless, homeless
individual, and homeless person mean (1) an individual or family who lack a fixed, regular, and
adequate nighttime residence, (2) an individual or family with a primary nighttime residence that
is a public or private place not designed for or ordinarily used as a regular sleeping accommodation
for human beings, including a car, park, abandoned buildings, bus

Psychology Of Groups
The thought of sitting in a room filled with people who have similar interests and enjoy each other
s company seems a lot better than being alone, and not being included in the cluster of people.
There are many reasons why people may want to join groups and Bill Wasik, who writes
My Crowd Experiment: The Mob Experiment talks about some of the reasons why it seems
interesting to join one. People may want to join groups because they will not be bored, it can allow
someone to accomplish many things and feel good, and they can gain friends.
By joining a group, people can reduce the chances of being bored. It allows them to engage in
activities they like or even have new experiences. Wasik talks about how he started the Mob
Project because I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Joining a group can also provide people with feelings of accomplishments. In an online article by
Lee Rainie, Kristen Purcell, and Aaron Smith, they state how people consider joining a group
weather the individual thinks the group can accomplish its goals (63% say that this is very
important in their decision) (Joining, participating in and leaving groups). People tend to enjoy
being a part of a successful project and it makes them feel good when a goal is achieved.
They also may join to show off accomplishments they may have made and to feel they feel they
have a purpose in doing something to benefit others. Wasik talks about how 200 people came
together to do a flash mob at a hotel and After five minutes of staring, the ring erupted

Woodward Dream Cruise Argumentative Essay
Detroit may not seem like the ideal summer vacation destination for some, but for a growing
assemblage of car aficionados, the third Saturday of August means visiting the Motor City region
to take in the acclaimed Woodward Dream Cruise. Named for the iconic street splitting east and
west Detroit and connecting to its suburban neighbors, Woodward Avenue attracts tens of
thousands of custom and collector cars, including street rods and muscle cars. From 9 a.m. to 9
p.m., the suburban portion of the thoroughfare (Ferndale to Pontiac) is transformed into a parade
route, allowing participants to showcase their vintage rides. Originally started in 1995 as a

Supply Chain Task 2
Supply Chain
Task 2
A.
1. As I began my journey as a new business owner of a computer company I needed to define my
company s goals, decide which direction I wanted to take the company to and create a mission
statement that will best represent my company. Since the company was new I needed to come up
with something catchy and promising that would invite potential clients to find out more about the
products we offer. Since there were more participants in this game and from my professional
experience I learned that staying on the same path and making advancements is more beneficial
than trying to change directions every time. In this case I remained focused on the same two groups

My last choice was South America even though the expenses were not as high but it is less
demanding since the poverty is significantly high. As expected, choosing my locations in this order
was a success.
4.Marketing research could definitely be improved since I was not as successful as I was hoping to
be. Most of my business was coming from direct sales and not as much from other advertising. I
did not want to invest large amounts of money on the popular magazines since the fee was very
high and I was concentrating on more common papers such as Science Magazines and business
papers. Maybe I should have been more adventurous and invest in more popular magazines but I
was afraid that I would suffer financially. Also I was not able to come up with a very catchy
advertising line to attract potential clients and was scoring somewhat low on the advertising review.
B.One of the most important decisions I made was to invest in international markets. Since
Mercedes is from Germany and its factories are in the US I felt as investing in a European market
would be a good idea simply because I come from Europe and I know that Mercedes is in
demand as well as there are a lot of companies in need of a highly developed machine that can
make their discoveries and creations a lot easier. I was a little hesitant about opening offices in
Tokyo since their technology is very advanced and cost is very high. But because of that I decided

The Jfk Airport Is The Best And Worst Experience Of My Life
I grew up in a little, one red light town, where we have one festival a year that celebrates
blueberries, where playing in the mud is not an unusual thing, and where being barefoot is
almost normal. I live in the country. The country is my home. So, to think that I would ever end
up on a three week stay in a place where the horns never stop honking, the sirens never ceased to
exist, and the people are within arms distance all around you, would be crazy. I mean going to the
Big Apple , it is an insane idea. The only thing around here that s big is our barns. I believe that
going to New York Citywas the best and worst experience of my life. The plane ride was an
experience that I definitely enjoyed. It was my first time on a plane and, it just makes sense
because you get to a place in half the time and, it s also fun. The JFK airport is a whole
experience in itself. The airport is a mall, a restaurant, a spa, a liquor store, and many other
things all in one. Stepping out into the streets of New York is like stepping into altered universe.
The horns are screamed in your ear, the people are shuffling across the street before the orange
hand comes up to tell them to stop walking (I felt more like a pack mule crossing the street with
all the luggage I was carrying), and every one was frantically searching for the taxi they just
called. When you are riding in the taxi you can try to look out the windows to see the tops of the
buildings, but your eyes will never reach the top of

Ivory Poaching Research Paper
Ivory Poaching: Are Elephants Becoming Extinct? Poaching for the ivory tusks from elephants has
become a more prominent idea within the past twenty years. Elephants are killed for their tusks
made of ivory. These are typically used for jewelry, ornamental carvings, and art objects. (Perlez,
1989, n.p.). The elephantpopulation has slowly dwindled down throughout the years because of the
poaching for ivoryand it has caused elephants in some countries to become extinct.
The poaching of elephants for their tusks has driven the animal in some countries such as Sierra
Leone and Senegal to the point of extinction. More than 30,000 elephants were slaughtered in
Africa last year alone, 382 of them in Kenya. (Stewart, 2013n n.p.).

Poachers have the biggest risk involved in this, due to them actually having to kill the elephant.
They can earn $50 $100 per kilogram. The higher up the chain that the ivory moves, the more the
price raises and the poacher will make more money. By the time that the ivory reaches its highest
level, it can earn up to $3,000 per kilogram. (Stewart, 2013, n.p.). The risks of killing elephants
for their ivory tusks might be a risky job, but many poachers believe that it is worth the effort.
One poacher was interviewed and he revealed that his motivation behind poaching elephants was
because he was jobless. He said I was jobless. Our family had nothing. A friend lured me into it.
He said if we killed an elephant, we could sell its tusks. I did that and got money. So I decided that
would be my full time job. (Mutiga, 2014, n.p.). Although the benefits of poaching an elephant for
their ivory tusks might seem high, they are not. These poachers are endangering the elephant
population and could eventually cause them to become completely

Film Analysis Of The Birds
Alfred Hitchcock s 1963 thriller, The Birds, is known as an apocalyptic masterpiece. Advertising
campaigns screamed, The Birds is Coming to entice the people into watching the movie. The
reason for birds all of species flocking together to kill and to cause chaos still goes unknown today.
Tippi Hedren and Rod Taylor star in this disastrous horror filmthat throws the viewer for a loop at
the end of all the slaughtering and disorder in a small ordinary town in California. Through
choosing a specific setting and dynamic characterization, Alfred Hitchcockshows that nature cannot
be controlled and can lead to your own demise.
This movie is centered in Bodega Bay; however, it begins in San Francisco at a bird shop on a

would know the little Brenner girl s name. Melanie order a boat so that Mitch will not see her
come up to the house and goes to Ms. Hayworth s house first. Annie reveals that the little girl s
name is Cathy and that everyone meets Mitch in San Francisco. Melanie goes down to the dock
to board her boat. She turns off the engine as she gets close to the Brenner house and sneaks in
while Mitch is outside. The lovebird and a note to Cathy is left in the living room. The camera
shows Melanie crouched down in the boat as Mitch goes into the house. He is then shown running
back outside looking through binoculars searching for the person who left the gift. Mitch sees
Melanie, begins waving, and jumps into his truck to meet her back at the dock. Melanie is almost
at the dock when a gull deliberately swoops down and pecks her on the head. This first attacks sets
off a chain reaction that progresses and worsens through the rest of the movie.
The setting, Bodega Bay, California, is a small city north of San Francisco, where mostly
everyone knows each other. In 1963, the town was somewhat remote which made for a perfect
reason to use. Hitchcock knew that it would take a while for the word to spread that birds were
attacking the residents adding to the horror. Being that the town is a beach town, it gave an open
sky view and flat land for the

Essay about Coyote And Don Maclean
Allegory of American Pie by Don McLean
A Piece of the quot;Pie quot;
Ask anyone what was the defining moment in the rock history of the 1960s was and all you will
get is a one word answer: Woodstock. The three day rock festival that defined an era was only one
of many music festivals of the
60s. But Woodstock has come to symbolize, quot;an era of peaceful, free loving, drug taking hippie
youth, carefree before harsher realities hit... quot;
(Layman 40). The Woodstock festival ended a century filled with many metamorphoses of rock n
roll, from the era of pop music to the rebirth of folk music to the invention of acid rock. But some
cynics say that rock n roll died with the death of Buddy Holly before the 60s even began.

Holly was on tour with a collection of performers, and he wanted to fly to the next stop instead of
taking the bus.
He chartered a plane and a pilot to fly him and two others to Fargo, North
Dakota (Verse 1). Originally it was to be Holly, Waylon Jennings, and
Tommy Allsup. But J.P. Richardson ( quot; The Big Bopper quot;) talked Jennings into giving him
his seat and Allsup lost his seat to Richie Valens ( quot;La
Bamba quot;) on a coin toss (Jordan). The pilot, Roger Peterson, was a visual pilot, and not
certified to fly an instrument plane flight. But on the night of
February 3, 1959 the plane when up during a flurry. The pilot lost control and while he believed he
was steering up, the plane went straight down.
When the plane crashed all four men died instantly (Jordan). The day that the plane crash henceforth
became known as quot; The day the music died quot;.
The chorus in American Pie is the main theme of the song. American Pie is the pure American art
of rock and roll. The Chevy is the icon of America.
The levee is the source of music and since the decline of original rock and roll, there is no water
(or talent) in the levee: it s dry. quot; This ll be the day that
I die, quot; was taken from a Buddy Holly song entitled quot; That ll be the Day quot; and a line in
the chorus read, quot; That ll be the day that I die, quot; (Kulawiec).

Pinochet Gender
Under the reign of Augusto Pinochet, Chile suffered extreme oppression culturally, socially,
politically, economically, and religiously. As a dictator in a military government, Pinochet shut
down the Chilean government, stifled political discourse, banned trade unions, and made Chile his
own. Over 3,000 political opponents disappeared during his rule, and the Chilean over arrested over
30,000, torturing thousands. In response to the suffocating reign of Pinochet, Chilean citizens
began to express their culture and their identities through performance art and other means. Among
these identities being explored and expressed were those of gender: male, female, and other. Gender
and gender identity played significant roles during the reign of Pinochet through both theory and
social change. Under an oppressive government, it is often women and minorities, including
homosexuals, that suffer most. Thus, it is most likely that those who are suffering will speak out.

In A Critique of Morgenthau s Principles of Political Realism, Ann J. Tickner argues that women
are gaining a larger role in the international realm and thus the influence of feminine factors changes
the way politics is conducted. According to the feminist perspective, women believe in dynamic
objectivity, contextual national interests, collective empowerment, moral significance in politics,
common moral elements in de escalating conflict, and that politics is not autonomous. In this
sense, women tend to be a part of social change, cooperation, and peace. Thus, women play a role
in national and international politics and life by promoting coexistence, cooperation, and peace.
This theory goes in direct opposition to the male associated concepts of power and objectivity, both
of which can be connected to the reign of Pinochet over Chile. Therefore, women by nature were in

Nikolai Bukharin Was A Man Deeply Devoted To The Soviet
Nikolai Bukharin was a man deeply devoted to the Soviet cause and the spread and success of
Communism. He entered the political scene at the age young of 16, still a student himself, and
was once described by Lenin as being the golden boy of the revolution (Gregory 2010).
Unfortunately, Bukharin could not know that his political goals and desires would be his downfall
and the cause of his execution on March 14th 1938, betrayed by a man he once considered a
friend, Joseph Stalin. Reduced to just one of the 328,618 victims during 1938 as part of Stalin s

Ultimately though this would contribute to Stalin s persecution of him. As in 1928 Stalin flipped
on his opinion of the NEP, instead pushing his own Five Year Plan. Which forcefully created the
kolkhoz collective farms, in hopes of rapid industrialization that would bring Russia to the same
levels as other developed, Capitalist nations, regardless of the cost of human lives. This plan was
highly successful in eliminating the wealthy peasants known as the kulaks, thus further cementing
Stalin s control over the Soviet state (Gregory 2010).
After Lenin s death in 1924, Bukharin allied himself with Stalin with his Socialism in One Country,
which moved away from the idea of Global Communism that Bukharin and the rest of the
communist party had previously supported and endorsed, as they believed communism needed to
be done in a more developed nation. Instead it proposed that socialism could be created even in
an undeveloped country, and that Russia could and ultimately should focus on building socialism
within itself. This idea would become a key of Stalin s political beliefs and actions. By helping to
support and promote this idea Bukharin aided Stalin in removing other key Bolsheviks from
power, such as Trotsky, once again increasing Stalin s power.
Bukharin, while regarded as a strong theorist for Marxism, and generally a likable man, also had a
reputation for being soft. Moreover and increasingly dangerous a man who known to speak without

Greensboro Sit Ins And The Civil Rights Movement
Do you feel that there is equality in North Carolina? If you say yes, this is partially due to the
Greensboro Sit Ins and the Civil Rights Movement. Many in North Carolina were impacted by the
audacity of what started as some students and the black community members who protested for
equality of races even right here in North Carolina, where we call home. Despite advances in the
fight for racial equality (including the landmark 1954 Supreme Court verdict in Brown v. Board of
Education and the Montgomery Bus Boycott), segregation was still the norm across the southern
United Statesin 1960. Depending on whose perspective is looked at, some may still feel
segregation is the norm in some cases. These racial segregations have been an issue longer than
one can imagine, but from these certain events, life has improved and has become a lot easier for
everyone in that case. We no longer have to worry about where we sit or who we can or cannot

Winston Smith From Spongebob Squarepants
Intro Essay I am sure that everyone, at least once, has compared themselves to a character from
their favorite literary work or movie. Oftentimes parallels can be, and are drawn between the
audience members and the characters on the page or screen. Other times people contrast themselves
to characters, pointing out the stark differences between their real world lives and the high
adventure thrills of the life of the characterin question. In this essay,I will compare myself to the
personalities of Winston Smith from 1984, putting focus on our shared inquisitive and skeptical
nature, as well as that of Spongebob Squarepants, with his cheerful disposition and sense of
childlike wonder. And finally, I will be comparing myself with Russell, the kid from UP.

The Human Brain And Brain Disorders
the human brain can be burdened with various diseases and disorders. Since the brain acts as the
bodies control system, any malfunctions can result in serious problems to the entire system,
including memory, sensation, and even personality; factors such as illness, genetics, and trauma are
a few of the main things that cause Braindisorders. (Brain Disorders) Degenerative diseases,
psychiatric diseases, brain tumors, brain injuries, and addiction are some major illnesses that
come into play. Degenerative diseases are passed down through generations; an enormous forty
five million people are affected by these conditions, all across the world. Alzheimer s, ALS,

schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder are classifies as non other than psychiatric disorders; luckily,
these disorders can be treated with therapy. There is a variety of auspicious options that can be
chosen from accordingly for the patient. Additionally, many individuals suffer from addiction;
while everyone is at risk of addiction in some way shape or form, a few are at higher risk than
others. When a person is suffering from this dreadful condition, they do not think rationally, and
tend to act upon impulses; the craving is at such an intensity in some cases, that the individual is
willing to put everything at risk, and disregard whatever the consequences may be. Biologically,
the chemical makeup and structure of the brain itself undergoes alterations under the
circumstances that the individual repeats his or her use of drugs. By exciting the nerves within
the reward center of the brain, the recipient experiences a feeling of thrill themselves. (Brain

The Birth Of A Child Is A Miracle
People say that the birth of a child is a miracle. When parents find out they are expecting a child it
is arguably one of the most exciting events in a person s life. Parents spend the pregnancy deciding
on names, decorating the room, and all of the other things that involve preparing to bring a child
into the world. Most parents wish that their baby is born happy and healthy. What happens when
the doctor informs you that your precious child has a disability? Having a child with a disability
completely changes the dynamics of the family and the way in which they raise their child along
with any other children they may have. Parents, siblings, and the child with the disability must all
learn how to cope and adapt with the challenges and rewards that come with having a disability.
While their child may not have been born perfectly healthy, there are ways in which the family can
raise a child and live a happy, fulfilling life.
There are many different childhood disabilities that range from physical disabilities to mental health
disabilities. The most common disabilities recognized in childhood are autism, ADHD, cerebral
palsy, down syndrome, epilepsy, spina bifida, dyslexia, and depression (Scribner, 2014). Most of
these disabilities recognized in childhood are lifelong disabilities that have a huge impact on the
child s learning and development. Between 2001 and 2011, the prevalence of childhood disability

The Violence Of Domestic Violence
Cycle of Violence in Domestic Violence
As stated by the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security, domestic violence is defined as a
pattern of coercive and controlling behaviors and tactics used by one person over another (by or to
any household member) to gain power and control. This may include verbal abuse, financial abuse,
emotional, sexual, and physical abuse. (The Official Website of the Executive Office of Public
Safety and Security.)
Domestic abuse frequently becomes more often and dangerous over time.
After researching
Lenore E. Walker, Executive Director of the Domestic ViolenceInstitute, studied, researched and
interviewed hundreds of women victims of domestic violence and came to the conclusion that
many violent relationships follow a similar pattern. In 1979, Walker developed a social cycle
theory cycle that explains the behaviors involved in a domestic abuse. This cycle developed by
her, could take days months or years to develop, it is different for each relationship and not all
follow the pattern, and not all necessarily lead to physical abuse.
The Cycle of abuse developed by L. E. Walker includes the following 3 phases:
Tension building Tension builds over common domestic, daily problems. Verbal abuse begins. The
abused person tries to help the situation by pleasing the abuser, giving in or avoiding the situation,
what do not stop the violence. The tension continues, reaches a boiling point and the abuse begins.

the Golden State Warriors takes commanding 1.20 odds of winning at Bet365. William Hill is

makes the Warriors a juggernaut this season. It is going to be an uphill battle for the Spurs with
Tim Duncan out of the team this season. Filling Duncan s shoes is Gasol this year. On the other

Tennessee State Planning Commission
George Isaac Whitlatch did extensive work to find resources in TN. He published a few books
regardiing the economic values of and where natural resources exist in TN. One of his first
works was THE CLAYS OF WEST TN, and the importance of such minerals. In the 1820 s in
America clays were used by pioneers to build homes, as well good for domestic wares and
bricks. In the 1874 book Killebrew and Safford Potteries (1874), it s mentioned that many rich
beds of potters clay of the finest quality exist in Henry Co., Tennessee. The father of the clay
mining industry in west tn was Isadore Mandle, responsible for ball clay mining in Henry County,
where 125 train cars per month were exported in 1897.
Prior to WWI, the bulk of the clays came from Europe. In the late 1930 s this started to change,
and west TN and western KY mines accounted for more than 80 percent of the ball clay used in the
United States.
Whitlatch conducted a state wide survey of the clay resources in TN, starting Fall of 1932 to the

Two Main Coronaries
1.The two main coronary arteries that supply blood to the hart are the left main coronary artery and
the right coronary artery.
The left main coronary artery provides blood to the left part of the heart (e.g. left atrium and left
ventricle). In particular, the left main coronary branches off into the circumflex artery and the left
anterior descending artery. If there is occlusion in the circumflex coronary, then there is infarction
in the left atrium and the side and back of the left ventricle. In addition, if there is blockage in the
left anterior descending artery, then there is infarction in the front and bottom of the left ventricle,
and the bottom of the sepum.
The right coronary artery supplies blood into the right area of the heart

Hell In The Gospel Of John, And St. Thomas Aquinas
Hell is recognized as an extremely difficult doctrine for many to accept, due to its nature of
opposing the very notion of a benevolent God. Although God grants the gift of mercy and
infinite love to all, a soul can be damned to Hell due to the gift of free will and the rejection of God
s love. In the teachings and works of the Bible, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and St.
Thomas Aquinas, the interpretation of Heaven and its counterpart Hell are found in their attempt to
explain the contradictory essence of Gods altruistic love and the potential of eternal punishment. It
has been clearly denoted that the Gift of God s free will is the primary reason for one condemning
themselves to Hell or entering the Kingdom of God in Heaven. God s... Show more content on

In chapters five and seven of the Book of Matthew, it reveals that some may not be granted
entrance to the Kingdom of Heaven after facing judgment. An analogy is made that the good
tree of heaven cannot possibly bear bad fruit just like a bad tree cannot bear that of good fruit.
Every tree that does not bear good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire. So by their
fruits you will know them (Matthew 7: 19 20) indicating the tradition view of Hell being a dark,
fiery, pit of depraved spirits. In the Gospel of Mark, Hell is referred to as Gehenna which is a
term associated in Hebrew scripture that dictates it a place of the wicked. Hell is a place where
God s judgment has inscribed the sin filled life upon one s spirit. In the Gospel of Luke, Hell is
referred to as a place where sinners are perished . In the parable of the rich man and lazarus, the
rich man whom deemed to hell requests to warn his brothers of the afterlife, Then Abraham said,
If they will not listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded if someone
should rise from the dead (Luke 16: 31). This draws a similar comparison to the rejection of
Jesus s resurrection in the greatest sacrifice to repent for all humankind s sins. God grants the gift

The Story of My Search A person s name is the one thing that cannot be taken away from him or
her. It is the only thing that stays with us from the day we are born until the day we take our last

or change it in any way. My parents named me this before they knew me, but my namesparallel a lot
with my character. Before my teacher assigned this project, I knew little about my name. I knew
that my parents named me Annabelle after my great grandmother. I thought that Pierce was Irish
because I knew we were of Irish descent on my father s side of the family, but I had no insight
into my first name, Emily, except that my parents liked the name. On October 1, 2015, I was
assigned to research my name and write a report. I started by going to the library and I read over
many name books that were there; however, I found Annabelle and Pierce were hard to find
information on from the books. I then turned to the internet to find more information. Over the next
two weeks, I searched different websites to learn various facts about my name. After doing this, I
wanted to know personal facts about my name, so I conducted an interview with my parents, Gene

Unrealistic Expectations Of Young Adolescents
When comparing this television show to other young adolescent programs this one is the most
realistic, in my opinion. But of course to keep the show entertaining for the audience they mix in
unrealistic expectations or situations they may face in real life. One example is Riley having her
own emergency credit card. The girls were wanting to sell their clothes but got conned into
buying other clothes instead. Riley simply pulled out her credit card to pay for the clothes .If a
young adolescent was watching this show they would start asking her parents for a credit card.

to be independent (Brown Knowles. pg 4). When in reality this is not a

An Analysis Of Rick Moody s Boys
Each story makes use of a very unique tone and form of narration yet these same qualities can be
compared to some extent across these essays. The authors utilize different forms of writing to
convey their intended focus to the audience. I found each story relative to one another in that they
all seemed to touch of the subject of the roles of different genders in our contemporary society
maybe even across different cultures.
Rick Moody s short story Boys is written with a distinct style. The author uses a form of a stream
of consciousness to convey the purpose at hand, which encompasses writing as if without
hesitation or editing whatever came to Moody s thoughts, he transferred to text. There was also
a substantial use of the word boys , placing emphasis on the central meaning of the story. The
style is thoroughly descriptive and fails to leave any details of the boys lives out. This quality
donates a sense of reality and creates a bond between the reader and the characters. The tone of
the story comes of as particularly unbiased and serious, as if the author were just stating purely
factual information. As events become more somber in the boys lives, the author approaches a
more sympathetic tone. The boys were supposed to be kids, fooling around playing games and
living a care free childhood, but these boys found themselves in scenarios no boy or child should
ever encompass.

Asymmetric Threats Essay
Currently there are several definitions of asymmetric threats listed throughout the internet as well
as other literature. The definition that best sums up the meaning in my view is leveraging
unconventional tactics against a superior opponent with the goal of disrupting the willingness to
achieve the operational objectives. The most common and current example of this would be the
insurgency tactics used in Iraq and Afghanistan. The United States must not assume those tactics
and strategies will only be used abroad. The same asymmetric threats our country s security
initiative is facing are the same challenges are seaports are facing. Some examples of the potential
asymmetric threats the United States seaport faces are nuclear weapons,... Show more content on

The impact of a chemical environment would also lessen the dominance of a United States military
operation. The United States military is commonly known to operate both deployment and re
deployment operations at specific ports of embarkation and debarkation; making targeting for a
chemical attack fairly simple.
Like chemical weapons, biological weapons are easy to obtain, but the area covered by such an
attack is fairly small and limited. The most effective area to use a chemical weapon on a seaport
would be the operation center of that port due to the limited damage it will cause to the
infrastructure. The psychological effect of VX or Sarin would devastate any port operation and to
trace the origin of the agents would prove to be very difficult.
The most common vulnerabilities to seaports exist due to the geographical location and the amount
of activity surrounding most seaports. Highways, railways, and joining waterways create many
security issues and make larger seaports terrorist strategic targets. The sheer size of the sea requires
numerous resources and assets from agencies such as the United States Coast Guard. The task of
monitoring and securing seaports is an international challenge because the United States trade
goods with various countries. Security standards vary from country to country causing any

Serotonin Syndrome is the resulting symptom of excess serotonin in the central nervous system or

Once a patient is at critical condition a state of sedation or neuromuscular paralysis is used to
control agitation as well as restoring the changes in blood pressure, heart rate and body temperature.
Symptithomimetic drugs such as norepinephrine and phenylephrine are used to treat patients who
experience autonomic instability (Gillman 2010). Furthermore, the use of short acting nitroprusside
or esmolol can be used to combat tachycardia and hypertension.
It is important to take the cause of serotonin toxicity into consideration when determining the
appropriate treatment. The enzyme monoamine oxidase is able to catabolize serotonin when in the
presence of oxygen, thus oxygenation will aid in transporting the excess serotonin if the rise in
body temperature or metabolic acidosis is prevented (Gillman 2010). Oxygen, however, will not
assist in the dispatch of serotonin if monoamine oxidase inhibitors are the cause of serotonin
syndrome (Frank 2008). Hydration is therefore key to provide oxygen in this situation until the

The Impact of Melting Ice Caps
The Impact of Melting Ice Caps
There is a large amount research demonstrating the impact of global warming on our planet. As
the overall temperature of the Earth increases, ice and snow masses are melting. As more ice and
snow is lost, the ocean s sea levels are rising. Additionally with less ice and snow, less sun light is
reflected into space and instead it is absorbed by the planet. The continual absorption of the heat in
sunlight gradually warms the planet along with other factors. Therefore, the loss of ice caps,
glaciers, and snow is furthering the increase in the temperature of the planet.
The polar ice caps play an enormous role in regulating the Earth s temperature. According to
Montgomery (2008), polar ice reflects close to 90 percent of rays from the sun back into space.
However, our dark oceans only bounce back around 10 percent of solar radiation (Calvin, 2008).
One of the most important properties of that both ice and snow share is a very high albedo.
Albedo is the amount of solar radiation reflected from an object or a surface (Cousineau, 2011).
As glaciers and ice caps melt due to a process called thermal expansion, the tendency of matter to
change in volume as a response to a change in temperature (Archer, 2007), our ocean s sea levels
are rising at an extremely fast rate. Worldwide our sea levels have risen 4 8 inches throughout the
20th century (Wunderground, 2013). With the loss of ice caps and the gain of more water in our
oceans less and

Growing Number Of Studies ( ЕёГ ) Essay
Growing number of studies (e.g. (Kowsari and Zerriffi, 2011; O. R. Masera et al., 2000))
investigate the impacts of various factors such as household income, and education status that
would influence household cooking fuel choice and then inform the policies to promote fuel
switching to the modern sources. Mainly, two broad conceptual models are popular in the area of
householdenergy choice and fuel transition in developing countries: Energy Ladder and Energy
Stacking Models (Elias and Victor, 2005; Hosier and Dowd, 1987; Leach, 1992; Leach and
Mearns, 1988; O. Masera et al., 2000). These models categorize energy resources into modern,
transitional and traditional fuels given that different cooking fuels are available in the region.
Modern fuels such as LPG or electricity are interpreted as superior because the inherent qualities of
these fuels are relatively superior in terms of fuel efficiency and sustainability when compared to
the traditional fuels. Transitional fuels are consumed during the transitional period; a period where
traditional fuels are in the process of being replaced by the modern fuels.
The factors influencing households fuel switching decisions in the energy ladder model are the
household income, relative fuel prices, and fuel accessibility. However, the energy ladder model
of perfect substitutability among the cooking fuels with respect to the income fails to be supported
by most empirical evidence (Heltberg, 2005; Hosier and Dowd, 1987; Lee et al.,

example, if you see a child hammering on objects this means that the child is involved in the

Following the Child
The child will show you what they need to do, what to develop in themselves and what are the
areas they need to be challenged in. The aim of the children who persevere in their work with an
object is certainly not to learn ; they are drawn to it by the needs of their inner life, which must be

will help them in the future. Also it is best not to tell the child what to do all the time, the child
needs to familiarise themselves within their environment. One thing ever child needs is freedom

Altruism
True altruism does not exist . Discuss with reference to psychological theory and research.
Many have defined altruism in a similar context, a special form of helping behaviour that is an act
that is motivated by the desire to benefit another individual rather than oneself (Hogg Vaughan,
2008). An altruistic act does not necessarily have a negative or zero value to the actor (Margolis,
1982) but a true altruistic act is detrimental to the actor s fitness and enhances another individual s
fitness, in other words, a selfless act (Batson, 1991). Throughout the evolution of altruism, there
have been many controversies about the existence of true altruism. Most theories have argued that
it stems from ulterior motives, but does that prove ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another motive of altruism to gain indirect returns is the egoistic motives. It is suggested by
Mandeville (1732), where a person who is in a situation that causes personal distress would behave
altruistically to relieve that particular distress.
Although theories that suggest the non existence of true altruism may be persuasive, it does not
explain the reasons for selfless deeds done by famous figures for their love and services to people
such as Mother Teresa. Batson (1991) suggested a hypothesis and feels that some people are
genuinely concerned about other people s welfare. According to his empathy altruism hypothesis,
empathic concerns produce altruism motivation and relieving their sufferings is the main priority.
This hypothesis is supported by several experiments where participants are typically given an

exist. More research has to be done in this field to explain about other cases to prove its existence.

6)Identifying new opportunities, ventures and initiatives for the brand
Brands are not single products they are cerebral constructions and can assume different forms over
time. With the marriage of Victoria David Beckham was more familiarized as a celebrity and a
fashion icon. And Beckham launched his fragrances line in the United States in 2005.
7)Protection of intellectual property.
A brand is a specific piece of legal tittle. It should be properly protected by law so that no one can
infringe it. Beckham has not taken protection lightly. It is reflected not only in the number of
different brand names he possesses, but also in the number of categories or classes he has
registered. (Milligan 2009) David Beckham Net Worth Richest Celebrities 2016. 2016. David

Deep Ecology And Religion Essay
Through this portion of class readings and discussions, we have sought deeper meaning and
understanding of philosophies of individuals and organizations that revolve around the fundamental
aspects and notions of deep ecology and eco activism. These associations offer more views and
attitudes on how an individual and society can create and maintain a kinshipand positive influence
with the natural environment.
Like deep ecologist s view on the metaphysical relationship of man and nature. Eco activist s
contend to a belief of ecology as religion (Kinsley 193). They take their duty with the environment

This objective is to start with a small or local community to implement the redefinition of nature s

This will allow the opinions and assumptions towards the planetary consciousness to slowly

locally is bio regionalism movement which aims to rebuild our cosmology locally and putting a
greater emphasis on an individual s place in the natural world particularly the resources that

This idea of finding your place is an exceptional solution for an individual to get back in touch with

people that encircle them. Chad Myer, who spoke to our class about Bioregionalism claims that
economic globalization, has led us to displacement with people, environment, and ourselves. This
globalization stemmed from the colonization of America. As the Europeans migrated the sense of

In order to reverse this individualism Bio regionalism and Green Peace and other deep ecology

Occupational Therapy and Clinical Reasoning
Clinical Reasoning Clinical Reasoning is an essential part of the assessment, treatment and
evaluation process in occupational therapy (Neistadt, 1996). This reasoning is the skill set that
the occupational therapist draws from when working with clients in related to function and
performance. Neistadt (1996) suggested that clinical reasoning is the combination of five
interacting components (Ward, 2003). This will be explained in the following essay and
applied to a case study about a girl named Maria. Narrative Reasoning The first form of reasoning
to be used will be the narrative reasoning. This will address Maria s occupational story. It
considers temporal aspects such as the client s history and identifies what needs to change to
accommodate occupational engagement in the future (Neistadt, 1996). Maria is fifteen years old.
Her mother reports that Maria has been performing poorly in school and has withdrawn from her
family. This began after her transition to secondary school. Her performance further deteriorated
when she began second year. Maria stopped participating in a number of her occupations including
hockey, playing the piano, the girl guides, shopping with friends and going to the cinema. She now
prefers to stay on the computer of listening to music. Maria previously had a good relationship
with her younger siblings. However, she has disengaged from these relationships. She has also been
distant from her friends Caoimhe and Meabh, preferring to spend time in her

The Dark Story of Babi Yar
Babi Yar
Babi Yar is a small place with a big story, but it has more to it than what meets the eye. In fall
1941 Germany took control of the city of Kiev, where Babi Yar is located. Hitler had ordered his
Nazis to purify Russia of all Jews. The first day they that they took control of the city they began
to exterminate it of all Jews that were living there. Everyone in the city of Kiev, including Jews
and Non Jews lived in fear. The massacre of the Jews that lived in Kiev began on September 29,
1941. On the outside it is a small ravine outside the city of Kiev, but if you dig deeper you will
discover that this forgotten place is the site of the biggest and saddest event in the history of
World War II. (World Book Encyclopedia 3). According to Shelia Stewart, Hitler s original plan was
to capture all the Jews and send them to Madagascar. The plan was soon dropped because Germany
couldn t defeat the British Navy. Hitler then created a new plan. The Nazis would force some of
the Jews who were able to do manual labor, such as young men, to work. The Jews that couldn t
work, for example older people, would be killed. After the Jews that were able to do work can t
work anymore, they would also be killed. (28 29). When Hitler s troops invaded Kiev they posted
notices in the city that stated, Kikes of the city of Kiev and vicinity! On Monday, September 29,

Humans and animals have been exposed to one or all forms of mercury, but the toxic effects can

Reflection Of The Imagined Community
This paper is a book report of Benedict Anderson s famous book Imagined community: Reflection
on the Origin and spread of Nationalism. It was published by Verso in 1983 and had revisions in
1991 and 2006 with some additional chapters and it became one of the most read books on
nationalism. Anderson explains that the concept of nationalism is a very new but a powerful
concept, which has been neglected by many important thinkers. Nationalism according to him is
connecting bound among the people of a nation, which creates an imagined community. People do
not know each other personally but they share a nation, which makes them tied to each other. When
it comes to the reason of why it is emerging in the modern times, he explains that the main
underlying reason behind the growth of the imagined communities is the rise of the movements
against the monarchs and the development of the capitalism, which mainly started in Europe with
the industrial revolution. I will expand... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Kana Satake walked leisurely with a bag of groceries in one hand and her other hand resting on
top of a large baby bump. She was almost due for conception, in two weeks in fact. She rubbed
her belly absentmindedly as she thought about the possibilities. Would it be a boy or a girl?
Raiden wanted it to be a boy but Kana wouldn t mind if it was a girl. She already had a son named
Renma. Whatever genderit was she supposed, she would lovethem all the same. Her mind wandered
to other thoughts as she continued to walk home not even noticing the oppressive heaviness in the
air and the now deserted streets. A low growl resounded through the air and pulled Kana from her
thoughts. Now sensing the danger that was looming nearby, she looked around warily.... Show more

Carol Ann Duffy Poems Analysis
Originally Introduction Memories play a significant role in the poetry of Carol Ann Duffy,
particularly her recollections of childhood places and events. The poem Originally, published in
The Other Country (1990), draws specifically from memories of Duffy s family s move from
Scotland to England when she and her siblings were very young. The first born child, Duffy was
just old enough to feel a deep sense of personal loss and fear as she traveled farther and farther
away from the only place she had known as home and the family neared its alien destination. This
sentiment is captured in Originally, in which it is described in the rich detail and defining language
of both the child who has had the experience and the adult who recalls... Show more content on

The hate name of the racists is sprayed on a brick wall the harshness and unyielding nature of
which is symbolic of the mentality of those who do such things. The unfamiliar, snowy weather
and artificial neon lights create the impression for the immigrant that the country moved to is
coming to bits . This image of fragmentation is, though, not entirely imaginary as he or she has a
life splintered from all that is familiar and constantly experiences a sense of alienation. The
italicised words at the close of the poem give voice to the immigrant but this only gives away a
difficulty with English. The unfinished verbs, Me not know and It like they only... are drawn
attention to by Duffy in order that the reader may ponder what it would be like to face the same
language problem. The final words of the poem, Imagine that remind us of the opening and there
is quite a clear impression that Duffy is adopting an undisguised didactic stance. As a skilled and
empowered user of the English language herself she is drawing attention to the lot of those who
are marginalised because of their deficiency in its use. Carol Ann Duffy s Stealing An Analysis and

Analysis Of The Book Maus
Adolf Hitler stated, The Jews are undoubtedly a race, but they are not human. (2) Adolf Hitler
was the man who started the Nazi Regime which became the biggest massacre in the world. The
massacre was known as the Holocaust in which millions of Jews were killed. Maus tells the story
of father who was a Polish Jew at the time of the Holocaust. Maus is also portrayed visually with
high angle shots, low angle shots, curved lines, shadows and rule of thirds. Art Spiegelman drew his
graphics in specific way, which was to grab the reader s attention more to the pictures rather than
the words because a photo can explain a thousand words. There are two underlining stories in
Maus. One story is telling how Vladeck survived Auschwitz and the other story is how Art,
Vladeck s son, gets his story from his father and the relationship between Art and Vladeck.
A graphic novel is a standalone pictorial narrative or a collective of single comic issues published
in a book format. Maus is a graphic novel where Art Spiegelman tell the story of his father s
experience in the Holocaust through pictures. Art Spiegelman does this through the use of
shadows, symmetry, low and high points and rule of thirds. A well balanced frame gives the
readers a sense of peace and security but throughout Maus there are many times where he does
not want us to feel peaceful or safe. The last frame on page 32 is a perfect example. The flag is the
vocal point. The Jews are very scared and worried. The flag is also

The Nature Of Human Behavior
By nature, we are all amateur psychologists, constantly trying to, through the informal study of
ourselves and others, make inferences and predictions about other s behaviour. This in turn has led
to the creation of many common sense notions, or cultural beliefs about the nature of human
behaviour that, while often espoused as factual and true, tend to hold up poorly when faced with
legitimate scientific scrutiny, with an example being the belief that individuals always work
harder in a group than on their own. Since, while it is undeniable that, by nature, we are social
rather than solitary animals and that working in groups has had many advantages to the evolution
of our species by allowing us to, for example, increase our safety in... Show more content on

Likewise, they tend to end up taking credit for the other s work, thus creating tension that
negatively affects the group as a whole (Tomson Pieterse, 2010, p. 2).
Moreover, outside of social loafing, group performance can also be negatively impacted by
groupthink. Concerning group performance as a whole, groupthink is defined in Psychology:
Evaluating connections, as a phenomenon that happens when the thinking of the group takes
over, so much so that group members forgo logic or critical analysis in the service of reaching a
decision (Fiest et al., 2016, p. 536 537). Likewise, it is discussed by Irving Janis (1971) in
Groupthink, an article published in Psychology Today magazine, who was the first to propose its
existence as a phenomena. Basing his theory on the thorough analysis of historical examples of
poor decision such as the Bay of Pigs invasion, Janis concluded that groupthink arises when the
members of decision making groups become motivated to avoid being too harsh in their
judgments of their leaders or their colleagues ideas and avoid being critical of either their own or
other s thinking (Janis, 1971, p. 84). This in turn leads to negative consequences for the group, such
as the failure to consider other, more viable

Greek Heroes In The Odyssey, And Oedipus Rex
The classics of Greek literature: The Iliad, The Odyssey, and Oedipus Rex by their respective
authors Homer and Sophocles have given us possible insight into how the Ancient Greeks Heroes
viewed themselves. Although the Heroes of Ancient Greeks often possessed god like powers and
skills, a closer look reveals that they seem to view themselves as weak children at the mercy of the
gods.
The Greek Heroes are portrayed as godlike in their stories such as the Iliad and the Odyssey they are
the main characters. These heroes were subjected to the toy like treatment from opposing gods.
Demonstrating her superiority, Athena uses her divine powers to trick Hector into fighting Achilles
Athena luring him (Hector) on with all her immortal cunning.... (186 187). Athena had to forcibly

the god simply adjusted the battle to favor her pawn Achilles.

However, they did not often always remember their place on the food chain. In addition to
forgetting, mortals often aggravated the gods by disrupting temples and prophets. So this would
lead to severe punishment from the angered god. The heroes simply acted like disobedient children
who had to be punished when they stepped out of line.
Manipulation of mortal lives is one thing that the gods loved to do. This can be seen clearly in
Oedipus Rex. The myth itself revolves around how his parents were presented with a prophecy
from Apollo. This prophecy stated that the child would kill his father and marry his mother Aye,
through fear of evil oracles.... They said he should kill his parents... (2.512.1267,1289). The pure
fear that Oedipus s parents felt must have been devastating. As their baby turned out to be a boy,
their fears were kindled into a fire that consumed

  • 4. Psychology Of Groups The thought of sitting in a room filled with people who have similar interests and enjoy each other s company seems a lot better than being alone, and not being included in the cluster of people. There are many reasons why people may want to join groups and Bill Wasik, who writes My Crowd Experiment: The Mob Experiment talks about some of the reasons why it seems interesting to join one. People may want to join groups because they will not be bored, it can allow someone to accomplish many things and feel good, and they can gain friends. By joining a group, people can reduce the chances of being bored. It allows them to engage in activities they like or even have new experiences. • 6. Supply Chain Task 2 Supply Chain Task 2 A. 1. As I began my journey as a new business owner of a computer company I needed to define my company s goals, decide which direction I wanted to take the company to and create a mission statement that will best represent my company. Since the company was new I needed to come up with something catchy and promising that would invite potential clients to find out more about the products we offer. Since there were more participants in this game and from my professional experience I learned that staying on the same path and making advancements is more beneficial than trying to change directions every time. In this case I remained focused on the same two groups for the remaining 3 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My last choice was South America even though the expenses were not as high but it is less demanding since the poverty is significantly high. As expected, choosing my locations in this order was a success. 4.Marketing research could definitely be improved since I was not as successful as I was hoping to be. Most of my business was coming from direct sales and not as much from other advertising. I did not want to invest large amounts of money on the popular magazines since the fee was very high and I was concentrating on more common papers such as Science Magazines and business papers. Maybe I should have been more adventurous and invest in more popular magazines but I was afraid that I would suffer financially. Also I was not able to come up with a very catchy advertising line to attract potential clients and was scoring somewhat low on the advertising review. B.One of the most important decisions I made was to invest in international markets. Since Mercedes is from Germany and its factories are in the US I felt as investing in a European market would be a good idea simply because I come from Europe and I know that Mercedes is in demand as well as there are a lot of companies in need of a highly developed machine that can make their discoveries and creations a lot easier. I was a little hesitant about opening offices in Tokyo since their technology is very advanced and cost is very high. But because of that I decided to stand with competition face ... • 7. The Jfk Airport Is The Best And Worst Experience Of My Life I grew up in a little, one red light town, where we have one festival a year that celebrates blueberries, where playing in the mud is not an unusual thing, and where being barefoot is almost normal. I live in the country. The country is my home. So, to think that I would ever end up on a three week stay in a place where the horns never stop honking, the sirens never ceased to exist, and the people are within arms distance all around you, would be crazy. I mean going to the Big Apple , it is an insane idea. The only thing around here that s big is our barns. I believe that going to New York Citywas the best and worst experience of my life. The plane ride was an experience that I definitely enjoyed. It was my first time on a plane and, it just makes sense because you get to a place in half the time and, it s also fun. The JFK airport is a whole experience in itself. The airport is a mall, a restaurant, a spa, a liquor store, and many other things all in one. Stepping out into the streets of New York is like stepping into altered universe. The horns are screamed in your ear, the people are shuffling across the street before the orange hand comes up to tell them to stop walking (I felt more like a pack mule crossing the street with all the luggage I was carrying), and every one was frantically searching for the taxi they just called. When you are riding in the taxi you can try to look out the windows to see the tops of the buildings, but your eyes will never reach the top of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Elephants are killed for their tusks made of ivory. These are typically used for jewelry, ornamental carvings, and art objects. (Perlez, 1989, n.p.). The elephantpopulation has slowly dwindled down throughout the years because of the poaching for ivoryand it has caused elephants in some countries to become extinct. The poaching of elephants for their tusks has driven the animal in some countries such as Sierra Leone and Senegal to the point of extinction. More than 30,000 elephants were slaughtered in Africa last year alone, 382 of them in Kenya. (Stewart, 2013n n.p.). Killing elephants ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Poachers have the biggest risk involved in this, due to them actually having to kill the elephant. They can earn $50 $100 per kilogram. The higher up the chain that the ivory moves, the more the price raises and the poacher will make more money. By the time that the ivory reaches its highest level, it can earn up to $3,000 per kilogram. (Stewart, 2013, n.p.). The risks of killing elephants for their ivory tusks might be a risky job, but many poachers believe that it is worth the effort. One poacher was interviewed and he revealed that his motivation behind poaching elephants was because he was jobless. He said I was jobless. Our family had nothing. A friend lured me into it. He said if we killed an elephant, we could sell its tusks. I did that and got money. So I decided that would be my full time job. (Mutiga, 2014, n.p.). She turns off the engine as she gets close to the Brenner house and sneaks in while Mitch is outside. The lovebird and a note to Cathy is left in the living room. The camera shows Melanie crouched down in the boat as Mitch goes into the house. He is then shown running back outside looking through binoculars searching for the person who left the gift. Mitch sees Melanie, begins waving, and jumps into his truck to meet her back at the dock. Melanie is almost at the dock when a gull deliberately swoops down and pecks her on the head. This first attacks sets off a chain reaction that progresses and worsens through the rest of the movie. The setting, Bodega Bay, California, is a small city north of San Francisco, where mostly everyone knows each other. In 1963, the town was somewhat remote which made for a perfect reason to use. Essay about Coyote And Don Maclean Allegory of American Pie by Don McLean A Piece of the quot;Pie quot; Ask anyone what was the defining moment in the rock history of the 1960s was and all you will get is a one word answer: Woodstock. The three day rock festival that defined an era was only one of many music festivals of the 60s. The Woodstock festival ended a century filled with many metamorphoses of rock n roll, from the era of pop music to the rebirth of folk music to the invention of acid rock. He chartered a plane and a pilot to fly him and two others to Fargo, North Dakota (Verse 1). Originally it was to be Holly, Waylon Jennings, and Tommy Allsup. But J.P. Richardson ( quot; The Big Bopper quot;) talked Jennings into giving him his seat and Allsup lost his seat to Richie Valens ( quot;La Bamba quot;) on a coin toss (Jordan). The pilot, Roger Peterson, was a visual pilot, and not certified to fly an instrument plane flight. But on the night of February 3, 1959 the plane when up during a flurry. The pilot lost control and while he believed he was steering up, the plane went straight down. When the plane crashed all four men died instantly (Jordan). • 11. Pinochet Gender Under the reign of Augusto Pinochet, Chile suffered extreme oppression culturally, socially, politically, economically, and religiously. As a dictator in a military government, Pinochet shut down the Chilean government, stifled political discourse, banned trade unions, and made Chile his own. Over 3,000 political opponents disappeared during his rule, and the Chilean over arrested over 30,000, torturing thousands. In response to the suffocating reign of Pinochet, Chilean citizens began to express their culture and their identities through performance art and other means. Among these identities being explored and expressed were those of gender: male, female, and other. Gender and gender identity played significant roles during the reign of Pinochet through both theory and social change. Under an oppressive government, it is often women and minorities, including homosexuals, that suffer most. Thus, it is most likely that those who are suffering will speak out. According to the feminist perspective, women believe in dynamic objectivity, contextual national interests, collective empowerment, moral significance in politics, common moral elements in de escalating conflict, and that politics is not autonomous. He entered the political scene at the age young of 16, still a student himself, and was once described by Lenin as being the golden boy of the revolution (Gregory 2010). Unfortunately, Bukharin could not know that his political goals and desires would be his downfall and the cause of his execution on March 14th 1938, betrayed by a man he once considered a friend, Joseph Stalin. This plan was highly successful in eliminating the wealthy peasants known as the kulaks, thus further cementing Stalin s control over the Soviet state (Gregory 2010). After Lenin s death in 1924, Bukharin allied himself with Stalin with his Socialism in One Country, which moved away from the idea of Global Communism that Bukharin and the rest of the communist party had previously supported and endorsed, as they believed communism needed to be done in a more developed nation. Instead it proposed that socialism could be created even in an undeveloped country, and that Russia could and ultimately should focus on building socialism within itself. This idea would become a key of Stalin s political beliefs and actions. By helping to support and promote this idea Bukharin aided Stalin in removing other key Bolsheviks from power, such as Trotsky, once again increasing Stalin s power. If you say yes, this is partially due to the Greensboro Sit Ins and the Civil Rights Movement. Many in North Carolina were impacted by the audacity of what started as some students and the black community members who protested for equality of races even right here in North Carolina, where we call home. Despite advances in the fight for racial equality (including the landmark 1954 Supreme Court verdict in Brown v. There was also a substantial use of the word boys , placing emphasis on the central meaning of the story. The style is thoroughly descriptive and fails to leave any details of the boys lives out. This abnormal level of serotoninleads to a range of symptoms including confusion, agitation, pupil dilation, head aches, change in blood pressure and temperature, nausea, diarrhea, increased heart rate, tremor, loss of muscle control (spasms) and heavy sweating (Fink 2007). It was seen in Joe s case that he experienced a high body temperature, increased heart rate, dilated pupils, muscle spasms and disorientation after consuming illicit drugs. Based on his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once a patient is at critical condition a state of sedation or neuromuscular paralysis is used to control agitation as well as restoring the changes in blood pressure, heart rate and body temperature. Symptithomimetic drugs such as norepinephrine and phenylephrine are used to treat patients who experience autonomic instability (Gillman 2010). Furthermore, the use of short acting nitroprusside or esmolol can be used to combat tachycardia and hypertension. It is important to take the cause of serotonin toxicity into consideration when determining the appropriate treatment. The enzyme monoamine oxidase is able to catabolize serotonin when in the presence of oxygen, thus oxygenation will aid in transporting the excess serotonin if the rise in body temperature or metabolic acidosis is prevented (Gillman 2010). Oxygen, however, will not assist in the dispatch of serotonin if monoamine oxidase inhibitors are the cause of serotonin syndrome (Frank 2008). Hydration is therefore key to provide oxygen in this situation until the enzyme is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. The Impact of Melting Ice Caps The Impact of Melting Ice Caps There is a large amount research demonstrating the impact of global warming on our planet. As the overall temperature of the Earth increases, ice and snow masses are melting. As more ice and snow is lost, the ocean s sea levels are rising. Additionally with less ice and snow, less sun light is reflected into space and instead it is absorbed by the planet. The continual absorption of the heat in sunlight gradually warms the planet along with other factors. Therefore, the loss of ice caps, glaciers, and snow is furthering the increase in the temperature of the planet. The polar ice caps play an enormous role in regulating the Earth s temperature. According to Montgomery (2008), polar ice reflects close to 90 percent of rays from the sun back into space. However, our dark oceans only bounce back around 10 percent of solar radiation (Calvin, 2008). One of the most important properties of that both ice and snow share is a very high albedo. Albedo is the amount of solar radiation reflected from an object or a surface (Cousineau, 2011). As glaciers and ice caps melt due to a process called thermal expansion, the tendency of matter to change in volume as a response to a change in temperature (Archer, 2007), our ocean s sea levels are rising at an extremely fast rate. Worldwide our sea levels have risen 4 8 inches throughout the 20th century (Wunderground, 2013). With the loss of ice caps and the gain of more water in our oceans less and ... Masera et al., 2000)) investigate the impacts of various factors such as household income, and education status that would influence household cooking fuel choice and then inform the policies to promote fuel switching to the modern sources. Mainly, two broad conceptual models are popular in the area of householdenergy choice and fuel transition in developing countries: Energy Ladder and Energy Stacking Models (Elias and Victor, 2005; Hosier and Dowd, 1987; Leach, 1992; Leach and Mearns, 1988; O. Masera et al., 2000). These models categorize energy resources into modern, transitional and traditional fuels given that different cooking fuels are available in the region. Modern fuels such as LPG or electricity are interpreted as superior because the inherent qualities of these fuels are relatively superior in terms of fuel efficiency and sustainability when compared to the traditional fuels. Transitional fuels are consumed during the transitional period; a period where traditional fuels are in the process of being replaced by the modern fuels. The factors influencing households fuel switching decisions in the energy ladder model are the household income, relative fuel prices, and fuel accessibility. However, the energy ladder model of perfect substitutability among the cooking fuels with respect to the income fails to be supported by most empirical evidence (Heltberg, 2005; Hosier and Dowd, 1987; Lee et al., ... • 40. Altruism True altruism does not exist . Discuss with reference to psychological theory and research. Many have defined altruism in a similar context, a special form of helping behaviour that is an act that is motivated by the desire to benefit another individual rather than oneself (Hogg Vaughan, 2008). An altruistic act does not necessarily have a negative or zero value to the actor (Margolis, 1982) but a true altruistic act is detrimental to the actor s fitness and enhances another individual s fitness, in other words, a selfless act (Batson, 1991). Throughout the evolution of altruism, there have been many controversies about the existence of true altruism. Most theories have argued that it stems from ulterior motives, but does that prove ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another motive of altruism to gain indirect returns is the egoistic motives. It is suggested by Mandeville (1732), where a person who is in a situation that causes personal distress would behave altruistically to relieve that particular distress. Although theories that suggest the non existence of true altruism may be persuasive, it does not explain the reasons for selfless deeds done by famous figures for their love and services to people such as Mother Teresa. Batson (1991) suggested a hypothesis and feels that some people are genuinely concerned about other people s welfare. According to his empathy altruism hypothesis, empathic concerns produce altruism motivation and relieving their sufferings is the main priority. This hypothesis is supported by several experiments where participants are typically given an opportunity to help those in need for whom they have been led to different levels of empathic concerns. Also, recent news has reported that chimpanzees (Choi, 2007) and toddlers (China Daily, 2006) have shown true altruistic behaviour. In conclusion, the existence of altruism has yet to be proven but that does not mean it does not exist. More research has to be done in this field to explain about other cases to prove its existence. This reasoning is the skill set that the occupational therapist draws from when working with clients in related to function and performance. Neistadt (1996) suggested that clinical reasoning is the combination of five interacting components (Ward, 2003). Carol Ann Duffy s Stealing An Analysis and thoughts.(Part One) This is a cold poem in more ways than one.The subject matter is seasonally icy and so is the tone of the speaker. • 54. Analysis Of The Book Maus Adolf Hitler stated, The Jews are undoubtedly a race, but they are not human. (2) Adolf Hitler was the man who started the Nazi Regime which became the biggest massacre in the world. The massacre was known as the Holocaust in which millions of Jews were killed. Maus tells the story of father who was a Polish Jew at the time of the Holocaust. Maus is also portrayed visually with high angle shots, low angle shots, curved lines, shadows and rule of thirds. Art Spiegelman drew his graphics in specific way, which was to grab the reader s attention more to the pictures rather than the words because a photo can explain a thousand words. There are two underlining stories in Maus. One story is telling how Vladeck survived Auschwitz and the other story is how Art, Vladeck s son, gets his story from his father and the relationship between Art and Vladeck. A graphic novel is a standalone pictorial narrative or a collective of single comic issues published in a book format. Maus is a graphic novel where Art Spiegelman tell the story of his father s experience in the Holocaust through pictures. Art Spiegelman does this through the use of shadows, symmetry, low and high points and rule of thirds. A well balanced frame gives the readers a sense of peace and security but throughout Maus there are many times where he does not want us to feel peaceful or safe. The last frame on page 32 is a perfect example. The flag is the vocal point. The Jews are very scared and worried. The flag is also ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 55. The Nature Of Human Behavior By nature, we are all amateur psychologists, constantly trying to, through the informal study of ourselves and others, make inferences and predictions about other s behaviour. This in turn has led to the creation of many common sense notions, or cultural beliefs about the nature of human behaviour that, while often espoused as factual and true, tend to hold up poorly when faced with legitimate scientific scrutiny, with an example being the belief that individuals always work harder in a group than on their own. Since, while it is undeniable that, by nature, we are social rather than solitary animals and that working in groups has had many advantages to the evolution of our species by allowing us to, for example, increase our safety in... Likewise, they tend to end up taking credit for the other s work, thus creating tension that negatively affects the group as a whole (Tomson Pieterse, 2010, p. 2). Moreover, outside of social loafing, group performance can also be negatively impacted by groupthink. Concerning group performance as a whole, groupthink is defined in Psychology: Evaluating connections, as a phenomenon that happens when the thinking of the group takes over, so much so that group members forgo logic or critical analysis in the service of reaching a decision (Fiest et al., 2016, p. 536 537). Likewise, it is discussed by Irving Janis (1971) in Groupthink, an article published in Psychology Today magazine, who was the first to propose its existence as a phenomena. Basing his theory on the thorough analysis of historical examples of poor decision such as the Bay of Pigs invasion, Janis concluded that groupthink arises when the members of decision making groups become motivated to avoid being too harsh in their judgments of their leaders or their colleagues ideas and avoid being critical of either their own or other s thinking (Janis, 1971, p. 84). This in turn leads to negative consequences for the group, such as the failure to consider other, more viable ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Greek Heroes In The Odyssey, And Oedipus Rex The classics of Greek literature: The Iliad, The Odyssey, and Oedipus Rex by their respective authors Homer and Sophocles have given us possible insight into how the Ancient Greeks Heroes viewed themselves. Although the Heroes of Ancient Greeks often possessed god like powers and skills, a closer look reveals that they seem to view themselves as weak children at the mercy of the gods. The Greek Heroes are portrayed as godlike in their stories such as the Iliad and the Odyssey they are the main characters. These heroes were subjected to the toy like treatment from opposing gods. Demonstrating her superiority, Athena uses her divine powers to trick Hector into fighting Achilles Athena luring him (Hector) on with all her immortal cunning.... (186 187). Athena had to forcibly trick Hector into fighting Achilles because hector was afraid of the Greek hero. This can show that the god simply adjusted the battle to favor her pawn Achilles. However, they did not often always remember their place on the food chain. In addition to forgetting, mortals often aggravated the gods by disrupting temples and prophets. So this would lead to severe punishment from the angered god. The heroes simply acted like disobedient children who had to be punished when they stepped out of line. Manipulation of mortal lives is one thing that the gods loved to do. This can be seen clearly in Oedipus Rex. The myth itself revolves around how his parents were presented with a prophecy from Apollo. This prophecy stated that the child would kill his father and marry his mother Aye, through fear of evil oracles.... They said he should kill his parents... (2.512.1267,1289).
