Gate Keepers Research Paper
Last year there was a huge debacle with many African American actors protesting the Oscars. The
issue was a lack of diversity involving the nominations for awards. Only white actors and actresses
were nominated for the top four awards, sadly for the second year in a row. Because of this, the
hashtag #oscarssowhite gained popularity, and was seen all across social media. Granted, the Oscars is
movie nominations, but TV and movies play hand and hand with being film entertainment. Also, there
were plenty of television actors that had their fair share to say about the Oscars being too white and it
just makes you think is it just the Oscars or is television is too white? In my opinion, diversity is not

Cerebral Palsy Upper Limb
Cerebral Palsy Orthotic Treatment of the Upper Limb
Cerebral Palsy (CP) is an example of an upper motor neurone lesion and a general term for a group of
neurological conditions that affect movement and co ordination. It affects around 1 in 400 people,
occurring in utero or the first few years of life. Multiple parts of the brain can be affected, resulting in
different types and severities. Approximately 80% have upper limb involvement with problems in the
wrist and hand being most frequent, which affect activities of daily living (ALDs) such as eating.
Around 56% are prescribed upper limb orthoses, with only around half using them. Upper limb

Essay on Ronald Reagan
President Ronald Reagan Ronald Reagan was born on February 6, 1911 in Tampico, Illinois
(Huckshorn 1). He was born in a small apartment above the Pitney General Store (Life Before 1). John
Edward Reagan (his father) was a shoe salesman that was an alcoholic. The first time he saw his son
he said, For such a little bit of a fat Dutchman, he makes a hell of a lot of noise, doesn t he (Life

Reagan was the popular voice of baseball and football in the Midwest. In 1936, Reagan started into
films. Warner Brothers offered him a salary of $200 per week. By the time he became governor of
California in 1967, he had 50 films to his credit (Life Before 2). His most important film was the
movie titled Knute Rockne—All American . He used the words when he ran for president from this

Cost Accouting Systems for John Deere Component Works
Management Consultants
Report
Executive Summary
John Deere Component Works (JDCW) has been subject to a number of unsuccessful competitive bids
due to the inherent deficiencies of their existing costing system. This has illustrated the importance of
obtaining a thorough understanding of costs, and desirability of implementing a superior costing
system.
This report contains: * A general overview of the problems confronted by JDCW * An analysis of the
current standard costing system * An exposition of Activity Based Costing (ABC) * An evaluation of
the strengths and weaknesses of each system * Recommendations

Following this revelation, management attention was directed to the current costing system.
Traditional Costing System
JDCW employed a traditional standard costing system throughout its operations. This form of costing
permeated the industrial era, which was categorised by low overhead costs and the production of a
limited variety of goods. Standard costing involves allocating overheads to cost objects using volume
based cost drivers, such as machine or labour hours. Albeit easy to implement and understand, this
system frequently results in over costing and under costing. JDCW priced their products based on full
costs, which included all direct material, labour, overhead and period overhead, using standard
costing. Whilst this practice was satisfactory for internal transactions, the inefficiencies were
emphasised when JDCW sought to bid for parts against external suppliers. Number of machine hours,
direct labour hours and material dollars were used as overhead allocation rates. By restricting the
overhead rates to the aforementioned volume based activities, several problems eventuated.
The Industrial Engineering department used pre established standard hours for direct labour runtime.
Using standard hours produced costing discrepancies, especially because no emphasis was placed on
direct materials, overhead and period overhead costs. This was an insufficient method to compare
actual and standard percentages.

Utilitarianism In Star Wars
In the original trilogy the protagonists are underdogs, however, in the prequels, the supposed good
guys are shown to be a powerful combination of government and military lead by monastic warriors.
The structure of the Jedi order and their influence over a republican senate closely resembles the
relationship between the Roman Catholic church, the Knights templar, and western European
countries. Christendom historically was a socio religious community that became corrupted by greedy
individuals. It transformed into a geopolitical, secular power controlled by the wealthy and imposed
its will by force. This conception of corruption and war profiteering is depicted in the Star Wars films

One side inspires the people to go after the other because of one act of aggression perpetrated by only
one sect of the particular side. History and narrative coincide when observing a very political war with
the strings pulled by competing religions. The republic fears disunity as planets align with the

most of Europe was unaffected by the military advancements made by Turks and Ottomans, Pope

How Did Robert Oppenheimer Impact Society
Looking down across the vast landscape of Japan, massive skyscrapers reaching for the heavens fill
the horizon illustrating the strength and potential of the nation. However, on August 6th, 1945, one
man s invention would bring this powerful nation to its knees. The brilliant mind responsible for the
atomic mushroom cloud that enveloped the city belonged to a lanky, beanstalk looking man from New
York named Julius Robert Oppenheimer, who later became known as the father of the atomic bomb.
Robert Oppenheimer affected society in a positive way through his work in the Manhattan Project
during World War II, his advancements in the world of physics and through establishing some of the
top science research facilities in the country. Robert Oppenheimer, or Oppie to his friends, was an up

Education became his main goal after the Manhattan project. Often times, Oppenheimer s impact on
education gets overlooked because of his influence in the Manhattan project. However, Oppenheimer
was responsible, according to the late Nobel Prize winning physicist Hans Bethe, of creating the
greatest school of theoretical physics that the United States has ever known. By establishing the
graduate program at Berkeley, he engendered opportunities for scientists in America that previously
did not exist. When he came to the Institute for Advanced Study, he did much the same thing (J.
Robert Oppenheimer s Legacy). His influence was so powerful that anywhere the man went,
breakthrough science would follow. The impact he had on education cannot be measured because of
all the different ways he was able to influence science. His colleague said Oppenheimer will leave a
lasting memory in all the scientists who have worked with him, and in all the many who have passed
through his school and whose taste in physics was formed by him. His was a truly brilliant mind (J.

The Narrator In William Faulkner s A Rose For Emily
The narrator plays a key role in the development of the plot and meaning of a story. A Rose for Emily,
by William Faulkner, tells the story of Miss Emily Grierson and her mysterious, isolated life. The
narrator of the story, who never reveals their identity, presents the story in a unique way; using a slight
combination of first and third person points of view. Although hard to identify, the narrator at some
points does and does not include themselves in the information they are sharing with the readers. To
start, the author narrates using this style to keep the readers wondering and interested. In addition,
Faulkner wishes to portray Emily as a sympathetic character. Also, the narrator communicates the
story in a manner similar to the way ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Faulkner achieves this by revealing details about her, not about what happens to her in life, towards
the end of the story. Emily went through many tragic events throughout her life, but why she acts a
certain remains a secret. An example of when the narrator wants to make the readers feel sympathy
towards Emily is when her father s death comes up. The narrator reveals this at the beginning, so her
following actions do not seem bizarre. Once her father dies, she insists that he is not dead and does not
want them to take his body away from her. The narrator says, We did not say she was crazy then. We
believed she had to do that (Faulkner 153). The readers interpret that the narrator experiences affection
for Emily and admires her, as her behaviours never come off as peculiar. Faulkner uses the narrator to
provide outside observations to the readers. If the story had a different point of view, for example,
Emily s point of view, the readers would not be receiving the information in a way that would help
understand her situation. The narrator provides foreshadowing, We did not say she was crazy then
(Faulkner 153). The word then indicates that the citizens did not see her as crazy before; but once they
discover more information they realize that something is definitely not right. In conclusion, the
narrator tells the story out of order to make the readers sympathetic towards Miss Emily so they have
the ability to connect with

The Earth And It s Peoples
1. A cosmopolitan civilization developed through increased and farther reaching trade, connections,
conquests, and relocations. This civilization took the form of diverse groups of people with similar
technologies and beliefs. The book, The Earth and It s Peoples says, Akkadian became the language of
correspondence between governments. The Elamites and Hittites, among others, adapted the
cuneiform system to write their own languages... Mesopotamian myths, legends, and styles of art and

The effects of Egypt s control can be shown in, In Nubia, Egypt imposed direct control and pressed
the native population to adopt Egyptian language and culture...Egypt fully participated in the
diplomatic and commercial networks linking the states of Western Asia. Egyptian soldiers,
administrators, diplomats, and merchants traveled widely, bringing back new fruits and vegetables,
new musical instruments, and new technologies... (page 73, paragraphs 11 12). Egypt used their power
to create a sort of mini Egypt , this caused a rise an Egyptian practices and culture. In addition to
spreading their own culture, Egypt also gathered from others. They used their connections, created
through their territorial expansion, in order to learn and evolve their civilization. As a result of this,
their actions and habits may have changed. It s important to know how societies may influence and
change one another, whether it be through force or trade.

Analysis Of The Film Safe Haven
In the romantic and drama/thriller film Safe Haven it has an unexpected twist in the final few minutes
of the movie. One of the main characters reads a letter that s giving advice and is full of mixed
emotions to the audience. However, the letter contains a surprising detail that no one saw coming, it
contained a shocking reveal about another character in the story. Not only that but we see flashbacks
to support the twist we never saw coming, basically to show the audience of how insane and
surprising the twist was.

The film would ve been a lot more tense if it had shown greater details in that aspect.
The opening scene was powerful and dramatic, and has a beautiful visual, especially with the sets, and
cinematography. The actor Julianne Hough was very engaging in the film and played her role
outstanding. The role Julianne played is very important because it shows what a woman in an abusive
relationship goes through, and a person who watches the film and is in an abusive relationship can
possibly open their eyes and help them realize that they can escape out of that unhealthy/abusive
relationship. Furthermore, the musical and cinematography of the scenes helped orchestrate each
moment of the film in a unique and exceptional way. In the role being played by David Lyons, his
skills of acting seemed very realistic and captures the attention of the audience, and were a highlight
in every scene he was featured in. Another key downfall that the audience may notice is the age
difference between actor Josh Duhamel and actress Julianne Hough. Besides the age difference
between the actors, Josh Duhamel played an excellent role as a father to his two kids. Compared to
most romantic movies, this film seemed to have its own unique love story and a shocking twist.
Just by looking at the poster of a film you can right away tell when it is based on a novel by Nicholas
Sparks. Sparks is one of the most beloved

Comparing America And France s Economic And Political...
PREFACE
Anyu Wang
In this paper I am going to concentrate on comparing and contrasting how America and France s
economic and political policies choices combined with their cultural and historic backgrounds helped
their current place on the word stage. It is undoubted that the United States and France are two of the
strongest and most competitive countries in the world. Although they have almost the same economic
system and same concept, they still have very different current situations which are closely bound up
with their historic backgrounds and political choices. Through this paper I am going to discuss this
topic through several sections.

To discuss its historic background I will concentrate on the Bretton Woods System. Bretton Woods
System is an international currency system started form 1944 July at the end of the Second World War.
This system require each country to obey the rule that they tied its currency to gold in order to keep
the exchange rate stable and prevent the currencies from devaluation. The establishment of this system
ensure the resume and development of capitalist world economy especially America. Although this
system ultimately disintegrated in 1973, it still make significant contributions to America s
irreplaceable role today.
France
The French Republic is a sovereign state comprising territory in western Europe and several overseas
regions and territories. As a member of G7 France ranked as the world s seventh largest economy. It
also has the mixed economy which combines private enterprise and government intervention. France s
economics are unstable, but it is still very competitive in the world. The reason why its economics is
denounced is because its high unemployment rate and its extremely unstable CPI.
To discuss the development of France s economy I will focus on the Marshall Plan. Marshall Plan, as
an approach of the United States to control the Europe and oppose the Soviet Union, also helped the
Europe with their bad economics. After the second world war, France tried to use government
intervention by Jean Monnet to recover its economics. In fact,

T Is Common For People To Doubt The Trinity Of God Because
t is common for people to doubt the Trinity of God because the word Trinity itself does not occur in
the Bible. It is reasonable to think a concept that is so important to the Christian faith would have a
formal definition included as a Bible verse so that it can be learned and memorized. In spite of the fact
that there is not a verse that defines the word Trinity , the Bible does clearly show that God exists as
three equal persons as God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. The Old Testament
constantly insists that there is only one God who must be worshipped and loved as the only God. The
New Testament agrees. I think the concept of God being the Father is easy for Christians and peoples

The Old Testament descriptions of God are applied to Jesus by both Matthew (Matt 3:3, Isa. 40:3) and
John (John 12:41, Isa. 6:1). Jesus disciples were convinced He was God because he possessed the
attributes of God: Life (John 1:4), Self existence (John 5:26), Immutability (Heb. 13:8), Truth (John
14:6), Love (I John 3:1), Holiness Luke 1:35), Eternity (John 1:1), Omnipresence (Matt. 28:20),
Omniscience (Matt. 9:4), Omnipotence (Matt. 28:18). Dr. Wallace s textbook also provides examples
in Scripture where a) the works of God are ascribed to Jesus (John 1:3, Col. 1:17), b) honor and
worship due only to God is given to Jesus (John 5:23, Rom. 10:9, Heb. 1:6, Phil. 2:10 11, Rev. 5:12
14, and c) Jesus name is associated with that of God on an equal basis (Matt. 28:19, I Cor. 1:3, II Cor.
13:14, John 5:23, John 14:1, Col. 3:1, John 5:18). Jesus promised to send a helper to carry on His
work. The promised Helper was the Holy Spirit. From the start He was recognized as the third divine
Person, as one who receives honor due only to God (I Cor. 3:16) and is associated as an equal to God
(Matt. 28:19, II Cor. 13:14). Peter said in Acts 5:3 4 that to lie to the Holy Spirit is to lie to God. The
Holy Spirit also has God s attributes ascribed to Him, such as Life (Rom. 8:2), Truth (John 16:13),
Love (Rom. 15:30), Holiness (Eph. 4:30), Eternity (Heb. 9:14),

Property Creates Human Greed By Rousseau s State Of Nature
Property creates human greed. As soon as one man realized that it was useful for a single individual to
have provisions for two, equality disappeared, property came into existence, labor became necessary
demonstrates that men will subjugate and deprive others in order to act in self interest (74). Once the
strong came to understand the pleasure of accumulating more than is necessary for survival, they
thought of nothing but the subjugation and enslavement of their neighbors, like those ravenous wolves
that on having once tasted human flesh, reject all other food and desire to devour only men (78). This
inequality is illegitimate in divine abode of Rousseau s state of nature, but property develops
constructed legitimacy since ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because force is always illegitimate, property maintained through force is always illegitimate as well.
The illegitimacy of force is demonstrated by Rousseau s stinging condemnation of the sultan who
rules through force. The sultan s rule is illegitimate, but those who overthrow the sultan with force are
equally illegitimate. Rousseau explains that the uprising that ends in the strangulation or the
dethronement of the sultan is as lawful an act as those by which he disposed of the lives and goods of
his subjects the day before. Force alone maintained him, force alone brings him down (90). Property
can only be seized through force, which is always illegitimate, regardless of the current proprietor s
illegitimate claim to the land. In both Marx s depiction of society and Rousseau s, humans have
developed through a succession of stages to act in self interest, oppressing other humans for the sake
of material gain. They agree that property is a human construction created by the strong to solidify
social status and sustained through illegitimate legal and economic systems. For both philosophers,
illegitimate property leads to labor becoming deeply dehumanizing. The craving to own illegitimate
property comes from human greed, appetites, and socialization. On the surface, Marx and Engel s
theory is compatible with Rousseau s. The philosophies, however, have many significant differences.

Analysis Of Green Is The New Red By Will Potter
Throughout his book, Green Is The New Red, Will Potter explores environmental activism and its
reception from American politicians, corporations, and administrations. Potter begins by sharing his
experience leafleting when the FBI unexpectedly threatened to put him on a domestic terrorist list if
he did not cooperate. His encounter with the FBI is frightening although by no means is it uncommon
if we consider the post 9/11 era that we live in. In this day and age, the elite will irrationally label non

The United States government, as Potter argues, treats attacks on corporate property more seriously

Motivation to Breastfeed

thesis (if I get into the honors psychology program), and down the road for my dissertation. I selected
this article from other breastfeeding ones because it uses data, and because it talks about the
motivation behind breastfeeding. As a lactation consultant I encounter times when I can tell that the
mother comes to me because breastfeeding is just what you do, but really doesn t want to do it; so the
information from the article can give me an idea how to better help my clients. This article compared
the act of breastfeeding to addictive behaviors. It talked about how the bliss experienced while
breastfeeding, the stress right before breastfeeding, and the withdrawal during weaning. I enjoyed

Pixar Merger Essay
Walt Disney has agreed on February 17th agreed to acquire Pixar, the animated film studio, in a $7.4
billion deal ($6.3 billion in stock plus $1.1 billion of the company s cash) it hopes will give new life to
its animation department and better position the company to compete in the digitalized media, while
noting that the price tag may water down Disney s profits in the near term. The deal also gives Pixar
and Jobs unprecedented access into what is perhaps the world s most renowned entertainment brand,
bringing together Disney s historic franchise of animated characters, such as Mickey, Minnie Mouse
and Donald Duck, with Pixar s stable of cartoon hits, including the two Toy Story films, Finding

Disney and Pixar can now collaborate without the barriers that come from two different companies
with two different sets of shareholders. Several Pixar executives will oversee Disney s animation unit

Both racial doubt and relativism tells us that we can t be certain about our current knowledge, there is
no right and wrong and we can t be 100% sure of what we know is the truth. The difference between
racial doubt and relativism is that racial doubt talk about the certainty of our current knowledge, while
relativism tells us that there is no absolute truth on earth.
Advantage :
● Racial doubt: The reality might be completely different from what you expected, this allows you to
rethink your current knowledge
● Relativism: Everyone s opinion are being treated equally, there is no right or wrong
Disadvantage:
● Racial doubt: you have no clue if any of the current knowledge that you have is correct or reliable,
you will start doubting everything you encounter.
● Relativism: It s hard to come up with a conclusion, knowing that there is no right answer

Perfectionism And Procrastination
Procrastination is a common form of self regulatory failure with substantive connections where the
tendency is to put off tasks. (Steel, Farrari, 2013)
Perfectionism is when one sets very high expectations often in an overly critical manner (Frost,
Marten, Lahart, Rosenblate,1990).
There s two types of perfectionism, adaptive and maladaptive where adaptive components are
beneficial to the situational and maladaptive components will be detrimental to the individual. (Piers

procrastination, personality, performance and mood in 152 undergraduates. The study relied on self

Strength Training
The benefit of strength and strength training for footballers is well supported by research. For
example, De Proft and colleagues had one group of Belgian professionals perform extra weight
training during the season. Compared to a control group of colleagues who did no extra training, the
players improved their kicking power and leg strength. Reilly (1990)[2] showed that the stronger
players outlasted the weaker players in terms of a regular place in the team, and had reduced injury
risks. He recommends that leg strength in particular is developed, especially in the quadriceps and
hamstrings, to help stabilise the knee joint, which is the most frequently injured joint in football. Apor

These exercises demand a high force of contraction in response to a rapid loading of lengthening
muscles. For this reason, they should be more accurately called reversible action or rebound exercises.
The training effort increases the force production in the muscles, but the movements are performed at
faster speeds than weight training exercises. Thus rebound exercises are more specific to the sprinting
and jumping movements in football. These exercises should be done in 3 5 sets of 8 repetitions for
each leg, with at least one minute s rest between sets. The quality and speed of the movement is the
priority. The other training element that is required for improving sprinting speed is sprinting itself.
This should be done with maximum efforts over 30 60m. Again, at least one minute s rest between
runs should be allowed so that quality can be maintained. Remember, with this kind of training the
aim is to develop the maximum speed; endurance should not become a factor. Sprinting done uphill,
with weighted jackets, or towing weights is also useful because it adds resistance to the sprint
movement, placing greater load on the muscles in the most specific manner. Again, short distances
with long rests are

Gender and Power Dyanics in ; ‘Oroonoko’ by Aphra Behn and...
Paper 1; Oroonoko by Aphra Behn and The Rape of the Lock by Alexander Pope
The relationship between gender and power dynamics is relevant to the understanding of literature
through the ages. However, the widespread problematic belief that women are simply the passive,
powerless victims of male power is oversimplified and outdated. Power relations, as theorized by
Foucault in The History of Sexuality are far more complex; the dynamic is ever changing, from
moment to moment and therefore any interpretation of the exchange of power requires a much deeper
analysis than what meets the eye. The idea of power determined from and by sexuality can be
understood in a comparison of the novel, Oroonoko by Aphra Behn with the satiric poem, ... Show

Pope describes Belinda who is meant to represent women in the era in the lines: Her lively looks a
sprightly mind disclose,/ Quick as her eyes, and unfixed as those: ( The Rape of the Lock , Canto II,
p.50). The use of the word sprightly refers to her being gay, vivacious, somewhat ditzy and her being
unfixed implies that Belinda, and women in general are fickle and unable to focus on any one thing.
Overall, Pope generalizes women as superficial, sprightly and attention seeking. This creates some
debate as to whether these women are powerful in being significant enough to be represented in the
first place or powerless in having their essence being snatched away by Pope. Additionally, while the
poem attempts the critique the values associated with femininity such as vanity, shallowness, self
obsession, and beauty, in order to do so it lends these qualities power to be the central theme of the
poem, in a sense glorifying the very same values he aims to critique.
Both texts pivot directly around female sexuality and its implications in a patriarchal culture where
women s bodies and their purity are regulated and valued as their true value. Imoinda is presented as

To What Extent Were African-American Slaves “Free” After...
Abstract:
To what extent were African American slaves free after the abolition of slavery by the Emancipation
Proclamation in 1863? What challenges did they face after their emancipation? This is a subject of
continued interest. History is rife with records of decades of untold torture and harrowing experiences.
African American slaves suffered at the hands of their captors and masters. They were denied all
natural rights as human beings and forced to live like animals. A slave was viewed as one third of a
person and the property of their owner(s) and treated as objects, mere things. One would therefore
assume that after their emancipation, life would become significantly better because the slaves were

Being pregnant did not spare a slave woman the whip or rod. A hole was dug for her to rest her belly
while being whipped. They were also at constant risk of losing members of their families if their
owners decided to sell them for profit, punishment, or to pay debts. Slavery indeed was dehumanizing
in every sense of the word.
The Declaration of Emancipation was monumental, and came with the renewed sense of hope that life
after their emancipation would become significantly better. Being free, the former slaves envisaged
being able to live with a sense of purpose and pride in a land ripe with a cornucopia of opportunities
waiting to be capitalized on. Spirits were high and celebration took place as ideas and fantasies of a
rich lifestyle with a good standard of living were being formulated.[1] For some ex slaves, their
dreams became somewhat of a reality as their fight for survival during slavery helped them develop
the wits needed to succeed in their new found world. Unfortunately, there were many tragic
disappointments, as nearly all the slaves that were emancipated were forced to return back to their old
masters after leaving the plantations, starving and diseased.[2] Many were not able to survive on their
own. This came as a result of both internal and external forces being somewhat trapped by their own
helplessness, insecurities, lack of knowledge[3] and still viewed as

The Fetishism of Coffee in America Essay
There are many essentials that are fetishized by Americans; one of those things is coffee. It is no secret
that there is a big demand for coffee with many specialty coffee shops springing up, such as
Starbucks, Peet s and Coffee Bean. Oftentimes, the consumer loses sight of where things come from
and how they are produced. A key component of production is the producer. The consumer does not
pay enough attention to the ethical treatment and wages of the producer. This paper discusses Karl
Marx s premise on Fetishism of Commodities and its direct relation to the production of coffee,
focusing on the value of the coffee bean as well as how that directly impacts the farmer and his family.

He states that material essentials have use value. A thing will have use value because it becomes a
commodity and is produced for others. The price of a use value item is not determined by how useful
but what the thing does and how frequently it is used (Marx in Desfor Edles and Appelrouth 2012:65,
69). As a material essential s use value grows it becomes more desired Marx believes that it becomes a
fetishized commodity. Marx restructured his earlier theory of alienation as fetishism of commodities.
Fetishism is similar to alienation; however the premise of consumerism is developed in the way that
the consumer loses sight of the labor it takes to create commodities. To the consumer, commodities are
magnificent and allow the material item to take control of their lives. This is allowed to happen
because the producers of material commodities do not come into contact with one another. Therefore,
there is no thought put into how laborious, and time consuming, it was to create the commodity (Marx
in Desfor Edles and Appelrouth 2012:68, 73). It is evident that there are many things being fetishized
in present day. Specialty coffee has been become increasingly popular since the 1980 s. As of 2001 27
million Americans consumed specialty coffee daily (Ponte 2002:1111). It can be said that Starbucks
helped create the explosion and set the environment that it drew with

Adoption Essay s Arguments Against Abortion
Is taking a life okay? People say that taking a life is wrong yet 125,000 abortions happen a day.
Although abortions are legal right now, it should be illegal.
First off, taking a life should not be a choice. In Arizona, killing a pregnant woman is a crime. The law
specifies that the defendant shall not be released until the completion of thirty years if the murdered
person was under fifteen years of age or was an unborn child (Fetus Homicide State Laws). This
proves the fetus had a life. When he/ she would have been born, he/ she would be equal to a child that
is out of the womb. Secondly, the baby feels pain. When the mother takes the pill to burn the baby, the
pill burns the baby. He/ she would either die from or get pulled out limb by limb from the womb. The
baby feels the pain of getting killed. He/ she opens his/ her mouth to cry, but no sound ... Show more

For example, people will ask, what is the woman was raped? the answer is to give the baby up for
adoption. The healing process begins with empowerment and regaining the control lost in an assault.
Victims of sexual assault must be able to reclaim control of their own bodies and lives (where we
stand). Giving the child up for adoption will be a choice that the victim made and will help her control
her life. Taking away the fetus life will just cause him/ her pain. The pain of rape is still there, bay or
not. Others will say that some people are not ready for kids. The answer is simple, do not have sex.
Unless the woman was raped, she should not surprise. Give the baby for adoption, some people cannot
have kids and they would want a baby. Lastly, the baby would be ill. Just because the child would
have a hard life, does not mean there parent should not let them experience the life in general. Parents
should give the best lives they can. It is better to feel loved and happy then to not feel anything. Life is
a blessing and should not be taken

the title, You Can t Write A Poem About McDonalds states that the writer can t and is challenging
themselves. The challenge is answered by R.W writing this poem. There is quite a lot of sensory
details in this poem. For example, in line 2, the word singing you can hear the grumbling and feel the
rumbling in the readers belly. Also, in line 7, the reader can hear the screaming doom , as well as in
line 10, the reader can see how people are really slow and lazy and basically carrying themselves and
their weight. This makes the think that people who eat a lot at McDonald s and other fast food
restaurants are addicted and they can t stop and their body reacts in a bad way, such as they get larger,
are lazier, and many more. Next, in line 13, the reader can smell the saltiness of not only sweat but
also their fries and burgers. When the reader thinks about this line, it makes the reader think: People
are not exercising too much after eating a lot of McDonald s so there must be a lot of people and when
there is too much people in a room things can get smelly. Now, in lines 15 and 16, the reader can see

To what extent are volcanic landforms fundamental to our understanding of plate tectonics theory?
(40) Plate tectonics theory is the scientific theory that describes the large scale motion of the Earth s
lithosphere, which is broken up into tectonic plates. Volcanic landforms are undoubtedly very
important in aiding our understanding of plate tectonic theory. However, there is other evidence that
must be considered as well. Different types of volcanoes are created at plate margins due to the
viscosity of the lava. The two main types of volcanoes are composite volcanoes and shield volcanoes.
Composite volcanoes are generally formed at destructive plate boundaries as high viscous lava is
produced as less dense oceanic crust is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of this is the south east coast of North America and the south west coast of Africa. This
aids our understanding of plate tectonic theory on a large scale over millions of years. However,
although there is a lot of evidence from volcanic landforms that can be used to explain plate tectonics
theory, there is other important evidence that cannot be ignored. Fossil evidence is very important for
our understanding of plate tectonics theory. Similar animal fossils have been found on the South
American and African continents. These fossils suggest that the continents were once joined together.
Fossils of an extinct reptile, named a Mesosaurus, have been found in southern Africa and South
America. Scientists believe that the only explanation for this fossil being found on these two
continents is that they were once joined and have become separated due to plate movements. Plant
fossils, such as a fossil of the Glossopteris tree have been found in several countries across the
Southern Hemisphere such as India, Australia and even Antarctica. The discovery of these fossils
prompted scientists to conclude that these countries must once have been joined in one large land
mass. The discovery of such fossils as this in Antarctica gives additional weight to this theory as
vegetation cannot survive the harsh Antarctic environment suggesting that if vegetation has been able
to grow previously, the positioning of the continent must have been

Junot Diaz s Truly Does Tell The Brief Story Of The...
Junot Diaz s novel truly does tell the brief story of the wondrous life of Oscar de Léon, our Dominican
American protagonist, better known as Oscar Wao. Weighing in at 245 pounds, our hopeless romantic
loves comic books, writes science fiction in all of his spare time, and, as described by our
homodiegetic narrator Yunior, is a loser with a capital L (Diaz 17). While the title might allude that
this is a story solely about Oscar, Diaz also delves deep into the lives of those closest to him. This
narrative tells the epic journey of Oscar, as well as his family members, and how their experiences in
the United States and Dominican Republic come together full circle at the end of The Brief Wondrous
Life of Oscar Wao, with the help of some postmodern techniques. As an immigrant himself, Diaz is
able to use his journey to bring attention to the cultural stereotypes of his characters, but unlike many
bildungsroman writings, our character s coming of age story does not provide him with enough
spiritual learnings to give him the quintessential happy ending. The overall growth of Oscar only
reveals the flaws in his culture, a fatal flaw in his case. Because Oscar does not comply with the
Dominican standards, he faces heavy repercussions in his life. As a story told in a fragmented, non
linear form, Yunior is able to recall anecdotes from different time periods, whether of Oscar, his
mother Beli, or his sister Lola. Diaz gives his narrator the ability to tell a historical account of

Parkinson s Disease And The Disease
Parkinson s disease is a chronic disorder of the nervous system with a gradual onset that primarily
affects the body s motor system. The symptoms of the disease are mainly caused by the death of
dopamine producing cells in the midbrain. Dopamine is an important neurotransmitter that, among
other things, is responsible for playing a role in how the brain controls bodily movements. Therefore,
the cardinal symptoms of the disease are movement related, including tremor and rigid, jerky
movements. Parkinson s is a progressive disease, meaning it gets worse over time, until it eventually
leads to complete disability. Parkinson s is a fairly common disease, and several well known people,

Parkinson s disease produces both motor symptoms and nonmotor symptoms. There are four cardinal
motor symptoms of Parkinson s: tremor, rigidity, bradykinesia (slow movements), and postural
instability. Tremor is the most obvious symptom of Parkinson s, as well as the most common. The
tremor is uncontrollable and is most noticeable when the limb is at rest; when the limb is in use, the
tremor disappears. Often times, the tremor only affects the hand or foot on one side of the body, but it
can eventually become bilateral. Rigidity is characterized as stiffness and resistance to movement in
the limbs. The arms, legs, face, and back are areas commonly affected. Early on, rigidity can cause
joint pain, often in the shoulder. Bradykinesia is one of the most common symptoms of Parkinson s. It
is described as slowness and difficulty in initiating and making movements, especially repetitive
movements and fine motor skills, such as writing. Bradykinesia greatly affects the ability of the
Parkinson s sufferer to perform common activities of daily life, like getting dressed. According to
Nolden (2015), postural instability is the imbalance and loss of righting reflexes. This is usually a
symptom that shows up in the late stages of Parkinson s. Postural instability is linked with high rates
of hip fractures in people with Parkinson s disease, due to increased falls. Aside from the four cardinal
motor symptoms, there are secondary motor symptoms that go

Dr Kanodia
If you have thought of seeing a functional medicine doctor in OH, here is an honest review of Dr
Kanodia. My first couple appointments w Dr Kanodia gave me some great information as he ran many
tests. I did notice that he didn t really treat me as a person, but as a math problem to figure out. He is
very pushy and controlling. UNFORTUNATELY, he kept telling me a bunch of different supplements
to take and he then put me on acetic vinegar and it ate through the lining of my stomach. I have been
nauseous for months and my new team of functional, traditional and naturopathic doctors predict that
it will take 3 6 months to heal my stomach due to the severe damage that was done with the mix of
supplements and acetic vinegar Dr. Kanodia put me on. When I tried to email and call for help from
Dr. Kanodia as I was having trouble even getting out of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I had to call a different doctor to detox the test material out of her body. When I told my eye doctor
and my Obgyn about my experience w Dr. Kanodia, they both said hat they have heard he same story
from several other of their patients. I am writing this to hopefully save someone else the time, money
and stress that I have gone through by seeing Dr. Kanodia. There are other options!!! DO NOT SEE
HIM IF YOU ARE A DIABETIC. HE PUT ME ON SEVERAL SUPPLEMENTS THAT RAISED
MY BLOOD SUGARS AND HE DOESN T UNDERSTAND HOW WHAT HE PUTS YOU ON
CAN AFFECT YOUR BLOOD SUGARS AND DIGESTION. Each supplement he has you try is
about $50, so I had to throw away a few very expensive supplements because he doesn t pay attention
to all the factors of diabetes. He just sees you as a Harvard math

The Effect of Age, Gender and Social Habits on Taste...
Abstract
An individual s taste sensitivity is influenced by many aspects such as gender, age and social habits
like smoking. To investigate what could have an impact on an individual s taste ability, psychology
students conducted an experiment on 595 non diabetic participants. In the experiment, participants
were asked to taste 8 different water sugar solutions with different sugar strength, then were asked to
state whether the solution had sugar in it or not. As hypothesised, female participants were more able
to detect the sugar in the solution than male participants, also, non smokers were able to get a higher
hit rate than smokers. These findings suggest that the sense of taste is affected by each individual s
gender and whether ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To test the hypothesis that taste sensitivity varies from an individual to another, and to detect the
absolute threshold of sugar dissolved in water through the perception of taste, this experiment was
conducted. Participants in the experiment tasted water sugar solution with different strength and were
asked to state if the liquid they were given had sugar in it or not. To get more accurate results, the
participants were not told if all the different liquids had sugar in them or if the sugar amount varies in
each solution. As the selectivity theory predicts, when an individual ages, their sense of taste should
considerably decrease. Also, I predict that the taste sensitivity in non smokers should be higher than in
smokers, as well as higher in females than in males.
Method
Participants The participants were chosen at random by the researchers who are Massey university
psychology students. The researchers were asked to conduct the experiment on two participants who
are over the age of 11 and not diabetic. The total of participants was 595, including 326 females and
269 males. The mean age of the participants was 35.63 with female mean age of 36.71 and male mean
age of 34.31. The conductors were advised to find smokers for half the participants if possible; so 202
of the participants were smokers and 393 were non smokers. Participants fully understood what was
expected of them before they took a part of the experiment.

Canada Government s Health Care System
Canada government allowed change to the privatization health care system to citizens Every countries
governments seek to deliver high quality health care and reasonable cost to all citizens. However, all
nations have not equality health care service and reasonable cost. Canada government provides
equality health care services and public facilities to the citizens. However, Canada Health Care System
has been the subject of controversies compared to the United States Health Care System. Some people
may agree with the idea because people should not wait longer for surgeries or examinations, patients
have high quality of medical and better services. However, if change the health care system, Canada
government cannot intervene to health care system, Canada citizens pay higher medical cost and do
not get equality services. One of the most important reasons why health care should not be
privatization to citizen is Canada government cannot intervene to health care system. The government
do not provide the health care service to the public. The reasons for health care depend on government
polices rather than private enterprises. First, health care services will be monopolization to private
enterprises. The government do not lead health care system. Many private enterprises compete in price
for customer acquisition the first time. However, private enterprises will be price of unity to citizens.
For example, International oil prices have reached the lowest for Brexit. Therefore, most

American Language Pluralism
1. What were the dominant concerns of the founders of the United States with regard to language?
Several of the founders deemed standardization of language usage to be a grave concern because the
US does not have a designated language.
2. What attitudes did pre twentieth century Americans display toward linguistic diversity? What
attitudes did they hold toward assimilation or cultural pluralism? The attitudes of pre twentieth
century Americans toward linguistic diversity, as well as, assimilation appears to be one of non
accepting. However, Anthropologist and individuals within these different societies, on the other hand,
strongly disagreed with this belief.
3. What seems to account for waves of concern about an official language? There are several reasons
for the apprehension surrounding an official language. Some feel the unity and customs would be
destroyed, while others felt the Americans would lose respect from other countries if the American
language was not standardized. Allowing for non standardization of the American language could

This category was viewed as a social problem thus causing a change from manualism to oralism.
Educating the deaf is much like educating the Native Americans. Society treated the deaf much like
immigrants. This treatment later led to sign language becoming accepted as a foreign or second
language in many colleges today. Intermarriage with the deaf was discouraged because it was believed
to create a separatist race. Once again, the focus of oralism, just like the assimilation of Native
Americans, is on unity as a nation and social order through homogeneity within the language and
culture. Like Native American languages, sign has enjoyed a rebirth in the last 40

Only white actors and actresses were nominated for the top four awards, sadly for the second year in a row. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Following this revelation, management attention was directed to the current costing system. Traditional Costing System JDCW employed a traditional standard costing system throughout its operations. This form of costing permeated the industrial era, which was categorised by low overhead costs and the production of a limited variety of goods. Standard costing involves allocating overheads to cost objects using volume based cost drivers, such as machine or labour hours. Albeit easy to implement and understand, this system frequently results in over costing and under costing. JDCW priced their products based on full costs, which included all direct material, labour, overhead and period overhead, using standard costing. Whilst this practice was satisfactory for internal transactions, the inefficiencies were emphasised when JDCW sought to bid for parts against external suppliers. Number of machine hours, direct labour hours and material dollars were used as overhead allocation rates. By restricting the overhead rates to the aforementioned volume based activities, several problems eventuated. The Industrial Engineering department used pre established standard hours for direct labour runtime. Using standard hours produced costing discrepancies, especially because no emphasis was placed on direct materials, overhead and period overhead costs. This was an insufficient method to compare actual and standard percentages.

A Rose for Emily, by William Faulkner, tells the story of Miss Emily Grierson and her mysterious, isolated life. Although hard to identify, the narrator at some points does and does not include themselves in the information they are sharing with the readers. Faulkner achieves this by revealing details about her, not about what happens to her in life, towards the end of the story. Emily went through many tragic events throughout her life, but why she acts a certain remains a secret. An example of when the narrator wants to make the readers feel sympathy towards Emily is when her father s death comes up. The narrator reveals this at the beginning, so her following actions do not seem bizarre. Once her father dies, she insists that he is not dead and does not want them to take his body away from her. The narrator says, We did not say she was crazy then. We believed she had to do that (Faulkner 153). The readers interpret that the narrator experiences affection for Emily and admires her, as her behaviours never come off as peculiar. Faulkner uses the narrator to provide outside observations to the readers. If the story had a different point of view, for example, Emily s point of view, the readers would not be receiving the information in a way that would help understand her situation. The narrator provides foreshadowing, We did not say she was crazy then (Faulkner 153). The word then indicates that the citizens did not see her as crazy before; but once they discover more information they realize that something is definitely not right. In conclusion, the narrator tells the story out of order to make the readers sympathetic towards Miss Emily so they have the ability to connect with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As soon as one man realized that it was useful for a single individual to have provisions for two, equality disappeared, property came into existence, labor became necessary demonstrates that men will subjugate and deprive others in order to act in self interest (74). Once the strong came to understand the pleasure of accumulating more than is necessary for survival, they thought of nothing but the subjugation and enslavement of their neighbors, like those ravenous wolves that on having once tasted human flesh, reject all other food and desire to devour only men (78). Because force is always illegitimate, property maintained through force is always illegitimate as well. The illegitimacy of force is demonstrated by Rousseau s stinging condemnation of the sultan who rules through force. Rousseau explains that the uprising that ends in the strangulation or the dethronement of the sultan is as lawful an act as those by which he disposed of the lives and goods of his subjects the day before. Force alone maintained him, force alone brings him down (90). Property can only be seized through force, which is always illegitimate, regardless of the current proprietor s illegitimate claim to the land. In both Marx s depiction of society and Rousseau s, humans have developed through a succession of stages to act in self interest, oppressing other humans for the sake of material gain. They agree that property is a human construction created by the strong to solidify social status and sustained through illegitimate legal and economic systems. For both philosophers, illegitimate property leads to labor becoming deeply dehumanizing. The craving to own illegitimate property comes from human greed, appetites, and socialization. • 23. Perfectionism And Procrastination Procrastination is a common form of self regulatory failure with substantive connections where the tendency is to put off tasks. (Steel, Farrari, 2013) Perfectionism is when one sets very high expectations often in an overly critical manner (Frost, Marten, Lahart, Rosenblate,1990). There s two types of perfectionism, adaptive and maladaptive where adaptive components are beneficial to the situational and maladaptive components will be detrimental to the individual. For example, De Proft and colleagues had one group of Belgian professionals perform extra weight training during the season. Compared to a control group of colleagues who did no extra training, the players improved their kicking power and leg strength. Reilly (1990)[2] showed that the stronger players outlasted the weaker players in terms of a regular place in the team, and had reduced injury risks. He recommends that leg strength in particular is developed, especially in the quadriceps and hamstrings, to help stabilise the knee joint, which is the most frequently injured joint in football. These exercises demand a high force of contraction in response to a rapid loading of lengthening muscles. For this reason, they should be more accurately called reversible action or rebound exercises. The training effort increases the force production in the muscles, but the movements are performed at faster speeds than weight training exercises. Thus rebound exercises are more specific to the sprinting and jumping movements in football. These exercises should be done in 3 5 sets of 8 repetitions for each leg, with at least one minute s rest between sets. The quality and speed of the movement is the priority. The other training element that is required for improving sprinting speed is sprinting itself. This should be done with maximum efforts over 30 60m. Again, at least one minute s rest between runs should be allowed so that quality can be maintained. Remember, with this kind of training the aim is to develop the maximum speed; endurance should not become a factor. Sprinting done uphill, with weighted jackets, or towing weights is also useful because it adds resistance to the sprint movement, placing greater load on the muscles in the most specific manner. Paper 1; Oroonoko by Aphra Behn and The Rape of the Lock by Alexander Pope The relationship between gender and power dynamics is relevant to the understanding of literature through the ages. However, the widespread problematic belief that women are simply the passive, powerless victims of male power is oversimplified and outdated. Power relations, as theorized by Foucault in The History of Sexuality are far more complex; the dynamic is ever changing, from moment to moment and therefore any interpretation of the exchange of power requires a much deeper analysis than what meets the eye. The idea of power determined from and by sexuality can be understood in a comparison of the novel, Oroonoko by Aphra Behn with the satiric poem, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pope describes Belinda who is meant to represent women in the era in the lines: Her lively looks a sprightly mind disclose,/ Quick as her eyes, and unfixed as those: ( The Rape of the Lock , Canto II, p.50). The use of the word sprightly refers to her being gay, vivacious, somewhat ditzy and her being unfixed implies that Belinda, and women in general are fickle and unable to focus on any one thing. Overall, Pope generalizes women as superficial, sprightly and attention seeking. This creates some debate as to whether these women are powerful in being significant enough to be represented in the first place or powerless in having their essence being snatched away by Pope. Additionally, while the poem attempts the critique the values associated with femininity such as vanity, shallowness, self obsession, and beauty, in order to do so it lends these qualities power to be the central theme of the poem, in a sense glorifying the very same values he aims to critique. Both texts pivot directly around female sexuality and its implications in a patriarchal culture where women s bodies and their purity are regulated and valued as their true value. What challenges did they face after their emancipation? This is a subject of continued interest. History is rife with records of decades of untold torture and harrowing experiences. African American slaves suffered at the hands of their captors and masters. They were denied all natural rights as human beings and forced to live like animals. A slave was viewed as one third of a person and the property of their owner(s) and treated as objects, mere things. Being pregnant did not spare a slave woman the whip or rod. A hole was dug for her to rest her belly while being whipped. They were also at constant risk of losing members of their families if their owners decided to sell them for profit, punishment, or to pay debts. Slavery indeed was dehumanizing in every sense of the word. The Declaration of Emancipation was monumental, and came with the renewed sense of hope that life after their emancipation would become significantly better. Being free, the former slaves envisaged being able to live with a sense of purpose and pride in a land ripe with a cornucopia of opportunities waiting to be capitalized on. Spirits were high and celebration took place as ideas and fantasies of a rich lifestyle with a good standard of living were being formulated.[1] For some ex slaves, their dreams became somewhat of a reality as their fight for survival during slavery helped them develop the wits needed to succeed in their new found world. Unfortunately, there were many tragic disappointments, as nearly all the slaves that were emancipated were forced to return back to their old masters after leaving the plantations, starving and diseased.[2] Many were not able to survive on their own. This came as a result of both internal and external forces being somewhat trapped by their own helplessness, insecurities, lack of knowledge[3] and still viewed as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is no secret that there is a big demand for coffee with many specialty coffee shops springing up, such as Starbucks, Peet s and Coffee Bean. Oftentimes, the consumer loses sight of where things come from and how they are produced. A key component of production is the producer. The consumer does not pay enough attention to the ethical treatment and wages of the producer. The price of a use value item is not determined by how useful but what the thing does and how frequently it is used (Marx in Desfor Edles and Appelrouth 2012:65, 69). As a material essential s use value grows it becomes more desired Marx believes that it becomes a fetishized commodity. Marx restructured his earlier theory of alienation as fetishism of commodities. Fetishism is similar to alienation; however the premise of consumerism is developed in the way that the consumer loses sight of the labor it takes to create commodities. To the consumer, commodities are magnificent and allow the material item to take control of their lives. This is allowed to happen because the producers of material commodities do not come into contact with one another. Therefore, there is no thought put into how laborious, and time consuming, it was to create the commodity (Marx in Desfor Edles and Appelrouth 2012:68, 73). It is evident that there are many things being fetishized in present day. Specialty coffee has been become increasingly popular since the 1980 s. Although abortions are legal right now, it should be illegal. First off, taking a life should not be a choice. In Arizona, killing a pregnant woman is a crime. The law specifies that the defendant shall not be released until the completion of thirty years if the murdered person was under fifteen years of age or was an unborn child (Fetus Homicide State Laws). This proves the fetus had a life. When he/ she would have been born, he/ she would be equal to a child that is out of the womb. Secondly, the baby feels pain. Giving the child up for adoption will be a choice that the victim made and will help her control her life. Taking away the fetus life will just cause him/ her pain. (40) Plate tectonics theory is the scientific theory that describes the large scale motion of the Earth s lithosphere, which is broken up into tectonic plates. Volcanic landforms are undoubtedly very important in aiding our understanding of plate tectonic theory. However, there is other evidence that must be considered as well. However, although there is a lot of evidence from volcanic landforms that can be used to explain plate tectonics theory, there is other important evidence that cannot be ignored. Fossil evidence is very important for our understanding of plate tectonics theory. Similar animal fossils have been found on the South American and African continents. These fossils suggest that the continents were once joined together. Fossils of an extinct reptile, named a Mesosaurus, have been found in southern Africa and South America. Scientists believe that the only explanation for this fossil being found on these two continents is that they were once joined and have become separated due to plate movements. Plant fossils, such as a fossil of the Glossopteris tree have been found in several countries across the Southern Hemisphere such as India, Australia and even Antarctica. The discovery of these fossils prompted scientists to conclude that these countries must once have been joined in one large land mass. The discovery of such fossils as this in Antarctica gives additional weight to this theory as vegetation cannot survive the harsh Antarctic environment suggesting that if vegetation has been able to grow previously, the positioning of the continent must have been ... Junot Diaz s novel truly does tell the brief story of the wondrous life of Oscar de Léon, our Dominican American protagonist, better known as Oscar Wao. Weighing in at 245 pounds, our hopeless romantic loves comic books, writes science fiction in all of his spare time, and, as described by our homodiegetic narrator Yunior, is a loser with a capital L (Diaz 17). While the title might allude that this is a story solely about Oscar, Diaz also delves deep into the lives of those closest to him. This narrative tells the epic journey of Oscar, as well as his family members, and how their experiences in the United States and Dominican Republic come together full circle at the end of The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, with the help of some postmodern techniques. As an immigrant himself, Diaz is able to use his journey to bring attention to the cultural stereotypes of his characters, but unlike many bildungsroman writings, our character s coming of age story does not provide him with enough spiritual learnings to give him the quintessential happy ending. The overall growth of Oscar only reveals the flaws in his culture, a fatal flaw in his case. Because Oscar does not comply with the Dominican standards, he faces heavy repercussions in his life. The tremor is uncontrollable and is most noticeable when the limb is at rest; when the limb is in use, the tremor disappears. Often times, the tremor only affects the hand or foot on one side of the body, but it can eventually become bilateral. Rigidity is characterized as stiffness and resistance to movement in the limbs. Each supplement he has you try is about $50, so I had to throw away a few very expensive supplements because he doesn t pay attention to all the factors of diabetes. • 41. The Effect of Age, Gender and Social Habits on Taste... Abstract An individual s taste sensitivity is influenced by many aspects such as gender, age and social habits like smoking. To investigate what could have an impact on an individual s taste ability, psychology students conducted an experiment on 595 non diabetic participants. In the experiment, participants were asked to taste 8 different water sugar solutions with different sugar strength, then were asked to state whether the solution had sugar in it or not. As hypothesised, female participants were more able to detect the sugar in the solution than male participants, also, non smokers were able to get a higher hit rate than smokers. These findings suggest that the sense of taste is affected by each individual s gender and whether ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To test the hypothesis that taste sensitivity varies from an individual to another, and to detect the absolute threshold of sugar dissolved in water through the perception of taste, this experiment was conducted. Participants in the experiment tasted water sugar solution with different strength and were asked to state if the liquid they were given had sugar in it or not. To get more accurate results, the participants were not told if all the different liquids had sugar in them or if the sugar amount varies in each solution. As the selectivity theory predicts, when an individual ages, their sense of taste should considerably decrease. Also, I predict that the taste sensitivity in non smokers should be higher than in smokers, as well as higher in females than in males. Method Participants The participants were chosen at random by the researchers who are Massey university psychology students. The researchers were asked to conduct the experiment on two participants who are over the age of 11 and not diabetic. The total of participants was 595, including 326 females and 269 males. The mean age of the participants was 35.63 with female mean age of 36.71 and male mean age of 34.31. The conductors were advised to find smokers for half the participants if possible; so 202 of the participants were smokers and 393 were non smokers. Participants fully understood what was expected of them before they took a part of the experiment. Materials The sense of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, Canada Health Care System has been the subject of controversies compared to the United States Health Care System. Some people may agree with the idea because people should not wait longer for surgeries or examinations, patients have high quality of medical and better services. However, if change the health care system, Canada government cannot intervene to health care system, Canada citizens pay higher medical cost and do not get equality services. One of the most important reasons why health care should not be privatization to citizen is Canada government cannot intervene to health care system. The government do not provide the health care service to the public. The reasons for health care depend on government polices rather than private enterprises. First, health care services will be monopolization to private enterprises. The government do not lead health care system. Many private enterprises compete in price for customer acquisition the first time. However, private enterprises will be price of unity to citizens. For example, International oil prices have reached the lowest for Brexit. Therefore, most ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This category was viewed as a social problem thus causing a change from manualism to oralism. Educating the deaf is much like educating the Native Americans. Society treated the deaf much like immigrants. This treatment later led to sign language becoming accepted as a foreign or second language in many colleges today. Intermarriage with the deaf was discouraged because it was believed to create a separatist race. Once again, the focus of oralism, just like the assimilation of Native Americans, is on unity as a nation and social order through homogeneity within the language and culture.
