This document compares geometry-based Doppler ambiguity resolution methods for squint synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and presents an indirect scheme for estimating Doppler rate in low-contrast scenes. It introduces squint SAR geometry and the effects of incorrect Doppler parameters. It then describes conventional, iterative, and improved Radon transform geometry-based methods for resolving Doppler ambiguity, noting the improved schemes are faster. Finally, it presents a method to indirectly estimate Doppler rate in low-contrast scenes by first estimating it in high-contrast areas and using the inverse relationship between Doppler rate and range.
In the modern age, High-resolution radar images can be achieved by employing SAR technique. It is well
known that SAR can provide several times better image resolution than conventional radars. The exploration for efficient
image denoising methods still remains a valid challenge for researchers. Despite the difficulty of the recently proposed
methods, mostly of the algorithms have not yet attained a pleasing level of applicability; each algorithm has its
assumptions, advantages, and limitations. This paper presents a review of synthetic aperture radar. Behind a brief
introduction in our work we are especially targeting the noise called backscattered noise in SAR terminology which
causes the appearance of speckle Potential future work in the area of air flight navigation, mapping Weather Monitoring
& during natural disaster like earth quake. The SAR having the capability, to make human visibility beyond optical
vision, is also discussed.
SAR is a type of radar which works with antenna and receiver using radio waves which can create two dimension or three dimension of the objects . A synthetic-aperture radar is an imaging radar mounted on a moving platform. SAR gives high resolution data and works 24*7.

A SWITCHED-ANTENNA NADIR-LOOKING INTERFEROMETRIC SAR ALTIMETER FOR TERRAIN-AI...csandit
Conventional terrain-aided navigation (TAN) technique uses an altimeter to locate the position of an aerial vehicle. However, a major problem with a radar altimeter is that its beam (or pulse) footprint on the ground could be large, and therefore the nadir altitude cannot be estimated
accurately. To overcome this difficulty, one may use the nadir-looking synthetic aperture radar (SAR) technique to reduce the along-track beam width, while the cross-track ambiguity is
resolved with the interferometry technique. However, the cross-track resolution is still far from satisfactory, because of the limited aperture size of antennas. Therefore, the usual three-antenna array cannot resolve multiple terrain points in a same range bin, effectively. In this paper, we
propose a technique that can increase the cross-track resolution using a large number of antennas, but in a switched fashion, not raising hardware cost.
This course gives keys to understand the SAR image and specificities: geometry, speckle, penetration capabilities, layovers, multipath, dielectric properties.
Advanced modes: polarimetry, interferomety and POLINSAR are also presented.

Spectral estimator effects on accuracy of speed-over-ground radarIJECEIAES
Spectral estimation is a critical signal processing step in speed-over-ground (SoG) radar. It is argued that, for accurate speed estimation, spectral estimation should use low bias and variance estimator. However, there is no evaluation on spectral estimation techniques in terms of estimating mean Doppler frequency to date. In this paper, we evaluate two common spectral estimation techniques, namely periodogram based on Fourier transformation and the autoregressive (AR) based on burg algorithm. These spectral estimators are evaluated in terms of their bias and variance in estimating a mean frequency. For this purpose, the spectral estimators are evaluated with different Doppler signals that varied in mean frequency and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). Results in this study indicates that the periodogram method performs well in most of the tests while the AR method did not perform as well as these but offered a slight improvement over the periodogram in terms of variance.
Basic Concepts, Explanation, and Application. Fundamental Remote Sensing; Advantage/ disadvantages, Imaging/non Imaging sensors, RAR and SAR, SAR Geometry, Resolutions in the microwave, Geometric Distortions in SAR, Polarization in SAR, Target Interaction, SAR Interferometry
Standard radar detection process requires that the sensor output is compared to a predetermined threshold. The
threshold is selected based on a-priori knowledge available and/or certain assumptions. However, any
knowledge and/or assumptions become in adequate due to the presence of multiple targets with varying signal
return and usually non stationary background. Thus, any predetermined threshold may result in either increased
false alarm rate or increased track loss. Even approaches where the threshold is adaptively varied will not
perform well in situations when the signal return from the target of interest is too low compared to the average
level of the background .Track-before-detect techniques eliminate the need for a detection threshold and provide
detecting and tracking targets with lower signal-to-noise ratios than standard methods. However, although trackbefore-
detect techniques eliminate
the need for detection threshold at sensor's signal processing stage, they often use tuning thresholds at the output
of the filtering stage .This paper presents a computerized simulation model for target detection process.
Moreover, the proposed model method is based on the target motion models, the output of the detection
process can easily be employed for maneuvering target tracking.

Search and Society: Reimagining Information Access for Radical FuturesBhaskar Mitra
The field of Information retrieval (IR) is currently undergoing a transformative shift, at least partly due to the emerging applications of generative AI to information access. In this talk, we will deliberate on the sociotechnical implications of generative AI for information access. We will argue that there is both a critical necessity and an exciting opportunity for the IR community to re-center our research agendas on societal needs while dismantling the artificial separation between the work on fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in IR and the rest of IR research. Instead of adopting a reactionary strategy of trying to mitigate potential social harms from emerging technologies, the community should aim to proactively set the research agenda for the kinds of systems we should build inspired by diverse explicitly stated sociotechnical imaginaries. The sociotechnical imaginaries that underpin the design and development of information access technologies needs to be explicitly articulated, and we need to develop theories of change in context of these diverse perspectives. Our guiding future imaginaries must be informed by other academic fields, such as democratic theory and critical theory, and should be co-developed with social science scholars, legal scholars, civil rights and social justice activists, and artists, among others.

"Impact of front-end architecture on development cost", Viktor TurskyiFwdays
I have heard many times that architecture is not important for the front-end. Also, many times I have seen how developers implement features on the front-end just following the standard rules for a framework and think that this is enough to successfully launch the project, and then the project fails. How to prevent this and what approach to choose? I have launched dozens of complex projects and during the talk we will analyze which approaches have worked for me and which have not.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

1. COMPARISON OF GEOMETRY-BASED DOPPLER AMBIGUITY RESOLVER IN SQUINT SAR & Wenchao Li University of Electronic Science and Technology of China AN INDIRECT DOPPLER RATE ESTIMATION SCHEME OF SAR IN LOW-CONTRAST SCENE
6. Introduction In principle, it is possible to compute Doppler parameter from prior information provided by GPS/INS, but measurement uncertainties on the information will limit the accuracy.
7.
8. Introduction Therefore, Doppler parameter Estimation from echo data is an essential procedure for high quality SAR processing
10. Doppler centroid estimation As azimuth data are sampled by pulse repetition frequency (PRF), there is always Doppler centroid ambiguity, and the bigger the squint angle is, the more serious the doppler ambiguity will be. Doppler centroid is usually expressed in two parts: the baseband Doppler centroid and Doppler ambiguity number .
11.
12. Geometry-based algorithms The relationship between Doppler centroid and range walk slope, Since this method is based on the geometric characteristics of the range compressed data, it is named as a geometry-based Doppler ambiguity resolver. Then Doppler centroid can be computed via estimating the range walk slope.
13.
14. Iterative scheme The slope is seen as a searching variable, and entropy is used to measure the robustness of signal. It utilizes the prior information of platform, and replaces the Radon transform with a simple integration of image intensity over azimuth. Geometry-based algorithms
15. Improved Radon transform scheme This scheme utilizes prior information of platform, convert the data into binary data, and conduct two-step Radon transform, which would make it is sparse and reduce the need to search the whole feature space . Geometry-based algorithms
16. Comparisons It is obviously that they can give the accurate Doppler ambiguity number. While the speed of the iterative scheme and the improved Radon transform scheme is much faster than conventional Radon transform.
20. Estimation Scheme According to the fact that Doppler rate is inversely proportional to range, It indicates that the Doppler rate in low- contrast scene can be estimated indirectly.
21. Estimation Flowchart Doppler rate in high-contrast scene is estimated first using Radon-Wigner transform, and then using the fact that Doppler rate is inversely proportional to range, Doppler rate in low-contrast scene is estimated indirectly.
22. Results High Contrast Scene With Prominent Point Time frequency analysis Radon transform Low Contrast Scene Without Prominent Point Time frequency analysis Radon transform
