Rajiv Nariani presented on ways that librarians at York University Libraries help users understand and keep up with research, including through customized searches of science, technology, and medicine databases; setting up public profiles; and supporting open access publishing. The presentation covered specific databases like PubMed, Web of Science, and Scopus, and how to use their features to track publications by researchers, funding, and more. It also discussed helping graduate students follow new papers and manage citations, as well as engaging faculty on open access publishing and evaluating the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of these approaches.PubDrug.org Brief History
PubDrug was launched in 2006 to provide a freely accessible, copyright-free source of drug information as an alternative to vendor databases. It was developed through a collaboration between the University at Buffalo pharmacy school and health sciences library. Students on pharmacoinformatics rotations helped create drug monographs for the wiki-based site, gaining experience with drug information resources, literature searching, and information technologies. The goals were to create an extensive knowledge base of accurate drug information that could be easily updated and integrated into other informatics applications to benefit health professionals and patients.

An increasing number of scholarly publishers and journals are implementing policies and procedures that require published articles to be accompanied by the underlying research data. These policies are an important part of the shift toward reproducible research and have been shown to influence researchers’ willingness to share research data to varying extents. However journal data availability policies are highly idiosyncratic, vary in strength from encouraging to mandating data sharing, and are often difficult to interpret. This makes it challenging for researchers to comply, editors to introduce and research support staff to assist. This presentation examined why and how more scholarly publishers/journals are introducing data availability policies and explore the differences in journal data sharing policies, referring to examples. It outlined the challenges of current data policies, what is expected of various stakeholders, and reflect on efforts in Australia to engage stakeholders in conversation to improve data policies including 2017 Social Sciences and Health and Medical roundtables. It concluded with an update on international collaborations that are helping to facilitate wider adoption of clear, consistent policies for publishing research data.

Elsevier is collaborating with a rare disease charity Findacure to create an informational portal for patients, researchers, and doctors to help finding new treatments, increase awareness, streamline information exchange and education. Using an integrative approach of automated and manual curation of literature, we constructed a knowledgebase containing an overview of the disease mechanisms, targets, drugs, key opinion leaders, and institutions. To demonstrate the utility of this approach, congenital hyperinsulinism will be discussed.

Adult development theory

This study is predicated on the belief that there does not now exist, nor will there ever exist, any single theory of learning that is broad enough to account for all types of learning yet specific enough to be maximally useful in practical application. Perhaps this dichotomy is the reason for the apparent gap between existing theories of learning and the practice of instructional design. As an alternative to any supposed grand theory of learning—and following the lead of prominent thinkers in the fields of clinical psychology and language teaching—this study proposes a shift toward principles. It presents a principle-based conceptual framework of learning, and recommends use of the framework as a guide for creating domain-specific theories of learning. The purpose of this study was to review theories of learning in the behavioral, cognitive, constructive, human, and social traditions to identify principles of learning local to those theories that might represent specific instances of more universal principles, fundamentally requisite to the facilitation of learning in general. Many of the ideas reviewed have resulted from, or been supported by, direct empirical evidence. Others have been suggested based on observational or practical experience of the theorist. The ideas come from different points in time, are described from a variety of perspectives, and emphasize different aspects and types of learning; yet there are a number of common themes shared among them regarding the means by which learning occurs. It is hypothesized that such themes represent universal and fundamental principles of learning. These principles were the objective of the present study. They have been sought through careful review and analysis of both theoretical and empirical literature by methods of textual research (Clingan, 2008) and constant comparative analysis (Glaser & Strauss, 1967). By way of textual research a methodological lens was defined to identify general themes, and by way of constant comparative analysis these themes were developed further through the analysis and classification of specific instances of those themes in the texts reviewed. Ten such principles were identified: repetition, time, step size, sequence, contrast, significance, feedback, context, engagement, and agency. These ten facilitative principles were then organized in the context of a comprehensive principles-of-learning framework, which includes the four additional principles of potential, target, change, and practice. 'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
