Marketing Strategy and Types of Strategies
Marketing strategy
Marketing strategy is a process that can allow an organization to concentrate its limited resources on
the greatest opportunities to increase sales and achieve a sustainable competitive advantage. A
marketing strategy should be centered around the key concept that customer satisfaction is the main
goal.
Marketing strategy is a method of focusing an organization s energies and resources on a course of
action which can lead to increased sales and dominance of a targeted market niche. A marketing
strategy combines product development, promotion, distribution, pricing, relationship management
and other elements; identifies the firm s marketing goals, and explains how they will be achieved,

The Bell Jar Sylvia Plath
Sylvia Plath Research Paper Title
The Bell Jar place[s] [the] turbulent months[of an adolescent s life] in[to] mature perspective
(Hall, 30). In The Bell Jar, Sylvia Plath uses parallelism, stream of consciousness, the motif of
renewal and rebirth, symbolism of the boundary driven entrapped mentally ill, and auto
biographical details to epitomize the mental downfall of protagonist, Esther Greenwood. Plath also
explores the idea of how grave these timeless and poignant issues can affect a fragile, aspiring
woman during an unforgiving period for women.
Sylvia Plath discretely places many similarities between herself and Greenwood, displaying a sense
of verisimilitude and depicting a true life experience of mental illness in her ... Show more content

The Bell Jar traps Esther stewing in her own sour air (Plath, 185). Esther is and forever will be
an outcast; the bell jar symbolizes the physical separation between her and society. Esther
emotionally cannot cope harmoniously with societal norms (Infobase, 12). Her repulsion of
others causes her to prefer to live a life seclusion. This glass barrier suffocates Esther causing her
own madness to ensue. Jars, specifically the bell jar, are clear. This allows society to peer through
and scrutinize Esther and her every flaw. Esther entrapped herself in a toxic environment which, to
her, seems almost impossible to escape. Once Esther escapes the bell jar, it remains suspended ,
only a few feet above [her] head , contributing an imminent thought of relapse (Plath 215).
Esther undergoes shock therapy in an effort to magically cure her; Esther begins emerging from an
enlightened womb. Esther s renewal parallels that of a newborn infant; this common literary motif
of transforming into the unknown for the better pinpoints Esther during her troubled hours. After a
turbulent period of questionable shock treatments, Esther seems to have entered a cured state
(Smith Bundzten, 35). Esther is, in a sense, reborn again. She is born twice patched, retreaded, and
approved for the road (Plath, 244). Her experiences have allowed to become stronger and gain

Pros And Cons Of The Nuremberg War Trial
Beverley McLachlin, the 2007 Chief Justice of Canada, once said, The most advanced justice
system in the world is a failure if it does not provide justice to the people it is meant to serve.
The Nuremberg War Trial has been considered the most significant as well as the most debatable
event in military law history. To those who support the trial it promises the first effective
recognition of a world law for the punishment of criminals who start wars or conduct inhuman acts
during them. To the opposing critics the trial appears in many aspects a denial of legal ethics
which they regard as the heart of any system of justice under law.
Towards the end of World War II the Allies were counting the days until Hitler s regime would

Most significantly, the German defendants at Nuremberg were being tried for several categories of
offense that had no precedent under international law creating ex post facto charge, meaning that
the defendants were indicted for something that was not a crime until after they had committed it.
At the time that the German officials on trial committed the various atrocities for which they were
charged, no international law specifically banned their actions. The prosecution was therefore able
to construct their charges to maximize the rate of conviction. Most national legal codes, including
the law of the United States, require that a crime must have been illegal at the time the act was
committed in order to charges to be pressed. The major focuses of the prosecution were crimes
against the peace, crimes against humanity, war crimes, organizations, and conspiracy. Of all these,
only war crimes was a clearly recognized category under pre existing international law.
War crimes jurisprudence was based on The Hague and Geneva conventions, and narrowly
governed the treatment of foreign soldiers and civilians during wartime. Technically, the only war
crimes committed by the Germans involved the treatment of Allied prisoners of war and of the
populations of conquered

Working Your Way Back Into The Workplace Environment
Regardless of the amount of time you took off to recuperate after a mental health crisis, you
need to make sure that you take the necessary steps to maintain your well being. Working your
way back to become healthy again is just as, or sometimes more difficult than actually
undergoing the mental health crisis you endured. However, taking the appropriate steps after an
emotionally or psychologically draining event can be overwhelming as you figure out how to
assimilate back into the workplace environment. Seek out help from professionals and stay
connected until you have recovered 100% Gathering enough information from professionals in
the psychiatric and psychological fields will allow you to access the point where you are seeing
improvement in your day to day. Staying connected with the professionals that guide you in
your life is absolutely essential when it comes to making strides to overcome the obstacle you
had faced for so long. Positive thinking It can be helpful to think about future goals and think

Arts In Education Analysis
Student s Education
In Analysis: Arts In Education
Are the arts important in education? For some people the answer would be yes and for others it
would be no. When I say arts I am referring to art, dance, drama, and music. Some people say that
the arts are important and necessary, while others say that it is important not necessary.
Individuals say that important is the same as necessary, but they aren t the same. Important is of
great significance or value, likely to have a profound effect on success. Necessary is defined as
required to be done, mandatory. As you can see they are quite different. While some things that are
necessary can indeed be important, but important things aren t always necessary. I don t believe
that the arts should be mandatory, but I do feel that it is always an option. ... Show more content on

Those students will take away from everyone else s learning and fun. While there are many
statistics pointing to high scoring on tests when individuals are exposed to the arts I believe that the
only reason is because the students want to be there. Arts in education are great, but lets not make it
mandatory.
Art is important because it helps get the creativity flowing. Your imagination grows when you
draw. Pictures help you learn vocabulary words. Have you ever heard that saying that a picture
is worth a million words? Well, when you are little before you can read you used the pictures
from the book to make up your own story. Almost always your story was close or somehow
related to the story. For ADHD kids art would be good for them because it gives their hands
something to do while preoccupying their brains. Some people aren t artistic and that is why they

Argumentative Essay On Halloween Costumes
In recent years, Halloween costumes have created controversy because they touch on the issue of
cultural appropriation. Children are simply not aware of how their costumes can unwittingly offend
certain cultures or ethnic groups, and parents are also often unsure as to which costume ideas
qualify as culturally respectful . In the LA Times opinion editorial, On Halloween, parents have no
choice but to wade into fraught cultural politics, Oppenheimer argues that picking a Halloween
costumeis a challenging task with many grey areas as to what is considered offensive to various
religious or ethnic groups who are often the inspiration behind Halloween costumes. He asserts that
all individuals should take care to avoid culturally appropriating, but that there are also grey areas
in costumechoice where appropriation isn t as clearly defined. In order to illustrate the nuanced
challenge of picking costumes, Oppenheimer utilizes an anecdote to show how societal values
have changed within his lifetime. He shares, When I was 10, I was in love with a musical
theater; if you d forced me to dress up for Halloween, I might have been chosen a character from
Dreamgirls, a play about African Americans (Oppenheimer 3). It is evident that he was not
aware of what was socially acceptable in society being that he was merely 10 years old.
Considering that much time has passed, by reflecting back to his past self, he is able to realize that
dressing this way could have touched many sensitive areas of cultural appropriating a race. As there
are no specific set of standards established in society, individuals follow and adhere to what is
presented in front of them. It is utterly challenging for all individuals to identify what is permitted
in society despite the diversity in ethnic groups and age. While the youths are struggling to find the
perfect balance to avoid cultural appropriating a group, it is also difficult for adults to distinguish
the difference. To advise the individuals in recognizing the difference in regards to the significance
of certain Halloween costumes, Oppenheimer utilizes an appeal to authority with an Yale scholar
and former preschool teacher, Erika Christakis. It is ideal that, ...when it comes to the

Jews are a standout amongst the most stereotyped religious social orders ever, with the media every

Personal Code Of Chivalry

and have the want to help those in need. My definition of chivalry means to have courtesy and
honor. My personal code of chivalry is important because it defines who I am and what I believe
in. I believe in being trustworthy, honest, caring, and inspirational to those who need it. Being
trustworthy is very important to me. It is a very good quality that everyone should possess but not
everyone does. Being trustworthy is how friends and family are able to rely on each other. When
someone is trustworthy, they are considered responsible by most. The definition of trustworthy is
being able to be relied on as honest or trustful. When someone is credible, it means that anything
they say and do can be trusted. Being trustworthy also means that they do the right thing even

Spectacular Favela Book Review
Violence comes in all forms and shapes within the context of Brazil. Brazil has had a long history
of violence due to its colonial history and the contemporary socio economic conditions that have
arisen out of its history. The favelas of Brazil are an example of the extreme violence of all forms
that exist in Brazilian society. Through her book The Spectacular Favela: Violencein Modern Brazil,
Erika Robb Larkins makes a case on how the violence present in the favela of Rocinha have grown
to become spectacles and commodified. These two factors contribute to the continuation of violence
within the favelas community in various but connected ways. Through looking different aspects of

Larkins examines how the varieties of tourisms that exist and the response to the tourism in
order to illustrate how violence is commodified and reinforced. While many scholars that look at
the tourism of the favela theorize that it is the consumption of the spectacle of poverty that is
driving the popularity of the tourism, Larkins argues that it is in fact the commodification of
violence that drives the tourism (112). The main forms of tourism that exist for the favelas
reifies how it is violence rather than just poverty that encourages the popularity of the favela
tours. The two types of tours are adventure tours and solidarity tours based on what is included in
the tour and who it is marketed towards. Adventures tours are markets toward young adults and
backpackers and it has an emphasis on the violence and the drug industry that is seen in the
representations of the favelas (119). For example, one tour that Larkins joined had tourists
taking pictures with AK 47s and being a part of a drug trade (121). For the tourists, these
adventure tours offer them the opportunity to role play as traffickers, at least the images of
traffickers seen in the media (121). Thus, in the case of this tour, violence, or the representation of
violence, is sold to the tourist. Tour guides make it seem as it is dangerous to be on these tours by
saying statements such as the kids that are flying kites are actually sending messages to traffickers
and that to be cautious about taking pictures (pp. 117 and 118). It is this staged sense of danger that
contributes to the commodification of violence and the trafficker s

Benefits Of Working A Four Day Work Week
The idea of only working a four day work week sounds appealing to most people and I don t
blame them for liking the idea. The idea brings upon great benefits like, saving money on
commuting costs, companies will save money on operating expenses, and many more things
that can catch your attention. It all looks great on paper or when you hear it on a television
special showing how people are enjoying life in countries that have adapted this work ideology.
For many of us that do work a full time job, working an eight hour day is tough as it is. When
asked to stay for a an hour , usually you re not going to be as productive or carry a high morale as
you did in the previous dreaded 8 hours of work. It s hard to imagine being able to enjoy doing
that for four consecutive days a week working a ten hour workday. Like many things they seem
great on paper, but only time and results tell the dark truth of a doomed idea. Recession makes
people think about how money is spent and how certain budgets can be managed. The four day
work week in Oakland County which is right outside of Detroit, MI was a plan in reaction to
rising gas prices. About 450 employees signed on to this idea to avoid a pay cut, they were also
saving money on not having to commute a day out of the week to work which is an
environmental benefit also. Oakland was not the only place to try out this idea. 17,000 state
employees in Utah were scheduled to work a trial program which consisted of them only working

This happened close to where I live, my husband was one of many Special Agents who responded

these deviant acts, shooting and killing two people and then himself, I feel that one theory that
explains this behavior is the extension of the structural and anomie theory, which is known as
strain theories. To be more precise, I feel that this behavior is both the second and third type of
strain. The second strain according to Franzese (2009, p. 43), occurs

Receptor Proteins
A cell is the smallest basic functional unit of a living organism. The cell is composed of organelles
that help the cell perform its specialized function. Every cell contains a cell membrane and a
cytoplasm, the material that is within the cell but does not include the organelles. The cell
membrane is a semi permeable structure with 2 layers of phospholipids containing embedded
proteins. The role of this fluid mosaic model is to monitor the exchange of substances, separate the
cytoplasm from the external environment, form a communication between other cells, and act as an
identification that protects the cellfrom unidentifiable substances. Also known as fats, the
phospholipids creates a barrier between the layers because they consist of a nonpolar hydrophobic,

For cell communication, the cell membrane has signaling molecules called glycolipids, lipids
that have a carbohydrate and are bonded by a glycosidic bond. There are different proteins that
belong in the phospholipid bilayer and each of them have a function. Channel proteins are
designed to allow diffusion of molecules through small openings. Carrier proteins have binding
sites and work by targeting specific molecules to allow for passage through gate channels.
Receptor proteins triggers a release of molecules that stimulate cellular responses, for example the
release of hormones through the synaptic cleft. Proteins that use tags to identify cells to the
immune system are known as cell recognition proteins. Proteins also include enzymes and they
perform metabolic reactions in the body. The transport across the membrane allow for particles
with no charge or small ones to pass through, such as carbon dioxide. However, water cannot pass
through easily across and needs the assistance of an aquaporin, a channel protein, to move through
the bilayer. There are two types of transport: passive and active

The main issue that we find in the managing choice of the IOC is the hegemony of power
enforced by the main investors. Some people may rile against the commercialization or
Americanization of the Olympics but figures show that the dollars from the US is critical for
the sustenance of the Olympic movement. Besides TV, the IOC s another major stream of
income is private partnership. ( D.Jones 2012) On the NBC side, it was a very smart move that
took place a while ago during the cold war, when USA used the Olympics to prove the
supremacy over the USSR. It s not only about broadcasting the games in their own country, but
also getting the visibility globally as the main protagonists of the global event. All this income
from the US for the committee is vital to keep the games happening, the big problem now days
is that the structure of the Olympics is entirely based on big companies paying the bills for the
massive costs that have to be covered to organize, manage and built facilities and events for the
games. So from a IOC s managing perspective the choice of keeping happy major investors
makes sense and it wouldn t be so criticized if it was a little less against the Olympic spirit.

The Economic Impact Of The 1893 Chicago World s Fair
The 1893 Chicago World s Fair, more formally known as the Columbian Exposition, was a fair
constructed to celebrate Columbus arrival in the New World. Chicago was known as the White
City, but did not appear as pure and spotless as its name suggested. For instance, there were many
ways one could get killed. Fire took a dozen lives a day...There was diphtheria, typhus, cholera,
influenza. And there was murder. (Larson 12). These unstoppable causes of death was one of the
reasons Chicago s reputation was tarnished. Furthermore, the Panic of 1893 struck and greatly
affected the city of Chicago. The Panic s effects included financial crises , bankruptcy , and high
rates of unemployment and homelessness . (Panic of 1893). Because of the city s economic
depression, the fair would decide whether Chicago s circumstances would improve or deteriorate.
Eventually, the 1893 Chicago s World Fair displayed what America would soon become in an
industrial, military, and economic perspective.

Fossil Fuels And Renewable Energy Essay
Finding energy sources is an issue that polarizes scientists, politicians and citizens alike. The most
critical points of this debate are at fossil fuels and renewable energy. Energy efficiency is arguably
the most dire concern facing the planet, because it significantly impacts all areas of everyday life.
Common ground can be found in this controversy because both parties do agree that humans have a
responsibility to future generations. That responsibility is to preserve the resources of the Earth,
while offering this generation energy that is affordable and accessible.
Many people contend that fossil fuels, while being the most cost effective source of energy, have
detrimental effects on the environment. Others argue that fossil fuels have little negative
environmental impact and that producing alternative energy is too economically prohibitive to be
feasible. In 2010, the Gallup Poll conducted a national poll that found half of the Americans
surveyed favored expanding energy production via fossil fuels even if it harms the environment.
This was the case in nearly every major demographic subgroup, although self identified liberals
remained constant in supporting environmental protection as the higher priority (McDermott).
Of these two types of energy production, fossil fuels like oil, gas, and coal make up about ninety
percent of the world s energy usage. Nuclear power takes up five percent of this equation, with the
remaining renewable energy resources splitting

Imagery Usage in ShakespeareВґs Julius Caesar
What comes to mind when one thinks of Romans ? Power, dominion, or even greatness could
describe these noble people. The Romans were arguably one of the most powerful civilizations in
history, so how could a people of such greatness come to such ruin? Power is a dangerous
privilege for any worldly nation to possess, and when mixed with a scandalous concoction of greed
and corruption, could spell the end of an entire civilization. Julius Caesarshowcases Shakespeare s
own interpretation concerning the demise of Rome s most famous leader. This play spotlights
various examples of imagery to help the audience understand the author s interpretation of this
historical tragedy. Imagery is a kind of figurative language used to help the reader... Show more

It could be that Caesar has become barren, not Calpurnia, which could create problems if Ceasar
were to assume a throne; he would be unable to produce an heir. So what could one see under this
new perspective? Perhaps Julius Caesar s actions were directed to make himself king after all, and
thus making him seem like a more power hungry figure in the story. If Caesar was indeed
seeking the throne as the conspirators claimed, wouldn t it be important to him that he would
have a successor? Perhaps William Shakespeare was trying to convey the image that Caesar is
not the flawless leader he seems to think he is. In this situation, barrenness becomes an important
piece of imagery to help the reader view Julius Caesar in the underlying image possibly
understood by Shakespeare. This perspective on Caesar indeed makes achieving the crown of
Rome seem to be his top ambition, which brings the next imagery device used in the play forward;
a crown.
William Shakespeare uses the device of a royal crown to portray Caesar s quest for ambition
through false humility. In the middle of Act One, it states that Julius Caesar was offered a crown
thrice by Mark Antony and that he put it by thrice, every time gentler than other; and at every
putting by mine honest neighbors shouted. (I, ii, 228 230) This could make Caesar appear to be a
humble man, who feels

Superiority Of The First Amendment
Although a Bill of Rights was not an important factor to the Founding Fathers after the Declaration
of Independence in 1776, it was realized that certain rights must be employed for the citizens of
America. James Madison insisted that the success of the Declaration hinged on the Bill of Rights to
keep American citizens safe from unfair treatment of the Federal Government; in December of 1791
the Bill of Rights was officially added to the Constitution. There were ten amendments added to the
Constitution that provide citizens with unalienable rights, such as the right to bear arms, remain

Watching The Republican Gop Debates
Watching the Republican GOP debates was very interesting, seeing how they are unique
candidates. I chose to watch the Republican debates because I am not familiar with the candidates
as well as I should be. The March 3rd and the March 10th debates enlightened me to their leadership
styles, their plan and their character in general. Let s get the most prominent and most talked about
candidate out of the way, Donald Trump. I should first say that I am not a fan by any means. With
this being said, I tried to watch the debates with an open mind and tried to look solely at his
leadership style. I found Trump to be very defensive, childish, inappropriate, and all over the
place. During the debates he loved to talk about how great he is; mentioning four times about his
endorsements, about his great friends, and his wealth. Needless to say, he was not able to sway
me. I will admit, Trump has extreme confidence. This is a great quality. However, he might just
be too confident. It comes off as arrogant. Confidence is great to a certain degree, but it can also
get you in trouble. He feels he is the best and everyone would listen to him because he is Donald
Trump . He is so egotistical. There was one questionasked about how Trump would order the
military to target families of suspected terrorist after the military testifying the expansive use of
torture is inexcusable and will refuse orders because they are illegal. His response: They won t

Examples Of Skeletons In The Closet
When we overhear a discussion about skeletons in the closet, they may not necessarily be talking
about a collection of bones. Instead, they may be referring to secretive skeletons from their past
hidden deep in the dark closets of their mind. They go out of their way to conceal them, knowing
if divulged they could cause pain and humiliation by embarrassing or destroying an otherwise
unblemished reputation, even ruining lives forever. When we say, I have skeletons in my closet
that s our way of saying, I m not telling you about my past escapades, it might change your
opinion of me, or simply I ll protect my secrets and they can never come back to bite me. Without a

Amazon.com aids customers purchase decisions in a variety of ways. For example, Amazon keeps
track of customer s order history from their database which collects information on the items that
the customer purchase and groups them into convenient categories. The reason for this is to build
a profile on the customer which is then used to market items on the customer s homepage that they

if the customer is buying pans, Amazon will have a column for items that are frequently bought

The user interface design of Amazon s Diamond Search uses click and drag sliders to allow users

The Geographic, Political, and Ethnic Impact European...
There is an ongoing debate on how the current political and economic failures in Africa can be
traced back to the advent of colonialism. There is a great deal of evidence that illustrates the impact
that colonialism and foreign intervention has had a negative effect on the development of present
history of Africa. This essay will attempt to examine the geographic, political and ethnic impact
European colonialismhas played on the development of the African, and how these contributions
have put Africa on its current trajectory.

Several European nations took it upon themselves to assimilate the people of Africa to what the
Europeans considered as civilized. Peter Schraeder put it best in his essay, Political and
Economic Impacts of Colonialism, when he said, Britain s portrayal of its efforts as the whites
man s burden and France s pronouncement of its mission civilisatrice , were offered to justify
European domination over peoples deemed backward, ignorant, uncivilized, barbaric, savage, and
godless heathen. It certainly makes one wonder why a nation would take the role of a
protectorate if it viewed the people they were trying to protect in that light. This may also explain
the why Britain established the institutions and practices they did during colonial rule. One of the
most significant institutions introduced by the colonial powers as a method to civilize the
Africans was the implementation of the nation state system. Pre colonial African was full of
nations and kingdoms, which varied in respect to their polities and general structure. For instance,
some lived in small families or clans, with authority and leadership assigned to the elders, while
others governed under kingdoms that encompassed large areas. In pre colonial Uganda, there were
several kingdoms ranging from the Buganda to the Ankole and even the Toro. However, before the

Teamwork Reflection, Questions and Answers
1 What role did you play in team meetings or discussions (online or face to face)? What ideas or.

When I have to work in a team, I try to reach success with others participants in assigned activities.
I do not take the role of leader or follower. I consider myself just another participator, but always
thinking about doing everything right and clean. I have always had in mind that teamwork are all
those actions and activities that are carried out collectively. In order for there to be an excellent
group work, I think is necessary is that the actions are developed collectively. This means that to
carry out group work, the existence of an entertainer or coordination is not necessary. The collective
performance of an action is sufficient, within the framework of mutual interaction.
I am very careful with facial expressions because I want to create a friendly and harmonious
environment around me. When I ve been around other people, I ve never tried to show faces
expressing inattention, anxiety, anger, mockery, and laziness. Since I want people to take my ideas

In The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas, some of the citizens, the ones who walk away from

Despite living in a utopia (on the surface), the people who leave know that there is nothing they

leave. This departure from Omelas shows that big sacrifice is needed for one s goals to be
reached. No one knows what happens to these people, but they risk their lives anyways in hopes
of redeeming themselves for living happily while the boy suffers. In The Boat, there is again big

the end, the father makes the ultimate sacrifice by presumably jumping to his death in order for

of what is normal and cherished must happen, in order for these ambitions and aspirations to be

Realism Vs Classical Realism
Realism is considered the most leading school of thought in international relations, as realism is
also one of the oldest and most entrenched theories of International Relations (Steans, Pettiford,
Diez El Anis 2013, p. 53). All realist share a perspective that states are unitary rational actors that
are encouraged by the desire for military power and security rather than principles or ethics. Realists
view human nature as self seeking, conflictual and competitive and consider that states are
inherently violent as realismvalues order and does not welcome change. There are several forms of
realism such as, structural, neo and classical, however this essay will focus on classical realism, its
key theorists, its strength and weakness and how my view on international politics has changed
over the course of this unit.
Classical realism is a theory of international relations that was founded in the post world war 2
time that pursues to explain international politics as a result of human nature. Classical realism is
also a state level theory that argues that all states seek power, which is driven by desire to achieve
national interests. Classical realists concentrate on two areas of politics; restrictions imposed by
human self interest such as, egoism and anarchy in the absence of international government
(Donnelly 2013, p. 32). Power is the key concept for realists and they argue that to survive, states

ABSTRACT
The Brassica rapa is a rapid growing plant that has a standard form and a mutant rosette form.
Relative to normal plants, the rosette form is shorter and takes longer to flower. The mode of
inheritance of the rosette gene was tested by crossing two true breeding plants, one of each form.
The F1 generation was then cross pollinated to produce an F2 generation. The phenotypes of each
generation were recorded and a chi square test was performed. The F1 offspring were almost

After a week, the phenotypes of the plants were recorded in Table 2. The strongest plant in each
cell was left in the quad, and the others were removed in order to thin the plants.
Pollinating Flowers The plants were continually monitored and watered when needed. At
approximately two weeks from the day the seeds were planted, several flowers were open on the
plants. The plants were then cross pollinated using a pollinating wand. The pollen from one plant
was transferred to another, using approximately eight flowers. This was done three different days
with one day in between. After the third pollination, the unopened buds were removed. The plants
were kept watered, and the new buds and shoots were removed for the next 14 days.
Harvesting Seeds Once 14 days had passed from the day of the third pollination, the quad was
removed from the watering tray and left to dry for a week. Then, the dry seed pods were removed
and cracked open so that the seeds could be collected.
Germinating Seeds A piece of filter paper was moistened and then placed in a petri dish, and any
excess water was poured off. The harvested seeds were then placed in neat rows on the upper two
thirds of the filter paper. The petri dish was then tilted on end in a water reservoir containing
approximately two centimeters of water. The reservoir and dish were then placed under the

ABSTRACT:
Air pollution is one of the major problems in the world. It is influenced by four major factors, such
as industrialization in the cities, increase in traffic, rapid economic development, and higher level
of energy consumption. The growth of both an industrial and residential area is unplanned in many
developing cities of India, thus, it contributing to the air pollution problems. In urban areas, the

In recent past, air pollutants, responsible for vegetation injury and crop yield losses, are causing

The Labeling Theory In The Criminal Justice System
Labeling theory argues that people tend to identify themselves and behave in ways that reflect how
others label them. The behavior of one individual will influence and is influenced by the audience
s reaction; while at the same time, the audience s reaction will affect one s self perception, and in
turn, influences his behavior (shown as below). According to this theory, an individual s self image
is actually constructed of ideas about what he/she thinks others are thinking about him/her. Human
behavior is the result of meanings created by the social interaction of conversation, both real and
imaginary (Mead, 1934; Macionis, 2012). In other words, according to the labeling theory, if an
individual believes others think he is delinquent, then the chance is, he will regard self as
delinquent as well, and make more delinquent movements. Therefore, the effect of punishment is
negative according to the labeling theory. The individuals who were convicted and sent to the
prison will be labeled as the felony and as the consequence, they will gradually accept this
recognition and see themselves as the criminals who... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Deterrence is the primary justification for punishment. In the practice, this deterrence centric
philosophy serves as the fundamental principle for many criminal justice systems in the U.S., no

hypotheses of the deterrence theory are that crime can be prevented when punishment is more
significant than the perceived benefits, and the punishment should be swift, certain, and severe.
Generally, there are two types of the deterrence, one is general deterrence, which emphasized on the
impact of punishment on the general population; while the other one is specific deterrence, which

Learning Theories And Their Application
The different learning theories and their application in e learning are discussed in this paper. This
paper provides a clear idea of learning and the various learning theories which helps people in the
acquisition of knowledge through their environments; and also the history and the role of
significant people involved in the development of those theories. It also provides the information
about the role of these theories in the process of making e learningmaterials, or in the process of e

INTRODUCTION
Learning, though seems to be an uncomplicated topic, it has a deep subject to go through. Firstly,
what is learning? Learning is simply defined as the process of acquiring, enhancing, or modifying
one s prevailing skills, knowledge, behavior, etc. Perceptional, emotional, and environmental
influences play an active role in the process of learning. The information that is acquired,
processed, and retained during learning is described by Learning Theory. Simply, learning theory
describes how the people learn.
There are three main categories in Learning Theories: Behaviorism, Cognitivism, and
Constructivism.
Behaviorism
Behaviorism is a theory of learning which defines that all behaviors are acquired through the
interaction with the environment. As stated in the writings of John B. Watson, B. F. Skinner, and
others, behavior can be studied through careful observation, irrespective of the internal mental
states. Behaviorists believe

Was Haman Hanged Or Impaled In The Book Of Esther Analysis
Was Haman Hanged or Impaled in the Book of Esther?
As part of the battle between Mordecai (the hero) and Haman (the villain), Haman plans Mordecai s
death, but in the end the instrument of death is turned on Haman himself.
According to the New Revised Standard Version (NRSV), Haman s wife suggested (verse 5:14)
that a gallows fifty cubits [seventy five to eighty feet] high be made ... to have Mordecai hanged on
it.
The Jewish Publication Society of America Version (JPS).
translation offers instead, Let a stake be put up ... to have Mordecai impaled on it. Verse 7:10
details the plot reversal: The King s men either hanged Haman on the gallows (NRSV) or impaled
Haman on the stake (JPS).
Which is it? Was it a gallows or stake? And was Haman hanged or impaled?
King James Version (KJV), the New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) and the New American
Standard (NAS) render the beginning of the verse the same: So, they hanged Haman on the
gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. However, consider the NIV s take on the text:
So, they impaled Haman on the pole he had set up for Mordecai. (and to be fair, the NRSV
contains a note that it should be rendered on a tree by impalement )
Clearly, hanging by the neck until dead and being shoved on a sharpened, wide perimeter stick are
two (2) separate ways of dying.
Where does the discrepancy come from?
There are two (2) questions here, as there always are with matters of translation.
1.The first is what the original Hebrew means.
2.The second is how best to say that in English.
Let s look at the Hebrew to examine the two (2) words in dispute.
Gallows (KJV)/Pole(NIV)
1.The Hebrew word is ets and it is the most often translated in the Bible as tree, piece of wood, or
pole.
2.The only examples of the word being translated as gallows appear in The Book of Esther
Hanged (KJV)/Impaled(NIV)
1.The Hebrew word talah is used here and is the source of complexity in interpreting the image of
death.
2.The word translates most often in the Bible to mean suspend or hang, and there are numerous
examples of people hung on ets throughout the OT: Genesis 40:19, Deuteronomy 21:22, Joshua
8:29 and 10:20, 1 Samuel 31:10, and 2 Samuel

Comparisons Between The Views Of Alexander Hamilton And...
In history, many leaders have argued over their different views. Alexander Hamilton and Thomas
Jefferson have had different views on many different things. For example, Hamilton believed that
the best way to strengthen finances was by using taxes. Although, Jefferson strongly disagreed with
him. Hamilton and Jefferson were different in many ways, such that, Hamilton was a Federalist,
and Jefferson was an Anti Federalist. These differences caused many disagreements between the
two. After the civil war, Hamilton came up with many different ways to strengthen finances and
establish credit for the new nation. One of his proposals was creating a National Bank. Hamilton
believed that the elastic clause justified the idea. Although, Jefferson opposed this by saying that it
is not necessary and proper . In document one it states, The Congress shall have power To make all
Laws which shall be necessary and proper (Document 1). Jefferson believed that opening a National
Bank would lessen the power of the states. This was one of his main concerns. In document three it
states, the Senate would condemn it by the Constitution (Document 3). Jefferson believed that the

In document 4 it states, As far as this decrease might be applicable to distilled spirits, it would
encourage the substitution of cyder and malt liquors, benefit agriculture, and open a new and
productive source of revenue (Document 4). Hamilton acknowledged that drinking was very cheap.
He believed that putting the tax on whiskey would improve not only the attitude of people, but
other drink industries, and agriculture. Jefferson strongly disagreed with Hamilton. Putting a tax on
whiskey would hurt many farmers that grew grain to make it. Jefferson, being from the South,
therefore he saw what would happen if the tax was put into place. He believed that the unfair tax
would break up the nation. This soon resulted in the Whiskey

Admiral Alfred T. Mahan s Doctrine Of The Strategic Airpower
The United States would industrialize, optimism about how Americas fighting ability was
focused on superior weaponry. With the turn of the century, Admiral Alfred T. Mahan s doctrine
of Sea Power emphasizing the use of a more modernized fleet promised swift and total victory.
Then in the 1920 s and the 1930 s General Billy Mitchell of the Army Air Service helped to
develop the doctrine of the Strategic Airpower as a technological means to achieve quick and
total victory. In World War two, in response to the outrageous and tragic and unexpected Japanese
attack on Pearl Harbor and in a crusade against Fascism, Americans waged war on land, sea and
air, to include the ultimate nuclear bombing of urban areas to achieve decisive victory and finally

My Experience Of My Birthdays
Do you ever have an experience that destroys something that you had cherished for so long? There
have been lots of times in my life that I have been confronted with situations that changed the way I
viewed myself and others, there is one distinct time that I remember abruptly changing my
viewpoint, and finally learning some very important messages. On the particular day, my birthday, I
had one of the most confusing, irritating, frustrating, eye opening days of my life. A day I will
remember for as long as I live. Birthdays were an event that I had been associated with excitement
and anticipation in the years prior to my 7th birthday, after that, they were ruined forever.
On this special day, I woke up to breakfast in bed, a family tradition. My mom had asked me
earlier that week what I wanted for my birthday breakfast and I had responded with the same
breakfast that everyone in my family asks for, cinnamon rolls. Skip ahead to the next morning,
having just woken up, being presented with a plate of pancakes... What? I was confused. I thought,
There must be some mistake. I looked around hoping to see another plate with warm gooey rolls of
dough smothered in sugar placed on it. To my dismay, there was not.
Oh. I guess maybe mom didn t hear me when I said I wanted cinnamon rolls, I wondered, but how
could she not have? It s the same breakfast all of us ask for.
This start to my day was not at all what I was expecting, but I convinced myself that it was just an

Is The Concept Of Prokaryotic Valid And Useful Or...
Is the concept of prokaryotes valid and useful or fundamentally flawed? Since the establishment
of the basic concept of classification of organisms by Carl Linnaeus (Encyclopaedia Britannica)
and Charles Darwin s theory of evolution, various ideas and concepts have been suggested. After
being repeatedly reviewed by a number of experts, some of them are accepted and this has
enabled scientists to classify organisms, to recognise the connections between them despite of
different physical appearance and to improve the understanding of evolutionary relationship
between them. However, as time goes by and technology develops, the unknown aspects of
organisms are being discovered and it arises several controversial points regarding the concepts
and the principle of taxonomy. This essay will address one of those controversies, the validity of
the concept of prokaryotes. Humankind needed a guideline in order to comprehend the nature of
organisms. For that reason, scientists began to arrange organisms formally into groups called taxa.
Ernst Mayr defined taxon as a single taxonomic group of any level that is unique and independent
from other groups. (Mayr, 1981) Since then, several diverse hypotheses were suggested and
majority of scientists agreed to classify organisms into two major domains, eukaryotes and
prokaryotes. At that time, the principle of two domains seemed to be fairly reasonable and was
widely accepted amongst scientists. Since then, the same definitions for those two

The Central Dogma Of Molecular Biology
In 1956, Francis Crick first described what he called The central dogma of molecular biology.
This essentially describes the flow of genetic information within cells. It states that DNA is
transcribed into RNA with the help of an RNA polymerase enzyme. The RNA is then translated
into a protein by protein synthesis. One thing that could drastically alter the genetic information
within cells is a process called gene silencing. This process regulates the gene expression of certain
genes and can occur in either transcription or translation. The process has been coined RNA
interference and dsRNA gene silencing (Davidson and McCray Jr. 2011). Since direct evidence
of double stranded RNA s role in gene silencing was found in 1998 by researchers Fire and Mello,
this topic has been the focus of much research in areas such as biomedical research, health care,
and even agriculture. Double stranded RNA has been found to play a crucial role in things such as
pest control, vector borne disease prevention, crop improvement, and in the development of
therapeutics for different diseases through gene silencing. Although much research has been
focused on the effects of gene silencing, there is still much more needing to be done.
Double stranded RNA (dsRNA) consists of two complementary strands similar to those of DNA
found in all cells. DsRNA is an important part of gene function and expression in eukaryotes and is
also found as the genetic material of some viruses. It is known to

Military Training Research Paper
One day while driving to boy scouts with my grandson he asked me Papa, have you ever been
hurt or shot at while you were in the military? Yes answering, I did what was necessary to protect
fellow Americans of the United States. I looked at him as if I could see the small cloud of
questions floating above his head ready to transmit the next question. Interjecting, I said, If you
plan on joining you will find that making difficult decisions can be easy and some may not, and
there is a high chance or get injured or killed. Or to go back: During training, which only a small
percentage of military can complete, we would wear roughly one hundred and fifty pounds of

rushing pain, knowing that it was going to be stiff as wood later. Mesmerized in memories of

Balancing relevance and reliability Accounting information must have both relevance and
reliability but sometime the information is very relevance but not reliability. For example when a
report about cost of building which have proper detail of information but the building was acquire
in 1980. Information require to balance and contrast relevance and reliability when determining
how to account for particular items (Alford et al. 1993). Produce information quickly and
measuring the information more accurate are the benefits if the accounting information contain of
reliability and relevance. The other consideration is about cost and benefit. It can be define as
cost and benefit that result from making a specific decision which have highly subjective process
on many issue. Benefit of accounting information provided for users should exceed the cost of
providing it (weygandt et al. 2002) It can useful to establish precise definition but it also involve a
range of judgment call and wide open to criticism. To understand further about relevance and
reliability this report will explain about timeliness. The balance between flexibility and timeliness
The other relevance aspect is Timeliness. When information for decision making is not available
when needed or it available so long after reported events mean that the information not has value or

Emotional Intelligence and Athletic Performance
According to Salovey and Mayer (1990), understanding emotions involves comprehension of how
basic emotions are blended to form complex emotions, how emotions are affected by events
surrounding experiences, and whether various emotional reactions are likely in given social
settings. Regulating emotions encompasses the control of emotions in oneself and in others. An
individual s emotional intelligenceis an indication of how he or she perceives, understands, and
regulates emotions. In sum, emotional intelligenceis a form of intelligence that involves the ability to
monitor one s own and others feelings and emotions, to discriminate among them and to use this
information to guide one s thinking and actions (Salovery and Mayer, 1990,... Show more content

Research has pointed out the importance for us to develop a clear perspective on the theoretical
development of EQ. Moreover, how this theory may or may not overlap with traditional forms of
intelligence and with psychological skills and strategies as they relate to athletic performance.
In the Lane et al. (2010) study, the researchers have explored the findings of how emotional
intelligence is related to emotions experienced before successful and unsuccessful performances
and how certain emotions are correlated with successful performances and poor performances.
Previous research has shown that emotional intelligence is correlated positively with pleasant
emotions and negatively with unpleasant emotions. Further, Lane et al. (2009c) found emotional
intelligence scores correlated with frequent use of psychological skills. Athletes reporting frequent
use of psychological skills (Thomas et al., 1999) also appear to report high scores on the self report
emotional intelligence scales.
B.Comparison of the purposes posed by the studies
The purpose of the Zizzi et al. (2003) study was to find a relationship between emotional
intelligence and athletic performance in a sample of Division I baseball players. This study
explored the relationships between emotional intelligence and the global measures of baseball
performance in a sample of college baseball players. More specifically, a

Immigrate To Canada
Top Reasons to Immigrate to Canada
Canada has a multicultural society and relies heavily on immigration. The aging population of
Canada makes it imminent for them to open up their gates for immigrants from other countries.
According to a research, it was found that Canadians above the age of 65 years comprise 16.1% of
Canada s total population and compared to this the population of under 15s is considerably low.
This has created a void that must be filled with the help of immigration.
Major problems pertaining to aging population are:
в—ЏHuge burden on the economy
в—ЏLess workers in the workforce
в—ЏMore expenditure on pension and healthcare
в—ЏMore taxes for the current workforce
The aging population of Canada has become a ticking time bomb ... Show more content on

The country also provides a right to education to its Citizens and permanent residents. Thousands of
international students migrate every year to continue their edification in one of the top notch
institutes in Canada, This means that you are not the only one who is thinking of migrating to
Canada for education.
Travel
Canada is also a great travel destination and can provide a great bang for every buck you put into
your travel. The iconic Niagara Falls is one of the most alluring sites to witness. Canada has spots
for people travelling in solitude or in a group.
Vancouver houses the hockey team vancouver canucks and is filled with places that can provide
you an exotic wining and dining experience. The SkyTrain enables travellers to to soak in the
majestic view of Canadian cities from quite a height. Some urban cities even have a bucolic setting
due to the type of architecture. There are other great spots that you can visit like Quebec, Granville
islands and so on.
Ease of Immigration
Just to reiterate my point, Canada needs immigrants and that is why the immigration process
focuses on young and skilled workers. This is quite apposite as skilled workers will be able to
contribute a lot to the economy of Canada. Canada does not just make it easy for you to migrate
but for your family as

The Collapse Of Lehman Brothers Essay
Abstract This paper is about how did Shadow Banking precipitate the financial Crises. Then
discusses the impacts of the crisis on the major financial institutions. Introduction The collapse
of Lehman Brothers, a sprawling global bank, in September 2008 almost brought down the
world s financial system. Considered by many economists to have been the worst financial crisis
since the Great depression of the 1930s. Economist Peter Morici coined the term the The Great
Recession to describe the period. While the causes are still being debated, many ramifications
are clear and include the failure of major corporations, large declines in asset values (some
estimates put the drop in the trillions of dollars range), substantial government intervention across
the globe, and a significant decline in economic activity. Both regulatory and market based
solutions have been proposed or executed to attempt to combat the causes and effects of the
crisis. After peaking in the United States in 2006, the global housing bubble collapse. On the
national level, home prices in the United States have dropped by almost 40% according to the
Case Schiller home price Index from 2006 peak to mid 2009. Securities with risk exposure to
housing market plummeted, causing great damage to financial institutions across the globe. Stock
markets all over the world suffered large drops in 2008 and early 2009 as questions arose regarding
the solvency of major financial institutions and liquidity in the

The State Of Texas Is Not At Its Best Right Now
Public education in the state of Texas is not at its best right now. Students are not being challenged
to think anymore. As the second most populous state of the United States, I believe that Texas
should be at the top of public education not only in the country, but in the world. We should change
how and what teacher are teaching to students. Now days we go to schoolto memorize keywords so
we can graduate and get a diploma. After that, some students that don t go to college don t reuse the
information that was taught to them for four years, so basically the schools wasted resources and
money, and students lost time. I believe we can and should strike for greatness and change the
public educationsystem from head to toe. Learning is a fun activity to do and school should not
just be about going to class and learn how to pass an exam or get good grades in a class.
Learning is about gaining knowledge and applying that knowledge to learn and discover new
things about that topic. The public education system in Texas can and should be improved for and
by everybody in the state of Texas. A great man named Nelson Mandela once said Education is the
most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. Without education we would just be
meat and bones working just for survival, not enjoying life. Education is what brought us from the
stone age to the moon. I believe that we should spend more money on improving the public
education system because students right now will be

Flappers Persuasive Speech
Good Morning Birmingham today we will be getting a little into flappers on this cool fall day.
Flappers are breaking the normal and changing the times no matter what anyone else says. For
those that don t know, flappers by definition are fashionable young women whose only goal is to
enjoy herself and go against what others tend to think is right. They are bringing up their hems
and showing off their legs. The older generation look down upon this saying it s not lady like and
it must stop. But flappers have another idea in mind. They want freedom to do what they want,
from being able to cut their hair short and going out all night. I have a flapperhere with me in the
studio and her name is Linda. How are you Linda? I said.

Liberation In Latin America
Cultures from around the world have evolved to hold unique values and standards, but one common
thread binds them all together liberation. The theme of liberation or freedom manifests itself in
works from all over the world, taking on different aspects to fit the time in which the story takes
place. In Latin America, writers explore the concept of social realism, in which an artist depicts
contemporary life realistically in order to make a political comment on society s current situation.
This stems from a long history of turmoil and unrest in the region, including corrupt leaders and
poor living and working conditions for a majority of the population. Similarly, in Africa, the
colonial takeover and exploitation of small villages led to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

African oppression through leadership began in the late nineteenth Century with the Berlin
Conference (1884 85). During this time, the newly industrialized European powers gathered
together in order to divide Africa up amongst themselves for imperialism. Imperialism is a form of
government in which a mother country maintains governmental control of a nation, meanwhile
extracting the country s natural resources. This practice came about with industrialization since the
growing infrastructure led to a call for more materials. Colonizers would gain the trust of a clan
through trade, religion, and the wealth the Europeans brought with them. After trust was
established they began their tyrannical rule. In Things Fall Apart, the main character, Okonkwo,
documents his clan s take over. He came quietly and peacefully with his religion. We were
amused at his foolishness and allowed him to stay. Now he has won our brothers, and our clan
can no longer act like one (Achebe 152). Once Okonkwo realizes his clan s grave mistake in
taking the missionaries in, he attempts to strike a rebellion, however fails, eventually reverting to
suicide to free himself from the mess the European colonizers placed him and his people (the Igbo)
in. It is in this way that African literature exemplifies the theme of liberation.

In The Bell Jar, Sylvia Plath uses parallelism, stream of consciousness, the motif of renewal and rebirth, symbolism of the boundary driven entrapped mentally ill, and auto biographical details to epitomize the mental downfall of protagonist, Esther Greenwood. Plath also explores the idea of how grave these timeless and poignant issues can affect a fragile, aspiring woman during an unforgiving period for women. Esther is and forever will be an outcast; the bell jar symbolizes the physical separation between her and society. Esther emotionally cannot cope harmoniously with societal norms (Infobase, 12). Her repulsion of others causes her to prefer to live a life seclusion. This glass barrier suffocates Esther causing her own madness to ensue. Jars, specifically the bell jar, are clear. This allows society to peer through and scrutinize Esther and her every flaw. Esther entrapped herself in a toxic environment which, to her, seems almost impossible to escape. Once Esther escapes the bell jar, it remains suspended , only a few feet above [her] head , contributing an imminent thought of relapse (Plath 215). Esther undergoes shock therapy in an effort to magically cure her; Esther begins emerging from an enlightened womb. Esther s renewal parallels that of a newborn infant; this common literary motif of transforming into the unknown for the better pinpoints Esther during her troubled hours. After a turbulent period of questionable shock treatments, Esther seems to have entered a cured state (Smith Bundzten, 35). Esther is, in a sense, reborn again. The Nuremberg War Trial has been considered the most significant as well as the most debatable event in military law history. To those who support the trial it promises the first effective recognition of a world law for the punishment of criminals who start wars or conduct inhuman acts during them. Most significantly, the German defendants at Nuremberg were being tried for several categories of offense that had no precedent under international law creating ex post facto charge, meaning that the defendants were indicted for something that was not a crime until after they had committed it. At the time that the German officials on trial committed the various atrocities for which they were charged, no international law specifically banned their actions. The prosecution was therefore able to construct their charges to maximize the rate of conviction. Most national legal codes, including the law of the United States, require that a crime must have been illegal at the time the act was committed in order to charges to be pressed. The major focuses of the prosecution were crimes against the peace, crimes against humanity, war crimes, organizations, and conspiracy. Of all these, only war crimes was a clearly recognized category under pre existing international law. War crimes jurisprudence was based on The Hague and Geneva conventions, and narrowly governed the treatment of foreign soldiers and civilians during wartime. • 8. Argumentative Essay On Halloween Costumes In recent years, Halloween costumes have created controversy because they touch on the issue of cultural appropriation. Children are simply not aware of how their costumes can unwittingly offend certain cultures or ethnic groups, and parents are also often unsure as to which costume ideas qualify as culturally respectful . In the LA Times opinion editorial, On Halloween, parents have no choice but to wade into fraught cultural politics, Oppenheimer argues that picking a Halloween costumeis a challenging task with many grey areas as to what is considered offensive to various religious or ethnic groups who are often the inspiration behind Halloween costumes. He asserts that all individuals should take care to avoid culturally appropriating, but that there are also grey areas in costumechoice where appropriation isn t as clearly defined. In order to illustrate the nuanced challenge of picking costumes, Oppenheimer utilizes an anecdote to show how societal values have changed within his lifetime. He shares, When I was 10, I was in love with a musical theater; if you d forced me to dress up for Halloween, I might have been chosen a character from Dreamgirls, a play about African Americans (Oppenheimer 3). It is evident that he was not aware of what was socially acceptable in society being that he was merely 10 years old. Considering that much time has passed, by reflecting back to his past self, he is able to realize that dressing this way could have touched many sensitive areas of cultural appropriating a race. As there are no specific set of standards established in society, individuals follow and adhere to what is presented in front of them. It is utterly challenging for all individuals to identify what is permitted in society despite the diversity in ethnic groups and age. While the youths are struggling to find the perfect balance to avoid cultural appropriating a group, it is also difficult for adults to distinguish the difference. To advise the individuals in recognizing the difference in regards to the significance of certain Halloween costumes, Oppenheimer utilizes an appeal to authority with an Yale scholar and former preschool teacher, Erika Christakis. Larkins examines how the varieties of tourisms that exist and the response to the tourism in order to illustrate how violence is commodified and reinforced. While many scholars that look at the tourism of the favela theorize that it is the consumption of the spectacle of poverty that is driving the popularity of the tourism, Larkins argues that it is in fact the commodification of violence that drives the tourism (112). The main forms of tourism that exist for the favelas reifies how it is violence rather than just poverty that encourages the popularity of the favela tours. The two types of tours are adventure tours and solidarity tours based on what is included in the tour and who it is marketed towards. Adventures tours are markets toward young adults and backpackers and it has an emphasis on the violence and the drug industry that is seen in the representations of the favelas (119). For example, one tour that Larkins joined had tourists taking pictures with AK 47s and being a part of a drug trade (121). For the tourists, these adventure tours offer them the opportunity to role play as traffickers, at least the images of traffickers seen in the media (121). Thus, in the case of this tour, violence, or the representation of violence, is sold to the tourist. Tour guides make it seem as it is dangerous to be on these tours by saying statements such as the kids that are flying kites are actually sending messages to traffickers and that to be cautious about taking pictures (pp. 117 and 118). The idea brings upon great benefits like, saving money on commuting costs, companies will save money on operating expenses, and many more things that can catch your attention. It all looks great on paper or when you hear it on a television special showing how people are enjoying life in countries that have adapted this work ideology. For many of us that do work a full time job, working an eight hour day is tough as it is. When asked to stay for a an hour , usually you re not going to be as productive or carry a high morale as you did in the previous dreaded 8 hours of work. It s hard to imagine being able to enjoy doing that for four consecutive days a week working a ten hour workday. Besides TV, the IOC s another major stream of income is private partnership. ( D.Jones 2012) On the NBC side, it was a very smart move that took place a while ago during the cold war, when USA used the Olympics to prove the supremacy over the USSR. • 21. Fossil Fuels And Renewable Energy Essay Finding energy sources is an issue that polarizes scientists, politicians and citizens alike. The most critical points of this debate are at fossil fuels and renewable energy. Energy efficiency is arguably the most dire concern facing the planet, because it significantly impacts all areas of everyday life. Common ground can be found in this controversy because both parties do agree that humans have a responsibility to future generations. That responsibility is to preserve the resources of the Earth, while offering this generation energy that is affordable and accessible. Many people contend that fossil fuels, while being the most cost effective source of energy, have detrimental effects on the environment. Others argue that fossil fuels have little negative environmental impact and that producing alternative energy is too economically prohibitive to be feasible. In 2010, the Gallup Poll conducted a national poll that found half of the Americans surveyed favored expanding energy production via fossil fuels even if it harms the environment. This was the case in nearly every major demographic subgroup, although self identified liberals remained constant in supporting environmental protection as the higher priority (McDermott). Of these two types of energy production, fossil fuels like oil, gas, and coal make up about ninety percent of the world s energy usage. Nuclear power takes up five percent of this equation, with the remaining renewable energy resources splitting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Romans were arguably one of the most powerful civilizations in history, so how could a people of such greatness come to such ruin? Power is a dangerous privilege for any worldly nation to possess, and when mixed with a scandalous concoction of greed and corruption, could spell the end of an entire civilization. It could be that Caesar has become barren, not Calpurnia, which could create problems if Ceasar were to assume a throne; he would be unable to produce an heir. So what could one see under this new perspective? Perhaps Julius Caesar s actions were directed to make himself king after all, and thus making him seem like a more power hungry figure in the story. If Caesar was indeed seeking the throne as the conspirators claimed, wouldn t it be important to him that he would have a successor? Perhaps William Shakespeare was trying to convey the image that Caesar is not the flawless leader he seems to think he is. In this situation, barrenness becomes an important piece of imagery to help the reader view Julius Caesar in the underlying image possibly understood by Shakespeare. This perspective on Caesar indeed makes achieving the crown of Rome seem to be his top ambition, which brings the next imagery device used in the play forward; a crown. William Shakespeare uses the device of a royal crown to portray Caesar s quest for ambition through false humility. In the middle of Act One, it states that Julius Caesar was offered a crown thrice by Mark Antony and that he put it by thrice, every time gentler than other; and at every putting by mine honest neighbors shouted. (I, ii, 228 230) This could make Caesar appear to be a humble man, who feels ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The March 3rd and the March 10th debates enlightened me to their leadership styles, their plan and their character in general. Let s get the most prominent and most talked about candidate out of the way, Donald Trump. I should first say that I am not a fan by any means. With this being said, I tried to watch the debates with an open mind and tried to look solely at his leadership style. I found Trump to be very defensive, childish, inappropriate, and all over the place. During the debates he loved to talk about how great he is; mentioning four times about his endorsements, about his great friends, and his wealth. Needless to say, he was not able to sway me. I will admit, Trump has extreme confidence. This is a great quality. However, he might just be too confident. It comes off as arrogant. Confidence is great to a certain degree, but it can also get you in trouble. He feels he is the best and everyone would listen to him because he is Donald Trump . He is so egotistical. Several European nations took it upon themselves to assimilate the people of Africa to what the Europeans considered as civilized. Peter Schraeder put it best in his essay, Political and Economic Impacts of Colonialism, when he said, Britain s portrayal of its efforts as the whites man s burden and France s pronouncement of its mission civilisatrice , were offered to justify European domination over peoples deemed backward, ignorant, uncivilized, barbaric, savage, and godless heathen. It certainly makes one wonder why a nation would take the role of a protectorate if it viewed the people they were trying to protect in that light. This may also explain the why Britain established the institutions and practices they did during colonial rule. One of the most significant institutions introduced by the colonial powers as a method to civilize the Africans was the implementation of the nation state system. The behavior of one individual will influence and is influenced by the audience s reaction; while at the same time, the audience s reaction will affect one s self perception, and in turn, influences his behavior (shown as below). According to this theory, an individual s self image is actually constructed of ideas about what he/she thinks others are thinking about him/her. Human behavior is the result of meanings created by the social interaction of conversation, both real and imaginary (Mead, 1934; Macionis, 2012). As part of the battle between Mordecai (the hero) and Haman (the villain), Haman plans Mordecai s death, but in the end the instrument of death is turned on Haman himself. According to the New Revised Standard Version (NRSV), Haman s wife suggested (verse 5:14) that a gallows fifty cubits [seventy five to eighty feet] high be made ... to have Mordecai hanged on it. The Jewish Publication Society of America Version (JPS). translation offers instead, Let a stake be put up ... to have Mordecai impaled on it. Verse 7:10 details the plot reversal: The King s men either hanged Haman on the gallows (NRSV) or impaled Haman on the stake (JPS). Which is it? Was it a gallows or stake? And was Haman hanged or impaled? King James Version (KJV), the New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) and the New American Standard (NAS) render the beginning of the verse the same: So, they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. However, consider the NIV s take on the text: So, they impaled Haman on the pole he had set up for Mordecai. (and to be fair, the NRSV contains a note that it should be rendered on a tree by impalement ) Clearly, hanging by the neck until dead and being shoved on a sharpened, wide perimeter stick are two (2) separate ways of dying. Although, Jefferson strongly disagreed with him. Hamilton and Jefferson were different in many ways, such that, Hamilton was a Federalist, and Jefferson was an Anti Federalist. These differences caused many disagreements between the two. After the civil war, Hamilton came up with many different ways to strengthen finances and establish credit for the new nation. One of his proposals was creating a National Bank. Hamilton believed that the elastic clause justified the idea. Although, Jefferson opposed this by saying that it is not necessary and proper . In document one it states, The Congress shall have power To make all Laws which shall be necessary and proper (Document 1). Jefferson believed that opening a National Bank would lessen the power of the states. This was one of his main concerns. In document three it states, the Senate would condemn it by the Constitution (Document 3). Jefferson believed that the Senate... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jefferson strongly disagreed with Hamilton. Putting a tax on whiskey would hurt many farmers that grew grain to make it. • 44. My Experience Of My Birthdays Do you ever have an experience that destroys something that you had cherished for so long? There have been lots of times in my life that I have been confronted with situations that changed the way I viewed myself and others, there is one distinct time that I remember abruptly changing my viewpoint, and finally learning some very important messages. On the particular day, my birthday, I had one of the most confusing, irritating, frustrating, eye opening days of my life. A day I will remember for as long as I live. Birthdays were an event that I had been associated with excitement and anticipation in the years prior to my 7th birthday, after that, they were ruined forever. On this special day, I woke up to breakfast in bed, a family tradition. My mom had asked me earlier that week what I wanted for my birthday breakfast and I had responded with the same breakfast that everyone in my family asks for, cinnamon rolls. Skip ahead to the next morning, having just woken up, being presented with a plate of pancakes... What? I was confused. I thought, There must be some mistake. I looked around hoping to see another plate with warm gooey rolls of dough smothered in sugar placed on it. To my dismay, there was not. Oh. I guess maybe mom didn t hear me when I said I wanted cinnamon rolls, I wondered, but how could she not have? It s the same breakfast all of us ask for. • 45. Is The Concept Of Prokaryotic Valid And Useful Or... Is the concept of prokaryotes valid and useful or fundamentally flawed? Since the establishment of the basic concept of classification of organisms by Carl Linnaeus (Encyclopaedia Britannica) and Charles Darwin s theory of evolution, various ideas and concepts have been suggested. After being repeatedly reviewed by a number of experts, some of them are accepted and this has enabled scientists to classify organisms, to recognise the connections between them despite of different physical appearance and to improve the understanding of evolutionary relationship between them. However, as time goes by and technology develops, the unknown aspects of organisms are being discovered and it arises several controversial points regarding the concepts and the principle of taxonomy. This essay will address one of those controversies, the validity of the concept of prokaryotes. Humankind needed a guideline in order to comprehend the nature of organisms. For that reason, scientists began to arrange organisms formally into groups called taxa. Ernst Mayr defined taxon as a single taxonomic group of any level that is unique and independent from other groups. (Mayr, 1981) Since then, several diverse hypotheses were suggested and majority of scientists agreed to classify organisms into two major domains, eukaryotes and prokaryotes. At that time, the principle of two domains seemed to be fairly reasonable and was widely accepted amongst scientists. Since then, the same definitions for those two ... • 46. The Central Dogma Of Molecular Biology In 1956, Francis Crick first described what he called The central dogma of molecular biology. This essentially describes the flow of genetic information within cells. It states that DNA is transcribed into RNA with the help of an RNA polymerase enzyme. The RNA is then translated into a protein by protein synthesis. One thing that could drastically alter the genetic information within cells is a process called gene silencing. This process regulates the gene expression of certain genes and can occur in either transcription or translation. The process has been coined RNA interference and dsRNA gene silencing (Davidson and McCray Jr. 2011). Since direct evidence of double stranded RNA s role in gene silencing was found in 1998 by researchers Fire and Mello, this topic has been the focus of much research in areas such as biomedical research, health care, and even agriculture. Double stranded RNA has been found to play a crucial role in things such as pest control, vector borne disease prevention, crop improvement, and in the development of therapeutics for different diseases through gene silencing. Although much research has been focused on the effects of gene silencing, there is still much more needing to be done. Double stranded RNA (dsRNA) consists of two complementary strands similar to those of DNA found in all cells. DsRNA is an important part of gene function and expression in eukaryotes and is also found as the genetic material of some viruses. It is known to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(2010) study, the researchers have explored the findings of how emotional intelligence is related to emotions experienced before successful and unsuccessful performances and how certain emotions are correlated with successful performances and poor performances. Previous research has shown that emotional intelligence is correlated positively with pleasant emotions and negatively with unpleasant emotions. Further, Lane et al. (2009c) found emotional intelligence scores correlated with frequent use of psychological skills. Athletes reporting frequent use of psychological skills (Thomas et al., 1999) also appear to report high scores on the self report emotional intelligence scales. Then discusses the impacts of the crisis on the major financial institutions. Introduction The collapse of Lehman Brothers, a sprawling global bank, in September 2008 almost brought down the world s financial system. Considered by many economists to have been the worst financial crisis since the Great depression of the 1930s. Economist Peter Morici coined the term the The Great Recession to describe the period. While the causes are still being debated, many ramifications are clear and include the failure of major corporations, large declines in asset values (some estimates put the drop in the trillions of dollars range), substantial government intervention across the globe, and a significant decline in economic activity. Both regulatory and market based solutions have been proposed or executed to attempt to combat the causes and effects of the crisis. As the second most populous state of the United States, I believe that Texas should be at the top of public education not only in the country, but in the world. We should change how and what teacher are teaching to students. Now days we go to schoolto memorize keywords so we can graduate and get a diploma. After that, some students that don t go to college don t reuse the information that was taught to them for four years, so basically the schools wasted resources and money, and students lost time. I believe we can and should strike for greatness and change the public educationsystem from head to toe. Learning is a fun activity to do and school should not just be about going to class and learn how to pass an exam or get good grades in a class. Learning is about gaining knowledge and applying that knowledge to learn and discover new things about that topic. The public education system in Texas can and should be improved for and by everybody in the state of Texas. A great man named Nelson Mandela once said Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. The theme of liberation or freedom manifests itself in works from all over the world, taking on different aspects to fit the time in which the story takes place. In Latin America, writers explore the concept of social realism, in which an artist depicts contemporary life realistically in order to make a political comment on society s current situation. This stems from a long history of turmoil and unrest in the region, including corrupt leaders and poor living and working conditions for a majority of the population. African oppression through leadership began in the late nineteenth Century with the Berlin Conference (1884 85). During this time, the newly industrialized European powers gathered together in order to divide Africa up amongst themselves for imperialism. Imperialism is a form of government in which a mother country maintains governmental control of a nation, meanwhile extracting the country s natural resources. This practice came about with industrialization since the growing infrastructure led to a call for more materials. Colonizers would gain the trust of a clan through trade, religion, and the wealth the Europeans brought with them. After trust was established they began their tyrannical rule. In Things Fall Apart, the main character, Okonkwo, documents his clan s take over. He came quietly and peacefully with his religion. We were amused at his foolishness and allowed him to stay. Now he has won our brothers, and our clan can no longer act like one (Achebe 152). Once Okonkwo realizes his clan s grave mistake in taking the missionaries in, he attempts to strike a rebellion, however fails, eventually reverting to suicide to free himself from the mess the European colonizers placed him and his people (the Igbo) in. It is in this way that African literature exemplifies the theme of liberation. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
