The Theory And The Psychoanalytic Theory
Although used predominantly to explain the varying characteristics each individual possesses,
personality is also a term often coined to define and explain the reasons behind an individual s
motivations and reactions to certain events, entities and decisions. Defined by Larson Buss, 2005,
personality is the set of psychological traits and mechanisms within the individual that are organised
and relatively enduring, and that influence his or her interaction with, and adaptions to, the
intrapsychic, physical and social environments. As personality encompasses such a wide array of
concepts, there are many competitive theories battling to explain these dynamic ideas. Of these
theories, is the unorthodox Psychoanalytic theory, developed by ... Show more content on

In contrast, the humanistic approach emphasised the conscious awareness of needs, choices and
personal responsibilities of the individual (Lahey, 2009). They believed that the personal worth of the
particular individual, the centrality of human values, and the creative and active nature of human
beings was what defined the person (McLeod, 2007). Basically, the humanistic approach, according to
Abraham Maslow, was that humans are born good and that human nature is compassionate and
positive (Larsen Buss, 2012).
Both the psychoanalytic and humanistic theories differ from one another in multiple ways. One of the
most prominent differences is their view on human nature. As mentioned above, Freud and his
psychoanalytic concept, viewed humans as inherently bad. The id, he defined, operated solely on the
pleasure principle, craving immediate gratification without consideration about moral values and the
harm it could cause (McLeod, 2008). He also believed that the ego and the superego was the minds
way of controlling the id ((Lahey, 2009; Larsen Buss, 2012; McLeod, 2008).
In contrast, humanistic psychologists viewed human nature as fundamentally good. Maslow had a
positive view on men, believing that each had the ability to grow and mature into proper beings, and
make use of their full potential (Boeree, 2000 Larsen Buss, 2012). The main emphasis of the
humanistic approach, was that an individual has free will and this plays an important role in shaping

Analysis Of The Little Matchstick Girl
The Little Matchstick Girl is a short story written by a danish author named Han Christian Andersen
about a small childs death. In this story the child is sent by her father on an extremly cold and snowy
night to sell matchsticks. Throughout the story she ends not being able to sell any any and is afraid to
go home. Anyone reading can easily immerse themselves in this story as the author gives a descriptive
narrative about the events leading up to her death. Readers should take a look at this story and really
look at the overall theme, setting, and language. This story has an over all theme of saddness which is
explained by the situations that take place during the course of the story. In the beginning of the story
the child is sent out in the cold while its snowing. She happens to be out there with her mothers
slippers which are too large for her. While walking along, a slipper is stolen by a boy who wants it for
his own selfish reasons. As the story goes on it explains that she is sent out by her father who appears
to be abusive. The story mentions how her father will land blows for not being able to sell matchsticks
to make money for the family. One can only wonder about her parents, maybe they are physically
unable to go out themselves. Is her father projecting his anger onto her because of his own failures?.
Not succeeding at it she ends up trying to go into survival mode and warm herself with the matches,
fails, and freezes to death. Her death seems as

Jealousy In Shakespeare And William Shakespeare s Othello
Jealousy can cause many things to occur. For example, manipulation, betrayal, and death.
Manipulation, to get them to do things that they know is not good for them for instance, drugs or
alcohol. Betrayal, is getting jealous of their accomplishments. Also death, for being so jealous of a
friend who has accomplished so much that killing is the best solution to get rid of them. In the movie
O a modern version of Othello by William Shakespeare and Julius Caesar also written by William
Shakespeare, Odin and Caesar were manipulated for being the best at what they do. Jealousy could
really get anyone killed. Odin is a star basketball player at Columbine High School, he was well
known and had great accomplishments, when someone is doing well then others tend to get
competitive and jealous. Odin is very brilliant and has a bright future ahead of him. I mean who would
not be jealous? Odin was manipulated by his friends because of how big of a star he was. Jealousy
will lead to betraying, his friends were trying to make him do stuff that he know he would get in
trouble for. As Odin said before he shot himself to death He twisted my head up. He f***ed it up. I ain
t no different than none of ya ll. My mom s ain t no crack head. I wasn t no gang banger. It wasn t
some hood rat drug dealer that tripped me up. It was this white, prep school mother****er standing

Are Electric Cars Environment Friendly?
Author :16042284
Abstract :
This paper caters to the reality, based on facts of carbon emissions, of electric cars doubting the
sustainability factor for the claims of the cars. The paper details what exactly electric cars are, their
manufacturing , mechanism and the carbon pollution emitted by them in the primary stage ,i.e.
Manufacturing. Also, it throws a limelight on the resources used to charge these electric cars and how
adversely it affects the climate if the resources used to charge the cars are non renewable resources,
such as charging cars which derive their electricity from national grid, which in most countries is
produced by coal (a highly polluting and carbon emitting and non renewable source of energy).
Methodology :
The methodology used in this paper is based on the research reports and articles published overtime
on online platforms.
Graphs and figures are represented to get better clarity of the various comparisons made.
Also, the positive and negative impacts of electric cars has been expressed for overall understanding.
Definition :
Electric Cars are vehicles that use electrical potential energy which is then stored in rechargeable
batteries (chemical energy) to propel at least one electric motor, converting it into kinetic energy.

Dave Brubeck Take 5 Analysis Essay
Report Subject: Dave Brubeck Quartet The first piece I will analyze is the first ever performance of
Dave Brubeck s Take Five played by what fans call Dave Brubeck s Classic Quartet in the year 1959
at the Village Gate night club in New York City. The quartet had several different iterations throughout
Brubeck s career, but the Classic quartet is by far the most memorable. The quartet consists of Dave
Brubeck on piano, Paul Desmond on alto sax, Joe Morello on drums, and Gene Wright on double bass.
The performance began with the audience cheering as the band is introduced. Joe Morello kicks off
the song with a solid drum intro with a hard hitting kick drum that quickly draws the audience s
attention. Soon thereafter, Dave Brubeck comes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Next up is Paul Desmond, who comes in with a cool, catchy alto sax groove that really defines the
song and is one of its most prominent aspects. Meanwhile, in the background, we can hear Gene
Wright using a two note walking baseline to give the song a little more rhythm. The song has a fast
catchy tempo and is played in 5/4 time which is a complex time signature to play at, which just goes to
show how uniquely gifted each member of the quartet is. After the songs signature bit, the quartet
transitions into Paul Desmond s improv sax solo. This solo is followed by Brubeck s own solo which
is utterly wild in the speed in which he plays. Even more impressive is his seamless transition from the
solo back into the main section to close off the song. Once Brubeck finishes his solo, the band returns
to play the main section out, and round off a great performance of a legendary song. The audience is
seen standing up and cheering which most likely led to a standing ovation. I think the most impressive
part of this performance was just how seasoned all the band members were with their respective
instruments. Joe Morello stood out the most simply because of how skilled he was alongside of him
being blind, which was just mind boggling to

Non-Cell Autonomous Tumor Supression by p53
Non Cell Autonomous Tumor Suppression by p53
Introduction and significance for the entire manuscript (Guide: approx one quarter page/150 words).
The p53 is a vital tumour suppressor protein in humans which is important for cell cycle regulation.
Ablation of the p53 protein causes the cell to proliferate infinitely that contributes to the development
of tumours. Through the cell autonomous program the cell cycle arrest and apoptosis is caused by the
presence of p53. The aim of the journal is to study cellular senescence program in hepatic stellate cells
that is p53 dependent which is formed by dying hepatocytes which secret factors that influence the
tissue microenvironment, preventing fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer via promoting p53 senescent
in these HSCs. The research objectives explain that fibrosis is limited through the p53 mediated
senescence program by stopping HSC proliferation through cell autonomous canonical senescence
regulators and the non cell autonomous effects of SASP on ECM and immune surveillance. Currently
there is a debate on the role p53 plays in HSCs which influences later stages of liver cancer and the
research exhibits that through non cell autonomous mechanisms, p53 can inhibit cancer by
manipulating the tissue microenvironment.
Key Figure (Guide: approx one half page/400 words).
Figure 5 is the key figure in this journal. Figure 5 justifies the macrophage function and polarization

Deontological and Teleological Ethical Theory
Teleological Ethics = Consequentialist Ethics
Morality of an act is based on the outcome or consequence of the act
Deontological Ethics = Non Consequentialist Ethics
Morality of an act is based in the act itself.
Types of Teleological Ethics 1. Utilitarianism Utilitarian moral theory is classical utilitarianism, 2.
Varieties of ancient Greek virtue ethics Aristotle Ethics is an Example a. The goal of ethics is to
explain how one achieves the good life for human beings.
There are only two basic kinds of prescriptive moral theories: teleological theories, deontological
theories

In early nineteenth century America, many members of the anti slavery movement argued that slavery
was wrong, even though slaveholders and southern society in general, economically benefited from it.
Suppose, also that the slaveholders were also able to condition the slaves to the point where they
actually enjoyed living under slavery. From a teleological perspective, slavery might appear to be an
ideal economic institution. Everybody is happy! A deontologist, however, would argue that even if the
American government conducted a detailed cost/benefit analysis of slavery and decided that it created
more pleasure in society than pain, it would still be wrong. Therefore, deontologists believe that right
and wrong have nothing to do with pleasure, pain, or consequences.
Morality is based on whether acts conflict with moral rules or not, and the motivation behind those
acts. An act is therefore, good if and only if it was performed out of a desire to do one s duty and obey
a rule. In other words, act out of a good will. Hence, slavery is wrong, not because of its negative
consequences, but because it violates an absolute moral rule.
In the Western tradition there have been two approaches to the establishment of deontological
principles: divine command theory and Kantian theory.
DIVINE COMMAND THEORY
Divine Command Theory states that the moral goodness of an act is based on religious authority.
Hence, for

The Constitution Act Of 1982
The Constitution Act of 1982, or more commonly known as, The Charter of Rights and Freedoms,
constitutionally entrenched fundamental civil liberties, which have protected Canadians from both
federal and provincial legislative imposition. Since the Charter s inception, however, Canada s
judiciary has been placed under great criticism and scrutiny due to the fact that the courts were
believed to have been given legislative powers that rivaled both the federal and provincial legislatures.
Through Judicial Review, the Supreme Court of Canada was given the task to interpret the charter
since that wording of the legal document itself was vague enough to warrant interpretation, and hence,
gave critics a reason to believe that supreme court justices have been the power to legislate without
any political or public recourse. Unfortunately, as a result of these criticisms, various public notions,
such as appointed and not duly elected Supreme Court justices with the ability to legislate, became the
main focus in questioning whether the supreme court s institutional functions were legitimate, and in
tandem with the principles of a free and democratic society.
Given, the misconceptions regarding the Canadian judiciary by both critics and the public alike, the
purpose of this research is to investigate the functions, and criticisms surrounding the Canadian
judiciary. The result of this investigation will provide a clear and informative argument that, Canada s
judiciary did not seize

How Does Rap Music Affect Human Behavior
This paper will explore and discuss the effects of rap/hip hop music on the behavior of adolescents in
the Unites States. The issue revolves around the possible negative impact of rap music on young
minds, due to the use of profanity, reference to killing, sexually graphic verses, and inappropriate
videos that are common in such music. The problem is seen to be pervasive, and quite controversial,
receiving attention from researchers, academics, and parents who worry about how such music can
influence teens and impact their safety. Some believe that rap has had a positive influence on teens,
while others believe that it promotes violence (Jackson, 2015). This paper will attempt to explore the
link between music and human behavior in general, and then focus specifically on whether listening to
rap/hip hop can be detrimental for adolescents. Music is a means of communication and leisure that is
consumed by and influences numerous individuals and households. People are exposed to countless
songs and genres on a daily basis through radio, television and streaming media. Originally, music
was just a way to express emotional feelings, have fun, or make a political statement. In current times,
however, music is a major industry, kept fresh with new musicians and recycling of different genres. A
popular genre among teenagers is rap/hip hop music, which is known to contain open references to
drugs, sex and violence. This is particularly concerning since teenagers listen to

Mythology Foundation
Mythology the foundation of the world Cerberus, Griffin, Phoenix, Zeus, and Hera. What do all of
these things have in common? They come from myths in mythology. Mythology (from the Greek
mythos for story of the people, and logos for word or speech, the spoken story of a people) is the study
and interpretation of often sacred tales or fables of a culture known as myths or the collection of such
stories which usually deal with the human condition, good and evil, human origins, life and death, the
afterlife, and the gods. Myths express the beliefs and values about these subjects held by a certain
culture (Mark). The reason that Bryan N Griffin Jr. wrote this article was because he wanted to let

showing how myths and mythology is important to today s.
But lastly of all myths are important to today s world because it is truthful and honest stories that
people believe. So things can make more sense to people. The author declaim, But the reason why
mythology is still important is that it is pure storytelling (Griffin Jr). This helps the article because
then again if myths did not exist then storytelling would not be around possibly making kids and even
some adults not understand certain things in life.
Mythology will always be important to everyone. The reason that is true is because parents still tell
their kids stories such as Paul bunyan and the blue ox. If the stories such as those were not told then
mythology would not be important. Making them last and not even made up. Also if mythology was
not here today would we still have religion? Mythology is the foundation of religion meaning if that
was taking away then religion would not be here today. So yes myths and mythology have an
important part in today s world and how it

Beatty Samuelson Essay
7. Bluffing can be ethical, depending on the circumstances and how it is employed. In fact, Beatty
Samuelson, in Essentials of Business Law, points out the Kantian evasion or plater , which serves as
the basis for deceiving someone in an ethical way. She describes it as a truthful statement that is
nonetheless misleading (36). For instance, Kant s example of a murderer coming to our door asking
for someone who is in our own home and who he wants to kill illustrates an instance when answering
questions fully could lead to terrible consequences (36). In that case, Samuelson argues, telling the
truth and pointing the killer to the victim would be very costly, so it is better to employ Kant s evasion
principle and reply with a truthful, but misleading statement. Immanuel Kant, according to Samuelson,

Although gender discrimination currently receives intermediate Fourteenth Amendment Scrutiny, they
should receive strict scrutiny. As Samuelson points out, like in the case of race, A government action
interfering with a fundamental right receives strict scrutiny and will likely be declared void (127).
Gender discrimination, just like race discrimination, should also be considered an interference with a
fundamental right and, therefore, receive strict scrutiny. The repercussions of the severe problem of
gender discrimination in American society can be seen in the gender pay gap in our country. In fact,
according to the Institute for Women s Policy Research, In 2014, female full time workers made only
79 cents for every dollar earned by men, a gender wage gap of 21 percent. Women, on average, earn
less than men in virtually every single occupation for which there is sufficient earnings data for both
men and women to calculate an earnings ratio. The fact that women are discriminated on the basis of
gender in the workplace and paid less than men is sufficient to argue that gender discrimination should
be treated with the same scrutiny as race

Persuasive Essay On The Right To Privacy
According to Merriam Webster dictionary, privacy is the quality or state of being apart from company
or observation, moreover, it is the freedom from unauthorized intrusion. In 1776, John Adams wrote
that it had been the British right to search houses without justification that sparked the fight for
independence. In other words, John Adams thought that it was an unjustified violation of privacy
which kindled one of history s most noteworthy revolutions. Despite the fact that nowhere in the U. S.
Constitution does it express the right to privacy, today, the debate and controversy surrounding the
right to privacy are debated endlessly. Privacy s definition has never changed, however, its meaning
continues to evolve. Today, acts of terrorism, unjust searches, and mass surveillance influence privacy
s definition and the regulation of collection, access, and use of personal information by private and
public actors. Therefore, it is essential to ensure that the privacy standards serve to guarantee freedom
and autonomy rather than unduly restricting it. Today s debate on privacy is much different than
during the founding of independence while the concern and controversy are comparable.
The concept of privacy innately spawns from many early writings firstly in the writings of Aristotle, in
which he distinctly defines the differences between the public sphere of politics and political activity,
the Polis, and the private or domestic sphere of the family, known as the Oikos. The two

better. CNN has launched two specialty news channels for the American market which would later
close amid competitive pressure: the sports news channel CNNSI shut down in 2002, while business
news channel CNNfn shut down after nine years on the air in December 2004. CNN also once had a
partnership with Sports Illustrated through the sports website CNNSI.com, but sold the domain name
in May 2015. CNNfn s former website now redirects to money.cnn.com, a product of CNN s strategic
partnership with Money magazine. Money and Sports Illustrated were both Time Warner properties
until 2014, when the company s magazine division was spun off into the separate Time Inc. Also back
in 2012 , CNN launched CNN Films which is a motion picture division of CNN. CNN films mainly
produced original feature length documentaries that will examine an array of political, social, and
economic subject matters.
And my final reason of why I want to work at cnn is biggest and arguably the most most popular news
network ever. According to adweekly, driven by live coverage of the year s US presidential election,
2016 was CNN s most watched year in its history.

Organizational Behavior Theory
1 INTRODUCTION There are a few factors that determine an individual s well being as essential as
income. Income is paramount to live a sufficient lifestyle for self and those who are dependent on us.
Income is a stable aspect of job to the workers, organizations and the society in general. Income has
huge role to play in determining the behaviors, attitude and perceptions of individuals in an
organization and this can be a major driver of organization behavior. Using utility theory, in particular
the concepts of marginal utility and marginal rate of substitution the author analyzes how the job
satisfaction and wages of family employees differ from those of regular employees. The objective is to
infer that the family employees have more job satisfaction than regular employees while receiving
lower wages. Income can cause both positive and negative affect work and family balance. The effects
of income has not been widely discussed as one of the major contributor to organizational behavior
topic and instead topics such as monetary incentives and pay for performance schemes have been
documented exhaustively. Finally, some (e.g. Lea Webley, 2006) have argued that the psychology of
money is a visceral one, exhibiting similarities to the effects of other visceral influences on human
behavior such as hunger and thirst and, as Loewenstein (1996) notes, visceral influences are often
underestimated by individuals, partly because people tend to forget how important they were in

Control Of Gene Expression By H Ns
Control of gene expression by H NS
H NS is known as a global regulator which influence the expression of large number of genes in
response to various environmental factors like pH, osmolarity or temperature (Atlung and Ingmer,
1997; Dorman, 2007).Numerous studies can have shown the gene regulatory functions of H NS in
E.coli and Salmonella, acting mainly as a gene silencer (Dorman, 2004; Lucchini et al.,
2006).Transcriptomic studies have revealed that H NS regulates around 1439 genes in S.typhimurium.
In uropathogenic E.coli strain, 536, H NS regulates around 500 genes, including many virulence
factors like cytotoxins, fimbriae and siderophores (Muller et al., 2006).H NS is also responsible for the
silencing of horizontally acquired DNA ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The higher order, rigid, nucleoprotein filament formed by H NS,was found to be receptive to
environmental factors, which are known to influence the gene silencing functions of H NS in vivo
(Amit et al., 2003; Atlung and Ingmer, 1997; Liu et al., 2010; Ono et al., 2005). It was also observed
that salmonella anti silencing protein SsrB could displace H NS from DNA only when H NS
nucleoprotein filament was formed (Walthers et al., 2011). A recent study has shown that H NS
nucleoprotein filament formation is the structural basis for gene silencing by H NS (Lim et al.,
2012a).Using AFM analysis and magnetic tweezer set up,the group showed that only wild type H NS,
but not gene silencing negative H NS mutants, led to the formation of rigid nucleoprotein filaments.
The rigid H NS nucleoprotein filament leads to the formation of an extended DNA conformation (Liu
et al., 2010) and at higher MgCl2 concentrations, results in DNA hairpin formation, implying that
rigid nucleoprotein filament formation and hairpin formation are not mutually exclusive (Lim et al.,
2012a). From the above observations, a model for H NS mediated gene silencing was proposed (Lim
et al., 2012a), based on nucleoprotein filament as the basis for gene silencing (Fig I.11). Here, H NS
nucleates at affinity sites in the gene regulatory region and polymerizes to form nucleoprotein
filament, which is continuous, encompassing extensive segment of DNA. This might

Determining the Safety of Different Genetically Modified Food
Genetically Modified Foods A Genetically modified organism (GMO) describes an organism thats
genetic material has been adjusted in way that would not occur in nature. This technology allows for
the transfer of specifically selected genes from one organism into another, regardless of weither these
genes originate from related species or non related species [1]. Genetically modified (GM) foods are
generally refer to plants in which have been developed using molecular biology techniques for the
purpose of human and animal consumption. The modification of these plants is carried out within a
laboratory and used to enhance desired traits to improve the value of the plant. Traditionally, the
enhancement of desired triats within a plant was done through selective breeding however, this
method was time consuming and its accuracy was unreliable. Genetic modification within a laboratory
setting allows for a more rapid and accurate development of plants in which contain the specific
desired trait [2]. Safety of GM foods Determining the safety of different GM foods cannot be
generalised as different GM foods contain different genes in which are inserted in different ways. For
this reason, the safety of GM foods must be assessed individually. The GM foods in which are
currently available on international markets have all been risk assessed for safety and have shown to
present little to no risk to human health. Likewise, there have been no reported effects on human
health as a result of

Theme Of Revenge In Wuthering Heights
One s emotions of hate have the potential to overthrow one s state of being and may cause harm to
others around them. In Emily Brontë s Wuthering Heights, several characters emotions are overtaken
by revenge thus leading them to suffer in the end. Revenge grows early in the novel. It begins with the
hate that Hindley Earnshaw holds for Heathcliff, an orphan who has been taken in by Hindley s father,
Mr. Earnshaw. Later in the novel, Heathcliff s love of his life, Catherine Earnshaw, marries Edgar
Linton which as one can imagine becomes devastating for Heathcliff. This sense of betrayal causes
Heathcliff to seek revenge on the Lintons and Earnshaws. Ultimately, Heathcliff becomes the
character that is mainly driven by the strong desire for revenge. The novel demonstrates how revenge
seems to be the easiest method for gaining fulfillment, but it time disturbs the characters peace of
mind and becomes the root of their downfall. Hindley Earnshaw is the first character in the novel that
obtains the desire for revenge. Early in the book Mr. Earnshaw takes a trip to Liverpool during the
time Catherine and Hindley were still children. He then returns with Heathcliff who was an orphan
from the streets. As he continues to live in the Earnshaw household, Mr. Earnshaw grows love for
Heathcliff, similar to Catherine who also begins to grow a relationship with him. So, from the very
beginning, he bred bad feeling in the house implies that Mr, Earnshaw s strong favoritism for
Heathcliff becomes a major threat for Hindley (33). This means that Heathcliff may become the new
man of the house which would make Hindley very upset. Mr. Earnshaw s demonstration of love for
Heathcliff causes Hindley to gain jealousy and makes him take his anger out on Heathcliff. He has
been blaming our father (how dared he?) for treating H. too liberally; and swears he will reduce him to
his right place fully indicates that Hindley feels anger towards his father for bringing Heathcliff into
their home (19). It seems that Hindley feels that he is not receiving the attention he deserves from his
own father and instead Heathcliff, who is not even Mr. Earnshaw s biological son, is Mr. Earnshaw s
only priority. This ultimately triggers Hindley

Mobile Station
Base Station
Antennas/Base Station
A Base station or Antenna act as transmitter and receiver of the signals to connect to the mobile
stations. The strength of the network is also affected by the number of mobile station communicating
with the same base station/cell at a given time and the distance from the antennas.
1) For example, the connecting signal between wireless phone and the base station could drop or end
as person calling from that phone drive into a tunnel or walk into a building because the walls of the
building or tunnel blocks the signal to reach to mobile phone . These locations are referred as dead
zones, coverage holes, dead spots or obstructed areas.
2) When many people use a same network at the same time and its capacity is overloaded then the
others trying to connect may not be able to connect and may hear a busy tone
3) A cellular network is a wireless network distributed over land areas called cells, each served by at
least one base station/antenna known as a cell site. In this network each cell uses a different set of
frequency so that no neighbor cell can interrupt other s signal.
4) In a mobile phone network these cells are joined together to provide coverage over large areas, due
to the connectivity of these cells a mobile phone can remain connected to the other while moving from
one place to another. Cellular networks offer a number of features:

Why We Need The Military
We must never forget why we have, and why we need our military. Our armed forces exist solely to
ensure our nation is safe, so that each and every one of us can sleep soundly at night, knowing we
have guardians at the gate, said Allen West,a retired Army lieutenant colonel and a former member of
the House of Representatives. He explained America s need for a strong military perfectly in this
quote. The United States depends on their military to protect them from all different kinds of threats
like cyber warfare or terrorist attacks.
In order to see why an increase in military spending is needed, one must look at the damaged
equipment, the need for new and improved equipment and then look at what it would take to defeat
ISIS.
After the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the amount of damaged equipment was immense. The Army
and the Marine Corps lost about 40 percent of their ground equipment from the wars in Iraq and
Afghanistan. The military still needs to replace some of the damaged equipment from the end of the
Iraq war in 2011. Some of the vehicles got blasted by bombs, others got covered up by desert sand,

fire projectiles six times the speed of sound(Weston Prigg, 2017). Because these railguns only use
electricity, this gets rid of the risks connected with keeping bombs on a ship. Another new weapon the
Navy has been working on, is a laser gun. A laser travels at the speed of light. This would give sailors
better accuracy when they fire instead of guessing how high they have to aim depending on how far
the object is. According to the Navy Times, once in action, the laser weapon only costs about one
dollar per shot (Rathmell,

Rembrandt s Portrait Of Jesus In The Storm
Along the same lines, the title to Rembrandt s portrait, Jesus in the Storm (1633), may reveal
something about itself. Jesus in the Storm, showing no sign that anyone besides Jesus was amidst the
storm, may clue in to a metaphorical storm. Within the narrative, Jesus rebuked the wind and the
raging of the water, but, within the context of Rembrandt s portrait and its title, he merely existed in
the storm. The word storm has two definitions: 1) a violent disturbance of the atmosphere with strong
winds and usually rain, thunder, lightning, or snow ( Storm, n.d., para. 1) and 2) a tumultuous
reaction; an uproar or controversy ( Storm, n.d., para. 2). Without a doubt, Rembrandt and the Bible
noted the first definition of a storm, but they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

in the time before his death. For example, Gabriel Buceslinus (1599 1681), a German art lover,
included Rembrandt in his list of the most distinguished European painters . Nostrae aetatis miraculum
(the miracle of our age) followed Rembrandt s name on this list; the only name on the list of 166 to

Prince Cosimo, the later Cosimo III (1642 1723) visited Amsterdam with hopes of meeting Rembrandt
in 1667. This meeting does appear to have taken place, but it also appears that the meeting was brief.
Cosimo s journal didn t contain information of this meeting with Rembrandt like it did the other artists
he visited, it simply held the words, Reinbrent, pittore famoso (Rembrandt, the famous painter)
(Wetering, 1997, p. 266). This may provide insight into Rembrandt s busy schedule. He may have
been too preoccupied with work for other patrons to take on a meeting or painting for Cosimo. At
least, it seems as though Rembrandt had few intentions for securing more

Similarities Between American Revolution And Russian...
When in Russia, Do As the French Do Each country, society, and culture has a unique history, but how
unique it is, can easily be questioned. France and Russia have different geographic domains, peoples,

economic crisis, incompetent rulers, and enlightened ideas. Born out of the people s restlessness for
change, the French Revolution of 1789 and the Russian Revolution of 1917 were parallel in their
initial spark of revolution. The French and Russian Revolutions were both caused by social political
issues that stemmed from regimes incapable of change and founded on absolute tradition. Revolution

Nicholas was known to be narrow minded and weak willed. He hated politics and was dominated by
his wife, Tsarina Alexandra. Marie Antoinette was not the only queen with a famous and powerful
woman in her family. Alexandra s grandmother was Queen Victoria of England. Alexandra saw herself
as English, not French, and she had no desire to even learn the Russian language. Both Alexandra and
Marie Antoinette were hated because they were outsiders who could not sympathize with their people.
The scandal of Rasputin, the Siberian peasant who wandered into St. Petersburg, declaring himself a
healer and holy man, was seen by Alexandra as her miracle. Her son Alexi had hemophilia and she
eternally blamed herself for his heredity disease. In reality, Rasputin actually was able to stop the
ceaseless bleeding, but their friendship, and rumored affair, severed her relationship with the Russian
people, who knew that Rasputin was not a holy man, but an exploiter. Known for attending parties,
taking drugs, and being quite popular with the Russian ladies, the people knew his true identity.
Alexandra refused to believe anyone who spoke against Rasputin. She not only took his medicinal
advice, but extended his influence to the politics of the country, passing his political advice on to
Nicholas. During World War I, when Nicholas had gone to the Western front, Rasputin was sitting in
on cabinet meetings and even dismissing officials. Rasputin s voice spoke loud, while the Russian
people were not even allowed to speak. In the eyes of the Russian people, the Tsar and Tsarina did not
care about the fate of Russia. Louis XVI and Nicholas II were the last rulers of the countries that could
take no more. Agitation from the educated nobles inspired the people to act together and force the
abdication of Nicholas, thus ending three hundred years of Romanov rule (Reid). Enlightened ideas in

My Life In America As An Undocumented Immigrants Summary
Outlaw: My Life In America As An Undocumented Immigrant by Jose Antonio Vargas from the New
York Times, is a narrative essay that focuses on telling a story of past events. Vargas proposes that
since he grew up in America that this is considered his home. Vargas believed he would be granted
citizenship if he worked harder and achieved more. His motivation of sharing his childhood journey
would be the relief of him coming forward about his legal status to those who were not aware and to
those who he truly cares about but could not risk sharing his story with. Vargas tone and stance attracts
people who are or have already been through the same path and for those that come to America to live
the American Dream like Vargas intended to. Vargas concludes he is trapped in duplicity and being
dishonest about his legal status is destroying his character. Even though, Vargas convinces me about
his difficult journey as an undocumented immigrant, his belief that coming forward with the truth of
his legal status will allow him to regain his values or the trust of those who he has already lied to is
unconvincing because after all those years it has become a part of his selfhood.
Throughout the essay, Vargas references the inner struggle that he had to face day in and day out. The
fear of being uncover, the stress behind who can be trusted and what he was able to do. Vargas worked
towards gaining a career hoping it would have a positive influence in his legalization status. It means

Conbolism In The Symbols Of The Hamburger Mary s
Hamburger Mary s. According to Mrs. Young (2017), the rainbow can be displayed in the form of a
sticker, tattoo, or flags (Young, personal communications, June 26, 2017). There is also a symbol of
the LGBTQ community that is not as commonly known. Per Mrs. Young (2017), there is a yellow
equal symbol with a blue background (Young, personal communications, June 26, 2017). I have seen
this symbol becoming popular as a bumper sticker on automobiles. Mrs. Young (2017) also talked
about the sexual symbols such as two women and two men, as well as the puns. The puns can include
Gaydar and Born this way slogans (Young, personal communications, June 26, 2017). With artifacts
being expressed openly other members of the subculture are aware of the shared subculture of which
they are a part of. When members of the subculture find out about a new member it does not make
them instant friends. According to Mrs. Young (2017), many people that are not a part of the
subculture make the huge misconception that everyone that is in the subculture knows one another.
Furthermore, those that are a part of the subculture make friends the same way as those outside of the
subculture. Just because another person is LGBTQ does not make them instant friends (Young,
personal communications, June 26, 2017). The LGBTQ is an increasingly known subculture. The
members of the subculture not only have their own functions, but they also make an impact in our
Colorado community. I have noticed the impact of the subculture becoming well known and is still on
the rise of recognition.
There are bars, parades, community gatherings, and even restaurants that are available to the public
for those involved in LGBTQ. According to the Hamburger Mary s website (2017), Hamburger Mary

It Is Not Unheard Of To See Workers Protesting Against
It is not unheard of to see workers protesting against the executives of their company; whether it is for

throughout American history, specifically with beginning with the Industrial Revolution, employees

Maugham Canyon Essay
Bingham Canyon was settled in 1848 by the Bingham brothers, Thomas and Sanford, who were
ranchers with no mining experience. It has come along way since the Bingham brothers started mining
in Bingham Canyon. Today the mine is 2¾ miles across at the top and ¾ of a mile deep. You could
stack two Sears Towers (now known as the Willis building), on top of each other and still not reach the
top of the mine. About 30 to 40 million years ago, molten, metal bearing rock deep within the earth s
crust began to push toward the surface and formed Bingham s ore deposit. Volcanoes erupted above
the evolving ore body. This particular ore body contains primarily copper, gold, silver and
molybdenum. It all started when the Bingham brothers came to Utah and claimed the land now known
as Bingham Canyon, or the Kennicott Mine. Later in 1863, soldiers stationed at Fort Douglas in Salt
Lake City explored the canyon and discovered lead ore. Utah s first mining district was created in the
Bingham Canyon area that same year. In 1893, Daniel Jackling, a metallurgical engineer, and Robert
Gemmell, a mining engineer, studied the deposit and recommended developing the ore body through a
revolutionary open pit mining method and processing the ore on a large, industrial scale. ... Show

The War Of The Aesir And The Vanir

Mythology 3rd Hour
April 4th, 2016
The War of the Aesir and the Vanir In Norse mythology, gods and goddesses usually belong to one of
two tribes: the Aesir and the Vanir. Throughout most of the Norse tales, deities from the two tribes get
along fairly easily, and it s hard to pin down firm distinctions between the two groups. But there was a
time when that wasn t the case.
The War of the Gods
The Vanir goddess Freya was always the foremost practitioner of the art of seidr, a form of magic
principally concerned with discerning and altering the course of destiny. Like historical seidr
practitioners, she wandered from town to town plying her craft for hire.
Under the name Heiðr ( Bright ), she eventually came to Asgard, the home of the Aesir. The Aesir
were quite taken by her powers and zealously sought her services. But soon they realized that their
values of honor, kin loyalty, and obedience to the law were being pushed aside by the selfish desires
they sought to fulfill with the witch s magic. Blaming Freya for their own shortcomings, the Aesir
called her Gullveig ( Gold greed ) and attempted to murder her. Three times they tried to burn her, and
three times she was reborn from the ashes.
Because of this, the Aesir and Vanir came to hate and fear one another, and these hostilities erupted
into war. The Aesir fought by the rules of plain combat, with weapons and brute force, while the Vanir
used the subtler means of magic. The war went on for some

  • 2. The Theory And The Psychoanalytic Theory Although used predominantly to explain the varying characteristics each individual possesses, personality is also a term often coined to define and explain the reasons behind an individual s motivations and reactions to certain events, entities and decisions. Defined by Larson Buss, 2005, personality is the set of psychological traits and mechanisms within the individual that are organised and relatively enduring, and that influence his or her interaction with, and adaptions to, the intrapsychic, physical and social environments. As personality encompasses such a wide array of concepts, there are many competitive theories battling to explain these dynamic ideas. Of these theories, is the unorthodox Psychoanalytic theory, developed by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In contrast, the humanistic approach emphasised the conscious awareness of needs, choices and personal responsibilities of the individual (Lahey, 2009). They believed that the personal worth of the particular individual, the centrality of human values, and the creative and active nature of human beings was what defined the person (McLeod, 2007). Basically, the humanistic approach, according to Abraham Maslow, was that humans are born good and that human nature is compassionate and positive (Larsen Buss, 2012). Both the psychoanalytic and humanistic theories differ from one another in multiple ways. One of the most prominent differences is their view on human nature. As mentioned above, Freud and his psychoanalytic concept, viewed humans as inherently bad. The id, he defined, operated solely on the pleasure principle, craving immediate gratification without consideration about moral values and the harm it could cause (McLeod, 2008). He also believed that the ego and the superego was the minds way of controlling the id ((Lahey, 2009; Larsen Buss, 2012; McLeod, 2008). In contrast, humanistic psychologists viewed human nature as fundamentally good. Maslow had a positive view on men, believing that each had the ability to grow and mature into proper beings, and make use of their full potential (Boeree, 2000 Larsen Buss, 2012). The main emphasis of the humanistic approach, was that an individual has free will and this plays an important role in shaping ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Analysis Of The Little Matchstick Girl The Little Matchstick Girl is a short story written by a danish author named Han Christian Andersen about a small childs death. In this story the child is sent by her father on an extremly cold and snowy night to sell matchsticks. Throughout the story she ends not being able to sell any any and is afraid to go home. Anyone reading can easily immerse themselves in this story as the author gives a descriptive narrative about the events leading up to her death. Readers should take a look at this story and really look at the overall theme, setting, and language. This story has an over all theme of saddness which is explained by the situations that take place during the course of the story. In the beginning of the story the child is sent out in the cold while its snowing. She happens to be out there with her mothers slippers which are too large for her. While walking along, a slipper is stolen by a boy who wants it for his own selfish reasons. As the story goes on it explains that she is sent out by her father who appears to be abusive. The story mentions how her father will land blows for not being able to sell matchsticks to make money for the family. One can only wonder about her parents, maybe they are physically unable to go out themselves. Is her father projecting his anger onto her because of his own failures?. Not succeeding at it she ends up trying to go into survival mode and warm herself with the matches, fails, and freezes to death. Her death seems as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Manipulation, to get them to do things that they know is not good for them for instance, drugs or alcohol. Betrayal, is getting jealous of their accomplishments. Also death, for being so jealous of a friend who has accomplished so much that killing is the best solution to get rid of them. In the movie O a modern version of Othello by William Shakespeare and Julius Caesar also written by William Shakespeare, Odin and Caesar were manipulated for being the best at what they do. Jealousy could really get anyone killed. Odin is a star basketball player at Columbine High School, he was well known and had great accomplishments, when someone is doing well then others tend to get competitive and jealous. Odin is very brilliant and has a bright future ahead of him. I mean who would not be jealous? Odin was manipulated by his friends because of how big of a star he was. Jealousy will lead to betraying, his friends were trying to make him do stuff that he know he would get in trouble for. As Odin said before he shot himself to death He twisted my head up. The paper details what exactly electric cars are, their manufacturing , mechanism and the carbon pollution emitted by them in the primary stage ,i.e. Manufacturing. Also, it throws a limelight on the resources used to charge these electric cars and how adversely it affects the climate if the resources used to charge the cars are non renewable resources, such as charging cars which derive their electricity from national grid, which in most countries is produced by coal (a highly polluting and carbon emitting and non renewable source of energy). Methodology : The methodology used in this paper is based on the research reports and articles published overtime on online platforms. Graphs and figures are represented to get better clarity of the various comparisons made. Also, the positive and negative impacts of electric cars has been expressed for overall understanding. • 6. Dave Brubeck Take 5 Analysis Essay Report Subject: Dave Brubeck Quartet The first piece I will analyze is the first ever performance of Dave Brubeck s Take Five played by what fans call Dave Brubeck s Classic Quartet in the year 1959 at the Village Gate night club in New York City. The quartet had several different iterations throughout Brubeck s career, but the Classic quartet is by far the most memorable. The quartet consists of Dave Brubeck on piano, Paul Desmond on alto sax, Joe Morello on drums, and Gene Wright on double bass. The performance began with the audience cheering as the band is introduced. Joe Morello kicks off the song with a solid drum intro with a hard hitting kick drum that quickly draws the audience s attention. Soon thereafter, Dave Brubeck comes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Next up is Paul Desmond, who comes in with a cool, catchy alto sax groove that really defines the song and is one of its most prominent aspects. Meanwhile, in the background, we can hear Gene Wright using a two note walking baseline to give the song a little more rhythm. The song has a fast catchy tempo and is played in 5/4 time which is a complex time signature to play at, which just goes to show how uniquely gifted each member of the quartet is. After the songs signature bit, the quartet transitions into Paul Desmond s improv sax solo. This solo is followed by Brubeck s own solo which is utterly wild in the speed in which he plays. Even more impressive is his seamless transition from the solo back into the main section to close off the song. Once Brubeck finishes his solo, the band returns to play the main section out, and round off a great performance of a legendary song. The audience is seen standing up and cheering which most likely led to a standing ovation. I think the most impressive part of this performance was just how seasoned all the band members were with their respective instruments. Joe Morello stood out the most simply because of how skilled he was alongside of him being blind, which was just mind boggling to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The p53 is a vital tumour suppressor protein in humans which is important for cell cycle regulation. Ablation of the p53 protein causes the cell to proliferate infinitely that contributes to the development of tumours. Through the cell autonomous program the cell cycle arrest and apoptosis is caused by the presence of p53. The aim of the journal is to study cellular senescence program in hepatic stellate cells that is p53 dependent which is formed by dying hepatocytes which secret factors that influence the tissue microenvironment, preventing fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer via promoting p53 senescent in these HSCs. The research objectives explain that fibrosis is limited through the p53 mediated senescence program by stopping HSC proliferation through cell autonomous canonical senescence regulators and the non cell autonomous effects of SASP on ECM and immune surveillance. Currently there is a debate on the role p53 plays in HSCs which influences later stages of liver cancer and the research exhibits that through non cell autonomous mechanisms, p53 can inhibit cancer by manipulating the tissue microenvironment. In early nineteenth century America, many members of the anti slavery movement argued that slavery was wrong, even though slaveholders and southern society in general, economically benefited from it. Suppose, also that the slaveholders were also able to condition the slaves to the point where they actually enjoyed living under slavery. From a teleological perspective, slavery might appear to be an ideal economic institution. Everybody is happy! A deontologist, however, would argue that even if the American government conducted a detailed cost/benefit analysis of slavery and decided that it created more pleasure in society than pain, it would still be wrong. Therefore, deontologists believe that right and wrong have nothing to do with pleasure, pain, or consequences. Morality is based on whether acts conflict with moral rules or not, and the motivation behind those acts. An act is therefore, good if and only if it was performed out of a desire to do one s duty and obey a rule. In other words, act out of a good will. Hence, slavery is wrong, not because of its negative consequences, but because it violates an absolute moral rule. In the Western tradition there have been two approaches to the establishment of deontological principles: divine command theory and Kantian theory. The Constitution Act Of 1982 The Constitution Act of 1982, or more commonly known as, The Charter of Rights and Freedoms, constitutionally entrenched fundamental civil liberties, which have protected Canadians from both federal and provincial legislative imposition. Since the Charter s inception, however, Canada s judiciary has been placed under great criticism and scrutiny due to the fact that the courts were believed to have been given legislative powers that rivaled both the federal and provincial legislatures. Through Judicial Review, the Supreme Court of Canada was given the task to interpret the charter since that wording of the legal document itself was vague enough to warrant interpretation, and hence, gave critics a reason to believe that supreme court justices have been the power to legislate without any political or public recourse. Unfortunately, as a result of these criticisms, various public notions, such as appointed and not duly elected Supreme Court justices with the ability to legislate, became the main focus in questioning whether the supreme court s institutional functions were legitimate, and in tandem with the principles of a free and democratic society. Given, the misconceptions regarding the Canadian judiciary by both critics and the public alike, the purpose of this research is to investigate the functions, and criticisms surrounding the Canadian judiciary. The issue revolves around the possible negative impact of rap music on young minds, due to the use of profanity, reference to killing, sexually graphic verses, and inappropriate videos that are common in such music. The problem is seen to be pervasive, and quite controversial, receiving attention from researchers, academics, and parents who worry about how such music can influence teens and impact their safety. Some believe that rap has had a positive influence on teens, while others believe that it promotes violence (Jackson, 2015). This paper will attempt to explore the link between music and human behavior in general, and then focus specifically on whether listening to rap/hip hop can be detrimental for adolescents. Music is a means of communication and leisure that is consumed by and influences numerous individuals and households. People are exposed to countless songs and genres on a daily basis through radio, television and streaming media. Originally, music was just a way to express emotional feelings, have fun, or make a political statement. In current times, however, music is a major industry, kept fresh with new musicians and recycling of different genres. A popular genre among teenagers is rap/hip hop music, which is known to contain open references to drugs, sex and violence. This is particularly concerning since teenagers listen to ... If the stories such as those were not told then mythology would not be important. Making them last and not even made up. Also if mythology was not here today would we still have religion? In fact, Beatty Samuelson, in Essentials of Business Law, points out the Kantian evasion or plater , which serves as the basis for deceiving someone in an ethical way. She describes it as a truthful statement that is nonetheless misleading (36). For instance, Kant s example of a murderer coming to our door asking for someone who is in our own home and who he wants to kill illustrates an instance when answering questions fully could lead to terrible consequences (36). In that case, Samuelson argues, telling the truth and pointing the killer to the victim would be very costly, so it is better to employ Kant s evasion principle and reply with a truthful, but misleading statement. Although gender discrimination currently receives intermediate Fourteenth Amendment Scrutiny, they should receive strict scrutiny. As Samuelson points out, like in the case of race, A government action interfering with a fundamental right receives strict scrutiny and will likely be declared void (127). Gender discrimination, just like race discrimination, should also be considered an interference with a fundamental right and, therefore, receive strict scrutiny. The repercussions of the severe problem of gender discrimination in American society can be seen in the gender pay gap in our country. In fact, according to the Institute for Women s Policy Research, In 2014, female full time workers made only 79 cents for every dollar earned by men, a gender wage gap of 21 percent. Women, on average, earn less than men in virtually every single occupation for which there is sufficient earnings data for both men and women to calculate an earnings ratio. • 13. Persuasive Essay On The Right To Privacy According to Merriam Webster dictionary, privacy is the quality or state of being apart from company or observation, moreover, it is the freedom from unauthorized intrusion. In 1776, John Adams wrote that it had been the British right to search houses without justification that sparked the fight for independence. In other words, John Adams thought that it was an unjustified violation of privacy which kindled one of history s most noteworthy revolutions. Despite the fact that nowhere in the U. S. Constitution does it express the right to privacy, today, the debate and controversy surrounding the right to privacy are debated endlessly. Privacy s definition has never changed, however, its meaning continues to evolve. Today, acts of terrorism, unjust searches, and mass surveillance influence privacy s definition and the regulation of collection, access, and use of personal information by private and public actors. Therefore, it is essential to ensure that the privacy standards serve to guarantee freedom and autonomy rather than unduly restricting it. Today s debate on privacy is much different than during the founding of independence while the concern and controversy are comparable. The concept of privacy innately spawns from many early writings firstly in the writings of Aristotle, in which he distinctly defines the differences between the public sphere of politics and political activity, the Polis, and the private or domestic sphere of the family, known as the Oikos. The two ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Organizational Behavior Theory 1 INTRODUCTION There are a few factors that determine an individual s well being as essential as income. Income is paramount to live a sufficient lifestyle for self and those who are dependent on us. Income is a stable aspect of job to the workers, organizations and the society in general. Income has huge role to play in determining the behaviors, attitude and perceptions of individuals in an organization and this can be a major driver of organization behavior. Using utility theory, in particular the concepts of marginal utility and marginal rate of substitution the author analyzes how the job satisfaction and wages of family employees differ from those of regular employees. The objective is to infer that the family employees have more job satisfaction than regular employees while receiving lower wages. Income can cause both positive and negative affect work and family balance. The effects of income has not been widely discussed as one of the major contributor to organizational behavior topic and instead topics such as monetary incentives and pay for performance schemes have been documented exhaustively. Finally, some (e.g. Lea Webley, 2006) have argued that the psychology of money is a visceral one, exhibiting similarities to the effects of other visceral influences on human behavior such as hunger and thirst and, as Loewenstein (1996) notes, visceral influences are often underestimated by individuals, partly because people tend to forget how important they were in ... Control Of Gene Expression By H Ns Control of gene expression by H NS H NS is known as a global regulator which influence the expression of large number of genes in response to various environmental factors like pH, osmolarity or temperature (Atlung and Ingmer, 1997; Dorman, 2007).Numerous studies can have shown the gene regulatory functions of H NS in E.coli and Salmonella, acting mainly as a gene silencer (Dorman, 2004; Lucchini et al., 2006).Transcriptomic studies have revealed that H NS regulates around 1439 genes in S.typhimurium. In uropathogenic E.coli strain, 536, H NS regulates around 500 genes, including many virulence factors like cytotoxins, fimbriae and siderophores (Muller et al., 2006).H NS is also responsible for the silencing of horizontally acquired DNA ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The higher order, rigid, nucleoprotein filament formed by H NS,was found to be receptive to environmental factors, which are known to influence the gene silencing functions of H NS in vivo (Amit et al., 2003; Atlung and Ingmer, 1997; Liu et al., 2010; Ono et al., 2005). It was also observed that salmonella anti silencing protein SsrB could displace H NS from DNA only when H NS nucleoprotein filament was formed (Walthers et al., 2011). A recent study has shown that H NS nucleoprotein filament formation is the structural basis for gene silencing by H NS (Lim et al., 2012a).Using AFM analysis and magnetic tweezer set up,the group showed that only wild type H NS, but not gene silencing negative H NS mutants, led to the formation of rigid nucleoprotein filaments. The rigid H NS nucleoprotein filament leads to the formation of an extended DNA conformation (Liu et al., 2010) and at higher MgCl2 concentrations, results in DNA hairpin formation, implying that rigid nucleoprotein filament formation and hairpin formation are not mutually exclusive (Lim et al., 2012a). From the above observations, a model for H NS mediated gene silencing was proposed (Lim et al., 2012a), based on nucleoprotein filament as the basis for gene silencing (Fig I.11). Here, H NS nucleates at affinity sites in the gene regulatory region and polymerizes to form nucleoprotein filament, which is continuous, encompassing extensive segment of DNA. This might ... • 17. Determining the Safety of Different Genetically Modified Food Genetically Modified Foods A Genetically modified organism (GMO) describes an organism thats genetic material has been adjusted in way that would not occur in nature. This technology allows for the transfer of specifically selected genes from one organism into another, regardless of weither these genes originate from related species or non related species [1]. Genetically modified (GM) foods are generally refer to plants in which have been developed using molecular biology techniques for the purpose of human and animal consumption. The modification of these plants is carried out within a laboratory and used to enhance desired traits to improve the value of the plant. Traditionally, the enhancement of desired triats within a plant was done through selective breeding however, this method was time consuming and its accuracy was unreliable. Genetic modification within a laboratory setting allows for a more rapid and accurate development of plants in which contain the specific desired trait [2]. Safety of GM foods Determining the safety of different GM foods cannot be generalised as different GM foods contain different genes in which are inserted in different ways. For this reason, the safety of GM foods must be assessed individually. The GM foods in which are currently available on international markets have all been risk assessed for safety and have shown to present little to no risk to human health. Likewise, there have been no reported effects on human health as a result of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In Emily Brontë s Wuthering Heights, several characters emotions are overtaken by revenge thus leading them to suffer in the end. Revenge grows early in the novel. It begins with the hate that Hindley Earnshaw holds for Heathcliff, an orphan who has been taken in by Hindley s father, Mr. Earnshaw. Later in the novel, Heathcliff s love of his life, Catherine Earnshaw, marries Edgar Linton which as one can imagine becomes devastating for Heathcliff. This sense of betrayal causes Heathcliff to seek revenge on the Lintons and Earnshaws. Ultimately, Heathcliff becomes the character that is mainly driven by the strong desire for revenge. The novel demonstrates how revenge seems to be the easiest method for gaining fulfillment, but it time disturbs the characters peace of mind and becomes the root of their downfall. Hindley Earnshaw is the first character in the novel that obtains the desire for revenge. Early in the book Mr. Earnshaw takes a trip to Liverpool during the time Catherine and Hindley were still children. He then returns with Heathcliff who was an orphan from the streets. As he continues to live in the Earnshaw household, Mr. Earnshaw grows love for Heathcliff, similar to Catherine who also begins to grow a relationship with him. So, from the very beginning, he bred bad feeling in the house implies that Mr, Earnshaw s strong favoritism for Heathcliff becomes a major threat for Hindley (33). This means that Heathcliff may become the new man of the house which would make Hindley very upset. Mr. Earnshaw s demonstration of love for Heathcliff causes Hindley to gain jealousy and makes him take his anger out on Heathcliff. He has been blaming our father (how dared he?) for treating H. too liberally; and swears he will reduce him to his right place fully indicates that Hindley feels anger towards his father for bringing Heathcliff into their home (19). It seems that Hindley feels that he is not receiving the attention he deserves from his own father and instead Heathcliff, who is not even Mr. Earnshaw s biological son, is Mr. Earnshaw s only priority. Our armed forces exist solely to ensure our nation is safe, so that each and every one of us can sleep soundly at night, knowing we have guardians at the gate, said Allen West,a retired Army lieutenant colonel and a former member of the House of Representatives. He explained America s need for a strong military perfectly in this quote. The United States depends on their military to protect them from all different kinds of threats like cyber warfare or terrorist attacks. In order to see why an increase in military spending is needed, one must look at the damaged equipment, the need for new and improved equipment and then look at what it would take to defeat ISIS. After the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the amount of damaged equipment was immense. The Army and the Marine Corps lost about 40 percent of their ground equipment from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Jesus in the Storm, showing no sign that anyone besides Jesus was amidst the storm, may clue in to a metaphorical storm. Within the narrative, Jesus rebuked the wind and the raging of the water, but, within the context of Rembrandt s portrait and its title, he merely existed in the storm. The word storm has two definitions: 1) a violent disturbance of the atmosphere with strong winds and usually rain, thunder, lightning, or snow ( Storm, n.d., para. 1) and 2) a tumultuous reaction; an uproar or controversy ( Storm, n.d., para. 2). My Life In America As An Undocumented Immigrants Summary Outlaw: My Life In America As An Undocumented Immigrant by Jose Antonio Vargas from the New York Times, is a narrative essay that focuses on telling a story of past events. Vargas proposes that since he grew up in America that this is considered his home. Vargas believed he would be granted citizenship if he worked harder and achieved more. His motivation of sharing his childhood journey would be the relief of him coming forward about his legal status to those who were not aware and to those who he truly cares about but could not risk sharing his story with. Vargas tone and stance attracts people who are or have already been through the same path and for those that come to America to live the American Dream like Vargas intended to. Vargas concludes he is trapped in duplicity and being dishonest about his legal status is destroying his character. Even though, Vargas convinces me about his difficult journey as an undocumented immigrant, his belief that coming forward with the truth of his legal status will allow him to regain his values or the trust of those who he has already lied to is unconvincing because after all those years it has become a part of his selfhood. It has come along way since the Bingham brothers started mining in Bingham Canyon. Today the mine is 2¾ miles across at the top and ¾ of a mile deep. You could stack two Sears Towers (now known as the Willis building), on top of each other and still not reach the top of the mine. About 30 to 40 million years ago, molten, metal bearing rock deep within the earth s crust began to push toward the surface and formed Bingham s ore deposit. Volcanoes erupted above the evolving ore body. This particular ore body contains primarily copper, gold, silver and molybdenum. It all started when the Bingham brothers came to Utah and claimed the land now known as Bingham Canyon, or the Kennicott Mine. Later in 1863, soldiers stationed at Fort Douglas in Salt Lake City explored the canyon and discovered lead ore. Utah s first mining district was created in the Bingham Canyon area that same year. But there was a time when that wasn t the case. The War of the Gods The Vanir goddess Freya was always the foremost practitioner of the art of seidr, a form of magic principally concerned with discerning and altering the course of destiny. Like historical seidr practitioners, she wandered from town to town plying her craft for hire. Under the name Heiðr ( Bright ), she eventually came to Asgard, the home of the Aesir. The Aesir were quite taken by her powers and zealously sought her services. But soon they realized that their values of honor, kin loyalty, and obedience to the law were being pushed aside by the selfish desires they sought to fulfill with the witch s magic. Blaming Freya for their own shortcomings, the Aesir called her Gullveig ( Gold greed ) and attempted to murder her. Three times they tried to burn her, and three times she was reborn from the ashes. Because of this, the Aesir and Vanir came to hate and fear one another, and these hostilities erupted into war. The Aesir fought by the rules of plain combat, with weapons and brute force, while the Vanir used the subtler means of magic. The war went on for some ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
