Current And Projected Healthcare Applications Of 3d...
Introduction
Three dimensional (3D) printing, also known as rapid prototyping (RP) and additive manufacturing
(AM), is a transformational technology that is anticipated to revolutionize the healthcare industry.
Current and projected healthcare applications of 3D printing include: customized prosthetics;
personalized surgical implants; drug delivery, pre operative and educational anatomical models; and
tissue and organ engineering. The implications of 3D printing are expected to be considerable and
include benefits such as: improved efficiency and reduced costs; personalized medicine; and increased
collaboration . The implementation of this technology does not come without significant challenges,
however. The healthcare industry is one of the most regulated in the Unites States, hype can contribute
to idealized expectations, biocompatible materials must be identified, and intellectual property may be
difficult to protect as a result of 3D printing. This article reviews current advances in 3D printing and
the current and projected healthcare applications that will improve quality and decrease costs.
Healthcare in the United States
According to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, healthcare spending in the United State
grew 3.6 percent in 2013, totaling $2.9 trillion; and accounting for 17.4 percent of the nation s Gross
Domestic Product . In an effort to combat rising costs, broaden access to healthcare, and improve the

Battle Analysis of San Juan Hill Essay
Battle analysis of San Juan Hill
Introduction
Throughout American history, a number of battles come to hold iconic positions in the shaping of this
great nation: Lexington and Concord, the Battle of Bunker Hill, the Alamo, Gettysburg, Belleau
Wood, Pearl Harbor, Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima and the Battle of the Bulge, just to name a few. When the
Spanish American War of is thought of, the Battle of San Juan Hill undoubtedly comes to mind.
Americans think of the great sacrifices throughout the fight. They think of Teddy Roosevelt charging
up San Juan hill, leading his Rough Riders to a miraculous victory. They remember this all American

fire. The major assault began at 1:00 P.M. The key to the attack on San Juan Hill by a U.S. infantry
partition was the effectual flames of a series of three Gatling (machine) guns that brushed the peak and
forced most of the Spanish protectors to flee as the infantry in some disorder protected the tallness

To the right, in the intervening time, rudiments of a get down cavalry dissection moved alongside
Kettle Hill. Devoid of advantage of weaponry or the Gatling gun, and in the countenance of serious
opponent fire, the get down troopers of two usual military cavalry regiments, the First and the Ninth

Psychological Consequences of Earthquakes
Natural disasters, such as earthquakes, hurricanes and cyclones, floods, and tornadoes are some of the
traumatic experiences that may cause posttraumatic stress disorders. This type of disorders and other
disaster related psychological problems are prevalent after natural disasters. As a result it is important
to analyse those individuals that develop psychological problems especially to prepare and plan
interventions both in the short and long term after disaster (Coşkun, Coşkun, 2000, p: 68).
Earthquakes have quickly become one of the most highlighted natural disasters. Unlike other natural
disasters, earthquakes occur without warning, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

people, and damaged or destroyed more than 100.000 homes and many survivors showed the
symptoms of disorders and post traumatic stress disorders (Chen et al., 2007). Researches showed that
the rates of post traumatic stress disorder, major depression, and minor psychiatric morbidity in the
early stage after the Chi Chi earthquake were 37%, 16%, and 89.9%, respectively (Chen et al., 2001

earthquake survivors within 6 months of the disaster reported that the prevalence rates of post
traumatic stress disorders and major depression were 7.9% and 9.5% respectively (Chou et al., 2005).
The risk factor of post traumatic stress disorder included female sex, lower educational level, and
greater trauma exposure (Lai et al., 2004). In the research Chen et al. found that two year follow up of

also found that the prevalence of psychiatric problems after a severe earthquake in Taiwan was

Literary Elements In Araby
James Joyce s literary work Araby is a well written piece that contains so many different elements of
literature, such as imagery, allusions and the use of symbols. By using these different elements, he is
able to paint a well, drawn out picture for the readers depicting the tripartite psyche that Freud defined
as the Id, Ego and Super Ego. The main character in Araby is a young boy living with his aunt and
uncle who wants to attend the local bazaar which is called Araby in the piece of literature. He is late
going to the bazaar when his uncle comes home late from work with the money he is allowed to use,
fearing he will be late and the bazaar will be closed or nothing left to buy. He finally arrives after all
the trouble of rushing and catching trains to get there to only leave empty handed and disappointed.
This boy in the story represents an idea that is so much bigger than one orphaned boy living with his
drunk uncle trying to impress the girl next door. Expressed in Karen R. Smith s article Ethnic Irony
and the Quest of Reading: Joyce, Erdrich, and Chivalry in the Introductory Literature Classroom she
briefly highlights that Joyce who has an Irish background, easily represents the pinnacle of the
primarily British and American movement of high Modernism. After taking this into consideration and
re reading the story, the readers can easily recognize the relationship the oppressive government and
the oppressive situation that the boy in the story is in and how the

The Importance Of Family Law
To begin with, family law is a dense practice that can result in emotional, psychological, and physical
distress for all parties involved. Depending on the outcome, divorce cases can end in devastating ways
that result in the loss of college and retirement funds and the destruction of family traditions and
values (Wray 1). The traditional litigated process puts a strain on families, especially in cases where
minor children are involved; this strain includes anxiety, negative emotions, and feelings of
helplessness (Wray 1). Though not all family law cases go to court, the adversarial process is taxing
for the parties and professionals. In 1990, Stuart Webb posed the idea that family lawyers can help
their clients without representing them in court (Tesler 9). Instead, this new settlement process was
labeled as Collaborative Practice, in which lawyers, mental health professionals, and financial
professionals worked with clients to reach a resolution that everyone is comfortable with.
Collaborative Practice is a better approach when handling family law cases due to the involvement of
mental health professionals to help clients maintain their mental well being during the difficult time.
Clients are guided to express their emotions and prepare for the after effects, while recognizing the
burden and emotional distress.
Collaborative Practice spread across the United States and across the globe (Wray 1). The approach
was revolutionary because it took off the pressure to litigate

Similarities Between The Last Dog And The Last Dog
You are being deceived; two things can seem similar, but really, they are very different. What you
initially see is not always accurate, this is especially prominent in literature. Though Dark They Were
and Golden Eyed and The Last Dog appear to be similar, because they have similar genes and
characters, they have contrasting themes that are developed in vastly different ways.
The stories seem similar because they are both science fiction, and have main characters that are alike.
Brock and Bittering are extremely different than the people around them. Brock, in The Last Dog ,
lives in a dome, in what is a post apocalyptic Earth, where everyone in the dome is unemotional and
bland, except Brock. This quote from the text shows that the story is science fiction, ...he pulled the
scanner from his outside pouch and checked it hot. Oh, that was what he was feeling. Hot. Both stories
include many classic elements of science fiction, like being set in the future, and new technology and
science. Dark They Were and Golden Eyed shares the same traits. When a character says We re
stranded on Mars... it creates a science fiction story, because we do not currently have the technology
to live on Mars, and it shows the story is in the future. Both stories have similar main characters.
Brock and Bittering are the odd ones out in their peer group, Brock is more human than others,
because he has strong feelings, and longs for adventure. ...his heart was beating so hard... this supports
the fact that Brock is uncommon, because he is getting excited about leaving the dome. Bittering is
different from the people around him because he resists and questions the change that is affecting him
and his community. When Bittering says What is this? We ve got to get away from this. He is talking
about how Mars is slowing changing everything that is organic from Earth into Martian things. The
roses, for example, start normally but after some time on Mars they turn green. Bittering is abnormal
because everyone else from Earth is not worried about the changes they are going through. By sharing
the same gene, and having similar main characters, The Last Dog and Dark They Were and Golden
Eyed are similar, but they are, in fact,

Pistorius s Argument Essay
On February 14, 2013, Reeva Steenkamp was killed by a burst of gunfire through Oscar Pistorius s
bathroom door. He thought his girlfriend to be an intruder in his home. Proven to be innocent, many
people believe that Mr. Pistorious got off a little too easy. As an infant, Mr. Pistorious had his legs
amputated due to being born without fibulas. But never let that keep him from rising above and
beyond. As a disabled Olympic athlete, Oscar Pistorious was a national hero and an international star
for the way that he overcame his disability to compete against able bodied runners as well as disabled
ones. As a disabled man, Oscar feels more vulnerable than the average man in everyday situations.

his home in the early hours of Feb. 14, 2013. He said he mistook her for an intruder, while the

Web Testing Essay
Web testing is a credible method to evaluate the best online promotional and marketing strategies for a
business. This tool can be used to test a wide range of criteria from website copy to sales emails to
search ads.
Well planned web testing produces concrete evidence of a well planned marketing strategy.
Continuously testing different hypotheses will not only yield good results for conversion rates, but
will also give us a better understanding of our customers.
Web Testing
In marketing, website testing is used to study how users react to various changes made on website
pages. Tests are meant to show whether or not conversion rate and revenue can be improved and how
to go about it. Web testing equals careful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, Amazon boosted its profits by moving credit card offers from its home page to the
shopping cart page. Such examples that utilized web testing techniques clearly espouses the idea that
tiny changes could have a big impact. In a managerial level, experiments can help managers to
optimize investment based on the potential improvement suggested by these tests. For instance,
experiments in the Microsoft Company on its Bing search engine showed that every 100 millisecond
difference in performance had a 0.6% impact on revenue. With Bing s yearly revenue surpassing $3
billion, a 100 millisecond speedup is worth $18 million in annual incremental revenue. Results
advocate that investing on a project to improve the Bing s response time can generate billions of
dollars for the company. (Kohavi Thomke, 2017)
A/B testing is extremely goal oriented. Before launching an A/B test, we must first decide on the
outcome we hope to achieve. The goal might sound something like this:
Increase the number of free trial signups
More clicks on a paid advertisement
Increase open rates on a welcome email

forming a hypothesis can be a bit tricky. For example, hypothesizing that switching to a different Call

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Presidential Candidates
The Strengths and Weaknesses of the System of Choosing Presidential Candidates
It seems reasonable to conjecture that the Achilles heel of the modern presidency is one of
recruitment. The long winded delegate nomination process could in theory be replaced by a daylong
direct election of presidential candidates. Instead, tradition dictates that the presidential race is drawn
out quadrennially over the pre primary, primary, Party Convention and campaign seasons. All four
phases influence the outcome of candidate selection and much also depends on campaign finance, the
role of the media and the nominees themselves.
Although the process is considered a complex, drawn out affair in the eyes of ... Show more content

In Caucuses, the power to select delegates, who are sent to nominate presidential candidates at the
National Party Convention, rests with Party activists who meet first at a local, then county and finally
at a state level to make their choices. The caucus system propounds the strength of the Party elite who
have an overriding influence as to who is chosen. As Ragsdale observed (1993, p.95), the system
tended to be dominated and controlled by party bosses, as deals were cut in smoke filled rooms, rather
than by ordinary rank and file members. This was far from democratic, and since the controversy
surrounding Humphrey s nomination for the Democratic Party in 1968, the McGovern Fraser
Commission established reforms which saw the advent of the Media Primary. Since 1972, this
procedure has become the system with gravitas: 77% of the votes cast by Republican delegates in
1988 came from those selected by primaries. These state wide intra party elections mean that any
supporters can vote for a nominee to send to the National Convention and although these elected
delegates still formally select the presidential candidate, it is rarely more than a ratification of the
preferences expressed by ordinary voters. This encouraged a higher level of political participation, as
voters could feel a part of the decision making process. Some primaries, such as Michigan State, saw a

Environmental And Health Hazards Of Burning Coal
2. Environmental And Health Hazards of Burning Coal
Coal is the primary fuel for electricity production in India and its usage is continuously growing to
meet the energy demands of the country. Emissions of greenhouse gases and other pollutants are
growing in India with the increasing demand for electricity. The aspiration for fast economic growth
lead to grow rapid industrialization coupled with accelerated urbanization and mechanization of
agriculture has been responsible for this increasing need of electricity ever since the independence.
The electricity consumption grew from 375.39 (billion kWh) in 2000 to 600.65 (billion kWh) in 2008
at an annual growth rate of 6.67% , while the electric power production grew from 529.12 billion kWh
in 2000 to 835.27 billion kWh at an annual growth rate of 5.78% .
Main gases are emitted from coal fired and lignite based thermal power plants are CO2, NOx, SOx,
and air borne inorganic particles such as fly ash, carbonaceous material (soot), suspended particulate
matter (SPM), and other trace gas species. Thermal power plants, using about 70% of total coal in
India4 (Garg et. al., 2002), are among the Large Point Sources (LPS) having significant contribution
(47% each for CO2 and SO2) in the total LPS emissions in India.
Large difference between electric power production and consumption are due to transmission and
distribution losses. In India, the losses are extremely high and they are varying between 30 to 45%.

James Buchanan Vs. Dred Scott Case
James Buchanan was an unsuccessful president due to his unwillingness to see the national effects of
his decisions on slavery. In his inaugural address, Buchanan signaled his desire to serve as a
peacemaker. At the time of his election to President in 1856 under the Democratic nomination, few
people expected him to have Republicans in the cabinet. Yet he almost had no Democratic
representation. Regardless of the appointees to his cabinet, Buchanan was stubborn and stuck to his
own views, either choosing not to see the effects slavery had on the nation, or simply being clueless to
the repercussions. James Buchanan supported the Dred Scott case in the Supreme Court, was in favor
of the Kansas Nebraska act, and created stronger sectionalism, greatly affecting the political parties.
To begin with, James Buchanan supported the Supreme Court s decision in the case of Dred Scott and
his fight for freedom. Dred Scott was a slave who was taken from where he was initially working in
Missouri, to a new posts in Illinois and what are now some regions in Minnesota, by his owner. After
being brought to these areas, Scott claimed that he was actually a free man, since he now stood on free
territory. Calling attention to the courts, his pleas were recognized and he received a full hearing. After
much debate, the Supreme Court concluded that since the Constitution did not recognize slaves as
citizens of the United States, all slaves were considered property and would not be deemed

My Life Of My Mother
Literacy has always been close to my identity as a person. My mother wanted the best for her children,
and therefore would sing and read to us as soon as we were born. She encouraged out love of words
and books by taking us to the library for reading time and always seemed to find the most amazing
books for us to explore. My mother is very musically gifted, so songs were part of our daily routine.
There are still little songs that pop into my head about daily tasks that she created to help us learn and
make work and learning fun. When I grew a bit older, around the age of four, my mother formed a
group with other women in our neighborhood to form a preschool. They used the Joy School
curriculum and took turns having all of us over to their homes so that we could learn and play
together. I remember there was lots of music, reading many books, playing all sorts of games, and a
yearly Christmas program. Around this time, I began to learn about phonics and loved figuring out
which letters made which sounds. My mother tells me that I liked to rhyme a lot as a little child
because I found it fun. She said she thinks this is when my love of poetry started to develop. As I
transitioned into early elementary school, I was well prepared to enter Kindergarten. Because I have
always been pretty independent and self driven, my mother did not really have to push me to read. I
started reading the summer before Kindergarten and knew most sight words and how to sound out

Mobile Communication Is Multi Hop Ad Hoc Systems
INTRODUCTION: The Latest advances in Wireless Communications have extended conceivable
applications from straightforward voice services in early cell systems to new incorporated information
applications. These days, numerous up to date cellular telephones are likewise incorporated with
functionalities including FM radio, advanced camera, and MP3 player. Hence, the services upheld by
mobile communications have extended from basic voice to sight and sound, for example, video
conferencing and portable gaming. These new services require a higher service quality and also more
prominent information rate. Moreover, with mobile access to the Internet, the expanding development
in information movement will further drive the requirement for higher data transmission. Current
foundations that bolster mostly voice activity are confronting an incredible test in meeting both the
transmission capacity and quality of service requests of future mobile communication clients. For
mobile communication, one concept with successful improvement is customary single hop cell
frameworks where a mobile station (MS) speaks specifically with a base station (BS) [1]. Another idea
of mobile communication is multi hop ad hoc systems, which are infrastructure less, self sorting out
and quickly deployable with no site arranging, dissimilar to traditional cell systems. At the point when
associations need to move between heterogeneous systems for performance and high accessibility

My Home Culture Essay
Has My Home Culture Prepared Me for Work Life Culture?
By Drew Jenkins U5880443
Powerful tools include the use of coercion, threats, punishment, and any other means necessary to

in a corporation. In my parents house, this was their choice when my siblings and I were out of line. It
would usually start with a series of threats. When threats were not taken seriously, it would be
followed by immediate punishment. Dr. Christiansen in his HBR article, How Will You Measure Your
Life? explains that these tools shaped a culture with some significant traits. The three traits developed
from my home culture are dependability, integrity, and perseverance. Being dependable is a great trait
for my work life culture. It was established through a series of constant responsibility placed on me by
my parents. My eldest brother was always at work, and would not get back till early in the morning.
This caused the responsibilities of him to fall to me. In a household of nine you really had to pull your

Affluenza Synthesis
A new has entered the American vocabulary: affluenza. Affluenza is defined as the unsustainable
addiction to economic growth. Many scholars, writers, and comedians have made America s affluenza
mentality as a warning to the American people, as well as the bud of jokes. Based on human nature,
and strive for a more advanced life; Americans are truly people who need more growth. Affluenza is a
characteristic that humans have been exemplifying for centuries. Aristotle, an ancient Greek scholar,
states, He is happy who lives in accordance... and is sufficiently equipped with external goods (Source
A). People have always wanted more, which will make their lives happier. Human nature is never
satisfied, people will always strive for the next better thing. Americans do have a mentality related to
affluenza, not because they are greedy, but because human nature is ready for best entity. People are

Symptoms And Treatment Of The Blood Brain Barrier
There are many expecting mothers who suffer from serious mental illnesses like schizophrenia,
bipolar disorder, or borderline personality disorder that requires they must take antipsychotic drugs to
remain stable. There are different types of antipsychotics like typical and atypical. Typical
antipsychotics are classified as the first generation of antipyschotics. The atypical antipsychotics, the
second generation, are reported to be safer than the typical antipsychotics because they are the newer
form of antipsychotic medication. Even though they are reported to be safer, they still have severe side
effects on the individual consuming it, like tardive dyskinesia, which are uncontrollable movements of
the mouth (McCauley et al., 2009). Some drugs can affect the fetus by transferring to the blood brain
barrier. The blood brain barrier is a permeable barrier that allows some chemicals to pass through. It
separates the circulating blood from the brain extracellular fluid in the central nervous system. The
blood brain barrier also transports molecules to the brain that are essential to function properly, like
glucose and amino acids. Since capillary endothelial cells, which line the whole circulatory system,
form the blood brain barrier the medication could be transported to the fetus. From

Why Electronic Policing and Anti Plagiarism Software Should Be Used
College and high school students today have access to a vast amount of information on the internet.
We are no longer limited to the books in the library or outdated encyclopedias for research.
Information is in abundance and at our fingertips. Because of this, students find themselves easily
falling into plagiarism, copying and pasting data without properly citing sources. Some students may

Plagiarism has become a serious problem among high school and college students. A lot of this could
be that the attitudes and moral values of students have changed and a high percentage of students do
not worry about being caught. In a recent survey, it is reported that at least 28% of students do not
worry about the potential consequences of plagiarism ( Survey Reveals Unique Insights to US
Students Attitudes Towards Plagiarism ). Some students often claim they did not know they were
doing anything wrong, especially those who claimed to speak a language other than English (Cross).
Of course, with the endless amount of information available on the internet, a student can easily
educate themselves on the proper way to cite an essay. If a student does not choose good morals and
ethics when writing essays, the battle for plagiarism will continue. To avoid further risk of detection,
students will also use paid services that write essays. Even though this method is hard to detect, a
good teacher can notice changes in a student s writing style, which will send a red flag (Cross). If
students continue to lower their moral and ethical values, universities will increase technology to
detect plagiarism. Students should learn to write their own content and develop their skills. Anti

Persuasive Essay On Racism In Sports
Racism is prevalent in today s society and is exposed in the sports industry as well. Various athletes in
different sports field experience racism and face it everyday. Social media is a big platform for people
to criticize athletes for their failures and success. On the other hand more times than not, racism can
be found within the head of organizations of major sports, most noticeably football. The NFL has
condoned an abundance of racist actions towards players of Hispanic and African American descent;
therefore, the NFL should stop these problems by supporting athletes that take a stand, holding the
NFL owners accountable for their actions, and finally, not stereotyping young black athletes into a
position based off of racial factors. An organization like the NFL needs to support their athletes when
they decide to exercise their 1st amendment rights. For example, a current event that has ravished the
mainstream media would be over the controversy with Colin Kaepernick. There are 64 quarterbacks
total in the NFL at the time, Kaepernick not being one of them. At the end of the season Kaepernick
had a passer rating of 90.7 (ESPN, 2016) . That was better than ten starting quarterbacks in the league
at that time. Also, to add to his resume he only threw four interceptions during the season. His stats
prove that he s a proven NFL starter and his trip to the Superbowl in 2013 are examples of why he
should be added to any NFL roster. Why isn t he on a roster? It s primarily

Nuclear Family Systems Theory
Leroy understands that his treatment would hinder him from working the long hours that he is used to.
Leroy is also considering the doctor appointments, which will cost money and time. According to the
family systems theory, Leroy would not see this as being in the best interest for his family. Dr. Bowen
would also suggest that Leroy has a role that he has to fulfil (Priest, 2015). The role that Leroy has in
the family is that of a provider. Leroy believes that his diagnosis of prostate cancer, will in some way
impact his role as a provider. The level of incapacitation is also another aspect of the diagnosis to be
taken into consideration. If Leroy s diagnosis of prostate cancer does not inhibit him from fulfilling his
role as a provider, he may be more accepting of the illness. The nuclear family system may experience
a change in relationship patterns, depending on the level of incapacitation (Priest, 2015). Tiffany
would have to embrace a new role in the family, if Leroy now has to be dependent on her. This would
be difficult for not only Leroy, but for Tiffany as well. This major life incident has caused both of
them to possibly reverse roles in the family (Priest, 2015). This may also cause marital conflict, which
is a theme in the family systems theory. The idea of marital conflict can be thought of as tension ...

A normal response according to the social learning theory may cause Leroy to see his illness as a test

asserts that this is behavior, that is learned from the community, and environment. The faith that Leroy
displays can be seen as learned behavior. This learned behavior that Leroy displays, can greatly affect

Walter Lee Younger in Lorraine Hansberry s A Raisin In The Sun No matter how hard they try, there
are some people who cannot get ahead in life. Walter Lee Younger is a man who is frustrated with his
current position in life, and every disappointment he has encountered thus far. Although he tries to be
a loving man, sometimes he does not know how to show the idea of love, Sometimes...sometimes...I
don t even know how to try (Hansberry 89). His position in life can be regarded as symbolic of every
black male struggling to provide for his family by any means necessary. Although Walter has a job, it
seems inadequate for his survival. As a result, he has become frustrated and lacks good judgement.
Throughout this play Walter searches ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Walter does not have control over his own responsibilities. Therefore, if he was given all the resources
needed to provide his family his poor judgement and lack of business sense would create further stress
on the family. Ruth, Mama, and his sister Beanetha attack him from every angle about his doubtful
ideals. Ironically, those ideals are what Walter needs to shape and justify his manhood. Without ideals
and proper resources to obtain them, a man s existence can be regarded as insignificant. There are
many obstacles in the way of Walter?s dream of opening a liquor store, as he tries to explain to his
wife, Ruth, about what he has to do, ?Baby, don?t nothing happen for you in this world ?less you pay
somebody off!?(Hansberry 33) Walter s determination to open the liquor store can be viewed as means
to an end to his family?s hardships. As Walter s dreams become bigger and bigger, he seems to neglect
the smaller things such as his family. Here I am a giant surrounded by ants! Ants who can t even
understand what the giant is talking about,? (Hansberry 85). Walter has big ideals, but his methods of
achieving his goals and ideals are somewhat irrational. Walter can be regarded as more concerned with
becoming self employed without really thinking about the consequences, which may be imposed on
his family. Later in play, Walter learns that he needs to set his dreams aside for the sake of the

Red Cat Research Paper
The coat of the domestic cat is very diverse, considering all the patterns and colors that a cat can have.
From the hairless sphinx to the rough and tumble calico, genetics play a large part in determining a cat
s coat length, color, and feel. Melanin seems to play an influential role in the makings of the color of a
cat coat because it is what causes the color of hair and eyes.
The coat of a female cat is more likely to be diverse because they have two X chromosomes. The male
only has one X chromosome, which makes some of the combinations for coats, like calico or
tortoiseshell, almost impossible to occur. The Red gene (O) is carried on the X chromosome; for this
reason it is sex linked. Males normally only have one X chromosome and so if a male carries the Red
gene at all, he will be Red. Females have two X chromosomes; if both X chromosomes carry the Red
gene, then the cat will be Red. (Cat Colors FAQ: Cat Color Genetics. Cat Fanciers Chat,
www.fanciers.com/other faqs/color genetics.html) Most cats are not one solid color because of the
genetic diversity.
There are at least eight different loci that are involved in making up a cat s coat color. A combination
of different genotypes and phenotypes often lead to many different cat coat colors. The first coat color
gene in the domestic cat was characterized only recently. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A lot of melanin can make a cat s eyes amber, while a low concentration can make a cat s eyes blue. A
medium concentration of melanin can make a cat s eyes green. The eye color of a cat can indicate how
much melanin they have in their system. The darker a cat s eye color, the more likely it will be that a
cat has a darker coat, because of the melanin concentration. As previously mentioned, the albino cat s
eye color is blue or pink, and this is because of the lack of melanin in the body, which also shows on

The Battle at the Alamo Essay
The battle at the Alamo is one of the most significant events in the Texas Revolution, as well as in
both Mexican and American history. For Mexican President and General Antonio Lopez de Santa
Anna, it was a tale of determination and holding to the principles of a strong, central government. For
Americans living in Texas, the Alamo was a venture of small scale Revolutionary ideals; a people
should be able to democratically express how they feel their homeland to be governed. As we know,
both countries experienced the extreme opposites of their desired outcomes, if only initially. The tales
of this specific point in time are many, though some certainly contain many varying details from the
next. However, most can hardly be proven, as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Prior to the Texas Revolution, a time of peace and cohabitation occurred that was mutually beneficial
both to the Mexican people and the American who had immigrated to Texas for various reasons.
Mexico would can settlers who were willing to settle and work the land in order to develop it, thus
making it less likely that ever expanding America would consume its vast plains. For many Americans
moving to Mexico, it was a chance for a new beginning. Drunkards who couldn t make it anywhere
else, shoemakers who had fallen on hard times, educated lawyers, those evading law enforcement, and
even those who simply were drawn by the promise of land all came with hopes and dreams of
beginning anew. After all, it would be hard to ignore the call of 4,428 acres of land for thirty dollars
and an extra 160 acres for every child. The only thing asked in return was that each immigrant take the
Mexican oath of allegiance and proclaim to the Catholic faith, even if in name only. Inscribing G.T.T
(Gone to Texas) on a slip of paper or etching it into their cabin door, regardless of circumstance, meant
one thing: a fresh start.
This scenario would appear to be working out smashingly for both sides from 1824 to 1831. However,
the snowball s origin that would lead to the decline of Mexican American relations can be traced back
to this point surrounding this time period. In 1830, the Mexican government passed a series of laws to
halt American

The Physicality Of Love In Astrophil And Stella By Sir...
The poets of the Renaissance, however, did not neglect the physicality of love, and wrote about
passion in several of their sonnets. As critic Robert H. Deming asserts, commenting John Donne s
Elegies, Love of a celestial kind is love of the virtuous and beautiful woman ... who is the first step up
the Platonic ladder to love of an absolute, static kind. But this love is fit only for souls ... hardly fit for
bodies (396). An example of the importance of physical desire is given in the sequence of 108 sonnets
of Astrophil and Stella by Sir Philip Sidney. The protagonists of the sonnets are Astrophil, a young
boy, and Stella, the girl he loves. Her name refers to a celestial dimension since the word stella means
star in English. Nevertheless, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These poems are an invitation to seize the moment that men make to women. Readers need not be
surprised, for also the theme of carpe diem was very popular among ancient authors, like Horace and
Virgil. Therefore, Renaissance poets, with their classical taste, were fond of this theme and used it in
their sonnets. Strange as it may seem, the poems of carpe diem, too, talk about love, but they abandon
the idealized aspect of love as a yearning of the soul for higher realities, and mainly focus on passion
and sex. These literary works are also significant because they give an insight of a male centric
society, where the man is not a courteous knight anymore, but he is a person with deep bodily instincts
that want to satisfy his appetites. One of the best examples of these sonnets is To the Virgins, to Make
Much of Time by Robert Herrick. The key part of the poem is the first stanza, when the poet tells the
virgins that this same flower that smiles today / Tomorrow will be dying (757). He suggests using their
time while they still can and profiting of that age ... when youth and blood are warmer

Taking a Look at Clinical Trials
Every medical innovation starts with an idea or vision, and goes through several developmental
stages, namely, basic research, translational research and clinical research before being able to market
the treatment. (4) This treatment can be a drug, a medical device, a vaccine, a blood product or gene
therapy. (3) The basic research is done in a laboratory, where cell function is studied, and it is
determined under what conditions the treatment could cause cells to function more effectively. The
treatment is then tested in animals to see the effect, and to test possible toxicity. Once the treatment
has been named safe for use in animals, it can then be tested in humans. (4) Clinical research, or
clinical trials, involves the testing of the treatment in human volunteers, working towards the approval
of the treatment to be marketed. (3) The research that bridges the gap between studies done in the
laboratory and clinical trials is then known as translational research. (4)
The main purpose of a clinical trial is to determine if the treatment is safe and effective for human use,
and is required by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) before a treatment can be approved.
There are, however, other reasons these trials are performed. They can be used to compare the new
treatment to an already existing one to determine which is more effective, and to determine different
ways in which to use current treatments in order for them to be most effective, easiest to use and
provide the

system is activated, we tend to perceive everything in our environment as a possible threat to our
survival. By its very nature, the fight or flight system bypasses our rational mind where our more well
thought out beliefs exist and moves us into attack mode. This state of alert causes us to perceive
almost everything in our world as a possible threat to our survival. As such, we tend to see everyone

Christianity On-line Essay
Christianity On line
On line communities are a foreign concept to me. I have never joined one, or even been curious to see
what they are like. The only experience I have had with them is in middle school when I used to go
into chat rooms and talk to other teens. The only conversation involved there was about music and
movies. It has been years since I have ventured into anything on line except for checking my e mail or
downloading music. In order to write about on line communities, the assignment given to the class I
am in, I had to go on line and explore the culture myself. Since I had no idea what server to use or
what sites were popular, the task was a little daunting.
The first thing I looked at was The Lost ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first one I went to was one on hip hop music; it was a topic that interested me. I assumed that it
would have interesting posts about how people interpreted the lyrics to songs and what personal value
a song had to them. It turned out to be a homepage with topics like Why did political rap die out? and
Is Tupac really dead? Political rap hasn t been popular since the early 1990 s and Tupac was a famous
rapper who got shot about three years ago but his record label is still releasing his work. The site
obviously had not been updated in a while. There were about 5 or 6 people that voiced their opinion
with only a sentence or two of effort put into it. Many that responded to Why did political rap die out?
felt that rap today is influencing children to take the easy way out and place all value on money. Since
there was a small amount of people in each forum, I decided to go look at a topic where more people
would be involved.
I went to America On line s communities , and started reading topics in Christianity. There were many
fundamentalists posting their thoughts on why everyone should love Jesus. Like in reality, everyone
has their niche where he likes to go for religion, and there are the conservatives and liberals. In the
midst of the preaching, there were discussion boards on Atheism and how the Bible can refute those
arguments. It was evident an on line survey had been done in order to compile a list of

  • 5. Literary Elements In Araby James Joyce s literary work Araby is a well written piece that contains so many different elements of literature, such as imagery, allusions and the use of symbols. By using these different elements, he is able to paint a well, drawn out picture for the readers depicting the tripartite psyche that Freud defined as the Id, Ego and Super Ego. The main character in Araby is a young boy living with his aunt and uncle who wants to attend the local bazaar which is called Araby in the piece of literature. He is late going to the bazaar when his uncle comes home late from work with the money he is allowed to use, fearing he will be late and the bazaar will be closed or nothing left to buy. He finally arrives after all the trouble of rushing and catching trains to get there to only leave empty handed and disappointed. This boy in the story represents an idea that is so much bigger than one orphaned boy living with his drunk uncle trying to impress the girl next door. Expressed in Karen R. Smith s article Ethnic Irony and the Quest of Reading: Joyce, Erdrich, and Chivalry in the Introductory Literature Classroom she briefly highlights that Joyce who has an Irish background, easily represents the pinnacle of the primarily British and American movement of high Modernism. After taking this into consideration and re reading the story, the readers can easily recognize the relationship the oppressive government and the oppressive situation that the boy in the story is in and how the ... • 6. The Importance Of Family Law To begin with, family law is a dense practice that can result in emotional, psychological, and physical distress for all parties involved. Depending on the outcome, divorce cases can end in devastating ways that result in the loss of college and retirement funds and the destruction of family traditions and values (Wray 1). The traditional litigated process puts a strain on families, especially in cases where minor children are involved; this strain includes anxiety, negative emotions, and feelings of helplessness (Wray 1). Though not all family law cases go to court, the adversarial process is taxing for the parties and professionals. In 1990, Stuart Webb posed the idea that family lawyers can help their clients without representing them in court (Tesler 9). Instead, this new settlement process was labeled as Collaborative Practice, in which lawyers, mental health professionals, and financial professionals worked with clients to reach a resolution that everyone is comfortable with. Collaborative Practice is a better approach when handling family law cases due to the involvement of mental health professionals to help clients maintain their mental well being during the difficult time. Clients are guided to express their emotions and prepare for the after effects, while recognizing the burden and emotional distress. Collaborative Practice spread across the United States and across the globe (Wray 1). The approach was revolutionary because it took off the pressure to litigate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Similarities Between The Last Dog And The Last Dog You are being deceived; two things can seem similar, but really, they are very different. What you initially see is not always accurate, this is especially prominent in literature. Though Dark They Were and Golden Eyed and The Last Dog appear to be similar, because they have similar genes and characters, they have contrasting themes that are developed in vastly different ways. The stories seem similar because they are both science fiction, and have main characters that are alike. Brock and Bittering are extremely different than the people around them. Brock, in The Last Dog , lives in a dome, in what is a post apocalyptic Earth, where everyone in the dome is unemotional and bland, except Brock. This quote from the text shows that the story is science fiction, ...he pulled the scanner from his outside pouch and checked it hot. Oh, that was what he was feeling. Hot. Both stories include many classic elements of science fiction, like being set in the future, and new technology and science. Dark They Were and Golden Eyed shares the same traits. When a character says We re stranded on Mars... it creates a science fiction story, because we do not currently have the technology to live on Mars, and it shows the story is in the future. Both stories have similar main characters. Brock and Bittering are the odd ones out in their peer group, Brock is more human than others, because he has strong feelings, and longs for adventure. ...his heart was beating so hard... this supports the fact that Brock is uncommon, because he is getting excited about leaving the dome. Bittering is different from the people around him because he resists and questions the change that is affecting him and his community. When Bittering says What is this? We ve got to get away from this. He is talking about how Mars is slowing changing everything that is organic from Earth into Martian things. The roses, for example, start normally but after some time on Mars they turn green. Bittering is abnormal because everyone else from Earth is not worried about the changes they are going through. He thought his girlfriend to be an intruder in his home. Proven to be innocent, many people believe that Mr. Pistorious got off a little too easy. As an infant, Mr. Pistorious had his legs amputated due to being born without fibulas. But never let that keep him from rising above and beyond. As a disabled Olympic athlete, Oscar Pistorious was a national hero and an international star for the way that he overcame his disability to compete against able bodied runners as well as disabled ones. In a managerial level, experiments can help managers to optimize investment based on the potential improvement suggested by these tests. For instance, experiments in the Microsoft Company on its Bing search engine showed that every 100 millisecond difference in performance had a 0.6% impact on revenue. With Bing s yearly revenue surpassing $3 billion, a 100 millisecond speedup is worth $18 million in annual incremental revenue. Results advocate that investing on a project to improve the Bing s response time can generate billions of dollars for the company. (Kohavi Thomke, 2017) A/B testing is extremely goal oriented. • 10. Strengths And Weaknesses Of Presidential Candidates The Strengths and Weaknesses of the System of Choosing Presidential Candidates It seems reasonable to conjecture that the Achilles heel of the modern presidency is one of recruitment. The long winded delegate nomination process could in theory be replaced by a daylong direct election of presidential candidates. Instead, tradition dictates that the presidential race is drawn out quadrennially over the pre primary, primary, Party Convention and campaign seasons. All four phases influence the outcome of candidate selection and much also depends on campaign finance, the role of the media and the nominees themselves. Although the process is considered a complex, drawn out affair in the eyes of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Caucuses, the power to select delegates, who are sent to nominate presidential candidates at the National Party Convention, rests with Party activists who meet first at a local, then county and finally at a state level to make their choices. The caucus system propounds the strength of the Party elite who have an overriding influence as to who is chosen. As Ragsdale observed (1993, p.95), the system tended to be dominated and controlled by party bosses, as deals were cut in smoke filled rooms, rather than by ordinary rank and file members. This was far from democratic, and since the controversy surrounding Humphrey s nomination for the Democratic Party in 1968, the McGovern Fraser Commission established reforms which saw the advent of the Media Primary. Since 1972, this procedure has become the system with gravitas: 77% of the votes cast by Republican delegates in 1988 came from those selected by primaries. These state wide intra party elections mean that any supporters can vote for a nominee to send to the National Convention and although these elected delegates still formally select the presidential candidate, it is rarely more than a ratification of the preferences expressed by ordinary voters. This encouraged a higher level of political participation, as voters could feel a part of the decision making process. Some primaries, such as Michigan State, saw a significantly ... Environmental And Health Hazards of Burning Coal Coal is the primary fuel for electricity production in India and its usage is continuously growing to meet the energy demands of the country. Emissions of greenhouse gases and other pollutants are growing in India with the increasing demand for electricity. The aspiration for fast economic growth lead to grow rapid industrialization coupled with accelerated urbanization and mechanization of agriculture has been responsible for this increasing need of electricity ever since the independence. • 12. James Buchanan Vs. Dred Scott Case James Buchanan was an unsuccessful president due to his unwillingness to see the national effects of his decisions on slavery. In his inaugural address, Buchanan signaled his desire to serve as a peacemaker. At the time of his election to President in 1856 under the Democratic nomination, few people expected him to have Republicans in the cabinet. Yet he almost had no Democratic representation. Regardless of the appointees to his cabinet, Buchanan was stubborn and stuck to his own views, either choosing not to see the effects slavery had on the nation, or simply being clueless to the repercussions. James Buchanan supported the Dred Scott case in the Supreme Court, was in favor of the Kansas Nebraska act, and created stronger sectionalism, greatly affecting the political parties. To begin with, James Buchanan supported the Supreme Court s decision in the case of Dred Scott and his fight for freedom. Dred Scott was a slave who was taken from where he was initially working in Missouri, to a new posts in Illinois and what are now some regions in Minnesota, by his owner. After being brought to these areas, Scott claimed that he was actually a free man, since he now stood on free territory. My mother is very musically gifted, so songs were part of our daily routine. There are still little songs that pop into my head about daily tasks that she created to help us learn and make work and learning fun. When I grew a bit older, around the age of four, my mother formed a group with other women in our neighborhood to form a preschool. They used the Joy School curriculum and took turns having all of us over to their homes so that we could learn and play together. I remember there was lots of music, reading many books, playing all sorts of games, and a yearly Christmas program. Around this time, I began to learn about phonics and loved figuring out which letters made which sounds. My mother tells me that I liked to rhyme a lot as a little child because I found it fun. Mobile Communication Is Multi Hop Ad Hoc Systems INTRODUCTION: The Latest advances in Wireless Communications have extended conceivable applications from straightforward voice services in early cell systems to new incorporated information applications. These days, numerous up to date cellular telephones are likewise incorporated with functionalities including FM radio, advanced camera, and MP3 player. Hence, the services upheld by mobile communications have extended from basic voice to sight and sound, for example, video conferencing and portable gaming. • 16. My Home Culture Essay Has My Home Culture Prepared Me for Work Life Culture? By Drew Jenkins U5880443 Powerful tools include the use of coercion, threats, punishment, and any other means necessary to achieve teamwork. Dr. Clayton Christiansen describes how it can be used to mold children as well as in a corporation. In my parents house, this was their choice when my siblings and I were out of line. It would usually start with a series of threats. When threats were not taken seriously, it would be followed by immediate punishment. Dr. Christiansen in his HBR article, How Will You Measure Your Life? explains that these tools shaped a culture with some significant traits. The three traits developed from my home culture are dependability, integrity, and perseverance. Being dependable is a great trait for my work life culture. It was established through a series of constant responsibility placed on me by my parents. My eldest brother was always at work, and would not get back till early in the morning. This caused the responsibilities of him to fall to me. In a household of nine you really had to pull your own weight, plus any excess that could relieve stress off my parents. • 18. Symptoms And Treatment Of The Blood Brain Barrier There are many expecting mothers who suffer from serious mental illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or borderline personality disorder that requires they must take antipsychotic drugs to remain stable. There are different types of antipsychotics like typical and atypical. Typical antipsychotics are classified as the first generation of antipyschotics. The atypical antipsychotics, the second generation, are reported to be safer than the typical antipsychotics because they are the newer form of antipsychotic medication. Even though they are reported to be safer, they still have severe side effects on the individual consuming it, like tardive dyskinesia, which are uncontrollable movements of the mouth (McCauley et al., 2009). Some drugs can affect the fetus by transferring to the blood brain barrier. The blood brain barrier is a permeable barrier that allows some chemicals to pass through. It separates the circulating blood from the brain extracellular fluid in the central nervous system. The blood brain barrier also transports molecules to the brain that are essential to function properly, like glucose and amino acids. Since capillary endothelial cells, which line the whole circulatory system, form the blood brain barrier the medication could be transported to the fetus. From ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Policing And Anti-Plagiarism Why Electronic Policing and Anti Plagiarism Software Should Be Used College and high school students today have access to a vast amount of information on the internet. We are no longer limited to the books in the library or outdated encyclopedias for research. Information is in abundance and at our fingertips. Because of this, students find themselves easily falling into plagiarism, copying and pasting data without properly citing sources. In a recent survey, it is reported that at least 28% of students do not worry about the potential consequences of plagiarism ( Survey Reveals Unique Insights to US Students Attitudes Towards Plagiarism ). Some students often claim they did not know they were doing anything wrong, especially those who claimed to speak a language other than English (Cross). Of course, with the endless amount of information available on the internet, a student can easily educate themselves on the proper way to cite an essay. If a student does not choose good morals and ethics when writing essays, the battle for plagiarism will continue. To avoid further risk of detection, students will also use paid services that write essays. Even though this method is hard to detect, a good teacher can notice changes in a student s writing style, which will send a red flag (Cross). • 20. Persuasive Essay On Racism In Sports Racism is prevalent in today s society and is exposed in the sports industry as well. Various athletes in different sports field experience racism and face it everyday. Social media is a big platform for people to criticize athletes for their failures and success. On the other hand more times than not, racism can be found within the head of organizations of major sports, most noticeably football. The NFL has condoned an abundance of racist actions towards players of Hispanic and African American descent; therefore, the NFL should stop these problems by supporting athletes that take a stand, holding the NFL owners accountable for their actions, and finally, not stereotyping young black athletes into a position based off of racial factors. An organization like the NFL needs to support their athletes when they decide to exercise their 1st amendment rights. For example, a current event that has ravished the mainstream media would be over the controversy with Colin Kaepernick. There are 64 quarterbacks total in the NFL at the time, Kaepernick not being one of them. At the end of the season Kaepernick had a passer rating of 90.7 (ESPN, 2016) . That was better than ten starting quarterbacks in the league at that time. Also, to add to his resume he only threw four interceptions during the season. His stats prove that he s a proven NFL starter and his trip to the Superbowl in 2013 are examples of why he should be added to any NFL roster. Why isn t he on a roster? It s primarily ... • 28. Red Cat Research Paper The coat of the domestic cat is very diverse, considering all the patterns and colors that a cat can have. From the hairless sphinx to the rough and tumble calico, genetics play a large part in determining a cat s coat length, color, and feel. Melanin seems to play an influential role in the makings of the color of a cat coat because it is what causes the color of hair and eyes. The coat of a female cat is more likely to be diverse because they have two X chromosomes. The male only has one X chromosome, which makes some of the combinations for coats, like calico or tortoiseshell, almost impossible to occur. The Red gene (O) is carried on the X chromosome; for this reason it is sex linked. Males normally only have one X chromosome and so if a male carries the Red gene at all, he will be Red. Females have two X chromosomes; if both X chromosomes carry the Red gene, then the cat will be Red. (Cat Colors FAQ: Cat Color Genetics. Cat Fanciers Chat, www.fanciers.com/other faqs/color genetics.html) Most cats are not one solid color because of the genetic diversity. Deming asserts, commenting John Donne s Elegies, Love of a celestial kind is love of the virtuous and beautiful woman ... who is the first step up the Platonic ladder to love of an absolute, static kind. But this love is fit only for souls ... hardly fit for bodies (396). An example of the importance of physical desire is given in the sequence of 108 sonnets of Astrophil and Stella by Sir Philip Sidney. Strange as it may seem, the poems of carpe diem, too, talk about love, but they abandon the idealized aspect of love as a yearning of the soul for higher realities, and mainly focus on passion and sex. These literary works are also significant because they give an insight of a male centric society, where the man is not a courteous knight anymore, but he is a person with deep bodily instincts that want to satisfy his appetites. One of the best examples of these sonnets is To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time by Robert Herrick. Taking a Look at Clinical Trials Every medical innovation starts with an idea or vision, and goes through several developmental stages, namely, basic research, translational research and clinical research before being able to market the treatment. (4) This treatment can be a drug, a medical device, a vaccine, a blood product or gene therapy. (3) The basic research is done in a laboratory, where cell function is studied, and it is determined under what conditions the treatment could cause cells to function more effectively. The treatment is then tested in animals to see the effect, and to test possible toxicity. Once the treatment has been named safe for use in animals, it can then be tested in humans. (4) Clinical research, or clinical trials, involves the testing of the treatment in human volunteers, working towards the approval of the treatment to be marketed. (3) The research that bridges the gap between studies done in the laboratory and clinical trials is then known as translational research. (4) The main purpose of a clinical trial is to determine if the treatment is safe and effective for human use, and is required by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) before a treatment can be approved. There are, however, other reasons these trials are performed.
