Urban Inequality
Urban Inequality It is said that you should once live in a big city as it s an experience of a lifetime.
Urban spaces have so many things to offer: great restaurants, concerts and festivals, and malls and
museums. Surely, you have heard of stories about people especially teenagers who want to escape the
dull lives of suburbia and make their ways to a big city. Urban life and urban space have been
glamorized by films, televisions, and music: Sex And The City (2008), Gossip Girl (2007 2012),
Empire State of Mind, etc. However, some filmmakers step out of the glitz and the glamor and reveal
the dark side of urban spaces. Roger and Me (1989), Wall Street, and A Civil Action (1998) exhibit the
truth of corporate capitalism that creates indifference towards inequality in the urban landscape. Roger
and Me by Michael Moore is a feature length documentary film that follows the closure of General
Motors plant in Flint, Michigan. Moore attempts to meet with Roger Smith, chairman of General
Motors, over the GM plant closure which resulted in the loss of 30,000 jobs in his hometown. The
documentary consists of sarcastic juxtapose of interviews of auto workers as well as those of both
wealthy and working class Flint residents. Correspondingly, Wall Street by A E Television Network is
a short biography video on the subject of the history of Wall Street and how it operates. Similarly, A
Civil Action by Steven Zaillian is a feature length drama/thriller film that based on a true story.

Christine Wilkie Stibb
Christine Wilkie Stibb s The Outside Child In And Out Of The Book examines the construction of the
child subject within a text, and contextualizes that construction by connecting to historical, social and
political events outside the text. She does this by taking real world (ie: historical, social and political)
instances and connecting them to each book. Each chapter focuses on a different construction of the
child outsider: outsider (the child as subject and the creation of subjectivity); displaced (refugees and
asylum seekers); erased (subjecting the child s body to public gaze and erasure of his or her identity);
abject (those expelled from the hierarchies); unattached (loss of parents and idea of home, moving
from one place to another, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This chapter explores the stories of immigrants and refugees, or other asylum seekers. She explains
they are works of literature, not case histories, but they do more than exploit for the purposes of
entertainment the sorts of distressful situations in which some real children find themselves. Literature
at its best is what most convinces us of the realities of other people s identities and selfhoods, so that
these novels, responsibly written and attempting authenticity, act as powerful and memorable case
histories which are as true as, or truer than, factually accurate ones. (26) Upon looking at the UNCRC
mentioned above Wilkie Stibbs examines the westernized and industrialized construction of the child
and childhood that anyone under eighteen is a child, and they shall be protected (24). However, in
historical documents references, including the French Revolution s 1795 Declaration of the Rights of
Man and the Citizen, and bringing up the idea of child labor and child soldiers, each nation has its own
conception of what it is to be a child. Rachel Anderson s The War Orphan, Derek Gregory s The

profile of a killer Essay examples
During the last decade the world has witnessed a staggering elevation in serial killings.
To give some insight into the scale of the problem posed by the serial killer, in the United States can
be gained from examining the statistics for just one year. In 1989 (the last year for which detailed
figures are available) there were 21,500 recorded homicides, of which some 5,000 are unsolved.
Unofficial sources believe that as many as a hundred serial killers may be at large at any given time.
Add to this the number of known victims of serial killers, then between 3,500 and 5,000 people are
killed by serial murderers every year. (Lane and Gregg 3)
These numerous multiple murders, often without consequence and justice, have shocked civilized ...

Characteristics of a serial killer are imperative in demarcating the type of person capable of
committing a serial murder. quot; Most known serial killers are 25 35 years old quot; (Falk 85). quot;It
is also significant that the victims of serial murderers are not concentrated in any age range quot; (Falk
85). quot;Serial killings are almost always committed by white males instead of blacks because class
resentment is far more likely to occur to a person with a good education than someone without an
appreciation of how society works quot; (Falk 85).
To truly understand the phenomenon of serial murder one must know what motivates a person to
commit such a horrendous crime. Patterns of serial killing fall broadly into two categories of
motivation: quot;Extrinsic, where the impulse to kill is located outside the killer s psyche that is, he
perceives a rational reason for murder in outside situations and events quot; (Fox and Levin 12).
quot;More frequently the motivation is intrinsic to the psyche of the killer, whether or not that
motivation is apparent to an independent observer quot; (Fox and Levin 12). Closer psychological
analysis of known cases indicates that serial murders fit into one of four main types according to the
predominate homicidal motivation: Visionaries, Missionaries, Hedonists, and Power Seekers.
Visionaries include killers who act in response to quot;voices quot; and alter egos, where

Sir Ernest Shackleton s Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition
Sir Ernest Shackleton was a courageous and bold man; here are a few things about him. He knew all
about the weather in Antarctica. Also, he was the first one ever to come into a 100 mile radius of
Antarctica. He was as famous as famous could be, and was a hero to thousands who read his book
Furthest South expedition. He was also the leader of the Imperial Trans Antarctic Expedition, and
before he set out on the Endurance he had already been to the Antarctic twice. There was a race to the
South Pole and Shackleton just had to win it. But, Shackleton s attempt abruptly came to a stop
because he was thrown back by terrible weather conditions, weather conditions 20 times worse than
Michigan s winter. The prize went to Amundsen on December 14,

Scheduling Patient Obligations
Abstract
This paper discusses potential legal issues that can occur in scheduling patient appointments.
Important healthcare legislation that impacts the scheduling of patient appointments is examined
including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), the Health
Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Act (HITECH), a part of the American Recovery
and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (AARA), and the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010
(ACA) which expands HIPAA. The issue is important to a scheduler who has a responsibility to
protect the rights of patients, to protect patients protected health information (PHI), and to help reduce
the escalating number of patient death resulting from medical

Wildlife Refuges
Policies at the local, state, and federal level have had a large impact on management and are also
reflective of how governments perceived the role of wildlife refuges. The Klamath River Basin, like
much of the western United States, has much federal influence because of the prevalence of federal
lands in the basin. The policy making bodies within the Klamath make decisions based on the
missions and interests of their individual agencies, and sometimes these missions can be
contradictory(Wilson 2010). Evaluation of the roles of federal agencies and the differences in agency
policy is vital for understanding management in the refuges. For the purpose of my study I will
examine the challenges of refuge management by interviewing refuge staff

The Message in Shrek Essay
The Message in Shrek
In traditional fairy tales, ogres are man eating beasts, the Prince rescues the Princess and they live
happily ever after. How do the makers of Shrek use presentational devices to reverse this tradition,
revealing the ogre as good, the Prince as evil?
In traditional fairy tales, the story begins Once upon a time and the general story line is a happy one.
Fairy tales are designed for small children so they can t be violent or contain swearing etc.
Snow White is a traditional fairy tale in which the evil queen tries to kill her but a prince rescues her, a
typical stereotype fairytale layout.
Sleeping Beauty has the same lay out but slightly differs from Snow ... Show more content on

Also the camera shots also show Donkey and Shrek together. In the fight Shrek doesn t want to fight
and offers to settle it over a pint but later decides to pummel them. From this the audience can tell that
Shrek is in favour of peace but doesn t mind the odd brawl with the baddies.
Later Shrek meets and rescues Princess Fiona as ordered by lord Farquaad. When they first meet
Fiona is expecting a kiss as she lays ready (this is in reference to sleeping beauty) for a kiss but Shrek
shakes her awake this suggests Shrek is not the traditional type as the film isn t either. When Fiona
queries why Shrek hasn t slain the dragon he says that it is on his to do list which says Shrek has a
sense of humour even in life threatening situations.
At the beginning of the film, Shrek tries to threaten the characters he meets. There are characters that
are not affected by his appearance these being Princess Fiona, Donkey and the fairy tale creatures that
squat in his swamp at the beginning of the film. Although Shrek an ogre the audience accepts him as a
good guy.
In contrast to Shrek, lord Farquaad is a small and nasty character and shows no remorse throughout
the film. There is a scene where lord Farquaad is interrogating the ginger bread man truing to find the

The Media s Portrayal Of Asian Americans
Throughout history, the media has been known to be influential towards how individuals of society
perceive the world and their environment. This influence can lead to people creating prejudices
towards those who are highlighted by the media. It also has the ability to change the attitude of one
person towards another class of people and stereotype them in positive, but mostly negative ways. One
population that has played victim to the repercussions of the mass media is Asian Americans, who
have been oppressed and deemed a minority by Americans. The media s portrayal of Asian Americans
has had detrimental effects on one s opportunities, performance, and their perception of the world. The
mass media consists of any means of communication that has the ability to reach a large amount of
people. The term media can refer to movies, television, the newspaper, etc. It is because of it s ability
to out reach to a mass quantity of people that it is able to reinforce and teach societal values. At a
young age, socialization occurs in that it involves the learning of the values and the norms of society
and adopting them into their own personal values (Perse, 2001.) Children often have little life
experience so they learn and imitate their environment whether that be the characters on television or
societal institutions like their families or teachers at school. Adolescents are more susceptible to
socialization in that they are at a period in which they are trying to find

Judith Jarvis Thomson s A Defense Of Abortion Essay
Judith Jarvis Thomson s A Defense of Abortion is a uniquely reasoned argument for the right to
abortion that uses strong analogies to challenge pro life arguments that are based on the premise that a
human life begins at the moment of conception. In this paper I will argue that Thomson is correct in
her view and that her analogies solidify her argument, which then becomes impervious to criticism
from philosophers like Keith J. Pavlischek or David B. Hershenov who bring up other factors
irrelevant to Thomson argument that are easily disputable by facts. Thomson starts her paper by
clarifying that while she does not agree with the premise that life begins at the moment of conception
she is willing to accept it in her argument to prove that it is a counterpoint to abortion that is as weak
as the rest of the pro life argument. In her essay, Thomson uses three major analogies to illustrate
different scenarios to which abortion would be considered. The Violinist Analogy describes a
pregnancy that has been induced by rape and, foreshadows to a section later in the essay, where she
goes into detail about where the line is drawn when two innocent lives are at risk and what is the third
party s role in the problem solving. It is a case in which the Society of Music Lovers has kidnapped
you and attached you to a revered violinist who needs your kidneys to support him so he can live. The
doctor says it is a nine month procedure, after which, he will be healthy again and you will

The Headless Horseman And The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow
In The Headless Horseman, Atwood extends the role playing in which Nell engages, and the purpose
is quite similar to reveal Nell s attempts to explore her identity. This short story opens with Nell
deciding that for Halloween she wants to go as the Headless Horseman, which is an allusion to The
Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving. Although she later dejectedly admits that she is too
old for trick or treating, Nell is initially excited at the prospect of wearing the disguise: Perhaps
because I could take time off from being myself, or from the impersonation of myself I was finding it
increasingly expedient, but increasingly burdensome, to perform in public (24). As in The Art of
Cooking and Serving, Nell is anxious to be someone other than herself, although this macabre
transformation illustrates her emerging desire to experiment more with adventure and ... Show more

attempted to capture this same duality when she constructed the costume, hoping that her paper mâché
creation would convey both the grisly legend and the joke of the original story (24, 25). Unfortunately,
the reception by the adults of the community is not what she hopes for. Over and again, they ask her,
And who are you supposed to be? (28). On the other hand, Nell s high strung little sister Lizzie knows
exactly how to react to her disguise she screams in terror, and her screams only intensify when Nell

Social Norms In American Society
A social norm is defined as the rules of behavior that are considered acceptable in society. Throughout
American history, the rules regarding what is considered acceptable behavior has changed
tremendously. These behaviors haven t changed just once or twice, but many times over the span of
many years. Social norms can change quite often. There is a tremendous amount of behaviors we do in
modern America that would have never been considered acceptable years ago. American society has
changed significantly in consideration to social norms. Social norms that have changed excessively
throughout American history are being affiliated with the LGBT community, dating, relationships, and
premarital sex. So, how have social norms changed in American society? ... Show more content on

There was once a time when premarital sex hardly ever existed, but that is not the case today. The age
of individuals taking part in premarital sex is declining, and people are partaking in sexual acts at
much younger ages. There is a highly unrealistic goal to encourage all Americans to abstain from sex
until they marry (Finer 2). This is a highly unrealistic goal; the amount of people having premarital
sex may lower, but getting all Americans to abstain is a nearly impossible goal. A 2002 survey showed
that seventy five percent of people aged 20 had premarital sex. The same survey portrayed participants
aged 44 and it showed that ninety five percent had sex before marrying. The survey showed that only
around three percent of people abstained until marriage (Finer 3). Premarital sex also differs in the
different sexes. Males were more likely to participate in premarital sex than women. This statistic is
still common today. Premarital sex seemed to play a major role in relationships all the way back to the
1940s, it just depended on what age they did the act. By age 44, almost all people, if not married, had
premarital sex (Finer 4). This is a social norm that seemed to stay relatively constant in American
society throughout history. Not being abstinent is something that individuals have been accustomed to.
It was socially

The Metaphors Used In The Crucible By Arthur Miller
Webster s dictionary defines a crucible as a vessel of a very refractory material (as porcelain) used for
melting and calcining a substance that requires a high degree of heat. This means that since ancient
times, something such as a pot of clay could be used as a container for melting metals or other
materials under a great deal of heat, burning away any and all impurities to get a rather purified
product. Relevant to our day and society, a courtroom may sometimes be referred to as a crucible. This
is because a courtroom is where irrelevancies, lies or half truths are burned away under harsh
questioning or scrutiny until the purest product, which in this case is the total and complete truth, is all
that remains. Likewise, in Arthur Miller s play The Crucible, Miller uses an analogy between a
crucible and the events that take place in the town of Salem, Massachusetts to exemplify the severe
tests or trials that occur as an entire puritan community, under mass hysteria, is facing a series of
daunting trials that are meant to fish out any accused witches that supposedly have sold their souls to
the devil. Miller s metaphor compares the actual crucible to the town of Salem, the continents of the
crucible to the people who face false accusations of witchcraft, and the heat used fo to purify the
continents of a crucible to the character s actions and emotions that fuel the trials and like events that
take place in the play.

How Does Saving Affect The Economy
CHAPTER 1
AN INTRODUCTION TO RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
1.1 Statement of the Research Problem
Consumption and saving play an important role in the world economy and what determines
consumption and saving is income. As Keynes pointed out, When individuals are saving their money,
they are actually hurting the economy because saving reduces aggregate demand and thus reduces
company revenue . From this study, it is seen that one s expenditure becomes another s income. On the
other hand, saving is also important because of future consumption which has to be maintained for
meeting any kind of emergency or to be able to face any level of risks and uncertainties. For this very
reason precautionary saving has become very essential for migrants since migrants face higher risks
and uncertainties than the local people who do not have to worry so much about their future.
In today s scenario, the study shows that with increase in migration, there is an increase in the total
spending within the economy which leads to an increase in the supply of labour and increase in
demand. Therefore, an increase in spending within the economy brings about an increase in the GDP.
Generally individuals or households look at the prices of the products and the quality before making a
purchase because price of commodities determines their consumption behaviour. How much they save
depends on how much they earn and how much they consume. Consumption and saving behaviour
differ from place to place. A person

Essay on Educational Goals and Philosophies
Educational Goals and Philosophies
For the past seven years, I have had the same dream to someday be a high school math teacher. I am
finally on my way to turning that dream into a reality. Along the way, I am learning a lot of things and
forming a number of opinions. One of the main areas in which I am forming new beliefs is in relation
to what methods I will use in teaching my class and what aspects of what philosophies I will employ.
First of all, however, I must reach the point where I have a class to teach.
How am I going to reach my goal of becoming a teacher? I believe I am taking the most important

I believe these subjects are necessary for a well rounded education, and as a math teacher, I will be
teaching one of these basic subjects. I do not believe there should be a curriculum that excludes one
form or another of math. It is important for our students to know math and these other basic subjects if
we want to be able to compete with the rest of the world economically and technologically. Not only
must students sit in a class where these subjects are taught, but they also need to master the material
before they move on to the next grade. This is the job of the teacher. It is up to the teacher to make
sure that his students understand the material and can do it on their own before he moves on to
something else. I believe that the grade a student makes reflects the teacher. If a student makes an F,
the teacher has failed in his teaching of that student. This does not mean that the teacher should make
his class easy. I still agree with the essentialist that academic rigor is an essential component of
education. However, I do not agree that this necessitates a great amount of homework. The level of
work can be tough and stretch the minds of the students, but if the teacher is able to teach his students
well in class and they comprehend the material and can practice it during the class period, I do not
think a lot of homework

One Blind Man To Another In Raymond Carver s Cathedral
Cathedral: One Blind Man to Another
In Raymond Carver s Cathedral, the reader is given a glimpse into the precarious relationship between
the narrator and his wife. The narrator shares his heavily critical point of view on the forthcoming visit
from his wife s old friend whom he calls the blind man later known as Robert . Specifically, Carver
uses first person narrative to put the reader in the mindset of the speaker who although keeps
information hidden about himself, eventually exposes a substantial amount of character through his
commentary. Slowly but surely he divulges his tremendously insecure, stubborn, and immature nature
when it comes to matters of exhibiting empathy for others and most importantly obtaining the
emotional depth for it. The narrator seems to have formed a bias against Robert based off of his
knowledge of him through his wife s stories of her time with him. Beginning the passage, he expresses
his disdain for the blind man visiting him and his wife saying he isn t enthusiastic about his visit and
his being blind bothered [him] to the point of outright stating that it was not something [he] looked
forward to (p.209). Maintaining the feeling of an obvious dislike towards Robert, he goes to explain

Social Abstivation Aspects Of Social Observation
Robert is 5 years old and this observation took place at a family party, in a great social setting. I
received clearance to observe Robert by both his mother and father. Robert is an only child and spends
his time equally between his maternal and paternal families due to the fact that his parents are
separated. He is a third generation Mexican American. He seems to be growing fairly well in reference
to his height and weight compared to other children his age. Throughout much of the afternoon, I
observed calm behavior and much later, I observed a more boisterous behavior. At the beginning of
the observation he walked into the social setting being almost oblivious to the people around him, not
wanting to formally greet members of the family until his father asked him to do so. After this, Robert
sat at a table alone until children approached him and then he became a little less shy in demeanor.
The next transition in this observation began at the time children started to come, Robert nervously
asks a group of children if he can play with them and the group accepts. Much of the observation
between Robert, the group of children, and playtime consisted of playing with a basketball in which
there is no clear objectives or rules , playing shooting or bad guy, good guy games, and just aimlessly,
randomly running throughout the yard and home. Robert doesn t seem to lead in any of these activities
and seems to get his point across but does it in a timid manner. If any

HIPAA Compliant Mobile App Development Requirements
HIPAA Compliant Mobile App Development Requirements
HIPAA compliance issues affect medical practices, insurance companies and eCommerce companies
that sell medical devices, equipment and increasingly popular fitness apps that measure key health and
fitness functions. HIPAA, an acronym that stands for the Health Insurance Portability and
Accountability Act, was passed in 1996 and took effect in 2003. The act mandates privacy protection
for confidential health records including written and oral disclosures and digital electronic health or
medical records, which are called EHRs and EMRs.
App Development for eCommerce
App development becomes increasingly critical for eCommerce companies, and consumers have
embraced apps in a big way for their Internet connected devices. Mobile apps sell in locations like
Apple s App Store, Blackberry App World, Google Play and the Windows Phone Store, and more than
100 billion apps were downloaded from Apple as of the middle of 2015.[1] In particular, eCommerce
companies get strong cost value results by developing proprietary apps for their customers because
these applications make it easier to order on mobile devices and provide shortcuts for many online
activities. Fitness and health apps, which are usually subject to HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules,
have become increasingly in demand on eCommerce websites.Downloads of fitness apps have

Los Olvidados
Los olvidados: The Marginalization of the Lower Class Population in the Porfirio Díaz Era In the

though sidelined by the government, were aware of their entitlement to their land and the country.
Amidst the heated quarrel, the sound of an approaching school bus freezes the fight for a moment.
Seconds after, el Jaibo finally manages to take the coin away from Pedro, who he leaves on the ground
struggling to get up. At that moment, the camera rapidly shifts to the oncoming school bus in a
medium close up shot to illustrate that the focus is about to shift from the economic struggles to a
revolution. Ideally, the oncoming bus signifies the impending and awaiting revolution against the
government by the lower class population who felt neglected and abandoned by the government. The
unusually loud sound of the bus implies the intensity and supposed magnitude of the revolution. The
momentary freeze in the fight between el Jaibo and Pedro marks the transition period when the focus
among the neglected group is expected to shift from silence and inactivity to active participation in the

Using One-Stage Cluster Sampling
In cluster sampling, instead of selecting all the subjects from the entire population right off, the
researcher must take several steps in order to gather his or her sample population.
First, the researcher must select various groups or clusters, and then from each cluster, the researcher
begins to choose the individual subjects by either simple random or systematic random sampling. The
researcher can even opt to include the entire cluster and not just a subset from it depending on the
design study they have chosen.
For my particular study, I have chosen to use a simple random control trial, which is pretty common
for the testing of behavioral sciences. I have also chosen to use one stage cluster sample, this sample
includes all of the children with PTSD and severe forms of trauma that were picked from all the

The Use Of Language In Animal Farm, By George Orwell
Throughout many generations, there have been great leaders and infamous leaders that use language to
further their cause. Language is very powerful and the ones who are talented hold deep responsibility.
This power can be extremely positive or extremely detrimental to a society as whole. Dialect between
one another can help others unite, while having the hazard of manipulation, or even brainwashing. A
legendary example of the use of language is Animal Farm, the novel written by George Orwell.
The objective in using language is to bring people together. In Animal Farm, the pigs brought the
animals together to rebel against Jones. In Chapter One, Old Major and the pigs show leadership and
bring forth ideas to overthrow Jones. This is an example of others coming together for a common
good through language. In the middle of this historic novel, the animals finally gain control of the
farm. In chapter three, the pigs had to use language to encourage the other animals to farm for their
peers. Once Animal Farm practically became an empire, the citizens of the farm started their first huge
project: building a windmill. This is another example of how the guidance of good language can help
communities accomplish massive goals.
While language can help a society, it can also be a means for leaders to manipulate their own people.
In Chapter Three of Animal Farm, it becomes apparent that the pigs have advantages over the other
animals. The pigs give clever reasoning to why they

Air Canada s Business Strategy Essay
Over the years Air Canada s business strategy has changed and has been reconstructed a number of
times. Air Canada s mission has always remained the same, connecting Canada and world (Air
Canada, 2016), but their visions and goals, have transformed.
Air Canada s early strategy was to grow the business, with minimal concern about their staff members
and customers. Without any benefits or rewards their staff felt underappreciated. Their customers felt
as though their feedback wasn t being heard but in the eyes of Air Canada as long as their business
was expanding, they were satisfied.
This was evident with the purchase of Canadian Airlines, in 1999 (The National, 2003). With the
purchase of this airline, Air Canada also inherited their estimated eight billion dollar debt (The
National, 2003). Also inherited from the merger, were underappreciated employees and under trained
employees who lacked morale (The National, 2003). In 2003, Air Canada filed for bankruptcy (The
National, 2003), this was due to the large financial deficit, the economy and the underappreciated/paid
employees. Although, this was a difficult time for the airline, this truly marked the change in how the
airline is structured. In 2005, it marked the true return of Air Canada, they reached record breaking
revenues and far exceeded anyone s expectation, including their own. Currently Air Canada, is the
largest Canadian Airline, which has a lot to do with their change in business strategy.
Air Canada is now an

Objectives Of The Sustainable Development Goals
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) aim to replace the Millennium Development Goals
(MDGs) which expire in 2015. Focusing on goal 15 of the SDGs, the measurability and overall
effectiveness of the targets will be assessed.
Targets 15.2 through 15.5 and 15.8 focus on conserving specific ecosystems and reducing biodiversity
loss. Each specifies a deadline year (2020 or 2030) for being in progress or completed, which helps to
measure the timeline for the goal. Each target can be quantified in several ways but they don t specify
how exactly to quantify it. The target year makes the deadline measurable but the method of
measuring the target itself is not specific enough.
15.1 and 15.6 have similar intentions to the aforementioned targets ... Show more content on

15c discusses enhancing global support for 15.7 but does not state by which method(s) it will be
measured nor any specific thresholds to meet. Therefore it is too ambiguous to measure.
15.9 is ideal but it s difficult to measure how much of biodiversity and ecosystem values are integrated
into planning. The target is measurable but not specific enough.
Financial resources in 15a are quantifiable but the financial resources used and the amount of money
is not stated anywhere, therefore it is not explicit enough. 15b mentions mobilizing all resources but it
does not mention which resources and how much of each resource is needed. Thus, 15b is not
measurable; it is much too vague. Community support in 15c is also quite vague and not specific
enough.
Targets 15.2 through 15.6 and 15.8 are generally measured on an international scale but the criteria are
not specific enough and/or are lacking in some areas. For example, deforestation in target 15.2 can be
directly measured using technology like remote sensing but are usually only studied in small regions
at once. Namely, a global study of deforestation rates in humid tropical forests was last done in 2002
(Achard et al., 2002). The International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) currently
monitors deforestation, however, like the SDGs, they employ measurable but not specific enough
targets, such as encourage

Love in HJohn Donne´s A Valediction Forbidding Mourning...
Some of the most analyzed aspects of emotion and the life, by literary greats throughout the past
several centuries, have been the issue of death and the physical, spiritual, and emotional attachments
that can be defined as love. Even though writers of prose and poetry have long belabored these two
specific areas of discussion, the depth and diversity in approach is something that can only be
described with regards to the differential between personalities and the world you of the author in
question. Accordingly, the following analysis will be concentric upon discussing and analyzing the

Instead, the author focuses a great deal of energy on examining the fact that even though the time to
act is now and an urgency, tension, and immediacy defines the love and passion that the subject has
for the Mistress, a deeper and more profound realization of what defines love and the eternity of
passion and interest that the subject could direct for this Mistress if only she opened her heart and her
body to the subject is reflected in a variety of different ways. For instance, after the exhortation to stop
dismissing the advances of the suitor, Marvell references the fact that in so doing the woman would be
able to experience love as she had never before seen it. Ultimately, what is presented to the reader is
an argument for the immediacy, passion, and necessity to experience love in the moment. However,
due to the fact that a woman would likely find the emotion of immediacy and the need to seize the day
as alarming and definitive of a passing craze or crush, the poetry goes to great lengths to prove that the
nature of the emotions that are being defined are not short lived but will instead last for far longer than
life itself is able to exist. By means of contrast, John

Catholic Community
The Catholic Church is an ancient community that has been studied and analyzed since it s
beginnings, over two thousand years ago. When I was fourteen, I chose independently to be apart of
this community and learn it s specific, complex structure. It took me about five years to really get a
grasp on the functions of the Catholic Church and the community it provides. Entering, I believed the
Church was simply a place people gathered to worship, but over time it proved to be much more than
that. Being a member of the Catholic community meant, not only, being literate in the language of the
Church and the sacred, fundamental texts but additionally, being literate in the specific genres that
help the Catholic community accomplish its goals. Some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Equally as important as the old, customary texts are the new, ever changing ones. In my parish, and in

what the Catholic Church is doing in your community and how you can get involved. New Catholic
literature is being published every day, ranging anywhere from an a deeper understanding of the
Church to advice on how to live a life in accordance with the Church. There are an endless amount of
message boards and forums, Facebook groups, text message groups, the list continues. The importance
of writing and rhetoric within the Catholic community is immense. If new literature was never being
written, the Catholic community would cease to evolve and the mission of the Church could not be
achieved. The writings of all members, ordained or lay, are essential to the Catholic community. These
two categories of texts within the Catholic community, the old and the new , are not entirely separate,
though. Texts formed today by ordained ministers of the Church, teachers in the community, and lay
people are branches off of the initial texts that form the foundation of the Church. Recently published

community. Michael Rennier is a Catholic blogger who posts his writings on a Catholic

Why Do People Naturally Resist Change
People Naturally Resist Change
Change is an inevitable, it is difficult to ensure it occurs without any problems to your organization. It
is good to understand that resistance to change is a frequent and natural occurrence. The most
common reasons for resisting change are as follows:
Fear of the unknown.
When an organization is being subjected to change and the people have a hard time grasping the
details of the change. Rarely do they understand the impact on them directly, good or bad. This
unknown factor drives people to be naturally fearful. With this in mind leadership should be prepared
in advance for any such change so as to avoid unnecessary surprises (Jones, 2010).Keep in mind, In

Peer pressure influence.
It is important that we understand are working with all walks of life. The fact remains that we are
social creatures. Stakeholders in the organization will resist change to protect the interests of a group
(Dent, E.B, Goldenberg, 1999). Employees can resist change so as to protect their co workers (Oreg,
2003). I have even see where, Managers will resist change to protect their work group or personal
interest of others around them.
Parochial self interest
Virtually all organizational members can be expected to behave in ways that will maximize those
goals that they personally consider most important (Dent, E.B, Goldenberg, 1999). I feel it is
interesting to note proposals for change are interpreted as a threat to a personal status quo. Individuals
as well as groups are likely to resist usually believe they stand to lose something of value as a result.
In these circumstances the members of your organization will focus on the greater goal only to protect
their own self preservation. More often than not we lose site of the overall good for the organization
and lose focus on the overarching goal. Change often tends to make individuals feel threatened.
People are engraved to protect any disruption to power, money, prestige, convenience, and security
Climate of mistrust.
Important organizational change cannot take place in a climate of mistrust amongst people in the
organization (Jones, 2010). Trust is a two way

Should Seventeen Year Olds Be Allowed To Vote
People might suggest that let sixteen and seventeen years olds citizens should vote just so that the
teens can go in the habit of voting at an early age and of to show them how the voting system actually
works. Teenagers don t even have the responsibility to clean up for themselves and are being peer
pressured by their so called friends to do something dangerous. That doesn t sound like people that
can handle the idea of being able to change the world for the best or the worst with their vote. If even
the eighteens years olds that are legal to vote don t even vote so,what makes you think that by
lowering the voting age is going to make such a big impacted on whatever is that they are voting on.

was an exciting day for those teens to hear that they are going to be able to vote and to see how it feels

Intellect Vs Test Scores Essay
Intellect VS. Test Scores
Growing up, I never really had a problem with tests. I didn t necessarily enjoy taking them, however I
thankfully never got too apprehensive. I looked at them as a way to determine my intelligence, and
would gladly share my scores both good and bad with my peers. Looking back on my perception of
tests, I find that my point of view was ignorant to the fact that test scores whether they are
standardized or not do not determine a person s intellect. In the state of North Carolina, students take
their first standardized test in third the grade. Commonly known as the End of Grade test (EOG), its
purpose is to ...measure student performance on the goals, objectives, and grade level competencies
specified in the North Carolina Standard Course of Study. In layman s terms, this test is simply to see
if the student has met all of the requirements, and is fit to advance to the next grade level. A variety of

immigrants affected the ethnic diversity. Culture, language, and religion are different in many ethnic

happened during the late 19th century has led to an effect amongst the ethnic diversity in the United
Kingdom? In this paper internet sources contained many more accurate information. Books talked
very little about ethnic diversity in United Kingdom. In addition to talking about the 19th century

The Preservation Of Life In Solitude By Henry D. Thoreau
The preservation of nature is a very important topic in today s society. Everywhere from popular
media to politics, it is an often debated topic that if not taken seriously, it could mean the end of
nature, no, of life itself. Human beings although not always considered directly a part of nature, in
reality, are an integral composition of nature itself. However, mankind throughout the centuries has
wounded and destroyed nature. If viewed from a broader spectrum, they have been destroying
themselves. War, advancements in civilization, industrialization, and many more human developments
have brought nature life itself to the brink of annihilation. Nature is not only the home of the wildlife
that inhabit it, but has been man s home from their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Human beings have been blinded by modern society and its greed and thirst for power through war.
War and greed only causes unjustified damage to nature, life itself, and should be stopped. It is not
necessary for every human being to desert the comfort of their modern society and go live in the
wilderness. However, measures should be established to preserve and protect nature from monetary
greed; the unjustified elimination of Earths landscapes for profit driven means. There should always
be limits to deter the further destruction of our lands. Weapons capable of committing mass
destruction to nature should also be limited in their use and production; they not only kill nature, but
kill living beings including humans as well. If reasonable measures to preserve and protect nature
from warfare and greed can be established, at least to diminish the destruction caused, nature can go

Health Care Laws And Policies That Exist
At Well Care Hospital we strive to provide the best care possible and aim to set the bar when it comes

this goal we must be aware of the health care laws and policies that exist, so that we can not only be in
compliance, but exceed the standard. We also need to have set plans and committees set in place in
order to achieve professional conduct throughout the hospital, educate our staff on the ethics of this

We need to emphasize these policies because there are laws that exist to protect both patients and

If our staff do not adhere to the standards that this administration has laid out for them, then there

The Cultural Impact Of Technology
The world today is very different from the world our grandparents lived in. There are a lot of
advancements in technology that make things obviously different, but there are also many changes in
our culture and society that has been affected by technological changes that many people fail to
realize. One film that showcases the cultural impact of technology is the movie Hackers, directed by
Lain Softley. The film is centered around the latest technology available (in 1995 when the film was
released) and the growing culture centered around the elite hacker community. The premise of the film
is that a group of hackers are being framed for a virus that was launched to capsize ships if a demand
for five million dollars was not met. The group of hackers work together to prove that they are
innocent by hacking into the database of a major corporation. In that database is the virus that was
created by the company s head of cyber security that was supposed to steal a total of twenty five
million dollars. The ships that were to be destroyed were all linked through satellite connections. Each
ship is automatically guided and managed by a central computer. While it is commonplace for
companies today to use satellite guidance systems and remote access to onboard computers, the movie
does nudge the story along by making the whole system extremely vulnerable. Such things like three
character passwords and single centralized command centers are obvious flaws with the system used

then we would need a tube of 10.4m to measure the atmospheric temperature but if we use mercury

its large range of the boiling and melting points, it helps us to measure a large range of temperature. It

The Significance Of Physical Education Essay
The Significance of Physical Education in American Schools
Review
Hommes, Tiffany J., Bemidji State University, USA
Background Many children in America do not receive the needed amount of physical activity needed
to maintain a healthy weight. Approximately17% of children are obese (Robert Wood Johnson
Foundation, 2016) and one in three children are overweight or obese (American Heart Association,
2016). This is a local and national emergency that needs to be addressed to keep children healthy,
prevent morbidities, and control the costs that are associated with being overweight or obese. Pre
diabetes, type 2 diabetes, and hypertension in children is at an all time high. However, research
indicates that only 3.8 percent of American elementary schools provide daily physical education
(Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, 2007). This paper will discuss the importance of daily physical
education in our schools. There is an abundance of support to provide daily physical education in our
schools. First Lady Michelle Obama is leading a national initiative called Let s Move to reverse the
childhood obesity epidemic. One of the initiatives in Let s Move is to increase physical activity (Let s
Move!) In fact, Healthy People 2020 has objectives to increase the portion of the America s private
and public schools that require daily physical education (U.S. Department of Health and Human

his mother or anyone else and by trying to defy everything that is expected of him. The call to his
father is a something that he thinks that will help him find himself by getting to know his father. After
being denied his father he ransacks his father s office now denying that part of his life and in a way
saying that he does not want to become his father. Gary is also trying to establish his own sexual
identity and is confused by some of the feeling that he has been having. The suspicious paper bag he
has been carrying around just happens to be adult movies that he has been using to educate himself on

Transitioning From An Undergraduate Level Course
Transitioning from an undergraduate level course to a graduate level at Kutztown University can be
extremely overwhelming for many students. From enrolling in challenging courses that prompt
students to over succeed in materials, to professors enforcing and enabling students to perform certain
aspects and or skills can be extremely overbearing and difficult at times. Nonetheless, within each
course subject the outcomes are substantial and rewarding, for each student accomplishes a new asset
that will only supplement them in their future field of study. As for my personal learning experience
within my first semester graduate course I believe I have not only gained a sustainable amount of
information, but also a better understanding in the field of mental health counseling. In particular,
from my first semester I believe my fundamentals course not only gave me a new insight within the
field but also a hands on experience by encouraging and embarking me into the counseling process. In
fact, before entering Kutztown University Fundamental s graduate course with Dr. Arena I had very
little experience and skills within the subject of counseling. Prior to the course I only had one
undergraduate course, which looked at an introduction level to clinical psychology, and a summer job,
which entitled me as a unit counselor for a Girl Scout day camp. During these two experiences I was
able to gain a brief understanding of the certain

The Atlantic And The Indian Oceans
Moreover, this peninsula gave Russia access to the Mediterranean Sea and from there to both the
Atlantic and the Indian Oceans. In order to get this strategic objective, Russia conducted a very
complex operation that shook the whole world and changed the way the international security is
viewed. However, it was not only the capabilities of the Russian Army planners and troops that made
the operation a success. Multiple factors played a crucial role and ultimately facilitated the seizure of
the Crimean Peninsula. Understanding these factors is very important, especially for countries that
Russia considers as being within its interest zone, like Georgia, Moldova, etc. The following
paragraphs explain the factors and how they facilitated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Among these tribes were Mongols and the Byzantines. Golden Horde, the Tatars, settled in Crimea in
the 15th century. The Tatars are considered Crimean natives. Although they later became Turkish
vassals, they remained very powerful and culture oriented. (Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia 2013,
12). Until the Stalin era, the peninsula had been invaded by other countries, like Russia and Germany
(in World War 1). However, it became part of the USSR in 1921. Same as the other Soviet Republics,
the native population was sent to other parts of the USSR, while native Russians were brought to the
peninsula. The purpose was obvious Russification (a form of cultural assimilation of a nation, making
them pro Russian) of the occupied or annexed territory (Ahsan 2015, 27). While in the Soviet Union,
Crimea became part of the Russian Republic in 1945. Later, it was transferred to Ukraine in 1954 and
remained part of it after the collapse of the Soviet Union. All these historical facts are important
because they show how much different all the countries that conquer, colonized or annexed the
peninsula were. Furthermore, all these countries, especially USSR, were trying to influence and even
displace the population. By the end of WWII, only 25% of the local population were Tatars and in
2001 even worse only 12% of the total population were Tatars. Meanwhile, the percentage of Russians
increased to 59% (Piticar 2014, 439). According to the above demographics, in

  • 2. Urban Inequality Urban Inequality It is said that you should once live in a big city as it s an experience of a lifetime. Urban spaces have so many things to offer: great restaurants, concerts and festivals, and malls and museums. Surely, you have heard of stories about people especially teenagers who want to escape the dull lives of suburbia and make their ways to a big city. Urban life and urban space have been glamorized by films, televisions, and music: Sex And The City (2008), Gossip Girl (2007 2012), Empire State of Mind, etc. However, some filmmakers step out of the glitz and the glamor and reveal the dark side of urban spaces. Roger and Me (1989), Wall Street, and A Civil Action (1998) exhibit the truth of corporate capitalism that creates indifference towards inequality in the urban landscape. Roger and Me by Michael Moore is a feature length documentary film that follows the closure of General Motors plant in Flint, Michigan. Moore attempts to meet with Roger Smith, chairman of General Motors, over the GM plant closure which resulted in the loss of 30,000 jobs in his hometown. The documentary consists of sarcastic juxtapose of interviews of auto workers as well as those of both wealthy and working class Flint residents. Correspondingly, Wall Street by A E Television Network is a short biography video on the subject of the history of Wall Street and how it operates. Similarly, A Civil Action by Steven Zaillian is a feature length drama/thriller film that based on a true story. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Christine Wilkie Stibb Christine Wilkie Stibb s The Outside Child In And Out Of The Book examines the construction of the child subject within a text, and contextualizes that construction by connecting to historical, social and political events outside the text. She does this by taking real world (ie: historical, social and political) instances and connecting them to each book. Each chapter focuses on a different construction of the child outsider: outsider (the child as subject and the creation of subjectivity); displaced (refugees and asylum seekers); erased (subjecting the child s body to public gaze and erasure of his or her identity); abject (those expelled from the hierarchies); unattached (loss of parents and idea of home, moving from one place to another, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This chapter explores the stories of immigrants and refugees, or other asylum seekers. She explains they are works of literature, not case histories, but they do more than exploit for the purposes of entertainment the sorts of distressful situations in which some real children find themselves. Literature at its best is what most convinces us of the realities of other people s identities and selfhoods, so that these novels, responsibly written and attempting authenticity, act as powerful and memorable case histories which are as true as, or truer than, factually accurate ones. (26) Upon looking at the UNCRC mentioned above Wilkie Stibbs examines the westernized and industrialized construction of the child and childhood that anyone under eighteen is a child, and they shall be protected (24). However, in historical documents references, including the French Revolution s 1795 Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen, and bringing up the idea of child labor and child soldiers, each nation has its own conception of what it is to be a child. To give some insight into the scale of the problem posed by the serial killer, in the United States can be gained from examining the statistics for just one year. In 1989 (the last year for which detailed figures are available) there were 21,500 recorded homicides, of which some 5,000 are unsolved. Unofficial sources believe that as many as a hundred serial killers may be at large at any given time. Add to this the number of known victims of serial killers, then between 3,500 and 5,000 people are killed by serial murderers every year. (Lane and Gregg 3) These numerous multiple murders, often without consequence and justice, have shocked civilized ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Characteristics of a serial killer are imperative in demarcating the type of person capable of committing a serial murder. quot; Most known serial killers are 25 35 years old quot; (Falk 85). quot;It is also significant that the victims of serial murderers are not concentrated in any age range quot; (Falk 85). quot;Serial killings are almost always committed by white males instead of blacks because class resentment is far more likely to occur to a person with a good education than someone without an appreciation of how society works quot; (Falk 85). To truly understand the phenomenon of serial murder one must know what motivates a person to commit such a horrendous crime. Patterns of serial killing fall broadly into two categories of motivation: quot;Extrinsic, where the impulse to kill is located outside the killer s psyche that is, he perceives a rational reason for murder in outside situations and events quot; (Fox and Levin 12). quot;More frequently the motivation is intrinsic to the psyche of the killer, whether or not that motivation is apparent to an independent observer quot; (Fox and Levin 12). Closer psychological analysis of known cases indicates that serial murders fit into one of four main types according to the predominate homicidal motivation: Visionaries, Missionaries, Hedonists, and Power Seekers. The Klamath River Basin, like much of the western United States, has much federal influence because of the prevalence of federal lands in the basin. The policy making bodies within the Klamath make decisions based on the missions and interests of their individual agencies, and sometimes these missions can be contradictory(Wilson 2010). Evaluation of the roles of federal agencies and the differences in agency policy is vital for understanding management in the refuges. • 9. The Media s Portrayal Of Asian Americans Throughout history, the media has been known to be influential towards how individuals of society perceive the world and their environment. This influence can lead to people creating prejudices towards those who are highlighted by the media. It also has the ability to change the attitude of one person towards another class of people and stereotype them in positive, but mostly negative ways. One population that has played victim to the repercussions of the mass media is Asian Americans, who have been oppressed and deemed a minority by Americans. The media s portrayal of Asian Americans has had detrimental effects on one s opportunities, performance, and their perception of the world. The mass media consists of any means of communication that has the ability to reach a large amount of people. The term media can refer to movies, television, the newspaper, etc. It is because of it s ability to out reach to a mass quantity of people that it is able to reinforce and teach societal values. At a young age, socialization occurs in that it involves the learning of the values and the norms of society and adopting them into their own personal values (Perse, 2001.) Children often have little life experience so they learn and imitate their environment whether that be the characters on television or societal institutions like their families or teachers at school. • 11. Judith Jarvis Thomson s A Defense Of Abortion Essay Judith Jarvis Thomson s A Defense of Abortion is a uniquely reasoned argument for the right to abortion that uses strong analogies to challenge pro life arguments that are based on the premise that a human life begins at the moment of conception. In this paper I will argue that Thomson is correct in her view and that her analogies solidify her argument, which then becomes impervious to criticism from philosophers like Keith J. Pavlischek or David B. Hershenov who bring up other factors irrelevant to Thomson argument that are easily disputable by facts. Thomson starts her paper by clarifying that while she does not agree with the premise that life begins at the moment of conception she is willing to accept it in her argument to prove that it is a counterpoint to abortion that is as weak as the rest of the pro life argument. In her essay, Thomson uses three major analogies to illustrate different scenarios to which abortion would be considered. The Violinist Analogy describes a pregnancy that has been induced by rape and, foreshadows to a section later in the essay, where she goes into detail about where the line is drawn when two innocent lives are at risk and what is the third party s role in the problem solving. There is a tremendous amount of behaviors we do in modern America that would have never been considered acceptable years ago. Social norms that have changed excessively throughout American history are being affiliated with the LGBT community, dating, relationships, and premarital sex. The age of individuals taking part in premarital sex is declining, and people are partaking in sexual acts at much younger ages. There is a highly unrealistic goal to encourage all Americans to abstain from sex until they marry (Finer 2). This is a highly unrealistic goal; the amount of people having premarital sex may lower, but getting all Americans to abstain is a nearly impossible goal. A 2002 survey showed that seventy five percent of people aged 20 had premarital sex. The same survey portrayed participants aged 44 and it showed that ninety five percent had sex before marrying. The survey showed that only around three percent of people abstained until marriage (Finer 3). Premarital sex also differs in the different sexes. Males were more likely to participate in premarital sex than women. This statistic is still common today. Premarital sex seemed to play a major role in relationships all the way back to the 1940s, it just depended on what age they did the act. • 14. The Metaphors Used In The Crucible By Arthur Miller Webster s dictionary defines a crucible as a vessel of a very refractory material (as porcelain) used for melting and calcining a substance that requires a high degree of heat. This means that since ancient times, something such as a pot of clay could be used as a container for melting metals or other materials under a great deal of heat, burning away any and all impurities to get a rather purified product. Relevant to our day and society, a courtroom may sometimes be referred to as a crucible. This is because a courtroom is where irrelevancies, lies or half truths are burned away under harsh questioning or scrutiny until the purest product, which in this case is the total and complete truth, is all that remains. Likewise, in Arthur Miller s play The Crucible, Miller uses an analogy between a crucible and the events that take place in the town of Salem, Massachusetts to exemplify the severe tests or trials that occur as an entire puritan community, under mass hysteria, is facing a series of daunting trials that are meant to fish out any accused witches that supposedly have sold their souls to the devil. Miller s metaphor compares the actual crucible to the town of Salem, the continents of the crucible to the people who face false accusations of witchcraft, and the heat used fo to purify the continents of a crucible to the character s actions and emotions that fuel the trials and like events that take place in the play. ... • 15. How Does Saving Affect The Economy CHAPTER 1 AN INTRODUCTION TO RESEARCH METHODOLOGY 1.1 Statement of the Research Problem Consumption and saving play an important role in the world economy and what determines consumption and saving is income. As Keynes pointed out, When individuals are saving their money, they are actually hurting the economy because saving reduces aggregate demand and thus reduces company revenue . From this study, it is seen that one s expenditure becomes another s income. On the other hand, saving is also important because of future consumption which has to be maintained for meeting any kind of emergency or to be able to face any level of risks and uncertainties. For this very reason precautionary saving has become very essential for migrants since migrants face higher risks and uncertainties than the local people who do not have to worry so much about their future. In today s scenario, the study shows that with increase in migration, there is an increase in the total spending within the economy which leads to an increase in the supply of labour and increase in demand. Therefore, an increase in spending within the economy brings about an increase in the GDP. Generally individuals or households look at the prices of the products and the quality before making a purchase because price of commodities determines their consumption behaviour. How much they save depends on how much they earn and how much they consume. Consumption and saving behaviour differ from place to place. A person ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Not only must students sit in a class where these subjects are taught, but they also need to master the material before they move on to the next grade. This is the job of the teacher. It is up to the teacher to make sure that his students understand the material and can do it on their own before he moves on to something else. I believe that the grade a student makes reflects the teacher. If a student makes an F, the teacher has failed in his teaching of that student. Language is very powerful and the ones who are talented hold deep responsibility. This power can be extremely positive or extremely detrimental to a society as whole. Dialect between one another can help others unite, while having the hazard of manipulation, or even brainwashing. A legendary example of the use of language is Animal Farm, the novel written by George Orwell. The objective in using language is to bring people together. In Animal Farm, the pigs brought the animals together to rebel against Jones. In Chapter One, Old Major and the pigs show leadership and bring forth ideas to overthrow Jones. This is an example of others coming together for a common good through language. In the middle of this historic novel, the animals finally gain control of the farm. In chapter three, the pigs had to use language to encourage the other animals to farm for their peers. Once Animal Farm practically became an empire, the citizens of the farm started their first huge project: building a windmill. This is another example of how the guidance of good language can help communities accomplish massive goals. Air Canada s mission has always remained the same, connecting Canada and world (Air Canada, 2016), but their visions and goals, have transformed. Air Canada s early strategy was to grow the business, with minimal concern about their staff members and customers. Without any benefits or rewards their staff felt underappreciated. Their customers felt as though their feedback wasn t being heard but in the eyes of Air Canada as long as their business was expanding, they were satisfied. This was evident with the purchase of Canadian Airlines, in 1999 (The National, 2003). With the purchase of this airline, Air Canada also inherited their estimated eight billion dollar debt (The National, 2003). Also inherited from the merger, were underappreciated employees and under trained employees who lacked morale (The National, 2003). In 2003, Air Canada filed for bankruptcy (The National, 2003), this was due to the large financial deficit, the economy and the underappreciated/paid employees. Although, this was a difficult time for the airline, this truly marked the change in how the airline is structured. Each specifies a deadline year (2020 or 2030) for being in progress or completed, which helps to measure the timeline for the goal. The target is measurable but not specific enough. Financial resources in 15a are quantifiable but the financial resources used and the amount of money is not stated anywhere, therefore it is not explicit enough. 15b mentions mobilizing all resources but it does not mention which resources and how much of each resource is needed. For instance, after the exhortation to stop dismissing the advances of the suitor, Marvell references the fact that in so doing the woman would be able to experience love as she had never before seen it. Ultimately, what is presented to the reader is an argument for the immediacy, passion, and necessity to experience love in the moment. However, due to the fact that a woman would likely find the emotion of immediacy and the need to seize the day as alarming and definitive of a passing craze or crush, the poetry goes to great lengths to prove that the nature of the emotions that are being defined are not short lived but will instead last for far longer than life itself is able to exist.
