Psychological Capital In The Military Essay
The military is unified under the ethos of mission and teamwork that helps to establish task and
purpose while also molding a service members identity. Therefore, two issues military leaders must
address are psychological capital and social loafing.
Psychological Capital The military must develop and sustain positive psychological capital as this is
instrumental to establishing and maintaining a service members signature strengths. Individuals with
high levels of positive psychological capital (PsyCap) possess considerable hope, efficacy, resilience,
and optimism (HERO) (Kinicki Fugate, 2018). Therefore, military leaders must understand the effects
of psychological capital on job performance and organizational commitment as negative experiences
and external environment changes can produce negative psychological influences. For example,
negative psychological influences include toxic leadership and the strain and stress from multiple
deployments to multiple battlespaces which has called for service members to be resilient in the ever
changing world of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, leaders should look towards a work design that is covenantal and promotes variety in skill
while having a defined task and purpose for each subordinate. Covenantal work design can be
accomplished by making the task or mission more meaningful by affirming the individuals to affirm
the group (Fischer, 2018). By fostering an environment where subordinates have the ability to see an
issue and engage it, leaders affirm individual subordinates and transform a work group into a work
team. Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will
lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up
(Ecclesiastes 4:9 10, English Standard Version). Therefore, an individual with a team player mentality
deters social loafing and creates positive psychological

Suspected Ischemic Cardiac Chest Pain In Emergency Department
Suspected Ischemic Cardiac Chest Pain in Emergency Department Patients:
Nursing Initiated Advanced Interventions Josh Greene, Colin Dilts Julia Christensen

Non injury acute and potentially ischemic chest pain is among the more common reasons that adults
present to the emergency department, accounting for over 8 million visits every year in the United
States (Hoffmann et al., 2012). Patients presenting with this symptom are screened with triage history,
vital signs, physical exam, electrocardiogram (EKG), chest x ray, coronary computerized tomography
angiography (CTA), and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
New onset ST elevation is indicative of a myocardial infarction and is a condition that often requires
either fibrinolytic therapy or angioplasty (O Gara et al., 2013). The principal methods for determining
acute coronary syndrome include the EKG and the cardiac enzyme troponin (O Gara et al., 2013). The
rapid ordering of these tests is especially useful during busy periods when there are delays in rooming
a patient and receiving an evaluation by a physician.
When there may be a delay in seeing a physician, advanced nursing interventions are standing
protocols that allow nurses to immediately initiate tests and treatments for specific conditions such as
chest pain. Overcrowded emergency departments with long wait times to see a physician have
compelled improvements in the rapid assessment and screening for those patients that may require
immediate medical intervention (Stauber, 2013). These protocols followed by triage nurses for helping
assess or provide treatment to emergency department patients before being seen by a provider have
been shown to be an effective method for improving department flow, identifying life threatening
conditions, improving patient satisfaction and outcomes, reducing time to treatment (Retezar,
Bessman, Ding, Zeger, McCarthy, 2011) and time to seen by a physician (Douma, Drake, O
Dochartaigh, Smith, 2016). The primary advanced nursing

The Worlds Of The Last Man Essay
In the worlds of The Last Man by Marry Shelly and A Handmaid s Tale by Margaret Atwood, the lives
of the survivors of the apocalypse are thrown into chaos. In The Last Man, the people of England are
driven out of their native home by the plague and forced into the desolate wasteland that is Europe. In
A Handmaid s Tale, Gilead society has torn Offred away from her past life and severed all her
connections to it. In these troubled times, characters turn to religion either by force or their own free
will. In apocalyptic scenarios in literature, the fragmentation of memories make the victims of the
event susceptible to the controlling influence of religion. Over the course of the novel, Offred
continuously reminds the reader of stories of what she was taught by the Aunts at the Red Center.
Offred recalls her old life I think about laundromats. What I wore to them: shorts, jeans, jogging pants.
What I put into them: my own clothes, my own soap, my own money, money I had earned myself. I
think about having such control. Now we walk along the same street, in red pairs, and no man shouts
obscenities at us, speaks to us, touches us. No one whistles. There is more than one kind of freedom,
said Aunt Lydia. Freedom to and freedom from. In the days of anarchy, it was freedom to. Now you
are being given freedom from. Don t underrate it (Atwood 24). Here, Offred remembers the objects of
her previous life. However, these reminders of the past are not presented in a positive light.

Bigger Thomas In Native Son
Bigger Thomas is a fictional, 20 year old, Negro male living in Chicago during the Great Depression.
This character, created by Richard Wright in Native Son, became assigned with the job of giving
insight to the life of a black American male during the 1930s. Bigger lived a life in which he made
decisions on impulse, fueled by his emotions. No action Bigger completed became carried out with
proper thought and rationality, thus, ultimately ending in his imprisonment and, furthermore, his
death. Through the telling of Bigger s life, Wright shows what influences created a man such as
Bigger. In doing this, Wright proves that Bigger Thomas cannot exist as more than a symbol used to
highlight the oppression the black race faced post Civil War. Wright himself had to endure the racism
and prejudice during this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bigger acted irrationally, suffocating Mary on accident in order to prevent himself from getting
caught. He then took her down to the basement and attempted to place her in the furnace. After
realizing her head would not fit in the furnace, he whacked at the bone with the knife. The head hung
limply on the newspapers, the curly black hair dragging about in blood. He whacked harder, but the
head would not come off (Wright, 92). This act of extreme violence is exactly what Wright intended to
show. This act of taboo contrasted greatly from what was seen and expected of the Negro man during
this time. The act of Bigger raping and killing Bessie also shows Wright s usage of shock value.
Bigger and Bessie hide out in an abandoned home after the police comes to the realization that Bigger
killed Mary. As they hide out, Bigger sees Bessie as a liability and comes to the conclusion that he
must kill her. As he smashes her head in with the

Comparison Of Ethos And Pathos In Advertising
In today s age, advertisements are found in almost every situation. These advertisements are found in a
multitude of different places, including places such as billboards, newspapers, and on the television.
Advertisements are most successful if they incorporate ethos, pathos, and logos into the message they
are trying to present. Ethos is the credibility of an advertisement, pathos is the emotional appeal of an
advertisement, and logos is the logic found in the advertisement. This paper will show the similarities
and differences in pathos, logos, and ethos found in two separate Budweiser advertisements.
Ethos, pathos, and logos are all rhetorical appeals, meaning that they are used to assist the speaker or
writer in harnessing rhetoric. Clark (2016) considers rhetoric as a tool meant for persuasion as well as
for creating effective arguments. Rhetoric became extremely popular during the golden age of Greece,
and most elite young men in Greek city states such as Athens were trained to utilize rhetoric to their
fullest abilities (Clark, 2016). Plato, an ancient Greek philosopher, believed that rhetoricians those
who used rhetoric to influence and sway opinions used rhetoric irresponsibly (Clark, 2016). Rhetoric
certainly did not die out with the passing of time and is still found in today s modern era.
Of these three appeals, pathos is the most prevalent in both advertisements. An inherent form of
pathos in the Budweiser commercial was the relationship between a puppy and

Who Is Andrew Carnegie A Hero
A role model is somebody who people look up to due to their extraordinary work, experiences or
personality. Every individual have at least one person they look up to and have the motivation to
follow on their footsteps. Andrew Carnegie, a classic individual who can define the phrase Rags to
Riches . In some perspective, he can be seen as heroic and kind, however, there are those who see him
as a selfish individual. Andrew Carnegie was both a hero and a villain, considering he was a
philanthropist, he knows what it was like to be poor and the way he treats his employees. Andrew
Carnegie was born as poor as anybody can be back in the day. He lived in an attic above his father s

someone should have a great knowledge on how much they earn and how much it can affect their

Carnegie was a genius businessman, why would he give his employees an unhealthy environment. His
employees would work on such terrible conditions. On document 6 one stated the men call this the
deathtrap . The examples of how these workers were badly treated does not seem to belong to such a
great businessman. Andrew Carnegie was both a hero and a villain, considering he was a
philanthropist, he knows what it was like to be poor and the way he treats his employees. In some
aspect, he was indeed a hero and it does seem he care about the humanity, which is why he had so
many charities and foundations. He is even considered the original philanthropist. Despite all the
evidence on why Andrew Carnegie was a villain, he was a hero in many individual s eyes. Andrew

Replacing the Current Income Tax Structure with the FairTax Plan
It is the general agreement of tax payers everywhere that the current tax system is way too
complicated. You either need to have a certified public accountant help you do them or a specialized
tax program to walk you through it. Not only that, but the costs associated with having someone
prepare your taxes or buying the specialized computer program needed to navigate the myriad of
entangled tax codes and laws can become quite expensive. But it is not only expensive for us, the
individual tax payer, but it is also expensive for businesses and it is extremely expensive for the
Federal government. Not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The President placed upon the panel stipulations as to what types of recommendations could be made,
such as reducing the cost of compliance, having to base at least one recommendation on the current
tax structure and that all recommendations had to be revenue neutral, meaning they had to be able to
collect the same amount of taxes that the government was projected to collect under the current tax
structure. Unfortunately, due to those stipulations imposed upon the panel, they were limited in what
they could recommend. Even in today s environment, in a news article by Fox Business, President
Trump has recently talked about a major tax reform.
Unfortunately, all of these reforms are simply trying to patch up the current income tax system when
what is really needed is a complete replacement to a new tax system. One of the better alternative tax
systems being proposed is the National Retail Sales Tax (NRST), also known as the FairTax.
The FairTax plan, which was originally introduced back in 1999, was reintroduced by House
Representative John Linder and Senator Saxby Chambliss in 2007. It proposes to replace the current
income tax system, which includes personal income, corporate income, estate and gift, capital gains,
alternative minimum tax, Social Security, Medicare, and self employment

God s Fourth Speech With Noah
Introduction
God s fourth speech with Noah (9:1 17) is a cluster of three sub speeches, which will be further
explored in this analysis. Similar aspects of Genesis 1 are echoed; a new cosmic order is installed,
initiating a pre creation period. God blesses the humans and commissions them to take domination
over all creatures. This passage is of great importance to not just the Genesis story but also the Old
Testament as a whole. I will further depict central meanings throughout the passage, as well as
investigate literary aspects in order to grasp a greater understanding of this chapter.
Covenants are the promise and obligation between two or more people. At the beginning of this
chapter in the Genesis, the Covenant between God and Noah ... Show more content on

(5:1 9:29) The opening line Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth (Ge 9:1) establishes a
start in a significant period of time. While Adam and Eve were asked a similar command from God,
their sins and disobedience was the end of the beginning.
The Noahic covenant is the covenant that God made with Noah after he left the ark, sealed with a
rainbow, that He would never again destroy the earth with a flood. The narrative of Noah and the Ark
is one of the most well known stories from the Old Testament. In some of its artistic representations, it
is characterised as a story of an old man who takes pairs of animals onto an ark to ride out an
incredible flood, safely coming to rest as a rainbow appears in the sky. Whilst the essence of this is
recorded in the Genesis account of the Flood, the biblical narrative is much more than this unusual
story. It is a narrative written in the context of an Israelite community, striving to understand and
interpret the way their God works in and through both humanity and the world God has created for all.

Richard Rodriguez Hunger Of Memory Analysis
Remedial Reading Richard Rodriguez, in the passage Remedial Reading from his autobiography
Hunger of Memory (1982), promotes active reading as a developer of one s mind. He justifies his
position by describing his initial experiences with reading, specifically his attachment to the reading.
Rodriguez s anecdote functions as an encourager of stubborn minds trying to read and displaying its
potential to change their life for the better. Rodriguez uses a very descriptive style that may be too
verbose for children but compliments the verbosity with enough explanation of his purpose for his
message to be known or ascertained. The Gramercy Gym Edward Hoagland, in the passage The
Gramercy Gym (1985) from his book Heart s Desire , asserts that boxing is a sport on the decline. He
supports his assertion by describing a gym in New York throughout time. His account chronicles how
the gym is not the same energetic site it once was. Hoagland s audience includes sports enthusiasts
who particularly enjoy and want to preserve boxing, his writing would be confusing to people
unacquainted with boxing, as its jargon is riddled in the passage. The Great American Desert Edward
Abbey, in the passage The Great American Desert from his book The Journey Home (1977), asserts
that the desert is a terrible place but should still be benefited from because of its solitary nature. He
portrays the desert as a horrific place that no one would like to be in. He then describes the desert as a
quiet place to be enjoyed. His audience includes environmentalists and those who love nature. A Few
Words for Motherhood Wendell Berry, in his essay A Few Words for Motherhood (), displays the
grace and awe of animal birth. He recounts one of his cows giving birth in his barn, he expresses the
sentiments he felt: wonder and joy. He presents the cow, who amazingly knew exactly how to confront
giving birth with no prior experience. His writing is for everyone interested in animals and animal
birth. Here is New York E.B. White, in the essay Here is New York (1948) implies that there are three
different perspectives of New York, including that of the natural born New Yorker, that of the New
York commuter, and

Social Penetration Essay
Social Penetration Theory The Social Penetration Theory is an explanation by two communication
theorists, Irwin Altman and Dalmas Taylor. This theory attempts to explain how relational closeness
develops. Since we all have hundreds of different relationships, with thousands of different people
during our lifetime, it is an important theory to study and understand. The Social Penetration Theory
can be compared to an onion. The comparison stems from the idea that an onion has many layers, just
like a human s personality. There is an outside layer that is visible to everyone, but underneath that
there are several layers that get deeper and deeper. All of us have met people for the first time, and

The first stage of the Social Penetration Process is the orientation stage which occurs at a public level,
revealing small parts about ourselves. Rose and Jack enter this stage when Jack sees Rose standing at
the edge of the boat. He approached her for the first time and talked her out of committing suicide.
The only interaction they have at this stage is an introduction. The next day, Rose finds Jack and
thanks him for helping her. While talking they seem to disclose more and more information about each
other. They now enter the exploratory stage. They now expand to public areas about themselves about
their hobbies and personal situations. Jack and Rose were quite comfortable with each other and
entered the third stage of the process; the affective exchange stage. Social penetration in this stage is
spontaneous and comfortable. They begin to show reciprocity, which is when one person s openness
leads to the others openness. Jack does this by asking if she loves her fiancĂŠ, a very personal question.
It seems as if the more they disclose about each other, the more they like each other, and the more they
seem to have in common. This leads Jack and Rose into the stable exchange stage which pertains to
complete openness and spontaneous. At this point in the movie it is evident that both Jack and Rose
have feelings for each other. At this layer in the relationship, we can look at the cost and rewards of
the situation. The cost of Rose

Curriculum Of The Other Woman
As Luce Irigaray identifies, in her book Speculum of the Other Woman, Antigone is caught in a
puzzling paradox of both intentionally committing her crime with full knowledge of her act, while at
the same time remaining completely ignorant and unconscious of the law. She says, what an amazing
vicious circle in a single syllogistic system. Whereby the unconscious while remaining unconscious, is
yet supposed to know the laws of a consciousness which is permitted to remain ignorant of it and will
become even more repressed as a result of failing to respect those laws (223). For Hegel, women do
not have the ability to conceptualize ethical duty due to their inescapable nature. How is it that
Antigone is guilty by virtue of her intentional crime, while remaining ignorant by virtue of her
unconsciousness of the law? Kelly Oliver, in her article Antigone s Ghost, suggests that one can
speculate if it is at this stage of the dialectic where women become conscious, however, she rightly
indicates that this is an impossible scenario because unlike men, women are unable to break free from
nature (Oliver, 79). The feminine is bound to the family and remains unconscious to her acts as
ethical.
Because women are restrained by nature to the divine law, the only type of knowledge women can
have of committing a crime and the guilt associated with a crime is intuitive knowledge. At this point
of the phenomenology (and arguably at no point in the phenomenology), women do not have a

KP Video 6: Research Aim, Purpose and Hypotheses
This web based training is presented by Gretchen J. Summer RN, PhD. It is the sixth video in a series
of twenty that discuss nursing research. Here, she addresses the significance of research aim, purpose,
and hypotheses, which are crucial components in conducting research. Understanding these concepts
can help readers better understand research literature in order to make it applicable to practice. It can
also be useful in helping conduct future nursing research.
A research topic is defined as a concept or broad issue that is important. For example, in nursing
research a topic can be acute or chronic pain management, coping with illness, or health promotion.
Within each research topic, there is a potential for numerous research problems that in return can
result is different research studies. Usually, research problems guide the type of research methodology
the study will have. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Aims answer the research question or hypothesis but often encompass broader targets such as
constructing recommendations for changes to nursing practice based on the results of a study. It is not
uncommon for research aims/objectives to not be expressed in research reports. More commonly, they
are found in written research proposals that detail plans for a research study before the research
begins.
A research purpose can be seen as a formal purpose statement in most research studies. This statement
can usually be captured in one to two sentences is can be interpreted as the essence of the study. The
purpose statement establishes the general direction of the research and provides a summary of its
overall purpose. The words purpose or goal typically appear in the purpose

The Main Theme Of Animal Liberation By Peter Singer
The main theme of Animal Liberation by Peter Singer is summarized in one quote by Isaac Bashevis
Singer, In their behavior towards creatures, all men [are] Nazis (84). Singer spends the whole book
attempting to prove that Nazis and the abusers of animals are the same. He does this by talking about
scientific testing and the way animals are treated before being killed for their meat. He dives into the
specifics of what happens during animal testing and animals killed for meat in order to appeal to the
humanity of the reader in order to exploit it. By exploiting the humanity of the reader Singer attempts
to guilt the reader into becoming a vegetarian. Singer deciphers how the ability for animals to feel has
been used scientifically but never accepted. He cites scientific trials such as the trials conducted by
Gillette on rabbits. In 1986 an employee at the lab of Gillette released photos of the tests on rabbits to
see the toxicity and effect of the toxicity on eyes. The rabbits eyes were swollen and bleeding after
having the ink put into their eyes. In another experiment pigs in England were put into decompression
chambers. The pigs were subjected to up to an 81 periods of decompression in nine months.
Experiments like these have caused large parallels to be drawn between the treatment of the Jewish
people in the Holocaust. In a similar experiment a Nazi scientist placed a human into a decompression
chamber and saw how they reacted. The scientists experimented on

Quality Of Measures
This paper will highlight the information epidemiologists utilize to evaluate the quality of measures
used in research as well as provide reasons why the quality of measures are essential and finally
explain how epidemiologists ensure the measures used in research are of good quality.
a. What type of information do epidemiologists use to judge/evaluate the quality of their measures?
Tests for validity and reliability are the criteria mostly used by epidemiologists to judge the quality of
measures used in research. Reliability of the measure shows that when different observers use the
measure at different occasions, they will obtain similar test results (1). For example, a measure that
determines weight gain among male adults in Saskatoon ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The standards of acceptable reliability which epidemiologists seeks to attain include internal
consistency exceeding 0.8 and stability measures greater than 0.5 (3), nevertheless, even if the internal
consistency of a measure is low, it is better the measure has high stability and content validity.
Validity tests involve ensuring that the instrument is measuring what the epidemiologist intended (4),
validity has several components including content and construct validity. Validity of the measure at
minimum can be assessed subjectively by expert opinion of one or more experts in the field of study,
where experts review the measure to determine if the instrument appears to be assessing the desired
qualities (Face Validity) or determining whether the instrument samples all the relevant content
(Content Validity) (3).
Additionally, constructs are mini theories used to assist in developing a new or better instrument in
order to explain a broader range of findings or make more accurate predictions about a person s
behavior. Hence, when no other measures exist, the epidemiologist can link an attribute measured to
another attribute by a hypothesis or construct and test the instrument by applying it to a sample to
determine if the expected relationship is obtained; this is regarded as construct validity. For example;
if a test for blood sugar was devised because there is no other test

The Quest For Inclusion By Minorities And Conscientious...
In James Buck essay, citizenship and Military Service: The Quest for inclusion by Minorities and
conscientious Objectors , he discusses why every citizen in this our liberal democracies should be
given equal status and recognitions in our political communities. He makes his analysis by comparing
the various researches other social and political scientist have made about citizenship in the eighteenth
centuries and how political inequalities have limited or change the realization of equal claim of
citizenship. He also emphasizes that citizenship is not about the wealth or the amount of power one
has, but it s rather the respect and recognitions from our fellow citizen. He supports his argument with
Max Weber studies that the subject of class, power and status are relatively independent dimensions of
ones standing in society . He also discusses the changes in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He also describes the social relationship between ones willingness to perform a military service and
one s acceptance as a citizen. He says Morris Janowtiz view that military service was the hall mark of
citizenship and citizenship as the hall mark for political democracies , should not be mistaken for
people s willingness to join the military. He also discusses the past struggles of African American to
join the military and how racism has limited the possibility of African Americans to join the military.
He supported his argument by making some historical narrative about the struggle of black slaves to
join the military in other to be recognized as citizens, not only that but to serve their nation, by

reason was restricted from joining the military. He also claims that slaves started getting entry in the

Real and Accrual Based Earnings Management
Advanced Accounting Theory Final Paper
April 28, 2014
Real and Accrual Based Earnings Management
1.1 Introduction The most important item in the financial statements of a company is earnings.
Earnings indicate the amount of value added activities a company has engaged in over a period of
time, as well as assist in the direction of resource allocation in capital markets. Just as the eyes are the
window to the soul, earnings are the window to a company s value. Increasing earnings represent an
increasing company value, while the opposite can be said about decreasing earnings. Seeing how
important earnings are to a company s value, it comes to no surprise that management has a strong
incentive to report earnings in their maximum ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These techniques are defined briefly as follows:
Big Bath: a technique where a one time charge is taken against income to reduce assets, resulting in
lower future expenses. The write off allows the asset to be reduced or removed from the financial
statements, ultimately resulting in a lower net income in that year. The idea is to take a big bath to
wash the books, resulting in an increased net income for future years. An example would be if a
manager shifted profits forward by prepaying expenses, or delaying the realization of revenues.
Creative Acquisition Accounting: when a company allocates a large portion of an acquisition price as
being in process . An example would be using R D as a large one time write off charge.
Cookie Jar Reserves: a technique where a company portray unlikely assumptions when they are
calculating estimates for loan losses, warranty costs, or sales returns for example. Accruals are hidden
away in the cookie jar during good times and the jar is empty during bad times.
Immaterial Mis sapplications of Accounting Principles: when a company records errors within a
defined percentage ceiling and rationalizes the implied errors on the profits being too small to be
material to increase earnings.
Premature Recognition of Revenue: when companies

Essay On Probable Cause
1. What is the standard legal definition of probable cause?
Probable cause is a requirement which can be found in the Fourteenth Amendment that must usually
be met before an arrest can be made, before being allowed to conduct a search, seize property, and to
receive a warrant which is related to the alleged crime. Probable cause is considered a level of
reasonable belief, probable cause must be based on facts and not an assumption. In civil court, a
person can be sued if they have probable cause, and in criminal court, the defendant can be prosecuted
or arrested if they also have probable cause. If the officer cannot prove probable cause, unfortunately,
the evidence then becomes inadmissible, and the evidence will be thrown out.
2. What is the standard legal definition of reasonable suspicion?
Although reasonable suspicion is vaguely similar to probable case, they re very different. Reasonable
suspicion is less than probable cause. It allows police officers to briefly detain a ... Show more content

The two forms are preponderance of the evidence and proof beyond a reasonable doubt.
Preponderance is mostly used in civil court, whereas proof beyond a reasonable doubt is used in
criminal court. In civil court, the plaintiff must provide factual evidence regarding why he or she is
suing the defendant. In a criminal case, a higher standard of evidence is required, which is the proof
beyond a reasonable doubt. In most criminal cases the prosecutor must attempt to persuade that the
defendant, is, in fact, guilty of the charges brought against them. In criminal cases, the evidence must
be circumstantial and adequate enough to decide whether the person is guilty. Which is where the term
proof beyond a reasonable doubt derives from. It s another way of saying are you certain, is the proof

16 Bit Processors. The Year 1989 Saw The Leap From 8-Bit
16 bit processors. The year 1989 saw the leap from 8 bit to 16 bit consoles with NEC s TurboGrafx 16
and Sega s Genesis 16, both of which featured six channel stereo sound. The 16 bit processing chip
offered by Sega could process two times as much data per cycle as the earlier 8 bit processors.
Additionally, it included an 8 bit processor solely for sound. Combined, this resulted in a clearer, fuller
sound; larger, more detailed games; better developed characters; complex graphics; and faster action.
Finally, home video game systems could compete with the performance features of the much larger
coin operated arcade games. With this increase in technology, Sega was able to surpass the Nintendo

The 32 and 64 bit Game Systems. From 1993 through 2000, the video game industry jumped from 16

classification of bit numbers became less important due to the fact that performance now depended on
increasingly important factors such as processor clock speed, bandwidth and memory size. However,
there were benefits to be gained from the 64 bit upgrade. Enhanced speed and memory allowed games
to render more realistic collisions, lifelike simulations of graphics and real time multi channel audio
features. This era proved to be dominated by the Nintendo 64 and the Sony PlayStation. Sony entered
the market in 1995 at the 32 bit level with its PlayStation able to provide CD quality stereo sound,
including built in support for digital effects such as reverb and looping. One year later, Nintendo

Financial Analysis of the Healthcare Field
Introduction
In the ever changing dynamic of the healthcare industry, it is central to look at financial trends and
different types of financial analysis to capitalize on resources and minimize future impacts. With any
growing healthcare organization it is vital to be aware of one s internal and external environment, the
community it serves as well as the status of the economy. The purpose of this paper is to determine the
significance of certain types of financial analysis, particularly financial ratios, the use of EBITDA and
how they influence the healthcare field.
EBITDA, Financial Ratios and growing trends in healthcare EBITDA is an acronym which stands for
earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation and amortization and generally used to determine how
profitable a company can be (Brockman, C., Russell, J., 2012). The basic understanding of the
EBITDA is defined as the money the company has made without considering expenses or taxes
(Brockman, C., Russell, J., 2012). This can give a false sense of how much the company is actually
making or worth. In a hypothetical situation, a company creates a product that costs the consumer $10,
and 200 are made to meet the projected demand. With EBITDA, it is assumed there is already a $2000
profit made even if the product is actually never purchased. EBITDA does not calculate the
manufacturing costs, taxes and employee salaries that go into making a product. Although EBITDA
does not seem to measure the actual value of a

The clouded leopard could possibly be saved. There are 10,000 left as of 2015 they are considered
critically endangered. They are critically endangered because of Hunting,Poaching, Climate changes,
and Human impact are all causes of the population decrease.
Human Impact is one of the causes the clouded leopard is going extinct. The black market sells the
clouded leopards skulls and pelts for 5,700 dollars to vietnam each year. Smuggling is a big part of
human impact because illegal markets smuggle 3,00 each year . Also the clouded leopard is getting
killed by farmers because it eats the farmers livestock which is a decrease to the farmers livestock so
they kill the leopard. Therefore Human Impact is a big problem .
Climate change is another factor of the Clouded leopards extinction.By south asia, the weather has

How Far Do You Agree That Trotsky’s Leadership of the Red...
How far do you agree that Trotsky s leadership of the Red Army was responsible for the survival of
the Bolshevik government? (30 marks)
There were many factors that contributed to the survival of the Bolshevik Government, ranging from
Trotsky s leadership of the Red Army to the failings of the Bolsheviks rivals for power. This essay
shows that the main reason for the Bolsheviks continued survival through the period was not Trotsky s
great leadership of the Red Army, but the opposition s mistakes and failings. This will be
demonstrated by analysing the key factors leading to the survival of the Bolshevik Government:
Trotsky s leadership; Lenin s leadership; The Bolsheviks geographical advantage; and finally the

Much of the strategy employed by Trotsky and his generals was designed to weaken the enemies
transport system so that they could not effectively organise and coordinate troop movements.
Therefore many battles took place near sections of train track and stations, which crippled many
enemy attacks and allowed the Bolsheviks to crush each attack and then move on, rather than fighting
on several fronts. This great strategy employed by Trotsky helped the Bolshevik Government survive,
and without Trotsky and his control of the Red Army, the Bolshevik Government would most likely
not have survived.
A further factor that contributed to the survival of the Bolshevik Government was Lenin s great
leadership of the whole Bolshevik party. At first glance, it appears as though Lenin played only a
small role during the Civil War because he remained in Moscow throughout, however, when looked at
more closely it can be seen that Lenin was a key decision maker. Lenin forced through the Treaty of
Brest Litovsk when many opposed it; he did this because he had promised peace to the public and he
needed their support to have any chance of winning the Civil War, and therefore helping the Bolshevik
Government survive.
Lenin also instigated the policy of War Communism, in which industry was

Thomas Paine Contributions
Thomas Paine was alive during the 18th century and was a very influential writer of essays and
pamphlets. Some of his best known ones were The Age of Reason, which regards the place of religion
in society. Also Rights of Man, which defends the French Revolution. Finally the one he is best known
for Common Sense, which he published during the American Revolution. This book was definitely
Paine s most influential piece which turned public opinion to the view that independence from
England was needed. Thomas Paine was born on January 29, 1737. He had a Quaker father and an
Anglican mother. Paine had little formal education however was taught how to read, write, and
perform arithmetic. When Paine was thirteen he began to work with his father as a stay maker which
was the thick rope stays used on sailing ships. Later, he worked as an excise officer. However he was
not good at this, or any other early job. To add on to his hardships, around 1760, his wife and child
both died in childbirth. Also his stay making business went under. His first political work was The
Case of the Officers of Excise, which was a 21 page article in defense of higher pay for excise
officers. In the winter of 1772 he handed out 4,000 copies of the work to members of Parliament and
other citizens. Paine was fired from the excise office in spring of 1774, and he began to see his
outlook as barren. However he soon met Benjamin Franklin, who told him he should move to America

Twelve Who Ruled Essay
Twelve Who Ruled Book Review
The year of terror is one of the most complex and misunderstood periods in the French Revolution.
Palmer, in his book, Twelve Who Ruled, however, takes this period and skillfully turns it into a written
masterpiece. The book is narrated from the point of view of someone with an omniscient knowledge
of the subject matter, who is reflecting back on the period from the outside.
The book tells the story of a brief moment in history when twelve men (Robespierre, Barere, Saint
Just, Couthon, Lindet, Carnot, Saint Andre, Prieur, Varenne, Herbois, Scholles, and Duvernois) ruled
France; even though they were technically under the control of the Convention. ... Show more content

This can be seen when Palmer compares the other member to Robespierre. After the personal history
of each of the twelve men, Palmer moves right in and starts discussing how and why the Committee of
Public Safety was formed, and how it came to power. After this, he maneuvers circumspectly into how
the committee used this power to purge the nation of quot;counter revolutionaries, quot; who needed
but offend the sensitive ears of Robespierre to be executed. He then moves along chronologically to
the height of the Committee s power and eventually describes the decline and eventual demise of the
reign of terror. This is signified by the execution of Robespierre, who was designated as the instigator
of the terror. It is in his death that the terror culminated, and along with it, this book.
This book is considerably effective as a narrative biography of the quot;Twelve Who Ruled. quot;
Through his eloquent use of detail and his elegant ability to paint a superb picture which incorporates
both the lives and actions of the men in power and the essence and accomplishments of the Committee
of Public Safety as a whole he tells the story of the Reign of Terror. It is his intermixing of the two,
along with his representation of the day that makes this book so quot;Thoroughly sound, eminently
readable, quot; and representative of great narrative writing.

Advantages And Disadvantage Of Passive Targets In...
Passive tags
Today, the passive tags are the simplest form of tags without any power source such as a battery, in
order to start communication with the reader. The passive tag gets its power from the radio waves
transmitted by the reader. The tag contains minimal information such as the unique tag ID and it can
be read at a range of ten to twenty feet away from the reader. Passive tags are cheaper to manufacture
and are mostly used in disposable items or they can also be used in asset management.
Radio frequency bands, the memory used inside the tag, antenna design etc. act as a factor to the cost
of passive tags. Passive tags operate at various frequencies ranging from low, high, ultra high to
microwave frequencies. The manufacturing of passive tags ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

These tags are more expensive than passive tags the reason being the internal hardware and the range
that they cover. The cost of the tags is based on the storage type, battery and the area that the tag can

Semi passive tags
Semi passive tags are a combination of active and passive tags. Even though they do not initiate the
communication with the reader, they contain batteries to respond back to the reader with its own
power. Such type of tags are useful in environments where continuous monitoring is required over
large areas.
Sometimes in order to save the battery life of the tag, the tags remain in the passive state and wait for
an activation signal from the reader. Once the signal is received, it uses its own battery power to
transmit the signals. Semi passive tags can also be connected to the sensors to store sensor
information.
To summarize passive tags are the most used tags if we can trade off with its major disadvantage: it
cannot cover longer ranges as in the case of active and semi passive

Also, I have seen how this student interacts with her peers in my cooperating teacher s classroom. I

A Character Analysis Of George In Seinfeld s The Pitch
On July 5th 1989, a sitcom was born into this world that would lead television into a revolution in
comedy. Seinfeld was a television sitcom that ran for about nine seasons hosted by NBC. It was

episode, The Pitch, the character called George sums up the shows premise in one sentence,
Everybody s doing something, we ll do nothing. All the sitcoms around this time, such as the Fresh

Analysis and findings
This section will look on the importance of finance and accounting for businesses that were looked at
in the Literature Review. Also it will argue the ethics of accounting and finance in business due to
current accounting scandals.
Businesses need accounting information in order to make knowledgeable decisions. Creditors and
other lenders want to make sure that they will be paid back for the credit that they have given to a
business as suggested by Wood and Sangster(2012, p.9). These decisions done by financial
professionals have to administer and determine credit policy, make capital budgeting decisions and
advise on debts and preferred stock to enhance profitability as portrayed by Harold Bierman (2010, p.
3). Therefore, financial reports are important for making financial decisions for business.
In addition accounting and finance are important during this time of uncertainty such as slow growth
in the economy, debt and crisis. Thus financial information will seek to stabilise current growth and
future state of the business. As suggested by the President of European Commission, Jose Manuel
Barroso, on the current euro zone debt crisis that, banks should set aside more assets to help safeguard
against future losses. Thus accounting and finance have to play a significant role in the rising of new
capital to improve confidence that they could cope

The Colombian exchange did not transfer only good things. Many diseases such as small pox,
measles, mumps, and malaria were brought over to the New World from the Old World, and killed

New onset ST elevation is indicative of a myocardial infarction and is a condition that often requires either fibrinolytic therapy or angioplasty (O Gara et al., 2013). The principal methods for determining acute coronary syndrome include the EKG and the cardiac enzyme troponin (O Gara et al., 2013). The rapid ordering of these tests is especially useful during busy periods when there are delays in rooming a patient and receiving an evaluation by a physician. When there may be a delay in seeing a physician, advanced nursing interventions are standing protocols that allow nurses to immediately initiate tests and treatments for specific conditions such as chest pain. Overcrowded emergency departments with long wait times to see a physician have compelled improvements in the rapid assessment and screening for those patients that may require immediate medical intervention (Stauber, 2013). These protocols followed by triage nurses for helping assess or provide treatment to emergency department patients before being seen by a provider have been shown to be an effective method for improving department flow, identifying life threatening conditions, improving patient satisfaction and outcomes, reducing time to treatment (Retezar, Bessman, Ding, Zeger, McCarthy, 2011) and time to seen by a physician (Douma, Drake, O Dochartaigh, Smith, 2016). In A Handmaid s Tale, Gilead society has torn Offred away from her past life and severed all her connections to it. In these troubled times, characters turn to religion either by force or their own free will. In apocalyptic scenarios in literature, the fragmentation of memories make the victims of the event susceptible to the controlling influence of religion. Over the course of the novel, Offred continuously reminds the reader of stories of what she was taught by the Aunts at the Red Center. Offred recalls her old life I think about laundromats. • 6. Comparison Of Ethos And Pathos In Advertising In today s age, advertisements are found in almost every situation. These advertisements are found in a multitude of different places, including places such as billboards, newspapers, and on the television. Advertisements are most successful if they incorporate ethos, pathos, and logos into the message they are trying to present. Ethos is the credibility of an advertisement, pathos is the emotional appeal of an advertisement, and logos is the logic found in the advertisement. This paper will show the similarities and differences in pathos, logos, and ethos found in two separate Budweiser advertisements. Ethos, pathos, and logos are all rhetorical appeals, meaning that they are used to assist the speaker or writer in harnessing rhetoric. Clark (2016) considers rhetoric as a tool meant for persuasion as well as for creating effective arguments. Rhetoric became extremely popular during the golden age of Greece, and most elite young men in Greek city states such as Athens were trained to utilize rhetoric to their fullest abilities (Clark, 2016). Plato, an ancient Greek philosopher, believed that rhetoricians those who used rhetoric to influence and sway opinions used rhetoric irresponsibly (Clark, 2016). The Noahic covenant is the covenant that God made with Noah after he left the ark, sealed with a rainbow, that He would never again destroy the earth with a flood. The narrative of Noah and the Ark is one of the most well known stories from the Old Testament. Whilst the essence of this is recorded in the Genesis account of the Flood, the biblical narrative is much more than this unusual story. Curriculum Of The Other Woman As Luce Irigaray identifies, in her book Speculum of the Other Woman, Antigone is caught in a puzzling paradox of both intentionally committing her crime with full knowledge of her act, while at the same time remaining completely ignorant and unconscious of the law. She says, what an amazing vicious circle in a single syllogistic system. Whereby the unconscious while remaining unconscious, is yet supposed to know the laws of a consciousness which is permitted to remain ignorant of it and will become even more repressed as a result of failing to respect those laws (223). For Hegel, women do not have the ability to conceptualize ethical duty due to their inescapable nature. How is it that Antigone is guilty by virtue of her intentional crime, while remaining ignorant by virtue of her unconsciousness of the law? Kelly Oliver, in her article Antigone s Ghost, suggests that one can speculate if it is at this stage of the dialectic where women become conscious, however, she rightly indicates that this is an impossible scenario because unlike men, women are unable to break free from nature (Oliver, 79). The feminine is bound to the family and remains unconscious to her acts as ethical. Because women are restrained by nature to the divine law, the only type of knowledge women can have of committing a crime and the guilt associated with a crime is intuitive knowledge. The Main Theme Of Animal Liberation By Peter Singer The main theme of Animal Liberation by Peter Singer is summarized in one quote by Isaac Bashevis Singer, In their behavior towards creatures, all men [are] Nazis (84). Singer spends the whole book attempting to prove that Nazis and the abusers of animals are the same. He does this by talking about scientific testing and the way animals are treated before being killed for their meat. He dives into the specifics of what happens during animal testing and animals killed for meat in order to appeal to the humanity of the reader in order to exploit it. By exploiting the humanity of the reader Singer attempts to guilt the reader into becoming a vegetarian. Singer deciphers how the ability for animals to feel has been used scientifically but never accepted. He cites scientific trials such as the trials conducted by Gillette on rabbits. In 1986 an employee at the lab of Gillette released photos of the tests on rabbits to see the toxicity and effect of the toxicity on eyes. Tests for validity and reliability are the criteria mostly used by epidemiologists to judge the quality of measures used in research. Validity tests involve ensuring that the instrument is measuring what the epidemiologist intended (4), validity has several components including content and construct validity. Validity of the measure at minimum can be assessed subjectively by expert opinion of one or more experts in the field of study, where experts review the measure to determine if the instrument appears to be assessing the desired qualities (Face Validity) or determining whether the instrument samples all the relevant content (Content Validity) (3). Additionally, constructs are mini theories used to assist in developing a new or better instrument in order to explain a broader range of findings or make more accurate predictions about a person s behavior. Hence, when no other measures exist, the epidemiologist can link an attribute measured to another attribute by a hypothesis or construct and test the instrument by applying it to a sample to determine if the expected relationship is obtained; this is regarded as construct validity. Real and Accrual Based Earnings Management Advanced Accounting Theory Final Paper April 28, 2014 Real and Accrual Based Earnings Management 1.1 Introduction The most important item in the financial statements of a company is earnings. Earnings indicate the amount of value added activities a company has engaged in over a period of time, as well as assist in the direction of resource allocation in capital markets. Just as the eyes are the window to the soul, earnings are the window to a company s value. Increasing earnings represent an increasing company value, while the opposite can be said about decreasing earnings. The write off allows the asset to be reduced or removed from the financial statements, ultimately resulting in a lower net income in that year. The idea is to take a big bath to wash the books, resulting in an increased net income for future years. An example would be if a manager shifted profits forward by prepaying expenses, or delaying the realization of revenues. Creative Acquisition Accounting: when a company allocates a large portion of an acquisition price as being in process . An example would be using R D as a large one time write off charge. Cookie Jar Reserves: a technique where a company portray unlikely assumptions when they are calculating estimates for loan losses, warranty costs, or sales returns for example. Accruals are hidden away in the cookie jar during good times and the jar is empty during bad times. • 23. Essay On Probable Cause 1. What is the standard legal definition of probable cause? Probable cause is a requirement which can be found in the Fourteenth Amendment that must usually be met before an arrest can be made, before being allowed to conduct a search, seize property, and to receive a warrant which is related to the alleged crime. Probable cause is considered a level of reasonable belief, probable cause must be based on facts and not an assumption. In civil court, a person can be sued if they have probable cause, and in criminal court, the defendant can be prosecuted or arrested if they also have probable cause. If the officer cannot prove probable cause, unfortunately, the evidence then becomes inadmissible, and the evidence will be thrown out. 2. The year 1989 saw the leap from 8 bit to 16 bit consoles with NEC s TurboGrafx 16 and Sega s Genesis 16, both of which featured six channel stereo sound. The 16 bit processing chip offered by Sega could process two times as much data per cycle as the earlier 8 bit processors. Additionally, it included an 8 bit processor solely for sound. Combined, this resulted in a clearer, fuller sound; larger, more detailed games; better developed characters; complex graphics; and faster action. As 64 bit systems emerged, the mere classification of bit numbers became less important due to the fact that performance now depended on increasingly important factors such as processor clock speed, bandwidth and memory size. However, there were benefits to be gained from the 64 bit upgrade. Enhanced speed and memory allowed games to render more realistic collisions, lifelike simulations of graphics and real time multi channel audio features. With any growing healthcare organization it is vital to be aware of one s internal and external environment, the community it serves as well as the status of the economy. The purpose of this paper is to determine the significance of certain types of financial analysis, particularly financial ratios, the use of EBITDA and how they influence the healthcare field. EBITDA, Financial Ratios and growing trends in healthcare EBITDA is an acronym which stands for earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation and amortization and generally used to determine how profitable a company can be (Brockman, C., Russell, J., 2012). The basic understanding of the EBITDA is defined as the money the company has made without considering expenses or taxes (Brockman, C., Russell, J., 2012). This can give a false sense of how much the company is actually making or worth. In a hypothetical situation, a company creates a product that costs the consumer $10, and 200 are made to meet the projected demand. With EBITDA, it is assumed there is already a $2000 profit made even if the product is actually never purchased. EBITDA does not calculate the manufacturing costs, taxes and employee salaries that go into making a product. Although EBITDA does not seem to measure the actual value of a ... This great strategy employed by Trotsky helped the Bolshevik Government survive, and without Trotsky and his control of the Red Army, the Bolshevik Government would most likely not have survived. A further factor that contributed to the survival of the Bolshevik Government was Lenin s great leadership of the whole Bolshevik party.
