The Life And Work Of Martin Luther
Martin Luther experienced true faith and a true mystical experience for the first time when he got
stuck in a thunderstorm. Fearing for his life he begged St. Anne that if she took care of him he would
become a monk. Luther s journey began towards the life of God. The path he took, led him through
moments of realization and confusion. Martin Luther questioned the church and re evaluated baptism;
yet, he re enforced the importance of the Eucharist, kept his faith in God and believed every child of
Christ had the right to know the Lord s word.
Sacraments are about becoming closer to God, to commit to a life of God and to reach God s grace.
According to Rev. David D.Reedy author of The Life and Work of Martin Luther Martin began a
revolution as he taught and wrote about his dissatisfactions with the church. He began to change the
way people understood and the sacraments because he began to go back to the roots of each
sacrament.
When I began my path towards God through my own choice and not just part of what I was nurtured
through, I began to realize a few things I didn t agree with. Martin Luther began to ask questions to
learn and explore, but he was encountered with an unexpected twist. When making his way to become
a minister David Reedy explains, He came away more disillusioned, and very discouraged by the
immorality and corruption he witnessed there among the Catholic priests. His main ideal was that we
must dig back into the real power of faith. Luther believes

Career Choice For A Career
My career choice is a Forensic Psychologist. Since I first figured what I wanted to be when I grew up,
it either involved science, medicine, and law. I went from Surgeon to Scientist then to Lawyer. It
always somehow involved the criminal field. So, I did more research on what I could assemble and I
came to the conclusion that being a Forensic Psychologist was the best route for me to take. In my
paper, I will be telling you more in depth information about my career choice, how my thoughts of my
career choice relate to the information of my career, my plan to get to this career, and furthermore my
future.
To study the field of Forensic Psychology, I have to obtain my associate s and bachelor s degree, but
in order to work beyond that field and the actual career, I need to have both of those degrees plus my
master s in forensic psychology. It also involves me to get a law degree because it involves the
criminal field. I also have to get a doctoral degree in psychology in order to finish my field of study. In
my career, I have to do and be able to accomplish multiple tasks, such as; Apply psychology to the
criminal justice system, Assess offenders state of mind at time of offense, Assess competency of

Strange Fruit Ap Essay
Although Strange Fruit and The Summer I was Sixteen have extremely different tones and depict
images that seem nothing alike, they both have an underlying theme of discrimination and inequality.
Throughout history we have seen the bizarre way humans treat other other humans. Acts from a group
of humans towards another can range from violent to more mild, yet still harmful acts. Usually these
acts are based on differences in outward appearance, from the color of a person s skin to the gender of
a person. These two poems portray the idea that racism and sexism can be both blatant and subtle.
In the first couple lines of Strange Fruit by Abel Meeropol the tone of the poem is immediately set.
The tone, as shown in line 2, Blood on the leaves ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One signigicant simularity between sesism and rasicosm is the role that they play in classism, a system
our country has has throughout history. Classism is the systematic assignment of characteristics of
worth and ability based on social class. It includes individual attitudes and behaviors systems of
policies and practices that are set up to benefit the upper classes at the expense of the lower classes.
This results in drastic wealth inequality; the rationale that supports these systems and this unequal
valuing; and the culture that perpetuates them. It is prejudice, discrimination, mistreatment, neglect of
or lack of respect for any human and their rational needs based on people s socioeconomic class.
Classism is held in place by a system of beliefs and cultural attitudes that ranks people according to
economic status, family lineage, job status, level of education, and other divisions. Higher class people
are seen as smarter as and more articulate than poor people. In this way, dominant group members
define for everyone else what is normal or acceptable in the class hierarchy. Both women and African
Americans are seen as weaker, less intelligent, and therefore are pout in a lower class

Semiotics In That 70s Show
Introduction Semiotics can be defined as the study of symbols and signs particularly with regard to
how they are used to create meaning and communicate it to others. Semiotics also offers tools that
make it possible to uncover the cultural conventions and codes that highlight the period to which a
setting was placed and interpret meanings behind the symbols (Berger, 2014). In the pilot episode of
That 70s Show , it is possible to apply semiotic analysis since there are various signs and symbols that
reveal different elements of the show. Different signifiers in the episode and what they portray helps
the audience to interpret the message that the producer is trying to convey. That 70s Show has a large
presence of signs, signifiers, codes and ideologies that relate to teenage relationships and their lives in
general during the 1970s. Additionally, it is important to highlight character placement and the
semiotics involved pertaining to the viewers.
Parents son relationship The character Eric and his father form an important conflict in the storyline.

Korean War despite the fact that he fought in it and he has a difficult time adapting to the changing

Although the producer does not make this evident, there are several signs that highlight this point. For
one, there is one teenager who would be holding a stick of incense and behind them the audience can
see smoke clouds behind this group. This normally signifies the use of drugs and in particular
marijuana. It is also evident from the teenagers reactions that they are under the influence of
marijuana. They laugh uncontrollably and their statements do not seem to make sense. The camera
also pans from one individual to the other to symbolize the passing of the

The Legacy Of John Adams
John Adams was many things in his long and illustrious career. He was a lawyer, diplomat, farmer,
Vice President and President. He is most well known for being the second president. He did some
good things and some bad things. Although the four years of John Adams presidency were quiet and
somewhat forgotten, his successes in foreign policy and his control no doubt outweighed his failures
in the Sedition Act and with his cabinet, in part to his background and characteristics. John Adam s
greatest presidential accomplishment or success was his dealings with France in 1798. This incident is
better known as the infamous Quasi War . The Quasi War was a dispute between the United States and
France mainly fought over sea with each countries navies. It started with the United States refusing to
continue to repay the money that was owed to from a loan from France to help them in war. The
United States refused to pay because the money owed to the previous government, as similar to the
US. France had, had its own revolutionary wars and overthrew the old monarchy ending in 1799.
Since France had a new government, the United States felt no need to pay off old debt to the French
First Republic. Now the French were not happy about this, so they started to attack American trade
ships, which is called impressment. This was a way to help aid in their war with Britain. With the
France navy oppressed so many of the US s trade ships, this could have easily led to open war
between to the two

Australian Impressionism In Australia
Despite a brief lifespan between 1885 1903, the Heidelberg School or, more formally, the Australian
impressionism movement (Splatt and McLellan 1986, 1), significantly aided in defining the role of
landscape in Australian art (McCaughey 1979, 7). The Heidelberg School s establishment of a unique
national identity, use of techniques such as plein airism and Impressionism, accurate portrayal of the
Australian Landscape, and incorporation of the rural mythology, ...shaped the Australian vision... and
tied landscape to the white Australian identity (McCaughey 1979, 6 9 : Astbury 1985, 1). Arthur

During the early settlement of Australia, art was primarily used for documentary purposes by
ammeters and pioneers (Splatt and McLellan 1986, 1). The arrival of trained European artists yielded
a wave of Colonial oil paintings (Manton 1979, 58), however, these artists were ...trained to regard the
landscapes of Europe as the norm. and therefore their work could not accurately portray the Australian
identity and atmosphere (Splatt and McLellan 1986, 1 2). These Colonial artists ...retained the smooth,
anonymous surface established by academic procedures and practice. (Manton 1979, 58). As such,
their European eye and techniques distorted the Australian landscape into picturesque, park like green
hills and bubbling streams bathed in a gentle light. (Australian Government, 2009), often grounded

Heidelberg School artists were lauded for their portrayal of the Australian landscape ...experience(,)

the difference between the work of Colonial artists and those of the Heidelberg School with its use of
Impressionist techniques becoming ...an essential and explicit part of the painting. (Manton 1979, 58).
Within this work, the bush is treated as a familiar abundance and brought ...forward, virtually right up

landscape (ibid, 54 58). McCubbin s work, as with other Heidelberg School paintings, depict ...a
world which is natural , self contained, self sufficient and paradigmatically Australian. (Hills 1991,

Essay on Zoroastrianism s Role in Christianity s Development
Zoroastrianism s Role in Christianity s Development
Christianity is one of the most popular religions of the early 21st century. Through the course of
Christianity s first millennia it was able to rise from its original twelve followers to become the state
religion of Rome and the mighty empire which it held. However, unbeknownst to many, the concepts
that exist in Christianity and Judaism (the religion from which Christianity spawned) were initially
conceived by the nearly dead religion of Zoroaster. Christianity is closely modeled after the
Zoroastrain s beliefs in the afterlife, redemption, judgment, duality of deities, apocalypse and
messiahs. Whether Christianity adopted or coincidentally shared the beliefs of the ... Show more

When Zoroaster died they waited patiently for the apocalypse to come. After a few years had passed
they decided it would occur at the end of a millennia.1 Although Christians will argue that their
religion is monotheistic, virtually all other religions argue to the contrary. Muslims and Jews both
consider the Christian Holy Trinity to be clear evidence of tri theism. This is a view which has great
weight to it. If God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are all gods, then it seems logical to say that indeed the
Christians are tri theists. This is belief in three gods is shared by the Zoroastrians, who believe that
Ahura Mazda, Spenta Mainyu and Anghra Mainyu are all gods. Christians and Zoroastrians both
believe in a cosmic dualism. This dualism manifests itself in the struggle between two non empirical
beings which represent good and evil. This is a corner stone of both religions. The follower becomes a
soldier in the struggle for good, whereas non believers are told they are working for the evil deity. It is
also promised that good will eventually triumph over evil at the onset of the apocalypse. All though
the two religions both possess this dualism, there is one subtle difference between the two. In the
Zoroastrian faith the two forces are represented entirely by gods. The evil Anghra Mainyu against the
good Spenta Mainyu and Ahura Mazda. However, in Christianity the force of good is a god, whereas
the evil force is a mere spirit

Compare and Contrast two ethical theories.
In this essay I have chosen to compare two opposing theories, Immanuel Kant s absolutist
deontological ethics and Joseph Fletchers relativist situation ethics. The deontological ethics focuses
on actions made according to duty and the categorical imperative which shows how acts are
intrinsically good or bad. The situation ethics state that no act is intrinsically good or bad, and that
actions should b made according to love. From this perspective it looks as thought Kant s views were
less personal than Fletcher s, although in actuality both focus on the best outcome for humans.
Deontological ethics is concerned with actions, not consequences. To act with good intention but have
a bad outcome is still moral. Similarly if the intention ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fletcher believed that there are three types of ethical theories; legalistic ethics, antinomian ethics and
situation ethics. Deontology would be considered legalistic as it uses moral law as a set of
prefabricated rules much like in Christian traditions, which focus on natural moral law and the
commandments from the bible. According to Fletcher this would lead to problem s when life s
difficulties require additional laws. To explain this he used an example of murder once murder has
been prohibited one has to clarify the meaning in relation to killing in self defence, abortion, killing in
war, euthanasia and so on. A legalist would have to accommodate them. Fletcher rejected this as it can
create confusion there would be too many rules to learn.
Antinomian ethics is the direct opposite of legalistic ethics. All decisions are made spontaneously as if
every situation was unique. There are no ethical rules antinomian meaning against law .
it is literally unprincipled, purely ad hoc and casual. They are exactly, anarchic i.e. without a rule.
Fletcher (1963).
Fletcher was equally critical of antinomianism as there is on structure to it.
The third approach to ethics is situational ethics. This approach seems to be a compromise between
legalistic and antinomian views as a situationist follows the rules of society, but will set them aside if
love seems better served by doing so.
the situationist follows a moral law or

The Sociology Of Leopard Man Analysis
One of the many joys of life is being able to choose your own path. The decision of being a conformist
or a nonconformist lies all in the palm of your hand. In his article, The Sociology of Leopard Man ,
Logan Feys states, To be human is to be an individual human, with individual tastes, talents, values,
and aspirations that are distinct from those of others. Living in society, we are under constant pressure
to surrender our individuality to the will of the majority, the school, the workplace, the family, etc.
Everyone is their own unique person, with a different personality than the next, and at the end of the
day it is your personal option to display or hide your own individuality when around others. Overall,
Feys claims that society holds a heavy cloud over everyone s head that pressures them to submit their
own personality, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Feys, Society looks down upon freakish and extraordinary individuals alike and views
them with suspicion. Ordinary people fear what they don t understand (p 4) . No matter what you do
or say, society will always have its own judgement, and looking for its approval won t help in the long
run. If you are content with yourself and embrace who you are as an individual, someone will always
accept and love you for who you are. All things considered, I have found myself completely agreeing
with Logan Feys and his views on individuality and the statement of breaking free of society s
shackles in order to be who you are freely. In the long run, doing so will provide you the opportunity
to be genuinely happy, embrace your individuality, and lastly think for yourself. It is important to learn
to take advantage of the choices and opportunities that life has handed you; to learn to control your
own life and not let society do it for

The Real Estate Mogul s Immigration Platform Essay
his area of the real estate mogul s immigration platform proposes tripling the number of Immigration
and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers from 5,000 to 15,000. Trump also wants ICE officers to
cooperate with local law enforcement on gang raids, specifically targeting undocumented immigrants
who are believed to have gang connections.
But the candidate has been wavering on his overall immigration platform of late. The Trump
campaign spent several days in August adjusting its tone and language on the matter.
There could certainly be a softening, Trump said in an August interview with Fox News s Sean
Hannity, because we re not looking to hurt people.
He then quickly refused to rule out some form of mass deportation, returning to a hardline approach
reminiscent of the primary campaign.
Clinton focuses on detaining and deporting undocumented immigrants who pose a violent threat to
public safety, according to the Democratic nominee s immigration platform.
She defends President Barack Obama s stalled executive orders on the Deferred Actions for Childhood

intended to protect undocumented immigrants who meet certain criteria from deportation.

The British And French Colonization
There is an extensive history empirical power, repeatedly and successfully controlling another state or
group of people in order to exploit it economically. In Southeast Asia there were 5 colonial powers;
the United Kingdom, France, Dutch, America, and Japan, their primary motives for establishing
colonies in the region was to get control of trade routes, to get access to the natural resources and raw
materials, and the cheap labor, as well as to establish naval and military bases so that they could amass
influence in the region. Prior to World War II, a third of the world s area was colonized by European
colonial powers between the 15th and 19th centuries, and another third of the world s population were
in colonies, dependencies, protectorates, or dominions. In this essay, I will focus on the British and
French colonization in Southeast Asia. The British controlled Burma, most of the Malayan peninsula,
and Singapore, which was a strategic port and later became a naval base for the British. Meanwhile,
the French controlled the adjoining countries of Vietnamese, Cambodia, and Laos, collectively known
as French Indochina. This period of colonization in Southeast Asia brought many changes to the
regions society, politics, and the economy. For instance, both colonial powers introduced political
changes such as introducing a centralized form of government and changes to the justice systems in
many of the colonized countries. There were also social impacts resulting from the

Euphemism Treadmill Cycle
Political correct language limits the use of offensive terms that promote conscious thinking about how
people stereotype one another. Politically incorrect language is demanding to many racial groups such
as Native Americans who are mocked through the Washington Redskins . Those with special needs
have also been affected by politically incorrectness because they feel out of place when being referred

is a process that describes the cycle of discarded dysphemisms, used as a word replacement strategy .
In order for America to stay the greatest nation we must eliminate political incorrectness in our

us. Miners are strong, tough, hardworking people who work or has worked in dangerous conditions. It
s difficult to imagine the miners didn t see the possibility of an explosion every day they went to work
in the mines. Perhaps they did and they still went, aware of the possibility but going anyway because
their families needed to eat. This essay will explore what happened in Eccles mining disaster of 1914.
There were only 1500 people in Eccles, a West Virginia town where almost everyone was a miner. We
depend economy on the continuation of the coal mines. Eccles coal mine was owned by the
Guggenheims and actually considered relatively safe in comparison to other mines. At the time it was
the second most disastrous explosion of all time.
The miners in Eccles used a new invention called the carbide lamp. It worked better than the oil wick
lamps used before 1910 and seemed safer besides the unique odor of the acetylene gas emitted by the
lamps. On April 28, 1914, the day of the Ecles mining disaster, the flame on one of these lamps met
with a pocket of gas and exploded in mine shaft No 5. That explosion set off an explosion in mine
shaft No 6, collapsing the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, fifty bodies were found. They d been burned to death. In what seems like cruel irony, the
mines also became flooded. Without a certainty of saving the men, their hopes of continuing the
rescue effort had to be evaluated. Meanwhile, upon hearing that bodies were found, the residents of
Eccles, who most assuredly knew many of those who d passed away, rushed to the mines, attempting
to get past the cordoned areas. So many bodies were found that it was decided a morgue must be
established before any more were removed from the mine. Although the rescue effort continued, very
progress was slow and

The Breath Of Other People Killed Them
Throughout the eighteenth century great strides were being made in the medical field regarding the
understanding of disease, biology, and public health. With the contributions of scientists, doctors, and
researchers the overall health of the ever growing population in the eighteenth century began to
improve dramatically. By the early nineteen hundreds, life expectancy had risen to about 55 years. The
introduction and understanding of antiseptics, sterilization, and etiology and discoveries of Pasteur,
Lister, and Koch invoked a rise against disease which lead to a rise in life expectancy. All throughout
history humans have had to face disease in all of its many different forms. This forced them to develop
many different ways of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the greatest breakthroughs in medicine occurred in the late eighteenth with the discovery of
Louis Pasteur and his experiments regarding the growth of bacteria and their ability to travel from
place to place. After countless years of research and analyzation, Pasteur used his findings to develop
pasteurization (Haigh). Pasteurization is a process which involves heating certain liquids to kill
bacteria and prevent fermentation. Pasteur also developed an anthrax vaccine along with a way to
weaken the effects of the rabies virus. Using the work of Pasteur another scientist by the name of
Joseph Lister developed antisepsis, a way of killing disease causing germs. In 1865 before an
operation, Lister cleaned a leg wound with carbolic acid and performed the surgical procedure with
heated instruments, heating the instruments sterilized them (Gieson). The patient in question would
have needed an amputation if it was not for Lister sterilizing medical instruments and the surgical
field. Eventually, Lister incorporated the use of sterilization in all of his surgical procedures,
decreasing the amount of postoperative mortality. The use of antiseptics did not just reduce
postoperative mortality it also helped out in the treatment of wounds and making childbirth a less
risky process for both women and their children.
Another scientist that lead to great reform in the medical community, science, and public health was

A Kaisin In The Sun Analysis
Catherine Gunther Kodat and Zachary Ingle : Racist Fear and Cultural Studies One scholar Catherine
Gunther Kodat takes a look at key concepts used in a classroom environment. Another Zachary Ingle
states his intentions, I intend to answer the question as to whether racist fear indeed victimized the
screenplay of A Raisin in the Sun (Ingle). While, Kodat digs into a cultural studies drama course about
A Raisin in the Sun , Ingle set out to see if the screenplay is a child of racist fear and victimization. As
stated in in The Norton Introduction to Literature , historical criticism took the obvious facts that a
work is created in a specific historical and cultural context and that the author is a part of that context
is reasons to treat literature as a reflective society (1833). This reflective model is used by both Kodat
and Ingle in their intents of depicting A Raisin in the Sun . The screenplay had mixed reviews coming
across on the cliché side, with an African American chauffer, ghetto and when Walter asked Beneatha
about wanting to be a doctor. Making a statement of why couldn t she become a nurse like other
women (1592). Ingle writes, A Raisin in the Sun stands as the greatest African American play of the
twentieth century, as well as one of the greatest American dramas, period. Black theatre historian
James V. Hatch says, A Raisin in the Sun confronted Whites for an acknowledgement that a black
family could be fully human, just like us (Ingle). The

Internet Privacy
The concern about privacy on the Internet is increasingly becoming an issue of international dispute. ?
Citizens are becoming concerned that the most intimate details of their daily lives are being

The Pricing Objective Of The Marketing Strategy
The pricing objective of the marketing strategy is profit centered, meaning the new services are
expected to maximize the company profits. In evaluating the target audience, gym participants are not
found to be price sensitive, generally. Rather, they are value conscious and tend to place a high
emphasis on quality in evaluating the membership cost. People have various motives in joining a gym
including socializing, recreation, taking shape, losing weight, or health requirements. Because of the
intangible nature of the gym experience and health related matters, people do tend to be more value
conscious than price sensitive.
Understanding how the customers evaluate the price aids in choosing an appropriate pricing basis
strategically. For the new services, ABC Fitness will take a markup pricing approach with a
predetermined rate of 40%, set by the executives. 24 hour access. The costs associated with this
service include a video surveillance system, access cards, club fixtures, and promotional programs.
Using secondary data (Snap Fitness, 2014), a rough estimate has been developed and presented in
Table 1.
Assuming a 40% markup, the total cost of adding this service comes to a total of $43,400. The new
service is expected to increase the memberships by 25% annually. Over a window of 5 years, under
this assumption, the current membership size will grow from 200 to 488; an expected 288 sign ups for
this add on service which is equivalent to an average of 58 new

Regret Kate Chopin Analysis
Mamzelle Aurélie, the main character in Regret , has never been in love nor had the thought of
marrying. Why is this you may be wondering? Well, it is hard to say why Mamzelle Aurélie would
choose a lifestyle like this, but maybe she never found the right man to fit her wants and needs or
maybe she liked to be independent and live her life without having to think of someone besides
herself. In Regret , Kate Chopin illustrates how Mamzelle Aurélie, a fifty year old woman who has
never been in love, becomes engulfed with emptiness after experiencing a new found joy. Mamzelle
Aurélie s new found joy does not appear right away. One morning Mamzelle Aurélie s neighbor drops
off her four children in a hurry saying she must go attend to her sick mother and her husband had gone
to Texas. Mamzelle Aurélie had no choice to say no because before she knew it their mother was gone
and she was left on her porch with four children that she did not want. Mamzelle Aurélie was ill
prepared to give the attention children required and demanded (Chopin 98). She was not prepared
because she had never once been around children and did not know how to treat them or even know
what to do with them. Chopin writes, She was, indeed, very inapt, in her management of Odile s
children during the first few days (98). This meaning Mamzelle Aurélie was not suitable for the
circumstances she had come to be in. The wording Chopin used in this paragraph, for example saying
inapt, is trying to explain how

Symptoms And Treatment Of Pancreatic Cancer
Introduction:
Intraductal papillary mucinous duct neoplasms of the pancreas (IPMN p) are one of the subtypes of
cystic neoplasms of the pancreas. They are neoplasms that arise in the pancreatic ducts and can be
visualized as they are usually greater than 0.5 inch in length. They are comprised of tall mucin
producing columnar cells, that have the capability of transforming into pancreatic cancer if left
untreated. Their ability to develop into pancreatic cancer is one of the main reasons behind their
significance. IPMNs commonly exhibit cell atypia, papillary propagation, and cyst production. Their
main feature is the ability to produce copious amounts of fluid.
In general pancreatic cysts are not an uncommon finding on abdominal computerized tomography
(CT) scans. A study done at University College Dublin in 2008, in which, 2,832 abdominal CT scans
were evaluated for presence of pancreatic cysts, showed that 2.6% of people have pancreatic cysts.
These patients had no history of pancreatic disease, and had no pancreatic symptoms at the time of the
scan i.e the abdominal scan was done for other reasons. Pancreatic cysts increased with age, with zero
cysts found in patients below 40 and up to 8.7% of scans of those above 80 years of age had cysts
present. (12)
IPMNs of the pancreas can occur in either the main pancreatic duct or in one of its branches. The
smaller the branch size in which the neoplasm arose, the higher the likelihood of a less aggressive
neoplasm. Tumors

The Movie American History X
Recently I watched the movie American History X. Its major subjects are gang violence and racism,
that has been passed on from generation to generation. It also asked questions like, what were their
racist ideas really based on, how did racism effect the community, can racism be reshaped by actual
experiences, and how or why racism to begin with? Racism has been the main topic in the judicial
system, police affairs, and racially divided communities for years but it s neither disappearing nor
growing to this today.
In this movie the main character was a man named Derek. After the death of his father, due to gang
violence, he became a racist to all others but white people. He blamed the lack of jobs and poor wages
on the blacks and immigrants. In an interview he had after the death of his father he stated that, it s all
the blacks fault for all the violence in their neighborhood. He also said that, they brought all the
diseases like AIDS and it s their problem and why did they have to bring it to the white people. Before
he vandalized a store, owned by a Chinese man, with his other racist friends he told them why they
were doing this. He told them that these immigrates come here an instead of looking for the American
dream they come and take advantage of it and by firing those who worked there before and hiring
Mexicans and blacks, that are willing to work at a low wage, they make more money. So he and his
friends need to show them that they indeed don t belong here and

Oscar Zeta Acosta, A Strong And Honorable Man Essay
His appearance combined with the time and place he lived in made many things in his life difficult to
accomplish but it also made him, Oscar Zeta Acosta, a strong and honorable man. Starting with the
fact that there was a lot of racism, drugs and violence going on while he was growing up. Violence
especially was a big issue. In those days, firearms were owned by anyone who either had the money or
knew a way to get it and most of the times they fell into the wrong hands.
Q: Hello Mr. Acosta, How are you doing this fine sunny day?
Acosta: Hi, I m actually doing good, aside from the unsupportable pain my goddamn ulcers cause me.
I swear there are times in which I can t stand the fucking pain.
Q: I m sorry to hear that Mr. Acosta, but moving on to other matters, as you can probably see, there
are many issues concerning many aspects of the economy and politics but for now, I would like to
focus on firearms and the many problems it s causing not just here in California but in the United
States as a whole. And so I would like to ask you for your sincere and honest opinion on the matter.
Acosta: Yes, unfortunately there are still many issues happening at this very moment and one of them
is in fact the possession and usage of firearms and of course I will answer and give you my honest
opinion regarding this topic.
Q: Well first I would like to inform you, if you haven t heard so already, about the massive school
shooting that there has been in various schools ranging from elementary

Distinctive Visuals in Run Lola Run Essay
A composer can create images dependant on the form of the language of texts to shape a responders
understanding of the ideas and themes prompted by people and their experiences. The German film,
Run Lola Run written and directed by Tom Tykwer, focuses on the experiences of the protagonist Lola
to explore the themes of the inevitable force of time, and the issue of freewill verses determinism.
Similarly, Dorothea Mackellar, in her poem My Country , relies on her experiences of the Australian
landscape to convey her love and passion for the country using the language of the distinctive visual.
The distinctively visual techniques employed by Tykwer in Run Lola Run, function to raise the
importance of time, its inevitability, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Split screen techniques divide the screen into three equal proportions creating a simultaneous
depiction of Lola, Manni and the clock, allowing Tykwer to show the struggle to beat time. Adding to
the dramatic urgency and reinforcing the power of time is the virtual real time of the film, meaning the
twenty minutes of Lola s life are shown in virtually twenty minutes of screen time. Hence, the
distinctively visual provides an insightful image into Lola s experiences placed under seize by the
adamant nature of time.
Interestingly, visual techniques are also effective in portraying the theme of free will versus
determinism to question the responder who and what controls our lives. The tripartite storytelling
structure incorporating three wholly, self contained alternate versions of events is an unconventional
filming technique reinforcing the postmodernist perception of having minimal control over life. As
Lola rushes past minor characters in the film, flash forwards offer alternate glimpses of the possible
outcome of their future, suggesting that fee will alone is not a sole determination of the outcome of
life. In each run, Lola s encounter with these minor characters varies, showing that even the slightest
change can become a significant impact to life. An extreme close up

The Roles Of Television And Minorities In Television
Minorities in Television
Maria Lopez
Minority Relations
Eleonora Hicks
October 3, 2017
Over the years television has been known to be one of the major educating and socializing institution
in America. Television in today s society is able to play a powerful key through which individuals can
be informed, hold forums, and voice their opinion s. Television is also important because it offers us
glimpses into minority life and minority figures. When sociologists examine minorities in television
they document how minorities are portrayed and how those portrayals have changed over the years.
Through time, minorities in television have been able to make moderate gains whether they are in
front of or behind cameras. However, they continue to remain significantly underrepresented as
leading actors in films, as writers, and as TV show creators. Even though minorities are significantly
underrepresented in today s society the TV industry has been pushing to give an opportunity to many
minority groups in succeeding in the media. Several TV shows and commercials have succeeded in
the TV industry to try and change how minorities are underrepresented, however, there are also shows
that reinforce stereotypes and are prejudice towards minorities.
Grey s Anatomy is a television medical drama that has been running for a little over a decade. This
show is known to have one of the most diverse cast in the history of American television. Actors

Affective Events Theory Paper
Gail has established a thoughtful relationship between emotions and moods, and the Affective Events
Theory. I support her views on the subject and would like to add some more insight on the
connections. The affective theory links emotional response with its effect on the result such as ones
mood, emotions or outlook. (Robbins Judge, 2009). To add to that, Fisher explains that there are many
basic emotions, however there are only two basic moods negative and positive (Fisher, 2012). From
the description Gail gave on the correlation between emotions and mood along with the affective
events theory, I begin to recall my own experience. I remember a team member having a very negative

BRAAAP Company
Introduction
The Braaap motorcycle brand was established in 2008 by Brad Smith. Brad began with a vision to
supply motorbikes which would making motorcycling more fun and accessible for people. The plan
from the start was to build a motorcycle that would compete with custom built American race bikes,
but be affordable for people that wish to have a go at this sport. It took a lot of visits to different
manufacturers before they found one that believed in his vision. Since then it has been onwards and

encompass all the products within the Braaap brand from clothing, spare parts, motorcycles etc
Prices for the bikes are as follows:

125cc $2,399.00
Classic 150cc $2.999.00

Yamaha and Honda. Yamaha in comparison with the 250 cc road racer with a similar model sells for
around $8,999.00 and Honda is around $4,300.00.This means that they are competitively priced and
affordable to the mass market.
One problem that could arise is the price of the components, if the cost of these rise this could
influence the overall price of the motorbikes. Other factors that could affect this is the strength of of

The Military Manipulated The Media During The First Gulf War
The aim of this investigation is to determine to what extent the US military manipulated the media
during the First Gulf War. Therefore my research question is to what extent was media coverage of the
First Gulf War manipulated by the United States government. In order to obtain an appropriate
analysis of this topic several different sources will be consulted throughout this investigation. Those
include, archived books, news reports, interviews, photos and websites. I will now analyse 2 of the
sources that I will use in the investigation For example the U.S Government exhibited great skill in
shaping media coverage during the Gulf War. It used several means to do so. Reporters were restricted
to the pool system meaning the government choose which reporters and news organizations had
access to battlefield coverage. The government escorted the media to sites of the governments
choosing and even then the media had to submit their reports to government censorship. Most of the
media spent most of the Gulf War in hotel rooms in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia reporting on government
press briefings, and rebroadcasting and rebroadcasting the Pentagon s footage of perfect bombing runs
and surgical air strikes. The media had no independent ability to confirm or deny these rosy pictures
and reports and no ability to track down stories the government did not want shown, such as those
about Iraqi casualties, civilians dead or injured, missed bombs, or failing to strike Saddam Hussein.

  • 2. The Life And Work Of Martin Luther Martin Luther experienced true faith and a true mystical experience for the first time when he got stuck in a thunderstorm. Fearing for his life he begged St. Anne that if she took care of him he would become a monk. Luther s journey began towards the life of God. The path he took, led him through moments of realization and confusion. Martin Luther questioned the church and re evaluated baptism; yet, he re enforced the importance of the Eucharist, kept his faith in God and believed every child of Christ had the right to know the Lord s word. Sacraments are about becoming closer to God, to commit to a life of God and to reach God s grace. According to Rev. David D.Reedy author of The Life and Work of Martin Luther Martin began a revolution as he taught and wrote about his dissatisfactions with the church. He began to change the way people understood and the sacraments because he began to go back to the roots of each sacrament. When I began my path towards God through my own choice and not just part of what I was nurtured through, I began to realize a few things I didn t agree with. Martin Luther began to ask questions to learn and explore, but he was encountered with an unexpected twist. When making his way to become a minister David Reedy explains, He came away more disillusioned, and very discouraged by the immorality and corruption he witnessed there among the Catholic priests. His main ideal was that we must dig back into the real power of faith. Luther believes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Strange Fruit Ap Essay Although Strange Fruit and The Summer I was Sixteen have extremely different tones and depict images that seem nothing alike, they both have an underlying theme of discrimination and inequality. Throughout history we have seen the bizarre way humans treat other other humans. Acts from a group of humans towards another can range from violent to more mild, yet still harmful acts. Usually these acts are based on differences in outward appearance, from the color of a person s skin to the gender of a person. These two poems portray the idea that racism and sexism can be both blatant and subtle. In the first couple lines of Strange Fruit by Abel Meeropol the tone of the poem is immediately set. One signigicant simularity between sesism and rasicosm is the role that they play in classism, a system our country has has throughout history. Classism is the systematic assignment of characteristics of worth and ability based on social class. It includes individual attitudes and behaviors systems of policies and practices that are set up to benefit the upper classes at the expense of the lower classes. This results in drastic wealth inequality; the rationale that supports these systems and this unequal valuing; and the culture that perpetuates them. It is prejudice, discrimination, mistreatment, neglect of or lack of respect for any human and their rational needs based on people s socioeconomic class. Classism is held in place by a system of beliefs and cultural attitudes that ranks people according to economic status, family lineage, job status, level of education, and other divisions. He is most well known for being the second president. He did some good things and some bad things. Although the four years of John Adams presidency were quiet and somewhat forgotten, his successes in foreign policy and his control no doubt outweighed his failures in the Sedition Act and with his cabinet, in part to his background and characteristics. John Adam s greatest presidential accomplishment or success was his dealings with France in 1798. This incident is better known as the infamous Quasi War . The Quasi War was a dispute between the United States and France mainly fought over sea with each countries navies. It started with the United States refusing to continue to repay the money that was owed to from a loan from France to help them in war. The United States refused to pay because the money owed to the previous government, as similar to the US. France had, had its own revolutionary wars and overthrew the old monarchy ending in 1799. Since France had a new government, the United States felt no need to pay off old debt to the French First Republic. Now the French were not happy about this, so they started to attack American trade ships, which is called impressment. This was a way to help aid in their war with Britain. Through the course of Christianity s first millennia it was able to rise from its original twelve followers to become the state religion of Rome and the mighty empire which it held. However, unbeknownst to many, the concepts that exist in Christianity and Judaism (the religion from which Christianity spawned) were initially conceived by the nearly dead religion of Zoroaster. Christianity is closely modeled after the Zoroastrain s beliefs in the afterlife, redemption, judgment, duality of deities, apocalypse and messiahs. After a few years had passed they decided it would occur at the end of a millennia.1 Although Christians will argue that their religion is monotheistic, virtually all other religions argue to the contrary. Muslims and Jews both consider the Christian Holy Trinity to be clear evidence of tri theism. This is a view which has great weight to it. If God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are all gods, then it seems logical to say that indeed the Christians are tri theists. This is belief in three gods is shared by the Zoroastrians, who believe that Ahura Mazda, Spenta Mainyu and Anghra Mainyu are all gods. Christians and Zoroastrians both believe in a cosmic dualism. This dualism manifests itself in the struggle between two non empirical beings which represent good and evil. This is a corner stone of both religions. The follower becomes a soldier in the struggle for good, whereas non believers are told they are working for the evil deity. It is also promised that good will eventually triumph over evil at the onset of the apocalypse. All though the two religions both possess this dualism, there is one subtle difference between the two. In the Zoroastrian faith the two forces are represented entirely by gods. The evil Anghra Mainyu against the good Spenta Mainyu and Ahura Mazda. • 11. Compare and Contrast two ethical theories. In this essay I have chosen to compare two opposing theories, Immanuel Kant s absolutist deontological ethics and Joseph Fletchers relativist situation ethics. The deontological ethics focuses on actions made according to duty and the categorical imperative which shows how acts are intrinsically good or bad. The situation ethics state that no act is intrinsically good or bad, and that actions should b made according to love. From this perspective it looks as thought Kant s views were less personal than Fletcher s, although in actuality both focus on the best outcome for humans. Deontological ethics is concerned with actions, not consequences. To act with good intention but have a bad outcome is still moral. Similarly if the intention ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Fletcher believed that there are three types of ethical theories; legalistic ethics, antinomian ethics and situation ethics. Deontology would be considered legalistic as it uses moral law as a set of prefabricated rules much like in Christian traditions, which focus on natural moral law and the commandments from the bible. According to Fletcher this would lead to problem s when life s difficulties require additional laws. To explain this he used an example of murder once murder has been prohibited one has to clarify the meaning in relation to killing in self defence, abortion, killing in war, euthanasia and so on. A legalist would have to accommodate them. Fletcher rejected this as it can create confusion there would be too many rules to learn. Antinomian ethics is the direct opposite of legalistic ethics. All decisions are made spontaneously as if every situation was unique. This approach seems to be a compromise between legalistic and antinomian views as a situationist follows the rules of society, but will set them aside if love seems better served by doing so. the situationist follows a moral law or ... The decision of being a conformist or a nonconformist lies all in the palm of your hand. In his article, The Sociology of Leopard Man , Logan Feys states, To be human is to be an individual human, with individual tastes, talents, values, and aspirations that are distinct from those of others. Living in society, we are under constant pressure to surrender our individuality to the will of the majority, the school, the workplace, the family, etc. Everyone is their own unique person, with a different personality than the next, and at the end of the day it is your personal option to display or hide your own individuality when around others. If you are content with yourself and embrace who you are as an individual, someone will always accept and love you for who you are. The Hispanic dropout rate was close to 75 percent in certain areas (Ovando et al., 2006). In 1968, President Lyndon B. Miners are strong, tough, hardworking people who work or has worked in dangerous conditions. It s difficult to imagine the miners didn t see the possibility of an explosion every day they went to work in the mines. Perhaps they did and they still went, aware of the possibility but going anyway because their families needed to eat. This essay will explore what happened in Eccles mining disaster of 1914. There were only 1500 people in Eccles, a West Virginia town where almost everyone was a miner. We depend economy on the continuation of the coal mines. Eccles coal mine was owned by the Guggenheims and actually considered relatively safe in comparison to other mines. At the time it was the second most disastrous explosion of all time. The miners in Eccles used a new invention called the carbide lamp. It worked better than the oil wick lamps used before 1910 and seemed safer besides the unique odor of the acetylene gas emitted by the lamps. On April 28, 1914, the day of the Ecles mining disaster, the flame on one of these lamps met with a pocket of gas and exploded in mine shaft No 5. One of the greatest breakthroughs in medicine occurred in the late eighteenth with the discovery of Louis Pasteur and his experiments regarding the growth of bacteria and their ability to travel from place to place. After countless years of research and analyzation, Pasteur used his findings to develop pasteurization (Haigh). Pasteurization is a process which involves heating certain liquids to kill bacteria and prevent fermentation. Pasteur also developed an anthrax vaccine along with a way to weaken the effects of the rabies virus. Using the work of Pasteur another scientist by the name of Joseph Lister developed antisepsis, a way of killing disease causing germs. In 1865 before an operation, Lister cleaned a leg wound with carbolic acid and performed the surgical procedure with heated instruments, heating the instruments sterilized them (Gieson). The patient in question would have needed an amputation if it was not for Lister sterilizing medical instruments and the surgical field. Eventually, Lister incorporated the use of sterilization in all of his surgical procedures, decreasing the amount of postoperative mortality. The use of antiseptics did not just reduce postoperative mortality it also helped out in the treatment of wounds and making childbirth a less risky process for both women and their children. A Kaisin In The Sun Analysis Catherine Gunther Kodat and Zachary Ingle : Racist Fear and Cultural Studies One scholar Catherine Gunther Kodat takes a look at key concepts used in a classroom environment. Another Zachary Ingle states his intentions, I intend to answer the question as to whether racist fear indeed victimized the screenplay of A Raisin in the Sun (Ingle). While, Kodat digs into a cultural studies drama course about A Raisin in the Sun , Ingle set out to see if the screenplay is a child of racist fear and victimization. As stated in in The Norton Introduction to Literature , historical criticism took the obvious facts that a work is created in a specific historical and cultural context and that the author is a part of that context is reasons to treat literature as a reflective society (1833). This reflective model is used by both Kodat and Ingle in their intents of depicting A Raisin in the Sun . The screenplay had mixed reviews coming across on the cliché side, with an African American chauffer, ghetto and when Walter asked Beneatha about wanting to be a doctor. Making a statement of why couldn t she become a nurse like other women (1592). In evaluating the target audience, gym participants are not found to be price sensitive, generally. Rather, they are value conscious and tend to place a high emphasis on quality in evaluating the membership cost. People have various motives in joining a gym including socializing, recreation, taking shape, losing weight, or health requirements. Because of the intangible nature of the gym experience and health related matters, people do tend to be more value conscious than price sensitive. Understanding how the customers evaluate the price aids in choosing an appropriate pricing basis strategically. • 27. Regret Kate Chopin Analysis Mamzelle Aurélie, the main character in Regret , has never been in love nor had the thought of marrying. Why is this you may be wondering? Well, it is hard to say why Mamzelle Aurélie would choose a lifestyle like this, but maybe she never found the right man to fit her wants and needs or maybe she liked to be independent and live her life without having to think of someone besides herself. In Regret , Kate Chopin illustrates how Mamzelle Aurélie, a fifty year old woman who has never been in love, becomes engulfed with emptiness after experiencing a new found joy. Mamzelle Aurélie s new found joy does not appear right away. One morning Mamzelle Aurélie s neighbor drops off her four children in a hurry saying she must go attend to her sick mother and her husband had gone to Texas. Mamzelle Aurélie had no choice to say no because before she knew it their mother was gone and she was left on her porch with four children that she did not want. Mamzelle Aurélie was ill prepared to give the attention children required and demanded (Chopin 98). She was not prepared because she had never once been around children and did not know how to treat them or even know what to do with them. Chopin writes, She was, indeed, very inapt, in her management of Odile s children during the first few days (98). This meaning Mamzelle Aurélie was not suitable for the circumstances she had come to be in. The wording Chopin used in this paragraph, for example saying inapt, is trying to explain how ... • 28. Symptoms And Treatment Of Pancreatic Cancer Introduction: Intraductal papillary mucinous duct neoplasms of the pancreas (IPMN p) are one of the subtypes of cystic neoplasms of the pancreas. They are neoplasms that arise in the pancreatic ducts and can be visualized as they are usually greater than 0.5 inch in length. They are comprised of tall mucin producing columnar cells, that have the capability of transforming into pancreatic cancer if left untreated. Their ability to develop into pancreatic cancer is one of the main reasons behind their significance. IPMNs commonly exhibit cell atypia, papillary propagation, and cyst production. Their main feature is the ability to produce copious amounts of fluid. In general pancreatic cysts are not an uncommon finding on abdominal computerized tomography (CT) scans. A study done at University College Dublin in 2008, in which, 2,832 abdominal CT scans were evaluated for presence of pancreatic cysts, showed that 2.6% of people have pancreatic cysts. These patients had no history of pancreatic disease, and had no pancreatic symptoms at the time of the scan i.e the abdominal scan was done for other reasons. Pancreatic cysts increased with age, with zero cysts found in patients below 40 and up to 8.7% of scans of those above 80 years of age had cysts present. (12) IPMNs of the pancreas can occur in either the main pancreatic duct or in one of its branches. The smaller the branch size in which the neoplasm arose, the higher the likelihood of a less aggressive neoplasm. Tumors ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. The Movie American History X Recently I watched the movie American History X. Its major subjects are gang violence and racism, that has been passed on from generation to generation. It also asked questions like, what were their racist ideas really based on, how did racism effect the community, can racism be reshaped by actual experiences, and how or why racism to begin with? Racism has been the main topic in the judicial system, police affairs, and racially divided communities for years but it s neither disappearing nor growing to this today. In this movie the main character was a man named Derek. After the death of his father, due to gang violence, he became a racist to all others but white people. He blamed the lack of jobs and poor wages on the blacks and immigrants. In an interview he had after the death of his father he stated that, it s all the blacks fault for all the violence in their neighborhood. He also said that, they brought all the diseases like AIDS and it s their problem and why did they have to bring it to the white people. Before he vandalized a store, owned by a Chinese man, with his other racist friends he told them why they were doing this. He told them that these immigrates come here an instead of looking for the American dream they come and take advantage of it and by firing those who worked there before and hiring Mexicans and blacks, that are willing to work at a low wage, they make more money.
