2. Rondell Data Corporation Study Question Analysis
Issues and Discussion Questions
1.What are the goals and subunit orientations of the different functions in Rondell?
The five principal functions in Rondell that must work together to produce new products are
production, sales, research, engineering services (part of engineering), and the control department
(containing accounting, purchasing, and materials control). Each function contributes something
unique and has adistinct subunit orientation.a. Production minimizes manufacturing costs. The goal is
to obtain products from the engineering designdepartment for easy and inexpensive manufacturing.
The manager in charge of production, Dave Schwab,is concerned about protecting his turf, and resists
attempts by other departments to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
b. Heterogeneous goals and priorities. Each function s different goal and subunit orientation causes it
toview problems differently. Subunits have become competitive as the attempts of one to achieve
goalsthwart the attempts of another.c. Bureaucratic factors. Rondell s structure has evolved historically
and status inconsistencies havedeveloped among different groups and managers between the heads of
R D and engineering. Althoughthe head of R D, Doc Reeves, formally reports to Frank Forbus, the
director of engineering, informally Reeves has more status and power. The manufacturing manager is
concerned about his lack of a degree, which he believes lowers his status, so he deliberately causes
problems for other managers toincrease his power and status.d. Incompatible performance criteria.
Each function is evaluated according to its goals, so when slowengineering design raises
manufacturing costs or results in lost customers or penalty clauses in customer contracts, functions
come into conflict.e. Competition for scarce resources. Some functions, such as R D, can command
whatever resourcesthey want. Engineering services is running very lean, its engineers stretched thin,
and no resources for aneffective preproduction unit. Given that profits have fallen, competition for
resources might increase, which will worsen the

3. Analysis Of The Windhover By Gerard Manley Hopkins
There is no doubt many metaphorical meanings that critics can take from the The Windhover by
Gerard Manley Hopkins. With that in mind, I will focus on finding the correct linguistic interpretation
of the poem. In the past, authors of scholarly articles of the poem have seemed to downplay the self
reflective portion of the poem where Hopkins refers to his own hidden heart. There has also been
much disagreement over the sequence dapple dawn drawn, and multitudes of debates on the
interpretation of here/ Buckle! The intention of this explication is to clarify and hopefully provide a
conclusion of these disparities. To begin, the breaking of the word kingdom between line 1 and 2 is
significant. The falcon is both morning s minion and king. If the break was following the complete
word kingdom there would have been less exaltation of the falcon. Hopkins set the glory of the bird up
by using the dynamic verb caught, implying spontaneity, joy, and delight, instead of a more mundane
verb like view or see. The division of the word kingdom also allows for two simultaneous
interpretations of the first two lines. The first interpretation is that the falcon is the kingdom, and the
other being that the falcon is the dauphin of the dom(e) of daylight, the sky (Rudanko 176). The
double interpretation of lines 1 through 2 created a more complete characterization of the falcon and
effectively uses compression to contain as much meaning as possible. For the dapple dawn drawn
sequence, Rudanko proposes 4 possible ways of interpretation based on previous literary analysis and
his own, which, are as follows: (1) The falcon is attracted by the dappled dawn. (2) The falcon is
sketched against the dappled dawn. (3) The dappled falcon is attracted by the dawn. (4) The dappled
falcon is sketched in silhouette against the dawn (Rudanko 176). However, immediately following this
sequence the falcon is riding. Therefore, it is not plausible that 2 or 4 are accurate interpretations of
the sequence since the dappling of the bird would be imperceptible if he were to appear as a silhouette
and that if the dawn is dappled there would be enough light in the rest of the sky to illuminate the bird
enough for it to not just

4. Intervertebral Disk Disorder
Intervertebral Disk Disease (IVDD) is one of the most common spinal cord disorders in small animals.
It is the degenerative process of the intervertebral disk which causes bulging or herniation into the
spinal cord, the disk acts as a cushion and shock absorber for the vertebrae. Treatment for animals that
had severe IVDD with paralysis and no deep pain perception used to be surgery but recent studies
show that surgery might not be the best way to go. Electroacupuncture sends small electrical signals to
the central nervous system and has few adverse effects. If there is another way to help canines who
suffer from IVDD rather than going through an extensive and extremely expensive surgery I believe it
should be explored. This paper will be comparing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This study consisted of 50 small breed dogs such as pekingese, dachshunds, cocker spaniels and

dog was evaluated for the neurologic dysfunction grades and functional neurologic scores. The
neurologic dysfunction grades varied from grade one to grade five. They split the dogs up into a group
of 26 who received conventional medicine and electroacupuncture and 24 dogs who received just
conventional medicine. All dogs were given prednisone and tramadol if needed. If the dogs had any
adverse effects they were given ranitidine for five to seven days. The owners were advised that they
had to restrict their dog s activity for 30 days to avoid recurrence. 26 dogs went through
electroacupuncture once per week for three weeks and dogs with a grade five went through it twice a
week for two weeks and then once a week for two more weeks. They used an alternating current of 3
Herz and 100 Herz for 20 minutes. The acupuncture points that were chosen are as follows: small
intestine 13, bladder 62, 60, 20, 25 and 23, stomach 36, kidney 13, governing vessel one, large

5. Wearable Health Monitoring Devices Can Be Enhanced By...
There is an explosive growth in wearable computing devices over the past couple of years mostly due
to technological advances in smart devices. Although most of these are self care monitoring devices
the need for assisted living where a patient can be monitored continuously using these devices are
emerging fast. In a typical tracking system, various vital biological signals, fall risks and changes in
predetermined health conditions are collected via sensors and shared with medical professionals for
intervention if necessary. Most popular applications of self care monitoring include daily activity
monitoring, emergency and fall detection, and rehabilitation. Despite these useful applications, the
paradigms such as autonomy, context awareness, and spontaneous interactions are not well integrated
into these existing systems yet.
Existing wearable health monitoring devices can be enhanced by adding adaptive biofeedback and
control capability. This will transform the current wearable health monitoring devices from a passive
monitoring device to a real time treatment assistive device. Such a device is capable of not only
collecting, storing, and monitoring raw and synthesised data similar to the current wearable healthcare
devices, but can also provide autonomous reconfiguration, controlled treatment processes by using
collected data to provide intelligent local and remote feedback with decision making. There are a large
number of applications that can be benefited from such a

They will need to be open minded learners because to properly adapt to new situations, and new

which ll help them become better leaders. This will benefit the team, because everyone will learn from
each other and their different cultures. They ll learn from the places they ll be visiting and they ll all

7. A Research Study On Anti Smoking Campaign
INTRODUCTION:
Anti smoking campaigns aim to induce attitude changes that will cause a behavioural change of not
smoking, by employing techniques that target the central or peripheral route processing. The central
route prompts reasoning and analysis of arguments, persuading the audience through the message s
content. The peripheral route uses visual cues to appeal to emotions. Each route stimulates differing
depths of understanding about the consequences of smoking, and thus, varying levels of commitment
to not smoking. This investigation will focus on how effective these campaigns are in inducing higher
levels of understanding and commitment to not smoking. Subjective quantitative data will be collected
via self reports. A Visual Analogue ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The route with the highest mean score for understanding and commitment will be more effective in
inducing persuasion.
RESULTS:
Graph 1 shows that anti smoking campaigns targeting central route processing induced a better
understanding of the consequences of smoking than those targeting the peripheral route, as they
achieved a higher mean understanding score on the V.A.S. Graph 2 shows that anti smoking
campaigns stimulating the central route produced higher commitment to not smoking than those
targeting the peripheral route, as they achieved a higher mean score on the questionnaire.
DATA INTERPRETATION:
Graph 1 displays that campaigns targeting central route processing had the highest mean score of 88,
and thus, produced a better understanding of the consequences of smoking. An 11% difference existed
between the mean scores of the two experimental groups, indicating that their understanding was
relatively similar.
Graph 2 suggests that campaigns targeting central route processing produced higher commitment to
not smoking, as they had the highest mean score of 40. A 29% difference existed between the mean
scores of these two experimental groups, indicating that their commitment levels were relatively
different.
Campaigns targeting the central route may have produced better understanding and commitment levels

10. Violence In Media
The Effects of Violence in the Media
Julianna V. Cronan
Alexander Early College
4th Block Honors English
Mrs. Bumgarner
Abstract
Many would say that violence in the media is the key problem in society today. However, an analysis
of violence in the media reveals that violence does create a more aggressive world, but that is not the
only plausible explanation. When violence is watched or participated in, the viewer s heart rate and
blood pressure increase and they have difficulty creating empathy for the others; they are more apt to
act out that anger. Others would argue that statistically violence has decreased in the world, and that
the violent behavior that is demonstrated by a few does not represent the whole of society. It is with
this reason that many say that there should be stricter ratings on video games and movies, and parents
should be better educated on ways to teach their children ways to deal with the violent content in a
healthy way.
The Effects of Violence in the Media
You are what you watch! An examination of violence in the media reveals that media violence does
create a more aggressive culture. Even though violent crime has decreased, violence in the media had
doubled or even tripled. This violent activities viewed by children and adults in video games increase
areas of the brain that control emotional arousal and decrease parts of the brain that deal with self
control and empathy. Studies show that children become more

11. Similarities Between Matthew And The Gospel Of Luke
The Bible has four gospels but, only two of them contain the nativity story. The two gospels that have
the nativity story are the Gospel of Matthew and the Gospel of Luke. Both are similar on a literary
level which can be explained by the synoptic problem. The Gospel of Mark and the source Q were the
basis of these two gospels. Matthew and Luke shared sources but, they had their individual sources
too. The genealogy, the nativity, and the childhood of Jesus played significant roles within the
respective gospels. All components helped both authors generate a unique message to their audience.
Also, they provided an insight of the beginning of Jesus s journey and his mission on Earth.

The theory, Special Luke, is proven many times within Luke s portrayal of Jesus s genealogy, birth,
and young childhood. The Gospel of Luke began with chronicle of John the Baptist. An angel
appeared to Zechariah, the father of John, and announced that John the Baptist would be born. This
was a unique beginning because John the Baptist paved the way for Jesus and his ministry. Mary was
then visited by Angel Gabriel who announced the birth of Jesus. Mary then relied [h]ere am I, the
servant of the Lord; let it be with me according to your word (Luke 1:38). The narrative continued on
with Mary visiting her cousin Elizabeth, John the Baptist s mother. Elizabeth then gives birth to her
son and on the eighth day he is circumcised and named John. Luke decided to tell the nativity story in
Mary s perspective. This emphasized how everyone was accepted in God s kingdom and women were
disciples of God. Joseph and Mary had to travel to Judea from Nazareth, their hometown, for
registration. This led Mary to deliver Jesus in a barn somewhere in Bethlehem. Shepherds nearby were
notified of the Messiah s birth through angels. Eight days after Jesus s birth, he was circumcised and
named. Jesus was then presented to God in the Temple in Jerusalem. The holy family then returns to
Nazareth. By age twelve, Jesus and his family went to the Temple in Jerusalem for the festival of

One of the most essential success factor in multinational corporations is related with the organization s
group of extremely competent international leaders and managers who have the global knowledge of
consumer demands for services as well as products in a world scale, the knowledge of production and

backgrounds that make them think, analyze, decide, act and communicate in a different way than the

One of the challenges multicultural corporations have is to identify the right people with the skill sets

14. The Pros And Cons Of Search Engine Optimization
SEM or Search Engine Optimization is closely related to SEO (Search Engine Optimization). In fact, a
lot of SEM jobs will often expect you to know a bit about SEO. Because you can t do SEM without
additional skills. For instance, knowing how to work PPC advertising (i.e., Pay Per Click advertising)
is almost essential for those looking to work in SEM jobs.
To explain why SEO, SEM and PPC advertising is often interrelated in job descriptions, consider this:
In definition, SEO optimizes websites and web pages via content that contains selective keywords.
Whereas, SEM uses advertising and promotion methods to place certain web pages and websites in
the first page of search engine results. So the purpose is more or less the same for both. The only
difference is the method. Plus, SEM usually uses paid advertising methods too (which is not that
necessary for SEO). So paid advertising methods like PPC advertising is something the SEM
professionals should know about too.

15. Old Yeller Analysis
Old Yeller is a coming of age novel set in 1860s Texas that details the relationship between the Coates
family, especially the 14 year old son, Travis, and a stray dog named Old Yeller. The dog is named
both for his dingy yellow coat ( yeller as pronounced in the southern accent that permeates the
narrative) and his bark, which sounds more like a yell than the standard animal call. Yeller comes into
the Coates family s life after Jim, the father of the family, leaves on a cattle drive to Kansas. Before he
leaves, Jim tells Travis that he is now the man of the house until he returns home, a designation which
motivates Travis to take responsibility and make sacrifices for the good of his family. If Travis can
prove himself worthy of the designation of being a man, his father promises to give him a man s horse.
Although the Coates family is at the center of the narrative, it is Travis relationship with Yeller that is
the focus. When Yeller is first introduced, Travis not only finds him to be a nuisance but actively
despises him. The first time the dog is seen by Travis and the reader is the day after Jim has left the
family. Yeller has devoured a piece of meat that the family was about to prepare for a meal. Yeller
continues to cause trouble, with only younger brother Arliss devotion to him keeping Travis from
pushing him away from the household.

Since 1965 many people have immigrated to the greater Los Angeles area than anywhere within the
United States. These immigrants have rapidly and profoundly transformed the city s ethnic makeup

Angeles there are those who have been pushed out of their homes, which have been passed through
generations of ethnic minorities in other areas due to gentrification. These gentrified areas have been
renovated by the city to allow for a much more comfortable living experience. One specific way this
has happened is by allowing an ease of access to mainstream markets that provide necessary measures
for their lifestyle. However those of this community are not the only communities that wish to adhere
to this lifestyle. Many Angelinos, although living within a community that is seen as poor and

The Romantic Period was a very imaginative and creative period of thinking. The literature produced

Instead, these writers explored superstitions and had a renewed sense of passion for the wild, the

This is not even the complete list of Romantic elements found within the books borders. To sum up
the elements, one needs to include all of the conflicts found in the novel, both the internal and external
conflicts. These include things like Nature vs. Civilization, the Wild vs. the Tame, the Deep and
Elemental vs. the Superficial and Impermanent, and Natural Impulses vs. Artificial Restraint
(Agatucci, 4).
All of these different elements are combined into this one novel, showing the avant garde genius of
Emily Bronte. She was a very creative innovator full of an incredibly gifted imagination and
otherworldy sense for the supernatural ghosts of the past and the hidden personal demons found deep
in the unconscious mind, which she displays in the character of Heathcliff especially.
Heathcliff starts out in the story as the most outcast of the outcast. He is picked up and adopted from
the streets of Liverpool by the head of the household on one of his journeys to town he takes every
once in a while. He starts out as this ugly and hideous creature who is ridiculed and beaten by the
other kids in the house. He finds one true playmate and friend in the rambunctious Cathy, who is a free
spirit that falls in love with his mysterious character. This relationship becomes forbidden however
when the father dies and the oldest son takes over the household. Heathcliff is banished from the
house eventually,

21. African American Identity Of Resistance
Hudecek 1 Niko Hudecek The Identity of Resistance The humanity of African slaves was completely
annihilated on their transatlantic journeys to America. Stolen of everything tying them to their former
lives, enslaved Africans who didn t suffer physical death on slave ships often faced a social death that
utterly devastated their sense of identity. (Smallwood, 30) Replacing this void of identity came the
institutional force of commodification. But there were many ways that African Americans resisted this
dehumanising force and the institution of slavery. Thus, African American identity in early American
history evolved as African Americans resisted against commodification and the institution of slavery.

The moral leverage of military service was an effective method of gaining manumission from slavery,
but participation in the Revolutionary War provided a special opportunity for the evolution and
division of African American identity. (Lecture, 4/25/18) Most African Americans chose to side with
the British, in resistance to the nation that enslaved them. But despite initial bans on black military
service in the Continental Army, thousands of African Americans fought and died for the patriots and,
ironically, their message of freedom. (Holton, 10) Patriotism gave African Americans a new political
identity and turned them from slave to American. The language of the Revolution also provided
African Americans with a way to express their long standing grievances domestically. (5) The ideals
of liberty and natural rights sparked sharp increases of black petitions for freedom and the abolition of
slavery. (16) Enslaved African Americans started to have a legal voice that distinctly shifted from
arguments of earned freedom to more of rightful freedom.

22. Constantine and His Effect on Christianity
Constantine and his effect on Christianity When we look back at Christianity over the years, there are
several people who are remembered for their impact on the religion. The first most important figure
was Jesus Christ. However, if we travel forward a bit, into the 4th Century we come across
Constantine. Historians agree that Constantine served as an important component in the spread of
Christianity. Although he spread the religion in a massive way, others wonder if his methods were
more harmful then anything. In this paper I will be discussing Constantine in his rise to power and his
impact on Christianity. Constantine provided a mean for the word of God to be spread, which is a
major benefit. However, He also used violence and hate as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

According to Constantine s Porphyry Column, Constantine brutally murdered his son and wife. These
acts were directly against the Christian church, which gave the people of the Roman Empire an
inaccurate portrayal of the word of God. Many historians also believe that Constantine s acceptance of
Christianity was rooted in his hatred for the Jewish People. He used his negativity of Judaism as a way
to promote his new laws. Many of his new laws had Christian Characteristics. He believed that these
new laws would help him to dominate his people. Despite the fact that he gave Christians legal
freedom to practice their religion, he made them feel subordinate. This is a crucial flaw in the strategy
of Constantine. It removes the genuine nature of his acceptance. Because of this his actions are viewed
as blasphemy rather than something to be celebrated. This is largely due to the fact that he accepted
Christianity in the Roman Empire for selfish reasons. Because of his violent methods and selfish
ruling, Constantine hurt Christianity s image among the Roman people. Besides Constantine s hunger
for power, there was another detrimental flaw in his strategy for the spread of Christianity. According
to many historians, Constantine did not actually believe in the Christian religion. Although he made it
a priority to spread Christianity through the Roman Empire, He continued to worship the Sun God.
According to The Impact of Constantine on Christianity there was,

was the day on which the appellant expressed his wish to withdraw his offer. The 31st however fell
upon a Saturday, a day on which the shop was closed for trading. The law in question must therefore

Although this case involved an invitation to tender and not an invitation to treat, of notable
significance, was that the defendant was bound to check the mail on the last day. And as he did not, he
was found to be at fault. Although emphasis was placed on the above case concerning a tender, and
not an offer, similarities between the case details are evident. Although respondent is not bound to
consider all offers as a result of an invitation to treat, due to him already entering into part negotiations
by stating he would consider the appellants offer. The respondent may therefore be bound to check the
post on the final day of the offer incase any letters had arrived from the appellant. Further emphasis
may be placed on this, due to the fact that one of his offers had been made via postal communication.
Therefore it is likely that further means of communication from the appellant would also likely to be
in the form of postal communication. It is notable that the Law of contract adopts an objective
approach when identifying if the parties can be seen to have come to an agreement. Thus an objective
assessment is made of the content of their agreement, and an interpretation to be put on the language

We accept the reality of the world with which we re presented. It s as simple as that, quoted Christof
(Ed Harris) when asked about Truman s oblivion to reality versus the city surrounding him. When
presented with a film like The Truman Show, Peter Weir (Director) raises questions about the Real ,
how does it function in society and why is it seen as a desirable living environment? What are the
typical aspects of city life that can be depicted in an artificial space? Midway through the film the
hidden cameras on the set revealed that the set is placed in the centre of Hollywood, Los Angeles
instead of the man made creation of Seahaven Island. The main protagonist, Truman Burbank (Jim
Carrey) is raised to grow up in a reconstructed world, where his friends and neighbors are all hired
actors/actresses without his knowledge. His world is influenced by what is called New Urbanism in
the 1980s where cities tried to transform back into original middle class lifestyles to restore
cleanliness, walkability and a family friendly neighborhood. The Truman Show seems to represent a
contrasting view on American cities such as New York, Chicago or even Los Angeles, thus also
critiques the arguments presented on the negative aspects of city life by theorists such as Tom Slater.

Introduction
Fitness and muscle model athletes are often benchmarked as the embodiment of physical perfection
(Sundgot Borgen et al., 2011). That being said, not all athletes have, or believe that they have, bodies
adapted to the paradigm of their specific sport (Sundgot Borgen et al., 2011). These athletes may often
experience pressure to achieve this absolute ideal body type. Athletes competing in aesthetic sports
such as gymnasts, figure skaters, divers, bodybuilders experience greater pressure to reduce weight
than athletes competing in sports in which lean body mass aesthetic are less important (Drinkwater et
al., 2005). Within this class of athletes judged on aestheticism, fitness and muscle models are a class
whom are noted for dieting down to extremely low level of body fat to display muscle. There appears
to be a rise in competitive fitness and muscle model shows and the goal to emulate if not a sporting
aesthetic which will appeal domestically and commercially. (Scott et al., 2013).

28. The Pros And Cons Of Subsidies In The Market
Free markets are very effective in determining an equilibrium in the market that benefits everyone.
Nevertheless free markets do not always reach optimal output levels due to external market forces
such as demographic factors or technological changes. The fact that a free market does not reaches
optimal output is called market failure and leads to welfare loss (also called deadweight loss). In order
to avoid market failure, government intervention, such as subsidies, is needed.
Due to the industrialization and to new technologies the production of food became more effective

One of these possibilities are subsidies. A subsidy is a financial help by a government for a specific
economic sector in a country s economy.
According to the WTO (World Trade Organization) a subsidy is defined as a financial contribution by
a government which confers a benefit. Also the WTO states that there are two general types of
subsidies. The first type of subsidy is an export subsidy which is defined as a benefit conferred on a
firm by the government that is contingent on exports. The second type of subsidy is a domestic
subsidy which is defined as a benefit not directly linked to exports. (www.wto.org)
Subsidies are a way for governments to intervene in the market in order to guarantee a stable market
and to eradicate the welfare loss. Welfare loss, also known as deadweight loss, is the reduction in total
economic surplus that results from the adoption of a policy. (McDowell, 2009 p.201)
A subsidy can appear in different forms, such as cash payments, tax concessions, and in kind
subsidies. Subsidies that appear in form of cash payments are mostly paid via cheque or bank transfer
to specific chosen firms or institutions.

an extreme where people have gone to the ends of the earth to ensure that they look exactly like
Barbie does. For example, a Ukrainian model named Valeria Lukyanova. She endured countless and
costly plastic surgery procedures to make herself look exactly like Barbie. As she expressed in an

a cult like sect entitled Breatharianism, where the members believe that they can survive solely off of
Cosmic micro food consuming no real food or water. She shared her hopes for this new lifestyle
saying, I m hoping [not eating for multiple weeks is] the final stage before I can subsist on air and

Levack has been criticised by Barstow because he fails to mention gender throughout his book , and
therefore Levack as a historian may have taken an inaccurate approach to witchcraft as he avoided

strain in male attitudes towards women , it doesn t point to misogyny as a factor behind the witch

increase in the number of witch trials carried out. Hence, it could be argued that the Malleus wasn t of

35. Increase The Toughness Of Steels After Quenching Process
Abstract:
Tempering is an important heat treating process, which is used to increase the toughness of steels after
quenching process. Hollomon Jaffe equation H=T(c+logā”
t ) is widely used to predict hardness with
different tempering temperature and tempering time. T is the tempering temperature, t is the tempering
time and c is the constant for the specific steel. The physical explanation of c constant was not clear.
In this paper, the hardness and c/a ratio of tempered martensite for AISI 4140 were measured by X
Ray Diffraction and Rietveld refinement. The result reveals that the c/a ratio decreases instantly within
the first 60s tempering time. After analysis based on the experiment results and derivation of
Hollomon Jaffe equation, c, the parameter in Hollomon Jaffe equation, is found to stand for the slope
of carbon hardness curve.
Key words: Tempering, martensite, X ray diffraction, Hollomon Jaffe equation

Tempering improves the toughness of as quenched martensite (body center tetragonal) but lowers

36. Analysis Of Dramatic Irony In Marlowe
C
hristopher Marlowe has been characterized by various critics as a subjective playwright, one whose
passions are reflected in the passions of his characters. Michel Poirier states that Marlowe s mind is
spurred on by a passion similar to the one he has ascribed to some of the characters in his dramas.
Poirier concludes that there is a definite connection between Marlowe s temperament and ideas. His
desires govern his thoughts and his passions are the basis for his philosophy. Poirier considers that
egotism is at the centre of his life and works. Paul Kocher goes so far as to say that Marlowe s degree
of subjectivity as a dramatist is the most important problem of all interpretation of his work. Kocher

to light and emphasizes by art the contradictions of living. G. G. Sedgewick gives the following
definition of dramatic irony: Dramatic irony, in brief, is the sense of contradiction felt by spectators of
a drama who see a character acting in ignorance of his condition. This is dramatic irony in its
concentrated and specific form: it grows ... out of that pervasive and controlling knowledge which we
have called general irony and which is the property peculiar and essential to the illusion of the theatre.
Sharpe s and Sedgewick s definitions of irony and dramatic irony are especially meaningful when one
considers Marlowe s plays. The plays contain many contradictions of life contradictions between what
appears to be truth and what is truth, between aspiration and achievement, between speech and action.
And Marlowe s characters consistently act ignorant of their conditions. In Tamburlaine, Faustus,
Edward, Mortimer, Barabas, Guise, Dido, and other minor characters, Marlowe has created characters
in whom every speech and action involve ironic undertones resulting from this ignorance. This irony
establishes an objective position on the part of the playwright, thus, irony allowing Marlowe to

The assassination of John Fitzgerald Kennedy Jr. was a very emotional time in our nation s history.
This horrifying incident occurred on November 22, 1963, in a motorcade procession in Dallas, Texas.
At 12:30 in the afternoon the procession was going down Elm Street in Dealy Plaza, when shots were
fired. One struck President Kennedy in the throat and moments later a bullet tore apart his head. At
1:00 p.m., President JFK was pronounced dead. That same afternoon, Lee Harvey Oswald was
arrested as a suspect of murder. Oswald however, pleaded his innocence by stating, quot; I m just a
patsy. quot; This caused many suspicions and questions. Was he a lone assassin? Was he innocent?

Of all the interviewed doctors who attended the autopsy, and saw the photographs, some claim they do
not show a large wound in the right rear portion of the skull. There is a missing piece somewhere in
this investigation, but this is only the first.
After watching the Zapruder films, the investigation was faced with another problem. President JKF
was shot in the throat, Governor Connolly was shot in the back, a missed shot, and the fatal shot to the
president s head. Four shots with the Mannlicher Carcano, the supposed assassination weapon, in that
time span was impossible. Olympic champion, Hubert Hammerer said that he doubted he could
duplicate Oswald s actions. How is it possible for Oswald to be a better shot than an Olympic
Champion? The Commission was faced with yet another contradiction to their theory. So they
resolved it by saying that the bullet that struck the President s throat also hit Governor Connolly.
Although the wounds do not line up, the Warren Commission still stated it as the truth. The bullet that
struck JFK s throat was only slightly deformed, but when a bullet was shot through a cadaver s wrist,
it was bent greatly, so this too was a

40. Marketing Plan for Snap Fitness
Contents
Executive Summary
With today s society stressing a greater demand for flexibility, and ease of access to goods and
services, a trend has emerged for extended trading hours for service organizations. One of the main
profiteers of this trend is gym franchises. With over 1 billion people in the global population being
overweight, and the still present economic uncertainty leading to longer working hours for most
people, there is a demand for less rigid opening and closing hours of gyms. Consequently, the boom of
the 24 hour gym came about.

Jetts has received a Canstar award two years running. For the years of 2012 and 2013, Jetts was voted
as the No.1 gym chain in Australia for customer satisfaction. (Jetts, 2014)
Another similarly competitive gym is Stepz. As well as operating 24/7, Stepz is entirely Australia
owned, with clubs only within Australia. While this, to some people, would be a selling point, it also
poses a threat to Stepz whereby is creates less convenience for its patrons by having fewer clubs
members can attend (see figure 1.2). (Stepz, 2014)
A Stepz Memberships costs $13 a week, with a one off joining fee of $89, payable upfront and an
access card fee of $55, with which the member has access to any Stepz club Australia wide. (Stepz,
2014)
As too with Jetts, Stepz has no membership perks for gym members that exist outside the gym, i.e.,
retail discounts, etc.
Stepz employs a tactic whereby the number of members allowed to enrol in each club is limited. This
is done to provide the members with a more personalized service, and the staff can cater to the
members needs more specifically. Also, by limiting the number of patrons, it ensures that there will
rarely be a wait time to use gym equipment. (Stepz, 2014)
In today s market, there exist other types of rival services in the gym racket. Not gyms that offer round
the clock service, rather gyms that cater specifically to the specialty needs of their patrons gyms such

Making it as a footballer is a long and hard road to go down, it takes years of development and plenty
of determination. For many the journey begins from as young as playing for a local team at u7 s. This
is a very basic learning step in football, as you go up through the years, u11 s and onwards, this is
when clubs will send out scouts to begin to look at players who show potential, and bring them into a
Y.T.S (youth training system) For e.g. in Teignmouth the local team is Broadmeadow, from here there
are places like Torquay United or Plymouth Argyle. Generally, teams like these
43. The Red Badge Of Courage
The Red Badge of Courage is a war novel written to exemplify the experiences and emotions of a
young soldier in the American Civil War. The novel details the qualities of maturity and manhood in a
gripping tale of Private Henry Fleming of the Union Army. The author, Stephen Crane wishes to relate
the American public to the emotional and psychological challenges endured by countless men in the
Civil War. Born in 1871, Stephen Crane was raised in a Methodist family. While training to become a
professional baseball player, he eventually chose to write as his career. Throughout most of his life,
Stephen stuck to his commitment that all his work should be backed by personal experience on the
subject matter. However, his most famous work, The Red Badge of Courage was completely based on
his remarkable imagination. He had no war experience; however, his vivid descriptions and details of
war surprised critics with their incredible accuracy. Stephen s approach at writing the novel was to
emphasize the passion, confusion, and growth of the soldiers, as most of the war tales at the time were
merely factual. The Red Badge of Courage presents war in a new light, one of emotional struggles and
mental milestones. In the tense times of today, it is easy to forget the maturity and courage of our
nation s heroes. Many writers and politicians portray war as a battle between good and evil, or as a
fight for superiority. While this may be true, it is necessary to remember the

44. The Death Of A Manicurist
Death of a Manicurist When the time comes for a woman, or even a male, to get their nails done, it is
not typical to think about the impact on the workers. The lives of the technicians are deeply impacted
by their jobs and how dangerous the chemicals are they surround themselves with every day. Sarah
Maslin Nir s article Perfect Nails, Poisoned Workers from the New York Times, an article from
Scientific American by Dine Fine Maron, and The United States Department of Labor gives many
reasons why nail salons need to start protecting their staff. Workers suffer through painful losses and
many health problems; some of the medical problems are life threatening. The issues caused the
chemicals used and the health problems caused seem to be a lot for how long the products last. The
first major medical problem for salon workers are miscarriages and children having problems once
they are born. The chemicals from the products used can affect the baby months before it is due.
Maslin Nir interviewed a woman named Ms. Rocano, and she recounts what her doctor had told her:
When babies are forming in your womb, they absorb everything, and if they are exposed to anything,
it can cause them harm, (Maslin Nir 208). One chemical that is believed to specifically cause these
problems is Dibutyl Phthalate, which, in small amounts, is used in nail polishes and polish hardener.
Another chemical that can affect a woman s pregnancy is Ethyl methacrylate also known as EMA,
which is known to
