Operation âBlue Starâ is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Â
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
Â
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasnât one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

3. âThe higher the
grade, the fewer
children raised
their handsâŚ
Every school I
visited was
participating in
the suppression of
creative geniusâ.
5. Tom & David Kelley
Most people are born creative. As children, we
revel in imaginary play, ask outlandish questions,
draw blobs and call them dinosaurs. But over time,
because of socialization and formal education, a
lot of us start to stifle those impulses. We learn to
be warier of judgment, more cautious, more
analytical. The world seems to divide into
âcreativesâ and ânoncreatives,â and too many
people consciously or unconsciously resign
themselves to the latter category.
6.
7. Before we startâŚ
âŻWhat was the most creative
thing you did in the last one day?
week? âŚever?
âŻWhy do you think it was
âcreativeâ?
âŻHow do you define âcreativeâ?
8. What is Creativity?
⯠the state or quality of being creative.
⯠the ability to transcend traditional ideas,
rules, patterns, relationships, or the like,
and to create meaningful new ideas, forms,
methods, interpretations, etc.
⯠originality, progressiveness, or imagination
⯠the process by which one utilizes creative
ability
Dictionary.com
9. So, what is Creative?
⯠having the quality or power of creating.
⯠resulting from originality of thought,
expression, etc.; imaginative:
creative writing.
⯠originative; productive
⯠Facetious. using or creating exaggerated
or skewed data, information, etc.: creative
bookkeeping.
Dictionary.com
10. Osho
Creativity has nothing to do with any activity in particular â with painting, poetry,
dancing, singing.
Anything can be creative â you bring that quality to the activity. Activity itself is neither
creative nor uncreative. You can paint in an uncreative way. You can sing in an
uncreative way. You can clean the floor in a creative way. You can cook in a creative
way.
Creativity is the quality that you bring to the activity you are doing. It is an attitude, an
inner approach â how you look at things.
So the first thing to be remembered: don't confine creativity to anything in particular.
Creativity means loving whatsoever you do â enjoying, celebrating it, as a gift of
existence! Maybe nobody comes to know about it. Who is going to praise Paras for
cleaning this floor? History will not take any account of it; newspapers will not publish
her name and pictures â but that is irrelevant. She enjoyed it. The value is intrinsic.
11. OshoâŚ
"So if you are looking for fame and then you think you are
creative â if you become famous like Picasso, then you are
creative - then you will miss. Then you are, in fact, not creative at
all: you are a politician, ambitious. If fame happens, good. If it
doesn't happen, good. It should not be the consideration. The
consideration should be that you are enjoying whatsoever you
are doing. It is your love-affair.
The questioner asks: 'I believed I was uncreative.' If you believe
in that way, you will become uncreative â because belief is not
just belief. It opens doors; it closes doors. If you have a wrong
belief, then that will hang around you as a closed door. If you
believe that you are uncreative, you will become uncreative â
because that belief will obstruct, continuously negate, all
possibilities of flowing. It will not allow your energy to flow
because you will continuously say: 'I am uncreative
12. Steve Jobs
Creativity is just connecting things.
When you ask creative people how they
did something, they feel a little guilty
because they didn't really do it, they
just saw something. It seemed obvious
to them after a while. That's because
they were able to connect experiences
they've had and synthesize new things.
13. Edward de Bono
Creativity involves
breaking out of
established patterns in
order to look at things in
a different way.
14. Ken Robinson
Creativity is putting your
imagination to work, and
it's produced the most
extraordinary results in
human culture.
31. So, when is something
âcreativeâ?
http://vandewerk.nl/boost-creative-thinking/#more-2336
32. What Creativity is NOT?
âŻCreativity is NOT offensive
âŻCreativity is NOT abrasive
âŻCreativity is NOT complicated
âŻCreativity is NOT easy
âŻCreativity is NOT meaningless
http://www.thecreativealliance.com/creativity/5-things-creativity-not/#
33. Recap
⯠Creativity is about how we think, how we solve a
problem in a novel and meaningful way
⯠Anyone can be creative. In fact, we are all creative â we
just need to bring it out of us!
