Normalization is the technique of decomposing relational tables with anomalies to generate smaller and well-organized relations. The fundamental aim of normalization is to reduce redundancy, which represents that data to be saved only once in a relation. Normalization was established by IBM researcher E.F. Codd in the 1970s.

Relational databases have pretty much ruled over the IT world for the last 30 years. However, Web 2.0 and the incipient Internet of Things (IoT) are some of the sources of a data explosion that has proved to exceed the limits of what modern relational databases can handle in a growing number of cases. As a result, new technologies had to be developed to handle these new use cases. We generally group these technologies under the umbrella of Big Data. In this two part presentation, we will start by understanding how relational databases have evolved to become the powerhouses they are today. In part 2 we will look at how non SQL databases are tackling the big data problem to scale beyond what relational databases can provide us today.

Organizing Data in a Traditional File Environment
File organization Term and Concepts
Computer system organizes data in a hierarchy
Bit: Smallest unit of data; binary digit (0,1)
Byte: Group of bits that represents a single character
Field: Group of characters as word(s) or number
Record: Group of related fields
File: Group of records of same type

Using recycled concrete aggregates (RCA) for pavements is crucial to achieving sustainability. Implementing RCA for new pavement can minimize carbon footprint, conserve natural resources, reduce harmful emissions, and lower life cycle costs. Compared to natural aggregate (NA), RCA pavement has fewer comprehensive studies and sustainability assessments.

The proper function of the integrated circuit (IC) in an inhibiting electromagnetic environment has always been a serious concern throughout the decades of revolution in the world of electronics, from disjunct devices to today’s integrated circuit technology, where billions of transistors are combined on a single chip. The automotive industry and smart vehicles in particular, are confronting design issues such as being prone to electromagnetic interference (EMI). Electronic control devices calculate incorrect outputs because of EMI and sensors give misleading values which can prove fatal in case of automotives. In this paper, the authors have non exhaustively tried to review research work concerned with the investigation of EMI in ICs and prediction of this EMI using various modelling methodologies and measurement setups.
ACEP Magazine edition 4th launched on 05.06.2024Rahul
This document provides information about the third edition of the magazine "Sthapatya" published by the Association of Civil Engineers (Practicing) Aurangabad. It includes messages from current and past presidents of ACEP, memories and photos from past ACEP events, information on life time achievement awards given by ACEP, and a technical article on concrete maintenance, repairs and strengthening. The document highlights activities of ACEP and provides a technical educational article for members.
HEAP SORT ILLUSTRATED WITH HEAPIFY, BUILD HEAP FOR DYNAMIC ARRAYS.
Heap sort is a comparison-based sorting technique based on Binary Heap data structure. It is similar to the selection sort where we first find the minimum element and place the minimum element at the beginning. Repeat the same process for the remaining elements.
Water billing management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
Our project entitled “Water Billing Management System” aims is to generate Water bill with all the charges and penalty. Manual system that is employed is extremely laborious and quite inadequate. It only makes the process more difficult and hard.
The aim of our project is to develop a system that is meant to partially computerize the work performed in the Water Board like generating monthly Water bill, record of consuming unit of water, store record of the customer and previous unpaid record.
We used HTML/PHP as front end and MYSQL as back end for developing our project. HTML is primarily a visual design environment. We can create a android application by designing the form and that make up the user interface. Adding android application code to the form and the objects such as buttons and text boxes on them and adding any required support code in additional modular.
MySQL is free open source database that facilitates the effective management of the databases by connecting them to the software. It is a stable ,reliable and the powerful solution with the advanced features and advantages which are as follows: Data Security.MySQL is free open source database that facilitates the effective management of the databases by connecting them to the software.
1. Introduction
What is Database Management System?
A database management system (DBMS) is a collection of interrelated data and a set of programs to access
those data. The collection of data, usually referred to a database, contains information relevant to an
enterprise.
Goals of a DBMS
1. The primary goal of a DBMS is to provide an environment that is both convenient and efficient for people
to use in retrieving and storing information.
2. Database systems are designed to manage large bodies of information. Management of data involves
both defining structures for storage of information and providing mechanisms for manipulation of
information.
3. The database system must ensure the safety and security of the information stored, despite system
crashes or attempts at unauthorized access.
4. The system must avoid possible anomalous results if data are to be shared among several users.
1.1 Database System Applications
Databases are widely used. Some representative applications are:
1. Banking: For customer information, accounts, loans, banking transactions.
2. Airlines/Railways/Road Transport: For ticket reservation, schedules and routes.
3. Universities: For student information, courses and grades (education management).
4. Credit card transaction: For purchases on credit card, monthly statement generation
5. Telecommunication: For keeping records of call made, generating monthly bills, maintaining balances
on prepaid calling cards, storing information about the communication networks.
6. Finance: For storing information about holdings, sales, and purchases of financial instruments such as
stocks and bonds.
7. Sales: For customer, product and purchase information.
8. On-line retailers: For sales data model above plus on-line order tracking, generation of recommendation
lists and maintenance of on-line product evaluation.
9. Manufacturing: For management of supply chains and for tracking production of items in factories,
inventories of items in warehouses/stores and order for items.
10. Human resources: For information about employees, salaries, payroll taxes and benefits and for
generation of pay checks.
11. Internet: Internet is the major repository of database.
2. Some Commercial Database Management Systems
1. Oracle – Oracle 8i, Oracle9i, Oracle 10g
2. Microsoft SQL Server
3. IBM DB2/DB2UDB
4. Informix
5. Sybase
6. MySQL
7. Ingress
8. PostgreSQL
For Personal Computers
1. Microsoft Access
2. FoxPro
3. dBase
1.2 Purpose of Database Systems (Database Systems Vs File Systems)
Ordinary file system has a number of major drawbacks:
1. Data redundancy and inconsistency
- Multiple file formats, duplication of information in different files
2. Difficulty in accessing data
- Need to write a new program to carry out each new task
3. Data isolation
- Multiple files and formats
4. Integrity problems
- Integrity constraints (e.g. account balance > 0) become part of program code rather than being stated
explicitly
- Hard to add new constraints or change existing ones
5. Atomicity problems
- Failures may leave database in an inconsistent state with partial updates carried out. E.g., transfer of
funds from one account to another should either complete or not happen at all
6. Concurrent-access anomalies
- Needed for system performance and faster response
- Uncontrolled concurrent accesses can lead to inconsistencies. E.g. two people reading a balance and
updating it at the same time
7. Security problems
- Not every user of the database system should be able to access all the data. Hard to provide user access
3. to some data, but not all
Database systems offer solutions to all these problems
