3. We have discussed about setting up a recycling center in Taman Raya. The recycling center will
be at an abandoned warehouse near the neighborhood park. This helps to save cost as we don’t
need to buy land nor build a new building. To start up the recycling center, a loan of RM 80000
has been borrowed from the bank. RM 50000 will be used to purchase the warehouse, RM 10000
for the cost of the machines and RM 15000 for the fixtures.
Eco-friendly fixtures such as water harvesting systems and solar panel generators will be
installed in the recycling center. Furthermore, two machines are installed to assist in processing
recyclables. The first is to process plastic into polymer and the second, instantly process used
paper into new paper. The duration to install the fixtures and machines into the recycling center
will take approximately two months. Upon completion, permits will be obtained by the architect
from the Ministry of Ministry of Housing and Local Government (MHLG), the Department of
Environment, and the police department as well as approvals from Fire and Rescue Department
and Health Department. This process will take up to three weeks. The recycling center is
scheduled to be completed in 3 months.
The residential representative raised concerns about the sound pollution that would be produced
by the machines. She was assured by the scientist that the machine will be silent and would not
bother the residents. Another concern was about elderly residents. They are unable to bring their
recyclable materials to the center. The problem was solved by arranging for lorries that will go
around the neighborhood once a week.
