Microstructure (started base line, lattice parameters, unit cell volume, crystal size and the shape of formed crystalline phases) and measured physical properties of tin- zinc eutectic alloy changed after adding different ratio of indium content. A little variation occurred in thermo-graph (Endo-thermal peaks) of Sn91Zn9 alloy after adding indium. The contact angle, melting temperature and specific heat of Sn91Zn9 alloy decreased after adding indium content. Also elastic modulus and internal friction values of Sn91Zn9 alloy decreased after adding indium content. But electrical resistivity and Vickers hardness values of Sn91Zn9 alloy increased after adding indium content. The SnZn9In5 alloy has adequate properties for solder applications.

This presentation describes the thermal barrier coating process, its anatomy, types, material selection, failure, and characterization. Thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) were introduced to protect the external surface of gas turbine engine components from thermal resistance and thereby decrease the temperature of the metal surfaces. Yttria stabilized zirconia (YSZ) is one of the most popular and widely used TBC materials as it provides the best performance in high-temperature zones such as diesel engines and gas turbines. The columnar microstructure of YSZ coating provides excellent strain tolerance and adhesion to the coating. Gas turbines are used to power aircraft, trains, ships, electrical generators, pumps, gas compressors, and tanks.

The corrosion behavior of commercial aluminium alloy engine block and piston was investigated in 3.5% NaCl solution. The study was done by conventional gravimetric measurements and complemented by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray analyzer (EDX) investigations. The results obtained indicate that the alloys suffers a process of corrosion localized to the area surrounding the precipitates of the Al (Si, Mg) and Al-Mg, which resulted in hemispherical pits. No evidence was found of the formation of crystallographic pitting for exposure times up to 54 days. Gravimetric analysis confirmed that with varying exposure periods the weight loss of the alloys increases and the normal corrosion rate profile of an initial steep rise followed by subsequent fall were observed for both alloys. The rate of corrosion of piston was found to be lower than that of engine block due to presence of Ni and lower percentages of Fe in aluminium piston alloy.

Oxidation is the major degradation mechanism of failure for various components operating at high
temperature. Protective coatings are used to improve the oxidation resistance of such component. In the present
investigation, Al2O3 and Ni-20Cr coatings have been deposited on SAE431 boiler steel by Detonation Gun
Spraying Method. The oxidation performance of Al2O3 and Ni-20Cr coated as well as uncoated SAE-431 steel
has been evaluated in air under cyclic conditions at an elevated temperatures of 8000C. Al2O3 coating on
SAE431 boiler steel has shown approximately 26% improvement in the oxidation resistance of SAE431 steel
whereas Ni-20Cr coating on SAE431 boiler steel has indicated about 21% improvement in the oxidation
resistance as compared to the uncoated SAE431 boiler steel.

Відповідь водночас проста і надзвичайно складна: треба зменшити викиди вуглекислого газу, але для багатьох країн це потребуватиме глибокого переформатування енергетичного сектору.
Пошуки альтернатив вуглецевим джерелам енергії з метою пом’якшення впливу виробництва енергії на довкілля свідчать про те, що з атомною енергією на сьогодні поки що не може конкурувати жоден з видів генерації як за потужністю виробництва, так і за мінімальним рівнем впливу на довкілля та клімат.
Саме цей меседж намагалися донести представники Українського ядерного товариства, які взяли участь у Міжнародному марші за клімат в Україні 20 вересня 2019 року. Захистити своє право на безпечне довкілля без кліматичної кризи вийшли більше двох тисяч людей з 21 міста України. Учасники акції пройшли центральними вулицями міста Києва, від Михайлівської площі до Офісу Президента України, з вимогою до влади вжити реальних дій для боротьби зі зміною клімату шляхом розвитку низьковуглецевих джерел енергії в Україні, одним з яких є і ядерна генерація.

CFD analysis is incredibly effective at solving mysteries and improving the performance of complex systems!
Here's a great example: At a large natural gas-fired power plant, where they use waste heat to generate steam and energy, they were puzzled that their boiler wasn't producing as much steam as expected.
R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.

This paper addresses the vulnerability of deep learning models, particularly convolutional neural networks
(CNN)s, to adversarial attacks and presents a proactive training technique designed to counter them. We
introduce a novel volumization algorithm, which transforms 2D images into 3D volumetric representations.
When combined with 3D convolution and deep curriculum learning optimization (CLO), itsignificantly improves
the immunity of models against localized universal attacks by up to 40%. We evaluate our proposed approach
using contemporary CNN architectures and the modified Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR-10
and CIFAR-100) and ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC12) datasets, showcasing
accuracy improvements over previous techniques. The results indicate that the combination of the volumetric
input and curriculum learning holds significant promise for mitigating adversarial attacks without necessitating
adversary training.

Resistance of E110 Alloy with Cr/CrN Coatings To Hydrogen Saturation
Coated (9 μm) – 100 ppm
Saturation of E110 alloy with Cr/CrN coatings by
hydrogen from the gas phase was carried out at a
temperature of 420 °C for 50 hours.
Cr/CrN coatings with thickness ~14 μm reduce the concentration of hydrogen in
zirconium alloy E110 from 240 to 85 ppm after the test in a hydrogen atmosphere.

High oxidation of the alloy E110 occurs to the depth of ~ 150 μm with formation
of a monoclinic cracking ZrO2 film;
Cr2O3 oxide film is formed up to the depth of 5 μm and the there is no phase
of ZrO2 in the chromium coating.

Fuel rod models with chromium coating (10 μm) demonstrate :

Thermal cycling tests of fuel claddings models with coatings in steam at T = 600 - 900 °C

- In the initial Zr1Nb cracking and delaminating of oxide after temperature cycling
testing observed ;
- Cr and Cr/CrN coatings demonstrate the best result without cracking and
delamination.
Thermal cycling test: model fuel rods with internal pressure of 20 atm., holding for 1
min at test temperature, cooling to 100 °C; repeat 10 cycles at each temperature.

water P=150 atm., WWER water chemistry
Cr and Cr/CrN coatings demonstrate excellent corrosion resistance in
normal operation conditions

Summary
ATFC now is the one of the main safety task in reactor materials science;
Vacuum-arc nitride and metallic coatings were designed and tested on
zirconium fuel claddings in the concept of development ATFC in KIPT;
Coatings improve the mechanical properties (hardness and tensile
strength ) of zirconium tubes, increase the corrosion resistance and reduce
the amount of absorbed hydrogen;
Vacuum arc coatings reduce the oxidation rate of zirconium alloy under
high-temperature steam environment and in the air up to 1100 °C;
Zirconium claddings with chromium coatings showed the best resistance at
high temperature (600-1100 °C) tests;
Zirconium tubes with Cr and Cr/CrN coatings have high corrosion resistance
in nominal conditions and in the event of an accident.
