Knowledge Management Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of Knowledge Management can be quite challenging due to the
intricate nature of the subject matter. Knowledge Management encompasses a broad range of
concepts, theories, and practices that involve the identification, creation, distribution, and
utilization of knowledge within an organization. Crafting a comprehensive essay requires a deep
understanding of various disciplines such as information technology, business management,
organizational behavior, and more.
One of the primary difficulties is the need to strike a balance between theoretical concepts and
practical applications. Theoretical aspects often involve delving into complex frameworks,
models, and academic literature, while practical applications require a thorough examination of
real-world case studies, organizational strategies, and the implementation of knowledge
management systems.
Additionally, the evolving nature of technology and its impact on knowledge management
further adds to the complexity. Keeping abreast of the latest technological advancements, their
implications on knowledge processes, and integrating this dynamic landscape into the essay can
be demanding.
Moreover, ensuring coherence and logical flow in the essay becomes challenging, as knowledge
management is an interdisciplinary field. The integration of ideas from diverse areas, such as
psychology, sociology, and business, requires careful articulation to present a unified and well-
structured argument.
Lastly, the need for original insights and critical analysis poses a significant hurdle. Generating
novel perspectives on how organizations can effectively manage their knowledge resources
while critically evaluating existing approaches can be mentally taxing.
In conclusion, crafting a Knowledge Management essay demands a comprehensive
understanding of the subject, the ability to synthesize information from diverse sources, and the
skills to present a well-organized and insightful argument. It's a task that requires dedication,
time, and intellectual rigor.
If you find yourself struggling with such assignments, it's worth noting that assistance is

Essay on Lesson of the Evils of Liquor
A chemistry teacher wanted to teach his 9th grade class a lesson about the evils of
liquor, so he produced an experiment that involved a glass of water, a glass of
whiskey, and two worms.
quot; Now, class, observe the worms closely, quot; he said, putting a worm first into
the water. The worm in the water writhed about, happy as a worm in water could be.
The second worm he put into the whiskey. It writhed painfully, and quickly sank to
the bottom, dead as a doornail.
quot; Now, what lesson can we derive from this experiment? quot; the teacher asked.
One of the students raised his hand and wisely, responded, quot;Drink whiskey and
you won t get worms. quot;

What Is The Aftermath Of The Kent State Shooting
The Kent state shooting occurred in Ohio, at Kentucky State University in 1970. It
involved the shooting of four unarmed students by Ohio National guard. Shortly after
Richard Nixon attempted to gain the support of the American People to invade
Cambodia s borders, numerous students across all the states started to protest against
his quick expansion. Once threatened, the Federal government felt the need to use
military force to oppose the students, minimize violence and vandalism. Nevertheless,
several Americans felt that their constitutional rights were violated since the
government was attempting to dismiss their perspectives on the aftermaths from the
war in Vietnam. During one of the protests, particularly in Kent State a shooting

Essay On Tupac
Tupac Shakur was a sensitive, precociously talented yet troubled soul who came to
embrace the 1990s gangsta rap aesthetic and paid the ultimate price he was gunned
down in Las Vegas on September 7, 1996 and died six days later. His murder has
never been solved. He began his music career as a rebel with a cause to articulate
the travails and injustices endured by many African Americans, often from a male
point of view. His skill in doing so made him a spokesperson not just for his own
generation, but for subsequent ones who continue to face the same struggle for
equality. In death he became an icon symbolizing noble struggle, though in life his
biggest battle was sometimes with himself. As fate drove him towards the nihilism of

It was from Sekiya s father, another Panther called Mutulu Shakur, that the rapper
took his surname though Mutulu did not stick around either. A single mother of
two children, Afeni struggled for money and they moved homes often, sometimes
staying in shelters. They moved to Baltimore, and Tupac enrolled at the
prestigious Baltimore School for the Arts, at which he felt the freest I ever felt.
But their neighborhood was riven by crime, so the family moved again, this time
to Marin City in California, which turned out to be a mean little ghetto according
to Robert Sam Anison s comprehensive posthumous feature on Tupac for Vanity
Fair in 1997. It was in Marin City that Afeni succumbed to crack addiction a drug
her son, Tupac, would sell on the same streets as his mother bought her supply. But
Tupac s love for hip hop would steer him away from a life of crime (for a while at
least). At 17, in the spring of 1989, he met an older white woman, Leila Steinberg,
in a park, and they struck up a conversation about Winnie Mandela. Steinberg would
later recall a young man with fan like eyelashes, overflowing charisma, and the
most infectious laugh. By the time they met, Tupac was obsessively writing poetry

safe and its life in the world. I care about the destruction of these natural disasters.
There can be a buildingthat is one billion dollars that is just built, then it was
destroyed during a tornado or hurricane. The main point or question i m overall
trying to cover is that why don t we try to stop or predict and help fight the
disasters in the world. We can help in a lot of ways to help stop many things from
dying or the destruction it causes.I think I can, I will stop this by telling the world
that we can help prevent these natural disasters by helping each other to help predict
and someday prevent them.
There are many reasons to help prevent or stop these natural disasters. These
solutions are available because of the fact that we have a lot more people than we
need to help prevent or stop these natural disasters. These solutions include building,
donating, and in general stop doing stuff that is dangerous during a natural disaster
.One of these is building dams or walls to prevent tsunamis if the wall is big and
strong to prevent from these natural disasters from hitting.
The Influence Of The Traditional Family Dinners
1. How has the traditional family meal changed from the 1950s until now?
Subsequent to watching the videos and comparing the differences between families
back in the 1950 s and now, it is evident that there are many factors which have
influenced the change in the traditional family meal. Firstly, in the 1950 s there was
more of a traditional family structure. Therefore, the majority of families were
nuclear, consisting of a mother, father, and children. Nowadays, there has been
major changes to the structure and definition of families. In today s generation, the
trend of marriage is decreasing, and divorce rates are rising, resulting in various
different family structures. For example, the percentage of single parent families
has doubled since 1961. Due to this, single parents are forced to work in order to
support their families, consequently leaving less time for family dinners. , Back in
the 1950 s, family dinners were formerly a regular daily occurrence that members
of the family looked forward to. It was a priority and meant to be a positive, stress
free experience. Furthermore, family dinners have become less of a priority due to
the increased businesses of people s lives and the changes in priorities in general. In
contrast to back then, the idea of family has become more of a second thought, rather
than taking precedence over than everything else. Nowadays, extra curricular
activities play a major role in many families, therefore, leaving less time in evenings

Sectionalism In The 19th Century
During the Age of Jackson, America was still trying to find it s definite identity.
America was making progress, but they were not where they wanted to be yet. The
sense of optimism and ongoing expansion during the early 19th century that helped
to bring America together for a period both contributed to a time of happiness and
breakthroughs in which America is trying to be defined as a happy and thriving
nation. The rise of democracycoupled with the the gradual political process, both
magnify the degree to which America was still trying to find themselves politically.
The rise of sectionalism and decline of nationalism point to the once wavering aura of
togetherness and separateness and now complete dominance of sectionalism. These...

All of these things being said, nationalism is the result of these changes and feel
good moments. Togetherness separates America from the rest of the world during the
Era of Good Feelings to help portray America as a new thriving nation moving up.
America wasn t the only nation thriving . The Industrial Revolution in Europe (1750s
1840s) make the booming nations in Europe. Yet, America thrives at the expense of
being a very young nation that s gaining steam and doing it together. The steamboat
linked with the canal system helped to bring about hope and optimism and elevate
America into the world spotlight and helped a gradual transition from being a weak
and non self reliant nation.
In addition to expansion, a Jacksonian democracy with protective trade strategies
played a big part in ensuring uniqueness in America. In the U.S. in the early 1800s,
people who voted were white men, landowning, and quite wealthy all stemming from
Jeffersonian democracy. Jackson being a common man himself changed the idea of
what the regular voter looks like. He allowed non elitist, non land owning white men
to vote. But at the same time, he knew what that would look like in the national and
international spotlight. Jackson didn t search for uniqueness in male suffrage, but in a
way he did. He allowed male voting rights not trying to look unique on the
international level, but he knew a change needed to be made in who got to vote
despite looking different from most
Theories Of Agoraphobia
Because Agoraphobia was only recently recognised as a distinct disorder little is
known about how it is caused, however it is noted that Chambless and Gracely
explain it to be a fear of fear (fear of panic attacks and their real or imagined
consequences) rather than simply a fear of public places and of being away from
home (Chambless Gracely, 1989). It should also be noted that most people with
Agoraphobia will often also have other mental disorders, most frequently other
anxietydisorders (Association., 2013).
It is not surprising that there are several different paradigms that touch on
Agoraphobia; given it is one of the oldest known anxiety disorders or sub disorders.
However the main paradigms that have distinct theories in regards
Heroism In Huckleberry Finn, Daisy Miller, And Sister
Carrie
The definition of a hero is not straight edged. Heroes are, however, imagined to
possess certain qualities. Courage, romanticism, charming beauty, and a willingness
to defy society are four very prominent characteristics amongst heroes and contribute
to today s notion of heroism. In order to decide if and to what extent any character
lives up to the standards of heroism, one must search for these qualities.
Huckleberry Finn, Daisy Miller, and Sister Carrie are three heroes from three different
novels. It has already been decided that they are heroes. Therefore, the question is not
whether or not they are heroes. The question is to what extent do they fit this notion
of heroism? To what extent do they possess courage, ... Show more content on

In order to be brave, one cannot fear getting in trouble. Although he struggles with
this obstacle and wants to obey his widow guardian, Huck makes a huge decision
that shows his overall defeat of this fear: Huck decides to protect Jim, a runaway
slave. Huck knows he could get in trouble both by the law and by God. He knows
that he has a big decision to make, declaring, ?I?d got to decide, forever, betwixt
two things,? and he decides, ?All right, then, I?ll go to hell? (Twain 223). The fear
of punishment is an obstacle that Huck overcomes, and on the other side stands
courage. The mere fact that Huck is helping a runaway slave is courageous, but
specific actions further prove Huck?s bravery. A choice example is when Huck
takes the stolen money from the duke and king and returns it to the rightful owners
(Twain 188 191). Another instance where the reader sees that spark of courage in
Huck?s eyes is when, after boarding a wrecked, abandoned ferryboat and falling
upon a few villains, Huck bravely takes matters into his own hands: ?But if we find
their boat we can put all of ?em in a bad fix ? for the Sheriff ?ll get ?em. Quick ?
hurry! I?ll hunt the labboard side, you hunt the stabboard? (Twain 80). Instead of
seeing the ?gang of murderers? and cowardly going on his way, Huck tries to trap
them for the Sheriff. Thus, overall, Huck is courageous. Heroism, however, entails
more than courage. One must consider Huck?s romanticism, looks,
Economic Market Structures Paper
There are essentially three economic market structures that create completion barriers
within their given market. These structures are corporate monopolies, oligopolies,
and conglomerates. Though they all have the similarity of limited competition, they
also hold some distinctions as well. Monopolies are market structures that contain one
dominating, wealthy corporation. Monopolistic firms use anti competition practices
to create hardship for competitors making it nearly impossible to enter or compete in
the same market (Friedrichs, 2010, p.86). However, the Sherman Antitrust Act in
1890 made monopolies illegal, so now large corporations have shifted away from
monopolizing practices and lean towards oligopolyand conglomerate market

Internet/cable companies are a great example on an oligopoly, as there is little to
no choice in choosing which company you can receive internet/cable service from
and therefore can get away with cheating their customers. One specific corporation
that comes to mind is Comcast. Due to my home s location, I can only receive
internet service from three companies, Centurylink, Integra Telecom, and Comcast.
Integra Telecom is a small insignificant company that has inferior service compared
to Comcast and Centurylink. Centurylink is extremely expensive, and all three
have equally horrible customer service. So I opted to purchase internet/cable
service from Comcast due to their affordable package options and low promotional
discounted rates. For the first five months of my service, I was denied the
promotional price I signed up for and was overcharged with additional hidden fees.
Each of those five months I had to call, wait on hold for over an hour and sometimes
accidentally hung up on, before getting the issue resolved. Not surprisingly, an unfair
billing practices class action lawsuit was eventually filed against Comcast for
fraudulently misleading their customers with overcharges and hidden fees. (https:/
/www.bigclassaction.com/lawsuit/comcast unfair billing practices class action.php).
The class action lawsuit was later thrown out, but it served as a great example of an
oligopoly that is continuously involved in white collar crime with little to no

They share nice chemistry with each other. It s fun to watch when Blake taught Acer
to shoot. The audience easily root for the both of them.
The main antagonist, Farrall, is actually underwritten. He s definitely a worthy
adversary and the audience finds him to be despicable, but he goes missing from the
story after the murder and only comes back at the very end. Thus, he s not a very
consistent or relentless foe.
The dialogue is solid in that it s authentic to the culture and time. The dialogue reveals
information about the characters and their values and motivation. However, the script
does seem to rely a bit too much on dialogue, which also hinders the pace.
To sustain the tension the story offers various obstacles, but as mentioned, it slows
the pace and it s not directly connected with the main goal making the structure feel
fragment.
One would have rather have watched Blake and Acer track down the men responsible
for the family s death, one by one and get their revenge while overcoming obstacles.
Thus, in summary, the challenge in creating a compelling western is to find a new
hook to a familiar plotline. There might be something new about the characters that
help create a more refreshing hook. Try to create original
Opposing Views On Life After Death
Introduction:
Ultimate Questions are questions that cannot be answered or explained
scientifically. An example of one is Is There Life After Death , which will be
explored. Different religions and cultures believe that different things happen after
we die. Humans prepare for the future all their lives, yet meet the next life totally
unprepared. This is a quote by the Tibetan Master, Drakpa Gylsten. This quote
suggests that humans are rebirthed, and have new lives after death. Buddhists and
Christians have a somewhat contrasting view on life after death. Christians believe
that humans do not live only one life, but two. Catholics believe in a place called
purgatory, where people whom have un confessed sins go temporarily, until clean
enough to enter heaven. Buddhists believe in karma and rebirth. Religions have
opposing views on the topic of life after death, all which vary greatly.

What happens to your soul after you die?
Many people wonder what happens to your soul after you die and there are many
possibilities. Buddhists believe that you could enter six different realms, or be
rebirthed and Christians believe that depending on your faithfulness to God, after
death one either enters into heaven or hell.

Once I made it to the bottom of the sea I attached a shovel to the tip of my submarine

Attention Deficit Disorder Essay
Attention Deficit Disorder
Approximately 3 5% of all American children have an Attention Deficit
Disorder (ADD). ADD is a leading cause of school failure and under achievement.
ADD characteristics often arise in early childhood. As many as 50% of children with

likely to be undiagnosed with ADD. quot;ADD is not an attention disorder, but a

Without enough dopamine and related catecholamines, such as serotonin and
norepinephrine, the frontal lobes are under stimulated and thus unable to perform
their complex functions efficiently. Attention Deficit Disorder is strongly considered
genetically inherited, however, not all cases of ADD may be genetically linked. .
Studies have shown that 20 30% of all hyperactive children have a least one parent
with ADD. The environment is a big influence on a child during pregnancy and after.
Some studies show that a small percentage of ADD cases were influenced by
smoking, drinking alcohol, and using drugs during pregnancy.
Exposure to toxins, such as lead, may also alter the brain chemistry and function. If
you suspect that you are suffering from Attention Deficit Disorder you will need to
discuss it with your medical doctor. In most cases the doctor will recommend that
you visit a psychologist for an evaluation. The psychologist is professionally trained
in human behavior and will be able to provide counseling and testing in areas related
to mental health. The psychologist is not able to prescribe medication to help you,
but may send you to a psychiatrist to prescribe and monitor medication. A neurologist
may be consulted in order to rule out neurological conditions causing your symptoms.
Your doctor will gather information about your past and
Alexander The Great Was Responsible For Developing
World
During the fourth century, the ancient world was rocked by a dynamic political
figure from the unlikely territory of Macedon. Alexander the Great was responsible
for developing one of the largest empires the ancient world had ever witnessed. His
military campaigns yielded major territorial gains across multiple continents, earning
him incredible authority and prestige up to his untimely death. With the Macedonian
throne newly vacant, a power vacuum developed as military elites sought to seize
control over the empire. Known as the Successors, these individuals worked to build
off of the success of Alexander and establish their own dominion over new lands. In
their time as monarchs, Alexander and the Successors were responsible for the
livelihood of numerous populations, including the Greek world. Alexander and the
Successors maintained a strictly political relationship with the Greeksas their
monarchs, taking on the responsibilities the kingship demanded.
As a political figure, the ability to win loyalty was crucial to the acquisition of
royal power. For this reason, it was necessary for Alexander and the Successors to
maintain amicable relations with their Greek citizens. A significant role Alexander
and the Successors assumed over the Greeks was military champions. During his
military quests Alexander founded numerous cities in his name, adding to his already
impressive empire. Since he was incapable of overseeing his vast kingdom by
himself, he installed satraps to
Persuasive Speech About Violence Against Women
What is so special about our humanity? As human, We can express ourselves
however we want, We know the differences between right and wrong, and equal
does not mean that we have to act exactly the same. But it does mean that i have the
exact same rights as you, and should be treated with the same amount with the same
amount of respect and dignity you would want to be given. It should not matter what
you look like, where you from, your gender, or who you love.
We are all different and that should be respected. Everyone should be treated equally,
because violence against women is unacceptable, because the LGBT community has
gone through so much crap but they always thrive, because undocumented
immigrants are treated like human garbage for coming into a country to build a better
life for themselves and their families.
Women are 90 percent of rape victims in the united states, and 13 percent of rape
victim survivors will attempt to commit suicide. Women ages 16 to 19 are four

And Then There Were None Literary Analysis
Most gothic literature novels show several similarities in their writing compared to
one another. In the novel And Then There Were None and short story ВЁThe Rats in
the WallsВЁ the authors develop a gothic theme by expressing dark and mysterious
tones. Christie and Lovecraft s stories both have several similarities and differences.
In And Then There Were None, Christie shows how abandoned houses that are
isolated from surrounding places and people usually hold a mysterious history and
stories. Although several years separate these writings in literature, both explore how
ancient houses typically lead to secrets and mysteries.
In the novel And Then There Were None, Christie illustrates a remote and abandoned
island which has a large, old mansion located on it. The author causes the reader to
form a dark view over the house. She gives certain elements to the story which causes
suspicion to form. In addition, Lovecraft, the author of the short story ВЁThe Rats in
the Walls,ВЁ illustrates an old house that was built many years ago that was also
abandoned by most of it s owners. Lovecraft also forms suspicion by hinting around
about the history of the old mansion and a suggestion that there is something hiding
within the mansion. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although ВЁThe Rats in the WallsВЁ has no hint of a supernatural element, the novel
And Then There Were None does indeed have a hint of the supernatural. In the novel,
the author hints that maybe the killings are caused by a supernatural element hidden
within the mansion. Although there was no actual supernatural elements in the story
there was still a mention that it could be a possibility but it was later ruled out of the
equation. In the short story, Lovecraft does not mention any chance of supernatural
around the mansion. He rules out the suspicious behavior as a person or certain
animal that is terrorizing the people living in the
The Pros And Cons Of Global Inequity
As the societies and technology progress, the global market continues to expand
every day. Globalization in its current state seems to be a dichotomy of wishing to
help poverty on a global scale and wishing to use its existence to get ahead.
Nonetheless, the line is too often blurred between the two. Alison Brysk begins her
academic book Globalization and Human Rights with her own definition, saying,
Globalization is a package of transnational flows of people, production, investment,
information, ideas and authority (1). Fueled by the strict laws and regulations
regarding labor practices in countries such as those in Europe and America, many
businesses in the industrialized world look toward developing countries with the least
labor regulations for production purposes. This phenomenon has become known as
the race to the bottom in major media. As multinational corporations attempt to get
ahead through this process, it has exacerbated global inequity by providing workers
in developing countries with the production company s minimum wages and
protections. This growing issue caused by particular industries will be given as
context before showing the ways global inequity can be combatted on an individual
business level and a governmental level.
This spread of unethical outsourced production practices has reached an extreme in
several industries, two of which are chocolate and textile industries. According to
Dawson College Economics professor Brice Smith, child slavery and
Summary Of Gross s Neighbors
Gross really puts a focus on this one massacre and changed the thought that Poles
did not have any effect on the fate of the Jews living in Jedwabne during World
War ll. Gross is really honing in on the idea that these two different ethnic groups
(Jewish and non Jewish Poles) histories were intertwined in many ways. After
reading some of the back story and Neighbors part 1 its clear that Gross wants to
disturb the cultural disinclination in Poland over the history of their involvement
with anti Semitism, prejudice, and their little to no acknowledgement of Jewish
accounts as far as historical indications goes. In order to do this Gross includes
awful, horrific, and graphic accounts of violence against the Jews. Gross uses sources

How The Clean Water Is A Very Important Aspect Of Health
This report represents my individual effort. I did not receive or offer aid to anyone
when performing this assignment, nor did I plagiarize any material.
Signed: __________________________________________________________
Introduction Having clean water is a very crucial aspect of health. Many people don
t have access to clean water, this can be life threatening. There are lethal bacterial
infections that are present in water. There are many different diseases that can
acquire by drinking contaminated water like: cholera, typhoid fever, and dysentery.
The biggest concern and issue is the ingestion of water that is contaminated with fecal
matter (1). It has been discovered that the main source of bacteria is this fecal
contamination. Fecal matter can enter water sources by runoff from farms or any
area that contains many animals. This contamination can also come from insects,
rats, or other small animals entering wells or water sources (2). Testing the quality
of water, it is often common to test if the water contains coliforms. It is easier to
test for coliforms, instead of testing for bacteria that can cause each waterborne
disease. Coliforms are gram negative, facultative anaerobic bacteria that do not form
endospores. They are also rod shaped and will ferment lactose (slides). When they
ferment lactose, this will produce acid and gas. This acid and gas production will
allow the total coliform count to be determined.

Christopher Myers The Apartheid Of Children s Literature
Christopher Myers is an author and illustrator of the children s books. In his article
The Apartheid of Children s Literature he quoted the study by the Cooperative
Children s Book Center at the University of Wisconsin, which describes that out of
the 3,200 children s books published last year, just 93 books were written about black
peopleand characters. According to the text, the article transmits the values of the
children s books and how the diversity plays an important role in the books. The
main argument that the authors argued is a dearth of the characters of colors in the
children s literature. Also, the author s point of view has been concentrated on kid s
self esteem and self worth. He called this the mirror and the map functions of
literature. By using this comparison, he claims that kids unable to recognize
themselves in the story and don t see their future possibilities. The table/graphic, from
U.S.Census Bureau 2009, demonstrates the complete data for protagonist race. It
shows the most racial diversity. In the category Award winners 65.6% of
protagonists were white, 10.4% were Black, and Asian( 6.4%), Hispanic( 4.8%) and

author speaks out to publishers, librarians, teachers and parents. He encouraged

talking chimpanzee, and kids from Harlem, but he was told that the market for this
story just isn t there. This example draws how The Market had dictated the rules.

Integrated Criteria Decision Making And Multi Criteria...
Introduction to Artificial Intelligence Research Report CS6705 Prioritized Multi
Criteria Decision Making and Multi Criteria Aggregation By Rizwan Umaid Ali
Student # 3494784 Multi Criteria decision making (MCDM) is an area of
Artificial Intelligence which provides capabilities to assess complex decision
problems. The decisions can depend on our preferences of some criteria over
others. In this report, we analyze formulations of MCDM and Multi Criteria
Aggregation. To further understand this, we also see how we calculate prioritized
measure of Multi Criteria Aggregation and its Shapley index. Introduction For a
modern application, reaching satisfaction can depend upon several criteria. Each
criteria in it can be satisfied to reach an optimal result, but in real world scenarios
satisfying every criteria is impossible and even not required. For example, if a bill
needs to be passed by an executive committee, we will need only half of the
committee s approval to pass it. This leads us to think that we can reach satisfaction
with any set of members of the committee. In fact, there are several cases where
certain criteria have a higher priority than others and satisfaction cannot be reached
without them. For instance, if the president of the executive committee has to
approve the bill and other members just have to favour it, then the president will
dominate the other criteria. To logically state this we can say Satisfy criterion A and
if possible satisfy criterion B . We
Physics Of Volleyball
The Nature of Physical Activity
1.There are numerous fitness factors that are required for successful performance in
the sport of volleyball. Using the data from Figure 1, identify and analyse three
major fitness factors utilised in the game of volleyball. When are these most likely to
be used in a match?
Power is a crucial fitness factor in the game of volleyball. Upper body power is
necessary in order to execute common volleyball moves such as a serve or block but
also higher velocity shots, for example, a spike which travel at an average of 112
128km/hr. However, to even have the chance to perform a shot such as a spike or

African American Slave Rebellions In The 1800s
Slave revolts normally happened outside of the plantation system and in large
cities were the slaves were able to act more freely. It s estimated there were at least
250 slave rebellions in America before slavery was abolished in 1865.Most tales of
what happened during those rebellions could be bias seen as they were written by
whites rather than by the slaves that started the revolt. Since African American slaves
accounted for more than one third of the population in the 18th century, slave
rebellions were a large source of fear for white Americans in the south.

army from assembling outside Richmond and providing the city time to prepare a

authorities, Prosser and many of his followers escaped into the countryside.
Approximately 35 slaves that helped to lead the rebellion were caught and
executed; But Prosser escaped to Norfolk where he was betrayed by slaves who
claimed the reward for his. Prosser was shipped to Richmond and tried for his role
in the uprising. He was found guilty on October 6, 1800 and executed the following

Lennie and George Relationship in Steinbeck s Novel Essay
In this chapter of the novel, Steinbeck uses a lot of visual elements, strong dialect,
symbolism, tone and theme. Much of these elements are shown right from the
beginning of
the chapter when the two men, Lennie and George arrive at the bunk house. Right
from the
first sentence, the tone and imagery is already set off by introducing the walls [being]
whitewashed and the floor unpainted.(p17) In addition, he also introduces the bunks,
also
re enforcing the tone since the bunks are described as ...burlap sack of straw that was a

In addition to the theme of disposability, the theme
of social isolation is also quite apparent. For example, when the boss was getting
suspicious of George answering all of Lennies questions by commenting that Lennie

immediately
asked them to leave. Furthermore, the theme of social isolation is vividly displayed
with Crooks,
just because of his skin color, gives the boss rights to give the stable buck hell (p19)
whenever
he is upset at something.
The whole message Steinbeck is trying to convey through this chapter in the novel is
basically this ranch is like a mini society. Anyone in this society can hold power, and
when they
get into that position of power over others, they use it in irresponsible ways. For
example even
though the boss is the top of the social heirchy, his son Curley seems to have more
power over
the workers there than he does. Also, because of his position in the social pyramid ,
Curley can
tangle with any one of the workers without any troubles, however if Lennie, for
example,

The Contingency Theory Of Leadership
Introduction
The term leadership can be significantly defined as expressed as the overall process
through which a respective individual influences and provides the right kind of
support to others for the purpose of accomplishing a common objective, goal or task.
The leadership theories can be said to the significant assumptions that significantly
help in distinguishing the overall characteristics of any respective leader (Timpe,
2007). The leadership theories extensively focus on various specific qualities of a
leader which includes knowledge and levels and skills that separates the respective
leader from his or her followers. There exists various kinds of leadership theories but
amongst them great man theory, trait theory, situational leadership theory,, behavioral
leadership theory, contingency leadership theory, transformational leadership theory
and transactional leadership theory are considered to be the most significant. The
following essay has identified a significant leadership theory that can prove to be
significantly meaningful to a respective individual. In addition, the overall essay has

The contingency theory of leadership is seen to significant fail in providing proper
and appropriate explanation regarding the overall reasons for the effectiveness of
leadership in different types of situations or circumstances. From the contingency
leadership theory it is extensively hard to evaluate how a respective individual can
significantly reflect upon his or her own style of leadership. The contingency
leadership theory is not considered to be a process of development of leadership. It
has been observed that the contingency leadership theory fails to blend with a
leader s career growth. If the respective leader fails to change or adapt his respective
style, the respective leader fails to be productive at higher organizational levels

been so consumed by technology that they rode around on floating chairs sipping

Marriage Is The Fundamental Source Of Happiness
Introduction
Middlemarch was written in the years leading up to 1832, during the Reform act,
and this act was for the benefit of middle class people. Male defense of narrowing
of options was the female brain was not equal to the demands of commerce or the
professions, and women, simply by virtue of their sex, had no business mingling with
men in a man s world (Altick 54). Contrast with men without the added profit of a
formal education put conditions in front of many Victorian women to find the only
possibility available, marriage as a main occupation. Marriage is one of the important
themes in Middlemarch as most of the characters marry for love and yet marriage
still appears unpleasant and unromantic. Unlike other novels of that time, marriage
is not considered the fundamental source of happiness. An ill advised or not wise
marriage between two people who are inherently compatible never becomes
completely tuneful. Marriage is one of the major themes in Middlemarch as,
according to critic Francis George Steiner, both principle plots are case studies of
unsuccessful marriage . These lines give the suggestion that the lives of Dorothea
and Lydgate are vacant because of these disastrous marriages . These lines are
asserted more to the case for Lydgate than for Dorothea, who gets a second chance
through her lastly marriage to Will Ladislaw, her first husband s cousin; however, a
consent interpretation of this marriage is dependent upon the character of Ladislaw
himself,

Financial Aid in Education Essay
Financial Aid in Education
A guy in $50,000 of debt has got to be irresponsible with his money right? Actually, it
is more likely that he is a college student. Hundreds of thousands of college students
around the country are in a financial predicament because of the government?s
impersonal financial aid policies. The federal government?s current system has too
many quirks which end up hurting the people that financial aid is supposed to help.
The federal government should change its financial aid policies to take several more
factors, such as the percentage of educational expenses paid by the student, into
account.

The federal government does not use this application for aid. The CSS Profile is a
service provided by The College Board. It includes many more factors such as the age
of the parents, house payments, and car payments. Mostly expensive private
universities use the CSS Profile because their students have much more financial
need.
The current system does a fairly decent job of predicting the amount of aid needed
assuming both the parents and the student are paying for the student?s education. The
big problem with the system is that not all parents help pay for their child?s
education. According to the current system, the student would have to cover the
expected contribution from their parents as well as their own expected contribution
should their parents decide not to help foot the bill. For example, if a student from a
middle class family which is earning $70,000 a year. Assuming the student was
earning $3,000, and that student wanted to attend Duke University, approximately
$33,000 a year, the family would be expected to pay $13,641 of the bill for each
year2. If the parents choose not to help the student pay, then it would be the student?s
responsibility to pay every bit of the $13,641. How many students graduating high
school can afford that? I think that this factor could quite possibly be the biggest
reason that students think they cannot afford college.
Another problem is that the current system actually punishes students for saving their

clinical study showed that being even moderately overweight increases one s risk for
developing gallstones.
Secondly, excess estrogen from pregnancy, hormone replacement therapy or birth
control pills appears to increase cholesterol levels in bile and decrease gallbladder
movement, both of which can lead to gallstones.
Ethnicity is another important factor. According to scientists, Native Americans
have a genetic predisposition to secrete high levels of cholesterol in bile. In fact,
they have the highest rates of gallstones in the United States. A majority of Native
American men have gallstones by age 60. Among the Pima Indians of Arizona, 70
percent of women have gallstones by age 30. Mexican Americans men and women
of all ages also have high rates of gallstones.
The fourth factor is Cholesterol lowering drugs. Drugs that lower cholesterol levels
in blood actually increase the amount of cholesterol secreted in bile. This in turn can
increase the risk of gallstones.
Another factor is rapid weight loss. As the body metabolizes fat during rapid weight
loss, it causes the liver to secrete extra cholesterol into bile, which can cause
gallstones.
Gallstones may sometimes cause certain symptoms. These symptoms include
Chronic Indigestion, which have symptoms such as nausea, heartburn and bloating.

African Dust and Microbial Pathogens Essay example
The atmosphere is a relatively unexplored and unthought of environment for a
microbial habitat. Approximately 0.5 to 5.0 billion tons of dust travels in the
atmosphere each year throughout the globe or within a particular region (Perkins,
2001). Dust is transported from Africa, other countries with large deserts and contains
diverse microbial communities (bacteria and fungi) often containing pathogens. Data
presented within the current and past century has shown that microbes are capable of
withstanding environments exposing them to desiccation, UV, and other physical
stresses, making them a good candidate for airborne global travel. Knowledge of
these various microbes is increasing due to concerns over human health and oceanic
diseases... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most dust circulates to the Caribbean, North and Central America during June
through October (Graham, 1979). Climate change has greatly affected dust transport
partially because of decreased rainfall. Anthropogenic influence creates aerosols in the
atmosphere and are derived from three primary sources: biomass burning, desert dust
and pollution due to anthropogenic effects. Increasing agricultural land use (over
grazing and over farming) are just a few of the contributing problems. The dust
created by increasing desertification provides issues for human and marine health.
Generally, ill health is correlated to higher dust storm rates, bacteria and fungi can be
carried across seas for international infection, and dust storms can damage Florida
flora by blocking sunlight preventing photosynthesis. Currently, there is still much
information to be studied on African dust and how it affects various organisms. It is
widely accepted that studies of African dust confirm human impact on the
environment must decrease and we must find more efficient ways of agricultural
development otherwise problems will continue to arise in many forms.
Coral reef decline has thought to be linked with the rise of African dust, due to the
demise of reef health since 1970. Since 1974, 29 major marine outbreaks have been
recorded and of the 29, 20 of them were located in the Atlantic basin and nearby
areas (Sherman et al., 1992). 8 of the 29

The western diamond backed rattlesnake can be found in arid and semi arid habitats,

and coastal islands (Arkive, 2015).
Known as the fifth largest river in the United States the Rio Grande River is 1,885
miles long and since 1848 became a boundary between Mexico and United States. It
flows through the head waters of the San Juan Mountains in Colorado and it runs
to Gulf of Mexico close to the city of Brownsville, TX. The Rio Grande River flows
through arid regions, which is very important for both the human consumption and
a source of water for wildlife. Because a large proportion of the river s basin is arid

The Conflict Theory Of Social Groups
Intergroup Competition is the idea that social groups will extend from the desire
for a group to gain the scarce resources that exist (36 40). This idea is greatly
supported by the segment on affirmative action in the video (36 40). As said in the
movie, the idea is that scholarship money and grant money is a scarce resource when
students decide to go to college (37 40). In this view, the individuals who are against
affirmative actionare competing for that scarce resource (36 40). By using
techniques like affirmative action and racial and/or ethnic based scholarships
present the subordinate group s strive for power, and the arguments against these
resources are the dominant group s attempt to maintain their power (36 40).
Moreover, the strive to gain these programs is not just for their own individual self
interest, but is for the interest of their social group as a whole to maintain the
group s desires (36 40). It is in this belief that s the Realistic Conflict Theory resides
(36 40). In this, their exists the view that this conflict for scarce resources
subsequently produces prejudice, in which a privileged group has a sense of group
position and strives to protect it (36 40). This is shown in the video by the idea of
reverse racism, in which the dominant group tries to grain pity for their loss of
domination by saying that affirmative action gives African Americans an unfair
advantage, thus racially profiling the subordinate group while trying to maintain their
Essay On The Eucharist
When one thinks of the Eucharist, they might think that it is just Christ s Body and
Blood, and after we receive it, we can go along doing our own thing. That is false.
You see, the Eucharist is not just something you receive on Sunday, and forget about;
it is more than that. We are called to perform services in the world and in our
communities because of the Eucharist. This paper is about what we are called to do
after we receive the Eucharist, and what we as Catholics should be doing already.
The Eucharist enables us to come together as a Church every Sunday, and sometimes
more often than that. It also unites us with the angels in heaven and the deceased,
which enables all of God s people to participate in the celebration of Jesuss sacrifice.
As Catholics, we never really worship alone. At the Eucharistic Liturgy, we gather
with the young and old, the rich and poor, as well as millions around the world and
the saints in heaven, to celebrate Christ s sacrifice (Body of Christ, Broken for the
World).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One soon begins to realize that all people are children of God and need to be
treated equally with dignity and respect, no matter what their race, social status,
etc. Let me remind you: this is because of the Eucharist. The Eucharist educates us
to this love in a deeper way; it shows us, in fact, what value each person, our
brother or sister, has in God s eyes, if Christ offers Himself equally to each one,
under the species of bread and wine. If our Eucharistic worship is authentic, it must
make us grow in awareness of the dignity of each person. The awareness of that
dignity becomes the deepest motive of our relationship with our neighbor (Dominicae

The Popular Book Tuesdays with Morrie Essay
The reason why I chose to read this book is because my friend recommended it to
me as a heart felt and inspiring story, which I am interested in. Another reason is that
in my surprise, the libraries I went to said that the book was checked out, which
made me all the more interested to read it due to its popularity.
Mitch Albom, the main character, narrator and author, writes about his relationship
with his favorite professor, which is another main character, Morrie Schwartz. The
setting takes place during the year of 1995 in West Newton, Massachusetts in Morrie
s home. The major conflict is Morrie s battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis
(ALS). The climax is during the last Tuesday, Mitch visits Morrie when Mitch gives
Morrie a hug and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He states that we must not hold onto things permanently because every aspect in the
world is only temporary. This is shown through Morrie s acceptance with death
because when he suffers with severe coughing, one cough can be his last.
Another one of Morrie s philosophies include rejecting popular cultural mores by
creating your own path and values. Morrie constantly tells Mitch to ignore society s
influence, fancy, and standards because people just suffer from it because Mitch
focuses on his busy work life and materialism. However, Morrie was able to
enlighten Mitch by having him open his eyes to the true fulfillments one must have
in life, which is love.
Morrie emphasizes on love through the aphorism, Love each other or perish (133).
He stresses this quote by saying that in order to survive, love should be a necessity.
People must circulate the love to one another through a give and take cycle or there
is no reason of living. Morrie wants to leave this message to Mitch, who will share it
to the world, that love brings meaning in life and without it, we might as well be dead.
The author s purpose in writing this book, through first person narration, is that
Mitch was inspired by his own college professor, Morrie. This literature style gives
the reader a more personal approach. The reader can sympathize and relate to Morrie
and Mitch, which the book s touching and gentle tone through many inspiring
aphorisms.
I honestly do like the book. From the beginning,
Thomas Cranmer s Presence In The Eucharist
It has been widely contended that Thomas Cranmer s thoughts on the presence of
Christ in the Eucharist had wavered throughout his time as a theologian, and that his
writings are somewhat ambiguous when it comes to addressing this important
theological topic. Many academics agree that Cranmer is not overly notable for his
clarity in writing and concede that this ambiguity, especially on writings of the
presence in the Eucharist, is due to the long and uneven evolution of his
understanding of the presence. According to Daniel Marrs, a biographer was once
quoted in saying that Cranmer was a man of liberal sympathies and a man of
extraordinary charm and goes on to say that Cranmer s abilities as a leader was
questionable at best because Cranmer s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He still felt that the presence of Christ was within the Eucharist, and conceded his
reluctance to admit to transubstantiation in a letter to Thomas Cromwell. In the letter,
Cranmer admitted that he found the anti transubstantiation writings of Adam
Damplip to be quite compelling. This was quite a position for Cranmer to take,
considering he was at one time so fervent in his position on transubstantiation that
he was responsible for eleven of the executions of people who refuted the belief in
the real blood and body presence of Christ in the Eucharist. In Cranmer s True and
Catholick Doctrine of the Sacrament Cranmer describes a spiritual presence of
Christ in the Eucharist. This moved away from the Zwinglian theory of
memorialism (which Cranmer did explore briefly) and was more cohesive with
the Calvinist view. He says that those who worthily eat and drink of the bread and
wine receive his spirit within the sacrament. He determined that there was a two
fold presence of Jesus Christ within the Eucharist and described the figurative
presence that occurs when the consecrator repeats the words of Christ at the last
supper to remind us of Christ s sacrifice and that the spiritual presence exists for
those who worthily eat and drink. In the prayer book of 1549 we are permitted a
glimpse of the real presence and spiritual presence debate that was
Essay On Duty To Warn
Duty to Warn Genetic testing has provided individuals the opportunity to make life
saving choices in their health care. If a family member is made aware of a genetic
condition such as breast cancer and understands that her sisters and their daughters
could also be at risk for the same genetic condition, she is obligated to discuss this
with them. I couldn t imagine someone being resistant in providing lifesaving
information. My opinion is the majority of people would be more than happy to
share this information. For those who chose to keep the information confidential I
find this to be a selfish decision. However, as a healthcare professional it is important
to avoid judging the patient. I must provide respect and support. Education is a
Military Discipline Essay
Military Discipline Where to start, lets see discipline in the military from the
beginning to now. Well from the start of the civil war the military was not as it is
now. Then solders was a solder 24 7 back then, and the only time they had to them
self was when the war was over. Now, we still solders 24 7 but we have more
personel time to deal with familys and to start a family. But that is up to the solder,
anyway over the years the military had to change to keep the morale up in the
military. So the military came up with some rules to keep people in the military and
add to the ranks. Discipline is key to a good unit or any thing dealing with the
military. If you look in any book that the military put out, discipline is in... Show

That was when the UCMJ came in to play, that was when discipline was key in and
out of work. As the times changes so did the UCMJ as well, from the way we act
to killing people and other things that i don t even like to take about. Discipline
can hurt you or help you as far as moving up in the ranks. Back then, solders that
did wrong things got killed on the spot or got the rope from a tree. Now a days,
people go to jail or put to death depening on where you are in the world. If you
show that you got the discipline to be a great leader, then great things will happen
for those who show the that the military is a good thing to happen to a person s
life. Because of discipline in the military i have seen people go from shit bag to a
great NCO. Reason for that is once again of discipline can change a person s way
of life. Back then it was the same. You show that you can lead then you move up
the ranks. That haven t change in over the years. Today the military got different
people as far as color of skin or backgrounds. In the civil war, the south had white
people in the ranks. But the north had blacks and whites fighting for the samething.
As the times change so did the military when it came to race or color of skin. The
discipline in units when it came to that was hard but we as the United States over
come that with discipline and UCMJ. The military came with EO reps in
Theme Of Time In A Rose For Emily
In A Rose for Emily, Faulkner uses the aspect of time to accentuate details of the
setting and vice versa. By disregarding the chronological order of development of
Miss Emily s life, at first Faulkner gives the reader a finished complexity, and then
allows the reader to examine this puzzle step by step, piece by piece. By doing this,
he enhances the plot and portrays two different angles of timeheld by the characters.
The first perspective, the world as the present, shows time as a progression and the
past is a shrinking road. The second perspective, the world of tradition and the past,
views the past as a huge meadow which no winter ever quite touches, divided from
them now by the narrow bottleneck of the most recent decade of years. (5) The
first perspective is based on Homer and the modern generation. The second is based
on confederate soldiers and the older members of the Board of Aldermen. Emily
holds the second view too, however for her there is no bottleneck separating her from
the meadow of the past.
Faulkner starts off the story with Miss Emily s funeral, where the men see her as a
fallen monument (1) and the women are curious about the inside of her house. He
draws a picture of a woman who is fragile because she has fallen, but still symbolic
and important like a monument. The particulars of Miss Emily s house are very
similar to her and symbolize what she stands for. It is set on what had once been the
most select street. (1) The narrator, which is the

Knowledge Management Essay. Knowledge Management as a Source of Business Success Free Essay Example

  • 1. Knowledge Management Essay Writing an essay on the topic of Knowledge Management can be quite challenging due to the intricate nature of the subject matter. Knowledge Management encompasses a broad range of concepts, theories, and practices that involve the identification, creation, distribution, and utilization of knowledge within an organization. Crafting a comprehensive essay requires a deep understanding of various disciplines such as information technology, business management, organizational behavior, and more. One of the primary difficulties is the need to strike a balance between theoretical concepts and practical applications. Theoretical aspects often involve delving into complex frameworks, models, and academic literature, while practical applications require a thorough examination of real-world case studies, organizational strategies, and the implementation of knowledge management systems. Additionally, the evolving nature of technology and its impact on knowledge management further adds to the complexity. Keeping abreast of the latest technological advancements, their implications on knowledge processes, and integrating this dynamic landscape into the essay can be demanding. Moreover, ensuring coherence and logical flow in the essay becomes challenging, as knowledge management is an interdisciplinary field. The integration of ideas from diverse areas, such as psychology, sociology, and business, requires careful articulation to present a unified and well- structured argument. Lastly, the need for original insights and critical analysis poses a significant hurdle. Generating novel perspectives on how organizations can effectively manage their knowledge resources while critically evaluating existing approaches can be mentally taxing. In conclusion, crafting a Knowledge Management essay demands a comprehensive understanding of the subject, the ability to synthesize information from diverse sources, and the skills to present a well-organized and insightful argument. It's a task that requires dedication, time, and intellectual rigor. If you find yourself struggling with such assignments, it's worth noting that assistance is available. Essay on Lesson of the Evils of Liquor A chemistry teacher wanted to teach his 9th grade class a lesson about the evils of liquor, so he produced an experiment that involved a glass of water, a glass of whiskey, and two worms. quot; Now, class, observe the worms closely, quot; he said, putting a worm first into the water. The worm in the water writhed about, happy as a worm in water could be. The second worm he put into the whiskey. It writhed painfully, and quickly sank to the bottom, dead as a doornail. quot; Now, what lesson can we derive from this experiment? quot; the teacher asked. It involved the shooting of four unarmed students by Ohio National guard. Shortly after Richard Nixon attempted to gain the support of the American People to invade Cambodia s borders, numerous students across all the states started to protest against his quick expansion. Essay On Tupac Tupac Shakur was a sensitive, precociously talented yet troubled soul who came to embrace the 1990s gangsta rap aesthetic and paid the ultimate price he was gunned down in Las Vegas on September 7, 1996 and died six days later. His murder has never been solved. He began his music career as a rebel with a cause to articulate the travails and injustices endured by many African Americans, often from a male point of view. His skill in doing so made him a spokesperson not just for his own generation, but for subsequent ones who continue to face the same struggle for equality. In death he became an icon symbolizing noble struggle, though in life his biggest battle was sometimes with himself. As fate drove him towards the nihilism of gangsta... A single mother of two children, Afeni struggled for money and they moved homes often, sometimes staying in shelters. They moved to Baltimore, and Tupac enrolled at the prestigious Baltimore School for the Arts, at which he felt the freest I ever felt. But their neighborhood was riven by crime, so the family moved again, this time to Marin City in California, which turned out to be a mean little ghetto according to Robert Sam Anison s comprehensive posthumous feature on Tupac for Vanity Fair in 1997. It was in Marin City that Afeni succumbed to crack addiction a drug her son, Tupac, would sell on the same streets as his mother bought her supply. But Tupac s love for hip hop would steer him away from a life of crime (for a while at least). At 17, in the spring of 1989, he met an older white woman, Leila Steinberg, in a park, and they struck up a conversation about Winnie Mandela. Steinberg would later recall a young man with fan like eyelashes, overflowing charisma, and the most infectious laugh. By the time they met, Tupac was obsessively writing poetry ( The world moves fast and it would rather pass u by / than 2 stop and c what makes you cry, is one verse from around that time and would eventually be published in the 2000 book The Rose that Grew from Concrete). • 9. The Causes Of Natural Disasters Three people during a dangerous hurricane try to stay alive, and one person walks to the bathroom. While he is walking to the bathroom a window breaks and a piece of glass cuts him in the neck. They can not call the ambulance because of the hurricane. He later dies in her own home from blood loss. (bleeding to death)I wanted to research on this natural disasters because I want to help make the world safe and its life in the world. I care about the destruction of these natural disasters. There can be a buildingthat is one billion dollars that is just built, then it was destroyed during a tornado or hurricane. The main point or question i m overall trying to cover is that why don t we try to stop or predict and help fight the disasters in the world. We can help in a lot of ways to help stop many things from dying or the destruction it causes.I think I can, I will stop this by telling the world that we can help prevent these natural disasters by helping each other to help predict and someday prevent them. There are many reasons to help prevent or stop these natural disasters. These solutions are available because of the fact that we have a lot more people than we need to help prevent or stop these natural disasters. These solutions include building, donating, and in general stop doing stuff that is dangerous during a natural disaster .One of these is building dams or walls to prevent tsunamis if the wall is big and strong to prevent from these natural disasters from hitting.
  • 10. The Influence Of The Traditional Family Dinners 1. How has the traditional family meal changed from the 1950s until now? Subsequent to watching the videos and comparing the differences between families back in the 1950 s and now, it is evident that there are many factors which have influenced the change in the traditional family meal. Firstly, in the 1950 s there was more of a traditional family structure. Therefore, the majority of families were nuclear, consisting of a mother, father, and children. Nowadays, there has been major changes to the structure and definition of families. In today s generation, the trend of marriage is decreasing, and divorce rates are rising, resulting in various different family structures. For example, the percentage of single parent families has doubled since 1961. Due to this, single parents are forced to work in order to support their families, consequently leaving less time for family dinners. , Back in the 1950 s, family dinners were formerly a regular daily occurrence that members of the family looked forward to. It was a priority and meant to be a positive, stress free experience. Furthermore, family dinners have become less of a priority due to the increased businesses of people s lives and the changes in priorities in general. In contrast to back then, the idea of family has become more of a second thought, rather than taking precedence over than everything else. Nowadays, extra curricular activities play a major role in many families, therefore, leaving less time in evenings

  • 12. Sectionalism In The 19th Century During the Age of Jackson, America was still trying to find it s definite identity. America was making progress, but they were not where they wanted to be yet. The sense of optimism and ongoing expansion during the early 19th century that helped to bring America together for a period both contributed to a time of happiness and breakthroughs in which America is trying to be defined as a happy and thriving nation. The rise of democracycoupled with the the gradual political process, both magnify the degree to which America was still trying to find themselves politically. The rise of sectionalism and decline of nationalism point to the once wavering aura of togetherness and separateness and now complete dominance of sectionalism. These... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All of these things being said, nationalism is the result of these changes and feel good moments. Togetherness separates America from the rest of the world during the Era of Good Feelings to help portray America as a new thriving nation moving up. America wasn t the only nation thriving . The Industrial Revolution in Europe (1750s 1840s) make the booming nations in Europe. Yet, America thrives at the expense of being a very young nation that s gaining steam and doing it together. The steamboat linked with the canal system helped to bring about hope and optimism and elevate America into the world spotlight and helped a gradual transition from being a weak and non self reliant nation. In addition to expansion, a Jacksonian democracy with protective trade strategies played a big part in ensuring uniqueness in America. In the U.S. in the early 1800s, people who voted were white men, landowning, and quite wealthy all stemming from Jeffersonian democracy. Jackson being a common man himself changed the idea of what the regular voter looks like. He allowed non elitist, non land owning white men to vote. But at the same time, he knew what that would look like in the national and international spotlight. Jackson didn t search for uniqueness in male suffrage, but in a way he did. He allowed male voting rights not trying to look unique on the international level, but he knew a change needed to be made in who got to vote despite looking different from most
  • 13. Theories Of Agoraphobia Because Agoraphobia was only recently recognised as a distinct disorder little is known about how it is caused, however it is noted that Chambless and Gracely explain it to be a fear of fear (fear of panic attacks and their real or imagined consequences) rather than simply a fear of public places and of being away from home (Chambless Gracely, 1989). It should also be noted that most people with Agoraphobia will often also have other mental disorders, most frequently other anxietydisorders (Association., 2013). It is not surprising that there are several different paradigms that touch on Agoraphobia; given it is one of the oldest known anxiety disorders or sub disorders. However the main paradigms that have distinct theories in regards
  • 14. Heroism In Huckleberry Finn, Daisy Miller, And Sister Carrie The definition of a hero is not straight edged. Heroes are, however, imagined to possess certain qualities. Courage, romanticism, charming beauty, and a willingness to defy society are four very prominent characteristics amongst heroes and contribute to today s notion of heroism. In order to decide if and to what extent any character lives up to the standards of heroism, one must search for these qualities. Huckleberry Finn, Daisy Miller, and Sister Carrie are three heroes from three different novels. It has already been decided that they are heroes. Therefore, the question is not whether or not they are heroes. The question is to what extent do they fit this notion of heroism? To what extent do they possess courage, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order to be brave, one cannot fear getting in trouble. Although he struggles with this obstacle and wants to obey his widow guardian, Huck makes a huge decision that shows his overall defeat of this fear: Huck decides to protect Jim, a runaway slave. Huck knows he could get in trouble both by the law and by God. He knows that he has a big decision to make, declaring, ?I?d got to decide, forever, betwixt two things,? and he decides, ?All right, then, I?ll go to hell? (Twain 223). The fear of punishment is an obstacle that Huck overcomes, and on the other side stands courage. The mere fact that Huck is helping a runaway slave is courageous, but specific actions further prove Huck?s bravery. A choice example is when Huck takes the stolen money from the duke and king and returns it to the rightful owners (Twain 188 191). Another instance where the reader sees that spark of courage in Huck?s eyes is when, after boarding a wrecked, abandoned ferryboat and falling upon a few villains, Huck bravely takes matters into his own hands: ?But if we find their boat we can put all of ?em in a bad fix ? for the Sheriff ?ll get ?em. Quick ? hurry! I?ll hunt the labboard side, you hunt the stabboard? (Twain 80). Instead of seeing the ?gang of murderers? and cowardly going on his way, Huck tries to trap them for the Sheriff. Thus, overall, Huck is courageous. Heroism, however, entails more than courage. One must consider Huck?s romanticism, looks,
  • 15. Economic Market Structures Paper There are essentially three economic market structures that create completion barriers within their given market. These structures are corporate monopolies, oligopolies, and conglomerates. Though they all have the similarity of limited competition, they also hold some distinctions as well. Monopolies are market structures that contain one dominating, wealthy corporation. Monopolistic firms use anti competition practices to create hardship for competitors making it nearly impossible to enter or compete in the same market (Friedrichs, 2010, p.86). However, the Sherman Antitrust Act in 1890 made monopolies illegal, so now large corporations have shifted away from monopolizing practices and lean towards oligopolyand conglomerate market structures... Integra Telecom is a small insignificant company that has inferior service compared to Comcast and Centurylink. Centurylink is extremely expensive, and all three have equally horrible customer service. So I opted to purchase internet/cable service from Comcast due to their affordable package options and low promotional discounted rates. For the first five months of my service, I was denied the promotional price I signed up for and was overcharged with additional hidden fees. Each of those five months I had to call, wait on hold for over an hour and sometimes accidentally hung up on, before getting the issue resolved. Not surprisingly, an unfair billing practices class action lawsuit was eventually filed against Comcast for fraudulently misleading their customers with overcharges and hidden fees. The class action lawsuit was later thrown out, but it served as a great example of an oligopoly that is continuously involved in white collar crime with little to no

Acer wants to learn how to shoot a gun, but his father refuses. He doesn t believe guns are the answer. Acer runs into a gunslinger, BLAKE STONE (58), who helps him get back home. The main antagonist, Farrall, is actually underwritten. He s definitely a worthy adversary and the audience finds him to be despicable, but he goes missing from the story after the murder and only comes back at the very end. Thus, he s not a very consistent or relentless foe. The dialogue is solid in that it s authentic to the culture and time. The dialogue reveals information about the characters and their values and motivation. However, the script does seem to rely a bit too much on dialogue, which also hinders the pace. To sustain the tension the story offers various obstacles, but as mentioned, it slows the pace and it s not directly connected with the main goal making the structure feel fragment. One would have rather have watched Blake and Acer track down the men responsible for the family s death, one by one and get their revenge while overcoming obstacles. Thus, in summary, the challenge in creating a compelling western is to find a new hook to a familiar plotline. There might be something new about the characters that help create a more refreshing hook. Try to create original
  • 17. Opposing Views On Life After Death Introduction: Ultimate Questions are questions that cannot be answered or explained scientifically. An example of one is Is There Life After Death , which will be explored. Different religions and cultures believe that different things happen after we die. Humans prepare for the future all their lives, yet meet the next life totally unprepared. This is a quote by the Tibetan Master, Drakpa Gylsten. This quote suggests that humans are rebirthed, and have new lives after death. Buddhists and Christians have a somewhat contrasting view on life after death. Christians believe that humans do not live only one life, but two. Catholics believe in a place called purgatory, where people whom have un confessed sins go temporarily, until clean enough to enter heaven. Buddhists believe in karma and rebirth. Religions have opposing views on the topic of life after death, all which vary greatly. {SLIDE TWO} What happens to your soul after you die? Many people wonder what happens to your soul after you die and there are many possibilities. Buddhists believe that you could enter six different realms, or be rebirthed and Christians believe that depending on your faithfulness to God, after death one either enters into heaven or hell. {NEXT SLIDE} Ecclesiastes 9:5 says For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing; they have no further reward, and even their name is forgotten. This verse is stating that everyone alive knows the inevitable truth that eventually,

Alexander the Great was responsible for developing one of the largest empires the ancient world had ever witnessed. His military campaigns yielded major territorial gains across multiple continents, earning him incredible authority and prestige up to his untimely death. With the Macedonian throne newly vacant, a power vacuum developed as military elites sought to seize control over the empire. Known as the Successors, these individuals worked to build off of the success of Alexander and establish their own dominion over new lands. In their time as monarchs, Alexander and the Successors were responsible for the livelihood of numerous populations, including the Greek world. Alexander and the Successors maintained a strictly political relationship with the Greeksas their monarchs, taking on the responsibilities the kingship demanded. As a political figure, the ability to win loyalty was crucial to the acquisition of royal power. For this reason, it was necessary for Alexander and the Successors to maintain amicable relations with their Greek citizens. Globalization in its current state seems to be a dichotomy of wishing to help poverty on a global scale and wishing to use its existence to get ahead. Nonetheless, the line is too often blurred between the two. Alison Brysk begins her academic book Globalization and Human Rights with her own definition, saying, Globalization is a package of transnational flows of people, production, investment, information, ideas and authority (1). Fueled by the strict laws and regulations regarding labor practices in countries such as those in Europe and America, many businesses in the industrialized world look toward developing countries with the least labor regulations for production purposes. This phenomenon has become known as the race to the bottom in major media. As multinational corporations attempt to get ahead through this process, it has exacerbated global inequity by providing workers in developing countries with the production company s minimum wages and protections. This growing issue caused by particular industries will be given as context before showing the ways global inequity can be combatted on an individual business level and a governmental level. This spread of unethical outsourced production practices has reached an extreme in several industries, two of which are chocolate and textile industries. I did not receive or offer aid to anyone when performing this assignment, nor did I plagiarize any material. Signed: __________________________________________________________ Introduction Having clean water is a very crucial aspect of health. Many people don t have access to clean water, this can be life threatening. There are lethal bacterial infections that are present in water. There are many different diseases that can acquire by drinking contaminated water like: cholera, typhoid fever, and dysentery. The biggest concern and issue is the ingestion of water that is contaminated with fecal matter (1). It has been discovered that the main source of bacteria is this fecal contamination. Fecal matter can enter water sources by runoff from farms or any area that contains many animals. This contamination can also come from insects, rats, or other small animals entering wells or water sources (2). Testing the quality of water, it is often common to test if the water contains coliforms. It is easier to test for coliforms, instead of testing for bacteria that can cause each waterborne disease. Coliforms are gram negative, facultative anaerobic bacteria that do not form endospores. They are also rod shaped and will ferment lactose (slides). When they ferment lactose, this will produce acid and gas. This acid and gas production will allow the total coliform count to be determined.

Introduction to Artificial Intelligence Research Report CS6705 Prioritized Multi Criteria Decision Making and Multi Criteria Aggregation By Rizwan Umaid Ali Student # 3494784 Multi Criteria decision making (MCDM) is an area of Artificial Intelligence which provides capabilities to assess complex decision problems. The decisions can depend on our preferences of some criteria over others. In this report, we analyze formulations of MCDM and Multi Criteria Aggregation. To further understand this, we also see how we calculate prioritized measure of Multi Criteria Aggregation and its Shapley index. Introduction For a modern application, reaching satisfaction can depend upon several criteria. Each criteria in it can be satisfied to reach an optimal result, but in real world scenarios satisfying every criteria is impossible and even not required. For example, if a bill needs to be passed by an executive committee, we will need only half of the committee s approval to pass it. This leads us to think that we can reach satisfaction with any set of members of the committee. In fact, there are several cases where certain criteria have a higher priority than others and satisfaction cannot be reached without them. For instance, if the president of the executive committee has to approve the bill and other members just have to favour it, then the president will dominate the other criteria. To logically state this we can say Satisfy criterion A and if possible satisfy criterion B . We

When someone fell out of their chair, robots would come help them and all the other chairs would be detoured around them. As glued to screens as teens are now, it seems at least a bit likely that humanity could end up like that. they think that they need their devices all the time, so when issues occur, they will probably look for a way around it, like riding in chairs with a screen mounted at just the right level so the neck does not have to be bent. Marriage Is The Fundamental Source Of Happiness Introduction Middlemarch was written in the years leading up to 1832, during the Reform act, and this act was for the benefit of middle class people. Male defense of narrowing of options was the female brain was not equal to the demands of commerce or the professions, and women, simply by virtue of their sex, had no business mingling with men in a man s world (Altick 54). Contrast with men without the added profit of a formal education put conditions in front of many Victorian women to find the only possibility available, marriage as a main occupation. Marriage is one of the important themes in Middlemarch as most of the characters marry for love and yet marriage still appears unpleasant and unromantic. Unlike other novels of that time, marriage is not considered the fundamental source of happiness. An ill advised or not wise marriage between two people who are inherently compatible never becomes completely tuneful. Marriage is one of the major themes in Middlemarch as, according to critic Francis George Steiner, both principle plots are case studies of unsuccessful marriage . These lines give the suggestion that the lives of Dorothea and Lydgate are vacant because of these disastrous marriages . These lines are asserted more to the case for Lydgate than for Dorothea, who gets a second chance through her lastly marriage to Will Ladislaw, her first husband s cousin; however, a consent interpretation of this marriage is dependent upon the character of Ladislaw himself,

Actually, it is more likely that he is a college student. Hundreds of thousands of college students around the country are in a financial predicament because of the government?s impersonal financial aid policies. The federal government?s current system has too many quirks which end up hurting the people that financial aid is supposed to help. The federal government should change its financial aid policies to take several more factors, such as the percentage of educational expenses paid by the student, into account. The federal government does not use this application for aid. The CSS Profile is a service provided by The College Board. It includes many more factors such as the age of the parents, house payments, and car payments. Mostly expensive private universities use the CSS Profile because their students have much more financial need. The current system does a fairly decent job of predicting the amount of aid needed assuming both the parents and the student are paying for the student?s education. The big problem with the system is that not all parents help pay for their child?s education. According to the current system, the student would have to cover the expected contribution from their parents as well as their own expected contribution should their parents decide not to help foot the bill. For example, if a student from a middle class family which is earning $70,000 a year. Assuming the student was earning $3,000, and that student wanted to attend Duke University, approximately $33,000 a year, the family would be expected to pay $13,641 of the bill for each year2. If the parents choose not to help the student pay, then it would be the student?s responsibility to pay every bit of the $13,641. How many students graduating high school can afford that? I think that this factor could quite possibly be the biggest reason that students think they cannot afford college. Another problem is that the current system actually punishes students for saving their

Obesity is one of the major risk factors for gallstones, especially in women. A large clinical study showed that being even moderately overweight increases one s risk for developing gallstones. Secondly, excess estrogen from pregnancy, hormone replacement therapy or birth control pills appears to increase cholesterol levels in bile and decrease gallbladder movement, both of which can lead to gallstones. Ethnicity is another important factor. According to scientists, Native Americans have a genetic predisposition to secrete high levels of cholesterol in bile. In fact, they have the highest rates of gallstones in the United States. A majority of Native American men have gallstones by age 60. Among the Pima Indians of Arizona, 70 percent of women have gallstones by age 30. Mexican Americans men and women of all ages also have high rates of gallstones. The fourth factor is Cholesterol lowering drugs. Drugs that lower cholesterol levels in blood actually increase the amount of cholesterol secreted in bile. This in turn can increase the risk of gallstones.

Approximately 0.5 to 5.0 billion tons of dust travels in the atmosphere each year throughout the globe or within a particular region (Perkins, 2001). Dust is transported from Africa, other countries with large deserts and contains diverse microbial communities (bacteria and fungi) often containing pathogens. Data presented within the current and past century has shown that microbes are capable of withstanding environments exposing them to desiccation, UV, and other physical stresses, making them a good candidate for airborne global travel. Knowledge of these various microbes is increasing due to concerns over human health and oceanic diseases... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most dust circulates to the Caribbean, North and Central America during June through October (Graham, 1979). Climate change has greatly affected dust transport partially because of decreased rainfall. Anthropogenic influence creates aerosols in the atmosphere and are derived from three primary sources: biomass burning, desert dust and pollution due to anthropogenic effects. Increasing agricultural land use (over grazing and over farming) are just a few of the contributing problems. The dust created by increasing desertification provides issues for human and marine health. Generally, ill health is correlated to higher dust storm rates, bacteria and fungi can be carried across seas for international infection, and dust storms can damage Florida flora by blocking sunlight preventing photosynthesis. Currently, there is still much information to be studied on African dust and how it affects various organisms. It is widely accepted that studies of African dust confirm human impact on the environment must decrease and we must find more efficient ways of agricultural development otherwise problems will continue to arise in many forms. Coral reef decline has thought to be linked with the rise of African dust, due to the demise of reef health since 1970. Since 1974, 29 major marine outbreaks have been recorded and of the 29, 20 of them were located in the Atlantic basin and nearby areas (Sherman et al., 1992). 8 of the 29

  • 46. The Conflict Theory Of Social Groups Intergroup Competition is the idea that social groups will extend from the desire for a group to gain the scarce resources that exist (36 40). This idea is greatly supported by the segment on affirmative action in the video (36 40). As said in the movie, the idea is that scholarship money and grant money is a scarce resource when students decide to go to college (37 40). In this view, the individuals who are against affirmative actionare competing for that scarce resource (36 40). By using techniques like affirmative action and racial and/or ethnic based scholarships present the subordinate group s strive for power, and the arguments against these resources are the dominant group s attempt to maintain their power (36 40). Moreover, the strive to gain these programs is not just for their own individual self interest, but is for the interest of their social group as a whole to maintain the group s desires (36 40). It is in this belief that s the Realistic Conflict Theory resides (36 40). In this, their exists the view that this conflict for scarce resources subsequently produces prejudice, in which a privileged group has a sense of group position and strives to protect it (36 40). This is shown in the video by the idea of reverse racism, in which the dominant group tries to grain pity for their loss of domination by saying that affirmative action gives African Americans an unfair advantage, thus racially profiling the subordinate group while trying to maintain their

You see, the Eucharist is not just something you receive on Sunday, and forget about; it is more than that. We are called to perform services in the world and in our communities because of the Eucharist. This paper is about what we are called to do after we receive the Eucharist, and what we as Catholics should be doing already. The Eucharist enables us to come together as a Church every Sunday, and sometimes more often than that. It also unites us with the angels in heaven and the deceased, which enables all of God s people to participate in the celebration of Jesuss sacrifice. As Catholics, we never really worship alone. At the Eucharistic Liturgy, we gather with the young and old, the rich and poor, as well as millions around the world and the saints in heaven, to celebrate Christ s sacrifice (Body of Christ, Broken for the World).... The Eucharist educates us to this love in a deeper way; it shows us, in fact, what value each person, our brother or sister, has in God s eyes, if Christ offers Himself equally to each one, under the species of bread and wine. If our Eucharistic worship is authentic, it must make us grow in awareness of the dignity of each person. The awareness of that dignity becomes the deepest motive of our relationship with our neighbor (Dominicae Cenae,

This is shown through Morrie s acceptance with death because when he suffers with severe coughing, one cough can be his last. Morrie constantly tells Mitch to ignore society s influence, fancy, and standards because people just suffer from it because Mitch focuses on his busy work life and materialism. However, Morrie was able to enlighten Mitch by having him open his eyes to the true fulfillments one must have in life, which is love. Thomas Cranmer s Presence In The Eucharist It has been widely contended that Thomas Cranmer s thoughts on the presence of Christ in the Eucharist had wavered throughout his time as a theologian, and that his writings are somewhat ambiguous when it comes to addressing this important theological topic. Many academics agree that Cranmer is not overly notable for his clarity in writing and concede that this ambiguity, especially on writings of the presence in the Eucharist, is due to the long and uneven evolution of his understanding of the presence. In the letter, Cranmer admitted that he found the anti transubstantiation writings of Adam Damplip to be quite compelling. This was quite a position for Cranmer to take, considering he was at one time so fervent in his position on transubstantiation that he was responsible for eleven of the executions of people who refuted the belief in the real blood and body presence of Christ in the Eucharist. In Cranmer s True and Catholick Doctrine of the Sacrament Cranmer describes a spiritual presence of Christ in the Eucharist. This moved away from the Zwinglian theory of memorialism (which Cranmer did explore briefly) and was more cohesive with the Calvinist view. He says that those who worthily eat and drink of the bread and wine receive his spirit within the sacrament. He determined that there was a two fold presence of Jesus Christ within the Eucharist and described the figurative presence that occurs when the consecrator repeats the words of Christ at the last supper to remind us of Christ s sacrifice and that the spiritual presence exists for those who worthily eat and drink. In the prayer book of 1549 we are permitted a glimpse of the real presence and spiritual presence debate that was

By disregarding the chronological order of development of Miss Emily s life, at first Faulkner gives the reader a finished complexity, and then allows the reader to examine this puzzle step by step, piece by piece. By doing this, he enhances the plot and portrays two different angles of timeheld by the characters. The first perspective, the world as the present, shows time as a progression and the past is a shrinking road. The second perspective, the world of tradition and the past, views the past as a huge meadow which no winter ever quite touches, divided from them now by the narrow bottleneck of the most recent decade of years. (5) The first perspective is based on Homer and the modern generation. The second is based on confederate soldiers and the older members of the Board of Aldermen. Emily holds the second view too, however for her there is no bottleneck separating her from the meadow of the past. Faulkner starts off the story with Miss Emily s funeral, where the men see her as a fallen monument (1) and the women are curious about the inside of her house. He draws a picture of a woman who is fragile because she has fallen, but still symbolic and important like a monument. The particulars of Miss Emily s house are very similar to her and symbolize what she stands for. It is set on what had once been the most select street. (1) The narrator, which is the
