Strategic Intent
Harvard Business Review Jb revitalize corporate performance, we need a whole new model of
strategy. May funel989 STRATEGIC INTENT by Gary Hamel and C.K. Prahalad oday managers in
many industries are working hard to match the competitive advantages of their new global rivals. They
are moving manufacturing offshore in search of lower labor costs, rationalizing product lines to
capture global scale economies, instituting quality circles and justin time production, and adopting
Japanese human resource practices. When competitiveness still seems out of reach, they form strategic
alliances often with the very companies that upset the competitive halance in the first place. Important

Think back. In 1970, few Japanese companies possessed the resource base, manufacturing volume, or

Electrical Systems For Homes And Organizations
Where there is a Light there is a way In today s society when we think of an electrician we think of a
cable guy. People don t look into the depth of things, electricians are very essential to our lives. Your
life would feel incomplete without lights, radios, television, or not being able to drive a car. An
electrician is a licensed technician that maintains the wiring in you school, homes, car or any place
that functions off of electricity. Preservation of electric systems for homes and organizations is a key
role of an electrician. Without running electricity a lot of the things that we rely on won t be available.

To become an electrician you have to have a high school diploma or an equivalent. Some electricians
enter this trade in multiple ways. High school subjects like chemistry, physics, geometry, algebra, pre
calculus, computer science, English and if provided applied technology could be very useful in this
field. You are required to be 18 years of age before you join the program. Training is a very important
part of becoming an electrician. You will learn your trade within 4 to 5 years. During this process
yearly you will have to have 144 hours of technical training and 2,000 hours of on the job training. All
of your curriculum will be guided by the National Electric Code and OSHA safety requirements.
When you do your classroom parts you will be taught things such as mathematics, blueprint reading,
safety and first aid practices, electrical theory, and electrical code. If you are reaching for a higher
level such as a manager or supervisor then an Associate s degree will be more suitable for you. In
order to complete your Associate s degree general education in humanities and science are required. A

The Energy Source Of Energy
In an era where fossil fuels are the dominant source of energy, environmentalists and scientists are
looking for alternative energy sources in the fear that fossil fuels will sooner or later become
consumed by our energy needs. In the hunt to find a strong alternative energy source, scientists have
reverted back to an old formula E=MC2. The indicated formula was first thought up by Albert
Einstein to describe a part of general relativity in the paper Does the Inertia of a Body Depend Upon
Its Energy Content? Furthermore, in his publication Albert Einstein explains that mass and kinetic
energy are proportionally equal. Meaning you can transfer energy into mass and vice versa. In
addition if you are able to transfer mass into energy that mass will be multiplied by the speed of light
(C) squared, meaning that a little mass can turn into a lot of energy. Moreover, Einstein s reasoning for
using the speed of light is because atoms when separated travel the speed of light thus carrying a lot of
energy. At the time Einstein was working on trying to find ways to separate and or fuse atoms in order
to gain energy and put his formula to use. However, today we have found two different ways of doing
so in what we call nuclear fusion and nuclear fission.
Nuclear fusion has been around since the big bang, as it is the process that powers stars just like ours
and is how our universe continues to grow. Moreover, nuclear fusion occurs when two or more atoms
fuse together at very high

The Errors Of Second Language Learners
Many researchers in the field of error analysis have stressed the significance of errors of second
language learners. Corder (1967), for example, in his important article, notes that they are significant
in three different ways. First, to the teacher, in that they show how far towards the goal the learner has
progressed. Second, they provide to the researcher evidence of how a language is acquired, what
strategies the learner is employing in his learning of a language. Thirdly, they are indisputable to the
learner himself because we can regard the making of errors as a device the learner uses in order to
learn (p. 161).One of the most difficult challenges handled by non native speakers of English is
understanding the system of English articles. This study aims at providing a comprehensive account of
the types of errors produced by Persian speaking learners of English in their use of articles. Data were
collected from 120 sentences produces by Persian speaking learners of English which written in error
analysis and interlanguage analysis book by M. Bemani Naeini (1387). Analysis of errors in students
written samples revealed that while students made a considerable number of errors in their use of
articles, omission errors were the most frequent, while substitutions were the least frequent.
Additionally, among all types of omission errors identified, the omission of the indefinite article the
was the most frequent. In sharp contrast, the use of the indefinite article a

Social Network Structures And Its Impact On The Formation...
Organization structure defined by leadership has a considerable impact on the formation of social
networks. From psychological research during the 1940s and 1950s, it became evident that individuals
gather into groups as a result of interaction opportunities, most commonly defined by places where
people meet (Burt, Kilduff, and Tasselli, 2013). While it has been established that different social
network structures can prove to be advantageous in differing scenarios, it is often believed that a
greater number of connections in the workplace is beneficial, as meaningful relationships can lead to a
sense of belonging and pride in an organization. Consequently, in many scenarios, facilitating
interaction opportunities can be a common goal of management; providing employees the opportunity
to get to know and learn from one another, whether through onboarding or continuous employee
development, promotes the forming of groups and increase of density in a social network. As groups
form, a new identity may be created, often characterized by signs of symbolic convergence. These
signs might take on the form of inside jokes, symbols, behaviors, or similar views and begin to define
what it means to be in the group. At the same time as a group forms, an in group and out group
frequently begin to develop those who belong to the group in question and those who do not. The
membership discrepancy among in groups and out groups can turn problematic if taken too far.

Example Of Harkness Discussion
Harkness Thoughts? Overall, I felt that we could have done much better in our Harkness discussion.
One main problem I felt with this type of discussion is that there are so many people. In the socratic,
having small groups allows everyone to be able to contribute and be involved in the discussion.
Having 10 15 people and just one really broad question doesn t cut it. I feel like there could have been
either smaller groups or multiple questions within one group. Like 10 minutes with 1 question and
another ten minutes with the corresponding question.I saw that a lot of people felt frustration because
their points were being said by multiple other people, leaving them with nothing to
contribute. Therefore, a few people could be assigned one text

sports. It made women sports strictly intramural games, or sports that are played within the college
and between its students . The National Association of Secondary School Principals, as well as many
educators, fully supported the resolution and so they put pressure on high school sports association to
end their tournaments. Educators wanted women to only play sports at their own college, between one
another. Most educators saw women playing intercollegiate sports as unladylike and sometimes
unsafe. Halfway into the 1930s women competitive sports had mostly disappeared in many states. The
issue regarding whether or not women should be allowed to play sports would not be settled until Title
IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972 was put into law. Title IX stated that no person in the
United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or
be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial
assistance. It would open the door for new possibilities for women such as Margaret Wade, whose

The Realist Theory Of International Relations
When Arab spring started to influence various countries in Middle East and North Africa with domino
effect in 2010, Libya was one of these countries. There were uprisings in the regions because of the
bad economic conditions, lack of the democracy, human rights, and people s demand for democracy of
the cruel dictators. The demands or discomforts were same in Libya, but process of the Muammar al
Gaddafi s regime s end was different from others as it was intervened by coalition states and NATO.
Libya s intervene was carried out by the 1973 numbered resolution of United Nations Security
Council in March, 2011. The reasons of the intervention were expanding democracy in the region,
ending Gaddafi s violence through civilians and changing the regime. However, unlike other
interventions in international area, it was quick and sudden. Therefore it was obvious that other than
providing good life conditions to Libyan people, there were also other purposes of the coalition states
through Libya s rich resources.
Realism theory
On the realist theory of International Relations, the basic assumption of this theory is that states in
their foreign affairs, must pursue power, and ensure that they act rationally with the most appropriate
step that will be taken to perpetuate the life of the state in a hostile and threatening environment. A key
principle of realist theory is that of survival and it could be argued that in the domestic politics
governments create and enforce laws to

seconds time, I drop the photograph to the sand at my feet, walking away. It s already lying there,
twelve seconds into the future. Readers are subjected to the ways in which Dr. Manhattan sees and
experiences time, which is seeing the past, the present, and the future each at the same time. In panel
eight, Dr. Manhattan states, I am going to look at the stars . The stars are meant to represent the
photograph he has been focused on this entire page. To expand, readers are regarding the photograph
similarly to the way they do the stars, for the light from stars takes ages to travel through the universe
and have the ability to be seen from earth. When we are looking at stars, many of them are already
dead in their current state in space, and it is therefore like looking into the past, similar to looking at
Dr. Manhattan s photograph. Both stars and the people in the photograph are no longer living, they are
simply an aspect frozen in time conveying what once was.

Neighborhood Observation
I think the thing that I learned the most about Baltimore communities and schools during this
excursion was that the quality of the neighborhoods changes so rapidly from street to street. I have
never experienced such a quick and powerful juxtaposition between different socioeconomical areas in
my life. In Little Rock, where I am from, the shift in areas is much more gradual and areas are
grouped in larger clusters. In Baltimore, I have noticed that isn t true. Neighborhoods rapidly shift
from block to block The transition from Canton to Madison happened so quickly that I thought I had
missed something originally. This is so interesting to me and I would love to learn more about why
this is the way that it is. I am very ignorant of large cities in general, but in my experience I have
gotten the feeling that this phenomenon is not as produced. I also noticed in Madison the beginning of
gentrification and increased socioeconomic development. It was clear from the number of recently

Reflection Paper On Photography
As a photography major, it was never clear to me on why I had to take a drawing class. I dreaded each
class because of the known fact that I didn t possess the skills to be a good drawer. When speaking to
friends and family, I would always complain to them saying, I m going to fail this class. I have no idea
why I have to take these drawing classes. As the quarter went on and the more I learned about the
different drawing techniques such as the use of lighting to create interesting shadows or the use of
color to create a sense mood and emotion, I began to realize the parallels that drawing and
photography have.
It s very important to train your eyes as a photographer because you gain new perspective of your
surroundings and you begin to pay more attention to little details. Drawing has helped train my eye to
pay attention to details such as lines, shadows, light, proportion, texture, and color. When working on
each drawing project such as the still lifes, portraits, and landscapes, I would notice my eye rapidly
going back and forth from the subject to the paper trying to focus on all the details, whether it be the
reflection of light on a cup or vase, the shadows on the busts, or the vibrant colors in the landscape
drawing. I would do my best to try and accurately transfer what was in front of me onto the paper. In
order to get the best shot in photography, photographers have to pay attention to these details to make
their photos more interesting to look at. Without

The Importance Of The Police And Criminal Evidence Act 1984
Safety is a fundamental right that we all deserve. Most of us rely on the government to provide this
security. We pay for this through taxes, but the question that we must ask ourselves is are we getting
what we are paying for? By paying our taxes to the government we are giving it the authority to
choose the service we are getting back. The Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 (PACE) is an Act
of Parliament which instituted a legislative framework for the powers of police officers in England
and Wales to combat crime, as well as providing codes of practice for the exercise of those powers.
PACE sets out to strike the right balance between the powers of the police and the rights and freedoms
of the public. Maintaining that balance is a central element of PACE. These powers have been given to
the police to insure our safety however how much power the police really hold is limited by the
PACE, the police must carry out their duty without breaching the rights of individuals. the question of
whether or not these rights should be abolished is a debatable one.
The police stop and search power first came about in 1984 the aim of this act was to protect the rights
of the public from the misconduct of police officers. some may argue that they are still not protected
by this act.Scottish ministers are under renewed pressure to abolish controversial police stop and
search powers, after United Nations human rights experts said they were potentially breaching
international law.

Economic Inequality In The Hunger Games
How does one put together a democracy based on the concept of equality while running an economy
with ever greater degrees of economic inequality? is a question raised by the American economist
Lester Thurow. Economic inequality and disparities in the standard of living between the upper and
lower class are present in modern day America. However, in Suzanne Collins novel The Hunger
Games, in the setting of Panem, the upper and lower classes live lives that have been rendered
completely unrecognizable from each other. For members of the lower class, every area of life is more
difficult, which shows similarities to modern America s social class system. The dichotomy between
upper and lower classes is showcased in the treatment of children, the conditions that people live and
work in, and the hunger that several families face.

Social Risk Factors 1. Single family household varies to home to home due to the fact of different type

Good People David Foster Wallace Summary
The Ambiance of Human Decency
How does the setting of Good People by David Foster Wallace contribute to the representation of what
it means to be a good person? The short story includes a myriad of techniques that contribute to the
theme of the text. Wallace explores the concept of human decency and relates the subject to how
certain actions and beliefs affect the value of a person in the story. As the religious characters face the
decision of whether to abort an unborn child, protagonist Lane Dean Jr. seeks an approach that would
make him what he believes to be a good person. Although the story s narration explicitly contributes
to the story s meaning, looking at the tone and symbolism of the static setting makes visible the way
the story communicates its message of what it means to be a good person. The environment of the
peaceful and innocent setting, symbolic meaning behind carefully described objects, and consistency
in the location all serve as examples that contribute to the demonstration of the characters in their
attempt to encounter righteousness. These factors of setting enhance thematic patterns and
implications by using descriptive details of imagery to help the reader closely understand specific
emotions and implied meanings that are crucial to the the story s exploration of human decency.
When introducing and laying the foundation of a story, the setting described has the ability to engage
the reader and paint a picture of the tone

The Role Of Sex Offenders In Prisons
Granted, one thing that could be done to prevent so many sex crimes from happening is to rehabilitate
the offender while incarcerated. However, the rehabilitation of sex offenders does, cost a lot of money
to get the right programs. The Department of Corrections asked for 1.2 million dollars. This money
was then deposited towards treatment programs for sex offenders in prison. Many prisons put rehab
and therapy up as an option for the offender even if some prisoners don t want to accept it or get

themselves have to believe that they have troubles and they are unsafe; instead of placing sex

Librarians and their Subtle Protection of Children from the Internet
Freedom of speech and access to information within our public libraries is protected by the bill of
rights of many national and international human rights organizations. These freedoms are specifically
protected within our First Amendment rights in the United States Constitution and by the American
Library Association s Bill of Rights. It is written by both that all citizens should have the freedom to
write, publish, and read what they wish, without fear of a government or other person persecuting or
restricting them. However, the Children s Internet Protection Act of 2000 made it American law that
public libraries must use Internet filtration software to censor access to information deemed
inappropriate for children. These regulations are meant to protect the innocent American youth from
content considered profane, sexual, or violent; however, what has proven more dangerous than what
children discover on the internet at their library is the misapplication of the law by the libraries
themselves. Due to differing cultural contexts, political and economic climates, and contents of
constitutionally protected information, different communities throughout the United States have
different levels of freedom to information. While the government of the United States has the final say
on what information can be accessed in federally funded public libraries in America, several libraries

Secondary Infections Of Flu Essay
What are the Secondary Infections of the Flu?
As most people know, the flu is a highly contagious disease that hits hard, invading the upper
respiratory tract, and in many cases, spreading to the lungs. The flu generally lasts a week, or more,
and during that time you might experience high fevers, headaches, body aches, sore throat, cough,
stuffy or runny nose, and tiredness. What most people don t know is that while their body is fighting
off a flu virus, it becomes highly vulnerable to developing secondary bacteria caused infections. When
your body is combating a viral infection, chemicals are released that may interfere with bacteria
killing cells. Along with that, the respiratory tract lining has been disrupted, and the mucus

When the lining of the air passageways between the nose and the lungs becomes infected, or swollen,
it reduces breathing ability, and increases the production of phlegm in the airways. After a flu, it is not
uncommon for a person to develop acute bronchitis, a condition with a pronounced cough that lasts for
weeks, or sometimes months. Other symptoms of secondary bacterial bronchitis, include:
Low grade fever
Sore throat
Wheezing
Body aches
Head aches
Nose and sinus congestion
Bacterial Otitis
Bacterial otitis, or ear infection, often follows the flu, particularly in children. Bacterial otitis
originates in the middle ear, which is connected to the upper respiratory tract by the Eustachian tube.
Bacteria that is multiplying in the nose or sinuses can pass up the Eustachian tube to the middle ear
and continue growing. Should the Eustachian tube become blocked, the middle ear area becomes
stagnant and warm, the ideal breeding ground for bacteria to grow.
Bacterial infections are accompanied by a variety of symptoms, such as ear pain, lingering cough,
thick nasal discharge, or sinus pain. If your flu recovery has been complicated by additional

Essay on John D. Rockefeller
Jessica M. Hintermeister
American History
Louisa Garry
Due: Thursday, March 15, 2001 The Rockefellers feared the temptations of wealth, yet a visitor once
described their estate as the kind of place God would have built if only he d had the money. They
amassed a fortune that outraged a Democratic nation, then gave it all away reshaping America. They
were the closest thing the country had to a royal family, but the Rockefellers shunned the public eye.
For decades, the Rockefeller name was despised in America, associated with John D. Rockefeller Sr. s
feared monopoly, Standard Oil. By the end of his life, Rockefeller had given away half of his fortune.

Oil was being used to grease the wheels of America s infant industries, to fuel the expansion of
growth. Rockefeller lamented that so many wells were flowing that the price of oil kept falling yet
everyone went right on drilling. He saw an industry plagued from overproduction and his own success
was being threatened by ruinness cut throat competition. John D. was shrewd enough and he was
analytical enough that he realized that in order to figure out a way to save his own firm and his own
newly won fortune, that he had to figure out a solution for the entire industry. It was at that point that
John D. began to conceive of the oil industry as one big interrelated mechanism. And you couldn t just
change one component, you had to control the entire machine.
In a move that would transform the American economy, Rockefeller set out to replace a world of
independent oilmen with a giant company controlled by him. In l870, begging bankers for more loans,
he formed Standard Oil of Ohio. The next year, he quietly put what he called our plan his campaign to
dominate the volatile oil industry into devastating effect. Rockefeller knew that the refiner with the
lowest transportation cost could bring rivals to their knees. He entered into a secret alliance with the
railroads called the South Improvement Company. In exchange for large, regular shipments,

The House Of Mirth And The Awakening Essay
While feminist ideologies in both The House of Mirth and The Awakening are quite controversial and
maybe to some nonexistent, it is quite evident that there are these two women who want to fight
against their societal norms and patriarchal society. Lily Bart from House of Mirth tries to manipulate
societal norms in order to achieve success, and Edna Pontellier from The Awakening actively tries to
become and independent woman. In the end, I think they both succeed in becoming independent
women and ideal feminists because of how they fight against their societies. Even though both Edna
and Lily are suppressed by their society, they not only use their knowledge of society to fight against
it, but they prove in the end of both novels that they are truly independent women and can be just as
free willed as the men. Both Edna Pontellier and Lily Bart understand what society expects of them,
and they use that knowledge later to manipulate conventional societal norms to try to become
individuals. Albeit, it does not end ideally for them, but throughout both The Awakening and The
House of Mirth Edna and Lily fight the suppressive nature of their societies. Edna is different from
Lily in this sense, however, because Edna eventually actively rejects the ideal mother woman. When
the novel first begins, we get a glimpse of what Edna was like when she was younger, which continues
during her marriage to Mr. Pontellier. Knowing what she was like earlier on in her life shows how she

The Importance Of Condoms
Sexual intercourse has various meanings to different people. It is typically a fun activity that people

nitrile, or polyisoprene) or lambskin, that cover your penis during sex and collect semen are a thin
covering, worn on the penis during sex to prevent pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases
(PlannedParenthood 2017) . Many schools have distributed condoms to promote safe sex in teens.
About 431 public high schools in the United States distribute condoms. Although this seems like a
great idea, condoms should not be distributed in high schools because many teens are misinformed of
the procedures of using condoms, condoms are being used less by teens, and it could affect the social,
emotional and lifestyle of teenagers.
Condoms should not be distributed in high schools because teens are not well informed about the
usage and proper procedures of using a condom. Many people have been misinformed that condoms
prevent pregnancy one hundred percent of the time. However, that is not quite true. Condoms are not
100 percent effective, they usually tend break during sexual intercourse causing a higher risk of your
partner becoming pregnant. Teens are not well informed about this fact and are often surprised to find

Taking a Look at Muscle Cramps
Muscle Cramps Muscle cramps are painful, involuntary muscle spasms that occur when muscles

considered very common among people; however, their actual cause is still not well understood. There
are different types of muscle cramps including true, contractures, tatany, and dystonic cramps. There
are not a lot of symptoms for muscle cramps, but the ones that do exist are obvious. Cramps will
usually go away on their own without medical assistance, but there are a few cases where they should
get checked out by a doctor. Muscle cramps are painful, but the worst thing is that they can t be
stopped from happening. The causes for this muscle disorder are not completely understood, but there
are several theories. According to the Mayo Clinic Staff, muscle cramps are caused by overuse of
muscle, dehydration, muscle strain, or simply holding a position for a long period of time. In their
article, Muscle Cramps, they also stated that cramps may be related to underlying medical condition
such as inadequate blood supply, nerve compression, and mineral depletion (Mayo Clinic Staff, 2013).
Getting inadequate blood supply affects the arteries that deliver blood to the legs producing cramps in
the legs and feet while exercising. Another article called, Muscle Cramps Symptom Evaluation also

little pieces of information like temperature sensors or open/close sensor are extremely valuable
information as it provides insights into defense that might happen in their business processes. There

With wireless sensor network, the applications are cost effective and people can use it. The main
disadvantage of the wireless sensor network is that it have the limited energy and computational
power so it is impossible to make traditional security methodologies to use. Many of the researchers
(A.Perrig, et.al 2001) and (Karlof. C., et.al, 2004) have given attention on this problem in there
research paper. There are some devices which work with sensor network which use Check, Track and
Trace , this type of functionality is used by most of the companies for example check determines the
wind monitoring ability to sense what is going around the environment. Track determines locating an
object at its place as an example in the hospital or in the warehouse, we can determine the location of
physical assets and then tracing that with the help of sensors. The large application in the Wireless
sensor networks make it hard to discuss security without any specific context. In wireless sensor
networks, the security is the main problem.
Critical Analysis and Details
There are different levels for different level application in structure and scale which are important for
developing the sensor network. Location sensor nodes play an important role in the real world
application such as environment monitoring and tracking and geographical routing. Location

Economic development is a broader term than economic growth Economic growth usually means the

Let us take the example of a child. As a child grows her weight and height increases. Simultaneously,
her capacity to leam, recognize and distinguish between objects develops. Thus growth is not

Similarly, in the case of the Indian economy economic growth is not enough; we need economic

Classifying Sports Fans Research Paper
According to the world s largest search engine, Google, seventy two percent of 18 to 29 year olds,
64% of 30 to 49 year olds, and 58% of those aged 50 and older in the United States admit to being
sports fans. Out of these millions of fans, most of them fall into certain categories. There are typically
three ways to classify sports fans: the fans that think they are the coach, the dedicated fans, and the
bandwagon fans. The first type of sports fan typically found is the fan that thinks they are the coach.

These fans usually change the team they root for one or two times a years, usually around the time the
national championship, world series, superbowl, or NBA finals are played. These fans just like to
follow the crowd. Any new team that is winning this fan will claim they are a fan of them. However,
when that team starts to lose or another team comes up and starts winning they are suddenly a fan of
the new team. One good example is the Golden State Warriors. Three years ago, before they had
arguably the best point guard in the NBA, there was not hardly any outspoken Golden State fans. Yet
now that they are the defending NBA champions and have two time MVP winning point guard, they
have fans everywhere. Not to say all of them, but many of Golden States fans are just rooting for the
team because of how good they are now.
It is hard to argue that the majority of sports sports fans do not fall into the category of either the fans
that think they are the coach, the dedicated fans, or the bandwagon fans. Although every person is
different, and every sports fan is different, it is not difficult to identify that they can be grouped very
similarly into one of these categories. With a few exceptions, it is safe to say that most fans would be
easy to place into one of these three

Why Did Rene Descartes Do Not Exist
Rene Descartes was a French mathematician, whose reasoning concurs with Plato and other early
theologians about the significance of reasoning. However, Descartes differed with his predecessors
about mode of establishing ideas. According to Descartes the predecessors established ideas basing on
what he considered to be somewhat uncertain and had shaky foundation (Mitchell, 2015). Thus, for
him, he started the unique project by putting in consideration that everything he thinks he knows
comes as a result of due time sense experience. Therefore, Descartes in this projects assumes that not
everything we thinks is right is always correct, some time we deceives ourselves. For instance, he uses

In current and practical world, people should not assume that their beliefs are always right. Every
human being must follow Descartes steps to ensure that all beliefs are certain to avoid wrong beliefs
that may mislead someone. Similarly, on understanding human body and mind basing on empiricism, I
will apply David Hume s technique. The main reason why I will use Hume s theory is that it simplifies
everything. For instance, human inquiry is divided into two main categories; matters of fact and
relations of idea. The two concepts are vital in solving the mind body

Capital Punishment Must be Abolished Essay
Capital Punishment Must be Abolished
Is capital punishment just? The death penalty is a controversial issue for most people.
Supporter s claim that it eliminates repeat offenders, deters potential murderers and is the ultimate
retribution. Opponents denounce it as murder, say that it does not cause deterrence but rather promotes
violence and claim that it introduces the chance of an innocent person being executed. Due to the
arguments presented by both sides and because of my own personal beliefs, the argument against legal
execution is most compelling. The idea of putting another human to death is hard to completely
fathom. The physical mechanics involved in carrying out a death sentence on another person,

The next method of execution developed after the electric chair was the gas chamber. The gas
chamber was first used in 1921. This chamber of death is an airtight room with a chair into which the
accused is strapped. Death is caused by exposure to cyanide gas, produced when sodium cyanide is
dropped into sulfuric acid. The suffering caused is deliberate and plain to see: writhing, vomiting,
shaking and gasping for breath for many seconds. This horrendous technique is used only in a few
states.
Another form of the death penalty is lethal injection. This form was introduced in the U.S. in 1977 and
is now in use in twenty three states. This is the most widespread method and arguably the most
humane. The condemned is strapped to a table and injected with sodium triopentone, losing
consciousness in ten to fifteen seconds. This is followed by pancuronium bromide, which blocks
respiration and finally potassium chloride to stop the heart (Jackson, 38 43).
Finally, the last two forms of execution are death by firing squad and death by hanging.
These two forms of capital punishment are very rarely ever used. In 1999 there were only two
hangings and one death by firing squad. The convicted sometimes have the opportunity to decide how
they wish to be executed, which was the case in these three executions.
Religious people, especially those faithful to the Catholic religion believe that the death penalty is
morally wrong. The Catholic Church believes that

Prahalad oday managers in many industries are working hard to match the competitive advantages of their new global rivals. They are moving manufacturing offshore in search of lower labor costs, rationalizing product lines to capture global scale economies, instituting quality circles and justin time production, and adopting Japanese human resource practices. When competitiveness still seems out of reach, they form strategic alliances often with the very companies that upset the competitive halance in the first place. Important as these initiatives are, few of them go beyond ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Think back. In 1970, few Japanese companies possessed the resource base, manufacturing volume, or technical prowess of U.S. and European industry leaders. Komatsu was less than 35% as large as Caterpillar (measured by sales), was scarcely represented outside Japan, and relied on just one product linesmall bulldozers for most of its revenue. Honda was smaller than American Motors and had not yet begun to export cars to tbe United States. Canon s first Tbe lesson is clear: assessing the current tactical advantages of known competitors will not help you understand the resolution, stamina, and inventiveness of potential competitors. Sun tzu, a Chinese military strategist, made the point 3,000 years ago: All men can see the tactics whereby I conquer, he wrote, but what none can see is the strategy out of which great victory is evolved. y Sy ompanies that have risen to global leader( ship over the past 20 years invariably began Y with ambitions that were out of all proporV . ^ . . ^ tion to their resources and capabilities. But they created an obsession with wirming at all levels of the organization and then sustained that obsession over the 10 to 20 year quest for global leadership. • 4. The Energy Source Of Energy In an era where fossil fuels are the dominant source of energy, environmentalists and scientists are looking for alternative energy sources in the fear that fossil fuels will sooner or later become consumed by our energy needs. In the hunt to find a strong alternative energy source, scientists have reverted back to an old formula E=MC2. The indicated formula was first thought up by Albert Einstein to describe a part of general relativity in the paper Does the Inertia of a Body Depend Upon Its Energy Content? Furthermore, in his publication Albert Einstein explains that mass and kinetic energy are proportionally equal. Meaning you can transfer energy into mass and vice versa. In addition if you are able to transfer mass into energy that mass will be multiplied by the speed of light (C) squared, meaning that a little mass can turn into a lot of energy. Moreover, Einstein s reasoning for using the speed of light is because atoms when separated travel the speed of light thus carrying a lot of energy. At the time Einstein was working on trying to find ways to separate and or fuse atoms in order to gain energy and put his formula to use. However, today we have found two different ways of doing so in what we call nuclear fusion and nuclear fission. Nuclear fusion has been around since the big bang, as it is the process that powers stars just like ours and is how our universe continues to grow. Moreover, nuclear fusion occurs when two or more atoms fuse together at very high ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Corder (1967), for example, in his important article, notes that they are significant in three different ways. First, to the teacher, in that they show how far towards the goal the learner has progressed. Second, they provide to the researcher evidence of how a language is acquired, what strategies the learner is employing in his learning of a language. Thirdly, they are indisputable to the learner himself because we can regard the making of errors as a device the learner uses in order to learn (p. 161).One of the most difficult challenges handled by non native speakers of English is understanding the system of English articles. This study aims at providing a comprehensive account of the types of errors produced by Persian speaking learners of English in their use of articles. Data were collected from 120 sentences produces by Persian speaking learners of English which written in error analysis and interlanguage analysis book by M. Bemani Naeini (1387). Analysis of errors in students written samples revealed that while students made a considerable number of errors in their use of articles, omission errors were the most frequent, while substitutions were the least frequent. From psychological research during the 1940s and 1950s, it became evident that individuals gather into groups as a result of interaction opportunities, most commonly defined by places where people meet (Burt, Kilduff, and Tasselli, 2013). While it has been established that different social network structures can prove to be advantageous in differing scenarios, it is often believed that a greater number of connections in the workplace is beneficial, as meaningful relationships can lead to a sense of belonging and pride in an organization. Consequently, in many scenarios, facilitating interaction opportunities can be a common goal of management; providing employees the opportunity to get to know and learn from one another, whether through onboarding or continuous employee development, promotes the forming of groups and increase of density in a social network. As groups form, a new identity may be created, often characterized by signs of symbolic convergence. These signs might take on the form of inside jokes, symbols, behaviors, or similar views and begin to define what it means to be in the group. At the same time as a group forms, an in group and out group frequently begin to develop those who belong to the group in question and those who do not. The membership discrepancy among in groups and out groups can turn problematic if taken too far. Although there is some ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One main problem I felt with this type of discussion is that there are so many people. In the socratic, having small groups allows everyone to be able to contribute and be involved in the discussion. Having 10 15 people and just one really broad question doesn t cut it. I feel like there could have been either smaller groups or multiple questions within one group. The National Association of Secondary School Principals, as well as many educators, fully supported the resolution and so they put pressure on high school sports association to end their tournaments. Educators wanted women to only play sports at their own college, between one another. Most educators saw women playing intercollegiate sports as unladylike and sometimes unsafe. Halfway into the 1930s women competitive sports had mostly disappeared in many states. The issue regarding whether or not women should be allowed to play sports would not be settled until Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972 was put into law. Title IX stated that no person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance. • 9. The Realist Theory Of International Relations When Arab spring started to influence various countries in Middle East and North Africa with domino effect in 2010, Libya was one of these countries. There were uprisings in the regions because of the bad economic conditions, lack of the democracy, human rights, and people s demand for democracy of the cruel dictators. The demands or discomforts were same in Libya, but process of the Muammar al Gaddafi s regime s end was different from others as it was intervened by coalition states and NATO. Libya s intervene was carried out by the 1973 numbered resolution of United Nations Security Council in March, 2011. The reasons of the intervention were expanding democracy in the region, ending Gaddafi s violence through civilians and changing the regime. However, unlike other interventions in international area, it was quick and sudden. Therefore it was obvious that other than providing good life conditions to Libyan people, there were also other purposes of the coalition states through Libya s rich resources. Realism theory On the realist theory of International Relations, the basic assumption of this theory is that states in their foreign affairs, must pursue power, and ensure that they act rationally with the most appropriate step that will be taken to perpetuate the life of the state in a hostile and threatening environment. We pay for this through taxes, but the question that we must ask ourselves is are we getting what we are paying for? By paying our taxes to the government we are giving it the authority to choose the service we are getting back. The Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 (PACE) is an Act of Parliament which instituted a legislative framework for the powers of police officers in England and Wales to combat crime, as well as providing codes of practice for the exercise of those powers. Hintermeister American History Louisa Garry Due: Thursday, March 15, 2001 The Rockefellers feared the temptations of wealth, yet a visitor once described their estate as the kind of place God would have built if only he d had the money. They amassed a fortune that outraged a Democratic nation, then gave it all away reshaping America. They were the closest thing the country had to a royal family, but the Rockefellers shunned the public eye. For decades, the Rockefeller name was despised in America, associated with John D. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Oil was being used to grease the wheels of America s infant industries, to fuel the expansion of growth. Rockefeller lamented that so many wells were flowing that the price of oil kept falling yet everyone went right on drilling. He saw an industry plagued from overproduction and his own success was being threatened by ruinness cut throat competition. John D. was shrewd enough and he was analytical enough that he realized that in order to figure out a way to save his own firm and his own newly won fortune, that he had to figure out a solution for the entire industry. It was at that point that John D. began to conceive of the oil industry as one big interrelated mechanism. And you couldn t just change one component, you had to control the entire machine. In a move that would transform the American economy, Rockefeller set out to replace a world of independent oilmen with a giant company controlled by him. In l870, begging bankers for more loans, he formed Standard Oil of Ohio. The next year, he quietly put what he called our plan his campaign to dominate the volatile oil industry into devastating effect. Rockefeller knew that the refiner with the lowest transportation cost could bring rivals to their knees. He entered into a secret alliance with the railroads called the South Improvement Company. In exchange for large, regular shipments, Rockefeller and his allies secured transport rates far ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. The House Of Mirth And The Awakening Essay While feminist ideologies in both The House of Mirth and The Awakening are quite controversial and maybe to some nonexistent, it is quite evident that there are these two women who want to fight against their societal norms and patriarchal society. Lily Bart from House of Mirth tries to manipulate societal norms in order to achieve success, and Edna Pontellier from The Awakening actively tries to become and independent woman. In the end, I think they both succeed in becoming independent women and ideal feminists because of how they fight against their societies. Even though both Edna and Lily are suppressed by their society, they not only use their knowledge of society to fight against it, but they prove in the end of both novels that they are truly independent women and can be just as free willed as the men. Both Edna Pontellier and Lily Bart understand what society expects of them, and they use that knowledge later to manipulate conventional societal norms to try to become individuals. Albeit, it does not end ideally for them, but throughout both The Awakening and The House of Mirth Edna and Lily fight the suppressive nature of their societies. Edna is different from Lily in this sense, however, because Edna eventually actively rejects the ideal mother woman. When the novel first begins, we get a glimpse of what Edna was like when she was younger, which continues during her marriage to Mr. Pontellier. Knowing what she was like earlier on in her life shows how she ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the film, the vampires use their powers to terrorize the town and to lure in other teenagers to feed off of. By flying through the air, the vampires are able to kidnap the citizens of Santa Carla and take them back to their cave. Classifying Sports Fans Research Paper According to the world s largest search engine, Google, seventy two percent of 18 to 29 year olds, 64% of 30 to 49 year olds, and 58% of those aged 50 and older in the United States admit to being sports fans. Out of these millions of fans, most of them fall into certain categories. There are typically three ways to classify sports fans: the fans that think they are the coach, the dedicated fans, and the bandwagon fans. The first type of sports fan typically found is the fan that thinks they are the coach. These fans usually change the team they root for one or two times a years, usually around the time the national championship, world series, superbowl, or NBA finals are played. These fans just like to follow the crowd. Any new team that is winning this fan will claim they are a fan of them. However, when that team starts to lose or another team comes up and starts winning they are suddenly a fan of the new team. One good example is the Golden State Warriors. Three years ago, before they had arguably the best point guard in the NBA, there was not hardly any outspoken Golden State fans. Yet now that they are the defending NBA champions and have two time MVP winning point guard, they have fans everywhere. Not to say all of them, but many of Golden States fans are just rooting for the team because of how good they are now. It is hard to argue that the majority of sports sports fans do not fall into the category of either the fans that think they are the coach, the dedicated fans, or the bandwagon fans. Although every person is different, and every sports fan is different, it is not difficult to identify that they can be grouped very similarly into one of these categories. However, Descartes differed with his predecessors about mode of establishing ideas. According to Descartes the predecessors established ideas basing on what he considered to be somewhat uncertain and had shaky foundation (Mitchell, 2015). Thus, for him, he started the unique project by putting in consideration that everything he thinks he knows comes as a result of due time sense experience. Therefore, Descartes in this projects assumes that not everything we thinks is right is always correct, some time we deceives ourselves. Supporter s claim that it eliminates repeat offenders, deters potential murderers and is the ultimate retribution. Opponents denounce it as murder, say that it does not cause deterrence but rather promotes violence and claim that it introduces the chance of an innocent person being executed. Due to the arguments presented by both sides and because of my own personal beliefs, the argument against legal execution is most compelling. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The next method of execution developed after the electric chair was the gas chamber. The gas chamber was first used in 1921. This chamber of death is an airtight room with a chair into which the accused is strapped. Death is caused by exposure to cyanide gas, produced when sodium cyanide is dropped into sulfuric acid. The suffering caused is deliberate and plain to see: writhing, vomiting, shaking and gasping for breath for many seconds. This horrendous technique is used only in a few states. Another form of the death penalty is lethal injection. This form was introduced in the U.S. in 1977 and is now in use in twenty three states. This is the most widespread method and arguably the most humane. The condemned is strapped to a table and injected with sodium triopentone, losing consciousness in ten to fifteen seconds. This is followed by pancuronium bromide, which blocks respiration and finally potassium chloride to stop the heart (Jackson, 38 43). Finally, the last two forms of execution are death by firing squad and death by hanging. These two forms of capital punishment are very rarely ever used. In 1999 there were only two hangings and one death by firing squad. The convicted sometimes have the opportunity to decide how they wish to be executed, which was the case in these three executions.
