Essay Topics For Research Paper
Embarking on the journey of crafting an essay on the topic "Essay Topics for Research Paper"
can be a challenging task that demands a unique blend of creativity, research skills, and critical
thinking. The difficulty lies not only in selecting an engaging and relevant subject but also in
navigating through the vast sea of information to provide a well-rounded perspective.
Firstly, the challenge arises in the initial stages where one must brainstorm and choose a topic
that is not only captivating but also holds academic significance. The struggle often involves
sifting through various options, weighing the potential for exploration, and ensuring the chosen
theme aligns with the overall objectives of the research paper.
Once the topic is finalized, the real work begins. Extensive research is crucial for constructing a
comprehensive essay. The process involves delving into academic journals, books, and reputable
sources to gather information that supports the chosen theme. This phase can be time-
consuming, requiring a keen eye to filter through relevant data and discard extraneous details.
The synthesis of information is another hurdle that essayists must overcome. Drawing
connections between different sources and presenting a coherent narrative demands careful
organization and analytical prowess. The challenge is to strike a balance between providing
enough evidence to substantiate arguments and avoiding information overload.
The task becomes even more intricate when it comes to crafting a compelling thesis statement.
The thesis serves as the backbone of the essay, encapsulating the main idea and setting the tone
for the entire paper. Articulating a clear and concise thesis statement requires a nuanced
understanding of the chosen topic and the ability to convey it effectively to the reader.
The writing process itself poses its own set of challenges. Striking the right tone, maintaining
logical flow, and ensuring proper citation are essential components that contribute to the overall
difficulty of the task. Additionally, the essayist must be vigilant in avoiding plagiarism and
adhering to the prescribed formatting guidelines.
In conclusion, tackling an essay on the topic "Essay Topics for Research Paper" demands a
multifaceted skill set and a considerable investment of time and effort. The complexity lies not
only in the selection and exploration of a suitable subject but also in the meticulous crafting of
the essay itself. Nevertheless, overcoming these challenges can lead to a rewarding and
intellectually satisfying outcome.

The Development of Religious Archetecture in New
Kingdom...
The expansion of the political and economical power during the New kingdom, led to
the devotion of resources to the religious architecture; numerous new temples were
constructed while the pre existing temples were renovated. Individual Pharaohs
endeavored to out do their ancestors, not only in the construction of their own
mortuary temples, but also in the establishment of worship temples of their deities.
Kings of this period abandoned the pyramid complexity of the earlier ages and
constructed their tombs in the Valley of the Kings well away from their mortuary
temples due to the increase of robbers; therefore a standardized plan became default
for both the worship and mortuary temples. Because of this movement, I believe that

The turning point of the New Kingdom s architecture was during the reign of
Akhenaten, which took place during the Amarna period. During this era, the sun god
Aten became superior over all the gods, thus leading to the abolition of the former
gods that caused Egypt to have a polytheistic religion. Traditional temples became
neglected, whilst Aten temples of differing sharper construction emerged. Although
none of the temples of this period survived due to the ravages of later kings, yet
(image 7) portrays that the Amarna temples did not follow along the traditional
footsteps of previous architecture, instead they were smaller in size, with sanctuaries
open to the sun for the direct worship of Aten, with no doors and a large number of
altars. During the reign that followed, of Amehotep III and Ramses II, the
monotheistic religion returned and many noted changes took place. The tendency of
huge royal statues and funerary temples were a common feature as well as the
gradual yielding to columns with plant motifs and Osiride pillars, completely
transformed the atmosphere of the temples interior. A complete alternation in the
interiors of the great halls and courtyards of the temples resulted from the change of
supports, columns. Image 8 portrays the evolution of papyrus columns, from the 5th
dynasty all the way through the 20th. During the 18th dynasty, the
Ethical Issues Of Ted Baker
Introduction
The purpose of this report is to discuss and analyze the UK business and economic
market through 3 different newspaper articles. It further describes the effects on firms
which have undergone a change, affected by an external factor and an ethical issue.
The first article describes the continuous increase in profitability of Ted Baker
Company in the competitive market of retail clothing. The company succeeded
through the development of product differentiation and adaptation to customers
needs and demands.
The second article illustrates the impact of government intervention in the tobacco
industry and the legal confrontation contemplated by the major tobacco companies.

I.The case: Companies can be affected by many aspects of government policy as they
must comply with the law. Currently, the UK Government is considering passing
legislation preventing tobacco companies from displaying their brand names and
logos on their packs, in an effort to reduce both demand and consumption of tobacco.
However, the tobacco companies of Imperial Tobacco, British American, Japan
Tobacco and Philip Morris are prepared to take every action necessary to protect their
rights in order to maintain their branding on cigarette packaging.
II.Discussion, analysis and evaluation of the case: In case this legalisation is
approved, the UK government would introduce plain packaging with the aim to
improve public health and curb the appeal of cigarettes to young people. This
action could be viewed by some as with political interest and accuse the government
of electioneering. The UK parliament is expected to vote on regulations to ban
branding on cigarette packs before it is dissolved on March 30, 2015 in preparation
for the general election on May 7,
The Invention Of The Technology
Introduction Brief introduction into the topic In evolutionary terms, advancements in
technology are the utmost fundamental events to have occurred in human history.
Rapid growths in technology are extremely beneficial to our species. These growths
include, however, not limited to: the invention of fire, invention of electricity,
invention of cars and planes, and the invention of inter networking (The Internet). The
intention of the simplifying of life lead dramatically reduced the stress on human life.
It enhanced life. The invention of fire opened up gateways to cooking, lighting and
creation. The invention of electricity introduced the invention of the light bulb and
batteries. The invention of cars and planes made traveling easier. Finally, the
invention of the internet made retrieving information more accessible. All these
inventions had one common intention. To make life easier, and it succeeded.
Furthermore, exponential growth is expected from the growth and development of
this technology. However, batteries, technology based on an outdated principle that
hasn t seen exponential growth yet. In fact, batteries are limiting the progression of
society more than the average person suspects. According to Moore s law which
states that computational intricacy should grow exponentially every two years,
batteries fall behind. Battery technology is estimated to increase by 7% each year
(Rabaey, 2009). In the book, Low Power Design Essentials, it is made evident that

Epictetus And His Father s Belief Of A Stoic Life
Lyle Henderson experienced all the hardships that came alongside his father s
belief of a Stoic life. The quotation by the Stoic philosopher, Epictetus illustrates all
the struggles Lyle s father faces while still hoping with strong morals that the trials
he faces would make his life meaningful in the end. Previously, his father refused to
take the charity box without earning it through hard work. Sydney placed himself in
a dangerous situation through his noble action of approaching the danger of
Samson and his deadly shovel. The magnitude of the danger is shown as Lyle
narrates If Samson swung he would split my father s head wide open (Richards 55).
Despite his efforts, they led to no reward when the Hendersons discovered that there

However, Lyle was blinded by vengeance and angered by Sydney s inability to
defend his family against their society. Through the violence he witnessed from
their community and their actions towards his family, he conformed to the
violence. The Forged Coupon suggested that the wrongdoings of his son cause
numerous chaotic evets to unfold which is comparable to Lyle being influenced
by those that brought pain to his family. In addition, the role of the father s in both
stories causes the protagonist to take matters into their own hands through their
refusal to assist their sons. The cause of Lyle s action lies between the faults in
both Sydney and Lyle. Sydney s passivity causes Lyle to discard his father s belief
s and ideals and Sydney s refusal to stand up to his own son allows Lyle to take
advantage of him and view him as weak and pathetic. As a result, Lyle strays from
the path of kindness and honesty, which is evident through his expressions of
violence and the theft of the chalice. Lyle is foolish for ignoring the advice his
father gave him as becomes overridden with guilt while citizens are on the hunt for
chalice. His numerous thefts from McVicer s store are incomparable to the chalice.
The chalice serves as a significant object that draws the entire town on the hunt. The
chalice is a symbol of the church and God which Lyle blatantly
The Simpsons is America s Household Essay
The Simpsons is America s Household Television shows such as The Simpson s

be the typical nuclear family consisting of a mother, father, and three children that
live in Springfield, which is basically Anytown, U.S.A., but as most families today
The Simpson s have their own problems. Marge and Homer are the quintessential
American couple. Homer is a blue collared worker, who spends more time eating
doughnuts than paying attention to being in charge of safety at the local nuclear
power plant, and has been married to Marge since they graduated high school. He is
notorious for spending his evenings at Moe s, a local tavern, consuming obscene

made her mistakes in the marriage. In one episode Marge almost had an affair with
her bowling instructor and deserted her family every night to go see him. Since, this
is a lighthearted show she didn t go through with the adulterous deed, but it shows us
that even Marge is fallible. (http://www.snpp.com) Marge and Homer may be
unorthodox parents, but their children do not seem to be much different. Bart is the
oldest of the Simpson children; at ten years old this boy has gotten in himself into
more predicaments and mischief than most children even dream of. He has done
everything from cutting off the head of the town s beloved Jebediah Springfield
statue to getting the United States in diplomatic discord with Australia. His rebellion

potentially dangerous conduct he demonstrates. Whether his actions are out of a need
for attention from his neurotic mother or to rebel against the angst he has toward his
inebriated father, the community around him is the one that suffers from his
delinquency. Though Bart may be the product of his environment, Lisa, his seven
year old sister, seems to have come out of this situation with a remarkable amount of
morale and intellect. She excels in school and playing the saxophone despite her
The Atomic Bomb Of The United States Essay
On Monday July 16th, 1945, a countdown for the detonation of the first atomic
bomb took place near Los Alamos, New Mexico. This atomic bomb testing would
forever change the meaning of war. As the atomic bomb was detonated it sent shock
waves all over the world. There was endless research done on the bomb in the United
States. The research was called The Manhattan Engineer District Project but it was
more commonly known as The Manhattan Project.
The Manhattan Project was brought by fear of Germany and its atomic research. On
account of the fear of Germany the United States took action upon testing their own
atomic bomb. Once the bomb was tested, the United States had to decide whether it
should be used and if so, where? Then there was the process of dropping the bomb.
The Manhattan Project was overall one of the highest and most significant projects
ever done in the United States.
The United States government was shocked by the news of German scientists
discovering nuclear fission. The news came to the United States from Albert Einstein.
Einstein found out the nuclear fission information from a German physicist named
Leo Szilard. He then told it to President Franklin D. Roosevelt and urged him to start
an investment toward atomic research. The research would then help construct an
atomic weapon of mass destruction. Roosevelt was not especially concerned about
investing in atomic weapon research because he didn t plan on getting involved in the
War.

Bao Ninh s The Sorrow Of The Vietnam War
During the Vietnam War, the official ideology of North Vietnam was Marxism
Leninism, which the government tried to force onto their citizens. The majority of
the citizens were indoctrinated with their ideology, however, a small number of
citizens were not. The most championed campaign was the Three Don ts, which
forbade sex, love, or marriage among the young people (131). This political
indoctrination on the citizens of North Vietnam was of great importance to Kien and
Phuong s relationship in Bao Ninh s The Sorrow of War. This was shown through
both Kien and Phuong s rebellion of the ideology, Kien beginning to agree with the
ideology, and Phuong giving into the ideology controlling her. Originally, Kien
rebelled greatly against the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Particularly, Kien never went all the way with Phuong, even though she allowed him
to and wanted him to. This occurred at the time when Kien was rebelling the most
against the government, however, not having sex with Phuong shows the beginning
of him agreeing with the indoctrination because sex was practically against the law.
He looked at this task like a challenge, But he dared not accept her challenge to make
love to her (137). Due to the political indoctrination beginning to seep into his mind.
This began to tear their relationship apart because sex was something that Phuong
wanted and initially thought Kien did too. When Kien did not want to have sex with
her, she thought it was because he did not love her, which began to lead to a divide
in their relationship. Another major showing of the Kien agreeing with the
indoctrination was when Kien has volunteered for the army in the spring of 1965
(159). He went to war because he felt like it was right to go fight and kill for the
communist government because that is what the government was making him think.
Additionally, this showed that the communist ideology was seeping into his mind
and changing the way he thought. Likewise, Kien going to war helped to end the
relationship between Kien and Phuong because Phuong was against the war and she
believed that Kien going to war would just cause him to become another communist
puppet, which was the ideology she was rebelling against. It was as if Phuong had to
go against Kien to be able to follow what she
Microcosm In Run Lola Run
The film Run Lola Run By Tom Tykwer skillfully demonstrates how texts use the
distinctively visual to explore the human experience by elucidating time as a
microcosm of which presents individuals with unexpected obstacles. This is evident
through the opening scene where the audience is introduced to the protagonist Lola.
Her journey is characterized as a manifestation of the microcosm in her race against
timeas she battles to save her boyfriend within twenty minutes.Tykwer establishes the
connotation of time as microcosm through the opening shot where he uses
intertextuality and epigraph by T.s Eliot At the end of exploring we will arrive
where we started . The low angle as the camera pans to the gargoyle clock

The Sane Hamlet Essays
The Sane Hamlet
Hamlet contains the classic argument between whether or not Hamlet is mad, or a
sane man under difficult circumstances. Hamlet assumes antic disposition at times to
uncover the truth of his father s death. From my perspective I believe that Hamlet s
actions and thoughts are a logical response to the situation in which he finds himself.
In the first act, Hamlet appears to be very straightforward in his actions and thoughts.
When questioned by Gertrude about his melancholy appearance, Hamlet says,
Seems, madam? Nay it is know not seems (I, ii, 76). This is to say, I am what I
appear to be. Later he makes a clear statement about his thoughts when he commits
himself to revenge. Hamlet says, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This shows a man who feels justified in his action, and as an outsider we can
sympathize with this view.
There is little confusion and certainly no sign of madness in Hamlet s character. In
the Chapel Scene, when Claudius is praying alone for his guilt, Hamlet accidentally
sees him. He realizes that this is the perfect opportunity to perform the act of revenge.
Seeing the opportunity, Hamlet states;
Now might I do it pat, now a is a praying; And now I ll do it, and so he goes to
heaven, And so am I reveng d. That would be scann d; A villain kills my father, for
that, I, his sole son, do this same villain send To heaven. O, this is hire and salary,
not revenge (III, iii, 73 79).
We can witness this ability to reason showing the way in which Hamlet has a sound
mind and is far from the position of being mad.
When Hamlet appears again in Act Two, it seems that he has lost his conviction and
shows a puzzling duplicitous nature. He has yet to take up the part assigned to him
by the ghost. He spends much of the act walking around, reading and talking with
Polonius, Rosencrantz, Guildenstern, and the players. It is not until the very end of
the act that he even mentions vengeance. If he had any of the conviction shown
earlier, he would be presently working on his vengeance. So instead of playing the
part of vengeful son, or dropping the
Heraclitus Compare And Contrast
Opposition in Unity My interpretation of Heraclitus is the claim that opposites co
exist. To have an opposite means to have diametrically different ideas, actions, or
concepts. An example of opposites would be hot and cold; these are relative
concept of temperature with cold being the absence of heat(hot) and vice versa.
What Heraclitus is claiming is that opposites can exist together simultaneously or in
succession. This claim is suggested and exemplified in fragments 55, 41, 59, and 61.
A set of opposites that simultaneously co exist are permeance and change. Heraclitus
claims that changing it rests (55). Examining this claim through physics the common
example would be potential energy. While an object is at rest it holds this energy
called potential energy for its ability to change. When the object begins to move this
potential energy changes to kinetic energy, the energy of motion. While the object is
at rest, or in permeance the object holds the ability to create energy and change.
Furthermore, another example of permeance and change that Heraclitus mentions
directly is the river. Fragment 41 reads we step into and we do not step into the same
rivers . Step into a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That of a major key or a minor key. Major keys are composed by finding notes that
agree with one another. Minor keys are different in that the key brings two notes
together that create dissonance. Dissonance is the opposite of harmony it is created
by tension. Heraclitus says ... thought at variance with itself, it agrees with itself
(61). Dissonance is used in minor keys as a different way of bringing notes together
still creating harmony. Minor keys are described as sad, or somber, because of the
harmony the dissonance creates. Heraclitus is claiming is that this variance, while the
notes may not agree with each other, it creates a new agreement between the notes
creating a new harmony. These opposites of harmony and dissonance and

For the last couple of years all I have been using is the Xbox as the main console I
use for gaming. I have been very happy with my results, but I think that might
change. Ps2 had a great run, but in my opinion once the Xbox 360 came around I
think it beat the Ps3. Now, that the Ps4 has come around it has changed everything.
This essay is about the Xboxone and the Ps4. At the end of this I will choose which

more convenient because it is smaller that the Xbox one. The Ps4 already come with

In conclusion the Ps4 comes out on top overpowering the Xbox one, although that

features like vr(virtual reality) combined with their own. I still have hope for, since
i have been using the Xbox all my life, but we will have to wait and see later this
year to see what it has and for now, the Ps4 reigns
The Challenges Of Adversity And Diversity In The
Workplace
In recent years, diversity and inclusion have emerged as an essential business
practice. Why are diversity and inclusion so critical to organizations nowadays? Do
they really help organizations achieve better results? Why is it a unique issue in the
21st century workplace? To answer these questions, organizations should look into
factors such as globalization. Globalization increases interactions around the world
and diversifies the profile of the workforce, which also contributes to the changing
composition of the current workforce. While globalization offers extensive
opportunities for organizations, it also imposes many challenges that require new
responses. Organizations are not only looking for ways to effectively manage a
diverse workforce but also to leverage it to achieve better outcomes. As diversity and
inclusion gain more attention in the society, more research has been done on their
impact to organizations. Not too long ago, organizations implemented diversity
management initiatives, such as affirmative action and equal employment
legislations, just to fulfill their legal requirements (Jayne and Dipboye, 2004).
However, diversity and inclusion have since then become a business imperative. Are
diversity and inclusion the same? They seem to go hand in hand, but they are actually
two different notions that need to be addressed separately. While diversity recognizes
that each individual is different from one and another, and that such differences must

True Believer Nicholas Sparks
The book I read is called True Believer by Nicholas Sparks. I think the author wrote
this book because he wanted to create another love story for people to read. When I
read this book, you could obviously tell it was fiction but some part of me thinks
that this story could come true in real life. Nicholas Sparks writes romantic novels
that people fall in lovewith. I chose this book because I am a fan of Nicholas Sparks
books and my aunt recommended it to me. True Believer is to entertain readers
with a good love story where miracles take place. The book takes place in Boone
Creek, North Carolina which is not a real city, but a city Nicholas Sparks made up.
He pictured it to be in Pamlico County down on the coast where it would become a
good retirement city.
My overall impression of the book was that it was a very good book. It had a
mystery but yet was a love story with things you never think would happen. I really
liked everything about the book, especially the sequence of events because it kept
me on my toes. The author did a very good job of explaining the sequence of
events, but I wish he would have continued the book more. I think the author did
achieve his theme by coming up with a love story that included a ghost story, which
he said in his website that I read. The setting of the book was very well described by

Essay on Firefly Lab Report
The effect of ATP (adenosine triphosphate) on bioluminescence in fireflies.
Introduction
Adenosine triphosphate, also known as ATP, is the supply of energy found in every
cell that we need in order to do essentially everything (Anonymous, 2008). It is an
energy source for biochemical reactions such as muscle contraction, active transport,
molecular synthesis, and in fireflies, also known as lightening bugs, bioluminescence
(Biology Book). Bioluminescence is the process in which living organisms convert
chemical energy into light (Branchini, 2008). In the fireflies case the reaction
involves the enzyme luciferase which lights up a lantern like mechanism under the tip

Genocide And Human Endangerment
Why should humans and the world as a whole intervene in cases of genocide and
human endangerment? This has been a quite controversial issue, especially since the
second world war. Many people argue that we have an obligation to get involved in
foreign affairs while others believe humans should stay uninvolved. First, we must
know what genocide is. Genocide is the deliberate and systematic extermination of a
national, racial, political, or cultural group. The most recognizable being the
Holocaustthe mass murder of more than 6 million European Jews during World War
II under the Nazi Regime. Although it is unknown to many people, genocide and
ethnic cleansing continues to happen even now in places such as Myanmar. At his
Nobel Peace Prize Acceptance, Elie Wiesel said When human lives are endangered,
when human dignity is in jeopardy, national borders and sensitivities become
irrelevant. Wherever men or women are persecuted because of their race, religion, or
political views, that place must at that moment become the center of the universe.
With the knowledge of the Holocaust and current possible genocides, Humans must
intervene, stop and prevent further killings on the basis of race, nationality, politics
and culture. Utilitarianismis the ethical doctrine that virtue is based on utility and that
conduct should be directed toward promoting the greatest happiness of the greatest

Atkinsons (2005) states that within Indigenous communities,Land and Country are

number of components such as nourishments, stress reduction, interaction with the
land with a higher emphasize being placed on traditional land, personal identification
and culture playing a significant role contributing towards a balanced health outcome
( Yotti Kingsley, Townsend, Phillips Aldous, 2009). As highlighted in Lutschini,
2005, association of native individuals to their country, sense of group and family is
essential to the experience of wellbeing. As identified in literature, land plays a
crucial and central figure in Indigenous identity encompassing
physical, spiritual, cultural and emotional bonds (Richmond, Elliott, Matthews Elliott,

Juvenile Justice System And Treatment For Juveniles
In the past, children who were apprehended for committing crimes, were tried in the
same courts as adults. Furthermore, when the children were found guilty, they were
given the same punishments as the adults (Austin, Johnson Gregoriou, 2000). Today,
a separate justice system exists for children who commit crimes. The concept of a
distinct justice system and treatment for juveniles has come under attack in recent
years because communities across the nation began to experience dramatically
increased rates of juvenile crime. The increasing incidence and severity of crimes
committed by juveniles led many to question the efficacy of the juvenile court
system and to call for a harsher response to juvenile crime. This has led to more
juvenile arrests,
Presentation In The Military
Presentations can be unforgettable. They cause us to envision possibilities and
contemplate the future. Unfortunately they can also be unforgettable in how they
make us suffer. They can be tedious. Both examples were apparent during my 24 year
career in the military.
Bovee and Thill state, Planning oral presentations are much like planning any other
business message: You analyze the situation, gather information, select the right
medium, and organize the information (p.434). Presentations in my organization
accomplish this and other times don t. Usually one can tell when this has been done
and when it hasn t. Several are effective and others aren t.
There are basic reasons why specific presentations capture attention and certain don t.
One of the biggest problems with presentations in our workplace is, redundancy. They
pound the same information repeatedly. There have been presentations delivered,
where person decided that a word or point needed to change that would create little to
no difference in the presentation; however, we would be required to view another
presentation of the same material, occasionally less than a month after having it
presented. This goes against one of Bovee and Thills purpose for a message, Will
anything change as a result of your message (p. 94).
Others are quite the opposite. There are times we have ... Show more content on

Were the Mongols able to conquer such vast areas of land because of their superior
battle tactics or because of the tools and weapons the Mongols used?
I. Introduction
The Mongols were made up of many fierce tribes originating from the steppes of
central Asia. They were able to take over large parts of the known world in a matter
of a few decades. The Mongol empire was the greatest and largest continuous land
empire the world has ever known. Relatively shortly after Genghis Khan, leader of
the Mongol forces, died, the huge Mongol empire split into four Khanates that were
ruled separately and independently. Ultimately these empires also failed after a period
of time but the Mongols had a long standing influence on numerous cultures not only
of Asia but also of the Western world.
Genghis Khan was the leader of the Mongol forces. Originally named Temujin, he
gave himself the name Genghis Khan. The Khan s name has many different
translations and one of them is oceanic sovereign (Jarus). He was a natural born
tactician and conquered many great empires through clever, crafty, and many times
cruel ways to beat the enemy. Genghis Khan died shortly before he was about to start
a campaign against China and the Shin Empire. By Genghis Khan s death, the
Mongol Empire stretched from China all the way to Egypt. A short time after the
Khan s death, the Empire split into four Khanates. However, their combined size had

The Relationship between Academic Obstacles and
Facilitators
University students make up a large population in most countries and may be the
most important individual s part of a society; as they constitute of future
professionals and degree obtainers. The life of a student is very different to other
age groups and may prove to be extremely stressful and pressurised as the
importance to having a profession, especially in South Africa, is heightened because
of financial pressure and recessions. It has been argued and researched that the well
being of a studentis important for their academic performance, therefore their health
needs to be taken into context and maintained to ensure peak performance. The
purpose of this essay is to assess the relationship between academic obstacles and
facilitators and how they hinder or promote academic performance, as well as how it
may affect the well being of the student.
When students are going through a stressful period in their studies, such as exam
time or when assignments are due, they often feel exhausted and sometimes unable to
manage their time properly in order to get their work done on time, or simply not
being able to cope with the nature of the work. It is argued that students who are
experiencing emotional exhaustion will perform poorly in their studies (Salanova,
Schaufeli, Martinez Breso, 2008). This is because students who feel exhausted will
experience feelings of demotivation, irritability, detachment and cynicism towards
their work. While those who have positive feelings
The Main Functions Of The Central Bank
Central bank is a government created institution which has a very powerful impact
by its behaviour on the economy of a country, this includes financial firms as it uses
economic tools like credit policies and restriction and supply of money. The central
bank of a country would have more impact on the day to day activities of financial
services providers, including revenue and cost than any other institution in an
economy. The primary function of the central bankis to make changes according to the
situation in the market, this would involve supply and cost of money and credit to
the financial system, which would directly or indirectly contribute to the nation s
growth and goal.
(CHAPTER 2 THE IMPACT OF GOVERNMENT POLICY AND REGULAITON
OPN THE FINANCIAL SERVICE INDUSTRY)
The main functions of the central bank are that it controls the issue of legal tender
and it has monopoly over it, thus in a way also has the control over the supply of
money in the economy. As the central bank is the banker s bank it has control over
both the banking and the non banking financial institutions. It is the government s
bank and performs traditional banking operations, lending and deposit taking for the
government it has enough capacity to manage and administer the country s national
test. The central bank acts as the mediator and regulation with regard to the foreign
exchange and gold reserve. The central bank plays a very important role in order to
maintain and stabilize the price level and
Disneyland Is A New World Of Yesterday, Tomorrow, And
Fantasy
Over the entrance to Main Street in Disneyland is a quote by Walt Disney reading
Here you leave today and enter the world of yesterday, tomorrow, and fantasy
(Disney). Even then Walt Disney knew what this park is because here I stand with
my Aunt Laura, Cousin Ricky, and Sister Monica with among the thousands around
us staring off at the dark and distant gates, waiting for entry through to the happiest
place on earth. We all stand with impatience and excitement, for we know what is to
come will surely be an adventure into a new world filled with amazing attractions
and attacks on nostalgia that if only for a moment can take someone back to their
childhood.
First thing I see after crossing the threshold is a rather large Mickey Mouse flower
pattern that is a beacon to all that enter, calling all visitors to take a picture as the
perfect backdrop, however, we decide to walk past and walk through, as Walt Disney
called it on the sign above, yesterday, tomorrow, and fantasy. A wave of nostalgia
washes over me, and a brief childlike wonder set in at the sight of Main Street.
Shaken out of my nostalgia, I hear the sound before I see a marching band playing,
the trolley in the distance, and kids and adults alike lining up to take a picture with
Disney characters. My Aunt Laura among them, wanting to take pictures, and my
Cousin Ricky reluctantly obliges. Now, we are heading up Main Street, seeing the
early 20th century style architecture and I can see the Disney castle in the
Analysis Of The Poem If I Were Paul
Intercession: an interposing or pleading on behalf of another person. In Mark
Jarman s poem, If I Were Paul, the speaker displays many changes in tone and
diction to illustrate the crux of his ideology. The first three stanzas are completely
exalting in their nature. The speaker uses three distinct categories to do this:
creation of a being, virtue of an idea, and discovery of an object, and each of the
first stanzas are devoted to one of these topics. Each of these subsets are
purposefully selected to create a tone of artistry and fascination in the beginning
stanzas of the poem. Eventually, the speaker changes tone to display the hypocrisy
in the modern church. To a superficial reader, the speaker is rebuking a
congregation, but further analysis reveals the speaker is attempting to write as a
contemporary Paul of Tarsus, pointing out inconsistencies in the modern Christian
faith. The first stanza deals strictly with how you were made. The speaker uses
eloquent, articulate verbiage to express the imp1ressiveness of how you were
made. The speaker begins by asking the reader to consider the loving geometry and
passionate symmetry with which he or she was created. This causes the reader to
consider who or what created him or her, and being that the title refers to a biblical
character, most would undoubtedly assume the creator to be God. The mention of
God oftentimes is connoted with concepts pure, holy, and righteous. Moreover, this
would lead a person of
Prisons And The Correctional System
Jails are the washbasins of the correctional system. They are the oldest of the
correctional components and yet it still has a difficult mission and role while having
to be diverse. Jails hold a variety of inmates, those who have been arrested, detained
pending trial, sentenced to short terms of confinement for minor crimes, and those
being held for administrative transfer to another unit. These facilities face issues such
as dealing with unknown offenders, managing medical problems and detoxifications
and still provide the court with security and transportation for inmates.
Jails were first created in England and originally used in detaining offenders who
were awaiting trial. These jails were used to house the poor, and occasionally the
mentally ill. The early jails had miserable conditions to contend with such as filth,
violence, poor food, and very little medical care. To counter this, the Penitentiary Act
was drafted. It created four requirements for jails: safe, sanitary conditions, routine
and systematic inspections, inmates were no longer charged fees to be there, and it
became mandatory for inmates to be confined to their cells but to be out in the
common areas during the day. This act also detailed the requirements for diets,
hygiene and uniforms for the inmates (University of Phoenix, 2011).
Early jails in the United States followed the English model and were used primarily to
house those inmates that were awaiting trial. The typical punishment for a crime was a
The Cultural Celebration Of Puerto Rico
When we are young, we don t pay much attention to our family culture food
traditions. Maybe we do, but most of the times we enjoy them, more than knowing
the feeling behind that specific plate or the hard work that take to prepare a good

Foodtradition defines our culture. Not only defines our culture, but give us a special
connection with our culture and a connection with our familymembers in the distance

when Juan walks outside he sees an old man wearing a big hat, boots, and farm

only on the old man, but there were big blood splashes in the floor, and the steam of
A Very Brief Look at Spain
Spain
Spain also know as kingdom of spain is a soverign state, and is a part of the rest of
the European countries. Spain is designated in the southwestern Europe on the
Iberia peninsula, and also boarders the mederterranina sea. Spains capital is Madrid.
Spain has had its ups and downs throught out their time period , but one thing you
will notice is it always seems to flourish n the end. Does spains background really
make it what it is today? Spain went through so many trial times that it might seem
as if they would never succeed, but low and behold they did persevere. Does spains
global issues really make a difference in its success? There are so many aspects of
spain, but only the background, government, and success of spain matter. So, where
does spain stand as of today? We will explore, and express all of these subject in
spain just to find the conclusion and figure out spains postion in the world.
Spains background goes on for a very long time starting with Celtics, Iberians, and
Basques. They then became under the rule of Rome, but did not succed to stay there.
Smaller Christian kingdoms gradually started to take control of the peninsula. Wars
had began to start and it eventually led to no one leading the country suceessfully.
Once napoleon invaded spain this led to people wanting their indepednce. This
movement left the country politically in shambles because everyone was trying to
fight against their own country. Oce that settled spain had a civil war that
The Lone Ranger And Tonto Fistfight In Heaven Summary
There are many themes that appear in Sherman Alexie s book The Lone Ranger
and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven, but there seems to be one theme that is always
reoccurring in just about every story and that is alcoholism. There are many stories
that involve alcohol in the book but one that stood out more than others was Every
Little Hurricane. Alexie could have chosen anyone one of his stories to be first, but
he chose Every Little Hurricane to be the very first story people read in his book.
The story gives the reader a picture of how Indians live on the reservation and when
they party, some people get belligerently drunk and can get into fights like Victor s
uncles. Through the entire story every adult at the party was drinking even though

There are many research articles on the subject of alcohol in Indian reservations
such as Alcohol Attributable Mortality Among American Indians and Alaska
Natives in the United States, 1999 2009 by the American Journal of Public Health.
This article compares the alcohol related deaths of American Indians and Alaskan
Natives to that of Non Hispanic White Americans. The article goes in detail on
how they considered the deaths from alcohol in the categories of each race and
shows graphs as well as tables of all results. In the end the American Journal of
Public Health summarizes the results in a couple of short paragraphs such as this
quote AI/ANs had substantially higher rates of alcohol attributable death than
Whites from 1999 to 2009 (Figure 1). AI/AN males had the highest rates, followed
by AI/AN females. White males, and then White females. All of these groups had
lower rates in 1999 than in 2009 (AI/AN males, 97.3 and 98.9, respectively; AI/AN
females, 41.5 and 51.6; White males, 36.6 and 40.2; White females, 12.6 and 16.1).
With these results it is obvious how alcohol seems to affect not only American
Indians but also Native Alaskans, substantially more than Non Hispanic White
Character Analysis Of Hedda Gabler
Hedda Gabler is a play in which the author, Henrik Ibsen, demonstrates the heavy
shackles of society and the burden it impinges on women through the words and
actions of the protagonist, Hedda Tesman. Hedda is a woman living for her own
pleasure. At twenty nine years old and having been recently married, she is under
enthused with her surroundings and yearns for titillating experiences. Obsessed
with the aesthetics of the world, she wants to lead a poetic life filled with lust and
luxury, yet is too frightened by what her Victorian values deem proper, to do so.
Ibsen constructed a brilliant character that simultaneously arouses both sympathy
and scorn from the reader through Hedda s own words and actions. Hedda arouses
sympathy from the readers through her own personal conflicts. She is a woman
trapped by herself in a loveless marriage to an ingenuous creature (52 Ibsen) named
George Tesman. Tesman is a simple soul with very little to offer. Not only is he an
entire social class below Hedda, but he is oblivious, insecure due to his own
banalities, and overly reliant on his Aunts , despite being thirty three years old.
Hedda married George due to a bond of sympathy. . . (31 Ibsen) formed between
them and she took pity. . . (31 Ibsen) on George. This brings a sense of sincerity to
Hedda that was not turned to such a high magnitude preceding this discussion
between Judge Brack and herself. Hedda is a lonely, yet independent, soul that wants
sexual freedom without
Beethoven Accomplishments
Ludwig van Beethoven was born in 1770 in Bonn, Germany. He was raised in a
family of musicians, and his father sang and taught him how to play instruments. He
is one of many talented and admirable composers that are to be regarded when
deciding who was the greatest composer in European history. When considering the
greatest composer, it would have to be someone who had originality, natural talent,
and someone who put their all into their music. Beethoven possessed all of these
qualities, and is more than fitting for the title. Although he suffered from depression
and was quite closed off, Beethoven is the greatest composer in European history
because he developed his own style with his music, he had a natural gift, and he was
very passionate.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the Encyclopedia of World Biography, it says, (he) showed signs of unusual
originality and power . This quote expresses how he demonstrated skill at
composing and was able to give his music power from a very young age. When he
was only four years old, Beethoven s father taught him to play both violin and
clavier, and by the time he was eleven years old, he had composed three sonatas for
the piano. According to Ludwig van Beethoven , Ludwig van Beethoven s
contributions to the world of music and composition make him stand undeniably
among the most renowned and influential masters (DISCovering Biography). This
text is a great example of how Beethoven was incredibly influential in the musical
community, and by accomplishing so much at such a young age he must have had a
natural talent. In the book, Beethoven: Anguish and Triumph, it says, others were
inspired to feats of generosity for this brilliant but oblivious student (Swafford, 57).
Beethoven s teachers realized that he was going to become very successful, and he
that possessed a natural gift. In retrospect, Beethoven had an inborn talent for
understanding music and composing
Matthew s Argument For The Divinity Of Jesus
In our current day and age, removed from the accounts in the Bible, some would still
argue the divinity of Jesus. But this is not a new argument, the Disciples and even
Jesus himself faced the animosity of doubters. The Gospel of Matthew describes
some of these arguments and proves the undeniable truth that Jesusis the Son of God,
the Messiah whom the Jewish Nation waited, and the Savior of the world.
Matthew opens his argument by describing Jesus: born of a virgin in Bethlehem,
in the line of David, worshipped by Gentile Magi, brought out of Egypt, and raised
in Nazareth.1 Matthew employs this list of prophecies from Mosaic Law and
describes how Jesus fulfilled them all, simultaneously, as Blomberg s notes in his
portrait of Jesus, Matthew describes Jesus as Son of David, King, and Royal
Messiah, and Son of God. 2 Moreover, Matthew s examples of the use of these titles
throughout Matthew bear witness to Jesus divinity, as well as, how God could be
understood through Jesus.3 Matthew proves not only Jesus Messiahship but His title
of the Son of God.

Assessment of Stream Health at Conley Run Through the Sampling of Benthic
Macroinvertebrates
C.J. Laurin, C.J. Hess, M.C. Taddeo
Introduction
Located near Cowan, Pennsylvania, Conley Run is a tributary of Buffalo Creek that
has experienced severe degradation due to agricultural activity. Specifically, the
deposition of large amounts of animal wastes, pesticides, and fertilizers has resulted
in significant eutrophication throughout the stream. Furthermore, bank degradation
associated with the movement of livestock has caused the displacement of foreign
sediments into stream habitats. These factors, among many others, have caused the
lake to be considered impaired by PA DEP. In response, the Buffalo Creek Watershed
Alliance, the the Union County Conservation District, and the Department of
Environmental Protection and Fish and Boat Commision have partnered in an effort
to restore stream habitat and create a riparian buffer to protect the stream.
A separate tributary of Buffalo Creek, known as Stony Run, lies upstream from
Conley Run. Since it is located in a dense wooded area with little to no agricultural
interference, Stony Run has experienced very little degradation in comparison to
Conley Run. However, Stony Run also shares a number of similar physical
characteristics with Conley Run, such as discharge, watershed area, elevation and
slope. Therefore, it will serve as a reference stream for this study.
The objective of this study was to assess the stream habitat quality

The Cultural Value Of Visual Art
In this chapter I will look at the cultural value attributed to works of visual art that
use destruction as a tool in their creation. Art that specifically and mindfully deals
with destruction shows the complex process involved in a way that audiences can
interact with. Only up close do you see that a process of destruction is taking place
which is as complex as the process of creation. (Dorment, 2001). When presented in
a dedicated space and given the label of art, it becomes difficult and almost pointless
to try and separate and distinguish what is destruction and what is creation as they
amount to the same thing. Art created from destructive processes is valued when
placed in spaces dedicated to cultural and artistic purposes.... Show more content on

Break Down was a project for which during a two week period in 2001 the artist
Michael Landy systematically destroyed every last one of his possessions.
Destruction and deconstruction of artwork is used by many contemporary artists
to improve, transform and challenge not only the physical materials they choose to
work with but also preconceptions and aesthetics within society (Boldrick, 2013).
Landy on the other hand took the process of destruction within art to a much more
personal level. Once Artangel had selected his proposal for the project for funding,
Landy began an inventory of his possessions; a task that he thought might take a
few weeks but actually took three years to complete. The 7,227 items, including
Landy s car, passport and his entire collection of art (his own and other artists )
were systematically destroyed by a team of operatives using a custom built
conveyor belt and machines to crush, shred and pulverize the objects until only
powder remained. Landy says that he saw it as the ultimate consumer choice ...One

project finished he had to go out and buy more products a toothbrush, a pair of socks

The Matrix And Neuromancer Comparison
Neuromancer came up with a novel approach towards science fiction, and was
instrumental in spawning multiple movies of similar genre. One of such movie is
The Matrix . The reason I chose this movie for the review is the very concept of
stimulated reality in this movie being quite analogous to the one slowly budding
towards the end in the Neuromancer.
The Matrix is a sci fi heavily reliant on the theme of cyber culture and cyber punk.
Like Case, Neo too is a computer hacker, but the similarity ends there. While Case
is clearly an anti hero, Neo flies pretty close to being an ideal hero. Neo which is
also an anagram of One is the one prophesied by the Oracle to bring in the destruction
of the matrix and usher in the freedom of mankind. While ... Show more content on

Neuromancer, in the Matrix, it is the AI who are calling all the shots. But unlike
The Matrix , free will is not particularly significant in Neuromancer. Mostly,
because people are yet to imagine a world in its absence. Even the characters
reaction to their respective universe is quite distinct. Though Case seemed like an
anti establishment character, he follows the orders given by the AI, Wintermute
without much hesitation. In Contrast to this, except when hacking, Neo is a
perfect law abiding citizen who pays his taxes. Yet, he is the one who subsequently
leads revolution against the AI. Free will seems almost pivotal to the overall
delivery of The Matrix . Even though Neo had already made up his mind to explore
the truth as soon as he decided not to get out of car, there is a famous scene with
Morpheus and the pills. The scene is particularly significant as it reinforces the
view that choice is everything. Morpheus provided Neo with two pills. The red pill
would allow him to explore the truth while the blue pill would make all this
complications disappear. Even though Morpheus truly believed that Neo was the
only one who could save mankind, he gave Neo a
Regulatory Review Commission Case Analysis Essay
Regulatory Review Commission Inefficiencies in Operating the Operations Centre
Executive Summary Overview The Regulatory Review Commission s (R.R.C.)
operations centre has recently run into issues with handling an employee, Brian
Coffey. Coffey s manager, Monique Ricard, is contemplating how to handle Coffey
s behaviour, who has been consistently late to work, is missing deadlines, and even
not showing up to work. Ricard is looking for an answer as to how she can possibly
terminate or transfer Coffey, as his behaviour has not been documented sufficiently.
Problems The R.R.C. s problems stretch beyond just Coffey, but it may take an
outside perspective to notice them. While Coffey s behaviour is definitely an issue, it

can meet all of its deadlines in a constructive atmosphere. Problems The problem
needing the most immediate attention is Coffey s behaviour and performance.
Coffey consistently arrives at work late, and takes extended breaks. Coffey has
even gone so far as to set an alarm for when his breaks begin and when he can go
home. Coffey s tardiness reached a new pinnacle when he failed to show up to
work for a Monday and part of a Tuesday, without informing Ricard of his absence.
The most alarming concern Coffey poses to the R.R.C. is his attitude towards
meeting deadlines. Consistently Coffey either submits work just before or after the
required deadlines for assignments. Ricard has confronted Coffey several times
about his behaviour, and Coffey, stubborn to change, refuses to believe he needs to
improve. Another major problem the R.R.C. is facing is an issue experienced by
many government offices. Job security is basically ensured at the R.R.C. and the
process to terminate an employee is extensive and time consuming. All efforts must
be taken to first make a reasonable effort to assist the employee in improving their
performance. If the employee can t perform the duties of their position, an effort
must be made to move them to a position they are capable of performing. If the
employee is incompetent for any available position, only then can an employee be
terminated. The biggest issue comes when the employer needs to
Similarities And Differences In The Movie Shutter Island
Comparative Analysis Shutter Island vs Insomnia Shutter Island and Insomnia are
mystery thrillers which follow two detectives that are determined to solve the case
using their own techniques. Shutter Island is a classic, old fashioned thriller
directed by Martin Scorsese. The film is based in 1954 and follows a federal
marshal and his partner as they investigate the escape of a prisoner from a mental
facility. The federal Marshall suffers a series of hallucinations and distractions on his
path to uncovering the truth. Insomnia also follows a pair of detectives that suffer
their own set of distractions and hallucinations. The detectives are dispatched to a
small northern town where the sun never sets to investigate a murder of a teenager.
The movie also resembles a classic thriller filmthat is directed by Christopher Nolan.
Both films rely on a build up of suspense and tension to deliver a compelling story.
There are quite distinct similarities and differences in both films that are portrayed in
areas such as characterisation, cinematic effects and social issues. Shutter Island and
Insomnia use stylistic features to unpack the theme of appearance versus reality and
documents the effects of the psychological effects on the protagonists. Both films
portray the common theme of appearance vs reality in different ways. Noticeable
similarities and differences can be seen in the portrayal of social issues, cinematic
techniques and characterisation. Shutter Island revolves around Teddy Daniels, the
protagonistwho is a US Marshall sent to investigate the disappearance of a prisoner
from a mental asylum. The movie unfolds on shutter island where it is apparent that
there is a mystery to be solved. The movie takes the viewers on a psychological trip
through the mindof Teddy Daniels as he battles to find the missing prisoner. As he
progresses further with his case he starts suffering hallucinations and distractions
which deviate him from differentiating fantasy from reality. These hallucinations and
distractions derive from the PTSD Teddy suffers from. Teddy re experiences his
time in army fighting the Nazi s and his wife s death which distract him from solving
the case. Delving into Teddy s mind showed an
Persuasive Essay On Electronic Voting
If you re over the age of eighteen maybe you have thought about voting at least once.
Everyone should be able to vote, but with computers emerging as the main source of
technology of modern society, a city in the United States is considering using
electronic voting machines(EVMs) for the next election. These machines would be
used in place of traditional paper ballots. And citizens are divded on whether their
city should use EVMs or continue to vote through traditional paper ballots. Here are
the different perspectives on an issue of importance. In favor of using electronic
votingballots, some citizens in the U.S.A feel electronic voting machines help
more people vote more easily. In 2003 97% of voters of different ages, races, and
physical ability said they had no trouble using the machines. A 2006 poll in Utah
returned almost the same result. Even voters of different languages can smoothly
adapt from using the electronic voting machines over the paper ballots. Since the
costs of printing is high the many different languages are limited for the paper
ballots, so without EVMs voters who do not read english well have to ask the poll
workers for help making privacy impossible. Citizens also agree with using EVMs
over paper ballots because they are safe. They aren t connected to the internet, where
hacking often occurs, so they can t be tampered with. Voters with security questions
do not need to worry. They capture votes electronically and store them in
Lavey San Francisco Analysis
Satanism is a topic that has been misunderstood for many generations. Lavey is
someone who started to do a church of satanism in San Francisco. There has been
many problems involving if Lavey, the maker of the church, should actually even
have the church present in San Francisco. People were against this due to the
stereotypes and criticism they would get from the Christians, who would mainly
criticize the satanic church views on beliefs and religion. In reality the church of
Satan does not only worship Satan, it can focus on your own beliefs in religion.
Lavey gets his conflicts signing the petition for gaining the public church of Satan
from the catholic churchand Christians. Lavey went into a compromise and talked
with the meyer of San Francisco to get permission to gain the church in the city that
way he can have it shared with the public. The christians were against with that idea,
but Lavey tries to prove that it wasn t really necessary towards discriminating the
world and worshiping Satan like how the Christians think. It focuses mainly on
benefiting themselves without causing any harm towards others who can oppose them.
Having religious freedom was part of the 1st amendment. Lavey took that for granted
that way he can have the power to obtain the church of Satan in San Francisco. There

Moses and the Burning Bush Essay
Two men are walking to temple. The older man says to the younger man, So, do you
know why the Jewish people aren t voting for President Bush? The younger man
replies with an inquisitive No. Well, says the older man, the last time the Jewish
people followed a Bush they wound up wandering in the Desert.
This recent political joke is in reference to the Exodus story of Moses and the burning
bush. As stated in the bible it reads:
Moses was tending the flock of Jethro, his father in law, the priest of Midian. He
led the flock far into the wilderness and came to Horev, the mountain of Elohim.
The angel of YHVH appeared to him in a flame of fire out of a bush. He gazed: the ...

In the mountains of the central Sinai range, he saw the vision of the burning bush
that ordered him, by God, to return to Egypt and deliver his people from the harsh
life of slavery instilled by the Pharaoh.
The Zohar, supposedly written by the Spanish Jewish Mystic Moses de Leon,
presents some interesting additions to the excerpt from Exodus chapter 3. Several
hundred years ago, de Leon passed around booklets of teachings and tales never
heard or seen before by others of his community. De Leon claimed to others that he
had only copied the information from an ancient book of wisdom written by a well
known teacher of the second century who lived in Israel, Rabbi Shim on son of
Yohai. According to de Leon, after Rabbi Shim on s death the book became a
secret and was handed down to only a select few, including himself , and felt that
he was to share the age old secrets by copying portions from the original book and
selling them. When a young man named Isaac son of Samuel heard of the secret
midrash teachings of Rabbi Shim on he began a search for de Leon. After finding
deLeon in Valladolid, Spain, Isaac agreed to meet with de Leon in Avila to view the
secret manuscript. However during his journey to Avila, Moses de Leon fell ill and
died. When Isaac heard of de Leon s death, he went to Avila to find
What Is The Theme Of Damon And Pythias
Two Friends is historical fiction with the background being the Franco Prussian War.
M. Sauvage and M. Morissot are two friends who lived during this harsh and cruel
war. They have similar tastes like fishing and drinking. ...they understood one another
admirably without saying anything... (Maupassant, 1234). This quote shows that
these two friends are mentally connected, which means they have common behaviors
that enable them to be closer to each other. Slowly, a trustworthiness is built between
them. When the Prussian soldier asked them for the password, they both preferred to
keep silent. The two friends, side by side, pale, kept silent. (Maupassant, 1239).

Sauvage and M. Morissot. They were accused of being spies for the French
military. According to the German solders, the two friends would need a password
to enter that area. The German officer asked for the password in order to pardon
them. They were cruel and severe with no mercy. ...If you refuse, it is immediate
death. Choose. (Maupassant, 1239). The officer behaved violently and threatened the
two friends with death. Under this pressure, the two friends still preferred to keep
silent. At last, The officer shouted, Fire! The twelve shots rang out together.
(Maupassant, 1239). In Damon and Pythias , a tyrant called Dionysius ruled
Syracuse. He was not popular with the people because of his unjust cruelty. When
Pythias asked for leave for a few days before his execution, the tyrant didn t trust him.
Dionysius, the hardhearted tyrant...would not allow him to leave unless he left
behind him a hostage, someone who would be put to death in his place... (Russell,
1230). His close friend, Damon,a accepted to be the hostage. While waiting for
Pythias return, Dionysius frightened Damon about Pythias delay. However, at the
eleventh hour, Pythias arrived and saved his friend. ...by the faithful love they bore to
each other, conquer the hard heart of a tyrant king... (Russell, 1231). This trustworthy
behaviour between these two friends inspired the tyrant. He canceled Pythias
execution. What s more, he begged the two
The Term Cochlear Amplifier, Coined By Thomas Gold
The term cochlear amplifier, coined by Thomas Gold in 1948, can be described as
a positive feedback mechanism whereby outer hair cells amplify displacements of
the basilar membrane in the cochlea. It characterises the collection of processes that
increase sound vibrations in the inner ear (Ashmore Gale, 2004). Sounds are
generated by movement of air molecules that create changes in air pressure. These
changes in pressure are called compressions, when the molecules are closer together,
and rarefication, when the molecules are less densely packed and are cyclic, thus
making a pressure wave. The human auditory systemis able to respond to these
pressure waves over a range of about 20 hertz (Hz) to 20,000 Hz. The intensity of a
sound is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This electromotility of the OHCs has been attributed to the motor protein, prestin,
which is embedded in the cell membrane, and it is the role of these mechanical
changes that has been identified in amplifying the vibrations of the cochlea in the
transduction of sound (Zheng et al., 2000). The outcome is an enhancement of the
basilar membrane amplitude by more than one hundred times (Davies, 2014).
The key to the cochlea amplifier mechanism is the prestin motor protein as it is
this that underlies the activity of the OHCs. On the apical surface of sensory hair
cells are finger like projections, forming hair bundles, called stereocilia. These
stereocilia bathe in a cochlear fluid containing about 145 mM of potassium which is
called endolymph. The deflection of a single stereocilium invokes a pull on a spring
which links to the tip of the neighbouring stereocilium and thus pulls it in the same
direction. A domino effect subsequently occurs until the whole hair bundle has been
moved. This process causes mechanically gated transducer channels, which are non
selectively permeable to cations and are located at the base of the tip links, to open.
This provides a passage for potassium to enter the hair cells down its electrochemical
gradient as the electric potential of the endolymph, +80 mV, is much greater than that
of the hair cell body, between 55 mV and 70

Just a few days after the cast of The Flash weighed in on who could win in what

Brandon Routh think the new Man of Steel has what it takes to defeat the Dark
Knight?
The video was released by The CW, and it looks like Ben Affleck s Caped Crusader
has more fans in Legends compared to The Flash. Franz Drameh and Caity Lotz
agreed that Batman has something up his sleeve while Ciara Renee chose the DC
superhero simply because he s my favorite.
But that doesn t mean that Henry Cavill doesn t have any supporters in Legends of
Tomorrow. Dominic Purcell revealed that he is good friends with Cavill and
immediately took Superman s side. The best response came from Routh, who may

Cavill was originally slated to portray Kal El in the 2004 film when it was still under

Pros and Cons of Chase Strategy Implementation
In regards to operations management, production and planning are both integral
aspects. Managers, through properly planning are better able to handle unexpected
evening that might otherwise undermine the production process. In addition, proper
planning allows managers to manage expenses while delivering excess value to the
both consumers and shareholders at large. To facilitate this process, the chase strategy
is often implemented. This strategy, although complex in theory, is rather simple in
its application. Many companies experience variable demand for their products. In
many instances, production and sales are cyclical in nature. The retail industry is
notorious for the cyclical nature of its business. In many companies within the
industry, sales tend to rapidly increase during the holiday gift giving season.
Likewise, during the periods of June through August, sales tend to languish. This
concept is also noticeable in products that have seasonal demand patterns, such as
snow blowers or lawn mowers. In such cases, companies face several different
options in determining how to meet demand. Generally, these options fall into two
pure strategies which consist of the chase strategy and the level strategy. Under the
chase strategy, production is varied as demand varies. With the level strategy,
production remains at a constant level in spite of demand variations. The chase
strategy, when implemented properly provides a competitive advantage to firms who
are meticulous in
Essay about The Conflicted Japan of Yukio Mishima’s...
The Conflicted Japan of Yukio Mishima s Spring Snow
Yukio Mishima was a revolutionary author. His dramatic public suicide is the perfect
capstone to a life full of turmoil and unrest. Mishima himself was as conflicted as his
many stories and plays, which tend to play out the problem of which direction is
Japan heading, and should the nation be developing that way. Mishima romanticized
the samurai and nurtured a lifelong affair with traditional Japanese theater. At the
same time, he admired the West and studied Western art and literature avidly. The
influence is evident, from the decidedly 19th Century British feel of his novel, Spring
Snow, to the many references therein to Western art, literature, film, and philosophy.

Kiyoaki is he son of the Marquis Matsugae, a sort of nouveau riche during the reign
of the Meiji Emperor. Kiyoaki, a beautiful young man on the path to success in the
new Japan, is in love with his childhood friend, Satoko, the beautiful daughter of
the Ayakura family. The Ayakuras are very prominent, of higher aristocratic class
than even Kiyoaki s family, and the Matsugaes view the closeness of the families
as a fortune. Kiyoaki is a moody, pensive boy who gets a thrill out of alternately
rejecting and accepting Satoko s demure advances. Eventually the Ayakuras will
wait no more for Kiyoaki to make his approach for Satoko s hand in marriage, and,
faced with another offer from an impressive suitor, Satoko becomes engaged to be
married. Kiyoaki realizes only as the situation escalates beyond any reparation that
he truly loves Satoko. With the help of his friend, Honda, the son of a judge in the
Japanese court system, Kiyoaki begins an affair with her. The two meet cladestinely
for sex, and Satoko eventually becomes pregnant. Having violated multiple social
barriers, and after the realization of Satoko s pregnancy, the couple are found out.
Satoko is sent to a nunnery, and Kiyoaki dies, presumably of heartache and the flu, at
the age of 20.
The tragic story follows an arc not at all unlike British literature of the 19th Century.
It makes since that Mishima would use that style to write this novel; after all, given

Self-Evaluation Essay
As a junior in high school, I started getting emails from a division three college
known as Carleton. The purpose of these messages was to recruit me to come play
football for them. After multiple exchanges, I then got in touch with their running
back coach and recruiting coordinator, Coach Jerome Smith. I later found out that
Coach Smith got his master s degree in athletic administration from Indiana
University and had connections to the football program here as well. While he took
classes towards his degree, he also worked closely with the football team as an
operations intern and quality control coach. After recognizing his connection to
Indiana University, I reached out to him via text message to see if we could discuss
his position and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His idea of planning does not differ from what I learned in class; however, if I had
to teach this topic to kids looking to go into coaching, I would make it specific to
this field. Also, his outlook on division three athletics resembles what the book
says. They do not have a lot of money to bring in students; therefore, they must
focus on providing a fun environment for the players that do decide to play for
them. I really enjoyed this experience because it made me want to branch out and
gain as much experience as I can. Coach Smith started right where I am at and is
currently in the process of working his way up through the ranks, hoping to reach the
division one level eventually. As he pushed his way from quality control coach here
at Indiana, to coach at Marian University, and then through multiple division three
schools, Coach Smith took a small amount of knowledge from every position he
held. Now, he finally got himself to an opportunity to learn how to coach and
effectively recruit players to come to his school. Overall, I believe this interview was
an important step for me to reach my career goals and I will use this experience to
grow as a coach. I feel that this assignment is one that students should take seriously
because it forces you to reach out to individuals that you may not have otherwise
contacted. Being one step closer to my career goals, I can thank Coach Smith for
teaching me to branch out and connect with as many people as possible just as he

  • 2. The Development of Religious Archetecture in New Kingdom... The expansion of the political and economical power during the New kingdom, led to the devotion of resources to the religious architecture; numerous new temples were constructed while the pre existing temples were renovated. Individual Pharaohs endeavored to out do their ancestors, not only in the construction of their own mortuary temples, but also in the establishment of worship temples of their deities. Kings of this period abandoned the pyramid complexity of the earlier ages and constructed their tombs in the Valley of the Kings well away from their mortuary temples due to the increase of robbers; therefore a standardized plan became default for both the worship and mortuary temples. Because of this movement, I believe that the divine... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The turning point of the New Kingdom s architecture was during the reign of Akhenaten, which took place during the Amarna period. During this era, the sun god Aten became superior over all the gods, thus leading to the abolition of the former gods that caused Egypt to have a polytheistic religion. Traditional temples became neglected, whilst Aten temples of differing sharper construction emerged. Although none of the temples of this period survived due to the ravages of later kings, yet (image 7) portrays that the Amarna temples did not follow along the traditional footsteps of previous architecture, instead they were smaller in size, with sanctuaries open to the sun for the direct worship of Aten, with no doors and a large number of altars. During the reign that followed, of Amehotep III and Ramses II, the monotheistic religion returned and many noted changes took place. The tendency of huge royal statues and funerary temples were a common feature as well as the gradual yielding to columns with plant motifs and Osiride pillars, completely transformed the atmosphere of the temples interior. A complete alternation in the interiors of the great halls and courtyards of the temples resulted from the change of supports, columns. Image 8 portrays the evolution of papyrus columns, from the 5th dynasty all the way through the 20th. During the 18th dynasty, the

However, the tobacco companies of Imperial Tobacco, British American, Japan Tobacco and Philip Morris are prepared to take every action necessary to protect their rights in order to maintain their branding on cigarette packaging. II.Discussion, analysis and evaluation of the case: In case this legalisation is approved, the UK government would introduce plain packaging with the aim to improve public health and curb the appeal of cigarettes to young people. • 5. Epictetus And His Father s Belief Of A Stoic Life Lyle Henderson experienced all the hardships that came alongside his father s belief of a Stoic life. The quotation by the Stoic philosopher, Epictetus illustrates all the struggles Lyle s father faces while still hoping with strong morals that the trials he faces would make his life meaningful in the end. Previously, his father refused to take the charity box without earning it through hard work. Sydney placed himself in a dangerous situation through his noble action of approaching the danger of Samson and his deadly shovel. The magnitude of the danger is shown as Lyle narrates If Samson swung he would split my father s head wide open (Richards 55). Despite his efforts, they led to no reward when the Hendersons discovered that there were... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, Lyle was blinded by vengeance and angered by Sydney s inability to defend his family against their society. Through the violence he witnessed from their community and their actions towards his family, he conformed to the violence. The Forged Coupon suggested that the wrongdoings of his son cause numerous chaotic evets to unfold which is comparable to Lyle being influenced by those that brought pain to his family. In addition, the role of the father s in both stories causes the protagonist to take matters into their own hands through their refusal to assist their sons. The cause of Lyle s action lies between the faults in both Sydney and Lyle. Sydney s passivity causes Lyle to discard his father s belief s and ideals and Sydney s refusal to stand up to his own son allows Lyle to take advantage of him and view him as weak and pathetic. As a result, Lyle strays from the path of kindness and honesty, which is evident through his expressions of violence and the theft of the chalice. Lyle is foolish for ignoring the advice his father gave him as becomes overridden with guilt while citizens are on the hunt for chalice. His numerous thefts from McVicer s store are incomparable to the chalice. The chalice serves as a significant object that draws the entire town on the hunt. The chalice is a symbol of the church and God which Lyle blatantly
  • 6. The Simpsons is America s Household Essay The Simpsons is America s Household Television shows such as The Simpson s portray the deterioration of families in our society. From the outside they appear to be the typical nuclear family consisting of a mother, father, and three children that live in Springfield, which is basically Anytown, U.S.A., but as most families today The Simpson s have their own problems. Marge and Homer are the quintessential American couple. Homer is a blue collared worker, who spends more time eating doughnuts than paying attention to being in charge of safety at the local nuclear power plant, and has been married to Marge since they graduated high school. He is notorious for spending his evenings at Moe s, a local tavern, consuming obscene amounts... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This coupon clipping mom ignores the faults in her rebellious son and drunken husband. She may sound like her only weakness is being naive, but she has also made her mistakes in the marriage. In one episode Marge almost had an affair with her bowling instructor and deserted her family every night to go see him. Since, this is a lighthearted show she didn t go through with the adulterous deed, but it shows us that even Marge is fallible. (http://www.snpp.com) Marge and Homer may be unorthodox parents, but their children do not seem to be much different. Bart is the oldest of the Simpson children; at ten years old this boy has gotten in himself into more predicaments and mischief than most children even dream of. He has done everything from cutting off the head of the town s beloved Jebediah Springfield statue to getting the United States in diplomatic discord with Australia. His rebellion is considered harmless boys will be boys behavior, and never treated as the potentially dangerous conduct he demonstrates. Whether his actions are out of a need for attention from his neurotic mother or to rebel against the angst he has toward his inebriated father, the community around him is the one that suffers from his delinquency. Though Bart may be the product of his environment, Lisa, his seven year old sister, seems to have come out of this situation with a remarkable amount of morale and intellect. She excels in school and playing the saxophone despite her
  • 7. The Atomic Bomb Of The United States Essay On Monday July 16th, 1945, a countdown for the detonation of the first atomic bomb took place near Los Alamos, New Mexico. This atomic bomb testing would forever change the meaning of war. As the atomic bomb was detonated it sent shock waves all over the world. There was endless research done on the bomb in the United States. The research was called The Manhattan Engineer District Project but it was more commonly known as The Manhattan Project. The Manhattan Project was brought by fear of Germany and its atomic research. On account of the fear of Germany the United States took action upon testing their own atomic bomb. Once the bomb was tested, the United States had to decide whether it should be used and if so, where? Then there was the process of dropping the bomb. The Manhattan Project was overall one of the highest and most significant projects ever done in the United States. The United States government was shocked by the news of German scientists discovering nuclear fission. The news came to the United States from Albert Einstein. Einstein found out the nuclear fission information from a German physicist named Leo Szilard. He then told it to President Franklin D. Roosevelt and urged him to start an investment toward atomic research. The research would then help construct an atomic weapon of mass destruction. Roosevelt was not especially concerned about investing in atomic weapon research because he didn t plan on getting involved in the War. When Pearl Harbor was
  • 8. Bao Ninh s The Sorrow Of The Vietnam War During the Vietnam War, the official ideology of North Vietnam was Marxism Leninism, which the government tried to force onto their citizens. The majority of the citizens were indoctrinated with their ideology, however, a small number of citizens were not. The most championed campaign was the Three Don ts, which forbade sex, love, or marriage among the young people (131). This political indoctrination on the citizens of North Vietnam was of great importance to Kien and Phuong s relationship in Bao Ninh s The Sorrow of War. This was shown through both Kien and Phuong s rebellion of the ideology, Kien beginning to agree with the ideology, and Phuong giving into the ideology controlling her. Originally, Kien rebelled greatly against the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Particularly, Kien never went all the way with Phuong, even though she allowed him to and wanted him to. This occurred at the time when Kien was rebelling the most against the government, however, not having sex with Phuong shows the beginning of him agreeing with the indoctrination because sex was practically against the law. He looked at this task like a challenge, But he dared not accept her challenge to make love to her (137). Due to the political indoctrination beginning to seep into his mind. This began to tear their relationship apart because sex was something that Phuong wanted and initially thought Kien did too. When Kien did not want to have sex with her, she thought it was because he did not love her, which began to lead to a divide in their relationship. Another major showing of the Kien agreeing with the indoctrination was when Kien has volunteered for the army in the spring of 1965 (159). He went to war because he felt like it was right to go fight and kill for the communist government because that is what the government was making him think. Additionally, this showed that the communist ideology was seeping into his mind and changing the way he thought. Likewise, Kien going to war helped to end the relationship between Kien and Phuong because Phuong was against the war and she believed that Kien going to war would just cause him to become another communist puppet, which was the ideology she was rebelling against. It was as if Phuong had to go against Kien to be able to follow what she
  • 9. Microcosm In Run Lola Run The film Run Lola Run By Tom Tykwer skillfully demonstrates how texts use the distinctively visual to explore the human experience by elucidating time as a microcosm of which presents individuals with unexpected obstacles. This is evident through the opening scene where the audience is introduced to the protagonist Lola. Her journey is characterized as a manifestation of the microcosm in her race against timeas she battles to save her boyfriend within twenty minutes.Tykwer establishes the connotation of time as microcosm through the opening shot where he uses intertextuality and epigraph by T.s Eliot At the end of exploring we will arrive where we started . • 10. The Sane Hamlet Essays The Sane Hamlet Hamlet contains the classic argument between whether or not Hamlet is mad, or a sane man under difficult circumstances. Hamlet assumes antic disposition at times to uncover the truth of his father s death. From my perspective I believe that Hamlet s actions and thoughts are a logical response to the situation in which he finds himself. In the first act, Hamlet appears to be very straightforward in his actions and thoughts. When questioned by Gertrude about his melancholy appearance, Hamlet says, Seems, madam? Nay it is know not seems (I, ii, 76). This is to say, I am what I appear to be. Later he makes a clear statement about his thoughts when he commits himself to revenge. Hamlet says, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This shows a man who feels justified in his action, and as an outsider we can sympathize with this view. There is little confusion and certainly no sign of madness in Hamlet s character. In the Chapel Scene, when Claudius is praying alone for his guilt, Hamlet accidentally sees him. He realizes that this is the perfect opportunity to perform the act of revenge. Seeing the opportunity, Hamlet states; Now might I do it pat, now a is a praying; And now I ll do it, and so he goes to heaven, And so am I reveng d. That would be scann d; A villain kills my father, for that, I, his sole son, do this same villain send To heaven. O, this is hire and salary, not revenge (III, iii, 73 79). We can witness this ability to reason showing the way in which Hamlet has a sound mind and is far from the position of being mad. When Hamlet appears again in Act Two, it seems that he has lost his conviction and shows a puzzling duplicitous nature. He has yet to take up the part assigned to him by the ghost. He spends much of the act walking around, reading and talking with Polonius, Rosencrantz, Guildenstern, and the players. It is not until the very end of the act that he even mentions vengeance. If he had any of the conviction shown earlier, he would be presently working on his vengeance. So instead of playing the part of vengeful son, or dropping the
  • 11. Heraclitus Compare And Contrast Opposition in Unity My interpretation of Heraclitus is the claim that opposites co exist. To have an opposite means to have diametrically different ideas, actions, or concepts. An example of opposites would be hot and cold; these are relative concept of temperature with cold being the absence of heat(hot) and vice versa. What Heraclitus is claiming is that opposites can exist together simultaneously or in succession. This claim is suggested and exemplified in fragments 55, 41, 59, and 61. A set of opposites that simultaneously co exist are permeance and change. Heraclitus claims that changing it rests (55). Examining this claim through physics the common example would be potential energy. While an object is at rest it holds this energy called potential energy for its ability to change. When the object begins to move this potential energy changes to kinetic energy, the energy of motion. While the object is at rest, or in permeance the object holds the ability to create energy and change. • 14. The Challenges Of Adversity And Diversity In The Workplace In recent years, diversity and inclusion have emerged as an essential business practice. Why are diversity and inclusion so critical to organizations nowadays? Do they really help organizations achieve better results? Why is it a unique issue in the 21st century workplace? To answer these questions, organizations should look into factors such as globalization. Globalization increases interactions around the world and diversifies the profile of the workforce, which also contributes to the changing composition of the current workforce. While globalization offers extensive opportunities for organizations, it also imposes many challenges that require new responses. Organizations are not only looking for ways to effectively manage a diverse workforce but also to leverage it to achieve better outcomes. As diversity and inclusion gain more attention in the society, more research has been done on their impact to organizations. Not too long ago, organizations implemented diversity management initiatives, such as affirmative action and equal employment legislations, just to fulfill their legal requirements (Jayne and Dipboye, 2004). However, diversity and inclusion have since then become a business imperative. Are diversity and inclusion the same? They seem to go hand in hand, but they are actually two different notions that need to be addressed separately. While diversity recognizes that each individual is different from one and another, and that such differences must be

This has been a quite controversial issue, especially since the second world war. Genocide is the deliberate and systematic extermination of a national, racial, political, or cultural group. The most recognizable being the Holocaustthe mass murder of more than 6 million European Jews during World War II under the Nazi Regime. In Mark Jarman s poem, If I Were Paul, the speaker displays many changes in tone and diction to illustrate the crux of his ideology. The first three stanzas are completely exalting in their nature. The speaker uses three distinct categories to do this: creation of a being, virtue of an idea, and discovery of an object, and each of the first stanzas are devoted to one of these topics. Each of these subsets are purposefully selected to create a tone of artistry and fascination in the beginning stanzas of the poem. Eventually, the speaker changes tone to display the hypocrisy in the modern church. To a superficial reader, the speaker is rebuking a congregation, but further analysis reveals the speaker is attempting to write as a contemporary Paul of Tarsus, pointing out inconsistencies in the modern Christian faith. The first stanza deals strictly with how you were made. The speaker uses eloquent, articulate verbiage to express the imp1ressiveness of how you were made. The speaker begins by asking the reader to consider the loving geometry and passionate symmetry with which he or she was created. This causes the reader to consider who or what created him or her, and being that the title refers to a biblical character, most would undoubtedly assume the creator to be God. The mention of God oftentimes is connoted with concepts pure, holy, and righteous. Moreover, this would lead a person of
  • 29. Prisons And The Correctional System Jails are the washbasins of the correctional system. They are the oldest of the correctional components and yet it still has a difficult mission and role while having to be diverse. Jails hold a variety of inmates, those who have been arrested, detained pending trial, sentenced to short terms of confinement for minor crimes, and those being held for administrative transfer to another unit. These facilities face issues such as dealing with unknown offenders, managing medical problems and detoxifications and still provide the court with security and transportation for inmates. Jails were first created in England and originally used in detaining offenders who were awaiting trial. These jails were used to house the poor, and occasionally the mentally ill. The early jails had miserable conditions to contend with such as filth, violence, poor food, and very little medical care. To counter this, the Penitentiary Act was drafted. It created four requirements for jails: safe, sanitary conditions, routine and systematic inspections, inmates were no longer charged fees to be there, and it became mandatory for inmates to be confined to their cells but to be out in the common areas during the day. This act also detailed the requirements for diets, hygiene and uniforms for the inmates (University of Phoenix, 2011). Early jails in the United States followed the English model and were used primarily to house those inmates that were awaiting trial. The typical punishment for a crime was a

There are many stories that involve alcohol in the book but one that stood out more than others was Every Little Hurricane. Alexie could have chosen anyone one of his stories to be first, but he chose Every Little Hurricane to be the very first story people read in his book. The story gives the reader a picture of how Indians live on the reservation and when they party, some people get belligerently drunk and can get into fights like Victor s uncles. There are many research articles on the subject of alcohol in Indian reservations such as Alcohol Attributable Mortality Among American Indians and Alaska Natives in the United States, 1999 2009 by the American Journal of Public Health. This article compares the alcohol related deaths of American Indians and Alaskan Natives to that of Non Hispanic White Americans. The article goes in detail on how they considered the deaths from alcohol in the categories of each race and shows graphs as well as tables of all results. In the end the American Journal of Public Health summarizes the results in a couple of short paragraphs such as this quote AI/ANs had substantially higher rates of alcohol attributable death than Whites from 1999 to 2009 (Figure 1). AI/AN males had the highest rates, followed by AI/AN females. White males, and then White females. All of these groups had lower rates in 1999 than in 2009 (AI/AN males, 97.3 and 98.9, respectively; AI/AN females, 41.5 and 51.6; White males, 36.6 and 40.2; White females, 12.6 and 16.1). With these results it is obvious how alcohol seems to affect not only American Indians but also Native Alaskans, substantially more than Non Hispanic White
  • 33. Character Analysis Of Hedda Gabler Hedda Gabler is a play in which the author, Henrik Ibsen, demonstrates the heavy shackles of society and the burden it impinges on women through the words and actions of the protagonist, Hedda Tesman. Hedda is a woman living for her own pleasure. At twenty nine years old and having been recently married, she is under enthused with her surroundings and yearns for titillating experiences. Obsessed with the aesthetics of the world, she wants to lead a poetic life filled with lust and luxury, yet is too frightened by what her Victorian values deem proper, to do so. Ibsen constructed a brilliant character that simultaneously arouses both sympathy and scorn from the reader through Hedda s own words and actions. Hedda arouses sympathy from the readers through her own personal conflicts. She is a woman trapped by herself in a loveless marriage to an ingenuous creature (52 Ibsen) named George Tesman. Tesman is a simple soul with very little to offer. Not only is he an entire social class below Hedda, but he is oblivious, insecure due to his own banalities, and overly reliant on his Aunts , despite being thirty three years old. Hedda married George due to a bond of sympathy. . . (31 Ibsen) formed between them and she took pity. . . (31 Ibsen) on George. When considering the greatest composer, it would have to be someone who had originality, natural talent, and someone who put their all into their music. But this is not a new argument, the Disciples and even Jesus himself faced the animosity of doubters. The Gospel of Matthew describes some of these arguments and proves the undeniable truth that Jesusis the Son of God, the Messiah whom the Jewish Nation waited, and the Savior of the world. Matthew opens his argument by describing Jesus: born of a virgin in Bethlehem, in the line of David, worshipped by Gentile Magi, brought out of Egypt, and raised in Nazareth.1 Matthew employs this list of prophecies from Mosaic Law and describes how Jesus fulfilled them all, simultaneously, as Blomberg s notes in his portrait of Jesus, Matthew describes Jesus as Son of David, King, and Royal Messiah, and Son of God. 2 Moreover, Matthew s examples of the use of these titles throughout Matthew bear witness to Jesus divinity, as well as, how God could be understood through Jesus.3 Matthew proves not only Jesus Messiahship but His title of the Son of God.

Taddeo Introduction Located near Cowan, Pennsylvania, Conley Run is a tributary of Buffalo Creek that has experienced severe degradation due to agricultural activity. Specifically, the deposition of large amounts of animal wastes, pesticides, and fertilizers has resulted in significant eutrophication throughout the stream. Furthermore, bank degradation associated with the movement of livestock has caused the displacement of foreign sediments into stream habitats. These factors, among many others, have caused the lake to be considered impaired by PA DEP. In response, the Buffalo Creek Watershed Alliance, the the Union County Conservation District, and the Department of Environmental Protection and Fish and Boat Commision have partnered in an effort to restore stream habitat and create a riparian buffer to protect the stream. A separate tributary of Buffalo Creek, known as Stony Run, lies upstream from Conley Run. Since it is located in a dense wooded area with little to no agricultural interference, Stony Run has experienced very little degradation in comparison to Conley Run. However, Stony Run also shares a number of similar physical characteristics with Conley Run, such as discharge, watershed area, elevation and slope. Therefore, it will serve as a reference stream for this study. The objective of this study was to assess the stream habitat quality

Art that specifically and mindfully deals with destruction shows the complex process involved in a way that audiences can interact with. Only up close do you see that a process of destruction is taking place which is as complex as the process of creation. (Dorment, 2001). When presented in a dedicated space and given the label of art, it becomes difficult and almost pointless to try and separate and distinguish what is destruction and what is creation as they amount to the same thing. Landy on the other hand took the process of destruction within art to a much more personal level. Once Artangel had selected his proposal for the project for funding, Landy began an inventory of his possessions; a task that he thought might take a few weeks but actually took three years to complete. The 7,227 items, including Landy s car, passport and his entire collection of art (his own and other artists ) were systematically destroyed by a team of operatives using a custom built conveyor belt and machines to crush, shred and pulverize the objects until only powder remained. The Matrix is a sci fi heavily reliant on the theme of cyber culture and cyber punk. Like Case, Neo too is a computer hacker, but the similarity ends there. But unlike The Matrix , free will is not particularly significant in Neuromancer. Mostly, because people are yet to imagine a world in its absence. Even the characters reaction to their respective universe is quite distinct. Though Case seemed like an anti establishment character, he follows the orders given by the AI, Wintermute without much hesitation. In Contrast to this, except when hacking, Neo is a perfect law abiding citizen who pays his taxes. Yet, he is the one who subsequently leads revolution against the AI. The scene is particularly significant as it reinforces the view that choice is everything. Morpheus provided Neo with two pills. Coffey s tardiness reached a new pinnacle when he failed to show up to work for a Monday and part of a Tuesday, without informing Ricard of his absence. • 49. The Term Cochlear Amplifier, Coined By Thomas Gold The term cochlear amplifier, coined by Thomas Gold in 1948, can be described as a positive feedback mechanism whereby outer hair cells amplify displacements of the basilar membrane in the cochlea. It characterises the collection of processes that increase sound vibrations in the inner ear (Ashmore Gale, 2004). Sounds are generated by movement of air molecules that create changes in air pressure. These changes in pressure are called compressions, when the molecules are closer together, and rarefication, when the molecules are less densely packed and are cyclic, thus making a pressure wave. The human auditory systemis able to respond to these pressure waves over a range of about 20 hertz (Hz) to 20,000 Hz. The intensity of a sound is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This electromotility of the OHCs has been attributed to the motor protein, prestin, which is embedded in the cell membrane, and it is the role of these mechanical changes that has been identified in amplifying the vibrations of the cochlea in the transduction of sound (Zheng et al., 2000). The outcome is an enhancement of the basilar membrane amplitude by more than one hundred times (Davies, 2014). The key to the cochlea amplifier mechanism is the prestin motor protein as it is this that underlies the activity of the OHCs. On the apical surface of sensory hair cells are finger like projections, forming hair bundles, called stereocilia. These stereocilia bathe in a cochlear fluid containing about 145 mM of potassium which is called endolymph. The deflection of a single stereocilium invokes a pull on a spring which links to the tip of the neighbouring stereocilium and thus pulls it in the same direction. A domino effect subsequently occurs until the whole hair bundle has been moved. This process causes mechanically gated transducer channels, which are non selectively permeable to cations and are located at the base of the tip links, to open. This provides a passage for potassium to enter the hair cells down its electrochemical gradient as the electric potential of the endolymph, +80 mV, is much greater than that of the hair cell body, between 55 mV and 70

Managers, through properly planning are better able to handle unexpected evening that might otherwise undermine the production process. In addition, proper planning allows managers to manage expenses while delivering excess value to the both consumers and shareholders at large. To facilitate this process, the chase strategy is often implemented. This strategy, although complex in theory, is rather simple in its application. Many companies experience variable demand for their products. In many instances, production and sales are cyclical in nature. The retail industry is notorious for the cyclical nature of its business. In many companies within the industry, sales tend to rapidly increase during the holiday gift giving season. Likewise, during the periods of June through August, sales tend to languish. This concept is also noticeable in products that have seasonal demand patterns, such as snow blowers or lawn mowers. In such cases, companies face several different options in determining how to meet demand. Generally, these options fall into two pure strategies which consist of the chase strategy and the level strategy. Under the chase strategy, production is varied as demand varies. With the level strategy, production remains at a constant level in spite of demand variations. The chase strategy, when implemented properly provides a competitive advantage to firms who are meticulous in

  • 54. Self-Evaluation Essay As a junior in high school, I started getting emails from a division three college known as Carleton. The purpose of these messages was to recruit me to come play football for them. After multiple exchanges, I then got in touch with their running back coach and recruiting coordinator, Coach Jerome Smith. I later found out that Coach Smith got his master s degree in athletic administration from Indiana University and had connections to the football program here as well. While he took classes towards his degree, he also worked closely with the football team as an operations intern and quality control coach. After recognizing his connection to Indiana University, I reached out to him via text message to see if we could discuss his position and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I really enjoyed this experience because it made me want to branch out and gain as much experience as I can. Coach Smith started right where I am at and is currently in the process of working his way up through the ranks, hoping to reach the division one level eventually. As he pushed his way from quality control coach here at Indiana, to coach at Marian University, and then through multiple division three schools, Coach Smith took a small amount of knowledge from every position he held. Overall, I believe this interview was an important step for me to reach my career goals and I will use this experience to grow as a coach. I feel that this assignment is one that students should take seriously because it forces you to reach out to individuals that you may not have otherwise contacted. Being one step closer to my career goals, I can thank Coach Smith for teaching me to branch out and connect with as many people as possible just as he
