An update to a presentation I posted months ago, this looks at the relationship between knowledge management and enterprise 2.0. It includes several frameworks and details from the Market IQ on enterprise 2.0
Enterprise 2.0 = Knowledge Management 2.0? For KM Practitioners in Law FirmsDan Keldsen
A revised/expanded version of the Enterprise 2.0 = Knowledge Management 2.0? presentation I first gave in March 2008, reprised twice as two variations in June 2008 at the Enterprise 2.0 conference, and have again revised/expanded for KM Practitioners in Law Firms that came together a month ago just two blocks down from my office. Great experience - great people - great topics. Those are the kind of speaking engagements that make it all worth it.
This document contains a number of very usable and unique Innovation Strategy & Management Canvases. These Canvases can be used to quickly get ideas how to set-up your Innovation strategy and management environment. I have also uploaded the Innovation Playbook. In this playbook, we outline the innovation challenge that leaders must overcome, and share our approach to embedding innovation into organisations. This includes an explanation of our Innovation Management Framework and a step-by-step guide to running a sprint that will quickly create a minimum viable innovation operating model. We based both these tools on our experience as heads of innovation and industry leaders, and honed them through our work with organisations around the world, from global financial institutions to market-leading drinks companies. Once on this transformative journey, leaders will instil an experimental culture across their organisations, something that’s necessary for achieving sustainable results. They’ll be able to respond to disruption in their industry, drive measurable returns from their innovation investments and become more efficient at responding to the needs of society and the environment.

At the time, our first-quarter 2008 “Market IQ” on Enterprise 2.0 had just been completed, and a survey of 441 people revealed a subset who are having more success with Enterprise 2.0 than the general survey population. Does Enterprise 2.0 signify the birth of KM 2.0? We’ll examine some of the findings, and discuss the implications for new and old KM implementations.

Trends at JavaOne 2016: Microservices, Docker and Cloud-Native MiddlewareKai Wähner
In addition to focusing on many related concepts like container or service discovery, technologies like Docker and cloud platforms, my session also discussed ten lessons learned from building cloud-native middleware microservices together with our customers in the last months.
The demo brings this from theory to practice by showing how to deploy a single (i.e. built just once) TIBCO BusinessWorks Container Edition microservice to different cloud and container platforms: Docker, Kubernetes and Pivotal CloudFoundry. The video also shows how to leverage other cloud-native open source frameworks such as Consul and Spring Cloud Config for distributed configuration management and service discovery of middleware microservices.

DevOps, containers & microservices: Separating the hype from the realityDonnie Berkholz
In this talk, Donnie shared what he's seen and what he predicts for the future of how we build and deploy applications to generate business value. You'll hear buzzwords like DevOps, Docker, and microservices used in ways that actually make sense (for a change), see real-world examples of companies that have succeeded at the leading edge, and learn how approaches like the one taken by HashiCorp's Terraform (by the authors of Vagrant) will be critical to the future of how we build software.
Case Study: How to move from a Monolith to Cloud, Containers and MicroservicesKai Wähner
This session shows a case study about successfully moving from a very complex monolith system to a cloud-native architecture. The architecture leverages containers and Microservices to solve issues such as high efforts for extending the system, and a very slow deployment process. The old system included a few huge Java applications and a complex integration middleware deployment.
The new architecture allows flexible development, deployment and operations of business and integration services. Besides, it is vendor-agnostic so that you can leverage on-premise hardware, different public cloud infrastructures, and cloud-native PaaS platforms.
The session will describe the challenges of the existing monolith system, the step-by-step procedure to move to the new cloud-native Microservices architecture, and why containers such as Docker play a key role in this scenario.
A live demo shows how container solutions such as Docker, PaaS cloud platforms such as CloudFoundry, cluster managers such as Kubernetes or Mesos, and different programming languages are used to implement, deploy and scale cloud-native Microservices in a vendor-agnostic way.
Key takeaways for the audience:
- Best practices for moving to a cloud-native architecture
- How to leverage microservices and containers for flexible development, deployment and operations
- How to solve challenges in real world projects
- Understand key technologies, which are recommended
- How to stay vendor-agnostic
- See a live demo of how cloud-native applications respectively services differ from monolith applications regarding development and runtime

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.
Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.
Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.
