We assumed that the cost of graphite which according to exhibit 8 has been growing slower year on
year would grow steadily at 4% and that power costs would grow at 12% per year up to 1989. We also
assumed that the benefits of laminate technology will only be felt starting in 1981. With 1980 as the
base year, the NPV calculation was done as at December, 1980 and we assumed that the cash injection
of $2.5million dollars would occur instantaneously in December 1980. Using a median assumption of

Examples Of Tragic Tragedy Of Julius Caesar
Chapter1 Tragic hero. The two tragedies are named on the certain characters picked up from the play
itself, one is Julius Caesar and other is Macbeth. In the play Julius Caesar, Caesar is character who is
the ruler of the Rome and the play commences with his welcoming by Romans after defeating the
Pompey. However, there are very few instances where we can see Caesar on stage with little focus on
revelation of his personal attributes, whereas Marcus Brutus has remained the main focus throughout
the play. Initially, Cassius seems to provoke Brutus to get acquainted with his notions about Caesar

instead as the Scottish play . Similarly, after the death of Julius Caesar it is believed that Marcus
Brutus was haunted by the spirit of Julius Caesar, these instances add obnubilation in the minds of the

A Journey Comparative Book Essay
A new dawn has broken, has it not? Tony Blair states as the day began of his 1997 General Election
Victory. Tony Blair ended two decades of Conservative Party rule campaigning for New Labour. A
Journey by Tony Blair accounts for his time as Labour leader and Prime Minister of Great Britain. As
Tony Blair states in the introduction of the book, his biography is not a memoir. It is instead Blair s
personal reflection of history occurring around his surroundings during his term. Tony Blair is
depicted here as not only a politician, but as a family man, explaining some events not occurring in his
political life, but greatly affecting it in some way. Tony Blair s first hand account during his time as

Following the funeral, the Queen informs Blair that lessons must be learned from the way things are
handled. Tony Blair interactions with the Queen are not always politically, very often, they are social,
thus improving the view of the head of government and strengthening the belief of the Constitution of
the Crown . Another crucial moment of his prime ministership was his role during the Northern
Ireland PEace Agreement. Blair recalls his childhood vacations in Ireland, where his mother and
grandmother will tell him stories, even advising against marrying a Catholic. This was all due to the
Religious Cleavages. The IRA also began to try bombing Britain out of Northern Ireland. The
Northern Ireland Peace Agreement devolved the legislative powers of the Westminister to the
Northern Ireland Executive. Though this treaty was extremely beneficial, the passing of this treaty
involved, a certain amount of creative ambiguity and there were often some stretching of the truth.
Tony Blair s execution of politics isn t necessarily politically correct. HOwever, he always completes
his tasks and this deceit of his tends to greatly increase legitimacy among the United Kingdom. Many
of Blair s crucial moments in his prime ministership helped improve his image amongst the media,
whereas some events did not. Tony Blair s was very active on the international stage. Even to

We Choose To Go To The American Spirit Speech Summary
John F. Kennedy s Passionate Appeal to the American Spirit: We Choose to Go to the Moon On
September 12, 1962, John F. Kennedy gave a rhetorically sound speech at Rice University in Houston,
Texas with the intent to rally American support for his space exploration proposition. Kennedy had
proposed his plan to congress a couple months before and this speech was his call to the American
people to stand behind him. While the speech is remembered for its famous line, We choose to go to
the moon, it was a carefully constructed piece of rhetoric. Kennedy s immediate audience extends
beyond the people that were in Rice Stadium that day. His message was intended for the entire
American populace as both a way of informing the people about his plan for space exploration and ...

Kennedy utilizes a form of the known new contract towards the beginning of his speech to show the
audience where they stand in reference to history while creating a sense of urgency. In his approach to
the known new contract, Kennedy conveys where America has been and where America is going.
Kennedy first conveys America s scientific position by stating, Despite the striking fact that most of
the scientists that the world has ever known are alive and working today... the unanswered and the
unfinished still far outstrip our collective comprehension. While the first sentence could have been
worded better to express that there are more scientists active than ever before, this section of the
speech conveys that America has many unanswered questions, but it also has the scientific manpower
to answer these questions in order to make space travel a reality. As Kennedy progresses, he
condenses human history into a 50 year timespan with an emphasis on scientific advancements in
order to give the audience perspective by establishing where humankind has been. As he goes from the

The Evolution Of Management Theory
Introduction
Detailed Summary
Management theory constantly evolves when there are new ideas or when there is and intention of
attempts of transforming the theory. Hence this theory can also be called as the condensed theory To
know the history of the management theory is the fundamental task (Sarshar, 2002).
The evolution of management began after the industrial revolution had occurred in Europe and
America, which was in the end of the 19th century. During the evolution of the management theory,
there were many major changes happening, like economic, cultural and technical. The start of the
evolution of the management theory was when there was an introduction to the steam power. That was
the time when the industries were built with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Scientific management theory
The techniques of the scientific management theory were defined by Frederick W. Taylor. F W Taylor
was a manufacturing manager, but he eventually became a consultant. He introduced four principles
Principle 1: Study the way workers perform their tasks, gather all the informal jobs, knowledge that
worker possess, and experiment with ways of improving how tasks are performed.
Principle 2: Codify the new methods of performing tasks into written rules and standard operating
procedures.
Principle 3: Carefully select workers who possess skills and abilities that match the needs of the task
and train them to perform according to the established rules and procedures.
Principle 4: Establish a fair or acceptable level of performance for a tasks, and then develop a pay
system that rewards performance about the acceptable level (Jones and George, 2003).
In the 1900 s these principles were known nationally and were applied in many organisations. In some
organisations the managers choose to follow only some of the principles, which led to some problems.
After applying the principles the efficiency of the organisation increased, but instead of sharing the
profit with the workers as specified by Taylor, the managers expected the workers to work for more
hours for that same wages. After a while the workers realised that the increase in the efficiency in the

the four pieces of research selected for use in this literature review. The articles consist of two
qualitative papers, one quantitative and one mixed methods. Two papers are from the United States,
one is Australian and One is from the Republic of Ireland. No papers from the United Kingdom have
been selected due to the lack of recent research on the selected topic and inferior quality of the

Furthermore, the researches included a chaplain and a social worker in the survey, thus making the
suitability of the participants questionable, which may invalidate the results (Parahoo, 2014). The
study concluded that the majority of healthcare providers (HP S) were supportive of FWR (73%)
despite concerns regarding the behaviour of family members and concern for the emotional burden
that they associated with witnessing resuscitation. However, most participants stressed that they would
prefer a designated member of staff to accompany the witnesses during the resuscitation (Lederman
and Wacht, 2014). In contrast, a study by Bushby et al (2012), which comprised of a self completed
anonymous questionnaire of all HP s within the ED of a single Australian hospital; found that the
preponderance of staff who were opposed to FWR perceived that it would have a negative emotional
impact on the family member. Their concerns focused on the prospect of the witness developing Post
traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). However, there is a wealth of strong evidence to suggest the
contrary (Jabre et al, 2013; Hanson et al, 2005; Holzhauser et al; 2006 and Meyer et al, 2000. This
suggests that awareness of current FWR research is limited, and implies that education programmes

Debunking Skin Dermatology
When it comes to skincare and problems related to the skin, dermatologists often cringe at the
misplaced ideas people have. Some skincare tips are actually so deadly that dermatologists and other
skin specialists have to go a long way to make their patients understand the truth behind the myth. So
let s try to understand the role of dermatologists in debunking skin ailment myths. Avoid smiling,
avoid wrinkles If there s any iota of truth in that statement then all one had to do was to lead stoic,
expressionless lives. One could even save thousands of dollars by rejecting expensive face creams and
serums, botox treatment and other anti aging therapies. But actually, there is flaw in the theory itself.
While on the one hand some propose that smiling will cause wrinkles, others opine that doing facial
exercises will help in reducing sagging and crow s feet. So while some oppose the movement of facial
muscles others promote it! Dermatologists as such play an important role here in explaining to their
patients that while extensive motion of the facial muscles do cause early wrinkles it s actually not a
healthy practice to stop smiling. Smiling and laugher is a form of healthy living and hence
recommended. Facial exercises, are actually simply for neck tautness and won t actually help in
reducing or eliminating wrinkles. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As such, whether base tan or not, there is nothing like a safe tan. By being exposed to UV lights, the
body produces melanin, the pigment that gives color to skin. In this respect, the myth that dark
skinned people have lesser propensity to sun damage and skin cancer is also something dermatologists
need to debunk. For all, due to their skin tone and melanin content, damage in its initial stages is often
not visible and noticed only in advanced

William Shakespeare s The Man From Stratford On Avon
The debate of the true authorship of Shakespeare is one that has been argued for centuries. While there
are various theories to suggest that William Shakespeare, the man from Stratford on Avon was not the
true author of the plays produced within his lifetime, one theory in particular seems to hold the most
concrete evidence. The authorship theory about Edward de Vere, Seventeenth Earl of Oxford seems to
have the most historical evidence proving that he is the writer of the plays and sonnets under the
pseudonym William Shakespeare. Looking at DeVere s personal life, one can see how his social status
and access to higher education would have made it more credible for him to have written such literary
masterpieces. Various circumstances of historical fact found about de Vere s life are mirrored in the
circumstances and relationships found within the works of Shakespeare. The rich settings in which
many of the plays are set include traditional and historical details that could not have been available to
anyone who did not travel to these places themselves. Lastly many of the biblical passages and
allusions found in the work of Shakespeare are also found in the Bible that de Vere had his personal
marks. There are too many historical facts found about DeVere that coincide with the plays of
Shakespeare that cannot be brushed aside as coincidence. This essay will aim to show how these
historical facts lead to solid proof that Edward DeVere was in fact the true author of the works

The Role Of Women In Boccaccio
The Decameron is the first literary work speaking for women in Western literature and Boccaccio is
the first male writer functioning as a spokesman for women by writing this work especially for
women, defending women to have the rights of enjoying sexual pleasure, demanding the equal rights
shared by men and women both at home and in society, and requesting free love for women.
Boccaccio says Heaven would indeed be heaven if lovers were there permitted as much enjoyment as
they had experienced , earth . Boccaccio in the introduction of his story bespeaks to women:
Whenever, fairest women, I pause to consider how compassionate you all are by nature. (Boccaccio,

Tobias Foster Gittes says that: Boccaccio s ideal society is not an orgiastic colony dedicated to serving
the senses nor is it found on the upper reaches of Mount Asinaio where Filippo Balducci preaches his
austere creed of abstinence from all worldly pleasures . (Gittes,29) Marilyn Migiel asserts that:
Boccaccio provides women with the opportunity to speak their desire but the voice of female desire
appears to emerge more clearly when female desire is consistent with male desire . The centrality of
sexual difference is emphasized through the gendering of the narrators in Boccaccio s masterpiece,
which depicts how social and discursive power is divided between sexes. The fictional storytellers of
the Decameron are marked by their gender and by their express views on sexuality and sexual
difference .(Migiel,82) Migiel makes the case that the stories also Appear to open up the possibility of
the expression of female desire at the same time that they describe severe limits placed on the way in
which women can speak out .

Che Guevara In The Motorcycle Diaries
The film The Motorcycle Diaries tells the origin story of Ernesto Guevara before he became the
legendary revolutionary leader Che Guevara. I separate Che from Ernesto because it truly seems as if
Guevara s soul was shaken during the course of his journey portrayed in this film and the insight he
gained into the lives of his fellow South Americans transformed him into a completely different
person with new beliefs and goals This new person would later be known around the world as Che.
Guevara s compassion for the less fortunate was evident in his early life, in which he pursued a

Katha Upanishad Essay
In Katha Upanishad, the meaning of Death (Yama) is seen as the distinction between the good and the
gratifying, Death (Yama) is the core of what makes us human, it is a common moral compass that
directs individuals in life and what truly matters. Choosing the path of life which leads to Death
(Yama) is an individual s right while it restrains us from doing what is undesirable. Furthermore,
Death (Yama) is inevitable part of life and it affects us all regardless of religion, culture, race, sex,
nationality, or socio economic status.
In the World s Classics Upanishads Translated from the Original Sanskrit by Patrick Olivelle, Death
talks to Naciketas in chapter two about moralities as opposed to desires. Death also discusses the
implications of good or gratifying when Death stated, The good is one thing, the gratifying is quite

Jem Finch Character Development
To Kill a Mockingbird was written by Harper Lee and was published in 1960. This story occurs in the
1930 s. The story is told in first person participant as told by Scout Finch. The story takes place in
Maycomb county Alabama. There are many impotent characters who play a crucial role on the
evolution in the story.
There are six main characters who play a role in the development of the story. These six characters are
Scout Finch, Jem Finch, Atticus, Tom Robinson, Calpurnia and Boo Radley. Scout Finch is the
daughter of Atticus Finch and she is a central character. She is controlling, a genius and is a tom boy.

The expedition starts with introducing Maycomb county to the reader. Next the book introduces the
reader to the Finch family. This is when Scout, Jem and Atticus become central characters. After this
the book tells the reader about the Ewell family, they are not such good news. Around the same time
Scout, Jem and Dill (their friend) play the Boo Radley game. Conflicts arise in the story when Scout,
Jem and Dill start to annoy Boo Radley, their quiet neighbor. Action picks up when Tom Robinson
(black man) is arrested for allegedly beating Mayella Ewell (white woman). Atticus Finch is a lawyer
in town and he takes on Tom Robinson s case. To Kill a Mockingbird reaches a climax when Tom
Robinson is wrongly convicted of the crime. Atticus made the jury stay out for a while to think about
their decision. Ultimately Tom gets convicted, he tried to escape prison but he got shot by the guards.
This is a turning point in the story because a lot of people are mad at Atticus, specifically Bob Ewell.
Atticus undermined Bob s character during the trial accusing Bob of committing the crime. The falling
action consists of a false sense that things are calming down in the Maycomb community but that all
changes when Bob Ewell attacks Scout and Jem on a night near Halloween. He attacks them with a
kitchen knife. Boo Radley came to the rescue and killed Bob. During the scuffle, Jem s arm gets
broken in this ordeal. The story ends with an unexpected meeting between two characters. Bob gets
stabbed by Boo but Mr. Tate(sheriff) says that Bob fell on his own knife. Mr. Tate does this so Boo
does not need to go to court. After overhearing this conversation, Scout decides to walk Boo home and

Analysis Of Daniel Kahneman s The Surety Of Fools
Voltaire once said, Doubt is not a pleasant condition, but certainty is an absurd one. We live in a world
that is constantly changing and does not grant the certainty that people desire. But, people want the
stability of knowing what is going to happen; this is why certainty is absurd. In his essay The Surety
of Fools, Daniel Kahneman provides examples of people using a phenomenon he calls the illusion of
validity. These people strongly believe their actions cause a specific outcome, when in reality there is
statistical evidence that shows their actions have no direct correlation with the outcome. While
Kahneman argues the illusion of validity comes partially from people s tendency to make quick
decisions without fully conveying the causes, it really stems from people s fear of uncertainty from
having a lack of knowledge. Other fields of academia, such as science and economics, have admitted
that uncertainty grounds their thinking processes. Kahneman is inaccurate in neglecting to mention
that it is the fear of uncertainty that really causes the illusion of validity. Kahneman argues that the
illusion of validity comes from fast thinking because it is prone to doubt. Meaning, people naturally
think quickly because they need a reason and so they do not have time to question their explanation.
However, Kahneman neglects to mention that fast thinking roots itself in the fear of uncertainty.
Kahneman begins his essay by describing his experience in evaluating

Egypt s Influence On The World
For the past few centuries, Egypt was ruled by foreigners that distributed wealth among their peers
and made the indigenous people their subjects. During the Nineteenth century, Egypt was ruled by
Mehmet Ali and his descendants. Mehmet Ali was a general sent by the Ottoman empire to expel
Napoleon Bonaparte from Egypt. Due to the increase pressure on the Ottoman Empire by Russia from
the North, Mehmet Ali parted ways and planned to build his own empire with military strength. Since
then, the leaders of Egypt have sustain power on owning majority of vast land. The land is used for
agriculture that produces revenue to support the army of Mehmet Ali. This land was distributed among
the friends and families of the kings who ruled Egypt who strengthen throughout the century. During
the late nineteenth century to mid 20 century, the British extend their rule in Egypt. This was strategic
for the British because they built the Suez canal which gave them a shorter route to India. Controlling
the Suez Canal enabled them to control world trade which made their empire even stronger. However,
the British not only controlled the Canal but exploited land. Cotton became the second most extracted
product from Egypt that went to the mills in the United Kingdom. It wasn t until the Free officers
revolted against the British to leave and the indigenous Egyptians for the first time controlled their

Fall Of Communism Essay
v The fall of communism in Poland also inspired the fall of communism throughout Eastern Europe in
1989, in a period sometimes referred to as the Autumn of Nations (a play on the Springtime of Nations
used to describe the 1848 revolutions). Lech Walesa stated in an interview that he and the Poles lost
many battles along the way, but [they] peacefully won the war (qtd. in Morris). A similar, drawn out
process to defeat communism occurred in other Eastern Bloc countries around this time. Pope John
Paul II once said the following: Freedom is not just something to have and to use, it is something to be
fought for. One must use freedom to build with it personal life as well as the life of the nation (qtd. in
Walesa). Other nations in Eastern Europe followed this path, similar to Poland s, of fighting for
freedom (Walesa). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Australian Institute Of Health And Welfare
Like many healthcare systems around the world, Australia has a complex system in place for the
funding healthcare to meet the needs of its citizens. According to the Australian Institute of Health and
Welfare (AIHW), in 2011 12 Australia spent an estimated $140.2 billion on healthcare, accounting for
approximately 9.5% of the gross domestic product (AIHW, 2014). Australia has seen substantial
growth in the cost of healthcare over the last decade due to an aging population, increased prevalence
of chorionic conditions, changes in personal incomes, technology, and other economic trends (AIHW,

In order to fund the Medicare program, the Australian Government leverages a mixture of funding
sources such as a general tax revenue, patient payments, state level funding, and other private sources.
According to The Commonwealth Fund, the Australian Government funds 43% of all expenditure,
with other levels of government contributing 25%, out of pocket payments contributing 17%, and the
remaining 15% coming from private sources such as private healthcare coverage (2015). In order for
the Australian Government to subsidize such a healthcare program, residents of Australia bear a 2%
Medicare levy of their taxable income (Australian Tax Office, 2015).
According to Australia s Private Health Insurance Ombudsman (PHIO), in order to alleviate some of
the burden on the Australian Government, the Medicare Levy Surcharge is applied to payers who do
not have private hospital coverage and earn above a certain income level (PHIO, n.d.). The Medical
Levy Surcharge was created to encourage individuals to use the private healthcare system in order to
reduce the demand on the public Medicare system. The Medical Levy Surcharge is an income driven

If you step back into the present you may realize that most farms today are very different than that of
the past or what we would see in a painting. According to the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency)
there are more than 20,000 factory farms nationwide. This is a 30 percent increase from 2003. These
farms are industrial scale facilities where animals are treated as a product rather than a living creature.
Thousands of animals are kept in these factories resulting in disease and contamination. In the widely
acclaimed documentary Food Inc., directed by Robert Kenner, Carole Morison declared that This isn t
farming. This is just mass production like an assembly line in a factory. In fact there are so many
animals that workers cannot even process the 1.3 billion tons of waste that is produced annually. To
solve this problem, waste is piled into large open pools and sprayed onto the land resulting in health
problems for not only the workers but the people who live nearby. Rivers, streams and groundwater
may also get polluted from this process.

Essay on Women s Roles in Greek Society
The Iliad uncovers the truth behind what Greeks believed to be the role of women in society. The
Greek goddesses and the mortal women represent two sides that women had in society. The Greek
goddesses held power over the war, whereas, the mortal women are there as prizes or timé. Aphrodite
is the prime example of a goddess who held a lot of power, mainly by using manipulation, in the
Trojan War. Helen represents the quintessential idea of a woman representing timé. These two
portrayals of women in Greek society depict how people recognized women s role in society, with
Aphrodite representing a woman with power as a manipulative goddess and Helen representing a
woman who was merely timé, a prize to be obtained. Aphrodite expressed her ... Show more content

Aphrodite is a symbol of that view of women in Greek society; however, Aphrodite not only uses her
power of manipulation against men, but also against women. Aphrodite manipulates Helen in order to
serve her needs. Helen is used as an unwilling tool of Aphrodite s ambition (Allan 149). Helen is
controlled from the beginning by Aphrodite, who causes Helen to fall in love with Paris. F.J. Groten
discussed that Helen went with Paris because she was under the spell of Aphrodite; Helen was
deprived of her judgement and surrendered herself to the charms of Paris (36). In Book III, when Paris
comes back from a duel with Menelaus, Aphrodite goes to Helen to tell her to go to bed with Paris.
When Helen refuses, Aphrodite threatens her exclaiming, Cease to provoke me, lest I make thee more,
the world s aversion, than their love before; now the bright prize for which mankind engage, than, the
sad victim, of the public rage (The Iliad 105). Helen has no choice but to comply with Aphrodite s
commands because Aphrodite is telling Helen to obey or she will make all people hate her. Aphrodite
needs Helen to sleep with Paris because Aphrodite must keep Paris happy to maintain her end of the
deal, which was to give him Helen in love. She is also taunting Hera and Athena with her power and
ability to control the situation. Aphrodite brings out the manipulative trait that men see in women
during this time period. They are aware of a woman s

The Hidden Identity of Arnold Friend Essay
The Hidden Identity of Arnold Friend The world is full of people who portray themselves as someone
or something else. People usually hide their identity to obtain things that they want. It is common to
be fooled by someone s appearance. In Joyce Carol Oates s, Where Are You Going, Where Have You
Been, Arnold
Friend is an example of someone trying to trick another person into believing that he is something that
he is not. In the story, a girl named Connie is confronted by a man who is trying to persuade her to
take a ride with him in his car. She had seen this man the night before staring at her in the drive in so
she was a little scared that this man was now on her doorstep, not to mention she was alone. He began

the reader to believe that he is covering demonic physical traits with a fake human disposition.
Secondly, Arnold Friend knows an excessive amount of information about Connie, her friends and
family. There is no human that can stare off into the distance and know what someone else is doing at

God would not be threatening a 15 year old girl. Also, Arnold Friend seems to know a lot about
Connie. He says, I know who you were with last night, and your best girlfriend s name is Betty right

counselors play a tremendous role in the life of their student and is very important for us, school
counselors to be aware of our role in the students life. We play a big role in their development of
different areas such as personal development, career/academic development, and social development.
Therefore, what guide me to this career is that I want to be able to advocate for my students, and to

my site supervisor different types of reason why she wants to stay here in NYC, I decided to be quiet
and just to listen to what the student had t say. Later on during our one to one session I asked her why
she said all this, when previously she had explained her interest on studying in a different state. The
student stated that even though she would like to have the opportunity to study in other State, she

The Tension between Argentina and Britian
Argentina and Britain have always had mild tension between them almost since the the independence
of Argentina, this main cause of tension has always been over the sovereignty of the Falkland Islands.
Britain first claimed sovereignty of the Islands in 1765 alongside France around approximately the
same time, however France transferred it s settlements to Spain in 1767. Britain left their settlement
on the Island in 1774 but claimed they never relinquished sovereignty. Spain also abandoned their
settlement later in 1811. (BBC News , 2013)
In 1820 an Argentine merchant, Luis Vernet, tried to established commercial settlements on the
islands. These settlements were not officially claimed by Argentina until 1828, when Luis Vernet
submitted his proposal for official recognition of his commercial settlement on Malvinas to become an
Argentine colony. The Argentine government, shortly after receiving the proposal, declared their claim
to the islands. (Lorton, 2012)
In 1833 the first conflict between Britain and Argentina occurred in regards to the islands. Britain had
returned to islands to expel the Argentine garrison, the British removed the Argentine flag flying on
the island and sent it back with their men to the mainland with a message, the British had found, a
foreign flag in the territory of His Majesty. (Lorton, 2012, p.g 151). The Argentine settlers on the
Island were allowed to remain alsong as the accepted British rule, however most settlers left gradually

Realist Fiction As Realistic Fiction
Genre Why:
The novel is classified as Realistic Fiction because the events of the novel could take place in real life.
Text Evidence:
On page 5, the author provides a detailed, realistic setting told by the protagonist s point of view That
summer, let s see, I m still living under the basement, my own private down under, in the little room
Grim built for me there. Glued up this cheap paneling, right? It sort of buckles away from the concrete
cellar walls, a regular ripple effect, but do I complain about the crummy paneling, or the rug that
smells like old tide? I do not. (Philbrick, 5) The readers can also infer about the character through their
dialect, and in this case, the protagonist seems to be observant of their surroundings and is mostly
likely still in school.
In a family conflict on page 89, it shows conflict seen through the protagonist s eyes. ....this shouting
starts upstairs, Understand, Grim never yells at Gram, not that I can ever remember, and Gram, well,
the worst thing she ever does is cry when she s mad. But somebody else sure is yelling up there, and
so I sneak up the stairs and I don t even have to put my ear to the door, that s how loud it is. Through
the protagonist, we see the situation realistically and vividly and how this is affects certain people.
This is described vividly that it feels like we are experiencing what the protagonist is experiencing.

All Falls Down By Kanye West
Today many people feel compelled to buy anything or everything with an expensive price tag. This
includes Expensive designer clothes, latest gadgets, expensive vehicles and many other similar things.
This form of consumerism has embedded itself in today s society; where it s encouraged to invest in
such materialistic possessions. Kanye West is an African American rapper, producer, and entrepreneur,
who articulates his struggle with consumerism and the struggle for those around him in his song All
Falls Down. West, utilizes puns, rhyme, and juxtaposition to highlight the issues surrounding
materialism that can be interpreted differently by different listeners such as African Americans and
White Americans.
In the first verse, West introduces a woman who has her problems with materialism. To elaborate on
her condition, Kanye uses a pun by stating:
She s so precious with the peer pressure,
Couldn t afford a car, so she named her daughter Alexis.

How Do Genre Films Reflect Reality
Hi Loc,
I agree with you that genre films do reflect reality. If the films do not have any emotional connections
with the audiences, it could be difficult to understand specific characters or situations in the movies. I
like how you brought up horror movies as an example and agree that horror movies would be based on
the real scared moments from the real life. I understand that many parts of the teen movies are
exaggerated, but people feel it could happen in reality because many of the stories actually happen in
their high school life. Every time I watch some exaggerated situations, such as playing the music and
dancing in the middle of the hallway at school as you mentioned, I feel like it will not happen in
reality but how the student are doing in movies is funny. I also think that the reason why many people
like watching high school movies is because they might feel great empathy for various situations in
the movies.

Pros And Basics Of BUI
All U.S. states have laws against using alcohol and drugs while operating a boat or any other
watercraft. In addition, the U.S. Coast Guard oversees federal laws against drinking on a boat and
arrests people for boating under the influence, or BUI. Conviction of a BUI crime is a serious offense,
and it can result in jail time, large monetary fines, suspension of boating and driver s licenses, and
increases in auto and boat insurance premiums.
Increases in BUI Arrests Laws against BUI have been enacted across the country, because operating a
boat while intoxicated leads to accidents, deaths, and property damage. The Coast Guard tracks
statistics regarding boating accidents and reported 4,158 accidents and 626 deaths ... Show more

States without formal marine law enforcement orders may also set up BUI checkpoints for questioning
and inspecting boat operators and passengers for intoxication while boating. BUI checkpoints operate
in much the same way as roadside DUI checkpoints, and this type of enforcement is leading to an
increasing number of BUI arrests and convictions. [5].
Basics of BUI Charges The crime of boating under the influence is defined in most states as operating
any form of watercraft on a body of water with a blood alcohol content of .08 percent or above. A few
states define a BUI charge as having a blood alcohol content of .1 percent or above.
In some states it is an additional crime if there is a minor onboard the boat, especially if the minor has
a blood alcohol level above .01 percent.
Elements of BUI Charges A person can be convicted of a BUI offense when they are operating any
watercraft and are intoxicated to any significant degree by alcohol, drugs, or both.
In most cases, this involves a blood alcohol level of .08 percent or higher for recreational vessels and
.04 percent of higher for commercial vessels.
The crime of BUI applies to all forms of watercraft, including sailboats, speedboats, yachts, fishing
boats, jet skis, and commercial vessels.

Photosynthesis And Cellular Respiration. Photosynthesis
Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration
Photosynthesis and respiration are reactions that complement each other in the environment. In reality,
they are the same reactions, but they occur in reverse. During photosynthesis, carbon dioxide and
water yield glucose and oxygen. Through the respiration process, glucose and oxygen yield carbon
dioxide and water. They work well because living organisms supply plants with carbon dioxide, which
undergoes photosynthesis and produces glucose, and these plants and bacteria give out oxygen, which
all living organisms need for respiration.
Photosynthesis and respiration can be illustrated as follows:
Photosynthesis
Carbon Dioxide

During photosynthesis, glucose is produced from converted sunlight energy by plants. In general, the
more light, the faster the rate of photosynthesis. However, research many years ago demonstrated that
increased light intensity only increased the rate of photosynthesis up to a certain point. Therefore, the
relationship of photosynthesis and cellular respiration is nonlinear (Biggs, Edison, Eastin, Brown,
Maranville, Clegg, 1971).

We also assumed that the benefits of laminate technology will only be felt starting in 1981. With 1980 as the base year, the NPV calculation was done as at December, 1980 and we assumed that the cash injection of $2.5million dollars would occur instantaneously in December 1980. Kennedy gave a rhetorically sound speech at Rice University in Houston, Texas with the intent to rally American support for his space exploration proposition. Kennedy had proposed his plan to congress a couple months before and this speech was his call to the American people to stand behind him. While the speech is remembered for its famous line, We choose to go to the moon, it was a carefully constructed piece of rhetoric. Kennedy utilizes a form of the known new contract towards the beginning of his speech to show the audience where they stand in reference to history while creating a sense of urgency. In his approach to the known new contract, Kennedy conveys where America has been and where America is going. Kennedy first conveys America s scientific position by stating, Despite the striking fact that most of the scientists that the world has ever known are alive and working today... the unanswered and the unfinished still far outstrip our collective comprehension. While the first sentence could have been worded better to express that there are more scientists active than ever before, this section of the speech conveys that America has many unanswered questions, but it also has the scientific manpower to answer these questions in order to make space travel a reality. As Kennedy progresses, he condenses human history into a 50 year timespan with an emphasis on scientific advancements in order to give the audience perspective by establishing where humankind has been. Principle 2: Codify the new methods of performing tasks into written rules and standard operating procedures. Principle 4: Establish a fair or acceptable level of performance for a tasks, and then develop a pay system that rewards performance about the acceptable level (Jones and George, 2003). In the 1900 s these principles were known nationally and were applied in many organisations. The study concluded that the majority of healthcare providers (HP S) were supportive of FWR (73%) despite concerns regarding the behaviour of family members and concern for the emotional burden that they associated with witnessing resuscitation. However, most participants stressed that they would prefer a designated member of staff to accompany the witnesses during the resuscitation (Lederman and Wacht, 2014). In contrast, a study by Bushby et al (2012), which comprised of a self completed anonymous questionnaire of all HP s within the ED of a single Australian hospital; found that the preponderance of staff who were opposed to FWR perceived that it would have a negative emotional impact on the family member. Their concerns focused on the prospect of the witness developing Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). However, there is a wealth of strong evidence to suggest the contrary (Jabre et al, 2013; Hanson et al, 2005; Holzhauser et al; 2006 and Meyer et al, 2000. Some skincare tips are actually so deadly that dermatologists and other skin specialists have to go a long way to make their patients understand the truth behind the myth. So let s try to understand the role of dermatologists in debunking skin ailment myths. Avoid smiling, avoid wrinkles If there s any iota of truth in that statement then all one had to do was to lead stoic, expressionless lives. One could even save thousands of dollars by rejecting expensive face creams and serums, botox treatment and other anti aging therapies. But actually, there is flaw in the theory itself. While on the one hand some propose that smiling will cause wrinkles, others opine that doing facial exercises will help in reducing sagging and crow s feet. So while some oppose the movement of facial muscles others promote it! Dermatologists as such play an important role here in explaining to their patients that while extensive motion of the facial muscles do cause early wrinkles it s actually not a healthy practice to stop smiling. • 9. William Shakespeare s The Man From Stratford On Avon The debate of the true authorship of Shakespeare is one that has been argued for centuries. While there are various theories to suggest that William Shakespeare, the man from Stratford on Avon was not the true author of the plays produced within his lifetime, one theory in particular seems to hold the most concrete evidence. The authorship theory about Edward de Vere, Seventeenth Earl of Oxford seems to have the most historical evidence proving that he is the writer of the plays and sonnets under the pseudonym William Shakespeare. Looking at DeVere s personal life, one can see how his social status and access to higher education would have made it more credible for him to have written such literary masterpieces. Various circumstances of historical fact found about de Vere s life are mirrored in the circumstances and relationships found within the works of Shakespeare. The rich settings in which many of the plays are set include traditional and historical details that could not have been available to anyone who did not travel to these places themselves. Lastly many of the biblical passages and allusions found in the work of Shakespeare are also found in the Bible that de Vere had his personal marks. There are too many historical facts found about DeVere that coincide with the plays of Shakespeare that cannot be brushed aside as coincidence. • 14. Analysis Of Daniel Kahneman s The Surety Of Fools Voltaire once said, Doubt is not a pleasant condition, but certainty is an absurd one. We live in a world that is constantly changing and does not grant the certainty that people desire. But, people want the stability of knowing what is going to happen; this is why certainty is absurd. In his essay The Surety of Fools, Daniel Kahneman provides examples of people using a phenomenon he calls the illusion of validity. These people strongly believe their actions cause a specific outcome, when in reality there is statistical evidence that shows their actions have no direct correlation with the outcome. While Kahneman argues the illusion of validity comes partially from people s tendency to make quick decisions without fully conveying the causes, it really stems from people s fear of uncertainty from having a lack of knowledge. Other fields of academia, such as science and economics, have admitted that uncertainty grounds their thinking processes. Kahneman is inaccurate in neglecting to mention that it is the fear of uncertainty that really causes the illusion of validity. Kahneman argues that the illusion of validity comes from fast thinking because it is prone to doubt. Meaning, people naturally think quickly because they need a reason and so they do not have time to question their explanation. However, Kahneman neglects to mention that fast thinking roots itself in the fear of uncertainty. Kahneman begins his essay by describing his experience in evaluating ... Helen is controlled from the beginning by Aphrodite, who causes Helen to fall in love with Paris. F.J. Groten discussed that Helen went with Paris because she was under the spell of Aphrodite; Helen was deprived of her judgement and surrendered herself to the charms of Paris (36). In Book III, when Paris comes back from a duel with Menelaus, Aphrodite goes to Helen to tell her to go to bed with Paris. When Helen refuses, Aphrodite threatens her exclaiming, Cease to provoke me, lest I make thee more, the world s aversion, than their love before; now the bright prize for which mankind engage, than, the sad victim, of the public rage (The Iliad 105). While she was giving my site supervisor different types of reason why she wants to stay here in NYC, I decided to be quiet and just to listen to what the student had t say. Later on during our one to one session I asked her why she said all this, when previously she had explained her interest on studying in a different state. The student stated that even though she would like to have the opportunity to study in other State, she doesn t want to do this because there was a time when she had to go to Mexico because her mother couldn t take care of her, therefore she went to live ... Still the foreshadowing of death and turmoil looms but this was also a lot of writing styles during this time. Their trip continues as planned with the grandmother telling stories to the family, unsuccessfully communicating with the other adults in the vehicle. The children seem to be the only participants in the grandmother s tales. The readers are introduced to another glimpse of turmoil when O Connor writes, the trees were full of silver white sunlight, and the meanest of them sparkled. These settlements were not officially claimed by Argentina until 1828, when Luis Vernet submitted his proposal for official recognition of his commercial settlement on Malvinas to become an Argentine colony. The Argentine government, shortly after receiving the proposal, declared their claim to the islands. (Lorton, 2012) In 1833 the first conflict between Britain and Argentina occurred in regards to the islands. Britain had returned to islands to expel the Argentine garrison, the British removed the Argentine flag flying on the island and sent it back with their men to the mainland with a message, the British had found, a foreign flag in the territory of His Majesty. • 31. Realist Fiction As Realistic Fiction Genre Why: The novel is classified as Realistic Fiction because the events of the novel could take place in real life. Text Evidence: On page 5, the author provides a detailed, realistic setting told by the protagonist s point of view That summer, let s see, I m still living under the basement, my own private down under, in the little room Grim built for me there. Glued up this cheap paneling, right? It sort of buckles away from the concrete cellar walls, a regular ripple effect, but do I complain about the crummy paneling, or the rug that smells like old tide? I do not. (Philbrick, 5) The readers can also infer about the character through their dialect, and in this case, the protagonist seems to be observant of their surroundings and is mostly likely still in school. In a family conflict on page 89, it shows conflict seen through the protagonist s eyes. ....this shouting starts upstairs, Understand, Grim never yells at Gram, not that I can ever remember, and Gram, well, the worst thing she ever does is cry when she s mad. But somebody else sure is yelling up there, and so I sneak up the stairs and I don t even have to put my ear to the door, that s how loud it is. Through the protagonist, we see the situation realistically and vividly and how this is affects certain people. This is described vividly that it feels like we are experiencing what the protagonist is experiencing. 2. What can you infer about the author based on the novel? Inference: I can infer that ... If the films do not have any emotional connections with the audiences, it could be difficult to understand specific characters or situations in the movies. I like how you brought up horror movies as an example and agree that horror movies would be based on the real scared moments from the real life. I understand that many parts of the teen movies are exaggerated, but people feel it could happen in reality because many of the stories actually happen in their high school life. Every time I watch some exaggerated situations, such as playing the music and dancing in the middle of the hallway at school as you mentioned, I feel like it will not happen in reality but how the student are doing in movies is funny. I also think that the reason why many people like watching high school movies is because they might feel great empathy for various situations in the movies. In addition, the U.S. Coast Guard oversees federal laws against drinking on a boat and arrests people for boating under the influence, or BUI. Conviction of a BUI crime is a serious offense, and it can result in jail time, large monetary fines, suspension of boating and driver s licenses, and increases in auto and boat insurance premiums. • 36. Photosynthesis And Cellular Respiration. Photosynthesis Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration Photosynthesis and respiration are reactions that complement each other in the environment. In reality, they are the same reactions, but they occur in reverse. During photosynthesis, carbon dioxide and water yield glucose and oxygen. Through the respiration process, glucose and oxygen yield carbon dioxide and water. They work well because living organisms supply plants with carbon dioxide, which undergoes photosynthesis and produces glucose, and these plants and bacteria give out oxygen, which all living organisms need for respiration. Photosynthesis and respiration can be illustrated as follows: Photosynthesis Carbon Dioxide (CO2) + Water (6H2O) + Light energy Glucose (C6H12O6) + ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During photosynthesis, glucose is produced from converted sunlight energy by plants. In general, the more light, the faster the rate of photosynthesis. However, research many years ago demonstrated that increased light intensity only increased the rate of photosynthesis up to a certain point. Therefore, the relationship of photosynthesis and cellular respiration is nonlinear (Biggs, Edison, Eastin, Brown, Maranville, Clegg, 1971).
