The National Holiday Of Columbus Day Should Not Become A...
The national holiday of Columbus Day should never have become a recognized Federal holiday.
Christopher Columbus did not actually discover the Americas. There were millions of
indigenous people already living in the location that he was exploring. It is true he was an
explorer trying to find his way to the riches of the Indies and mapping his way for Spain and
Europe however, how is it a discovery when people are already living on the land? He didn t even
make it to the location he was originally trying to reach. He was also a brutal man that enslaved
the people living on the land he discovered .
We as a people enjoy having our holidays off and it has been a recognized holiday since enacted
by Franklin D. Roosevelt. It was celebrated in some aspect or another hundreds of years before
then. We are celebrating a figure that has been romanticized about for so long even though the
truth of the man is a very different story. If we dig further into the truth we will discover that it
really makes no sense to why we have a day to celebrate this man. As a nation we may want to
reconsider either a different celebration of this day or removing the holiday completely.
According to the Library of Congress the first recorded celebration of Columbus Day in the United
States took place on October 12, 1792, for the 300th anniversary of his arriving to America. At the
400th anniversary it was recommended by President Harrison that the United States observe the day
as a holiday. Then the

Why I Am An Algonquin Tribe Leader
I am an Algonquin Tribe Leader, I have been asked who I am going to side with and I picked the
French this war is going take take place in the mid 1700s and we are living in places near the
great lakes. I chose the french because we have had a very good relationship with them, we have
traded them all kinds of beaver pelts, furs, for weapons, tools, pots, and, pans. Overall the French
has helped us advance in technology and our tribe drastically. They have also been very friendly
to our tribe. We should join the French and I have reasons for this. First off why would we ally
with the people that are expanding their land once they win the war, they could just fight us and
expand into our territory. Also the French have trade with us and been

The Cold Side Of The Government And All Their Big Cover Ups
There are many mysteries in this world and one of the big ones is the government and all their
big cover ups. The government has many secrets that many people are absolutely clueless about
what the government is doing with all of our money while doing illegal things that a treaty even
said you cannot do. At this moment, too many people that live in our country think the
government is straight up with everything and they don t lie to us at all. The number one reason
of that is many people are still on their feet because of the government and what they do for the
people . The cold hard truth is they lie and don t tell us anything. They may seem like nice people
on the outside and what they say to believe in but just look them up on the... Show more content on

So, the government has been hiding and secretly doing many things and has yet to tell us and these
few are little compared to what they have done to us. They have been flying around the world with
a reusable unmanned spacecraft, used for many things other than flying, the nasty CIA and what
they have been working on since the start of the Cold War, and finally the USA s new and
definitely improved rail gun that can take down ships in a snap, and what it actually is.
First, the government is stabbing us in the back because they are going to end the world
someday by the looks of the killing spacecraft. Some people may think that it is just for testing
and they are not sure what they will actually do with the spacecraft. Lots of evidence points out
that the USA is making a deadly weapon that has the power to easily take out underground
bunkers and whole cities in fact. First, we start it off when the USA started making the plane and
nobody knew about it. It was just another one of the government experiments that can be deadly
in a heartbeat. Now, many people may call me crazy but, it is the scary truth. There is a satellite
in orbit as we speak and the purpose of it is truly scary. What the purpose of it and this is the scary
and devastating part is video games are truly telling the future. That might not sound scary yet, but
the whole thing is the whole

Key Enterprise Tech Trends For 2015 And Beyond By Eric Knorr
1.Introduction 2.Questions 2.1.Using the 9 key enterprise tech trends for 2015 and beyond by
Eric Knorr, select, rank and compare your top five trends. Discuss the reasons for your ranking?
The below listed topics are ranked and compared accordingly to the argument of innovation and
global need. The given reasons generate reasonable understanding of the trends and their
importance in enterprise systems: 1.The triumph of the public cloud I ranked this trend first
because I believe it is one of the most advanced and talked about topic in tech world in present
year. This controversial topic is creating buzz all over the world. With advancement of
technology, various tech companies have increased their effort to provide a free cloud storage
system. Eric Knorr also listed this topic as a number one tech trend in his list. I believe this topic
itself is one of the major challenges for public and private companies in term to provide certain
product which not only is hard to maintain as well as complex and costly to generate. IT
Companies can shift their fundamental competitive landscape by fabricating a new platform
which will help to create and deliver values businesses have to its stakeholders (IBM, 2012). The
cloud based storage can be used by companies to generate Enterprise data which can be used as
various decision making and evaluation tools. (Stair and Reynolds, n.d.) 2.Liquid Computing: Eric
Knorr listed this trend number four in his article but I believe

Ngo Dinh Diem And The Vietnam War Essay
This is why, the U.S started to back up and support Ngo Dinh Diem, an anti communist politician,
who strongly disagreed with the rebellion of old Vietnamese. In 1955, Diem managed to be the
leader of the South Vietnamese government, declaring the Republic of Vietnam and cancelling the
scheduled elections in 1956. However, his governance proved to be very unpopular, demonstrating
corruption and persecution.
In general, his policies were created to eliminate communists from South Vietnam, which he
referred to as Viet Cong , but resulted in an increase of sympathy for these communists and led
them to form the National Liberation Front (NLF), as a representative of a united front, recognized
and sanctioned officially also by the North ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Kissinger as his national security counsel. Kissinger considered Vietnam as a mistake, so he
recommended the U.S. disengagement. Taking in consideration Kissinger s advice, Nixon started
to gradually pull back a lot of American soldiers from Vietnam and return the control of the war
toward the South Vietnamese ARVN, while continuing to supply and prepare for the war the ARVN.
Despite the fact that Nixon continued to diminish American troop strength in South Vietnam, the
battling proceeded. In 1972, South Vietnam faced a massive invasion by the North Vietnamese, but
still managed to prevail with U.S. airpower assistance. In January 1973, were signed the Paris
Peace Accords, under which the U.S. forces were completely withdrawn from Vietnam. However,
this did not put the war to an end, because the war continued until April 1975, when Saigon fell to
the communists.
If we would be deciding who deserves to blame for the wars, the first things we need to do, is to
analyze the reason why each of these countries involved joined this war. The people of Vietnamese
started these war, aiming for their independence; firstly from French, than Japan and then again
from France. From this point forward, some of them continued the war to joint their two nations,
while others we fighting against communism.
As for France, it joined the war aiming to retain its colonial power, while Japan was endeavoring to
conquer the world. The United

A brave group of young men and women, black and white...
A brave group of young men and women, black and white alike traveled through the south to
support black rights (Adamson 39 70). Contributors did not use violence or fight to make a
difference (Adamson 39 70). They simply avoided the hate and anger they somehow held inside.
Riders traveled through many states, carrying with them a motive, which they were on this ride.
Blacks had rights too. The patriotic group the Freedom Riders traveled non stop towards the south
to fight for African Americans. Men and women left knowing they might not come back to their
families. There was thirteen riders total on the bus. There were seven blacks and 6 whites. Some
riders left wills and letters behind for their loved ones (McHhorter 61 66). Black... Show more

First stop was in North Carolina. There was no violence from North Carolina to Virginia (Adamson

a hospital, for their injuries, members switched to two different busses for safety (Adamson 39

Anniston and Birmingham, Alabama. The Anniston attack would slow young contributors bus

riders lives on forever. Imagine, traveling through the most racial violent state when you were
fighting for black rights. Burmingham and Anniston, Alabama was more violent out of all the
cities. The biggest attacks and the most violence happened there (Stoper). In Anniston, Alabama
members were attacked in the most violent ways ever imagined (Stoper). Buses tires were
slashed, they were even trapped in the bus. White attackers threw a bomb in the bus with hopes
the riders would be burned alive (Stoper). Participants barely escaped with their lives when they
crawled out the back of the bus at the last second (Stoper). When finally out of the bus, they were
almost beaten by the white mob. One of members was beaten so badly he was crippled for life

Lord of the Flies by William Golding and the Philosophy of...
Rousseau and Golding are both philosophers and are both known for different similar topics.
Rousseau is known for his first book, A Discourse on the Sciences and Arts, about his
philosophies saying that man is good. Golding is known for his bestselling novel he ever wrote,
Lord of The Flies, also expressing his philosophies saying that man is evil. Rousseau and Golding
have many contrasts that fight against each other s philosophies but was never spoken to each
other because they lived in different time periods. My view on the spirit of a humanwithout order is
that humans are all good even though some don t show it. Jean Jacques Rousseaus philosophies
were published in 1762 to explain the good of man. His philosophies explained reasoning is what
causes societies to corrupt the good of man and humans are just naturally good by themselves.
Also Rousseau s beliefs show that humans are good physically and mentally also believes, modern
man s enslavement to his own needs was responsible for all sorts of societal ills, http:/

ideas of modern philosophies saying that if humans didn t have a governments or societies, what
would their natural characteristics be and saying those characteristics are permanent and would
never change. So Rousseau took this philosophy and added on to it saying humans are good
naturally so the characteristic of being good is permanent and will never

Harry And Strange Logic Of Book Discounters
1.Harry and Strange Logic of Book Discounters Harry Potter books sold out immediately on
multiple discount offers from different bookshop. There was lot of book shops which were
selling the book on cheaper and discounted prices. They went on with this offer since a lot of
people were coming to buy that book and they will sell it on margin prices, the prices were
competitive and the number of copies sold in millions. On the launch of this book the book
sellers gave out 40 percent discount, since the author was known and had a lot of fan following.
Even the independent book sellers were selling this book with additional services. They didn t
drop down the price for the book but instead gave a few added services to their customers. Books
stores usually know the best sellers and they are well familiar with the fan following of the
different authors. They devise out a strategy which covers all their expenses and sell the book on
a price where they still get away making profit. 2.Variable price coke machines being tested The

the price, technological problems can make the machine sense wrong. 3.Top artist

Permissive parents watch their children less closely and are more free with their child s actions
(Rathus, p.288). Both of my parents have always been very loving and given me everything I

Carefully, so as not to get their wings wet, they took it in turns to wash. They leaned back in the
water as they wiggled their bums. When it was Hop s turn, he farted in the water. The bubbles rose
to the surface. And popped. They were popping farts that smelt of sherry!
They dried their bottoms on a pile of makeup remover pads. Honesty inspected all the jars on the

they were too hard, so they used fresh peas instead.
They now had all the tools to make a home made catapult.
Cym stood to the side and gave orders. Honesty and Bedstraw held on to the fork. Pignut picked up

The spider stealthily approached the fly caught in his web. Nothing prepared him for the pea as it

They zapped him with a spoonful of mashed potato. Splat! Crushed to death!

Animal Abuse And Neglect
Animal abuse is defined as either the physical mistreatment of an animal or neglect where the
animal is denied basic necessities of care. The mistreatment of animals is a serious issue within
society. It often goes unreported because many people believe it is only abuse if it is intentional.
This lack of understanding allows minor cases of neglect to progress into major cases that can
end in the death of the animals involved. Animal abuse needs a better definition due to the results
of neglect, psychological issues, and ethical components. Many cases of animal abuse are
unintentional ones. These are cases of neglect. Animal neglect is when an animal is being denied
one of its basic necessities to live. Neglect often comes from a place of... Show more content on

There are two basic causes to most mental disorders, genetics and environmental factors. Neglect
can end up being the environmental factor that causes an animal to develop a mental or
behavioral disorder. Now is when the question arises, do animals even have the capacity to
develop mental illnesses? Well, according to numerous veterinarians and scientists, the answer
to that is a resounding yes. Many vets are diagnosing animals with depression and giving dogs
with separation anxiety xanax prescriptions, and it is working. These animals who are being
diagnosed and treated for their mental illnesses are making complete 180 degree turns towards
being healthy and happy again. So the negative effects that neglect has on the health of animals
is real. If the animals are not catching diseases from unkempt pens, they are developing mental
illnesses from the isolation of being alone in a cage all day. While the unintentional abuse of
animals is sad and disheartening, the intentional abuse of animals is downright infuriating for
most. The intentional abuse of animals is defined as an intentional infliction of harm or suffering
on an animal. An example of this would be when the weird kid down the road hangs his neighbor
s cat from a tree by its back foot and beats it with a baseball bat. This form of abuse comes from a
completely different place than its counterpart. While unintentional abuse comes from a place of
ignorance, this form comes from a

Compare And Contrast Gluckicose And Hexokinase
Hexokinase and glucokinase are similar enzymes found in different parts of the body. These
enzymes are used to regulate glucose levels in the blood. Glucose is the only nutrient which feed
the brain, making fundamental in a diet. Glucose is derived from carbohydrates, and carbohydrates
are the main source of nutrients. Once, carbohydrates are broken down into single molecules of
glucose. Hexokinase and glucokinase assists in the metabolismof glucose through a process known
as glycolysis. Glycolysis is a multiple step process which converts glucose into ATP or stores it as
triglycerides. Therefore, hyporcaloric people require energy, causing the cycle to proceed in
ATP pathway. Triglycerides are created when the person has excessive calories available. Once
glucose enters the body, it begins to fill the requirements of the body. For Example, the first
tissue to get filled is the brain, the second is the muscle, and if there is glucose still available in
the blood, then it enters the liver. Hexokinase and glucokinase have the same function, but they
react differently with in the body. Hexokinase and glucokinase work together to make glucose
functional for the body. Glucose is either used for energy or stored for later used. Hexokinase is
found in most cells, and allows glucose to enter at lower concentrations. This enzyme will
proceed into ATP production if the cells are hypocaloric or low in energy. On the other hand, if
cells are hypercaloric, glucose will be stored as

Two Negative Impacts Of Transnational Corporations On...
Explain TWO negative impacts of transnational corporations on developing countries.
Introduction
The purpose of this report is to explain why the impacts of transnational corporations on
developing countries are important to understand. Transnational corporations are large companies
that have a head office in one country and subsidiary offices in other countries. They affect all
countries; however, they affect developing countries on a much larger and damaging level. This is
because developing countries are poorer, many people have a lower standard of living, and the
resources available and the amount to hire an employee is significantly lower that one of a
developed country. The two negative impacts caused by transnational corporations that will be
discussed in this report are sweatshops and life expectancy. These impacts are important to
understand because they educate us on how the world of trade is influenced by sweatshops, and
how sweatshops effect an individual s life.
Globalisation
The impacts of globalisation are happening around us every day, with or without us realising it.
Globalisation is the breakdown of traditional barriers between nations, and a trend towards faster
and cheaper movement around the world of people, goods, money and information.
As shown in the figure, many different factors are impacted and impact globalisation. Economic
globalisation consists of the growth and development of international trade. This is the process of

Essay on The Life and Role of Wacs During WWII
In a 1944 magazine article, Eleanor Roosevelt claimed that American women are serving actively
in many ways in this war [World War II], and they are doing a grand job on both the fighting front
and the home front. 1 While many women did indeed join the workforce in the 1940s, the extent
and effects of their involvement were as contested during that time as they are today. Eleanor
Roosevelt was correct, however, in her evaluation of the women who served on the fighting front.
Although small in number due to inadequate recruitment, the women who left behind their homes
and loved ones in order to enlist in the newly established Women s Auxiliary Army Corp (WAAC),
and later the Women s Army Corps (WAC), were deemed invaluable to the war

These jobs were no different than those which the women held at home, except now they would
be required to leave their homes, wear unappealing uniforms, and follow stringent rules.7
Despite these setbacks in recruitment, many dedicated women, out of a sense of patriotism,
signed up to serve their country. Although the Wacs were initially intended to free soldiers from
desk jobs, they soon became efficient, multipurpose workers.8 The staff director from the
European theater, Lt. Col. Anna W. Wilson, said that Wacs are soldiers. Like all soldiers, they
are used for whatever work they are nest qualified to do. Most of these girls came over as plain
secretaries and file clerks. Today, they are doing a thousand and one different jobs, and new
fields are opening up every day. 9 Lieutenant Wilson was correct in saying that Wacs did a variety
of jobs. As the Wacs in Europe demonstrated their value to the war effort, they were coined
Eisenhower s secret weapon. 10 In January 1944 it was determined that women held 239 different
jobs in the Army.11 The next largest group after secretaries was the technical and professional
workers; these women were everything from interpreters in North Africa to meteorologists,

Genealogy Of Morals By Nietzsche
Section 14 in Essay 2 of Nietzsche s Genealogy of Morals , contains rich insight, mainly about
punishment. Punishment is suppose to be the way to awaken the feeling of guilt in someone that
has done some wrong. However, punishment does not succeed in instilling bad conscience, or the
sense of guilt, on the guilty person. When someone is punished, they do not receive a feelingof guilt
. It can lead to two opposite things; either they are are able to become stronger and tougher and take
the punishment, or they have their vitality destroyed and become dehumanized. Nietzsche suggests
that when the person who is guilty sees the person that he wronged cast these acts of punishment on
him out of pleasure, he is blinded by the awful things that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

physical discipline they received did not make them feel guilty about what they did. Instead, it

The Influence Of Thomas Jefferson s Monticello In...
Thomas Jefferson designed his home the Monticello in Charlottesville, Virginia. The house is a
Neoclassical structure made out of brick, glass, stone, and wood. As the father of the American
Revolution, his ideas were inspired by the classical antiquity he saw during his travels to Europe
and so the house s structure was based on the movement seeking to reinvent classical ideas.
Jefferson viewed art as a powerful tool, believing it could provoke social change, inspire the
public to seek education, and develop a general sense of the Enlightenment to the American public.
Jefferson believed scale and public nature of architecture had the ability to fulfill the aspirations of
a skilled orator, by having the ability to Teach, to Delight, and To Move. When Jefferson began
designing his home he strayed away from the typical Wren Baroque architecture common in

domestic financial sector liberalization. However, the political causes and consequences of
economic liberalization have received less attention [Abiad2005]. Few theoretical work addresses
whether an increase in financial liberalization leads to democratic transition [Milner2009, p175], or
why large scale policy changes regarding capital account liberalization took place in developing
countries in 1990s [Cohen1996]. My research project addresses this gap in the literature. Using both
formal theory and quantitative methods, I develop and test a unified theory that investigates the
short run and long run political effects of international financial liberalization, and explains the
causes, timing, speed, magnitude of liberalization.
The current research proposal is focused on completing this project, which began as a dissertation

Essay on Whispering in the Giants Ear by William Powers
Williams Powers, an ecotourist activist wrote in his book, Whispering in the Giants Ear, That
which we allow to exist, to flourish freely according to its own rhythms, is superior to anything our
little hands create. Ecotourism is defined as responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the
environment and improves the well being of local people.
Economical Impact Ecotourism plays a vital role in a nations economy. Many factors entail whether
a country can be successful economically. Ecotourism has thrived and failed, depending on how it
was operated. Once a country accepts money from their government to begin ecotourism, they will
be forever in debt. When the governments fronts the money, the government is in control. ... Show

This was concerning to the government, but unlike the Philippines, the Costa Rican government
agreed with the locals to invest and trust in ecotourism for a decade. After nine years, in 1973,
Costa Rica had broke even. In 1974 they made over ten million. Ever since 1974, profits had
come in exponentially. From 1974 to 1994 over six hundred million was brought in. In 1999 for
the first time in Costa Rican history over one million ecotourists came to Costa Rica. They brought
in over one billion in revenue. Many speculate that the Philippines were on the same track, but the
lack of communication between the government and people proved catastrophic. Costa Rica is
known as the focal point for ecotourism worldwide.
Ecotourism began in Costa Rica in the 1970 s. It was very small and began to grow
exponentially in the late 1980 s. In 1970 Costa Rica had a GNP, gross national product of 1000
million in 1995 that number nonuple to 9000 million. Many consider 1978 the first year
ecotourism began in Costa Rica. At that time, Costa Rica had a GNP/capita of 1500. After the
ecotourism boom, the number ballooned to 2000 in 1992. It is evident by the 33% increase in GNP
/capita that ecotourism was a positive influence economically on Costa Rica. Another key problem
is that the economic benefit of ecotourism does not always reach the local community. One of
ecotourisms main goals is to help the local community generate domestic employment and

The Impact Of The Columbian Exposition
March 31st, of 1889 marked an important day in not only France s history, but America s history as
well. The Eiffel Tower was unveiled that day, during the Exposition Universelle in Paris, joining the
palace of machines, and other larger than life feats of the iron architecture [that] dominated the fair
(Expo1889 Paris). As a nation, America was embarrassed and determined to show their dominance
in the realm of iron and steel working. Thus, the idea for the Chicagos world fair was born, giving
the US a needed opportunity to out Eiffel Eiffel (Larson 15). Before long, it was decided that the
fair would be called The Columbian Exposition , honoring the 400th anniversary of Columbus s
sail across the Atlantic. During its six months of operation the fair was an unequivocal success and
had a powerful and lasting impact on the nation s psyche politically, socially, and economically
(Larson 373). Consequently, despite having certain economic implications, the 1893 Chicago World
s Fair, to a large extent, was an event that both influenced millions and acted as a transitional period
for America in several different manners.
Politically, the Columbian Exposition was an immense success. Just coming out of an industrial
revolution, the nation had several inventions and innovations, that were yet to be seen by other
leading countries, such as AC DC electricity, agricultural machines, and an impressive
transcontinental railroad system. Without a doubt, the Columbian Exposition

A Part Of Epistemology Is The Study Of Knowledge
A part of epistemology is the study of knowledge. The study of knowledge deals with various
questions such as: What is considered as knowledge? How is knowledge acquired? What are the
limits of knowledge? (Steup, 2014). Knowledge can be acquired in two ways as there are two
types of knowledge. One type of knowledge is a posteriori knowledge which is gained through
experience. The other type of knowledge is a priori knowledge which is based on reasoning and
independent of experience. Through the limits of knowledge, the problem of scepticism arises.
Scepticism is concerned with the existence of knowledge. A sceptic is a person who doubts
whether we have any knowledge. It has been suggested that we do not, or cannot, know anything,
or at least that we do not know as much as we think we do. Such a view is called skepticism.
(Turncellito). There are four types of sceptics: Radical, Local, Cartesian and Humean. A radical
sceptic says that we do not and cannot have knowledge, knowledge is therefore unobtainable. A
local sceptic suggests that a person can have knowledge in certain subjects and not in others. For
example, I can have knowledge about my thoughts but not about the thoughts of others.
We will learn about Cartesian scepticism through Descartes First Meditation. Descartes (1641) talks
about how whatever he has considered true until now has come to him through his senses and these
senses have occasionally deceived him. Therefore, he says that it is unwise to completely

The Chrysanthemums Symbolism
How can a flower simply represent the personality of a person? Chrysanthemum comes from the
Greek prefix of chrys meaning golden and anthemion meaning flower. John Steinbeck s short story
discusses the life of Elisa Allen, an advocate for gardening with an internal want for a more
fulfilling life. The chrysanthemum is an ironic flower to use in this story because the
chrysanthemum is a symbol of optimism and joy, which is lacking in Elisa s life. Steinbeck brings
the theme of genderinequality to the surface by using the symbols of the chrysanthemums and the
Salinas Valley as representations of different feelings and emotions in Elisa s life. In John Steinbeck
s The Chrysanthemums , the chrysanthemums themselves represent Elisa and... Show more content

The chrysanthemums symbolize Elisa s life and how society has forbidden her to be anything
other than a housewife or something within the boundaries of her home. When Elisa offers the
Tinker her chrysanthemums, she was also offering herself because she saw herself as one with
her flowers. When the tinker tosses her flowers on the road this mimics the way he rejects her
and the way society has rejected women. The flowers, just like women, are seen as merely
decorations, not something that can be daring. The chrysanthemums like women are golden, but
golden only in regards to looks, nothing more. When Elisa tells the Tinker she can fix pots and
would love to live the life that he had, he says It ain t the right kind of a life for a woman. Women
are supposed to be housewives and mothers. Even though Elisa wants a more thrilling life, she
follows in the footsteps of a traditional housewife. She laid out her husband s clothes and ran his
bath water because she knows that is her place, even if she disagrees with it. The Salinas tie
themselves to the theme because they limit the potential of Elisa s life just as society does. The
valley keeps Elisa within the confinement of her quaint life. The two men in Steinbeck s story,
Henry and the Tinker, do not notice the intelligence, beauty, and potential that Elisa has just as
society does not see it either. Steinbeck uses

Technology Addiction To Technology
When we think of addictions we tend to think about drugs, alcohol, and other negative addictions,
but my parents are addicted to technology. It all started in 2013 when they got their new samsung
galaxies and ever since they became technology savvy and tend to show me new things they learned
on their new devices. When my motherdiscovered how to screenshot she said Hey Tre look what I
did! I replied Ok. Than she answered back with I learned how to screenshot! All I could do is
burst into laughter and she sat there with a confused faced but yet still eagered she achieved such a
difficult task. Their addictionto technology isn t a negative addiction yet, I see it as a humorous
addiction and not as serious. The very first time we got internet my parents were so confused on
how to fix the wifi and even make a password for the wifi. Every time the wifi was down I would
turn it off and back on and it worked like magic. They saw it as if i ve been working for comcast
for my whole lifetime. Now they are Laptops and learning how to use Google. The very first
stage of their addiction to technology is when they connected our desktop to the wifi and created
a facebook. At first I saw it as an innocent act just to be up to date with modern technology, but
little did I know it would turn into an issue. They would be on Facebook at all times of hours and
when I logged into my Facebook I would have 100 plus notifications from my parents alone. They

Franz Marc Essay
Introduction
Franz Marc was a German artist and printmaker, and also one of the key statistics of the German
Expressionist movement. Franz Marc was born in February 8, 1880 in Munich and past away in
March 4, 1916, eventually Marc was only 36 years old. Wilhelm, the father, was an expert
landscape painter; his mother, Sophie, was a strict Calvinist. Marc began to study at the Academy
of Fine Arts, Munich in 1900. In 1903 and 1907, he spent time in France, intensely in Paris, visiting
the city s museums and copying many paintings, a conventional way for artists to study and
improve technique.
Marc made sixty prints in woodcut and lithography. Most of his developed work portrays animals,
usually in natural surroundings. His work is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The blue, as Marc prescribed, gives a peaceful note to the agitated atmosphere. He recollects an
illusionistic portrayal within which he seeks to form a rich colour composition that reflects the
vitality of his subject. The principal achievement in Red Horses is this portrayal of the uninhibited
energy of nature using completely naturalistic colours. 2. Figure : Tierschicksale by Franz Marc
This Tierschicksale is one of the most popular landscapes drawn by Franz Marc. It characteristic
of the sense of apocalypse that began to taint Marc s work and is relate to his feelings on the
forthcoming war.
This painting used of numerous elements and principles of design. Using line showing the contrast
between the animal and the floras. Also, the value (tone) and colour used containing dark and light
in colours, the tone of the colour on the right of the painting is darker, and lighter colour on the
left. Moreover, this landscape created an emphasis (focal point). An animal is clearly shown in the
central of the landscape and creates a focal dominance.
Marc clarifies that he began to see the ugliness in animals which he had previously thought only
existed in humans. The use of lines and geometric shapes in this landscape carried the emotional
charge previously conveyed by animals. This landscape related to Marc s ideas on the impending
war. Marc was part of the school of thought that the war would purify and redeem the

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Beeswara
Apply a moisturizer or a conditioner to retain alligator leather s natural oils and compounds and
maintain its luxurious appearance and texture. Beeswax is a good conditioner for this type of leather.
Use cleaning products that are specifically formulated for alligator leather. The wrong chemicals,
especially those in cowhide leather cleaning agents, can do more harm than good by darkening the
leather and damaging its skin.
Just like human skin, alligator leather can manifest adverse reactions to cleaning products. When
using a formula for the first time, test it on a small, inconspicuous area first to check for staining

One coat of wax or polish at a time is generally enough.
Apply a stain and water protector.
To be added under ADVANTAGE OF CAIMAN SKIN heading:
As we have mentioned earlier, caiman leather is relatively cheaper compared to crocodile and
alligator leather. This does not mean that caiman skin is of inferior quality, though. Part of the
reason caiman leather is more affordable is that caimans are not as hard to find. There are farms
where caimans are grown specifically for their skin.
The fact that caiman leather is not as soft or pliable as crocodile and alligator leather does not
make caiman skin low quality. In fact, its rigid body is highly ideal for boots, handbags, and other
items that need to hold their shape.
Also, although caiman leather has smaller tiles, it does have deeper ridges that give it more
character and personality. The Hornback, for instance, is favored by some manufacturers and
designers because of their distinctive scales, which add to the final product s appeal.
Finally, caiman leather has a rich history behind it. Back in the 30 s and the 40 s, it became a
popular raw material for women s handbags, briefcases, and small

How Does Annabel Lee Rhyme Scheme
Poe uses rhyme scheme and internal rhyme to enhance the tone of his writing. In Annabel Lee it
says, For the moon never beams without bringing me dreams (Poe 1.34). This sentence is a perfect
example of internal rhyme. Poe is rhyming beams with dreams to emphasize the love the speaker
has towards Annabel Lee. From this, the tone can be interpreted by heartbroken since Annabel has
passed away. Another piece of evidence that shows rhyme scheme, is in the text, A Dream Within
A Dream , which states, I stand amid the roar/Of a surf tormented shore, (Poe 1.12 13). Edgar Allan

Chemical Weapons And Nuclear Weapons
Chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons have changed the way that people look at wars forever.
Since their implementation into the battlefield, it has been realized that these taboo weapons are
ones to be feared. Responsible for an extravagant amount of deaths over the past eighty years,
chemical, biological, and nuclear threats are not to take lightly. A nuclear weaponis an explosive
device designed to derive its destructive explosion via nuclear fission, nuclear fusion, or a
combination of the two processes . The implementation of nuclear weapons was a
Figure 1) serious game changer, and gave the upper hand to the more technologically advanced
countries because of the scientific efforts that go into developing these weapons, making the
possession of nuclear weapons a more apt problem for nations themselves, rather than non state
actors, such as terrorist groups. As shown in Figure 1, there has been a general steady decrease
of the amount of nuclear weapons held by the United States. This is where chemical and
biological weapons differ from nuclear weapons. Over the past years, chemical and biological
weapons have seen more action, and this can be attested to the significant difference in developing
these weapons. Because chemical and biological weapons are so easily acquired, it is more likely
to see them being used by terrorist groups rather than nations themselves. Because of the potential
threats and easy obtainment of biological weapons, they are potentially the

they have will start to evaporate as they are confronted with life s challenges. Having a clear idea

Speculative Desires and an Unchanging Western Hostility
The article US Policy Toward Political Islam by Stephen Zunes is a thoroughly researched topic.
His depictions of a greedy, judgmental America are accurate and to the point. While there is a
good chunk of useful suggestions that may have created less hostility from our Eastern
counterparts, it is not logical or possible to say that following these sanctions out would have
changed the outcome of the last ten years. What can be said of these ideas, is that following a
more honest approach to politics through US policies would have given America a much needed
transparency. Many of the extremist groups are founded on the hatred of American downfalls such

This has led to the extremist groups attack of American policies and ideals. While it was
necessary for our involvement in the first World War, it is not necessary now. The Palestinians
living in East Jerusalem are living in horrible conditions at the hands of their Israeli oppressors. In
this case, not taking a stand would at the very least strain our relationship with Israel, but improve
our relations with Islamic countries of the Middle East.
While there are a host of options laid out by Zunes in his article to directly affect our policies
abroad, we must consider teaching tolerance at home. Children should be required to attend
ethnicity/cultural sensitivity courses in elementary school. Colleges should require all freshman
to take a more advanced study of global cultures. These classes would expose the world s top
religions, compare them with our American values, and explain why different is not bad. If
schools took a more direct approach to prejudices and just plain wrong information, as nation, we
could create children devoid of ignorant opinions. Perhaps had this course been taken years ago,
Miss. Teen USA could have answered the question regarding why American children cannot read
maps. While it is impossible to create a completely aware and culturally sensitive generation, we
can eliminate a huge amount of misplaced ill will towards those who come from different cultures
and religions. It is possible to make the outcomes possibilities, but we will never

Ethics And Principles Of Ethics
Ethics is a system basic moral principals and concepts of civilized human conduct. it helps us
develop ideas about what is moral, right from wrong and dictates of conscience. Ethics also helps to
distinguish between honest and dishonest characteristics in people. In business, ethics is something
that is essential to one s moral compass. It is something that is taught through the child rearing
process and into a child s formative years. Ethicsrequires knowledge. Fundamentally this suggests
that learning is required for one to have develop their own set of ethics, be it good or bad.
Through out the formative years or, child rearing process, parents promote and support their
children from infancy to adulthood. This suggests, they teach their own personal ethics to the
children they rear. According to the philosopher Socrates, ethics can be taught. He argues that,
ethics consists of what we ought to do, and such knowledge can be taught . As children s minds
develop, they learn obedience to the law of land from their parents, teachers, and authority figures
in their life. However, they only act in terms of these authority figures. Psychologist Lawrence
Kohlberg established the idea that the ability of moral thinking does not form simultaneously. It
develops in children in stages, the same way there are stages of growth and physical development.
According to Kholberg, there are three levels of moral development: pre conventional morality,
conventional morality, and

The Christ in Majesty with Symbols of the Four Evangelists uses an interesting technique in its
apse, compared to previous Byzantine decorations in apses. It incorporates the technique of
fresco painting, where artists painted pigments into the plaster and wood on the walls so the
paint would become one with the walls similar to methods used in ancient Greece, compared to
exercising mosaics as decorations in apses. The artist mostly employed primary pigments in the
Christ in Majesty with Symbols of the Four Evangelists to make the figures stand out. A
repetition occurs in the pigments with red, gold like yellow, and blue with the occasional purple
and the hair colors vary with tones of brown and grayish white. The style portrayed in the Christ
in Majesty with Symbols of the Four Evangelists follows previous rules with the representation of
divine figures in churches. The proportions of the piece utilizes the hierarchy scale with the most
important figure Christ. The figure of Christ is the largest image shown in the apse, and other
figures such as the apostles, the four symbols of the evangelists, and the scenes from the New

Analysis Of Herbert Hoover s The Great Gatsby
This script presents as a historical, character driven drama that explores an interesting part of
Herbert Hoover s life as a secretary and mining scout in Australia. The tone is consistently dramatic
with a nice element of wit and humor. The era, culture, and time period feel authentic and
believable. The historical information feels well researched.
Hoover s goal to become rich and marry the woman of his dreams is well established and drives
Hoover s actions.
Will the story has the potential to be a compelling drama, the script would benefit from more
development, especially in the area of structure, pace, and tension.
First, the opening begins when Hoover is handing over his Presidency and then flashbacks back in
time. This is a workable structure, although the opening scene doesn t immediately grab the
attention of the audience. It s heavy with dialogue and doesn t highlight the emotion of Hoover.
The first act is driven by Hoover s quest for a job so that he can marry the woman he loves. The
first act is a bit repetitive in dialogue, as his friends repeatedly counsel him about meeting with
Lou s father and what to do and say. Hoover also tends to repeat his goal several times about
getting rich and marrying Lou (page 17 and page 20 are examples).
The second act is driven by Hoover s job in Australia. The concern about the second act is that there
s very little compelling tension to sustain the overall plot. The story requires stronger pivotal plot

Power Transmission Of Electric Utilities
Electric Utilities are a vital industry to the overall economy, and to our very way of life. Keeping
the lights on, is for many people, the reason they go to work, that along with food, and other
necessities. Therefore these companies serve a very important role, and just like other industries
there is competition. Specifically, for our purposes, the electric utilities industry I m going to focus
on is the transmission of power from a generator, to a distribution center, another utilities company,
or the final consumer. The key economic drivers, in this industry revolve, as always, around
demand. Therefore consumption, number of households, price of electricity, manufacturing
capacity and public capital investments are all derived from the demand coming from the end
users, in the economy (IBISworld). These metrics are a result of a heavily regulated market, in
which the consumers, and therefore its agent, the government, hold most of the power in this
industry. Electric power transmission is a mature industry in the United States, and its projected
growth over the next ten years is a modest 1.2% (Morningstar). This industry will be examined as a
whole and then comparatively, as I inspect companies performing in this sector and their relative
performance. EXTERNAL ENVIORNMENT When assessing the external environment of the
electric utilities industry, a PESTLE analysis is appropriate to determine significant external factors
affecting this industry (Vrabac). Of these PESTLE

The Superego In William Golding s Lord Of The Flies
The poor ego has a still harder time of it; it has to serve three harsh masters, and it has to do its
best to reconcile the claims and demands of all three...The three tyrants are the external world, the
superego, and the id. Sigmund Freud. The human mind is a constant battle between the devious
nature of the id, challenges from the external world, and the moralistic and logical views of the
superego. In Lord of the Flies, William Goldingpresents the notion that both the id and superego
have special circumstances under which they can win over the ego. Golding uses Jack to
symbolize the id, Piggy the superego, and Ralph the ego in order to convey that the id has only
been suppressed by order. Golding uses Ralph to represent the ego in that he is controlled by the
id when order is not present, while the superego controls him when it is. When Jack enacts his
first dance with his hunters, Ralph acts sensible and calls an assembly. He preaches to the group
that the smoke is more important than the pig... make smoke up there or die (81). Ralph clearly
suppresses the id in one of his first speeches. He voices logic and reason to the boys, not quick
acquisition of pleasure that Jack advocates for. This comes so easily to him because he is
surrounded by the order of the camp, where the superego rules. Yet, when he is in Jack s world of
savagery and barbarism, the id possesses a notable authority. Ralph, Jack, and a few others are
reenacting a pig hunt when Ralph briefly

Also the destruction of wetlands and overfishing have played a big role in letting this substance
get out of hand. With overfishing and the destruction of wetlands competing organisms that
usually keep the element from getting out of hand, are dying. And with less and less organisms
to keep it in check the growth only becomes faster. The effects of this are not only found in
Morenton Bay, Australia, but worldwide. During Swedish summers strands of the crynobacteria
wash up on shore as a yellow ish substance. Dead fish pop out along the coast and if the locals get
near it, their eyes burn and they can t breathe. On the southern coast of Mauii in Hawaii the high
tide brings in green algae so foul smelling that condominium owners hired tractor drivers to
scrape it off the beach each morning because of the smell. On the Gulf Coast of Florida residents
complain that harmful algae blooms are longer lasting, more frequent and bigger. This is killing
off many sea mammals and is flooding the Florida emergency rooms with patients suffering from
repertory diseases. North of Venice, Italy, a sticky mixture of algae and bacteria collects on the
Adriatic Sea in spring and summer. This white mucus washes ashore, fouling beaches, or congeals
into submerged blobs, some bigger than a person. On the Spanish coast jellyfish have become so
large that special nets have to be strung to protect

My Narrative Story Of A Youtube Channel
NARRATIVE STORY
So I made my YouTube channel about 1 year ago, I wanted to do it, but then it was also a dare to
do it. At first I thought it was lame, but then I started making more and more videos and got
people to actually subscribe to me. Soon I had a few subscribers and I finally noticed all the
comments and likes and subscribers I got. I made a video about that and that video about that
and that actually got a few more views and likes then I expected, I got a few more subscribers
here and there and so my friends who dared me to do it also started noticing. They started talking
about since I have a channel going what videos am I gonna start making and they came up with a
few good ideas, my channel actually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once they saw I was in pain they took me inside and I told them I felt a pain and I heard a crack,
They thought I just cracked a stick and the pain was from the fall, they thought if they would give
me an ice pack it would help, they soon realized that didn t help either. I went to the hospital and
they took x rays and stuff, they came back with a sling and some pictures, I looked at the
pictures and I immediately knew I had a broken collarbone, I put on the sling and went home. The
pain I was in is like you had 1000 pound weights on your arm, because I couldn t move my arm a
bit.
I don t know much about my first word but I actually think that it might be chocolate. I enjoyed
chocolate when I was little, which is also why I think that my first word was chocolate because I
loved it so much. If I had a choice to I would actually go back in time and change what my first
word was and I would change it to wow. I sometimes wanna do that but then I also don t because
I d be surprised if I actually said chocolate. I sometimes think that the reason I said chocolate is
because my brain was still in developing process even though It wasn t very developed like it is
right now, when I think I actually might have said chocolate I actually believe that might have

Crime And Deviance In The Dark Knight By Christopher Nolan
Throughout The Dark Knight by Christopher Nolan crime and deviance is seen throughout the
film. Crime and deviance in The Dark Knight has two faces as society accepts crime for those
whose are helping them and at the same time punishes those who are punished. Society in Gotham
accepts crime when the Batmancommits it to help for the betterment of society; however, crimeis
not accepted when it is committed by mob bosses, gangs, criminal cops, and most importantly
through the joker. The forms of deviancy/crime which are seen throughout the film is the Labeling
Approach, Human Rights Approach, and Human Diversity Approach. The Labelling Approach is a
theory in which an individual s identity is determined or influenced by the terms that is used to
describe or classify them, through the use of serotyping someone. This is seen within The Dark
Knightwhen the Joker recruits those who have been labelled as mentally insane, or have been
outcast by society. This makes them believe that have a sense of being within society as they
start to create their own society, and those who do not follow the norms that the Joker puts into
place. Through allowing the joker to recruit those who have a negative label, do to the Joker
having a label himself of being a villain by both sides of society. Not being accepted by anyone,
even his own, which forces him to act on such a label through committing crimes that are not
even the norms of the criminal society. This behavior is being seen as a rationale by both sides
of society the general public, and criminals by not allowing the Joker and his associates fit within
the norms that are being set for them. This also helps society within Gotham to make sure that
those with a label are not socially accepted such as those that have a mental illness, and who
perform criminal acts. However, at the same time it gives the people of Gotham as a sense of
power over those that have a label, and the sense that they have a position over society. Furthermore,
the Human Rights Approach argues that crime occurs whenever a human right is violated, no
matter of what context the crime is being committed, regardless of whether the crime was legal or
not. This is seen within The Dark Knight when

Smoking Should Be Allowed In High School
Growing up, teenagers and children of the like hear an adult discuss their high school experience.
Back in the day, smoking was common for teenagers and even adolescents. There were specific
rooms in buildings to smoke, ashtrays around every corner and a disposal area for the remainder
of one s cigarett. In today s society smokingis still prevalent, but some people have moved on to
bigger and maybe not better things. Not only are some people s actions a negative impact for a
significant amount of people s health, but also it could endanger yourself and ruin multiple lives.
Clarifying things up, smoking is not the main problem. Freedom is the main word that the world

Medici Family Research Paper
The Medici family started their rise to power in the 1200 s as a not very well known middle
class family. They were inferior to a multitude of families but eventually grew to be the most
important family in Florence and Italy at their peak. The Medici took advantage of the ciompi
Rebellion in 1378 when Salvador de Medici tried profiting from the rebellion by attempting to
become the layman s leader. In 1393, Giovanni de Medici took ownership of the Roman branch of
a bank owned by one of his Florentine cousins. He moved the headquarters of his bank to Florence
in 1397, the official founding date for the Medici Bank. At the time, Rome was a source of funds,
but Florence offered more investment opportunities. The Medici set up a system of branch... Show

His banking house trained and employed Giovanni and his elder brother Francesco, who
eventually became partners in the firm. After Vieri split his three banks, Giovanni took his to
Florence and seeked out Gentile di Baldassare Buoni as a partner. They raised 10,000 gold
florins and began operating in Florence, though Gentile soon left the firm. This move had
certain advantages for a bank, because as the predominant large banks of the 14th century which
were based in Florence such as the the Bardi, Acciaioli, Peruzzi families (Roover, 38). While
Giovanni was in Florence he was able to grow the bank and create several new branches. His
branch in venice was very lucrative due to investment opportunities. On March 25, 1402, the third
branch of the Medici bank was opened in Venice. It suffered from some initial mismanagement but
eventually began profiting. It was this branch that established the practice of having a general
manager s remuneration be paid through shares in the branch that he purchased with his
investment. Also in 1402, the first Medici factory was established for the production of woolen
cloth, and then another in 1408. Where Giovanni really helped the Medici family rise to power
was in 1413. In 1413, Giovanni bet on the return of the papacy to Rome after the great schism and
the French Avignon Popes. Giovanni took this educated leap of faith due to one of his influential

Abortion And The Social Aspects Of Abortion
INTRODUCTION
It is estimated almost half of pregnancies in Australia are unplanned . Unexpected pregnancies
happen for various individual, social, economic and political reasons . The World Health
Organisation (WHO) approximates one in three women in Australia will have an abortion
procedure in their life . Abortion data is only gathered by South Australia, Western Australia and
the Northern Territory. However, South Australia is the only state to publish data and report
findings annually. Abortion is a heavy topic which has the nation spilt into two groups; pro life
or pro choice. Pro life is in favour of the foetus and they believe that by killing the foetus it is
equivalent to murder. Pro choice is for abortion, as they believe that the woman has the choice to
do what she wants with her body. This report will cover how religion deals with abortion and how
it can clash with modern ethnicity, abortion safety, the repercussions of abortion and the social
aspects of abortion.
RELIGION VS ETHNICITY
Religious communities have had a convoluted history in regards to abortion. The Catholic Church
of Australia states the direct and voluntary killing of an unborn is gravely immoral. No reason,
however serious or tragic, can ever justify the deliberate killing of an innocent human being .
Abortion is not explicitly forbidden within the Bible; as neither the Old nor New Testament
condemns it. As a social norm, however, Catholic s believe that life starts at conception via

Melting Pot Analysis
This essay aimings to compare and contrast the different between a Gorgeous Mosaic and a
Melting pot along with three other essays that will be mention later in the text. The end goal is to
successfully identify and analysis, what is the culture in the USA and how does it tie in within the
topic already mention. In this essayyou can also view, the difference between the multicultural
societies and its people. This will open up a clear path inside the reality in the American society and
the suffering many immigrants, African and Native American need to go through to fit within the
stenders of the government.
Forcing an individual to fit in within a society is not uncommon; The US does on the daily basic.
All to create something that many like to call a Melting pot or a mosaic , let s take the story of an
Native American child who thought his life wasn t worth much because the government was in
favorite of creating a melting pot and make an ideal country. The Melting pot is the part that every
person things they are willingly giving, but in reality they are forced to give away for the sake of
the nation. Sherman Alexie the native american boy who taught himself unworthy because of the
circumstances of his birth; fought to make others like Native American children like him
understand that even if A smart indian was a dangerous person, feared and ridiculed by indians and
non indians alike it was still better than to stay with a heart full of regrets. A

Enforcement Of Inspections Of Ffl Dealers
8. Enhance the enforcement of inspections of FFL dealers. In 2014, of the 140,000 FFL dealers
in the U.S., only 10,429 were inspected (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives,
2015). This means roughly 7.5% of FFL dealers were inspected during the 2014 fiscal year. By
law ATF can only inspect FFL dealers once a year, but it seems they aren t even capable of doing
that. Dealers with expired licenses, hazardous store conditions, stolen firearms and a myriad of
other issues and safety concerns go virtually undetected and continue to run their business. It is
no surprise that the illegal firearms market continues to grow and that firearms dealers
contribute heavily to this issue. In making sure FFL dealers receive their annual inspection, it
would increase the chance of a violation becoming detected and therefore dealers possibly being
more cautious and less likely to conduct illegal transactions. 9. Increase the amount of cameras
in parking lots and inside firearms store. By increasing the number of cameras in parking lots
and inside stores you are increasing formal surveillance of potential buyers. If dealers placed a
camera in the store that had a sign stating the camera was monitored by the ATF or another federal
agency, it could deter potential straw purchases by scaring potential buyers. Dealers could also
bring customers to fill out paperwork in an area that has a camera with a motion sensor light,
another possible scare tactic to make potential buyers second

The Topic Of Representation And Stereotypes
For this essay I have chosen to write about the topic of Representation and stereotypes . Using a
media example I will be exploring the concept of why stereotypes are used so commonly and do
they really matter. Through my research, I hope to provide substantial evidence, which backup my
points throughout and give the reader a clear understanding of how stereotypes are used in my
chosen piece of media text.
Stereotypes have always been around it s not a new concept people are only discovering recently.
Stereotyping is people s thoughts on others not like themselves. It s when an individual is judged
on their characteristics and put into a certain group reflecting them. Individuals are generally
judged on religion, gender, race and sexual orientation. These are just a few categories that exist
in stereotyping, however the main two forms that cause a lot of controversy are sex and race. A
few well known examples of sex and race stereotypes are...
All women are bad drivers
Black people are good at sports
Men are strong and do all the work
Women should be in the kitchen
These stereotypes are so commonly used it s now the norm way of thinking. Stereotyping is
basically making an assumption on a group of people without knowing them. This type of thought
process reflects the most traditional conceptualization of stereotypes within social psychology, in
which stereotypes are considered to be the picture in the head of individuals looking into their
social worlds

Game Theory Is The Study Of Decision Making Under Competition
Game Theory is the study of decision making under competition. More specially, Game Theory is
the study of optimal decision making under competition when one individual s decisions affect the
outcome of a situation for all other individuals involved.
Game Theory can be broadly classified into four main sub categories of study:
Classical Game Theory
Combinatorial Game Theory
Dynamic Game Theory
Other Topics in Game Theory
As a mathematical tool for the decision maker the strength of game theory is the methodology it
provides for structuring and analyzing problems of strategic choice. The process of formally
modeling a situation as a game requires the decision maker to enumerate explicitly the players and
their preferred moves, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The techniques of solving games involving more than one strategies particularly in case of large
pay off matrix are very complicated.
All the situations cannot be analyzed with the help of game theory.
Classical Game Theory
Game theorists consider the axiomatization of the utility function in the case of uncertainty a major
contribution in von Neumann and Morgenstern. It paved the ground for the modeling of rational
decision making when a decision maker is faced by lotteries. Thereafter a utility function, ui(.),
which satisfies the expected utility hypothesis, i.e.
(1) ui([A,p;B,1 p]) = pui(A) + (1 p)ui(B) is called a von Neumann Morgenstern utility function.
Here A and B are events p is the probability that event A occurs while 1 p is the probability of B
occurring. Thus [A,p;B,1 p] is a lottery. It is a notational convention to write [A,p;B,1 p] = A if p =
1 and [A,p;B,1 p] = B if p =0.
The probability p can be related to a model of relative frequencies and are, in this sense, objective
and thus represent risk; or they can be subjective and thus represent uncertainty.
The utility values which the function ui(.) assigns to events are called payoffs. Because of eq.1
we do not have to distinguish between payoff and expected payoffs: if player X is indifferent
between the lottery [A,p;B,1 p] and the sure event C then ui([A,p;B,1 p]) = ui(C), i.e., the payoffs
are identical. If ui(.)

Becoming An Active Learner By Skip Downing
Some future college students are born with a natural talent in the subject English. Which
includes critical thinking, writing, and reading. While for others, possibly being
mathematicians, English is and probably will never be their keen subject in life. Students find
more passions in sciences, arts, and medical teachings which is not something to look down
upon. Although, many students forget that English is still a huge part of all these subjects.
Where ever these students go they will find the necessity to read something or to write
something. That s where college English comes in handy. College English prepares students for
academic writing at a university level, and also for their careers when formal writing is
required. Many students fear college English classes, but there are many ways to succeed in
these college English classes. Looking over the articles Becoming an Active Learner by Skip
Downing, Brianology by Carol S. Dweck, and The Right to Fail by Willliam Zinsser, these authors
express their feelings on being able to succeed in life in a general view. Mainly taking educationinto
consideration. Students should not be afraid of college English classes because their are many
ways to succeed in them by establishing a growth mindset, creating an active learningpattern, and
having a positive and mature attitude. To start off, if students establish and set their minds to a
growth mindset, these students are more likely to succeed in college English. A growth

Disadvantages Of Functional Departmentalisation In A...
Firstly, functional departmentalisation coordinates work and employees through different units.
Departmentalisation based on functions is used widely by organisations. Functional
departmentalisation requires employees with the same knowledge, skills, and resources to allow
them to work efficiently and promotes the development of greater expertise. For instance,
departmentalisations according to functions are accounts, sales, marketing, production, operations
and human resource department. This department has its advantages in where it allows work to
be carried out by individuals who are qualified and skilled in the areas concerned. Besides that, it
also reduces cost by decreasing work duplication and use of resources in the organisation. However,

It outsources business activities to other organisations, suppliers, experts or consultants. Modular
organization involves several largely independent bodies that can reorganise and work with diverse
departments as required. This design has many advantages, one of it is the payment of outsourced
activity such as labour, experts and production capabilities are only required when the transaction
takes place. Besides that, it increases organisations flexibility and ability to restructure easily. For
instance, a firm can switch between different providers and thus respond more quickly to different
market needs. Consequently, this design allows an organisation to perform well, fast and cheap
compared to other organisations. Virtual organisation refers to a design that involves flexible
network of independent entities associated by telecommunication and computing technologies to
share skills, services, knowledge and access to expertise in non traditional ways. Virtual
organisations have long relationships that are shorter and temporary with the organisations in its
network. It allows organisations that are involve in the network to share all costs involved as the

Mass media has a strong liaison and this strong interpersonal relationship with different sources of
information results in an unveiling of health and social care related information to the public.
Common people are completely influenced by the information provided by the sources. As the
sources of information has been introduced in the previous section, it is state worthy that social and
health care information has changed the attitudes, thoughts, and behavior of common people. Mass
media along with social media make people much more aware about their health and safety issues
(Godden, 2014).
For example:
Before the invention of Facebook, any movement that had to be taken place faced great difficulty.
But as Facebook grows and other mass media are getting concerned about the rights of them from
the society, any nonviolent movement is taking place without such effort than previously had done
(Mcclimens, et al, 2012).
People are conscious about various contagious diseases and much more aware about their
contribution to the society. They are also focused on their rights from the society. Their
contribution to the society and the benefits they are deriving from the society are summed to take
them to a balancing position or situation (AJOL, 2014).

Les Demoiselles D Avignon Andre Salmon Analysis
I will be focusing on two of the readings; the Andre Salmon essay an Anecdotal History of
Cubism written during Picasso s time in 1912, and the David Lomas article In Another Frame: Les
Demoiselles D Avignon and Physical Anthropology. The Salmon essay, as the title suggests,
focuses on the Cubist movement as it was understood during his time, making sure to delineate
Picassos early work as Picassisme. Salmon recognises the novel aspect of Cubism as a way in
which to depict an object holistically through geometric forms and painting beings and things such
as they are and not as our eye recognizes them... . He describes the disjointed history of the
movement and its artists, quoting Metzinger saying Cubism is a means, not and end. Salmon

The Lomas article takes a more specific approach by looking at Picassos Les Demoiselles D
Avignon and how the form of the prostitutes could have been shaped by the dominant physical
anthropological doctrine of the day. Lomas also studies Demoiselles as Picasso s challenge and
in many ways, celebration, of the widespread belief about the degeneration of Western civilized
society. Lomas provides a background on the common anthropological beliefs of the day with a
focus on anthropometry, which gave scientific backing to the racial, cultural and sexual hierarchy;
a hierarchy that Picasso rebels against through the usage of primitive sources and morally
degenerate subject matter. The degeneracy of the prostitute s profession associated them with races
at the bottom of the established hierarchy. As a result of this association, Picasso depicts the
prostitutes with the anthropometrically assumed masculine body type of non western, and more
specifically, African and Oceanic people. Lomas provides examples of the preparatory sketches for
Demoiselles allowing the reader to see Picasso research and develop the prostitute s body

  • 2. The National Holiday Of Columbus Day Should Not Become A... The national holiday of Columbus Day should never have become a recognized Federal holiday. Christopher Columbus did not actually discover the Americas. There were millions of indigenous people already living in the location that he was exploring. It is true he was an explorer trying to find his way to the riches of the Indies and mapping his way for Spain and Europe however, how is it a discovery when people are already living on the land? He didn t even make it to the location he was originally trying to reach. He was also a brutal man that enslaved the people living on the land he discovered . We as a people enjoy having our holidays off and it has been a recognized holiday since enacted by Franklin D. Roosevelt. It was celebrated in some aspect or another hundreds of years before then. We are celebrating a figure that has been romanticized about for so long even though the truth of the man is a very different story. If we dig further into the truth we will discover that it really makes no sense to why we have a day to celebrate this man. As a nation we may want to reconsider either a different celebration of this day or removing the holiday completely. According to the Library of Congress the first recorded celebration of Columbus Day in the United States took place on October 12, 1792, for the 300th anniversary of his arriving to America. At the 400th anniversary it was recommended by President Harrison that the United States observe the day as a holiday. Then the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Why I Am An Algonquin Tribe Leader I am an Algonquin Tribe Leader, I have been asked who I am going to side with and I picked the French this war is going take take place in the mid 1700s and we are living in places near the great lakes. I chose the french because we have had a very good relationship with them, we have traded them all kinds of beaver pelts, furs, for weapons, tools, pots, and, pans. Overall the French has helped us advance in technology and our tribe drastically. They have also been very friendly to our tribe. We should join the French and I have reasons for this. First off why would we ally with the people that are expanding their land once they win the war, they could just fight us and expand into our territory. Also the French have trade with us and been ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Cold Side Of The Government And All Their Big Cover Ups There are many mysteries in this world and one of the big ones is the government and all their big cover ups. The government has many secrets that many people are absolutely clueless about what the government is doing with all of our money while doing illegal things that a treaty even said you cannot do. At this moment, too many people that live in our country think the government is straight up with everything and they don t lie to us at all. The number one reason of that is many people are still on their feet because of the government and what they do for the people . The cold hard truth is they lie and don t tell us anything. They may seem like nice people on the outside and what they say to believe in but just look them up on the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So, the government has been hiding and secretly doing many things and has yet to tell us and these few are little compared to what they have done to us. They have been flying around the world with a reusable unmanned spacecraft, used for many things other than flying, the nasty CIA and what they have been working on since the start of the Cold War, and finally the USA s new and definitely improved rail gun that can take down ships in a snap, and what it actually is. First, the government is stabbing us in the back because they are going to end the world someday by the looks of the killing spacecraft. Some people may think that it is just for testing and they are not sure what they will actually do with the spacecraft. Lots of evidence points out that the USA is making a deadly weapon that has the power to easily take out underground bunkers and whole cities in fact. First, we start it off when the USA started making the plane and nobody knew about it. It was just another one of the government experiments that can be deadly in a heartbeat. Now, many people may call me crazy but, it is the scary truth. There is a satellite in orbit as we speak and the purpose of it is truly scary. What the purpose of it and this is the scary and devastating part is video games are truly telling the future. That might not sound scary yet, but the whole thing is the whole ... • 5. Key Enterprise Tech Trends For 2015 And Beyond By Eric Knorr 1.Introduction 2.Questions 2.1.Using the 9 key enterprise tech trends for 2015 and beyond by Eric Knorr, select, rank and compare your top five trends. Discuss the reasons for your ranking? The below listed topics are ranked and compared accordingly to the argument of innovation and global need. The given reasons generate reasonable understanding of the trends and their importance in enterprise systems: 1.The triumph of the public cloud I ranked this trend first because I believe it is one of the most advanced and talked about topic in tech world in present year. This controversial topic is creating buzz all over the world. With advancement of technology, various tech companies have increased their effort to provide a free cloud storage system. Eric Knorr also listed this topic as a number one tech trend in his list. I believe this topic itself is one of the major challenges for public and private companies in term to provide certain product which not only is hard to maintain as well as complex and costly to generate. IT Companies can shift their fundamental competitive landscape by fabricating a new platform which will help to create and deliver values businesses have to its stakeholders (IBM, 2012). The cloud based storage can be used by companies to generate Enterprise data which can be used as various decision making and evaluation tools. (Stair and Reynolds, n.d.) 2.Liquid Computing: Eric Knorr listed this trend number four in his article but I believe ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Ngo Dinh Diem And The Vietnam War Essay This is why, the U.S started to back up and support Ngo Dinh Diem, an anti communist politician, who strongly disagreed with the rebellion of old Vietnamese. In 1955, Diem managed to be the leader of the South Vietnamese government, declaring the Republic of Vietnam and cancelling the scheduled elections in 1956. However, his governance proved to be very unpopular, demonstrating corruption and persecution. In general, his policies were created to eliminate communists from South Vietnam, which he referred to as Viet Cong , but resulted in an increase of sympathy for these communists and led them to form the National Liberation Front (NLF), as a representative of a united front, recognized and sanctioned officially also by the North ... Taking in consideration Kissinger s advice, Nixon started to gradually pull back a lot of American soldiers from Vietnam and return the control of the war toward the South Vietnamese ARVN, while continuing to supply and prepare for the war the ARVN. Despite the fact that Nixon continued to diminish American troop strength in South Vietnam, the battling proceeded. In 1972, South Vietnam faced a massive invasion by the North Vietnamese, but still managed to prevail with U.S. airpower assistance. In January 1973, were signed the Paris Peace Accords, under which the U.S. forces were completely withdrawn from Vietnam. However, this did not put the war to an end, because the war continued until April 1975, when Saigon fell to the communists. If we would be deciding who deserves to blame for the wars, the first things we need to do, is to analyze the reason why each of these countries involved joined this war. The people of Vietnamese started these war, aiming for their independence; firstly from French, than Japan and then again from France. From this point forward, some of them continued the war to joint their two nations, while others we fighting against communism. As for France, it joined the war aiming to retain its colonial power, while Japan was endeavoring to conquer the world. The United ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Rousseau is known for his first book, A Discourse on the Sciences and Arts, about his philosophies saying that man is good. Golding is known for his bestselling novel he ever wrote, Lord of The Flies, also expressing his philosophies saying that man is evil. Rousseau and Golding have many contrasts that fight against each other s philosophies but was never spoken to each other because they lived in different time periods. My view on the spirit of a humanwithout order is that humans are all good even though some don t show it. Jean Jacques Rousseaus philosophies were published in 1762 to explain the good of man. His philosophies explained reasoning is what causes societies to corrupt the good of man and humans are just naturally good by themselves. This lack of understanding allows minor cases of neglect to progress into major cases that can end in the death of the animals involved. There are two basic causes to most mental disorders, genetics and environmental factors. Neglect can end up being the environmental factor that causes an animal to develop a mental or behavioral disorder. Now is when the question arises, do animals even have the capacity to develop mental illnesses? Well, according to numerous veterinarians and scientists, the answer to that is a resounding yes. Many vets are diagnosing animals with depression and giving dogs with separation anxiety xanax prescriptions, and it is working. These animals who are being diagnosed and treated for their mental illnesses are making complete 180 degree turns towards being healthy and happy again. So the negative effects that neglect has on the health of animals is real. If the animals are not catching diseases from unkempt pens, they are developing mental illnesses from the isolation of being alone in a cage all day. While the unintentional abuse of animals is sad and disheartening, the intentional abuse of animals is downright infuriating for most. The intentional abuse of animals is defined as an intentional infliction of harm or suffering on an animal. An example of this would be when the weird kid down the road hangs his neighbor s cat from a tree by its back foot and beats it with a baseball bat. • 14. Compare And Contrast Gluckicose And Hexokinase Hexokinase and glucokinase are similar enzymes found in different parts of the body. These enzymes are used to regulate glucose levels in the blood. Glucose is the only nutrient which feed the brain, making fundamental in a diet. Glucose is derived from carbohydrates, and carbohydrates are the main source of nutrients. Once, carbohydrates are broken down into single molecules of glucose. Hexokinase and glucokinase assists in the metabolismof glucose through a process known as glycolysis. Glycolysis is a multiple step process which converts glucose into ATP or stores it as triglycerides. Therefore, hyporcaloric people require energy, causing the cycle to proceed in ATP pathway. Triglycerides are created when the person has excessive calories available. Once glucose enters the body, it begins to fill the requirements of the body. For Example, the first tissue to get filled is the brain, the second is the muscle, and if there is glucose still available in the blood, then it enters the liver. Hexokinase and glucokinase have the same function, but they react differently with in the body. Hexokinase and glucokinase work together to make glucose functional for the body. Glucose is either used for energy or stored for later used. Hexokinase is found in most cells, and allows glucose to enter at lower concentrations. This enzyme will proceed into ATP production if the cells are hypocaloric or low in energy. On the other hand, if cells are hypercaloric, glucose will be stored as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. Two Negative Impacts Of Transnational Corporations On... Explain TWO negative impacts of transnational corporations on developing countries. Introduction The purpose of this report is to explain why the impacts of transnational corporations on developing countries are important to understand. Transnational corporations are large companies that have a head office in one country and subsidiary offices in other countries. They affect all countries; however, they affect developing countries on a much larger and damaging level. This is because developing countries are poorer, many people have a lower standard of living, and the resources available and the amount to hire an employee is significantly lower that one of a developed country. The two negative impacts caused by transnational corporations that will be discussed in this report are sweatshops and life expectancy. These impacts are important to understand because they educate us on how the world of trade is influenced by sweatshops, and how sweatshops effect an individual s life. Globalisation The impacts of globalisation are happening around us every day, with or without us realising it. Globalisation is the breakdown of traditional barriers between nations, and a trend towards faster and cheaper movement around the world of people, goods, money and information. As shown in the figure, many different factors are impacted and impact globalisation. Economic globalisation consists of the growth and development of international trade. This is the process of ... Essay on The Life and Role of Wacs During WWII In a 1944 magazine article, Eleanor Roosevelt claimed that American women are serving actively in many ways in this war [World War II], and they are doing a grand job on both the fighting front and the home front. 1 While many women did indeed join the workforce in the 1940s, the extent and effects of their involvement were as contested during that time as they are today. Eleanor Roosevelt was correct, however, in her evaluation of the women who served on the fighting front. Although small in number due to inadequate recruitment, the women who left behind their homes and loved ones in order to enlist in the newly established Women s Auxiliary Army Corp (WAAC), and later the Women s Army Corps (WAC), were deemed invaluable to the war ... Although the Wacs were initially intended to free soldiers from desk jobs, they soon became efficient, multipurpose workers.8 The staff director from the European theater, Lt. Col. Anna W. Punishment is suppose to be the way to awaken the feeling of guilt in someone that has done some wrong. However, punishment does not succeed in instilling bad conscience, or the sense of guilt, on the guilty person. When someone is punished, they do not receive a feelingof guilt . It can lead to two opposite things; either they are are able to become stronger and tougher and take the punishment, or they have their vitality destroyed and become dehumanized. Immediately I began to think about some of the stories my parents have shared about how my parents were punished when they were children. Now back in the 1960 s when they were kids, it was okay for their parents to smack them. It was just normal in society back then. They both agreed that, The physical discipline they received did not make them feel guilty about what they did. Instead, it made them scared to do it again. This goes along with what Nietzsche said. My parents stopped talking back and fighting with their siblings because they were scared of how their parents would punish them, they did not stop because they felt bad about it. Their vitality was broken down. I completely agree with it too. When I was a child I got it way easier than my parents did. When I got punished I was told to go in my room and not able to have any electronics. They would always tell me, Think about what you did. This was a method of theirs that truly was effective. • 19. The Influence Of Thomas Jefferson s Monticello In... Thomas Jefferson designed his home the Monticello in Charlottesville, Virginia. The house is a Neoclassical structure made out of brick, glass, stone, and wood. As the father of the American Revolution, his ideas were inspired by the classical antiquity he saw during his travels to Europe and so the house s structure was based on the movement seeking to reinvent classical ideas. Jefferson viewed art as a powerful tool, believing it could provoke social change, inspire the public to seek education, and develop a general sense of the Enlightenment to the American public. Jefferson believed scale and public nature of architecture had the ability to fulfill the aspirations of a skilled orator, by having the ability to Teach, to Delight, and To Move. When Jefferson began designing his home he strayed away from the typical Wren Baroque architecture common in Virginiabecause it was seen as too British for the North Americans.... Essay on Whispering in the Giants Ear by William Powers Williams Powers, an ecotourist activist wrote in his book, Whispering in the Giants Ear, That which we allow to exist, to flourish freely according to its own rhythms, is superior to anything our little hands create. Ecotourism is defined as responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the environment and improves the well being of local people. Economical Impact Ecotourism plays a vital role in a nations economy. Many factors entail whether a country can be successful economically. Ecotourism has thrived and failed, depending on how it was operated. Once a country accepts money from their government to begin ecotourism, they will be forever in debt. When the governments fronts the money, the government is in control. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was concerning to the government, but unlike the Philippines, the Costa Rican government agreed with the locals to invest and trust in ecotourism for a decade. After nine years, in 1973, Costa Rica had broke even. In 1974 they made over ten million. Ever since 1974, profits had come in exponentially. From 1974 to 1994 over six hundred million was brought in. In 1999 for the first time in Costa Rican history over one million ecotourists came to Costa Rica. They brought in over one billion in revenue. Many speculate that the Philippines were on the same track, but the lack of communication between the government and people proved catastrophic. Costa Rica is known as the focal point for ecotourism worldwide. Ecotourism began in Costa Rica in the 1970 s. It was very small and began to grow exponentially in the late 1980 s. In 1970 Costa Rica had a GNP, gross national product of 1000 million in 1995 that number nonuple to 9000 million. Many consider 1978 the first year ecotourism began in Costa Rica. At that time, Costa Rica had a GNP/capita of 1500. After the ecotourism boom, the number ballooned to 2000 in 1992. It is evident by the 33% increase in GNP /capita that ecotourism was a positive influence economically on Costa Rica. Another key problem is that the economic benefit of ecotourism does not always reach the local community. One of ecotourisms main goals is to help the local community generate domestic employment and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 22. The Impact Of The Columbian Exposition March 31st, of 1889 marked an important day in not only France s history, but America s history as well. The Eiffel Tower was unveiled that day, during the Exposition Universelle in Paris, joining the palace of machines, and other larger than life feats of the iron architecture [that] dominated the fair (Expo1889 Paris). As a nation, America was embarrassed and determined to show their dominance in the realm of iron and steel working. Thus, the idea for the Chicagos world fair was born, giving the US a needed opportunity to out Eiffel Eiffel (Larson 15). Before long, it was decided that the fair would be called The Columbian Exposition , honoring the 400th anniversary of Columbus s sail across the Atlantic. During its six months of operation the fair was an unequivocal success and had a powerful and lasting impact on the nation s psyche politically, socially, and economically (Larson 373). Consequently, despite having certain economic implications, the 1893 Chicago World s Fair, to a large extent, was an event that both influenced millions and acted as a transitional period for America in several different manners. Politically, the Columbian Exposition was an immense success. Just coming out of an industrial revolution, the nation had several inventions and innovations, that were yet to be seen by other leading countries, such as AC DC electricity, agricultural machines, and an impressive transcontinental railroad system. • 23. A Part Of Epistemology Is The Study Of Knowledge A part of epistemology is the study of knowledge. The study of knowledge deals with various questions such as: What is considered as knowledge? How is knowledge acquired? What are the limits of knowledge? (Steup, 2014). Knowledge can be acquired in two ways as there are two types of knowledge. One type of knowledge is a posteriori knowledge which is gained through experience. The other type of knowledge is a priori knowledge which is based on reasoning and independent of experience. Through the limits of knowledge, the problem of scepticism arises. Scepticism is concerned with the existence of knowledge. A sceptic is a person who doubts whether we have any knowledge. It has been suggested that we do not, or cannot, know anything, or at least that we do not know as much as we think we do. Such a view is called skepticism. (Turncellito). There are four types of sceptics: Radical, Local, Cartesian and Humean. A radical sceptic says that we do not and cannot have knowledge, knowledge is therefore unobtainable. A local sceptic suggests that a person can have knowledge in certain subjects and not in others. For example, I can have knowledge about my thoughts but not about the thoughts of others. We will learn about Cartesian scepticism through Descartes First Meditation. Descartes (1641) talks about how whatever he has considered true until now has come to him through his senses and these senses have occasionally deceived him. The chrysanthemum is an ironic flower to use in this story because the chrysanthemum is a symbol of optimism and joy, which is lacking in Elisa s life. When the tinker tosses her flowers on the road this mimics the way he rejects her and the way society has rejected women. The flowers, just like women, are seen as merely decorations, not something that can be daring. The chrysanthemums like women are golden, but golden only in regards to looks, nothing more. Specifically, for our purposes, the electric utilities industry I m going to focus on is the transmission of power from a generator, to a distribution center, another utilities company, or the final consumer. The Superego In William Golding s Lord Of The Flies The poor ego has a still harder time of it; it has to serve three harsh masters, and it has to do its best to reconcile the claims and demands of all three...The three tyrants are the external world, the superego, and the id. Sigmund Freud. The human mind is a constant battle between the devious nature of the id, challenges from the external world, and the moralistic and logical views of the superego. In Lord of the Flies, William Goldingpresents the notion that both the id and superego have special circumstances under which they can win over the ego. Golding uses Jack to symbolize the id, Piggy the superego, and Ralph the ego in order to convey that the id has only been suppressed by order. Golding uses Ralph to represent the ego in that he is controlled by the id when order is not present, while the superego controls him when it is. When Jack enacts his first dance with his hunters, Ralph acts sensible and calls an assembly. He preaches to the group that the smoke is more important than the pig... make smoke up there or die (81). Ralph clearly suppresses the id in one of his first speeches. He voices logic and reason to the boys, not quick acquisition of pleasure that Jack advocates for. This comes so easily to him because he is surrounded by the order of the camp, where the superego rules. Yet, when he is in Jack s world of savagery and barbarism, the id possesses a notable authority. Ralph, Jack, and a few others are reenacting a pig hunt when Ralph briefly ... • 43. Crime And Deviance In The Dark Knight By Christopher Nolan Throughout The Dark Knight by Christopher Nolan crime and deviance is seen throughout the film. Crime and deviance in The Dark Knight has two faces as society accepts crime for those whose are helping them and at the same time punishes those who are punished. Society in Gotham accepts crime when the Batmancommits it to help for the betterment of society; however, crimeis not accepted when it is committed by mob bosses, gangs, criminal cops, and most importantly through the joker. The forms of deviancy/crime which are seen throughout the film is the Labeling Approach, Human Rights Approach, and Human Diversity Approach. The Labelling Approach is a theory in which an individual s identity is determined or influenced by the terms that is used to describe or classify them, through the use of serotyping someone. This is seen within The Dark Knightwhen the Joker recruits those who have been labelled as mentally insane, or have been outcast by society. This makes them believe that have a sense of being within society as they start to create their own society, and those who do not follow the norms that the Joker puts into place. Through allowing the joker to recruit those who have a negative label, do to the Joker having a label himself of being a villain by both sides of society. Not being accepted by anyone, even his own, which forces him to act on such a label through committing crimes that are not even the norms of the criminal society. This behavior is being seen as a rationale by both sides of society the general public, and criminals by not allowing the Joker and his associates fit within the norms that are being set for them. This also helps society within Gotham to make sure that those with a label are not socially accepted such as those that have a mental illness, and who perform criminal acts. However, at the same time it gives the people of Gotham as a sense of power over those that have a label, and the sense that they have a position over society. Furthermore, the Human Rights Approach argues that crime occurs whenever a human right is violated, no matter of what context the crime is being committed, regardless of whether the crime was legal or not. Unexpected pregnancies happen for various individual, social, economic and political reasons . The World Health Organisation (WHO) approximates one in three women in Australia will have an abortion procedure in their life . Abortion data is only gathered by South Australia, Western Australia and the Northern Territory. However, South Australia is the only state to publish data and report findings annually. Abortion is a heavy topic which has the nation spilt into two groups; pro life or pro choice. Pro life is in favour of the foetus and they believe that by killing the foetus it is equivalent to murder. Pro choice is for abortion, as they believe that the woman has the choice to do what she wants with her body. This report will cover how religion deals with abortion and how it can clash with modern ethnicity, abortion safety, the repercussions of abortion and the social aspects of abortion. RELIGION VS ETHNICITY Religious communities have had a convoluted history in regards to abortion. The Catholic Church of Australia states the direct and voluntary killing of an unborn is gravely immoral. • 48. Enforcement Of Inspections Of Ffl Dealers 8. Enhance the enforcement of inspections of FFL dealers. In 2014, of the 140,000 FFL dealers in the U.S., only 10,429 were inspected (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, 2015). This means roughly 7.5% of FFL dealers were inspected during the 2014 fiscal year. By law ATF can only inspect FFL dealers once a year, but it seems they aren t even capable of doing that. Dealers with expired licenses, hazardous store conditions, stolen firearms and a myriad of other issues and safety concerns go virtually undetected and continue to run their business. It is no surprise that the illegal firearms market continues to grow and that firearms dealers contribute heavily to this issue. In making sure FFL dealers receive their annual inspection, it would increase the chance of a violation becoming detected and therefore dealers possibly being more cautious and less likely to conduct illegal transactions. 9. Increase the amount of cameras in parking lots and inside firearms store. By increasing the number of cameras in parking lots and inside stores you are increasing formal surveillance of potential buyers. If dealers placed a camera in the store that had a sign stating the camera was monitored by the ATF or another federal agency, it could deter potential straw purchases by scaring potential buyers. Dealers could also bring customers to fill out paperwork in an area that has a camera with a motion sensor light, another possible scare tactic to make potential buyers second ... • 49. The Topic Of Representation And Stereotypes For this essay I have chosen to write about the topic of Representation and stereotypes . Using a media example I will be exploring the concept of why stereotypes are used so commonly and do they really matter. Through my research, I hope to provide substantial evidence, which backup my points throughout and give the reader a clear understanding of how stereotypes are used in my chosen piece of media text. Stereotypes have always been around it s not a new concept people are only discovering recently. Stereotyping is people s thoughts on others not like themselves. It s when an individual is judged on their characteristics and put into a certain group reflecting them. Individuals are generally judged on religion, gender, race and sexual orientation. These are just a few categories that exist in stereotyping, however the main two forms that cause a lot of controversy are sex and race. A few well known examples of sex and race stereotypes are... All the situations cannot be analyzed with the help of game theory. Classical Game Theory Game theorists consider the axiomatization of the utility function in the case of uncertainty a major contribution in von Neumann and Morgenstern. It paved the ground for the modeling of rational decision making when a decision maker is faced by lotteries. Thereafter a utility function, ui(.), which satisfies the expected utility hypothesis, i.e. (1) ui([A,p;B,1 p]) = pui(A) + (1 p)ui(B) is called a von Neumann Morgenstern utility function. Here A and B are events p is the probability that event A occurs while 1 p is the probability of B occurring. Thus [A,p;B,1 p] is a lottery. It is a notational convention to write [A,p;B,1 p] = A if p = 1 and [A,p;B,1 p] = B if p =0. The probability p can be related to a model of relative frequencies and are, in this sense, objective and thus represent risk; or they can be subjective and thus represent uncertainty. The utility values which the function ui(.) assigns to events are called payoffs. Because of eq.1 we do not have to distinguish between payoff and expected payoffs: if player X is indifferent between the lottery [A,p;B,1 p] and the sure event C then ui([A,p;B,1 p]) = ui(C), i.e., the payoffs are identical. Les Demoiselles D Avignon Andre Salmon Analysis I will be focusing on two of the readings; the Andre Salmon essay an Anecdotal History of Cubism written during Picasso s time in 1912, and the David Lomas article In Another Frame: Les Demoiselles D Avignon and Physical Anthropology. The Salmon essay, as the title suggests, focuses on the Cubist movement as it was understood during his time, making sure to delineate Picassos early work as Picassisme. Salmon recognises the novel aspect of Cubism as a way in which to depict an object holistically through geometric forms and painting beings and things such as they are and not as our eye recognizes them... . Lomas provides a background on the common anthropological beliefs of the day with a focus on anthropometry, which gave scientific backing to the racial, cultural and sexual hierarchy; a hierarchy that Picasso rebels against through the usage of primitive sources and morally degenerate subject matter. The degeneracy of the prostitute s profession associated them with races at the bottom of the established hierarchy.
