Understanding Cash Flows and Capital Budgeting Decisions
When evaluating cash flows for determining whether or not to pursue constructing a building to
manufacture cupcakes there are several things to consider. The most important would be looking at a
Grammy s incremental after tax cash flow. Then one needs to determine the projects initial outlay, the
differential cash flows over the project s life, and the terminal cash flow. Also what needs to be looked
at is what is the net present value and its internal rate of return.

Why or Why Not?
Yes it should be accepted. The construction of the building should be accepted. This is because the net
present value is greater than one and the NPV is a positive number. This means that the construction
project creates value and wealth. Also the internal rate of return is greater than the required rate of
return. This means the project will be a benefit to Grammy s company.
Genesis 47:18 19 (KJV), states, When that year was ended, they came unto him the second year, and
said unto him, We will not hide it from my lord, how that our money is spent; my lord also hath our
herds of cattle; there is not ought left in the sight of my lord, but our bodies, and our lands: Wherefore
shall we die before thine eyes, both we and our land? Buy us and our land for bread, and we and our
land will be servants unto Pharaoh: and give us seed, that we may live, and not die, that the land be
not desolate. The people in the passage of scripture were explaining to their master what they had to

Analysis Of Richard Powers Work Gain Is A Tour De Force...
Richard Powers work Gain is a tour de force of whatever it is. I say this, rather than describing it as
merely a novel, although that is precisely what it is, because Powers has herein created something
more than your typical story. In this work, two seemingly unrelated paths are set on ambagious paths
which will ultimately culminate in their intertwining. On one path we are presented with the
apotheosis of a specific corporation s development, and on the other is the idiosyncratic life of an
individual living in a place where this corporation has its hand on virtually everything. Herein Powers
has presented what is probably the most riveting illustration of a fictional corporation s rise. In fact, it
is so engrossed in detail that parts of it rival real corporate histories, such as The Great A P and Nature
s Metropolis. The central question here is derived from more than everyday consumers being
buffaloed by Machiavellian corporations. Rather, Powers ascertains the question of how have we
come to be where we are? In doing so, Powers destroys the illusion that geography is solely composed
of maps. His illustration of how a corporation can grow, and in seeming reaction to that growth an
individual woman can wither, permeates the very texture of our lives. You see, it is this mode of
production, for which we all possess profound disdain, that is the source of our everyday living and
experiences. Long before you or I were born, business had already replaced nature as the

Truth In Politics Hannah Arendt Analysis
According to the text On Lying Writing Philosophical History after the Enlightenment and after
Arendt by Sophia Rosenfeld focuses on the works by Hannah Arendt. Arendt was a German Jewish
intellectual who fled Germany with the rise of Adolf Hitler in 1933, lived in Paris as a stateless
refugee and Zionist activist until 1941 and then fled to and settled in the United States (Isaac). Hannah
Arendt addresses in an essay on Political Lying written at the end of the 1960 s and first years of 1970
s. During this time Arendt became an experienced world traveler. According to Rosenfeld Arendt
famously gets a lot of her past wrong (Rosenfeld 220). However, Rosenfeld s study of Arendt s work
is not to find error rather depict the history of the writing of the French enlightenment. The Truth in
Politics written by Arendt provides a tour of various ancient and early modern thinkers, from
Herodotus to Spinoza to James Madison, and of events in the profound and recent past to name a few
(qtd. in Rosenfeld 218 230).
The Truth in Politics expands upon Arendt s history of thought and politics and in her situation less
between Europe Totalitarianism and post war American democracy (qtd. in Rosenfeld 218 230).
Arendt resolves politics and deception link together in some way. Furthermore, not all lying past to
present are identical in form or effect. In Truth and Politics Arendt stands firm on the position as she
finds in total totalitarian regime all reality become phony and

Botox Informative Speech
Introduction: Courteney Cox and Jennifer Anistor also known as Monica and Rachel on the show
Friends, Jenny McCarthy, Lindsay Lohan, Madonna, Kim Kardashian, Simmon Cowell. What do all
these names have in common? They are all celebrities yes, but they are also all celebrities who have
used Botox. If someone thinks of a celebrity who has had botox I m sure that Joan Rivers would be
one of the first people to come to mind. Joan Rivers is of course one of the celebrities who is not
afraid to tell the world she has had many plastic surgery and Botox experiences. Her face is actually

Another common side affect that I also experienced was neck pain. They call this the bobble head
affect where it feels as if you cannot hold the weight of your head anymore. This causes your neck to

the use of Botox. a. Botox can cause double vision, loss of bladder control, and allergic reactions. b.
Another side affect could be a headache. Which seems very ironic. Yet, it still helps a chronic
migraine (Hendrick, Nichols, Allergan). Conclusion: In conclusion, Botox is a set of injections that are
used for many reasons. Botox is seen in both cosmetic treatments and health treatments. Botox is
proven to be affective in patients who suffer with chronic migraines more than 15 days a month. It is
still in research to see if Botox is affective in patients who suffer with chronic migraines less than 15
days a month and patients younger than 18. Botox also has some side affects that are included in this
treatment. And although one of the side affects may be a headache, Botox has helped many people

Canadian Geography
Canada has an extremley large geography which plays a tremendous role on many factors that affect
Canadians. These factors both help and hinder Canada economically, socially and politically. The
geography of Canada has also caused regions to form. For the most part, these regions exist due to
physical that are present in Canada s landscape. Canada s geography has also had a large impact on
the influences that affect settlers. Canada s relatively low popuation in comparison to the large land
mass make Canada a place where people who desire to settle in high population, urban areas or large,
isolated, and low trafficked areas. The high population of people near the Canadian American border

Another population pocket influenced by Canada is the Cordillera of British Columbia. The urban
population is concentrated in one small area, the southwestern corner of British Columbia. This
population pocket is where 75% of the people in this province live. This region has climate unlike any
other part of Canada mild winters and mild summers. Another population cluster is The Great Lakes
St. Lawrence Lowlands region. Some of the most fertile soil found in Canada lies in the Holland
Marsh area. The Holland Marsh mostly lies within the valley of the Holland River. This 20 000 acre
area contains organic, fertile soil which is ideal for growing market crops for vegtables. Organic
matter consists of living plant tissues and organisms found in soil and organic matter improves the
physical condition of soil. This area had low lying, wetland terrain. Large amounts of resources in
many areas attract many people to this country. The Plains region which stretches down to the
Mexican border has many rich resources including large reserves of oil and natural gas that were
discovered mainly in Alberta and Saskatchewan. The coast of the Cordillera region, in Britsh
Columbia, contains many rich resources mainly a large amount of salmon coming from the North
Pacific Ocean, also many immense forests produce large amounts of lumber. The pockets of
population that exist across Canada has also caused regional

about how people should change to Motivation 3.0 and leave behind Motivation 2.0.Motivation 3.0 is
for someone to continue with their life and have a better future with doing things that you love and
would want to do for your rest of your life. Which Motivation also talks about Type X behavior which

become someone better in their life and show us how that involves with Motivation 3.0. This is
something I keep in consideration, that s why I consider myself in having a Type I behavior that can

Theme Of Violence In Hamlet
In great literature, or in literature in general, no scene of violence exists, or should exist for its own
sake. Every scene of violence should contribute and reinforce to the plot of the work and to what is yet
to come of the work. William Shakespeare successfully merges the acts of violence into a rational and
coherent meaning and the audience can evidence that through the violence of act three, scene four in
which the prince Hamlet of Denmark stabs and kills Polonius. Hamlet s act of violence not only serves
to illuminate important aspects of the play but also accentuates and forces certain themes into play and
adds great meaning to the work as a whole.
This act of violence takes place in Gertrude s closet, where the queen and Polonius are waiting for
Hamlet to arrive. It is worth mentioning that Polonius is hiding behind the arras in order to eavesdrop
on the queen s and his son s conversation and in order to determine why Hamlet is recently behaving
in a bizarre and threatening behavior. When Hamlet arrives to talk with his mother he attacks her in a
physical and verbal manner. Queen Gertrude feeling threatened by her son calls for help, ... Show

After killing Polonius, Hamlet feel no guilt at all, he acts indifferently. The audience can evidence how
appearances and reality come back into play when Queen Gertrude cries out, O, what a rash and
bloody deed is this (Act 3, scene 4, page 106). Hamlet, responds without repentance, A bloody deed
almost as bad, good mother, as kill a king, and marry with his brother. (Act 3, scene 4, page 106).
After this statement made by Hamlet, there is a twist in the scene. Instead of the scene being centered
towards the death of Polonius, it becomes centered towards Hamlet s obsession and hatred towards his

A phenomenological methodology has been encouraged in nursing and midwifery circles as the choice
of scientific research (Crotty 1998: Lopez Willis 2004). This is due to the researcher s mode of

Beauty Is A Timeless Obsession
Beauty is a timeless obsession. In these days, physical beauty is paraded and idolised. The desire in
pursuing a beautiful face and the dream body figure can be seen as a needs in an individual s life that
must be fulfilled accordingly. The beauty obsession in human s life has already started back in 1400
BC, whereby it is believed that people especially women who lived during the ancient years were
exposed to beauty. All women from back then had some sort of regimen to maintain their beauty and
their beauty ritual maybe considered as ultra luxurious as the beauty products were invented from
natural ingredients such as milk, almond oils and honey to maintain their beauty. They were really
depending on ingredients which can be found in nature. As the beauty care has evolved over the years,

Dna Essay
The beginning of this story can be considered as a joke. We just opened the secret of life, said one of
two men, who entered the Eagle pub in Cambridge 64 years ago. Those people did not exaggerated.
One of them was Francis Crick, another James Watson. Watson and Crick discovered structure of
deoxyribonucleic acid a substance that contains all hereditary information. A few months after the
historic statement in the pub came a careful publication of the work of two researchers in the journal
Nature (Watson and Crick 738 740). The article ended with the assumption that the discovery of the
structure of DNA could explain the copying mechanisms of genetic material. With the structure of
DNA in hand, molecular biology became the fastest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Watson cut out of the cardboard four types of nucleotide models guanine (G), cytosine (C), thymine
(T) and adenine (A) and began to lay them on the table. He discovered that adenine binds to thymine,
and guanine to cytosine on the principle of key lock. It is in this way two strands of DNA are
connected together, that is opposite to thymine, one thread will always contain adenine from the other,
and nothing else. The two strands of the Watson Crick model are complementary to each other, so that
wherever an adenine appears on one strand, a thymine occurs directly opposite from it in the other
strand (Garland 219). Watson and Crick got the Nobel Prize in1958. The discovery of the spatial
structure of DNA revolutionized the world of science and led to many new discoveries without which
it is impossible to imagine not only modern science, but also modern life as a whole. In 60th another
important discovery was made the genetic code. DNA contains information about everything that is
inherited, including the linear structure of each protein in the body. Proteins, like DNA, represent long
molecular chains of amino acids. There are 20 amino acids. Accordingly, it was unclear how the
language of DNA, consisting of a four letter alphabet, is translated into the language of proteins,
where 20 letters . It revealed that the combination of three nucleotides of DNA clearly

No One Will Steal My Car Because It s An Old Clunker
Car theft usually happens when you least expect it. You may be walking to your car after a hard day at
the job only to find an empty spot where you thought you left it. As you walk through the parking lot,
hoping against hope that you may have parked it in another spot, the awful feeling finally sinks home:
your car was stolen. Unfortunately, this all too common experience happens to many people because
they weren t prepared. They thought it couldn t happen to them because they acted on common car
misconceptions about theft that left them without a car. Here are three of them: No One Will Steal My
Car Because It s an Old Clunker There are at least two reasons why this is a myth. First, old cars are
easier to steal because they lack the latest anti theft technology of the newest cars. While it s true that
smart thieves do find ways of defeating state of the art anti theft devices, there are fewer of them
around. It s basically a bell shaped curve thing. The more smarts required to steal a car, the fewer the
thieves around with the required smarts. The rest simply go after easy targets like your old clunker.
The second reason is that professional thieves often prefer older cars because ... Show more content on

several decades ago when the very first car alarm came out. Today, most people regard car alarms as

Compare and Contrast Two Supply Chains, Drawing on...
To start, it is vital to clarify the concept of a supply chain. It consists basically of all the process that
the materials suffer as they flow from the source to the final customer. There are many concepts linked
to this term, purchasing, warehousing, manufacturing, etc. Or more precisely: a supply chain is a
system of business enterprises that link together to satisfy consumer demand. The elements of a
supply chain can be contained in the same business or be part of different companies (Riddalls et Al.,
2000) For this essay I have chosen two very different companies; Zara, a Spanish fashion collection
manufacturing company, and Dell, American multinational information technologic corporation. Some

What they do is listen to consumer preferences and what it is more popular and produce what they
want. That is why they always have fresh and trendy designs. In terms of production, they have and
control the main factory in La Coruña (north of Spain) to be able to supply as fast as possible all the
stores. The fact of having the factory in Europe and not in other countries such as China is high, but it
is something that is covered by lower transportation costs as well as the capacity to supply demand
almost immediately, which its translated in big amount of sells. It is a very flexible demand based
production. Another positive point of Zara, due to high frequency of changing clothes is the low risk
that this report. As they change constantly the outfit, if there is a product that is working good it can be
immediately replace within a maximum of one week, while in other companies, where the stock is
bigger, it will need to be stored in the shops for longer time. This will carry on low inventory costs.
Zara, has an agile production that focus it success in the quick response to demand even though it is
no, a priori, predictable. Dell s supply chain, on the other hand it is completely different that Zara s
one. The components of Dell s supply chain are the customers, Dell s website (which is the only
official place where you can buy a Dell computer), Dell s assembly plant and Dell s suppliers. The
way Dell computers production works is completely different from

Social Class Status Of A Child s Parents Essay
Introduction Annette Lareau is the author of Unequal Childhoods, she study African Americans and
white families to understand the impact of how social class makes a difference in family life,
specifically the children lives. This book talks about how the social class will determine how children
will use their cultivate skills in the future. Through her research, she finds the differences in the
parenting styles of twelves families, which all the kids was in the third grade. While reading the book
Lareau found that middle class parents practice concerted cultivation, and working class and poor
parents practice accomplishment of natural growth.
Summary
Reading this book shows how social class status of a child s parents matters. One of the big issues was
how it matter in school success. Chapter 1 talks about the difference between Concerted Cultivation
and the Accomplishment of Natural Growth. Concerted Cultivation is a middle class child rearing
technique they use on a child to improve their child talents. The middle class parents use this
technique to schedule activities for their child. Parents also practice language with their child. Middle
class parents let their child find agreement with them. Lareau states that middle class parents also
takes more consideration with authorities that are associated with their children. For example, when a
parent is not comfortable with the teacher s way of teaching, middle class parents would directly speak

The Government Of The United States
The government of the United States is divided into three parts the legislative, executive, and judicial
branches. The vast amount of control within this government is split between the aforementioned three
branches; and is also known as power. The definition of power as given by the Merriam Webster
dictionary is [the] ability to act or produce an effect , which in the instance of power within the
government would imply the ability to produce an effect on the economy or wellbeing of the United
States of America. The question is though, is this division of power equal? The Executive branch
employs more than four million people, the most famous being the President and the Cabinet. Their
powers and responsibilities include conducting diplomacy with other countries, the executive order,
nominating Supreme Court justices, and the enforcement of federal laws. Most of the power that the
Executive branch exerts comes from the executive order, an order given by the President in times of
national crisis that overrides almost everything; which can either be taken back by the President
himself or be declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court, who is indirectly controlled by the
Executive branch. When one of the justices on the Supreme Court dies or is impeached by the
Legislative branch, the President is required to nominate a new justice; who must then be approved by
Congress to advance to the Supreme Court. This is just one of the ways that the Legislative

Types Of Deep Brain Stimulation Essay
This paper was a ground breaking entry into the combined usage of deep brain stimulation (DBS) and
optogenetics. Studies involving DBS are usually met with potential confounders as to the route of
therapeutic intervention. The authors mentioned three, the first being the difficulty in determining
specific circuits responsible due to the complexity of nervous tissue. Another being that DBS makes
use of high frequency stimulation (HFS) which itself produces a myriad of changes in activity that can
be hard to pin down in target cells. The final being that DBS creates artefacts through electrical
stimulation that clouds target cell responses in neural circuits1. Parkinson s Disease (PD) is
characterized by a loss of dopamine in the striatum that results in both motor and affective
pathologies. Specifically modulated are the direct and indirect pathways in the basal ganglia. The
indirect pathway is studied in this paper and comprises the global pallidus interna and its afferent
synapses on the subthalamic nucleus.2 To address this aspect of PD and the aforementioned DBS
issues the authors decided to make use of channel rhodopsins, halorhodopsins, optrodes and optical
stimulation. To induce the PD symptoms, rodents were injected with 6 hydroxydopamine (6 OHDA)
to induce hemi parkinsonian symptoms on the contralateral side and in vivo delivery of ChR2 and
NpHR was done via lentiviruses.

A second option is to try out different formats and arenas to hold a Cirque Lite show in North
American markets in order to appeal to a new audience that may not be willing to pay high ticket
prices. But, this will dilute the brand and the associations already built in the loyal customers minds. A
third option is to appeal is to a broader audience in all current markets using Cirque s multimedia
division to launch television specials that can serve as commercials for Cirque s value proposition.
The TV specials will allow broader audiences to see the value of the experience and will give Cirque
employees a break from constant touring. However, Cirque cannot bring the brand to a broader
audience without customer research into discount preferences and types of entertainment they seek
out. So, Cirque will need to conduct research to help it understand how best structure its pricing and
strengthen its value proposition to create meaningful experiences for audiences that set Cirque further
apart from competitors and complementors. The TV special strategy will also serve well in the future
when going to new markets to attract an audience. Therefore, Cirque should pursue this option to
build its brand presence in current and new market and to attract a broader audience.

Money, Money, Money
America is recognized as a place where if you work hard enough you can become wealthy. In fact, the
U.S. has more millionaires than any other country in the world. However, for all that prosperity, the
gap between rich and poor has always been large. People have been attempting to fix this inequality
for over a century now. Andrew Carnegie, a Scottish immigrant who became the second richest man in
America by dominating the steel industry, and Terence V. Powderly, an American attorney, labor union
leader, politician, and best known as head of the Knights of Labor, were among the first to propose
solutions. Carnegie s idea, called The Gospel of Wealth, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The former thought that money should be in the hands of the wealthy, who were in his mind better

extravagance or self indulgence, instead, promoting philanthropy. As a result, the wealthy would
administer their riches beneficially and not in a way that encourages the slothful, the drunken, the
unworthy (Carnegie). Meanwhile, Powderly argued that the masses should have the possibility of
bettering their own lives. Through the common man s access to money, Powderly believed that they
could achieve not only better living conditions, but a happier society in general, all while decreasing
the ever growing gap between the rich and the poor (Powderly). While Carnegie s idea of the wealthy
providing a better society for the underdog is appealing, Powderly s idea of a level playing field is
more realistic and should be used in order to deal with the phenomenon of wealth

The Stop And Frisk Policy
Patrol officers spend numerous hours a day patrolling the streets; many of these hours are used
executing the Stop and Frisk Policy. The Stop and Frisk Policy has caused a lot of controversy
nationwide. Recently there have been many cases where the Stop and Frisk Policy has resulted in the
death of an unarmed individual, typically an African American male. On July 17, 2014, Eric Gardner
died while being arrested for selling individual cigarettes. The police used the Stop and Frisk Policy
because they had reasonable suspicion. While police were arresting Garner an officer placed him in a
choke hold, while three other man were attempting to take him down as well. The officer that had him
in the choke hold ended his life. This incident was caught on camera and caused a lot of controversy
because the officer that had him in the choke hold was found innocent by the grand jury (Mathias,
2014, p. 1). Although it has been proven that the Stop and Frisk Policy has prevented some crime, the
communities reaction to it demonstrates that the policy creates a negative impact in communities
where this policy is implemented. Many individuals feel that this policy is a violation of the Fourth
Amendment right, is typically only used on minorities, and is very ineffective. Stop and frisk is a
practice that permits a police officer to stop any individual if the officer has reason to believe criminal
activity may be afoot (Fallon, 2013, p. 321). There are many cases that ruled in favor

The Science Of Human Cloning
The science of human cloning is one of the most fascinating entities of the 21st century biology. The
announcement of a cloned sheep ignited an international debate in the late 1990s; two and half
decades later, the debate is still very much alive (Li 1 2). The researchers at the Roslin Institute,
Scotland, announced that they had fruitfully cloned an adult mammal (Caplan 1 3). The procedure
used in cloning is called somatic cell nuclear transfer. It involves the transfer of the genetic code from
the cell of an adult organism into an enucleated organism egg. Over the years, the science of cloning
has found widespread application including human experiments. Ethicists, theologians, scientists,
physicians, legislators, and concerned citizens have intensely debated the idea cloning from
multivariate viewpoints. The National Bioethics Advisory Commission has reviewed with respect to
its implications. It has come up with findings that of interest in this essay, top most being the increased
potential of misuse of cloning by rogue scientists.
A huge number of scientists are not necessarily interested in producing human clones; their primary
goal is to use some exceedingly young embryos to obtain cloned human cells capable of curing
diseases. There is no doubt that cloning provides an array medical possibilities, including
transplanting of vital organs damaged during an accident. Another possible scenario would be the
supposition that a person would become sick with a disease that

Achilles Tenon Injury
Unlike many other orthopedic injuries, Achilles tendon injuries are not fully understood, which results
in heavily deliberated treatment procedures. Patients often have an unpredictable outcome with respect
to return to function. Over the previous fifty years, the evolution of repair surgery for the Achilles
tendon has been slow and minimal; furthermore, surgical repair is unpredictable and surrounded by
complications5. Regarding surgical versus non surgical procedures, there are existing studies that
propose that conservative treatment not involving surgery give results comparable to surgical repair as
long as patients undergo early rehabilitative protocols as well. However, it must be noted that the same
studies discuss that the re rupture ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, the study involving doxycycline discussed earlier was merely a pilot study and,
therefore, is supposed to be regarded as a preliminary analysis. This study is meant to provide
important information to orient more specific future research studies. As is the case with many
biomedical research studies, this experiment is done using non human subjects to avoid unknown,
potentially harmful results to be projected on humans. This fact adds to the mystery surrounding the
Achilles tendon; although rats are a good model system for humans, there is a great amount of
generalizability done when transferring the data and results from rats to be interpreted for humans. In
terms of procedure, noteworthy discrepancies exist in the discussed study. For example, the
administration of doxycycline to the rats started one day prior to the induced tendon laceration5. This
is a distortion of reality because in humans we do not know when we will receive an injury to our
Achilles tendon. Furthermore, the injury to the tendon in the rats was surgically induced using a
knife5. Again, this is unrealistic for humans because Achilles tendon injuries do not occur naturally by
way of knife but rather are usually traumatic and do not yield the same clean cut that was obtained in
this study. This is important to note because the way the injury was induced could impact the healing
process

Essay On Wound Care Nurse
Change Proposal Paper: Getting a Certified Wound Care Nurse
Abstract This paper is written from the perspective of a nurse manager for a hospital floor and focuses
on a proposed change to that floor: the addition of a certified wound care nurse. It begins by
describing the benefits of a specialized wound care nurse, the existing conditions on the hospital floor,
and how each of the stakeholders would be impacted by such a change. It utilizes Lippitt s phases of
change theory to describe how those changes would be implemented on the floor, outlining each of the
phases in implementing such a change. Introduction Wound care nurses play a special role in the
hospital environment, and hospitals without those specialized nurses may not be able to offer the level
of care as hospitals that have these specialized professionals. Wound care nurses, sometimes referred
to as wound, ostomy, and continence (WOC) nurses, specialize in wound management, the monitoring
and treatment of wounds due to injury, disease or medical treatments. Their work promotes the safe
and rapid healing of a wide variety of wounds, from chronic bed sores or ulcers to abscesses, feeding
tube sites and recent surgical openings (Nursing Schools, 2012). While it may seem as if any nurse
should be qualified to perform these functions, it is critical to realize that it is a specialized field. Their
main objectives are to assess the wounds, develop a treatment plan, clean wounds and monitor for

Recruitment Strategies Landslide Limousine Should...
Recruitment is a form of business contest and it is fiercely competitive. Just as corporations strategize
to develop, manufacture, and market the best product or service, so they must also vie to identify,
attract, and hire the most qualified people. Recruitment is a business, and it is big business. It demands
serious attention from management because any business strategy will falter without the talent to
execute it (Cascio, 2013, pg.200). This paper will discuss some recommended recruitment strategies
Landslide Limousine should consider.
Organizational goals
First one must understand the guidelines that define the organizational goals of Landslide Limousine.
These goals will help assist in recruiting the characteristics that are a good fit for employee candidates.
Landslide is striving to provide chauffeur services in Austin, Texas. Also, they seek to gain customers,
get loyalty in the community, remain competitive, and rate as one of the top limousine transportation.
Considerations should be made that Bradley s company is forecasted to have 25 employees with
projected net annual net revenue of $50,000 for the first year of business, with hopes of making 5%
revenue in the years to follow. When companies discover they can communicate better with their
customers through employees who are similar to their customers, those companies then realize they
have increased their internal diversity. And that means they have to manage and retain their new,
diverse workforce. There is

operating expenses low, and as a result Jet Blue had rapid expansion and flew to 53 destinations in 21
states, including Mexico, Puerto Rico, and the Caribbean. Up until 2007, when David Barger took

Customer Complaints: Customer complaints (ranging from cancelled flights, poor customer service,
and discrimination) had placed Jet Blue in the top 5 (#2, 2, and 4 respectively) of the 9 airline carriers.
This is something that has a direct impact on the customer and has room for potential lost business.
Lack Of Proper Training: In a survey by employees, the results showed Jet Blue wasn t fully training
its staff with proper tools and skills to handle various situations. Many employees struggled before a
year on the job. This exemplified a weakened infrastructure. Flight attendants, maintenance crews,
pilots, and other members work together to make sure operations run smoothly and customers have
the best experience. If one area is struggling, the infrastructure begins to collapse such as the ice storm
in 2007 where 1,100 flights were cancelled over 6 days, and 130,000 passengers were affected. Their
systems didn t support a huge crisis which led to a backup in phone lines and standbys. This left a

Domestic Violence Affects Children s Development
Introduction
Thesis: Domestic violence can negatively affect children s development. (make more persuasive)
Children all around the world witness domestic violence. Whether it s between parents, partners or
even the elder. Does the parents, partners, or elder realize the affects that happen to their children?
Witnessing domestic violence, children become fearful and anxious. They become this way because
they never know when the next event may happen, fearing for themselves, mom or dad, and siblings.
Also becoming worthless and powerless, feeling the need to keep their family a secret and/or not
being able to talk to their own family about the abuse. Sometimes they feel like they are the reason
why there is domestic violence in their home. If they look fine to you or others in the world that don t
know about their family, they truly may not be fine at all inside. As reading it doesn t seem that the
children are being hit in any of the domestic violence, but the parent that is being hit from their partner
fear for the child/children. Domestic violence, can negatively affect children s development. (try to

Critical Analysis Of Richard Georg Strauss s An Alpine...
Richard Georg Strauss was born June 11th, 1864, he was one of the leading German composers of the
late Romantic and early Modern eras. He is known for his operas such as Elektra, Die Frau one
Schatten, and Salome. The composition I am going to analyze from Richard Strauss is his An Alpine
Symphony. An Alpine Symphony begins in low volume, leaving me with a feeling of suspense. The
instruments that commenced the piece was a fragment of the string section known as the second
violins. The string section completely joined in but became over taken by a fragment of the brass
section which was the trombones. The trombones played a long note, this theme reminds me of a
funeral because of how silent the musicians are playing their instruments. ... Show more content on

New instruments were introduced in this section, the instruments introduced are the timpani and the
crash cymbals. The timpani and crash cymbals are two members of the percussion section. The
timpani and crash cymbals brought back a sentimental value to me, making me feel happiness because
a few years ago, I learned how to play both instruments for the Knox Pride of Troy Band. The two
instruments bring in excitement, the crashing of the cymbals and the rumble of the timpani are two
loud figures, I believe this section represents the composers emotion when he was waking up from a
long night of sleep. Strauss probably felt an attachment to the day time because it is possible that he
did his best work during the day time. The xylophone was ultimately annexed during this section as
the final member of the percussion section. Like the previous section Night , the light section began to
annex in the french horns, trombones, and string section. The strings along with the timpani and
trombone added a dramatic feeling making me feel warm inside because of how clear and filled with
emotion they played. The light section ends with an allegro movement of the timpani, the woodwinds
join in, and the trumpets are officially
Partlow III introduced to end the section. The section kept a high volume, it would never drop, it
would constantly rise piece by piece. One piece that did not effect me was the coda, because I was
already used to the coda of the previous section,

Brown Shirts The most dynamic segment of the Nazi movements before it came to power was
Sturmabteilung (SA) or Brown Shirts which protected Hitler s political meetings from the attacks by
rivals (Campbell 659). SA functioned as a paramilitary wing of the Nazi party during the raise of
Hitler in 1920s and 1930s. Their name Brown Shirts came after the uniform that they used which was
inspired by the Mussolini s Black Shirts, and their main duty was to eliminate all the enemies and
coordinated allies once the Nazis were in the control of the German state, 1933. SA was consisted by

In 1931, the captain of SA was changed and the new leader was Ernst Rőhm, who created a system
structure in the SA by putting Hitler as the supreme leader of SA and then by putting himself as the
chief of staff. Since SA grew while Rőhm was in charge, Rőhm started to believe that a revolution will
happen and he would be on top of it (Hancock 2). Furthermore, he suggested SA and army to be
combined for his new force, and this suggestion horrified senior officers. Senior officers of
Reichswehr became horrified because traditionally they have seemed SA as street thugs without
discipline and class who did bad things to humanity. Among these beliefs, Hitler also was concerned
with the chief of SA who was becoming a threat for the Nazi party. All in all, Rőhm was not satisfied
with Hitlers choices and he sends Hitler a letter writing that he is betraying everyone and that his
commanders are not the ones who will lead to a revolution as SA would ( The Sturmabteilung or SA
5) . The fate of Rőhm changed after this letter was written since Hitler made a deal with Reichswehr
and decided to get rid of officers of SA. This resulted to the Night of the Long Knives which took
place in June 1934. The Night of Long Knives is known as the purge where SS or the first paramilitary
army of Nazi Party arrests and kills the officers and the chief of SA which has been a threat for Hitler.

How Does Mark Twain Use An Aa Rhyme Scheme
Life and Poems of Mark Twain Mark Twain is, and has been one of the best writers in history. His
writings are still used today in many different ways. His life was a rather volatile one, but he still
wrote many poems, stories, and books. His importance in this essay is his poems, and they expressed a
lot of different ideas in them.
Samuel Clemens, also known by his pen name, Mark Twain, was born on November thirtieth, 1835, in
the small town of Florida, Missouri. His two parents were John and Jane Clemens. In 1839, the
Clemens family moved to the town of Hannibal, Missouri. This was a port city with many boats. Mark

It is called Those Annual Bills . The poem has a AABB/CCAA/DDAA rhyme scheme. This adds some
interest to the poem because there is a refrain of rhyme scheme. AA is contained in every stanza. This
allows for the repetition of annual bills to take place in every stanza as there is an AA rhyme scheme
to contain it. The repetition of annual bills adds meaning to the poem by repeating the main focus of
the poem and making it sound bad. The poem starts with a first stanza consisting of statements of what
the annual bills have done. It talks about bills as a discord, and gets readers to think bills are
frustrating. There is the personification, ...skinned by last year s lot! This emphasizes that annual bills
are bad and disappointing. The second stanza repeats the fact that the bills are frustrating. It makes
bills sound like they take away important parts about life. The third and final stanza focuses on the
people that are affected by the bills. It states that the people that collect the bills are duns, and that
other poets will also write poems about their dislikes of bills. The poem ends off that

Compare And Contrast Grant And Lee
The two generals in the Civil War were Ulysses S. Grant, who commanded the Union Army, and
Robert E. Lee, who commanded the Confederate Army. The two commanding generals were similar in
many ways, but were also very different. For example, General Ulysses S. Grant and General Robert
E. Lee both graduated from West Point Military Academy, but Grant graduated twenty first in a class
of thirty four in 1843, while Lee graduated second in his class of 1829. Another example would be
that Grant had a reputation for being a tough fighter in battle who would never give up; while Lee was

s army began arriving and Grant s command on the battlefield shored up the sagging Union line. Later
in the middle of the afternoon, Johnston rode forward to direct the Confederate attack and was struck
in the leg by a bullet, severing an artery and causing him to quickly bleed to death. General Pierre G.
T. Beauregard assumed control, and halted the advance at nightfall. The Union army was driven back,
but it did not back. Later that day, Grant was joined by the vanguard of the Buell s army. With an
advantage in terms of troop numbers, Grant counterattacked on April 7. The tired Confederates slowly

The common, or magic , number is 10,000 hours of practice in order for one to become master or
professional at what they are trying to accomplish. Most professional athletes such as hockey players
have been playing the sport for just about as long as they could walk. For example, most of the skaters
on the 18u Syracuse Stars AAA hockey team started playing the game at ages 3,4, or 5. Every player
on that team is fundamentally sound when it comes to the game. They have been around it for so long
that hockey became a way of life, these are the players, that dedicate the most time in order to
succeed. They give the small amount of practice time that they have everyday, 100% every time they

the ones who end up having the best chance at becoming a professional. The same goes for any
profession in which one would like to excel in. The hockey coach for the Syracuse Stars 18u AAA

Compare Washington Crossing The Delaware And The Quilt
America, a country that could only be described as a quilt as it is made up of many different peoples.
Sadly, equality and common respect is hard to come by in a nation full of different opinions, colors,
and cultures. Through heart wrenching pathos, Leutze s painting Washington Crossing the Delaware
and Quindlen s The Quilt signifies that while America may seem on the verge of breaking at times it
manages to succeed through the unification of it s people.
Leutze s painting, Washington Crossing the Delaware, conveys that the people of America can
overlook their differences and hardship when being unified by hope. He uses pathos in the color
contrast in his painting to inspire feelings of hope in the unity of America. Dark color seems to loom,
almost pushing upon the ships in the painting. Nevertheless, light surrounds the ships, seeming to flow
from the American flag on the first ship. The American flag is a symbol of hope for the men on these
ships, each of them being drastically different. The men gathered on these ships are all drastically
different . George Washington himself is there, a highly respected general among common folk and
even an African American man. Each of these men different in race, rank, and opinion are unified
under a flag that represents each different person as a single people for the hope that they can earn
their freedom. Despite the pressing darkness the flag shines a light of hope as a symbol of unity for the
people of America. The pathos used in

Thomas Jefferson s Affair With Sally Hemings
Many historians and American alike tend to encircle the Founding Fathers of this nation in a shield of
untouchable morality. With Thomas Jefferson, there is a particularly strong need for him to be seen as
a man of outstanding character. However, Jefferson s personally life has long been plagued with
stories of controversy, particularly his intimate life involving one of his slaves, Sarah, or Sally,
Hemings. By examining the relationships of Thomas Jefferson, with strong attention to the Hemings
family, it becomes clear that his intimate life is one of America s greatest historical scandals. In order
to fully understand the most publicized controversy surrounding Thomas Jefferson, his affair with
Sally Hemings, it is important to grasp his relationships with other women in his lifetime. In a work
dedicated specifically to the women of Jefferson s life, historian Jon Kukla outlines the struggles that
Jefferson experienced when faced with the building relationships with young women. He offers
information regarding Jefferson s intimate life that many biographical texts do not include. His
argument reaches beyond Sally Hemings and Martha Jefferson; it begins with Jefferson s youth, and
his uncomfortable experiences with girls during his teen years. The first relationship that Thomas
Jefferson ever hoped to engage in was with a young woman by the name of Rebecca Burwell. Kukla
traces Thomas Jefferson s problematic relationships with women to the hopes that he had experienced

Gender Roles In The Play Trifles
The play Trifles takes place in the early 20th century, with gender roles definitively established. It
represents little equality, with men assuming that they are far superior to their female counterparts.
The men in the play disregard the women as just engaging in irrelevant matters, when in fact the
women find themselves delving headlong into the investigation and stumbling upon the motive for the
murder. The play having the name Trifles is ironic in that the men assume that the women are
concerned about petty womanish things that would never be of assistance to the investigation, when in
fact the womanish things turn out to be the evidence that would be necessary to prosecute Mrs.
Wright. The men search for what they suspect to cause the motives in similar situations with the
typical mindset of a man. While the men are wasting their time thinking like typical men of the time,
they ignore the obvious clues within Mrs. Wright s daily activities, such as her sewing, the dirty table,

  • 2. Understanding Cash Flows Understanding Cash Flows and Capital Budgeting DecisionsIndiana Wesleyan University FIN 310 01A Dr. Sam OjoOctober 19, 2014 Understanding Cash Flows and Capital Budgeting Decisions When evaluating cash flows for determining whether or not to pursue constructing a building to manufacture cupcakes there are several things to consider. The most important would be looking at a Grammy s incremental after tax cash flow. Then one needs to determine the projects initial outlay, the differential cash flows over the project s life, and the terminal cash flow. Also what needs to be looked at is what is the net present value and its internal rate of return. When making the capital budgeting decision for constructing a building to manufacture ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Why or Why Not? Yes it should be accepted. The construction of the building should be accepted. This is because the net present value is greater than one and the NPV is a positive number. This means that the construction project creates value and wealth. Also the internal rate of return is greater than the required rate of return. This means the project will be a benefit to Grammy s company. Genesis 47:18 19 (KJV), states, When that year was ended, they came unto him the second year, and said unto him, We will not hide it from my lord, how that our money is spent; my lord also hath our herds of cattle; there is not ought left in the sight of my lord, but our bodies, and our lands: Wherefore shall we die before thine eyes, both we and our land? Buy us and our land for bread, and we and our land will be servants unto Pharaoh: and give us seed, that we may live, and not die, that the land be not desolate. The people in the passage of scripture were explaining to their master what they had to offer him. The cash flow was completely gone for the previous year but they had ... • 3. Analysis Of Richard Powers Work Gain Is A Tour De Force... Richard Powers work Gain is a tour de force of whatever it is. I say this, rather than describing it as merely a novel, although that is precisely what it is, because Powers has herein created something more than your typical story. In this work, two seemingly unrelated paths are set on ambagious paths which will ultimately culminate in their intertwining. On one path we are presented with the apotheosis of a specific corporation s development, and on the other is the idiosyncratic life of an individual living in a place where this corporation has its hand on virtually everything. Herein Powers has presented what is probably the most riveting illustration of a fictional corporation s rise. In fact, it is so engrossed in detail that parts of it rival real corporate histories, such as The Great A P and Nature s Metropolis. The central question here is derived from more than everyday consumers being buffaloed by Machiavellian corporations. Rather, Powers ascertains the question of how have we come to be where we are? In doing so, Powers destroys the illusion that geography is solely composed of maps. His illustration of how a corporation can grow, and in seeming reaction to that growth an individual woman can wither, permeates the very texture of our lives. You see, it is this mode of production, for which we all possess profound disdain, that is the source of our everyday living and experiences. Long before you or I were born, business had already replaced nature as the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Truth In Politics Hannah Arendt Analysis According to the text On Lying Writing Philosophical History after the Enlightenment and after Arendt by Sophia Rosenfeld focuses on the works by Hannah Arendt. Arendt was a German Jewish intellectual who fled Germany with the rise of Adolf Hitler in 1933, lived in Paris as a stateless refugee and Zionist activist until 1941 and then fled to and settled in the United States (Isaac). Hannah Arendt addresses in an essay on Political Lying written at the end of the 1960 s and first years of 1970 s. During this time Arendt became an experienced world traveler. According to Rosenfeld Arendt famously gets a lot of her past wrong (Rosenfeld 220). However, Rosenfeld s study of Arendt s work is not to find error rather depict the history of the writing of the French enlightenment. The Truth in Politics written by Arendt provides a tour of various ancient and early modern thinkers, from Herodotus to Spinoza to James Madison, and of events in the profound and recent past to name a few (qtd. in Rosenfeld 218 230). The Truth in Politics expands upon Arendt s history of thought and politics and in her situation less between Europe Totalitarianism and post war American democracy (qtd. in Rosenfeld 218 230). Arendt resolves politics and deception link together in some way. Furthermore, not all lying past to present are identical in form or effect. In Truth and Politics Arendt stands firm on the position as she finds in total totalitarian regime all reality become phony and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are also some side affects that are not so common but have been seen after the use of Botox. a. Botox can cause double vision, loss of bladder control, and allergic reactions. b. Another side affect could be a headache. Which seems very ironic. Yet, it still helps a chronic migraine (Hendrick, Nichols, Allergan). Botox is proven to be affective in patients who suffer with chronic migraines more than 15 days a month. William Shakespeare successfully merges the acts of violence into a rational and coherent meaning and the audience can evidence that through the violence of act three, scene four in which the prince Hamlet of Denmark stabs and kills Polonius. Hamlet s act of violence not only serves to illuminate important aspects of the play but also accentuates and forces certain themes into play and adds great meaning to the work as a whole. This act of violence takes place in Gertrude s closet, where the queen and Polonius are waiting for Hamlet to arrive. It is worth mentioning that Polonius is hiding behind the arras in order to eavesdrop on the queen s and his son s conversation and in order to determine why Hamlet is recently behaving in a bizarre and threatening behavior. Watson and Crick discovered structure of deoxyribonucleic acid a substance that contains all hereditary information. A few months after the historic statement in the pub came a careful publication of the work of two researchers in the journal Nature (Watson and Crick 738 740). It is in this way two strands of DNA are connected together, that is opposite to thymine, one thread will always contain adenine from the other, and nothing else. The two strands of the Watson Crick model are complementary to each other, so that wherever an adenine appears on one strand, a thymine occurs directly opposite from it in the other strand (Garland 219). Watson and Crick got the Nobel Prize in1958. The discovery of the spatial structure of DNA revolutionized the world of science and led to many new discoveries without which it is impossible to imagine not only modern science, but also modern life as a whole. You may be walking to your car after a hard day at the job only to find an empty spot where you thought you left it. As you walk through the parking lot, hoping against hope that you may have parked it in another spot, the awful feeling finally sinks home: your car was stolen. They thought it couldn t happen to them because they acted on common car misconceptions about theft that left them without a car. Here are three of them: No One Will Steal My Car Because It s an Old Clunker There are at least two reasons why this is a myth. First, old cars are easier to steal because they lack the latest anti theft technology of the newest cars. While it s true that smart thieves do find ways of defeating state of the art anti theft devices, there are fewer of them around. It s basically a bell shaped curve thing. The vast amount of control within this government is split between the aforementioned three branches; and is also known as power. The definition of power as given by the Merriam Webster dictionary is [the] ability to act or produce an effect , which in the instance of power within the government would imply the ability to produce an effect on the economy or wellbeing of the United States of America. The question is though, is this division of power equal? The Executive branch employs more than four million people, the most famous being the President and the Cabinet. Their powers and responsibilities include conducting diplomacy with other countries, the executive order, nominating Supreme Court justices, and the enforcement of federal laws. Most of the power that the Executive branch exerts comes from the executive order, an order given by the President in times of national crisis that overrides almost everything; which can either be taken back by the President himself or be declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court, who is indirectly controlled by the Executive branch. Studies involving DBS are usually met with potential confounders as to the route of therapeutic intervention. The authors mentioned three, the first being the difficulty in determining specific circuits responsible due to the complexity of nervous tissue. Another being that DBS makes use of high frequency stimulation (HFS) which itself produces a myriad of changes in activity that can be hard to pin down in target cells. The final being that DBS creates artefacts through electrical stimulation that clouds target cell responses in neural circuits1. Parkinson s Disease (PD) is characterized by a loss of dopamine in the striatum that results in both motor and affective pathologies. Specifically modulated are the direct and indirect pathways in the basal ganglia. The indirect pathway is studied in this paper and comprises the global pallidus interna and its afferent synapses on the subthalamic nucleus.2 To address this aspect of PD and the aforementioned DBS issues the authors decided to make use of channel rhodopsins, halorhodopsins, optrodes and optical stimulation. To induce the PD symptoms, rodents were injected with 6 hydroxydopamine (6 OHDA) to induce hemi parkinsonian symptoms on the contralateral side and in vivo delivery of ChR2 and NpHR was done via lentiviruses. The researchers at the Roslin Institute, Scotland, announced that they had fruitfully cloned an adult mammal (Caplan 1 3). The procedure used in cloning is called somatic cell nuclear transfer. • 30. Critical Analysis Of Richard Georg Strauss s An Alpine... Richard Georg Strauss was born June 11th, 1864, he was one of the leading German composers of the late Romantic and early Modern eras. He is known for his operas such as Elektra, Die Frau one Schatten, and Salome. The composition I am going to analyze from Richard Strauss is his An Alpine Symphony. An Alpine Symphony begins in low volume, leaving me with a feeling of suspense. The instruments that commenced the piece was a fragment of the string section known as the second violins. The string section completely joined in but became over taken by a fragment of the brass section which was the trombones. The trombones played a long note, this theme reminds me of a funeral because of how silent the musicians are playing their instruments. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... New instruments were introduced in this section, the instruments introduced are the timpani and the crash cymbals. The timpani and crash cymbals are two members of the percussion section. The timpani and crash cymbals brought back a sentimental value to me, making me feel happiness because a few years ago, I learned how to play both instruments for the Knox Pride of Troy Band. The two instruments bring in excitement, the crashing of the cymbals and the rumble of the timpani are two loud figures, I believe this section represents the composers emotion when he was waking up from a long night of sleep. Strauss probably felt an attachment to the day time because it is possible that he did his best work during the day time. The xylophone was ultimately annexed during this section as the final member of the percussion section. Like the previous section Night , the light section began to annex in the french horns, trombones, and string section. The strings along with the timpani and trombone added a dramatic feeling making me feel warm inside because of how clear and filled with emotion they played. The light section ends with an allegro movement of the timpani, the woodwinds join in, and the trumpets are officially Partlow III introduced to end the section. The section kept a high volume, it would never drop, it would constantly rise piece by piece. One piece that did not effect me was the coda, because I was already used to the coda of the previous section, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Brown Shirt Essay Brown Shirts The most dynamic segment of the Nazi movements before it came to power was Sturmabteilung (SA) or Brown Shirts which protected Hitler s political meetings from the attacks by rivals (Campbell 659). SA functioned as a paramilitary wing of the Nazi party during the raise of Hitler in 1920s and 1930s. Their name Brown Shirts came after the uniform that they used which was inspired by the Mussolini s Black Shirts, and their main duty was to eliminate all the enemies and coordinated allies once the Nazis were in the control of the German state, 1933. In 1931, the captain of SA was changed and the new leader was Ernst Rőhm, who created a system structure in the SA by putting Hitler as the supreme leader of SA and then by putting himself as the chief of staff. Since SA grew while Rőhm was in charge, Rőhm started to believe that a revolution will happen and he would be on top of it (Hancock 2). Furthermore, he suggested SA and army to be combined for his new force, and this suggestion horrified senior officers. Senior officers of Reichswehr became horrified because traditionally they have seemed SA as street thugs without discipline and class who did bad things to humanity. Among these beliefs, Hitler also was concerned with the chief of SA who was becoming a threat for the Nazi party. All in all, Rőhm was not satisfied with Hitlers choices and he sends Hitler a letter writing that he is betraying everyone and that his commanders are not the ones who will lead to a revolution as SA would ( The Sturmabteilung or SA 5) . The fate of Rőhm changed after this letter was written since Hitler made a deal with Reichswehr and decided to get rid of officers of SA. This resulted to the Night of the Long Knives which took place in June 1934. The Night of Long Knives is known as the purge where SS or the first paramilitary army of Nazi Party arrests and kills the officers and the chief of SA which has been a threat for Hitler. The two commanding generals were similar in many ways, but were also very different. For example, General Ulysses S. Grant and General Robert E. Lee both graduated from West Point Military Academy, but Grant graduated twenty first in a class of thirty four in 1843, while Lee graduated second in his class of 1829. Another example would be that Grant had a reputation for being a tough fighter in battle who would never give up; while Lee was known for his knowledge in being able to know how to move an army quickly over many miles and had a great sense of when to attack and when to withdraw. Throughout the day, the Confederates battered the Union army, driving it back towards Pittsburg Landing and threatening to trap it against the Tennessee River. many troops on both sides had no experience in battle. The chances for a complete Confederate victory diminished as troops from Buell s army began arriving and Grant s command on the battlefield shored up the sagging Union line. Later in the middle of the afternoon, Johnston rode forward to direct the Confederate attack and was struck in the leg by a bullet, severing an artery and causing him to quickly bleed to death. General Pierre G. T. Beauregard assumed control, and halted the advance at nightfall. The Union army was driven back, but it did not back. Later that day, Grant was joined by the vanguard of the Buell s army. With an advantage in terms of troop numbers, Grant counterattacked on April 7. The tired Confederates slowly retreated, but they inflicted heavy casualties on the Yankees. • 35. Compare Washington Crossing The Delaware And The Quilt America, a country that could only be described as a quilt as it is made up of many different peoples. Sadly, equality and common respect is hard to come by in a nation full of different opinions, colors, and cultures. Through heart wrenching pathos, Leutze s painting Washington Crossing the Delaware and Quindlen s The Quilt signifies that while America may seem on the verge of breaking at times it manages to succeed through the unification of it s people. Leutze s painting, Washington Crossing the Delaware, conveys that the people of America can overlook their differences and hardship when being unified by hope. He uses pathos in the color contrast in his painting to inspire feelings of hope in the unity of America. Dark color seems to loom, almost pushing upon the ships in the painting. Nevertheless, light surrounds the ships, seeming to flow from the American flag on the first ship. The American flag is a symbol of hope for the men on these ships, each of them being drastically different. The men gathered on these ships are all drastically different . George Washington himself is there, a highly respected general among common folk and even an African American man. Each of these men different in race, rank, and opinion are unified under a flag that represents each different person as a single people for the hope that they can earn their freedom. Despite the pressing darkness the flag shines a light of hope as a symbol of unity for the people of America. The pathos used in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Thomas Jefferson s Affair With Sally Hemings Many historians and American alike tend to encircle the Founding Fathers of this nation in a shield of untouchable morality. With Thomas Jefferson, there is a particularly strong need for him to be seen as a man of outstanding character. However, Jefferson s personally life has long been plagued with stories of controversy, particularly his intimate life involving one of his slaves, Sarah, or Sally, Hemings. By examining the relationships of Thomas Jefferson, with strong attention to the Hemings family, it becomes clear that his intimate life is one of America s greatest historical scandals. In order to fully understand the most publicized controversy surrounding Thomas Jefferson, his affair with Sally Hemings, it is important to grasp his relationships with other women in his lifetime. In a work dedicated specifically to the women of Jefferson s life, historian Jon Kukla outlines the struggles that Jefferson experienced when faced with the building relationships with young women. He offers information regarding Jefferson s intimate life that many biographical texts do not include. His argument reaches beyond Sally Hemings and Martha Jefferson; it begins with Jefferson s youth, and his uncomfortable experiences with girls during his teen years. The first relationship that Thomas Jefferson ever hoped to engage in was with a young woman by the name of Rebecca Burwell. It represents little equality, with men assuming that they are far superior to their female counterparts. The men in the play disregard the women as just engaging in irrelevant matters, when in fact the women find themselves delving headlong into the investigation and stumbling upon the motive for the murder. The play having the name Trifles is ironic in that the men assume that the women are concerned about petty womanish things that would never be of assistance to the investigation, when in fact the womanish things turn out to be the evidence that would be necessary to prosecute Mrs. Wright. The men search for what they suspect to cause the motives in similar situations with the typical mindset of a man. While the men are wasting their time thinking like typical men of the time, they ignore the obvious clues within Mrs. Wright s daily activities, such as her sewing, the dirty table, and looking through the cabinets where they would have found the broken canary cage.
