The French Revolution And The End Of The Nineteenth Century
The French Revolution had general reasons basic to every one of the insurgencies of the West
toward the end of the eighteenth century and specific causes that clarify why it was by a wide
margin the most vicious and the most all around critical of these transformations. The main of
the general reasons was the social structure of the West. The primitive administration had been
debilitated orderly and had as of now vanished in parts of Europe. The inexorably various and
prosperous tip top of well off average citizens vendors, producers, and experts, frequently called
the bourgeoisie sought to political force in those nations where it didn t as of now have it. The
workers, large portions of whom claimed land, had accomplished an enhanced way of life and
instruction and needed to dispose of the last remnants of feudalism to obtain the full privileges of
landowners and to be allowed to expand their possessions. Moreover, from around 1730, higher
expectations for everyday life had diminished the death rate among grown ups impressively. This,
together with different variables, had prompted an expansion in the number of inhabitants in
Europe remarkable for a few centuries: it multiplied somewhere around 1715 and 1800. For France,
which with 26 million occupants in 1789 was the most populated nation of Europe, the issue was
generally intense. Voltaire [Credit: Stock Montage/Hulton Archve/Getty Images]A bigger populace

Compare And Contrast The Outsiders
How are the outsiders similar and different? The outsiders written by S.E hinton in 1967 a
classical novel. The Outsiders was brought to theaters in March 25, 1983 by Francis Ford

technically the opposite of the greasers the socs are higher class and richer than the greasers the

William Blake s The Chimney Sweeper Essay
William Blake s The Chimney Sweeper
William Blake s The Chimney Sweeper was mainly about the possibilities of both hope and faith.
Although the poem s connotation is that of a very dark and depressed nature, the religious imagery
Blake uses indicates that the sweeps will have a brighter future in eternity.
In lines 4 8 when Blake writes, There s little Tom Dacre, who cried when his head, That curled
like a lamb s back, was shaved: so I said Hush, Tom! never mind it, for when your head s bare

Then down a green plain a leaping and laughing, they run, And wash in the river and shine in the
sun. Then naked and white all their bags left behind, They rise upon clouds and sport in the
wind; When Blake wrote these lines he was of course referring to the act of Baptism. Which is
defined in the Bible as being a water ritual, used as a spiritual symbol. Through this process the
sweeps would be washed clean of all of their sins and also be cleansed of all of the bad things in
their lives including their jobs. And the Angel told Tom, if he d be a good boy, He d have God
for his father, and never want joy. This line of the poem indicates that if Tom was a good child
and did as he was told on Earth that he would not be forsaken by God as his parents had forsaken
him in his former life, but instead he would have everything he could ever possibly desire and
be completely content in his afterlife. And so Tom awoke; and we rose in the dark, And got
with our bags and our brushes to work. Though the morning was cold, Tom was happy and
warm; So if all do their duty they need not fear harm. Through these words Blake reveals hope
rather than despair because the focus is on immortality instead of life as a sweep. The little Sweep
s dream has the spiritual touch peculiar to Blake s hand.... (Gilchrist). As stated before Blake is

A Summary of the National Response Framework Essay
A Summary of the National Response Framework
Amber CotГ©
Pikes Peak Community College
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to become acquainted with the evolution of national incident
response over the last twenty years in America; and henceforth, gain a better understanding of
the current multi agency/multi discipline approach to national disasters and emergencies. This
summary briefly reviews the history of federal planning documents over the past twenty years as
context for the present day, National Response Framework; and then highlights the response
doctrine and its five principles, as it seems to encapsulate the National Response Framework
overall. Response doctrine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(NFP, January 2008, page 2 and 12) The NRP formed the basis for how the federal government
would coordinate with state, local and tribal governments and the private sector during the response
to a national incident. It was the cornerstone for the eventual maturation to the National Response
Framework. The NRP brought together best practices from a range of disciplines including:
homeland security, emergency management, law enforcement, firefighting, public works, public
health and the private sector and integrated them into one unified structure. This unified structure
provided the ability to coordinate federal support to state, local and tribal incident managers. (NFP,
January 2008, page 12)
President Bush s Homeland Security Presidential Directive Number 5 also ordered the development
of the National Incident Management System (NIMS), which continues to bring together federal,
state, local and tribal emergency responders into a single system for managing incidents. The
NIMS enables responders at all levels to work together more effectively to manage domestic
incidents no matter what the cause, size or complexity. (Homeland Security Under Secretary Kicks
Off National Response Plan Workshops In D.C. April 15, 2005)
The National Response Plan was then renamed the National Response Framework in 2008, to better

Endgame Essay
In Samuel Beckett s, Endgame, Nagg presents a comedic joke by saying that Look at the world
and look at my TROUSERS. (Beckett, 775) This moment is comedic because he s comparing the
creation of the earth to the amount of weeks it took the tailor to make his trousers. Furthermore,
this moment affected me emotionally since one of the central themes throughout the story is death.
There are many instances of juxtaposes between the earth and the beauty of man s creation.
Hamm, for example, repeatedly states that there is no cure for living on earth and even goes as far
as comparing this experience to hell. The way in which Hamm describes the existing environment
of living on earth is astounding to hear since this supports the idea that he doesn t view life as a
luxury.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The idea that it took God only six days to make the world yet it took the tailor several weeks to
make a pair of trousers was certainly comical. I, however, found it odd and strange to see the
perspectives of Nagg and Nell in terms of how they approached life. It s not that they don t want
to be alive, but in the same they don t necessarily want to be dead. They simply don t see a
purpose, which may explain why he inserts these unconventional and absurd jokes in his play.
This strange dynamic brings into question the idea that their existence doesn t have any great
significance to it. There are certainly other examples throughout the text that support this
hypothesis; however it goes back to the central idea of human existence. This scene in particular is
relevant to the entire story as it reinforces the contradictions of humans and death. By emphasizing
how pathetic the world is, Beckett is painting a catastrophic picture of the earth as well as the
consequences of living in this

The War Of The Persian Wars Essay
We had many revolutionary wars that shaped our world into becoming what it is today. The
Persian Wars were one of those unforgettable events that inspired not only our military structure
but government as well. The Persian Wars lasted for almost half a decade from 498 BCE to 448
BCE between the Persian Empire, of course, and Greek poleis. The war was centered around
expanding the Empire of Persia as it claimed and took over land within battle and then ruling it
as one while making a profit from it. Most of what we know about the Persian wars was written
by Herodotus, who was born 484 BCE and gives us our primary source of what really took place
during that time. The Persian Empire was the most powerful and aggressive power in the eastern
Mediterranean at the time. (Many Europes; pg 51). Before expanding the land, The Persian
Empire had land that expanded west of Asia and included Egypt. With the defeat of the Assyrians
Empire around 550 BCE with the leadership of King Cyrus, this gave them the name of the
Persian Empire. That s when the Empire began to expand its land and power with overtaking
many different city sates, like Lydians, Mesopotamians, and Babylonians, and incorporating them
into the Persian Empire. It wasn t until King Darius, who ruled from 521 BCE to 485 BCE,
started to rule that the invasions were directed to the Greece. Now many of the Greeks thought that
the Persian Empire was different and that was for a good reason. Not only did the empire have a

Howard Hughes and the Flight of the Spruce Goose
I want to be remembered for only one thing, Howard Robard Hughes once said, and that s my
contribution to aviation. (LIFE) Howard Hughes was known as a mysterious, inventive, and
reclusive character. Hughes was an American entrepreneur who became one of the most wealthiest
people during the 1930 s and 1940 s. Howard Hugheswas one of the most famous aviators of all
time with the production of his world wide known plane called the Spruce Goose . (Howard
Robard Hughes) Howard Hughes was born in Humble, Texas on December 24, 1905. Hughes
was very creative and ingenious, but an individualistic and private person. As a kid, he spent his
time drawing automobiles, trains, planes, and boats. His father, Howard Senior, invented a new
type of drill bit for the booming oil industry. The Sharp and Hughes Company was created, and
quickly expanded in Texas, California, and other states. His mother, Allene, isolated Hughes from
the real world with her relentless fears of germs, disease, and death. At the age of fourteen,
Hughes was deeply interested in mechanics and engines. He inherited the love of creating
technical solutions from his father. As a way to resist his mother to refuse to buy him a
motorcycle, he turned his bicycle into a motorized bike. Howard Hughes showed that he disliked
school but loved tinkering with any kind of machine. One day, his father took him on an airplane
flight. It was one of the most important events in Howard s life. He was finally flying.

Food Apps And The Apple App
With technology nowadays, the production and use applications, or simply apps, have become
widely popular. Being that I am a Computer Science major, and have myself created a mobile
application and a handful of web applications, I know the power of this stuff and how they are
able to reach and affect millions of people all over the planet. As wise ones once said: With great
power comes great responsibility. We must create and use this technology boom and creation of
applications to benefit human life, not harm it. I believe we started to do this with the creation of
foodapps. The power to spread beneficial knowledge about food can reach everyone with the tap
of a finger. Healthy food practices and the awareness of organic foods can change people lives
through an app. However, some food apps fail to do such. Some apps are more profit focussed
rather than morality focused. I will cover the strengths and weaknesses of three food apps in the
Apple App Store, one Monterey Bay Aquarium s SeafoodWatch, EAT24, and Yummly. First we
will go over Seafood Watch. The first weakness I immediately notice (note this may be a biased
opinion based on my app development experience) is the user interface. The app is not all that
pretty, and nowadays the top apps are also the most beautiful. Besides that, the applications
contents are really good. I am able to search for different kinds of seafood, and also learn a lot
about that particular breed of fish. On the home screen, there is a

Indentured Servants During Early Colonial Times
Indentured Servants Indentured servants were used in early colonial times as a means of
passage to the new world. The cash crops of the early settlers were exhaustingly labor intensive.
In fact, U.S. History (2015) indicated that the growth of tobacco, rice, and indigo and the
plantation economy created a tremendous need for labor in Southern English America (p. 1).
The technology did not exist at the time for machinery that clears the ground and works the land
as it does today. The work had to be done by hand; from clearing and prepping the fields to
harvesting the crops, it was all manual labor for which the new land did not have ample supply
of. Coming to the New World Life in England during the early 1600 s was harsh for a multitude
of the poor. The country was just coming out of the Thirties Year s War with a flood of citizens
and laborers displaced. In fact, PBS (2015) indicated that the timing of the Virginia colony was
ideal. The Thirty Year s War had left Europe s economy depressed, and many skilled and
unskilled laborers were without work. A new life in the New World offered a glimmer of hope;
this explains how one half to two thirds of the immigrants who came to the American colonies
arrived as indentured servants (para. 3). This opportunity for those willing to receive free passage
to the New World and start a new life was enticing. Granted, the work was difficult it was not
without reward. The majority of these servants that survived the trip and his

Essay On Welfare Drug Testing
Drug Testing Welfare Recipients Why do people that are working have to pass a drug test while
those on welfare do not? This is the question that is causing a lot of debate across the country
and throughout congress. Many working class Americans are outraged at the current welfare
policies and believe something needs to change. There are always going to be people on
government assistance who are abusing the system and who are using drugs while not working.
Something needs to change so we can actually help families who need assistance, not those who
are abusing drugs and the system. Therefor, I believe that states should require drug testing of all
individuals on welfare since those who are supporting them have to pass a drug test. Drug testing
welfare recipients has been an idea since 1996 when congress changed the welfare system and
allowed for the possibility to drug test applicants for Temporary Assistance for Needy Families

One major argument is that it wont affect the parents receiving welfare, but instead the children.
Approximately 81.5 percent of those receiving (TANF) have children. With that many having
children, they are bound to see the biggest impact of drug testing since the money is supposed to
pay for food, clothing, and shelter. Some say that it will cause children to struggle and possibly
go hungry. Another reason that some people are against drug testing welfare recipients is that it
will cost more than it saves. Such as in Florida where drug testing actually cost the state money.
Each drug test cost around thirty dollars and with so many applicants it ended up costing the state
forty five thousand dollars (Greenblatt). This is a lot of money that could have went back into the
program. These are two of the several reasons that some are against the testing of welfare

Workers were usually male immigrants, free blacks, and slaves and most only worked for less
than 6 months. Those who worked were usually desperate for a job to put food on the table. In
the next chapters, the struggles of women and children are outlined. The jobs for women of the
early 1800 s consisted of sewing, washing, cleaning, cooking, and reproducing the next
generation of laborers. In , a rise in domestic service also ensued within black or white, free and
enslaved women. These women were hired as servants, nannies, and maids. Children also began
working as well. Orphans were often used as domestic servants and teen apprentices. The Female
Association Charity School taught destitute girls who were raised on streets to read, write, cipher,
sew. They were also trained to be domestic servants and then hired in the future. Women were paid
much less than men, because it was thought that they were dependent of their husbands; it was
unheard of to have female breadwinners . Factory accidents, crime, abandonment, and abuse from
husbands left women desperate to support children. The wages that seamstresses had in early 17th
century Baltimore was not a living wage. It was not substantial enough to support themselves or
their children. So in 1833, women held strike and refused to work only worked if employers paid
them wages equal that of to men. The results of the protest was not what was hoped. Women were

Carbon Dioxide And Its Effects On The Environment
It is a recorded fact that the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere today is at the highest
level ever recorded or studied. The large number of invasive carbon dioxide molecules is causing
detrimental problems in the environment. This gas is linked to the Earth s drastically rising
temperatures, causing the rising sea level and thousands of arctic animals to lose their homes. This
is an unignorable problem that needs great minds who are passionate and determined in this field.
The most substantial problems mankind has faced were solved by hard working and dedicated
scientists. The inevitable problems caused by the huge carbon dioxideconcentration is a problem
that can be solved in the same way. I believe that by gaining knowledge in this field it would give
me the ability to create a way to reverse the carbon cycle, by developing a synthetic plant of sorts.
By doing this, not only could the greenhouse effect be prevented from further damaging the
environment, but we may also keep the amount of Carbon Dioxide in the air to a minimum. I
hope to be a lot like the great scientists of this earth due to my determined and passionate nature,
and with the right schooling and research I would like to be a part of the research to try and solve
this critical problem.

The American Dream in What’s So Great About America and...
The American Dream is so many different things to so many different people. While other
countries around the World would like to argue that Americans only aspiration is to become
infinitely wealthy, Dinesh D Souza claims that it is not wealth that Americans want. He believes
that it is simply a better life. Michael Moore too acknowledges Americans ambition, especially his
own, to create a better life for themselves. These two views of the American Dreamcome from very
opposite Americans, but it is their differences that make their ideals so beautifully unique.
To begin the comparison between these two authors, I will first examine Moore s ideology. As it
is obviously stated in the title of his book, Moore is not exactly subtle person. ... Show more content

D Souza, on the other hand, is an avid supporter of his image of the American Dream and its
presence in America. Dinesh explains the popularity of the American Dream worldwide is because
people wish for, the American wayof life. (D Souza, 73) As if it was coming from a foreigner, he
continues to exemplify the American Dream as an outsider looking in and seeing all of the
splendor and appeal of Americans lives. It is this enchantment that causes people from all ends of
the Earth to migrate to the United States and even leave their families and traditions. The most
emphasized element and essentially the core of the American Dream is the ability to, write the
script of your own life. (D Souza, 83) The writer gives his own real life example of the American
Dream, through his emergence as a writer and later a White House Staff member simply because he
pursued his own dream. Through the constant comparisons with the inequalities present in
countries throughout the World, D Souza is fascinated with the diversity of America and the,
tolerant society , that this diversity has spawned. (D Souza, 94)
Immediately it is obvious that these two interpretations of the current status of the American Dream
are nearly political polar opposites. Michael Moore mercilessly attacks the government s refusal to

The Expectancy Theory Of Motivation In Remember The Titans
Immanuel Wilder

Dr. Creasy
BA 133
Remember the Titans The Expectancy Theory illustrates the mental process that employees endure
when making decisions while doing voluntary things. The theory describes that the effort will
determine the performance and the performance will help indicate the overall outcome.
Expectancy represents the belief that exerting a high level of effort will result in the successful
performance of some task, (Dr. Creasy PowerPoint). There are some advantages of the expectancy
theory. One advantage is that it emphasizes on rewards or pay offs, (Expectancy Theory of
Motivation, n.d., para. 5). In Remember the Titans, Coach Herman Boone, portrayed by Denzel
Washington, expects big things out of his high school football team. As the newly appointed
head coach and a black man, Coach Boone was faced with big expectations or else he would have
to face the consequences. Coach Boone established that his team would show tremendous effort in
the fall football camp at Gettysburg College. He set ground rules as he told all of his players that
they would leave the school by 7:29 AM and made them all wear dress shirts, ties, and a jacket.
Coaches appreciate the athletes that display the expectancy theory because they want more out of
their team. At Gettysburg College, All American linebacker Gerry Bertier, confronted fellow
starting linebacker, Julius Campbell and wanted him to put in more effort during practice and play
the right assignment. As

Symbolism In The Faerie Queene
Intentions of The Faerie Queene In The Faerie Queene , Spencer Edmund produces an allegory.
His intention was to relate England in the 1590s to a mythical land in which each character had a
symbolic meaning as well as the events they were undergoing. He lived in an era where Roman
Catholicism was replaced with Protestantismand he dedicated himself to unconsciously teach and
educate his readers the Catholic Churchwas corrupted and was the wrong religion to follow. For
this reason, he gave each character a common role who would relate to anyone in England and
showed the readers how his role in the story symbolized good or evil. The themes he expressed in
his books talked about his interpretation in religion, politics, symbolism, and his dedication to make
his allegoryas influential as possible. As mentioned before, Spencer s feelings about Catholicism
were extremely important because in time, England s religious beliefs represented the aspects and
motivations of the good and evil. Being the reason why England separated from the Catholic
church and formed the Protestant Church, since they defined Catholicism to be evil and dirty.
This is when he decided to share his beliefs and write several books that could be interpreted to
reveal a hidden moral message. It was a genius idea because he described the protagonists to be
knights and princesses as protestants, and the antagonists to be evil snakes and the devil himself
that symbolized the Catholic Church. It is typical to

National Security in Foreign Policy
Foreign policy definition: a set of political goals that aims to outline how a particular state will
interact with others
Beach (2012): Foreign policy actions can be undertaken using a variety of different instruments,
ranging from adopting declarations, making speeches, negotiating treaties, giving other states
economic aid, engaging in diplomatic activity such as summits, and the use of military force
No matter which instruments are used, the primary objective of states in outlining their foreign
policies is to maximise their national security.
States can go about maximising national security through different means such as by military force,
economic prosperity and/or the general welfare of its people.
Difficult to analyse to what extent national security is a primary objective of states theories of IR

Fergie s music video MILF $ and Michael Buble s music video Close your Eyes.
Stuart Price wrote that representation is the way in which ideas, objects, people, groups and life
forms are depicted by the mass media and is the method used by the mass media to create
meanings. In other words, representation is the mediation of visual and technical codes to
construct a certain depiction of an aspect of reality. Since the first music videos in the 1970 s,
music videos have repeatedly been criticised for heavily sexualized representations of women. A
2012 study by Cynthia Frisby found that sexual representations of women were common even when

Buble has almost a sense of equality running through Close your Eyes; there are no lingering
camera shots on women s bodies (Mulvey) or performances of gender (Judith Butler) but rather
Buble represents different races, ages, genders and sexualities without a sense of bias or
stereotyping and therefore Close your Eyes can be read as a feminist text. MILF $ has an
enormous focus on the way that the women featured in the video look and this relates to the
beauty myth (Naomi Wolf) as it pressures women into looking a certain way, even if this
appearance is unobtainable or unrealistic, but Close your Eyes challenges the beauty myth with
non stereotypical beauty i.e. a mid shot of an old Mexican couple dancing and laughing. Both
music videos include a representation of a female teacher. Close your Eyes denotes a long shot
of a teacher supportively looking at students work and reassuring him with a hand on the
shoulder, whereas MILF $ denotes Fergie dressed in a short skirt and red heels dancing sexually
through a classroom of all teenage boys. MILF $ almost uses the awareness that the term is well
known to be associated with porn and includes shots like the sexy teacher, the breastfeeding mum,
the mum receiving a massage and the waitress to be controversial and maybe to take back
ownership of their sexuality (third wave feminist view). Close

The Effects Of Domestic Violence On Children Essay
Domestic violence is a crime of either passion or violence which should never be tolerated by
anybody if at all the society is to be made safe enough for people to live in. Domestic violence can
be defined as any threatening, abusive, or violent behavior in the home either between adult
children and other adult family members (Gibbons, 2011). It can also be used by one intimate
partner to establish power and control over the other partner through fear and intimidation.
Domestic violencecan happen anywhere to anyone of any race, religion, culture, or economic status.
It can occur in any relationship, including heterosexual, gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender and
also within extended families (Women s Aid 2010). It affects both partners, their children, other
family members, friends, and colleagues. Although emotional abuse in a relationship can happen
equally regardless of gender, the more threatening and dangerous forms of domestic violenceare
usually committed by a man against a woman (Patriarchal Roots, n.d). Often the aggressor in a
violent relationship feels a high level of ownership over the other partner and the children which
too often results in injury or death if this person tries to end the relationship or report the violence.
Unfortunately, children are not left out and many times they fall victims of abuse or sexual assault
(Sexual violence against women, n.d). This can be very traumatizing to the children and they might
grow up in fear of being abusers

Differences in Ethical, Legal, Regulatory Issues in B2B...
Differences in Ethical, Legal, and Regulatory Issues in Business to Business and Business to
Consumer Web Sites Like traditional brick and mortar establishments, business to business (B2B)
and business to consumer (B2C) Web sites face ethical, legal, and regulatory concerns. Although
both B2B and B2C sites share similarities in web based jurisdictional issues and general ethical
considerations, each site has its own specific concerns due to the end user relationship of the
consumer versus business (Schneider, 2004). Whether the end user is a business or consumer, there
is usually a transaction or sale of a particular product or service. Since the Internet launches online

The B2B environment might have concerns such as non disclosure agreements with vendors,
electronic copyright issues, and vendor agreements. Since the business might have a vendor in
another country, it would also be important for the business to be cognizant of international
business laws. Both businesses involved in the B2B relationship might also want to ensure that
business contract language establishes which laws will govern any issues concerning jurisdiction
in case of litigation. Schneider (2004) also notes that international business confuses the tax laws
for many organizations conducting business on the Web (p. 316). Unlike the B2B relationship,
B2C e tailers would not likely have concern regarding contracts as consumers purchase product
directly from a business. Many business Web sites contain information for consumers to peruse
such as privacy policy information, a disclaimer, or terms and conditions for using the site.
Privacy also falls under legal issues for the B2C relationship and, some countries are far more
restrictive than others in terms of what type of information collection is acceptable and legal
(Schneider, 2004, p. 316). Consumers enter credit card and other personal information through
electronic retail sites, so it is essential for the site to be secure. Other legal issues that might arise in
the B2C relationship include misrepresentation of company products or services. Regulatory

Historical Background And Point Of View
Authorial/Historical Background and Point of View Fittingly born on Abraham Lincoln s
birthday, James L. Swanson has always had a fascination of our 16th president s life. At only ten
years old, Swanson s grandmother gave him a very peculiar gift for a child: a framed engraving
of Booth s Deringer pistol, along with an April 15, 1865 Chicago Tribune clipping. The newspaper
story he received relived the terrible day of Lincoln s death, but as Swanson read, he realized the
ending of the story was lost. Swanson was fascinated, and felt a need to know the fate of his
favorite president, and the hunt for knowledge began. As the author continues to recount in his
acknowledgements, that gift sparked a passion within him culminating with the publication of
Manhunt on 2006. Despite the author s obvious enjoyment of the subject, a resurgence of interest
in the life and death of Honest Abe has recently gripped the United States. In the twenty first
century so far, dozens of novels, including Abraham Lincoln: A Life, The Gettysburg Gospel: The
Lincoln Speech That Nobody Knows, and Swanson s own Manhunt have gripped the nation, some
of them being New York Times Bestsellers. Even the film business has profited by this surge of
attention with 2012 s Lincoln starring Daniel Day Lewis. This interest is in part due to the political
divide plaguing the United States in the stark contrasts of opinion between Republicans and
Democrats. Abraham Lincoln saved the country from the biggest

herself as Chicana. She responded by saying that she was born in the U.S. but her parents and

Primary Source: ASS SHOT In 2005, the first issue of the series All Star Batman And Robin, the
Boy Wonder by author Frank Miller and illustrator Jim Lee was published by DC Comics. In this
initial installment, Batman/Bruce Wayne s main love interest, the red headed and curvaceous
Vicki Vale, is introduced in a sequence in which she walks around her apartment wearing only
pink lingerie and high heels. One panel of the sequence is, noticeably, a close up of Vale s
buttocks in tight underwear (Miller and Lee). Nine years later, Miller s original instructions to
Lee regarding the close up panel were included in a special edition of a collection of the comics:

In 2012 DC Comic s readership was found to be 93% male and 98% over the age of 18
(Hudson); the statistics were likely similar at the time of the comic s release. Given this data,
along with the fact that the pronoun we, as opposed to they, includes Miller and Lee among
Vale s admirers, the we in the script is clearly adult heterosexual males. Miller wants his straight
male readers to be so arrested by the image of Vale s buttocks that they are unable to look away.
He makes explicit the goal of the panel: to appeal directly to the male gaze and thus totally
engage the comic s readership. An additional important detail is the inclusion of speech bubbles
with an image not of Vale s face or hands, parts of her body with agency and expression, but with
an image of her lingerie clad buttocks. In a sense, Vale s buttocks are the part of her that is
addressing the reader; they are, in Miller s estimation, a suitable embodiment of her character.
Unsurprisingly, no panels with close ups of Batman s buttocks as he speaks are included in the

Special Interest Group Theory Vs Public Interest Theory
I.Review Questions Public Interest vs. Special Interest Theory of Government Policy in Health Care
1.Contrast the predictions of the public interest and economic theories of government with regard
to redistributive policies.
There are two general economic models that describe why the government intervenes in market
based health care, known as public interest theory and special interest group theory. Public interest
theory allows the government to promote the general interest of society as a whole and chose
policies that enhance both efficiency and equity (Santerre Neun, 2013). The theory predicts that the
public interest is best severed when the government determines market failure and corrects
instances in the market when resources ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the matter of justifying the use of government subsidies for medical education to ensure
proper allocation of resources the argument can be made that if I am required to pay for a
service that does not directly benefit me then an externality occurs. For example, if the state of
GA decides to increase their sales tax and use the additional revenue to target smoking cessation
amongst Medicare users to aid in decreasing the overall cost of healthcare consumption, then I as
a non smoker and non Medicare recipient am paying for a service that I directly do not need and
gain no value from as I am not directly involved in the transaction. Because the goal of the
subsidy is to create an incentive for more buyers to engage in a socially beneficial activity
(Santerre Neun, 2013), if I am already engaged in the socially beneficial activity, paying the cost
for other buyers to engage in the activity through medical education is an otherwise non beneficial
factor. From this perspective, it can be assumed that the benefit is concentrated on a targeted
population, but the general population at large, a high percentage who are not in the targeted
population are incurring costs that will go uncompensated for in the private market (Santerre
Neun, 2013). The majority of individuals who do not drive, or do not drive long distances are
elderly and have a higher probability of receiving

White Privilege Vs White Race
Inequality has two components in respect to power, privilege and social status: political
imbalance at a social level and prejudice on the individual level. Race superiority in regards to
white privilege by its very nature is a flawed premise! There is no white race; we are all a mixture
of our ancestors DNA; by some estimates ninety or more percent of us are technically mixed race.
In my own family of origin we have identified our origins to include, but not limited to: American
Indian, Irish, Scottish, Brazilian, Welsh, German, Scandinavian and Dutch. I was not raised with

about by individual and group behaviors, not skin color. What we might try, is to stop fueling
the ideology of white privilege. If future generations (me included) raise our children with an

The Journey Of Self Discovery By Jane Tompkins
The journey to self discovery can be a laborious, grueling journey filled with opposition for the
surrounding aspects of everyday life, including hostility towards yourself. Whether this phase
persists through youth or old age; everyone must find their own niche in a world where being
yourself is a rarity, and portraying someone else is a commodity. This fact is prevalent through Jane
Tompkins novel, A Life in School: What the Teacher Learned, as the reader is immersed in the path
to self discovery and acceptation through a teacher s eyes. Tompkins portrays her life to us through
an introspective dissertation where attacks the school system and all it enthralls.
In the 5th grade, I became infatuated with orca whales; I knew everything there was to know about
them. One day in class, a fellow student started demeaning them and making false accusations. I
was a relatively quiet student but that day I found my voice. Although I was naГЇve, I was able to
stand my ground and defend something that I believed. Tompkins had an undeniably similar
experience to mine when her students criticized a book which she thought was amazing. At last I
was fighting for myself...It was exhilarating to be able to throw my weight behind a position that
had something to do with my own life... (107). I believe that this was the moment that Tompkins

Sexual Politics Around Teddy Girl Identity
Introduction
The Ted trend during the 1950s corresponds to a transitional time, when popular culture was
associated with the working class. This class related understanding of taste and propriety
surrounding the Teds, almost caused Teddy Girls to be written out of history because attention
focused on working class male aggression. Media representation classified teds as a male
movement, which provided no female role models to perpetuate the trend. The Sexual politics
around Teddy Girl identity relates to how popular culturecan be used and created by women, but
also how academic analysis approaches this and subsequently situates women in relation to popular
culture. Gender and class hierarchy can impose subject and object readings of ... Show more content

Photographic evidence (Russell 1955, Mayne 1956) depicts female Teddy Girls, and Horn s
research into post war youth culture shows similar strong female presence: A mass observation
diary from 1949 described a London dance hall [...] where there was an equal split between male
and female (2010: 118). Although how widespread this was, is hard to say. The location and
dates of the photos show that the women were early to mid 1950s London East End Teds, but
Russell s photographs were uncovered in 2006, which demonstrates how lack of resources caused
disproportionate attention to Teddy Boys, further cementing the trend as male. The academic
neglect of women in subcultures has been addressed by Garber and McRobbie (2000). The
invisibility of women in popular culture could originate from Hoggart s Uses of Literacy (1957),
which situates interest in music and socialising outside home as a male pastime. Teddy Girls also
attract less commentary because, unlike ted boys, the method of transmitting identity (clothing) did
not differ from middle class young women. The violence and aggression of Teddy Boys in marking
working class territory (Jefferson 2006: 68) attracted attention, because it directly conflicted with
middle class behaviour. So, females were unnoticed and continued to use consumption of popular
culture through clothing and music, to exert cultural identity. Mungham s work focusses on the
generational and class aspects within popular culture and acknowledges

A Successful Training Plan for Landslide Limousine Company
Introduction The purpose of this report is to communicate a successful training plan to Bradley
Stonefiled for his Landslide Limousine company. The report will contain three sections in the main
body: Needs Assessment, Training Methods and Evaluation Strategies. This report will contain all
the necessary information to put this company on the right track and begin enjoying a competitive
advantage once implemented and running at full capacity.
Needs Assessment Before any training begins, it is absolutely necessary that the problems are
identified so as to create a plan that specifically addresses these needs. Blindly training people on
random tasks does nothing to accomplish any mission. Only when focus and precise training is
applied in the correct area, will the organization begin to grow into something stronger. Brown
(2002) wrote to identify specific problem areas in the organization, HR and management must know
what the problems are so that the most appropriate training will be directed to those organizational
problems, (p.569.). The needs assessment portion of this training plan is further divided into five
different areas of interest. These include: Environmental analysis, organization analysis,
demographical analysis, operational analysis and individual analysis. Each part is important, and
when combined, present a comprehensive view of what is needed at Landslide.
Environment

murdered or disappeared in Atlanta, Georgia (Nickell 1 of 2). Due to the various motives that
each murder presented, it was believed that multiple individuals were responsible for these
crimes. However only 1 person was ultimately charged with these homicides. The person that
was found responsible for 2 of the many murders is Wayne Williams. He was suspected and
subsequently arrested after police heard a splash in the water under a bridge on May 22, 1981,

1995). Although some researchers argue that service quality is an individual judgement, defined
purely by the customer about the excellence or superiority of a service provider s performance
(A. Finn, 2005), brand image and how the service is communicated to consumers still appears to
be the most effective form of customer loyalty; with 59% of consumers admitting to utilizing a
particular service through advertisements seen on the television, billboards etc (P. Edelin, 2011).
This is as a result of the promise/proposition the brand provides that specific service to a set of
consumers; thus British Airways should aim to maintain a strong brand identity in order to preserve
long term customer loyalty, as well as maintain a nationwide appeal in order to reduce overall
perceived risk (Sweeney, 2000). This combined with a thoughtful and high quality service to ensure
customer satisfaction, will not only encourage positive word of mouth communication amongst
targeted consumers (Siddiqi, 2011), but increase the customer s willingness to purchase the service

Darkling Thrush
In the poem Darkling Thrush by Thomas Hardly has some great and true statements about the
world crummy. According to the online Google dictionary crummy mean dirty, unpleasant, or of
poor quality. The main theme I got from this poem is how he talks about how can you be happy in
a world full of stuff that s falling apart.
In Darkling Thrush, the speaker also show how people in the world is moving too fast and no
actually enjoy moments in their life. They tend to let death take their life away befre even enjoying
the world and its nature. He also goes to say things go from dull and depressing to outright
dismal. This poem also shows that you must live your life for you and not other people or try to
follow what others are doing. The decision

Descriptive Essay On The Day
On a late night, about 10:30. I make my bed and let my dog out to go to the bathroom. After
letting her out, I lay in bed hoping to have a good dream. I take off my glasses and turn off my
lamp, and turn off my wax burner because my mini poodle does not like the light that it emits, and
she likes the moon light. I am walkingdown the school hall, heading from the English classroom
to the library. The hall is empty with no one in sight. I m going to the library to go print out
something for english but I am unsure of what. There is an oval object against the wall on the
right, it gives off the same effect as a heat wave on top of a car. I turn to the orb, and look at it
blankly. My fingers just an inch away, about to touch it, then I wake up. I get ready for school,
wake up at 5:40, play on my phone, get dressed, let the dogs out, eat breakfast, brush teeth, and
walk out the door. The day is boring as normal. I get to English and remember that my new copy
of my I am Famous is due. I ask the teacher if it is okay to get it printed. After a moment of
contemplating in her head, she just agrees. She replies in a rushed way Okay, go quick. I walk
down the hall and look down at my phone texting my friend. Ugh, school is so stressful. Out of
the corner of my eye I see something odd, when I look up there it is, the orb shimmering. I look
around to check if anyone is around to see it. No one, not even a single soul in sight. I take the
chance, walk over to it, and stare at it

several kinds of complementary financial services including insurance, financial planning, and
bookkeeping.
What form of business organization (textbook, pp. 8 9) would you suggest each of the three
friends should use, and why? (12 marks) A corporation business form is suitable for the friend
who wants to start a restaurant. There are some advantages for corporation: first, a corporation
is distinct from its owners. The corporation can own property, borrow, and enter into contracts.
Second, the shareholders have limited liabilities, unlike other business form, they are just liable
for the amount they invested. Third, it s easier to loan money for a corporation than other
business form. A sole proprietorship business form is good for the friend who wants to be a
subcontract in a building trade. Subcontractor means a person or a business which has a contact
with a contractor to provide some portion of the work or services on a project which the contract
has agreed to. In the subcontractor friend case, the friend can set his business as a sole
proprietorship which is a firm owned by an individual or a family. All of the business s assets and

First, I would tell Lisa and Dillon to watch for symptoms of blue color to the skin and shortness
of breath. If she shows blue tinged skin and shortness of breath then you should put the baby s
knees up to her chest and lay the baby on her side. This helps increase blood flow to her lungs.
Then you can call for paramedics. This is an emergency.
Secondly, I would explain how the Tetralogy of Fallot affects oxygenand blood flow in Mandy s
body. Tetralogy of Fallot is a defect that decreases pulmonary blood flow by four abnormities.
These include: pulmonary valve stenosis which involves the narrowing of the pulmonary valve.
This reduces blood flow to the lungs. Ventricular septal defect is a hole in the wall that separates

Ratifying The Constitution Essay
Although the constitution was written over 200 years ago, the constitution continues to form the
foundation to our modern day america. Nowadays the general consensus is that the constitution is a
reliable document that is still relevant to this day. However the trust that we now place in the
constitution wasn t always present. During the time of its ratification there were two political
factions ,the Federalists and the Anti Federalists, whose view on the power vested by the
constitution clashed. Creating a massive political debate that would shape the future of the nation.
The Federalist were people who believed that a strong centralized government would be necessary
for the united states to prevail. This desire for a strong central government was actually the driving
force behind the creation of the constitution in an attempt to replace the articles of confederation.
This is why the constitution gives so much more power to the federal government.
The Anti Federalists took the exact opposite view seeing a strong centralized government as a fatal
flaw that would leave to the united states to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to calm the Anti Federalist s concerns over an abusive regime, the constitution was
amended to include a list of the basic rights of the people. This came to be known as the bill of
rights. Two specific amendments included in the bill of rights that eased the Anti Federalist s
worries were the first and the tenth. The first amendment secured some of the most important rights
of individual. Specifically an individual s right to speech, expression, assembly, and petition all of
which are essential to checking a government that is becoming too powerful. The tenth amendment
secured the rights of the states. Giving states control of the powers not wielded by the federal
government. These amendments along with all others included in the bill of rights secured a

Transracial Adoption In Canada
Canada is widely known as the first country in the world to adopt multiculturalism; being supportive
of all ethnicities and races, while encouraging a peaceful community and promoting cultural
education. However, there is a major gap in the country s history that hides one of the most
controversial issues to date the cultural genocide of the Indigenous community. Public information
regarding this topic remains limited and insufficient, providing little insight on the discrimination
and inequality the Indigenous community has faced, and continues to face today. Particularly, the
issue lies in the failure to provide information on Child Welfare and its related causes, including the
residential school act, the sixties scoop, transracial adoption... Show more content on

Of those, fewer than half about 44 per cent lived with at least one foster parent who identified as
Indigenous. Provinces with a higher proportion of Indigenous children also had more Indigenous
kids in foster care (Yukselir, 2016). The remainder lived in a situation where they were a transracial
adoptee, meaning they were placed in a household with parents that had a different racial or ethnic
group from their own. While transracial adoption usually concludes with positive adjustment
outcomes for adoptees, for Aboriginal transracial adoptees, adoption tends to result in consistently
negative outcomes. Many transracial adoptees of the Sixties Scoop era where Aboriginal children
were apprehended in disproportionate numbers throughout Canada and adopted into non Aboriginal
homes in Canada, United States and overseas, now adults, have contacted Aboriginal child
welfare agencies as they aim to reunite with their birth families. A large proportion of former
adoptees first point of contact is through addiction services and street agencies (Gilchrist, 1995).
Many adoptees are facing identity issues because of being socialized and acculturated into a
middle class white society (Hall, 1995; Gilchrist, 1995; Richard, 1998). For transracial adoptees,
identity issues are exacerbated by the factors that arise in seeking out birth family and cultural
ties (Fournier Crey, 1997; Hall, 2003). According to Bagley (1993), the core of the issue for
adoptees is being reacquainted with the most marginalized and oppressed group within Canadian
society . This, he argues, aggravates the already problematic identity issues that Aboriginal
adoptees experience. Finally, transracial adoption causes poor socio economic factors, as well as
psychological, emotional, and mental factors that confront the adoptee as an adult, as well as
facing racism and racial identity issues. Transracial aboriginal research has yet to

Nathan Hale s Last Words
I only regret that, I have but one life to lose for my country . These were Nathan Hale s last
words before he was hanged by the British army for espionage in 1776. Nathan Hale, born on
June 6th, 1755 in Coventry, Connecticut, spent much of his life serving for the public good. After
graduating from Yale University with honors in 1773, he decided to become a teacher and was so
for about three years. However, shortly after Great Britain began imposing a variety of taxes on the
colonies in order to pay off the debt following the French and Indian War, the future Americans
came to find themselves calling for complete independence, beginning the American Revolution.
Once the war began, Hale immediately quit his job and enlisted in the... Show more content on

He had a job that he liked and he was making a fair amount of money with it. He could have kept
this lifestyle and been very successful. However, he cared so much about the Patriot cause that he
decided to drop everything that he had worked for his whole life and join the revolutionary forces.
A little after a year of joining the Continental Army, commander George Washington came to
realize that he needed to find out where the British were planning to go so his forces can stop
them. At that moment he called upon Lt.Col. Thomas Knowlton to recruit some members of his
rank to act as spies. However, Knowlton did not want to do this, as he told Washington: I m
willing to fight the British and, if need be, die a soldier s death in battle, but as for going among
them in disguise and being taken and hung up like a dog, I ll not do it. This is where Nathan Hale
stepped in. He disguised himself as a Dutch schoolteacher and soon crossed enemy lines in an
attempt to find out vital information about the British army for the Continental forces. Every soldier
knew, including Nathan Hale, the dangers of spying as they were considered to be illegal and if
they were caught they could be subject to execution. This is precisely why Knowlton did not let
his ranks partake in this activity. He knew the risks and how dangerous it was. However, despite
Nathan Hale having knowledge of the risks involved, he put them all aside as he cared about the

1.0INTRODUCTION
In this current era, businesses play the most important role in developing a country s reputation. It
is because a nation s wealth is determined by concerning on certain aspects as one of it is the
economical factor. As far as we know, businesses are the main sectors of a nation where it decides
the economical status of a nation.
Apart from that, banking operations are also one of the factors which contribute to the economical
growth of a country. The main core business of the banking corporation is being a financial
institution and a financial intermediary that accepts deposits and channels those deposits into
lending activities, either directly or through capital markets. Moreover, a bank also connects the

Syariah prohibits the fixed or floating payment or acceptance of specific interest or fees (known as
Riba or usury) for loans of money. The word Riba means excess, increase or addition, which
according to Syariah terminology, implies any excess compensation without due consideration
(consideration does not include time value of money). However, these principles may have been
applied to historical Islamic economies and in the late 20th century that a number of Islamic banks
were formed to apply these principles to private or semi private commercial institutions within the
Muslim community.
In early Islamic banking, a number of economic concepts and techniques were applied, including
bills of exchange, partnership (mufawada) such as limited partnerships (mudaraba), and forms of
capital (al mal), capital accumulation (nama al mal), cheques, promissory notes, trusts, transactional
accounts, loaning, ledgers and assignments. Organizational enterprises independent from the state
also existed in the medieval Islamic world, while the agency institution was also introduced during
that time. Many of these early capitalist concepts were adopted and further advanced in medieval
Europe from the 13th century onwards.
Besides that, Islamic Banking is growing at a rate of 10 15% per year in this modern era with the
signs of consistent future growth. Islamic banks have more than 300 institutions spread over 51
countries, including the United States

Democracy Vs Representative Democracy
Abraham Lincoln (2005) defined modern democracy in three part as government of the people ,
government by the people and government for the people . Democracy started in Greek around
500 B.C. with the simple meaning of people with power, nowadays democracy could be separate
into two forms the direct democracyand the representative democracy. In this essay, I will argue
that democracy is in crisis from the following aspect, fail of the direct democracy, the decline of
representative democracy and the eroded right.
Firstly, democracy is in crisis due to fail examples of direct democracy. Referendum a primary for
of a direct democracy when people are directly consulted for government decision making and give
the decision through a vote. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other than representative democracy, liberal democracy has an additional liberal feature, the
freedom. In the Belmarsh case in 2001 ,for example, the freedom has been eroded. In this case,
nine men have been put in jail without trial due to UK parliament respond to the 9/11 attack in
the USA. After the judicial review, the Crime and Security Act has been changed from the
government have the power to detain anyone who was suspected without trial into the suspected
terrorist can only be held without trial up to 28 days. Human right has been eroded and people s
freedom are therefore not secure anymore (Ginsburg, 2005). Freedom of religion, another feature
of liberal democracy becomes controversial under Huntington s view of the clash of civilizations.
According to Huntington s point of view that the fundamental source of conflict in this new
world will not be primarily ideological or primarily economic, the great division among
humankind and the dominating source of conflict will be cultural (1996), therefore, the freedom
of religion would have a possibility leads to conflict. As this brings the question to choices
between either freedom or conflict, some country chooses to abandon freedom of religion. For
example, in China government forbids the beliefs to Fa Lun Gong as it partly clashes with the
communist ideology. From the side of liberal democracy, democracy is decreasing because of the
fact that freedom is been

Compare And Contrast Kennedy And Nixon Election
Kennedy and Nixon Elections in the United States of America
John F. Kennedy vs. Richard NixonIn 1960 the Cold War tensions were rising, therefore the
election campaign was mainly dominated by this topic. Public opinion polls showed that more than
a half of American people thought the war with the Soviet Union was inevitable. The two
candidates who ended up chasing after the presidency were a barely known democrat senator John
F. Kennedy and vice president republican Richard Nixon. They both promised more advanced
science and technology in order to win the race with communism in these fields. At the beginning of
his campaign, Kennedy promised he would get the nation moving again and stated that the United
States would have the will and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The two candidates are similar with the previous examples. Senator from Illinois Barack Obama,
who ran as a democrat, was rather new, but he had ideas of change. Republican candidate John
McCain was very experienced and it wasn t the first time for him to compete for presidency. It is
said that people were choosing between change and experience and at some point the votes were
almost balanced. John McCain is a strong conservative who defends integrity and moral values.
He followed his father and became a naval aviator. McCain was almost killed Vietnam War, so he
was well respected by his contenders and considered as a charismatic man beyond his political
circle of acquaintances. However, he is a moderated republican who doesn t hesitate to take a
different position than his republican fellows. Barack Obama is the first African American
president in the history and has spoken often of his multicultural background: his father was from
Kenya and his mother from Kansas, and they met at the University of Hawaii. Obama is frequently
referred to as an exceptional orator and a great part of independents and young people support

  • 2. The French Revolution And The End Of The Nineteenth Century The French Revolution had general reasons basic to every one of the insurgencies of the West toward the end of the eighteenth century and specific causes that clarify why it was by a wide margin the most vicious and the most all around critical of these transformations. The main of the general reasons was the social structure of the West. The primitive administration had been debilitated orderly and had as of now vanished in parts of Europe. The inexorably various and prosperous tip top of well off average citizens vendors, producers, and experts, frequently called the bourgeoisie sought to political force in those nations where it didn t as of now have it. The workers, large portions of whom claimed land, had accomplished an enhanced way of life and instruction and needed to dispose of the last remnants of feudalism to obtain the full privileges of landowners and to be allowed to expand their possessions. Moreover, from around 1730, higher expectations for everyday life had diminished the death rate among grown ups impressively. This, together with different variables, had prompted an expansion in the number of inhabitants in Europe remarkable for a few centuries: it multiplied somewhere around 1715 and 1800. For France, which with 26 million occupants in 1789 was the most populated nation of Europe, the issue was generally intense. • 4. William Blake s The Chimney Sweeper Essay William Blake s The Chimney Sweeper William Blake s The Chimney Sweeper was mainly about the possibilities of both hope and faith. Although the poem s connotation is that of a very dark and depressed nature, the religious imagery Blake uses indicates that the sweeps will have a brighter future in eternity. In lines 4 8 when Blake writes, There s little Tom Dacre, who cried when his head, That curled like a lamb s back, was shaved: so I said Hush, Tom! never mind it, for when your head s bare You know that the soot cannot spoil your white hair. Then naked and white all their bags left behind, They rise upon clouds and sport in the wind; When Blake wrote these lines he was of course referring to the act of Baptism. Which is defined in the Bible as being a water ritual, used as a spiritual symbol. Through this process the sweeps would be washed clean of all of their sins and also be cleansed of all of the bad things in their lives including their jobs. And the Angel told Tom, if he d be a good boy, He d have God for his father, and never want joy. This line of the poem indicates that if Tom was a good child and did as he was told on Earth that he would not be forsaken by God as his parents had forsaken him in his former life, but instead he would have everything he could ever possibly desire and be completely content in his afterlife. And so Tom awoke; and we rose in the dark, And got with our bags and our brushes to work. Though the morning was cold, Tom was happy and warm; So if all do their duty they need not fear harm. Through these words Blake reveals hope rather than despair because the focus is on immortality instead of life as a sweep. The little Sweep s dream has the spiritual touch peculiar to Blake s hand.... (Gilchrist). As stated before Blake is trying to convey ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(NFP, January 2008, page 2 and 12) The NRP formed the basis for how the federal government would coordinate with state, local and tribal governments and the private sector during the response to a national incident. It was the cornerstone for the eventual maturation to the National Response Framework. The NRP brought together best practices from a range of disciplines including: homeland security, emergency management, law enforcement, firefighting, public works, public health and the private sector and integrated them into one unified structure. This unified structure provided the ability to coordinate federal support to state, local and tribal incident managers. (NFP, January 2008, page 12) President Bush s Homeland Security Presidential Directive Number 5 also ordered the development of the National Incident Management System (NIMS), which continues to bring together federal, state, local and tribal emergency responders into a single system for managing incidents. • 7. Endgame Essay In Samuel Beckett s, Endgame, Nagg presents a comedic joke by saying that Look at the world and look at my TROUSERS. (Beckett, 775) This moment is comedic because he s comparing the creation of the earth to the amount of weeks it took the tailor to make his trousers. Furthermore, this moment affected me emotionally since one of the central themes throughout the story is death. There are many instances of juxtaposes between the earth and the beauty of man s creation. Hamm, for example, repeatedly states that there is no cure for living on earth and even goes as far as comparing this experience to hell. The way in which Hamm describes the existing environment of living on earth is astounding to hear since this supports the idea that he doesn t view life as a luxury.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The idea that it took God only six days to make the world yet it took the tailor several weeks to make a pair of trousers was certainly comical. I, however, found it odd and strange to see the perspectives of Nagg and Nell in terms of how they approached life. It s not that they don t want to be alive, but in the same they don t necessarily want to be dead. They simply don t see a purpose, which may explain why he inserts these unconventional and absurd jokes in his play. This strange dynamic brings into question the idea that their existence doesn t have any great significance to it. There are certainly other examples throughout the text that support this hypothesis; however it goes back to the central idea of human existence. This scene in particular is relevant to the entire story as it reinforces the contradictions of humans and death. • 8. The War Of The Persian Wars Essay We had many revolutionary wars that shaped our world into becoming what it is today. The Persian Wars were one of those unforgettable events that inspired not only our military structure but government as well. The Persian Wars lasted for almost half a decade from 498 BCE to 448 BCE between the Persian Empire, of course, and Greek poleis. The war was centered around expanding the Empire of Persia as it claimed and took over land within battle and then ruling it as one while making a profit from it. Most of what we know about the Persian wars was written by Herodotus, who was born 484 BCE and gives us our primary source of what really took place during that time. The Persian Empire was the most powerful and aggressive power in the eastern Mediterranean at the time. (Many Europes; pg 51). Before expanding the land, The Persian Empire had land that expanded west of Asia and included Egypt. With the defeat of the Assyrians Empire around 550 BCE with the leadership of King Cyrus, this gave them the name of the Persian Empire. That s when the Empire began to expand its land and power with overtaking many different city sates, like Lydians, Mesopotamians, and Babylonians, and incorporating them into the Persian Empire. It wasn t until King Darius, who ruled from 521 BCE to 485 BCE, started to rule that the invasions were directed to the Greece. Now many of the Greeks thought that the Persian Empire was different and that was for a good reason. Not only did the empire have a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Howard Hugheswas one of the most famous aviators of all time with the production of his world wide known plane called the Spruce Goose . (Howard Robard Hughes) Howard Hughes was born in Humble, Texas on December 24, 1905. Hughes was very creative and ingenious, but an individualistic and private person. As a kid, he spent his time drawing automobiles, trains, planes, and boats. His father, Howard Senior, invented a new type of drill bit for the booming oil industry. The Sharp and Hughes Company was created, and quickly expanded in Texas, California, and other states. His mother, Allene, isolated Hughes from the real world with her relentless fears of germs, disease, and death. At the age of fourteen, Hughes was deeply interested in mechanics and engines. He inherited the love of creating technical solutions from his father. As a way to resist his mother to refuse to buy him a motorcycle, he turned his bicycle into a motorized bike. Being that I am a Computer Science major, and have myself created a mobile application and a handful of web applications, I know the power of this stuff and how they are able to reach and affect millions of people all over the planet. As wise ones once said: With great power comes great responsibility. We must create and use this technology boom and creation of applications to benefit human life, not harm it. I believe we started to do this with the creation of foodapps. The power to spread beneficial knowledge about food can reach everyone with the tap of a finger. Healthy food practices and the awareness of organic foods can change people lives through an app. However, some food apps fail to do such. Some apps are more profit focussed rather than morality focused. I will cover the strengths and weaknesses of three food apps in the Apple App Store, one Monterey Bay Aquarium s SeafoodWatch, EAT24, and Yummly. First we will go over Seafood Watch. The first weakness I immediately notice (note this may be a biased opinion based on my app development experience) is the user interface. The app is not all that pretty, and nowadays the top apps are also the most beautiful. Besides that, the applications contents are really good. The cash crops of the early settlers were exhaustingly labor intensive. In fact, U.S. History (2015) indicated that the growth of tobacco, rice, and indigo and the plantation economy created a tremendous need for labor in Southern English America (p. 1). The technology did not exist at the time for machinery that clears the ground and works the land as it does today. Coming to the New World Life in England during the early 1600 s was harsh for a multitude of the poor. The country was just coming out of the Thirties Year s War with a flood of citizens and laborers displaced. In fact, PBS (2015) indicated that the timing of the Virginia colony was ideal. The Thirty Year s War had left Europe s economy depressed, and many skilled and unskilled laborers were without work. A new life in the New World offered a glimmer of hope; this explains how one half to two thirds of the immigrants who came to the American colonies arrived as indentured servants (para. 3). • 12. Essay On Welfare Drug Testing Drug Testing Welfare Recipients Why do people that are working have to pass a drug test while those on welfare do not? This is the question that is causing a lot of debate across the country and throughout congress. Many working class Americans are outraged at the current welfare policies and believe something needs to change. There are always going to be people on government assistance who are abusing the system and who are using drugs while not working. Something needs to change so we can actually help families who need assistance, not those who are abusing drugs and the system. Therefor, I believe that states should require drug testing of all individuals on welfare since those who are supporting them have to pass a drug test. Drug testing welfare recipients has been an idea since 1996 when congress changed the welfare system and allowed for the possibility to drug test applicants for Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program. Approximately 81.5 percent of those receiving (TANF) have children. With that many having children, they are bound to see the biggest impact of drug testing since the money is supposed to pay for food, clothing, and shelter. Some say that it will cause children to struggle and possibly go hungry. Another reason that some people are against drug testing welfare recipients is that it will cost more than it saves. Such as in Florida where drug testing actually cost the state money. Each drug test cost around thirty dollars and with so many applicants it ended up costing the state forty five thousand dollars (Greenblatt). This is a lot of money that could have went back into the program. These are two of the several reasons that some are against the testing of welfare ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In , a rise in domestic service also ensued within black or white, free and enslaved women. These women were hired as servants, nannies, and maids. Children also began working as well. Orphans were often used as domestic servants and teen apprentices. The Female Association Charity School taught destitute girls who were raised on streets to read, write, cipher, sew. The large number of invasive carbon dioxide molecules is causing detrimental problems in the environment. This is an unignorable problem that needs great minds who are passionate and determined in this field. The most substantial problems mankind has faced were solved by hard working and dedicated scientists. The inevitable problems caused by the huge carbon dioxideconcentration is a problem that can be solved in the same way. The Expectancy Theory Of Motivation In Remember The Titans Immanuel Wilder 19 July 2017 Dr. Creasy BA 133 Remember the Titans The Expectancy Theory illustrates the mental process that employees endure when making decisions while doing voluntary things. The theory describes that the effort will determine the performance and the performance will help indicate the overall outcome. Expectancy represents the belief that exerting a high level of effort will result in the successful performance of some task, (Dr. Creasy PowerPoint). There are some advantages of the expectancy theory. One advantage is that it emphasizes on rewards or pay offs, (Expectancy Theory of Motivation, n.d., para. 5). In Remember the Titans, Coach Herman Boone, portrayed by Denzel Washington, expects big things out of his high school football team. As the newly appointed head coach and a black man, Coach Boone was faced with big expectations or else he would have to face the consequences. Coach Boone established that his team would show tremendous effort in the fall football camp at Gettysburg College. He set ground rules as he told all of his players that they would leave the school by 7:29 AM and made them all wear dress shirts, ties, and a jacket. His intention was to relate England in the 1590s to a mythical land in which each character had a symbolic meaning as well as the events they were undergoing. He lived in an era where Roman Catholicism was replaced with Protestantismand he dedicated himself to unconsciously teach and educate his readers the Catholic Churchwas corrupted and was the wrong religion to follow. For this reason, he gave each character a common role who would relate to anyone in England and showed the readers how his role in the story symbolized good or evil. The themes he expressed in his books talked about his interpretation in religion, politics, symbolism, and his dedication to make his allegoryas influential as possible. As mentioned before, Spencer s feelings about Catholicism were extremely important because in time, England s religious beliefs represented the aspects and motivations of the good and evil. Being the reason why England separated from the Catholic church and formed the Protestant Church, since they defined Catholicism to be evil and dirty. This is when he decided to share his beliefs and write several books that could be interpreted to reveal a hidden moral message. National Security in Foreign Policy Foreign policy definition: a set of political goals that aims to outline how a particular state will interact with others Beach (2012): Foreign policy actions can be undertaken using a variety of different instruments, ranging from adopting declarations, making speeches, negotiating treaties, giving other states economic aid, engaging in diplomatic activity such as summits, and the use of military force No matter which instruments are used, the primary objective of states in outlining their foreign policies is to maximise their national security. States can go about maximising national security through different means such as by military force, economic prosperity and/or the general welfare of its people. Difficult to analyse to what extent national security is a primary objective of states theories of IR will help explain states motives and how they go about maximising state security, if it is their prime objective at all. Representation Of Women In Music Videos Explore the representation of women as family members in music videos, with specific reference to Fergie s music video MILF $ and Michael Buble s music video Close your Eyes. Stuart Price wrote that representation is the way in which ideas, objects, people, groups and life forms are depicted by the mass media and is the method used by the mass media to create meanings. In other words, representation is the mediation of visual and technical codes to construct a certain depiction of an aspect of reality. Since the first music videos in the 1970 s, music videos have repeatedly been criticised for heavily sexualized representations of women. Buble has almost a sense of equality running through Close your Eyes; there are no lingering camera shots on women s bodies (Mulvey) or performances of gender (Judith Butler) but rather Buble represents different races, ages, genders and sexualities without a sense of bias or stereotyping and therefore Close your Eyes can be read as a feminist text. MILF $ has an enormous focus on the way that the women featured in the video look and this relates to the beauty myth (Naomi Wolf) as it pressures women into looking a certain way, even if this appearance is unobtainable or unrealistic, but Close your Eyes challenges the beauty myth with non stereotypical beauty i.e. a mid shot of an old Mexican couple dancing and laughing. Both music videos include a representation of a female teacher. Close your Eyes denotes a long shot of a teacher supportively looking at students work and reassuring him with a hand on the shoulder, whereas MILF $ denotes Fergie dressed in a short skirt and red heels dancing sexually through a classroom of all teenage boys. • 23. The Effects Of Domestic Violence On Children Essay Domestic violence is a crime of either passion or violence which should never be tolerated by anybody if at all the society is to be made safe enough for people to live in. Domestic violence can be defined as any threatening, abusive, or violent behavior in the home either between adult children and other adult family members (Gibbons, 2011). It can also be used by one intimate partner to establish power and control over the other partner through fear and intimidation. Domestic violencecan happen anywhere to anyone of any race, religion, culture, or economic status. It can occur in any relationship, including heterosexual, gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender and also within extended families (Women s Aid 2010). It affects both partners, their children, other family members, friends, and colleagues. Although emotional abuse in a relationship can happen equally regardless of gender, the more threatening and dangerous forms of domestic violenceare usually committed by a man against a woman (Patriarchal Roots, n.d). Often the aggressor in a violent relationship feels a high level of ownership over the other partner and the children which too often results in injury or death if this person tries to end the relationship or report the violence. Unfortunately, children are not left out and many times they fall victims of abuse or sexual assault (Sexual violence against women, n.d). This can be very traumatizing to the children and they might grow up in fear of being abusers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Swanson has always had a fascination of our 16th president s life. At only ten years old, Swanson s grandmother gave him a very peculiar gift for a child: a framed engraving of Booth s Deringer pistol, along with an April 15, 1865 Chicago Tribune clipping. The newspaper story he received relived the terrible day of Lincoln s death, but as Swanson read, he realized the ending of the story was lost. Swanson was fascinated, and felt a need to know the fate of his favorite president, and the hunt for knowledge began. As the author continues to recount in his acknowledgements, that gift sparked a passion within him culminating with the publication of Manhunt on 2006. Despite the author s obvious enjoyment of the subject, a resurgence of interest in the life and death of Honest Abe has recently gripped the United States. In the twenty first century so far, dozens of novels, including Abraham Lincoln: A Life, The Gettysburg Gospel: The Lincoln Speech That Nobody Knows, and Swanson s own Manhunt have gripped the nation, some of them being New York Times Bestsellers. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the matter of justifying the use of government subsidies for medical education to ensure proper allocation of resources the argument can be made that if I am required to pay for a service that does not directly benefit me then an externality occurs. For example, if the state of GA decides to increase their sales tax and use the additional revenue to target smoking cessation amongst Medicare users to aid in decreasing the overall cost of healthcare consumption, then I as a non smoker and non Medicare recipient am paying for a service that I directly do not need and gain no value from as I am not directly involved in the transaction. Because the goal of the subsidy is to create an incentive for more buyers to engage in a socially beneficial activity (Santerre Neun, 2013), if I am already engaged in the socially beneficial activity, paying the cost for other buyers to engage in the activity through medical education is an otherwise non beneficial factor. From this perspective, it can be assumed that the benefit is concentrated on a targeted population, but the general population at large, a high percentage who are not in the targeted population are incurring costs that will go uncompensated for in the private market (Santerre Neun, 2013). The invisibility of women in popular culture could originate from Hoggart s Uses of Literacy (1957), which situates interest in music and socialising outside home as a male pastime. Teddy Girls also attract less commentary because, unlike ted boys, the method of transmitting identity (clothing) did not differ from middle class young women. The violence and aggression of Teddy Boys in marking working class territory (Jefferson 2006: 68) attracted attention, because it directly conflicted with middle class behaviour. Although some researchers argue that service quality is an individual judgement, defined purely by the customer about the excellence or superiority of a service provider s performance (A. Finn, 2005), brand image and how the service is communicated to consumers still appears to be the most effective form of customer loyalty; with 59% of consumers admitting to utilizing a particular service through advertisements seen on the television, billboards etc (P. This is as a result of the promise/proposition the brand provides that specific service to a set of consumers; thus British Airways should aim to maintain a strong brand identity in order to preserve long term customer loyalty, as well as maintain a nationwide appeal in order to reduce overall perceived risk (Sweeney, 2000). This combined with a thoughtful and high quality service to ensure customer satisfaction, will not only encourage positive word of mouth communication amongst targeted consumers (Siddiqi, 2011), but increase the customer s willingness to purchase the service (Shostack, 1977). | Business Context Corporate and Marketing strategy, Brand analysis, Competitor Analysis, Supply Chain | British Airways corporate and marketing strategies over the years have seen the brand shift to a privately owned premium airline service provider, ... According to the online Google dictionary crummy mean dirty, unpleasant, or of poor quality. The main theme I got from this poem is how he talks about how can you be happy in a world full of stuff that s falling apart. In Darkling Thrush, the speaker also show how people in the world is moving too fast and no actually enjoy moments in their life. They tend to let death take their life away befre even enjoying the world and its nature. He also goes to say things go from dull and depressing to outright dismal. • 42. Descriptive Essay On The Day On a late night, about 10:30. I make my bed and let my dog out to go to the bathroom. After letting her out, I lay in bed hoping to have a good dream. I take off my glasses and turn off my lamp, and turn off my wax burner because my mini poodle does not like the light that it emits, and she likes the moon light. I am walkingdown the school hall, heading from the English classroom to the library. The hall is empty with no one in sight. I m going to the library to go print out something for english but I am unsure of what. There is an oval object against the wall on the right, it gives off the same effect as a heat wave on top of a car. I turn to the orb, and look at it blankly. My fingers just an inch away, about to touch it, then I wake up. I get ready for school, wake up at 5:40, play on my phone, get dressed, let the dogs out, eat breakfast, brush teeth, and walk out the door. The day is boring as normal. I get to English and remember that my new copy of my I am Famous is due. I ask the teacher if it is okay to get it printed. After a moment of contemplating in her head, she just agrees. She replies in a rushed way Okay, go quick. I walk down the hall and look down at my phone texting my friend. Ugh, school is so stressful. Out of the corner of my eye I see something odd, when I look up there it is, the orb shimmering. I look around to check if anyone is around to see it. No one, not even a single soul in sight. What form of business organization (textbook, pp. 8 9) would you suggest each of the three friends should use, and why? (12 marks) A corporation business form is suitable for the friend who wants to start a restaurant. There are some advantages for corporation: first, a corporation is distinct from its owners. Public information regarding this topic remains limited and insufficient, providing little insight on the discrimination and inequality the Indigenous community has faced, and continues to face today. The remainder lived in a situation where they were a transracial adoptee, meaning they were placed in a household with parents that had a different racial or ethnic group from their own. While transracial adoption usually concludes with positive adjustment outcomes for adoptees, for Aboriginal transracial adoptees, adoption tends to result in consistently negative outcomes. Many transracial adoptees of the Sixties Scoop era where Aboriginal children were apprehended in disproportionate numbers throughout Canada and adopted into non Aboriginal homes in Canada, United States and overseas, now adults, have contacted Aboriginal child welfare agencies as they aim to reunite with their birth families. A large proportion of former adoptees first point of contact is through addiction services and street agencies (Gilchrist, 1995). Many adoptees are facing identity issues because of being socialized and acculturated into a middle class white society (Hall, 1995; Gilchrist, 1995; Richard, 1998). For transracial adoptees, identity issues are exacerbated by the factors that arise in seeking out birth family and cultural ties (Fournier Crey, 1997; Hall, 2003). According to Bagley (1993), the core of the issue for adoptees is being reacquainted with the most marginalized and oppressed group within Canadian society . This, he argues, aggravates the already problematic identity issues that Aboriginal adoptees experience. Finally, transracial adoption causes poor socio economic factors, as well as psychological, emotional, and mental factors that confront the adoptee as an adult, as well as facing racism and racial identity issues. A little after a year of joining the Continental Army, commander George Washington came to realize that he needed to find out where the British were planning to go so his forces can stop them. At that moment he called upon Lt.Col. Thomas Knowlton to recruit some members of his rank to act as spies. However, Knowlton did not want to do this, as he told Washington: I m willing to fight the British and, if need be, die a soldier s death in battle, but as for going among them in disguise and being taken and hung up like a dog, I ll not do it. This is where Nathan Hale stepped in. He disguised himself as a Dutch schoolteacher and soon crossed enemy lines in an attempt to find out vital information about the British army for the Continental forces. Every soldier knew, including Nathan Hale, the dangers of spying as they were considered to be illegal and if they were caught they could be subject to execution. This is precisely why Knowlton did not let his ranks partake in this activity. He knew the risks and how dangerous it was.
