Lorraine Thrower Sullivan, Patrick. Benjamin Franklin, the Inveterate (And Crafty) Public Instructor:
Instruction on Two Levels in The Way to Wealth . Early American Literature, vol. 21, no. 3, Dec. 1986
In Patrick Sullivan s Benjamin Franklins, the Inveterate (and Crafty) Public Instructor he expresses
that there are two sorts of pursuers of The Way to Wealth , there is the less modern pursuers who are
given an extraordinary accumulation of world renowned exhortation and afterward there is the more
refined who are urged to think more freely. Patrick Sullivan starts his article about Franklin s The Way
to Wealth with Franklin offering rules to life and calling them the 13 Virtues or ideals. The 13 Virtues

Kutcher Competency Paper
Christopher Ashton Kutcher, more commonly known as Ashton Kutcher, is an American actor turned
investor. Starting off on That 70s Show, Kutcher lunged into his career where he soon later became a
leader in the public eye. While still maintaining his acting career, Kutcher is currently the Founder at
A Grade Investment all while making multiple investments in tech start up companies. However, what
makes Ashton Kutcher so miraculous is that while still maintaining his career, he is also very active in
the community in fighting for what he believes in. To define what makes Ashton Kutcher a leader, we
will look into three competencies proven by his Twitter account (@aplusk): personal competency,
communication competency and organizational competency. A competency is the ability to do
something successfully or efficiently. Furthermore, the first competency to analyze is the personal
competency. Personal competency are the personal traits and abilities that affect your results in the
workplace. As described by Ruben (2006), personal competency includes character, personal values,
and ethics, cognitive ability and creativity, enthusiasm, high standards, personal conviction and
persistence, self discipline and self confidence, and role modeling. Ashton Kutcher has personal traits

Economic Benefits Of Globalization
Globalized cities act as connections between nations around the world, thereby creating the
international economy and fostering the development of impoverished nations by increasing the
mobility of capital and jobs. The mobility of capital and labor can be beneficial to international
corporations that are capable of taking advantage of international business opportunities. This aspect
of globalization can encourage the movement of the operations of large corporations to developing
areas that are in need of investment. While the movement of those corporations into developing
countries can be beneficial to the region as a whole, globalization does not always affect all members
of a population equally. Certain populations still struggle to find adequate housing, employment
opportunities, and healthcare despite the overall economic development in their city. To maximize the
benefits of globalization, it is also essential that city officials understand the importance of creating a
cohesive vision to guide the growth of an aspiring global city. The Meta Theme labor and capital
describes how globalization has increased the mobility of funds and jobs due to the ease of
transporting goods and exchanging information internationally. Capital investments are essential to the
development of cities. Even with an effective plan in place, the development of a city is not possible
without investment in infrastructure. Additionally, the mobility of jobs made possible by globalization

Sylvia Beach s Ballet Technique
While Antheil was living in Paris in the 1920 s, Sylvia Beach introduced him to a filmmaker by the
name of Fernand Legér. Together they came up with an idea that would eventually be conceived as
Ballet Mécanique. While both the film and the score were created at the same time, the two were very
quickly separated into their own separate artistic entities. Inspired by the factory setting he grew up in,
and the avant garde art he was exposed to while living in Paris. The Ballet has had many different
premieres and many rewrites since the very first premiere in 1926. The orchestration of the piece was
not to concerning for Antheil: citing that instruments continue to change and improve but the
mechanical devices he was writing for are immortal. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But problems arose even without music, as the promoter Donald Friede the vice president of the
publishing firm Boni Liverwright had never promoted a live show, certainly not as big as this one. The
next problem was the backdrop behind the orchestra; Antheil felt that the traditional curtain would not
suite his needs so he asked Joseph Mullen to create two backdrops for the performance. The first
backdrop was created for his Jazz Symphony which depicted an African American couple dancing the
Charleston while the male is firmly grasping her buttocks in front of an American flag background.
This piece was performed by an African American orchestra. This only heightened the controversy.
The next one, created for Ballet Mécanique depicts a futuristic city with the focal point being a
Dadaist representation of Marcel Duchamp s Fountain, and a more than life size figure of a man
jumping off a diving board that seemed to be attached to a curved pipe of the sort generally used in
connection with a toilet. Even after thoroughly scaring the New York elite, more problems arose when
the combination of the house curtain and the two created backdrops absorbed a great amount of sound.
Due to a mix up, the string quartet originally planned to be played second, was played first. Leaving
many audience members not at the front of the hall or in a box bored and irritated very

Pickering V. Board Of Education Case Study
All schools should ensure that we protect the speech rights of their staff members. In this course,
previously we learned how complicated speech rights can be, especially in this day of age, when more
people are using social media to express their concerns. As educators, we need to know when we are
protected and we also need to be careful as we express our concerns about our school s or district
policies. Usually our staff handbook has guidelines and procedures as to how we should communicate
with news media outlets.
In order to better interpret this scenario, we first need to look another case that resembles this scenario.
The case related to this scenario, Pickering v. Board of Education (1983) upheld that teachers speech,
just like that of any other citizen, is protected when the interest of the speech does not cause harm or
create false statements. Overall, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Did she contact the newspaper during school hours? This would be important for me to know, as some
districts have policies regarding teachers and the media. I would also like to see the districts policies.
The last part of information needed is more information regarding the teacher. Was the teacher
transferred for other reasons, did she have other issues with her supervisors? In case, the school was
just trying to push her out, and this was an opportunity for them to do that.
Overall, based on the only information we are given, this scenario refers to teachers first amendment
and freedom of speech. I would side with the teacher and I would encourage her to appeal her transfer.
I would also suggest for her to truly understand her rights, as she would be walking a fine line. If her
appeal is granted, I would suggest for her to continue to build her relationship with her supervisors, so
that any future issues can be avoided. Working relations are one of the most important factor in this
scenario and many other

The Early Influences of Rome
The early influences of Rome, according to the text, were the people of Etruia and Greece. It is said
that it all started in the southernmost Etruscan centers[1]. These places, Caere, Tarquinii, Vulci, and
Veii, were the first city states to be formed. It wasn t long before the great city of Rome would rise. In
this essay, we will briefly comment on the founders of Rome and their influences. Taking each part of
history step by step hoping to uncover the secrets of Rome s first steps towards become a great
empire. The first thought of discussion will be on the Etruscans, the people of Etruia. The Etruscans
played music, danced, did acrobatics, and held foot and chariot races[2]. This group of people were

There were however, other things besides religion and grammar that Rome received; things like the
Etruscan games are one of the many things that Rome adapted from its neighbors. The Etruscans
influence on Rome had to do with location. Towards the end of the 7th century BCE, the Etruscans
expanded their territories. Their territories included Northern Italy, with the Po Valley league, and the
Etruscan city states controlled areas over Latium, which also included Rome and Campania to the
South. Hence the evolution of influence begins. In Livy, Romulus mentions one of the Etruscan
influences, I am inclined to agree with those who think that as a class of public officers was borrowed
from the same people from whom the sella curulis and the toga praetexta were adopted their
neighbors, the Etruscans so the number itself also was taken from them. In this quote, not only does
Romulus mention the influence in clothes but the influence in government as well. The number he
mentions at the end of the quote has to do with twelve lictors he called to service. A lictor is a public
officer who attended on the chief Roman magistrates... the office of lictor is said to have been derived
by Romulus from the Etruscans.[10] The twelve lictors were responsible for passing judgment on
criminals after a trail. This included Roman citizens, foreigners and slaves as well. Government was in

Summary Of Against The Odds, And Against The Common Good...
In her essay Against the Odds, and Against the Common Good, Gloria Jimenez attempts to dismantle
the appeal of state run lotteries. First, she takes advantage of conversational writing to convey the
reader s ethics by exploring syntactical techniques and using examples of clever gambling
advertisements. These components strengthen her argument on the surface by creatively appealing to
emotion and reason. Jimenez unfortunately fails to create a convincing argument by implementing
several improper grammar techniques and a couple of fallacies, weakening the credibility of her
argument. Gloria Jimenez essay, while emotionally appealing, is incapable of withstanding the
criticism produced and created by a lack of grammatical expertise and writing practices. In her essay
Against the Odds, and Against the Common Good, Gloria Jimenez asserts that states should not
promote and advertize gambling. Jimenez lists many clever lottery slogans that are deceivingly
interpreted. She also argues that these slogans advertise the advantages of gambling and playing the
lottery because the money supposedly goes to things such as education and social service. Jimenez
explains some arguments in favor of state run lotteries, such as free participation and the creation of
jobs, but argues that they are not relevant to the problem. She briefly touches on a statistic claiming
that low income individuals are more likely to spend money on lottery tickets than their opposite,
higher income

Paul the Apostle was a very godly man one of many on long list of godly people who spent their lives
serving God s purpose. Paul was the author of several epistles, writing out the words of God to the
people of the church. Have you ever wondered why Paul wrote out the epistle of Ephesians and the
effects that the letter had on the congregation in which he wrote too? In the book of Ephesians, it is
clearly shown that the Apostle Paul is the indeed the author of the Epistle of Ephesians. Paul s epistles

one of the immense cities in that region of the world was Ephesus. The prosperous commercial center
and home for the praising of the goddess Diana is the Roman capital. Even though Paul succulently
studied at the local synagogue with the Jews and was offered to stay for a longer period of time, he
arranged plans to visit them after he traveled to Jerusalem. On Paul s third missionary journey he
returned to Ephesus for a longer time period, and extended stay of three years. After Paul s earlier
success with turning John s twelve disciples, he then spent around three months in the local
synagogues teaching. There was obstruction to Paul s doctrine that forced him to depart from the
synagogues, but for a period of about two years Paul was able to remain teaching in the school of

Introduction
In our society, oil is one of the core requirements. Whether it is to drive from a point A to a point B or
to fly between distant countries, oil always had a fundamental impact on our civilization. Its impact is
felt, on a daily basis and under many aspects. Not a day goes by without hearing about the Brent s
changing undulation, on the markets in New York or London. Some have thought that the desire to
gain control of Iran s oil resources was the core of the CIA s intervention in that country, in the 1950s.
In recent years, it was considered, by left wing groups, that the war in Iraq was based upon an attempt
of foreign control over the Iraqi petroleum resources. Even though both events have an unquestioned

They formed the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, or OPEC. Since the OPEC was
instated to protect the interests of oil producers, it could be seen as an example of regional integration.
The OPEC is widely considered, throughout the world, as a cartel. This would be an intellectual
misconception. The concept of cartel would consider oligarchies limiting competition and monopolies
increasing prices. Oppositely, many international oil producers are not members of the OPEC. These
non members saw a fourfold increase in the oil prices, during the 1973 oil embargo. In A history of the
modern Middle East, William L. Cleveland and Martin Bunton stated that the immediate objective of
the OPEC was to utilize the collective bargaining power of its member states to pressure the Western
oil companies to increase oil prices. . However, the birth of the OPEC did not occur, overnight. In
1947, the Venezuelan and Iranian delegations held talks in Washington, to coordinate their oil policies.
In OPEC: Past and Present, Abdul Amir Q. Kubbah stated that the Arab league had a project of
creating an association of Arab oil producing countries. , since 1945. The first OPEC type grouping
occurred in 1953, when Iraqi and Saudi delegates joined forces. The agreement between these two
states was the first to involve cooperation from both governments. The Arab League held a summit in
Cairo, in 1959. During that summit, views have been exchanged concerning the

El Nino Fidencio the Mythical Curandero
El Nino Fidencio The Mythical Curandero Throughout the book Curanderismo: Mexican American
Folk Healing Trorrer and Chavira make mention of el Niño Fidencio in countless areas of the book. It
is mentioned that one of the most important spiritualist movement is based on the life teaching, and
the spirit of a famous young folk healer (now dead) from northern Mexico el Niño Fidencio (1997:35).
Even today el Niño is an important figure in many aspects of the belief system and practice associated
with the Curanderismo folk healing. History plays a major role in culture when it comes to

This has created a sort of sub culture or cult in which those who have the ability to become a medium
sometimes choose to spend their lives living and working in such temples.
The centros are staffed by trance mediums who, often... go into trance, and (in their words) let the
spirit of el Nino descend on them, their bodies forming a link between the material and spiritual
realms of existence. Through this linkage, the immortal spirit of el Nino performs cure, does
consultations, even predicts the outcome of future events for members of his cult (1997: 35).
Followers of Fidencio and other spirits tend to have much more religious beliefs due to the fact that
they are wholly focused on doing their work through the guidance, protection and possession by that
saint. Although it is interesting to note that people consider the curenderos to be a saints because of the
connection that they have with the seen unseen realms associated with the gifts that mediums possess.
Not all mediums choose to become part of a cult dedicating themselves and their work to the will of a
saint who will ultimately work through them. Others might choose to work alone, some for profit and
some solely for personal growth knowledge and gratification as is mentioned in chapter six

Taming Of The Shrew Misogyny
The Taming of the Shrew, reflects the problematic nature of the play s central conception, often taking
eccentric casting and staging approaches in an effort to recapture the plays comic elements. Criticisers
claim that Petruchio is Katherina s rescuer, the prudent man who guides her to a better and truer self.
Unlike other misogynistic literature, this play mocks not only the woman herself in the person of the
shrew, but male attitudes towards women.
Shakespeare presents misogyny throughout the play but firstly starts at the beginning when Katherina
is forced by her father, Baptista, to get married to a man of his choice, unfortunately for Katherina this
man was Petruchio. Nowadays forced marriage is considered as cruel and demeaning as we ... Show

Although Katherina does not want to admit that she desires him, her speech at the end implies
otherwise. Thy husband is thy lord, thy life, thy keeper, Thy head, thy sovereign; one that cares for
thee, And for thy maintenance; commits his body To painful labour, both by sea and land; To watch
the night in storms, the day in cold, Whilst thou li st warm at home, secure and safe; And craves no
other tribute at thy hands But love, fair looks, and true obedience Too little payment for so great a
debt. The final scene depicts the conclusion of the taming process when Katherina delivers her famous
speech that defines the marriage contract. Katherina understands that she must give in to Petruchio if
she is to find peace. Too little payment for so great a debt. This shows the level of her transformation,
Petruchio has finally tamed Katherina. Although we believe that Katherina has been tamed by her
husband, we have to take into consideration whether Katherina does love Petruchio or if this is all a
disguise. One critic named Pederson explains that Katherina s final speech expresses a direct denial of
the method by which Shakespeare allows Petruchio to tame Katherina, because it asserts that the
example of bad tempered, uncontrolled behaviour can only bring about behaviour of the same kind in
the learner, not a change to

Traditionally, independent dealerships utilize a far more centralized approach to customer level
decision making. These mom and pop dealerships acquired by Cervus were successfully converted
from a command and control style of management.
Inimitability and Substitutability
Cervus decentralized decision making model could be easily imitated. At first glance the model s
imitability appears to be a major barrier that is preventing a sustainable competitive advantage.
However, decentralization is not a new concept and was certainly not developed by Cervus. The true
value lies in Cervus ability to implement and execute the concept, which involves far more than
simply imitating a model or a process. Would be imitators must also invest the time necessary to
develop the experience and capability to implement the model effectively. Thus, Cervus
decentralization capabilities are actually quite difficult to imitate as they require a significant time
investment.
The organization of power within a corporation is a rigid dichotomy between centralization and
decentralization. Substitute strategies can exist anywhere along the spectrum whether they are
completely centralized, completely decentralized or somewhere in between. Though Cervus methods
are substitutable, centralized policies have not proven to be nearly as successful in maintaining

The Importance Of Outreach In America
Midway between the summer before last, I had the opportunity to take a trip not as a vacation, but
rather a missionary outreach. Before this chance I had never exactly been given a chance to travel to
somewhere very different from my residence in Lincoln, Nebraska. This outreach was held at the
YWAM(youth with a mission) Los Angeles, California chapter. When it had been announced that the
youth would be taking this trip to L.A. I had gone over to converse with my youth pastor Michael.
Every time I go to speak with Michael it always tends to brighten up my day. He is one of those

As we arrived at the base we were divided into cabins male and female. Several moments later I was
introduced to our Cabin father, Erick. Erick works in the missions field year round, because of this, he
was given a cabin to call home for as long as he lives in L.A.
Once I got close enough to Erick I instantly concluded that he was a surfer. The man s long, shaggy,
brown hair was constantly wet as though he had just gotten back from the beach. He always had an
aroma of salt around him, although it was sweet rather than a reeking scent, like saltwater taffy. In
order to arrive at our cabin we had to take a half mile walk uphill where it was to dark to see. The
instant I walked in the front door I rushed to get a good room, and crashed.
I woke up to a noise I had never dreamed I would arise to in Los Angeles. Silence.

Edwards Snow Summary
Both articles address the use of the color blue almost immediately, and each s beliefs conflicts with the
other. In the first article by Edwards Snow, he clearly states, The historical context of childrens games
yields neither a unified period consciousness nor a set of stable sixteenth century beliefs .p.43 Snow
clearly states that the information provided various sources in regards to the use of color must
therefore be taken with a grain of salt, as none of them can with a one hundred percent certainty be
certain. He follows with, The color iconography at a medieval or renaissance artist disposal was so
polyvalent that scarcely ever is the prominent use of a certain color sufficient in and of itself to

Snow speaks about age in the beginning of his article when he talks about mask, and how the pairing
between the child and the masked character represent different perspectives on ow to view the world.
The face on the right epitomizes the ingenious gaze... adult mask, on the other hand, peers intently on
the scene below, but with a misanthropic scowl that is ingrained in its features, and with eyes that are
as empty and incapable of vision as the small child s wistful gaze. 28 Snow believes that Bruegel uses
the masks to represent two different age perspectives on the same scene, and claims that while an
innocent may view what is happening below with a sense of delight, the masked figure does not. This
is later supported by the idea that, Mask shows childhood growing into ugly., predetermined adult
forms. and at the same time pictures the misanthropic, supervisory point of the view where this sense
of things originates; the face on the right reciprocates by picturing childhood innocence as weak and
passively vulnerable to corruption. p.28 Hindsman on the other hand sees age as a way to represent the
passage of seasons and how that correlates with growing older. Starting with a reference to a religious
holiday, and how that correlates to the next season which moves into ideas about love and marriage
and how that is followed later by a baptismal, which is a progression of event that happen over time as
one gets older. Hindsman also points out previous work by Bruegel, where he uses the passage of
months to represent the passage of time for men as they traverse from adolescence (into) manhood

Independency and Maturing
Treasure Island is a story about adventure. However it encompasses the theme of Independency and
maturing. Jim is a young boy who is in the middle of becoming a Independent and mature adult. He
has developed throughout the adventure and has turned into a role model for the others around him.
He is very courageous and has developed mature habits as the book progresses top the end.
The uselessness of Wealth
Treasure Island is the story of a voyage in which the pirates tend to get rich. Many of the pirates on the
boat were very poor. The treasure was a motive for them throughout the whole book. The pirates and
crew desired wealth and were extremely greedy. The theme of uselessness of wealth is one that
constantly reappears throughout the whole book. Stevenson portraits this when the pirates constantly
switch sides, betrayed each other, and do very violent and uncivil things just to get to the treasure.

Social Construction Essay
The social construction theory describes race as an aspect of life constructed by humans, which affects
our lives as social beings. How people are viewed in life, whether it is judged upon their gender, race,
or even the style of clothing they wear, has an affect on various aspects of their life. Their education,
career, salary, where they live, and their friends are all dictated by at least one aspect of social
construction. Race has one of the strongest impacts in life, since there is an overbearing subconscious
racial lens in the minds of most people. As social beings, these racial ideologies are embedded into our
brains. Some people choose to ignore them, some act on them negatively against others, and some
decide to challenge them head ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yang falls in love with a successful African American surgeon, Preston Burke. Asian African
American interracial couples are not commonly depicted on television shows. The style of writing in
the show hones the viewer s attention on the passion and love between the two characters, rather than
on their differences. Their racial differentiation is not a topic of conversation and does not have an
affect on their relationship. Another interracial relationship depicted on the show is between Dr.
Webber, an African American, and Meredith Grey s mother, who is white. Their relationship was a
long love affair and even resulted in the birth of baby girl, Maggie Pierce. Maggie was given up for
adoption as a baby and never met her birth parents. We meet Maggie when she moves to Seattle to
find information about her real family. This character relates to many viewers because it represents
families who are not the stereotypical cookie cutter family. This story line represents people who have
siblings from parents that are not the same race, it represents the parents who have children from
different partners, and finally, it represents a successful black woman who went through the adoption
process. On television, children who have been adopted tend to have issues socializing or behavioral
problems. This misrepresents the many people who have successful lives despite the fact they have
adoptive parents. When Meredith found out about her sister years later, she did not deny or question
that they were related because she was black, instead she accepted

The Consequences Of Blame In Romeo And Juliet
Blame is the action of placing fault on someone else s shoulders in order to take responsibility off of
ours. People resort to blame because they do not want to own up to the responsibility and the
consequences following the fault. The quote, We live in a culture of blame. People will blame anyone
or anything for their misery sooner than to take responsibility to own it and make it better, is an
excerpt of a book written by psychologists Dr. Henry Cloud and Dr. John Townsend. Blame comes
into play during Romeo and Juliet, because the fault of the couple s death rests on the shoulders of
King Capulet and Friar Laurence. Capulet and Friar Laurence are to blame for Romeo and Juliet s
deaths, because the Friar marries them in the first place, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Friar s decision to marry Romeo and Juliet is significant, because that is what caused Romeo to
aggravate Tybalt, eventually leading into two deaths of royalty. In Romeo and Juliet, although the
priest easily could have decided not to marry the two, whom originate from warring sides of a city,
marries them anyway. The Friar was fully aware of the inevitable consequences foreshadowed to
come. This is illustrated when Romeo pleads to the Friar to marry the pair, to which the priest fiercely
denies. Over the course of only a few minutes, the Friar sees an image of God and has the divine
inspiration to marry them. This piece of the play creates a ripple effect, in which Romeo emerges from
the church in an excited, happy manner, escalating the situation between Mercutio and Tybalt, which
then eventually fell into a downward spiral towards Romeo and Juliet s graves. Moreover, the priest s
settlement to marry Romeo and Juliet signifies importance, because his loyalty to his overall
conclusion to marry them ultimately lead to their deaths. This is expressed in the scene where he
provides a solution to Juliet to delay her marriage. As Juliet comes crying to the Friar after everyone in
her household has betrayed her, he offers her a solution in which she will sleep for 48 hours. Juliet
impulsively agrees and snatches the bottle, quickly thanking him and running home to sleep. By
handing her the potion first, the priest sets their graves in stone by not telling Romeo the plan, causing
confusion, and ultimately,

The Technology And Its Performance Advantages
Abstract
Nanofluids are another sort of warmth exchange medium, containing nanoparticles (1 100 nm), which
are consistently and steadily distributed in a base liquid (Wang Mujumdar, 2007). Down scaling or
scaling down has been a late major pattern in cutting edge science and innovation. Builds now
manufacture miniaturized scale gadgets, for example, micro channel heat exchangers, and small scale
pumps that are the measure of dust bits. Further significant advances would be gotten if the coolant
streaming in the smaller scale channels were to contain nanoscale particles to upgrade heat exchange.
Nanofluids innovation will in this way be a rising and energizing innovation of the 21st century. This
paper gives explanation on the nanofluids technology and its performance advantages. It likewise
depicts case of potential applications and characterizations of nanofluids. At long last, future
examination on the fundamentals and utilizations of nanofluids are great (Wang Mujumdar, 2007).

There are several situations happen whether joy, sadness or debate Mrs. de Winter s reaction is similar
to film and novel such as when she meets Maxim she feels so happy together. Moreover, she lacks

setting. Hence, she is portrayed as an outsider not only because she is fighting a boy, but also because

Fayol s “Principles” in a University Library
In reading through Management Basics for Information Professionals by Evans and Ward, one of the
theories of management that stood out to me was the administrative approach (2007). Henry Fayol
was one of the main proponents of this approach, though there were many others as well. Fayol
divided organizational activities into five major groups and also identified 14 principles of
management and believed that management is a skill one can learn, rather than a talent received at
birth (Evans Ward, 2007). In the context of my personal experience I found that it might be interesting
to compare my experiences as a student employee in the UC Berkeley library to some of the more
applicable aspects of Fayol s principles of management. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another of Fayol s principles had to do with authority and responsibility. In the department of the
main stacks, there was a staff librarian who acted as our manager, as well as a group of students that
performed supervisory tasks. In my last year or so in the library I joined this group, and was given the
task of doing some of the day to day tasks that kept our department running. These included opening
and closing procedures, keeping statistics of the work done by students, assigning hourly jobs,
training, and so on. The important idea in this principle is that giving orders and being responsible
must go together (Evans Ward, 2007). I would argue that in our department, while we were
responsible for making sure the work was done as well as assigning jobs, if there was a difficult
situation the supervisors were able to refer to the staff librarian for support. For example, if one
student was chronically underperforming or late, we would notify the librarian. If one considered the
group of supervisors plus the librarian who managed us to make up the management of the
department, then in whole authority and responsibility did go together. I would also say that instead of
thinking of student supervisors as not being as responsible as they could be, it would be more
plausible to say that the hourly assignment of jobs and other such tasks were ones that were delegated
to them by the librarian, because while he was more responsible, there was no way that he could

Auditor Independence On A Corporation s Financial...
Independence Introduction
Auditors provide comfort and assurance regarding a corporation s financial position and its financial
statements. The assurance field centers upon one common trait: trust. Trust is vital to an auditor
because investors must feel confident that the financial statements accurately reflect the company s
financial standing. Auditor independence is the backbone behind the perceived trust and comfort an
auditor provides while examining the financial statements. If an auditor impairs independence, how
can an investor ensure that he or she is relying upon accurate information? Since trust is an essential
part of the auditor investor relationship, the government and accounting oversight boards have taken

By applying the most restrictive set of independence rules one improves the likelihood of impairment
because as restrictiveness increases it becomes increasingly difficult to comply with the rules. In

PCAOB and AICPA
The PCAOB and AICPA function in similar ways but differ in one core department. Title I of the

independently and its members are not considered agents of the Federal Government. However, the

including the approval of the Board s rules, standards and budget (About the PCAOB). In contrast, the

Film Autuerism Essay
Film Autuerism Auteurism is a term first coined by Francois Truffaut to describe the mark of a film
director on his films. A director can be considered an auteur if about five of his film depict a certain
style that is definitely his own. In other words, much like one can look at a painting and tell if it is a
Monet, a Renoir, or a Degas, if a film director is an auteur, one can look at his film and tell by style
and recurring themes that it was made by a certain director. In auteur films, the director is many times
what brings an audience to the theater, instead of the actors or storyline. I am going to take a look at
three of the most noted auteurs: Frederico Fellini, Satyajit Ray, and Alfred Hitchcock.
I watched five of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In all of the films, the husband and wife have difficulty communicating with each other. One scene in
City of Women visually shows this with multiple barriers: physical (a column and doorway), spatial
(the characters are on opposite sides of the screen) and social (a crown with turned backs). In Juliet of
the Spirits, Julieta is the superwife. She plays all of the above stated roles, and also it is apparent that
she has her own interior life. This is shown by the use of mirrors and reflections within reflections.
The final character archetype that I noticed in Fellini s films is the macho man. This is probably best
illustrated in the harem sequence in 8 1/2. In this the main character imagines himself as the master of
all women he has ever desired, real or fantasized. In City of Women the doctor is the idealized male
stereotype who now has to deal with women s increasing independence. I do not think that this
character was as effective, however, in showing this archetype as much as the harem sequence did. In
La Strada the male character is kept a prisoner by these male virtues he cannot communicate his own
feelings.
Fellini definitely has many trademarks, but I chose these to write about because they are the least
remarked upon. But, surely when one watches any Fellini film, there is a definite look and feel to the
movie, making Fellini a true auteur.
The next auteur that I studied

The Impact of Technology
Technology, mainly computers and video games, have made a vast difference in our society. Many

Geoffrey Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales
In Geoffrey Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales, the Franklin presents a tale which deftly examines the
tension between ideal vs. reality. In a perfect world the marriage promise between Arveragus and
Dorigen sets the tone for the rest of the tale by means of marital equality but in reality no good comes
from it. Although The Franklin s Tale is arguably the most equal out of all the Marriage Groups, its
repetition of acts of magnanimity overpowers that equality and turns it into a kind of competition. The
foundation of marriage between them is decided together and creates this method of balanced
responsibility that is almost ideal but realistically unable to occur due to inherent gender and social
expectations. The Franklin s final question regarding who the most free at the end of the tale is very
debatable because of the different types of free in Middle English. The Franklin zero s in on that
question for only the men and leaves out an important character. Because Dorigen and Arveragus both
agreed to the terms of their marriage contract, it seems unfair to leave out Dorigen s impact she has on
the overall theme of free ness. So given that each character in this tale is in chain of promised service
to another, the ambiguity of the final question proposed by the Franklin complicates the ability to
judge who is the most free when including Dorigen. The difficulty of answering the Franklin s
question is due to the multipurpose usage of the word free in Middle English.

stress response. The physiological changes to the body during the stress response are the lungs work
overtime to deliver oxygen to the bloodstream, and the heart races to pump oxygen throughout the
body so muscles respond instantly. The blood pressure needs to go up to deliver energy. The body will

b) The Dutch Hunger Winter is an example of how stress damages us before we are aware of its
presence. Tessa Roseboom concluded our bodies respond to famine in the same way they respond to
other stressors, so she endeavored to research if the fetuses of the women pregnant during the famine
could be affected by stress. She identified over 2400 people who could have been impacted. Her
research revealed the stresses they underwent as fetuses still impacted them 60 years later. Babies
conceived during the famine have increased risk of cardiovascular disease, higher
hypercholesterolemia, are generally more responsive to stress and are in poorer health than people
born before the famine or conceived after it. Stress hormones in the mother s blood triggered a change
in the fetus nervous system as it struggled to survive. This was the fetus first experience with stress,

Paraphilia Essay
There are many weird and disturbing things that people do all around the world, to be specific, these
certain things are done for pure sexual arousal. A paraphilia is a condition in which a person s sexual
arousal and gratification depend on fantasizing about and engaging in sexual behavior that is atypical
and extreme. I will go through multiple types of Paraphilias and explain what they are, how they affect
the public and my view towards the philia. To begin, the most common paraphilia is Fetishism. This
involves the non use of nonliving objects as a source of sexual arousal. Some examples of nonliving
objects would be: Women s panties, Bras, or High Heeled shoes. This paraphilia seems to be the least
severe out of all the others as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Examples of this are having sex with children who are not of age, touching children inappropriately,
who are not of age and child pornography. This is the most severe philia in my opinion and it holds
great consequences. One can be charged with numerous CSC charges, spend life on the sex offenders
list, go to prison for many years, or even be killed because they are a pedophile. Today, there are
roughly 400,000 registered sex offenders in the united states (80 100,000 are unregistered). And 89%
of child sexual assault cases involve people known to the child. My opinion is that these people need
to be locked up for max sentences according to the law, not life in prison as some would want. These
people commit horrible crimes to young children and need to pay for the physical and emotional
damage that has left children scarred for life.
The most disturbing of them all would have to be Necrophilia. This is the sexual attraction to dead
human bodies. Things like touching and having sex with the bodies of the deceased are examples.

Starting off on That 70s Show, Kutcher lunged into his career where he soon later became a leader in the public eye. While still maintaining his acting career, Kutcher is currently the Founder at A Grade Investment all while making multiple investments in tech start up companies. However, what makes Ashton Kutcher so miraculous is that while still maintaining his career, he is also very active in the community in fighting for what he believes in. To define what makes Ashton Kutcher a leader, we will look into three competencies proven by his Twitter account (@aplusk): personal competency, communication competency and organizational competency. A competency is the ability to do something successfully or efficiently. Furthermore, the first competency to analyze is the personal competency. • 4. Economic Benefits Of Globalization Globalized cities act as connections between nations around the world, thereby creating the international economy and fostering the development of impoverished nations by increasing the mobility of capital and jobs. The mobility of capital and labor can be beneficial to international corporations that are capable of taking advantage of international business opportunities. This aspect of globalization can encourage the movement of the operations of large corporations to developing areas that are in need of investment. While the movement of those corporations into developing countries can be beneficial to the region as a whole, globalization does not always affect all members of a population equally. Certain populations still struggle to find adequate housing, employment opportunities, and healthcare despite the overall economic development in their city. To maximize the benefits of globalization, it is also essential that city officials understand the importance of creating a cohesive vision to guide the growth of an aspiring global city. The Meta Theme labor and capital describes how globalization has increased the mobility of funds and jobs due to the ease of transporting goods and exchanging information internationally. Capital investments are essential to the development of cities. Even with an effective plan in place, the development of a city is not possible without investment in infrastructure. Additionally, the mobility of jobs made possible by globalization has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Sylvia Beach s Ballet Technique While Antheil was living in Paris in the 1920 s, Sylvia Beach introduced him to a filmmaker by the name of Fernand Legér. Together they came up with an idea that would eventually be conceived as Ballet Mécanique. While both the film and the score were created at the same time, the two were very quickly separated into their own separate artistic entities. Inspired by the factory setting he grew up in, and the avant garde art he was exposed to while living in Paris. The Ballet has had many different premieres and many rewrites since the very first premiere in 1926. The orchestration of the piece was not to concerning for Antheil: citing that instruments continue to change and improve but the mechanical devices he was writing for are immortal. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But problems arose even without music, as the promoter Donald Friede the vice president of the publishing firm Boni Liverwright had never promoted a live show, certainly not as big as this one. The next problem was the backdrop behind the orchestra; Antheil felt that the traditional curtain would not suite his needs so he asked Joseph Mullen to create two backdrops for the performance. The first backdrop was created for his Jazz Symphony which depicted an African American couple dancing the Charleston while the male is firmly grasping her buttocks in front of an American flag background. This piece was performed by an African American orchestra. This only heightened the controversy. The next one, created for Ballet Mécanique depicts a futuristic city with the focal point being a Dadaist representation of Marcel Duchamp s Fountain, and a more than life size figure of a man jumping off a diving board that seemed to be attached to a curved pipe of the sort generally used in connection with a toilet. Even after thoroughly scaring the New York elite, more problems arose when the combination of the house curtain and the two created backdrops absorbed a great amount of sound. Due to a mix up, the string quartet originally planned to be played second, was played first. Leaving many audience members not at the front of the hall or in a box bored and irritated very ... • 6. Pickering V. Board Of Education Case Study All schools should ensure that we protect the speech rights of their staff members. In this course, previously we learned how complicated speech rights can be, especially in this day of age, when more people are using social media to express their concerns. As educators, we need to know when we are protected and we also need to be careful as we express our concerns about our school s or district policies. Usually our staff handbook has guidelines and procedures as to how we should communicate with news media outlets. In order to better interpret this scenario, we first need to look another case that resembles this scenario. The case related to this scenario, Pickering v. There were however, other things besides religion and grammar that Rome received; things like the Etruscan games are one of the many things that Rome adapted from its neighbors. The Etruscans influence on Rome had to do with location. Towards the end of the 7th century BCE, the Etruscans expanded their territories. Their territories included Northern Italy, with the Po Valley league, and the Etruscan city states controlled areas over Latium, which also included Rome and Campania to the South. Hence the evolution of influence begins. In Livy, Romulus mentions one of the Etruscan influences, I am inclined to agree with those who think that as a class of public officers was borrowed from the same people from whom the sella curulis and the toga praetexta were adopted their neighbors, the Etruscans so the number itself also was taken from them. • 8. Summary Of Against The Odds, And Against The Common Good... In her essay Against the Odds, and Against the Common Good, Gloria Jimenez attempts to dismantle the appeal of state run lotteries. First, she takes advantage of conversational writing to convey the reader s ethics by exploring syntactical techniques and using examples of clever gambling advertisements. These components strengthen her argument on the surface by creatively appealing to emotion and reason. Jimenez unfortunately fails to create a convincing argument by implementing several improper grammar techniques and a couple of fallacies, weakening the credibility of her argument. Gloria Jimenez essay, while emotionally appealing, is incapable of withstanding the criticism produced and created by a lack of grammatical expertise and writing practices. In her essay Against the Odds, and Against the Common Good, Gloria Jimenez asserts that states should not promote and advertize gambling. Jimenez lists many clever lottery slogans that are deceivingly interpreted. She also argues that these slogans advertise the advantages of gambling and playing the lottery because the money supposedly goes to things such as education and social service. Jimenez explains some arguments in favor of state run lotteries, such as free participation and the creation of jobs, but argues that they are not relevant to the problem. The Friar s decision to marry Romeo and Juliet is significant, because that is what caused Romeo to aggravate Tybalt, eventually leading into two deaths of royalty. In Romeo and Juliet, although the priest easily could have decided not to marry the two, whom originate from warring sides of a city, marries them anyway. The Friar was fully aware of the inevitable consequences foreshadowed to come. This is illustrated when Romeo pleads to the Friar to marry the pair, to which the priest fiercely denies. Over the course of only a few minutes, the Friar sees an image of God and has the divine inspiration to marry them. This piece of the play creates a ripple effect, in which Romeo emerges from the church in an excited, happy manner, escalating the situation between Mercutio and Tybalt, which then eventually fell into a downward spiral towards Romeo and Juliet s graves. Moreover, the priest s settlement to marry Romeo and Juliet signifies importance, because his loyalty to his overall conclusion to marry them ultimately lead to their deaths. This is expressed in the scene where he provides a solution to Juliet to delay her marriage. As Juliet comes crying to the Friar after everyone in her household has betrayed her, he offers her a solution in which she will sleep for 48 hours. • 28. The Technology And Its Performance Advantages Abstract Nanofluids are another sort of warmth exchange medium, containing nanoparticles (1 100 nm), which are consistently and steadily distributed in a base liquid (Wang Mujumdar, 2007). Down scaling or scaling down has been a late major pattern in cutting edge science and innovation. Builds now manufacture miniaturized scale gadgets, for example, micro channel heat exchangers, and small scale pumps that are the measure of dust bits. Further significant advances would be gotten if the coolant streaming in the smaller scale channels were to contain nanoscale particles to upgrade heat exchange. Nanofluids innovation will in this way be a rising and energizing innovation of the 21st century. This paper gives explanation on the nanofluids technology and its performance advantages. It likewise depicts case of potential applications and characterizations of nanofluids. At long last, future examination on the fundamentals and utilizations of nanofluids are great (Wang Mujumdar, 2007). Introduction Purpose In this unit, the research paper makes a forty percent of the final grade and therefore this final report is significant to attaining the final grade. In this case, every student is mandated to complete a research proposal for a topic that makes the final project report. For this reason I am writing a research report paper on application of Nanofluids in heat transfer and how such helps in saving energy and improving efficiency of equipment. However, as the personal conflict of Mrs. Mortimer #8217;s sterility is developed the setting complements her feelings of worthlessness and loneliness as the reader becomes aware that the farm is in fact isolated and any outside contact with people is welcomed. This is demonstrated through the passage #8220;Whenever the Mortimer #8217;s caught sight of them [the children on the train] there was a sudden brightness on their faces. #8221; Similarly, in #8220;The Great Leap Frog Contest #8221; the setting enhances the portrayal of Rosie as the underdog. • 32. Fayol s “Principles” in a University Library In reading through Management Basics for Information Professionals by Evans and Ward, one of the theories of management that stood out to me was the administrative approach (2007). Henry Fayol was one of the main proponents of this approach, though there were many others as well. Fayol divided organizational activities into five major groups and also identified 14 principles of management and believed that management is a skill one can learn, rather than a talent received at birth (Evans Ward, 2007). In the context of my personal experience I found that it might be interesting to compare my experiences as a student employee in the UC Berkeley library to some of the more applicable aspects of Fayol s principles of management. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another of Fayol s principles had to do with authority and responsibility. In the department of the main stacks, there was a staff librarian who acted as our manager, as well as a group of students that performed supervisory tasks. In my last year or so in the library I joined this group, and was given the task of doing some of the day to day tasks that kept our department running. These included opening and closing procedures, keeping statistics of the work done by students, assigning hourly jobs, training, and so on. The important idea in this principle is that giving orders and being responsible must go together (Evans Ward, 2007). I would argue that in our department, while we were responsible for making sure the work was done as well as assigning jobs, if there was a difficult situation the supervisors were able to refer to the staff librarian for support. For example, if one student was chronically underperforming or late, we would notify the librarian. If one considered the group of supervisors plus the librarian who managed us to make up the management of the department, then in whole authority and responsibility did go together. I would also say that instead of thinking of student supervisors as not being as responsible as they could be, it would be more plausible to say that the hourly assignment of jobs and other such tasks were ones that were delegated to them by the librarian, because while he was more responsible, there was no way that he could ... • 34. Film Autuerism Essay Film Autuerism Auteurism is a term first coined by Francois Truffaut to describe the mark of a film director on his films. A director can be considered an auteur if about five of his film depict a certain style that is definitely his own. In other words, much like one can look at a painting and tell if it is a Monet, a Renoir, or a Degas, if a film director is an auteur, one can look at his film and tell by style and recurring themes that it was made by a certain director. In auteur films, the director is many times what brings an audience to the theater, instead of the actors or storyline. In all of the films, the husband and wife have difficulty communicating with each other. One scene in City of Women visually shows this with multiple barriers: physical (a column and doorway), spatial (the characters are on opposite sides of the screen) and social (a crown with turned backs). In Juliet of the Spirits, Julieta is the superwife. She plays all of the above stated roles, and also it is apparent that she has her own interior life. This is shown by the use of mirrors and reflections within reflections. The final character archetype that I noticed in Fellini s films is the macho man. This is probably best illustrated in the harem sequence in 8 1/2. In this the main character imagines himself as the master of all women he has ever desired, real or fantasized. In City of Women the doctor is the idealized male stereotype who now has to deal with women s increasing independence. I do not think that this character was as effective, however, in showing this archetype as much as the harem sequence did. In La Strada the male character is kept a prisoner by these male virtues he cannot communicate his own feelings. Fellini definitely has many trademarks, but I chose these to write about because they are the least remarked upon. But, surely when one watches any Fellini film, there is a definite look and feel to the movie, making Fellini a true auteur. The next auteur that I studied ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 38. Geoffrey Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales In Geoffrey Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales, the Franklin presents a tale which deftly examines the tension between ideal vs. reality. In a perfect world the marriage promise between Arveragus and Dorigen sets the tone for the rest of the tale by means of marital equality but in reality no good comes from it. Although The Franklin s Tale is arguably the most equal out of all the Marriage Groups, its repetition of acts of magnanimity overpowers that equality and turns it into a kind of competition. The foundation of marriage between them is decided together and creates this method of balanced responsibility that is almost ideal but realistically unable to occur due to inherent gender and social expectations. The Franklin s final question regarding who the most free at the end of the tale is very debatable because of the different types of free in Middle English. The Franklin zero s in on that question for only the men and leaves out an important character. Because Dorigen and Arveragus both agreed to the terms of their marriage contract, it seems unfair to leave out Dorigen s impact she has on the overall theme of free ness. So given that each character in this tale is in chain of promised service to another, the ambiguity of the final question proposed by the Franklin complicates the ability to judge who is the most free when including Dorigen. The difficulty of answering the Franklin s question is due to the multipurpose usage of the word free in Middle English. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After anaesthetizing the baboon in an unassuming way (to avoid hormones produced from anticipatory stress) he collected blood samples from their bodies. What he observed was adrenaline and glucocorticoids dictate the stress response. The physiological changes to the body during the stress response are the lungs work overtime to deliver oxygen to the bloodstream, and the heart races to pump oxygen throughout the body so muscles respond instantly. The blood pressure needs to go up to deliver energy. The body will turn off anything that is not essential at that moment. Examples ... She identified over 2400 people who could have been impacted. Her research revealed the stresses they underwent as fetuses still impacted them 60 years later. Babies conceived during the famine have increased risk of cardiovascular disease, higher hypercholesterolemia, are generally more responsive to stress and are in poorer health than people born before the famine or conceived after it. Stress hormones in the mother s blood triggered a change in the fetus nervous system as it struggled to survive. This was the fetus first experience with stress, and 60 years later their bodies remembered the trauma. A paraphilia is a condition in which a person s sexual arousal and gratification depend on fantasizing about and engaging in sexual behavior that is atypical and extreme. One can be charged with numerous CSC charges, spend life on the sex offenders list, go to prison for many years, or even be killed because they are a pedophile. Today, there are roughly 400,000 registered sex offenders in the united states (80 100,000 are unregistered). And 89% of child sexual assault cases involve people known to the child. My opinion is that these people need to be locked up for max sentences according to the law, not life in prison as some would want. These people commit horrible crimes to young children and need to pay for the physical and emotional damage that has left children scarred for life. The most disturbing of them all would have to be Necrophilia. This is the sexual attraction to dead human bodies. Things like touching and having sex with the bodies of the deceased are examples. There are only a dozen or so documented cases; However, it happens more than we would think. Having intercoarse with dead human bodies is a crime in most countries and the punishment in the United States is a felony serving no more than five years in prison.
