Contextualization of Open Educational Resources in Asia and EuropeJan Pawlowski
The presentation shows current developments of OER in Europe and Asia - starting with barriers and analysis of the current status, we realized three case studies, looking at OER in Finland, Malaysia and Philippines. The results lead to 10 main recommendations to achieve successful, cross-border collaborations for learning and teaching using OER.
In this keynote for Anglia Ruskin University's Digifest 2016 I introduced the idea that a convergence of emerging digital contexts is creating a tipping point in understanding the hybrid learning space. This changes the relationships we have with our students and signals at last that digital lifewide learning shifts the balance from a teaching or content-centred paradigm to learning paradigm.
The implications are staff and students need to learning the literacies of this connectivist learning environment.

Presenters proposed a range of theoretical lenses and stimuli through which delegates may guide undergraduate and Level 7 students to develop small-scale qualitative research projects. Delegates engaged in group discussions and activities to explore issues and share ideas about how to support students to become confident, competent researchers.

Educators around the world are utilizing Twitter as a personal learning environment, but how else can microblogging be used in education? From K12 to Higher Education, we will present the possibilities of Twitter and alternative tools in both instructional and student support contexts. We’ll share examples of how elementary, secondary and higher education faculty and institutions are using microblogging to augment communication in thoughtful ways, but we won’t stop there. Social media tools like this require important safety and security considerations as well as outcomes based planning. Join us and identify issues and strategies you’ll need to know about Twitter for educational purposes.
A landscape of new tools has lead to entirely new forms of communication. Learning itself is a ‘mashup.’ Teaching and communicating using online tools creates a conversation that takes place in a cloud. New learning skills and styles emerge. This presentation will introduce three concepts especially relevant to teaching and learning in this potentially overwhelming context: learning ecosystems, organizational biomimicry, and connectivism. This is a concise introduction to what's new in learning and communication and is meant to provide the background knowledge to support changes in practice.

This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.

The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes.
