IRNSS is India's indigenous regional navigation satellite system consisting of 7 satellites in geostationary and geosynchronous orbits developed by ISRO. It provides positioning and timing services to users through satellite signals in L5 and S bands. The system has space, ground, and user segments, with the space segment comprising the satellites, ground segment including control centers, and user segment requiring specialized receivers. Future applications of IRNSS include navigation, vehicle tracking, integration with mobile phones, and precise timing services.
