Info-graphic Research: Storyboard artist
Basically, the story board artist is needed to be able to represent the script with pictures. They will usually work directly
with director to make their visions a reality.
A storyboard artist creates a series of illustrations from a screenplay like a comic book. This is to help the director get a
clear vision of what they need to achieve and helps show what’s needed. Commonly a storyboard would mostly be used
in films with large amounts of action or with CGI where battle scenes, fights, and chases may occur so they may be
visualised and carefully planned. A storyboard artist usually works in the pre-production stage of filming since they must
read the screenplay and discuss with the director the different moods and atmospheres each scene must contain.
Qualifications needed for a storyboard artist would be:
Some form of degree in either fine art, graphics, illustrations or animation
Storyboard artists average £80,487 per year
illustrators is £34,385 per year. The highest earning illustrators average £69,908 per year and the lowest earners average
£14,145 per year
Average wages in the UK 2017 is £27,200, an increase of 1.8% compared with FYE 2016 £26,700
Info-graphic Research: Animator
The role of an animator is to portray the movement, behaviour and moods of characters within a game by making best use of the games
engine’s technology, within the platforms limitations.
To do this you must have a knowledge in 2d and 3d animation techniques, be creative and imaginative, have knowledge of full motion
video (FMV), be able to work as part a team and also on your own initiative, be able to take responsibility for, organising your work within
the production schedule, managing files and meeting deadlines, understand the production process, be able to communicate effectively
with other teams and disciplines is essential, have some knowledge of programming ideally, be able to reveal attitude, emotions and
mood through a character’s movement and behaviour, understand the timing and appearance of human and animal movement and facial
expressions, and be able to lip sync, be able to create memorable characters that will appeal to players, have spatial awareness and a feel
for movement over time
The uses of an animator most often is applied to giving life to game characters and creatures, but sometimes animations are also applied
to other elements such as objects, scenery, vegetation and environmental effects. Animators work closely
with Programmers and Artists to create the best balance between smooth seamless movement and optimised performance on the target
platform. They are also usually responsible for the technical processes of rigging and skinning of the characters, which involves creating
an underlying structure rather like the bones of a skeleton and attaching appropriate body parts to each bone. This makes the animation
process itself a lot more efficient
Qualifications needed would usually be an animation-related degree, including games animation
According to Game Developer Magazine's salary survey, animator salaries are heavily dependent on level of experience. Artists and
animators who have less than three years of experience report an average salary of $49,481 per year. Those with between three and six
years of industry experience average $63,214 per year. Those with over six years of experience report significant salary gains, with an
average annual salary of $97,833.
Info-graphic Research: Games Artist
Creating visual elements of a game, such as characters, scenery, objects, vehicles, surface textures, clothing, etc. Also creating concept art
and storyboards which help communicate to proposed elements during pre-production.
Must be able to draw from life, be able to convey expressions and emotions, have skills in comic book art and/or storyboarding, be
imaginative and creative, have good communication skills, be able to work to a style guide.
Some games try to look as realistic as possible while others aim for a more stylised look. It is the Artist's job to model and texture
characters and objects to achieve the desired result. The look of a game is often a significant factor in its success, second only to its
playability. There are various specialisms within the art department, including 3D object modelling, character design, textures, and
environments. Each Artist has responsibility for the creation of particular art assets with a game, but there is also a lot of movement
between roles. They might also create artwork for packages, promotional materials and websites.
Concept Artist - usually using traditional materials (e.g. pen and paper) rather than computer software, the Concept Artist sketches ideas
for the game worlds, characters, objects, vehicles, furniture, clothing, etc. They also suggest level designs, colour schemes, and the mood
and feel of the game. Although not involved in creating the actual game art, their concept will shape the look of the game
3D Modeller - builds the characters, objects and environments of the game, including life forms, scenery, vegetation, furniture, and
vehicles, etc. They need to balance visual richness and detail with the limitations of the game's technology
2D/Texture Artist - creates and applies textures to characters, environments and game items, such as the surfaces of walls and floors of
buildings. This is also a highly skilled area, which requires considerable knowledge of lighting, perspective, materials and visual effects
Qualifications needed would be the same as most Artists in the games industry possessing a degree or HND in an art subject, such as fine
art, graphic design or illustration.
Average wages for a games artist is £20,757, but larger companies can pay up to £50,000 a year

In this image the father has just realized his daughters boyfriend is English giving him the
shock of his life. He goes through the advert finding out things about the boyfriend that
normally he wouldn’t find funny from the faces he pulls and the way he breaths in the advert.
At the end of the advert the boyfriends dog walks in with the English flag over its back, walks
onto the Scottish flag rug, and farts on it. Showing disrespect towards the fathers country.
This image of the father smiling is after he takes the sip of Irn Bru, and how it changes
negative attitude into positive. From finding out his Scottish daughter is in love with a
British guy, To a dog with the English flag on its back farting onto the Scottish flag rug. A
lot of disrespect is thrown at the dad and he would look shocked, then breath in
heavily as if he was about to shout before drinking the Irn Bru that calmed him down
everytime.
Client research: Ad 2
Narrative, persuasion, lines of appeal
Use screen shots, images and links to help show your research.
At the beginning of the trailer the old man talks about how working in the garden can be
thirsty work and how kind his grandson was for getting him a fiery Irn Bru. This happens
with all the people in this advert, they do something tough in their life so a grandchild gives
them a fiery Irn Bru.
After the old man takes a sip he pulls a shocked face and says ”wa” before he gets cut of
onto a different old guy, who begins with the word “anchor”. This in the video creates a
foul word but they never fully say any foul words singly, they put two videos together.
Another example is when one guys finishes his sip and says “cra” to be cut out into
another guy saying “rap”. Creating a fine line with regulations of adverts.
Client research: Ad 3
Narrative, persuasion, lines of appeal
Use screen shots, images and links to help show your research.
At the beginning of the
advert the guy is looking
bored, very tired, and out
of energy. As if he was
about to fall asleep at the
desk. When something
crazy happens
After a close up of his face a
man in a bird costume bursts
through the wall shouting
“Wakey, Wakey”. Wiping the
tired look of the guy.
In this image the man has taken
a sip of the Irn Bru 32 and looks
a lot more awake and still
shocked from a massive man in
a bird suit going through the
wall. Which could be like that to
represent the kick it gives when
you drink it
In this image the birdman has been
interrupted by the librarian telling
him to be quite. His response “ill
sush you ya tweedy old crow” Has
many different things in it to look at.
Firstly, he’s saying to a librarian that
he’ll sush her which is quite ironic,
But then he called her tweedy old
crow since she’s more reserved and
sits with books all day. This could be
a way of saying that “you would
understand so go back to your
books”
Market research:
Things to consider:
What market is your client part of
From research I’ve discovered many sites which have different facts of the soft
drinks world. Firstly, the pie chart at the top left is all the types of drinks sold in
the UK with percentages. This helps show how big soft drinks market is
compared with other drinks. After looking further into this I found another pie
chart with more detail on the soft drinks. It shows the majority of flavours sold
is in the cola area like Coke and Pepsi. The second biggest being others, this is
where we would find Irn-Bru but since it’s mixed with many other products we
can’t be precise with calculations of sales percentage. The top bar chart
provides the market value of soft drinks currently in euros, the largest being
€18,747 in pounds this would be £16,740. On the right side of the page there is
a line graph showing the stocks of Irn-Bru and how it’s increased over the years.
Market research:
Things to consider:
who is their competition?
The graph to the left shows the market value of different
products in the UK. At the top of the list is supermarket
brands which are basically heaper copies of different
lemonades, colas, and juices. If we took those out Coca cola
would be at the top with £796 million GBP, compared to the
rest of the drinks it storms through the competition with it’s
biggest rival company Pepsi only having half it’s Value at £340
million GBP. This graph shows the top 10 brands in the UK,
unfortunately Irn-Bru doesn’t have a place on this list since it
only dominates in Scotland and England's public prefers
brands they’ve know longest.

Basic Idea: Soldier in a tough situation and need a solution quickly. He drinks the Irn Bru and gets the cordage to face his enemy. He holds his
sword up patiently, as the enemy fires their last shot he blocks it with his sword and attacks with his sword. As the sword is about to hit it would go
black to the classic Irn Bru ending with a voice saying “gets you through the toughest situations”.
Protagonist would look like he’s been dragged through a bush backwards, and the antagonist look fresh and lively.
The outfits would include. An army outfit for the protagonist and casual wear for the antagonist with a police badge showing he’s gone dirty.
Props needed would be a pack of Irn Bru, 100% wouldn’t happen perfectly in 1 cut, The sword for the protagonist, and the fake gun for the
antagonist. To add some realism the army guy could have a; BP-vest, backpack, facepaint.

  • 3. Info-graphic Research: Storyboard artist Basically, the story board artist is needed to be able to represent the script with pictures. They will usually work directly with director to make their visions a reality. A storyboard artist creates a series of illustrations from a screenplay like a comic book. This is to help the director get a clear vision of what they need to achieve and helps show what’s needed. Commonly a storyboard would mostly be used in films with large amounts of action or with CGI where battle scenes, fights, and chases may occur so they may be visualised and carefully planned. A storyboard artist usually works in the pre-production stage of filming since they must read the screenplay and discuss with the director the different moods and atmospheres each scene must contain. Qualifications needed for a storyboard artist would be: Some form of degree in either fine art, graphics, illustrations or animation Storyboard artists average £80,487 per year illustrators is £34,385 per year. The highest earning illustrators average £69,908 per year and the lowest earners average £14,145 per year Average wages in the UK 2017 is £27,200, an increase of 1.8% compared with FYE 2016 £26,700
  • 4. Info-graphic Research: Animator The role of an animator is to portray the movement, behaviour and moods of characters within a game by making best use of the games engine’s technology, within the platforms limitations. To do this you must have a knowledge in 2d and 3d animation techniques, be creative and imaginative, have knowledge of full motion video (FMV), be able to work as part a team and also on your own initiative, be able to take responsibility for, organising your work within the production schedule, managing files and meeting deadlines, understand the production process, be able to communicate effectively with other teams and disciplines is essential, have some knowledge of programming ideally, be able to reveal attitude, emotions and mood through a character’s movement and behaviour, understand the timing and appearance of human and animal movement and facial expressions, and be able to lip sync, be able to create memorable characters that will appeal to players, have spatial awareness and a feel for movement over time The uses of an animator most often is applied to giving life to game characters and creatures, but sometimes animations are also applied to other elements such as objects, scenery, vegetation and environmental effects. Animators work closely with Programmers and Artists to create the best balance between smooth seamless movement and optimised performance on the target platform. They are also usually responsible for the technical processes of rigging and skinning of the characters, which involves creating an underlying structure rather like the bones of a skeleton and attaching appropriate body parts to each bone. This makes the animation process itself a lot more efficient Qualifications needed would usually be an animation-related degree, including games animation According to Game Developer Magazine's salary survey, animator salaries are heavily dependent on level of experience. Artists and animators who have less than three years of experience report an average salary of $49,481 per year. Those with between three and six years of industry experience average $63,214 per year. Those with over six years of experience report significant salary gains, with an average annual salary of $97,833.

Info-graphic Research: Games Artist Creating visual elements of a game, such as characters, scenery, objects, vehicles, surface textures, clothing, etc. Also creating concept art and storyboards which help communicate to proposed elements during pre-production. Must be able to draw from life, be able to convey expressions and emotions, have skills in comic book art and/or storyboarding, be imaginative and creative, have good communication skills, be able to work to a style guide. Some games try to look as realistic as possible while others aim for a more stylised look. It is the Artist's job to model and texture characters and objects to achieve the desired result. The look of a game is often a significant factor in its success, second only to its playability. There are various specialisms within the art department, including 3D object modelling, character design, textures, and environments. Each Artist has responsibility for the creation of particular art assets with a game, but there is also a lot of movement between roles. They might also create artwork for packages, promotional materials and websites. Concept Artist - usually using traditional materials (e.g. pen and paper) rather than computer software, the Concept Artist sketches ideas for the game worlds, characters, objects, vehicles, furniture, clothing, etc. They also suggest level designs, colour schemes, and the mood and feel of the game. Although not involved in creating the actual game art, their concept will shape the look of the game 3D Modeller - builds the characters, objects and environments of the game, including life forms, scenery, vegetation, furniture, and vehicles, etc. They need to balance visual richness and detail with the limitations of the game's technology 2D/Texture Artist - creates and applies textures to characters, environments and game items, such as the surfaces of walls and floors of buildings. This is also a highly skilled area, which requires considerable knowledge of lighting, perspective, materials and visual effects Qualifications needed would be the same as most Artists in the games industry possessing a degree or HND in an art subject, such as fine art, graphic design or illustration. Average wages for a games artist is £20,757, but larger companies can pay up to £50,000 a year

Things to consider: how do they advertise their products? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9UprxM_aBWk Dad meets daughters boyfriend (1) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RmxS2DreHcU Fiery irn bru – Male advert (2) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JhHP3hP_0Pg Irn bru 32 (3)
  • 12. Client research: Ad 1 Narrative, persuasion, lines of appeal Use screen shots, images and links to help show your research. In this image the father has just realized his daughters boyfriend is English giving him the shock of his life. He goes through the advert finding out things about the boyfriend that normally he wouldn’t find funny from the faces he pulls and the way he breaths in the advert. At the end of the advert the boyfriends dog walks in with the English flag over its back, walks onto the Scottish flag rug, and farts on it. Showing disrespect towards the fathers country. This image of the father smiling is after he takes the sip of Irn Bru, and how it changes negative attitude into positive. From finding out his Scottish daughter is in love with a British guy, To a dog with the English flag on its back farting onto the Scottish flag rug. A lot of disrespect is thrown at the dad and he would look shocked, then breath in heavily as if he was about to shout before drinking the Irn Bru that calmed him down everytime.
  • 13. Client research: Ad 2 Narrative, persuasion, lines of appeal Use screen shots, images and links to help show your research. At the beginning of the trailer the old man talks about how working in the garden can be thirsty work and how kind his grandson was for getting him a fiery Irn Bru. This happens with all the people in this advert, they do something tough in their life so a grandchild gives them a fiery Irn Bru. After the old man takes a sip he pulls a shocked face and says ”wa” before he gets cut of onto a different old guy, who begins with the word “anchor”. This in the video creates a foul word but they never fully say any foul words singly, they put two videos together. Another example is when one guys finishes his sip and says “cra” to be cut out into another guy saying “rap”. Creating a fine line with regulations of adverts.
  • 14. Client research: Ad 3 Narrative, persuasion, lines of appeal Use screen shots, images and links to help show your research. At the beginning of the advert the guy is looking bored, very tired, and out of energy. As if he was about to fall asleep at the desk. When something crazy happens After a close up of his face a man in a bird costume bursts through the wall shouting “Wakey, Wakey”. Wiping the tired look of the guy. In this image the man has taken a sip of the Irn Bru 32 and looks a lot more awake and still shocked from a massive man in a bird suit going through the wall. Which could be like that to represent the kick it gives when you drink it In this image the birdman has been interrupted by the librarian telling him to be quite. His response “ill sush you ya tweedy old crow” Has many different things in it to look at. Firstly, he’s saying to a librarian that he’ll sush her which is quite ironic, But then he called her tweedy old crow since she’s more reserved and sits with books all day. This could be a way of saying that “you would understand so go back to your books”
  • 15. Market research: Things to consider: What market is your client part of From research I’ve discovered many sites which have different facts of the soft drinks world. Firstly, the pie chart at the top left is all the types of drinks sold in the UK with percentages. This helps show how big soft drinks market is compared with other drinks. After looking further into this I found another pie chart with more detail on the soft drinks. It shows the majority of flavours sold is in the cola area like Coke and Pepsi. The second biggest being others, this is where we would find Irn-Bru but since it’s mixed with many other products we can’t be precise with calculations of sales percentage. The top bar chart provides the market value of soft drinks currently in euros, the largest being €18,747 in pounds this would be £16,740. On the right side of the page there is a line graph showing the stocks of Irn-Bru and how it’s increased over the years.
  • 16. Market research: Things to consider: who is their competition? The graph to the left shows the market value of different products in the UK. At the top of the list is supermarket brands which are basically heaper copies of different lemonades, colas, and juices. If we took those out Coca cola would be at the top with £796 million GBP, compared to the rest of the drinks it storms through the competition with it’s biggest rival company Pepsi only having half it’s Value at £340 million GBP. This graph shows the top 10 brands in the UK, unfortunately Irn-Bru doesn’t have a place on this list since it only dominates in Scotland and England's public prefers brands they’ve know longest.

He holds his sword up patiently, as the enemy fires their last shot he blocks it with his sword and attacks with his sword. As the sword is about to hit it would go black to the classic Irn Bru ending with a voice saying “gets you through the toughest situations”. Protagonist would look like he’s been dragged through a bush backwards, and the antagonist look fresh and lively. The outfits would include. An army outfit for the protagonist and casual wear for the antagonist with a police badge showing he’s gone dirty. Props needed would be a pack of Irn Bru, 100% wouldn’t happen perfectly in 1 cut, The sword for the protagonist, and the fake gun for the antagonist. To add some realism the army guy could have a; BP-vest, backpack, facepaint.
