An Application of Green Quality Function Deployment to Designing an Air Condi...IJERA Editor
The paper tackles a systematic and operational approach to Green Quality Function Deployment (GQFD), a customer oriented survey based quality management system with regular improvement in product development. GQFD shows balance between product development and environmental protection. GQFD is not used to determine their attributes and their levels. GQFD captures what product developers “think” would best satisfy customer needs considering Environmental factor. This research used Air Conditioner as a case study for implementation of GQFD. In the design of a new Air Conditioner, apply GQFD to find out the most important parameter and functions from customer point of view and then find out Technical Characteristics. These important parameters are then put into house of quality and make relation matrix between voice of customer and Technical Characteristics. From the result of QFD applied to Air Conditioner are short out the parameter which are require modification according to voice of customer and the result has used for new design.
The objective of this paper is to present and discuss the main obstacles and benefits of the use of the Earned Value Analysis in projects, including factors to be improved and implemented during the project plan and actions to be taken while the project is accomplished and controlled. Also, through a real case study in civil construction field, the applicability of the technique is faced with a theoretical reference, in order to identify aspects of the applicability of the tool tested in case study.
COMPRESSED NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT CYCLE & ITS IMPACT ON OUTSOURCING DECISION...ijmvsc
The compulsion to continuous development of new product has resulted in compressed product life cycle.A
consequence of this compressed product life cycle is the time crunch or the “schedule pressure” that the
new product development (NPD) team in a company confronts. The time-to-market or schedule pressure
can be one of the main reason of increasing outsourcing activities related to NPD as outsourcing brings
together multiple best-in-class suppliers work simultaneously on individual components of a system and
gives the company required flexibility in regards to NPD .The main hypothesis of this paper is to find out
whether schedule pressure on NPD encourages outsourcing. The study aims to explore the impact of
schedule pressure in NPD in the auto component industry. The other aim isto assess the relationship
between schedule pressure in NPD and the outsourcing decision.

Case study: A fresh approach of the
Balanced Scorecard in the Heathrow
Terminal 5 project
Ron Basu, Chris Little and Chris Millard
Summary
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to present a case study of the Heathrow Terminal 5 project and
to illustrate a customised application of the Balanced Scorecard in a major infrastructure project with
multiple stakeholders.
Design/methodology/approach – The research methodology applied in this work was based on the
case study methodology. The focus was on ‘‘how’’ questions and exploratory analysis of primary and
secondary data supported in-depth interviews with members from both the project team and suppliers.
Findings – The application of the concept of the Balanced Scorecard by Kaplan and Norton in project
management is less frequent in comparison with operations management. The study has established a
proven application of the Balanced Scorecard in managing quality in a major infrastructure project.
Practical implications – For practitioners of major projects the paper gives implications for
implementing the theoretical and customising requirements of the Balanced Scorecard involving key
stakeholders.
Originality/value – The paper illustrates that metrics can be customised for major projects within the
framework of the Kaplan and Norton Balanced Scorecard and that suppliers should be empowered to
own the monitoring and improvement process using their performance data.

1. Introduction
Heathrow Terminal 5 opened on 27 March 2008 with high expectations. It represents a major
step in the transformation of Heathrow and it is now amajor gateway to the UK. From the start
T5 was different and it needed to be due to its size, complexity and proximity. Despite some
teething problems on opening, T5 was a catalyst for new and improved ways of working.
One such initiative is the application of a Balanced Scorecard approach in managing quality
in major projects.
For nearly two decades organisations in both the manufacturing and service industries have
been working arduously at trying to bring the power, discipline and rigour of performance
measurement into their organisations based on the Balanced Scorecard. The concept of a
Balanced Scorecard by Kaplan and Norton (1996) is a strategic measurement system
organised in four perspectives (financial, customer, internal processes, and learning and
growth) that aims to establish tangible performance indicators in all functions of the
business. One of the proven virtues of this system is that it proposes a balance between
concepts that could be contradictory to managers. For example, it aims to balance between
short-term and longer-term objectives, financial measures versus operational measures,
internal performance versus external performance, enabling indicators versus results
indicators and between leading an ...
QUALITY MANAGEMENT PRACTICES OF CONTRACTING FIRMS IN BUILDING PROJECT DELIVERYIAEME Publication
The study sets out to examine the quality management practices of contractors in
building project delivery in Nigeria. The research study is an organizational based
study where top professionals from contracting firms in Lagos were the target
respondents. The study adopted a quantitative research method with the use of
questionnaire to elicit data from the respondents. The study revealed that quality
control procedure is the top ranked quality management system adopted by
contracting firms in building project delivery. The top ranked barrier and benefit of
quality management practices of contracting firms are shortage of skilled workers and
improvement in company reputation. The research indicated that there is a statistical
significant difference was found in compliance with QMS between multinational
construction firms and indigenous construction firms. The poor quality associated
with most construction project in Nigeria, leading to clients’ dissatisfaction could be
linked with the industry not adopting the quality management systems as adopted in
the construction industry of most developed countries
With the advent of present policies of liberalization, Privatization and globalization the economic scenario has completely transformed in last one and half decade. By way of the continuous inflow of Multinationals and trend towards Global bidding, our construction companies have to face tough competition within the country as well as outside the country to win the contracts. They have to be competitive in terms of cost, time Schedule and Quality of a construction project to be ahead in the bidding run. If we study the total construction process for a particular project right from inception of the idea to start up and finally execution and making it open for use, at each and every phase quality management is required to get an end product which is possessing total quality thus having zero defect from the point of view of customer. To stand today in the competition what construction firms must strive today is not only for customer satisfaction but also for customer delight one step ahead of customer satisfaction. Total Quality Management is a beliefs which can bring about revolutionary change in construction Industry by completion of construction projects with trouble free structures and longer life and thus help in becoming global. Cosmetic shop management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
Buying new cosmetic products is difficult. It can even be scary for those who have sensitive skin and are prone to skin trouble. The information needed to alleviate this problem is on the back of each product, but it's thought to interpret those ingredient lists unless you have a background in chemistry.
Instead of buying and hoping for the best, we can use data science to help us predict which products may be good fits for us. It includes various function programs to do the above mentioned tasks.
Data file handling has been effectively used in the program.
The automated cosmetic shop management system should deal with the automation of general workflow and administration process of the shop. The main processes of the system focus on customer's request where the system is able to search the most appropriate products and deliver it to the customers. It should help the employees to quickly identify the list of cosmetic product that have reached the minimum quantity and also keep a track of expired date for each cosmetic product. It should help the employees to find the rack number in which the product is placed. It is also Faster and more efficient way.
CFD Simulation of By-pass Flow in a HRSG module by R&R Consult.pptxR&R Consult
CFD analysis is incredibly effective at solving mysteries and improving the performance of complex systems!
Here's a great example: At a large natural gas-fired power plant, where they use waste heat to generate steam and energy, they were puzzled that their boiler wasn't producing as much steam as expected.
R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.
It is always satisfying when we can help solve complex challenges like this. Do your systems also need a check-up or optimization? Give us a call!
Work done in cooperation with James Malloy and David Moelling from Tetra Engineering.

Hierarchical Digital Twin of a Naval Power SystemKerry Sado
A hierarchical digital twin of a Naval DC power system has been developed and experimentally verified. Similar to other state-of-the-art digital twins, this technology creates a digital replica of the physical system executed in real-time or faster, which can modify hardware controls. However, its advantage stems from distributing computational efforts by utilizing a hierarchical structure composed of lower-level digital twin blocks and a higher-level system digital twin. Each digital twin block is associated with a physical subsystem of the hardware and communicates with a singular system digital twin, which creates a system-level response. By extracting information from each level of the hierarchy, power system controls of the hardware were reconfigured autonomously. This hierarchical digital twin development offers several advantages over other digital twins, particularly in the field of naval power systems. The hierarchical structure allows for greater computational efficiency and scalability while the ability to autonomously reconfigure hardware controls offers increased flexibility and responsiveness. The hierarchical decomposition and models utilized were well aligned with the physical twin, as indicated by the maximum deviations between the developed digital twin hierarchy and the hardware.
