- The document presents an experimental study on reinforced concrete frames infilled with mud concrete blocks.
- Three types of frames were tested under repeated lateral loads: a bare frame, a frame infilled with mud concrete blocks, and a frame infilled with mud concrete blocks that had a central opening.
- The performance of the infilled frames was compared based on strength, stiffness, energy dissipation, and crack distribution. The results provide insights into the behavior and properties of mud concrete blocks for use as sustainable infill materials in reinforced concrete frames.
Precast construction techniques have gained huge popularity in the recent times
due to rapid construction, excellent quality control, lesser site labour costs and more
overall savings. In the current scenario, the most advanced type of prestressed
construction is the manufacture of prestressed hollow core slab construction, which
essentially consists of huge prestressed concrete panel units cast to the required slab
dimensions. The construction is associated with the requirement of huge machinery
for transportation, hoisting and placing operations. In the present study, a partially
prestressed slab of dimensions 4000 mm × 600 mm × 120 mm was designed and cast.
An RCC slab was also designed for comparing the behaviour of the prestressed
hollow slab. The present study discussed about the flexural behaviour of pretensioned
prestressed concrete hollow slab. The slab which was designed for this study
consisted of three hollow cores, each having a diameter of three centimeters. A
special mould was designed for casting, which was capable of withstanding huge
prestressing forces. The hollow core provided within the specimen is an excellent
method to improve material savings, thermal and sound insulation properties, besides
being a provision for mechanical runs. The slab was cast and experimentally tested by
subjecting it to uniformly distributed loads using sand bags to study the flexural
behaviour of the slab.

An Experimental Investigation on Mode-II Fracture of Light Weight Pumice Aggr...IJMER
Shear strength is a property of major significance for wide range of civil engineering
materials and structures. Shear and punching shear failures particularly in deep beams in corbels and in
concrete flat slabs are considered to be more critical and catastrophic than other types of failures. To study
such failures the past literature suggests best suited geometry as Double Centered Notched (DCN)
specimen geometry proposed by Sri Prakash Desai and Sri Bhaskar Desai. In the present scenario light
weight aggregate has been the subject of extensive research which affects the strength properties of cement
concrete. Light weight aggregate concrete has become more popular in recent advancements owing to the
tremendous advantages it offers over the conventional concrete but at the same time light in weight and
strong enough to be used for structural purposes. In this present experimental investigation an attempt is
made to study the Mode-II fracture properties of natural light weight aggregate concrete, such as pumice
aggregate (which is volcanic based and imported from Turkey) concrete. By varying the percentage of light
weight pumice aggregate in concrete replacing the conventional granite aggregate in percentages like 0%,
25%, 50%, 75% and 100% by volume of concrete, the mode-II fracture property such as in plane shear
strength is studied. Finally an analysis is carried out regarding Mode-II fracture properties of pumice
concrete and it is concluded that shear strength is decreased continuously with increase in percentage of
pumice.

As compared to conventional concrete the benefits of SCC comprising more strength like non SCC, may be higher due to better compaction, similar tensile strength like non SCC, modulus of elasticity may be slightly lower because of higher paste, slightly higher creep due to paste, shrinkage as normal concrete, better bond strength, fire resistance similar as non SCC, durability better for better surface concrete. Incorporation of fibers further enhances its properties specially related to post crack behavior of SCC. The fibers used in the study are 12 mm long chopped glass fiber and carbon fiber. The volume fraction of fiber taken is 0%, 0.1%, 0.15%, 0.2%. The project comprised of two stages.
A Review Study on Effect of Steel Fibre and Marble Dust with Strength of Pave...ijtsrd
There is growing interest in the construction of concrete pavements, due to its high strength, durability, better serviceability and overall economy in the long run. The thrust nowadays is to produce thinner and green pavement sections of better quality, which can carry the heavy loads. The high strength steel fibre reinforced concrete is a concrete having compressive strength greater than 40MPa, made of hydraulic cements and containing fine and coarse aggregates; and discontinuous, unconnected, randomly distributed steel fibres. The present study aims at, developing pavement quality concrete mixtures incorporating marble dust as partial replacement of cement as well as steel fibres. The aim is to the design of slab thickness of PQC pavement using the achieved flexural strength of the concrete mixtures. In this study, the flexural, compressive and split tensile strength for pavement quality concrete mixtures for different percentage of steel fibres and replacement of cement with marble dust are reported. It is found out the maximum increase in flexure strength, compressive strength and split tensile strength is for 0% Marble Dust and 1% Steel fibre. Also it has been possible to achieve savings in cement by replacing it with marble dust and adding fibres. This study also shows that in view of the high flexural strength, high values of compressive strength and high values of split tensile strength, higher load carrying capacity and higher life expectancy, the combination of 10 to 20% marble dust replacement along with addition of 0.5 to 1% steel fibres is ideal for design of Pavement Quality Concrete (PQC). Abstract : The Now a day, we need to look at a way to reduce the cost of building materials, particularly
cement is currently so high that only rich people and governments can afford meaningful construction. Studies
have been carried out to investigate the possibility of utilizing a broad range of materials as partial replacement
materials for cement in the production of concrete. This study investigated the strength properties of Silica fume
and fly ash concrete. This work primarily deals with the strength characteristics such as compressive, Split
tensile and flexural strength. High performance concrete a set of 7 different concrete mixture were cast and
tested with different cement replacement levels (0%, 2.5%, 5%, 7.5%, 10% 12.5% and15%) of Fly ash (FA) with
silica fume (SF) as addition ( 0%,5%,10 % ,15% ,25and 30%) by wt of Cement and/or each trial super
plasticizer has been added at constant values to achieve a constant range of slump for desired work ability with
a constant water-binder (w/b) ratio of 0.30.Specimens were produced and cured in a curing tank for 3, 7, 14
and 28 days. The cubes were subjected to compressive strength tests after density determination at 3,7,14 and
28 days respectively. The chemical composition and physical composition of micro silica, FlyAsh and cement
were determined. The density of the concrete decreased with increased in percentage of micro silica and Fly ash
replacement up to 15%. Increase in the level of micro silica fume and Fly ash replacement between 30% to 45%
led to a reduction in the compressive strength of hardened concrete. This study has shown that between 15 to
22.5% replacement levels, concrete will develop strength sufficient for construction purposes. Its use will lead
to a reduction in cement quantity required for construction purposes and hence sustainability in the
construction industry as well as aid economic construction.

The number of areas in units is currently reducing daily due to the large population. Earlier, when populations werent as large, they continued to employ the horizontal arrangement due to the large area available per person . However, individuals today choose the vertical system tall building due to scarcity of area . All of the forces acting on the structure, including its own weight and the grounds ability to support it, must be taken into consideration. STAAD PRO will facilitate the process. Static analysis, seismic analysis, and natural frequency are examples of problems that STAAD PRO can address with IS CODE. Analysis of precast shear wall connection state of the art revieweSAT Journals
Abstract The behavior of precast members in whole structure is different than cast in situ member due to their joints condition. So it is important to study the behavior of precast concrete member and its joints for whole structural configuration and loading condition. The precast concrete shear wall system is very important for construction due to economical advantages speed of construction. The connections between panels are extremely important since they affect both the speed of erection and the overall integrity of the structure. Comprehensive review reveals the significance of detailed analysis required for stress distribution form the precast member to the structural system to encounter the shear stresses generated during an earthquake event.

EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON STRENGTH BEHAVIOUR OF SELF COMPACTING CONCRETE USING RE...AM Publications
The construction of modern structures alarming the attention of use of materials with improved properties
in respect of strength, stiffness, toughness and durability. Concrete is one of the most widely used construction material
having several advantages such as high strength, good mould ability and high durability. The major disadvantages of
concrete are its poorer tensile strength and lesser ductility (toughness). Conventional concrete used in building
construction and engineering applications requires compaction to attain strength, durability and homogeneity. The
typical method of compaction, by vibration, generates delays and additional costs in projects and could pose a serious
health hazard due to noise pollution in and around construction sites. Self Compacting Concrete (SCC) is a concrete
which is highly flowble, can flows readily into place, fill the formwork without any compaction and without undergoing
any significant segregation. Recycling is the act of processing the used material for creating a new useful product.
Construction and Demolished waste also generate Recycled Aggregate (RA). Such a Recycled Aggregate proved to be a
reliable alternative to Natural Aggregates (NA) in concrete. There is a growing need for renovation from a usual
consumption based society to a sustainable society owing the natural environment pollution, exhaustion of natural
resources and as decreasing capacity of disposal facilities for final waste. Use of aggregates from Building Demolished
Waste (BDW) in structural concrete is definitely an important stride. Use of RA in developing SCC is certainly a novel
thought towards achieving a sustainable concrete. There is a pressing demand for the use of Recycled Aggregate in
recent concretes, as sustainability is given the highest importance in today’s world. This has necessitated the make use
of Recycled Aggregates in SCC and fibre based SCC. Hence Reinforced Self Compacting Concrete using Recycled
Aggregate with fibres may be a potential material in construction. In order to clearly understand the performance of
such a concrete, there is a call for to study the stress-strain and flexural strength behaviour. The present study focuses
on flexural bond strength behaviour of Fibre Reinforced Self Compacting Concrete by replacing the natural Aggregate
with Recycled Aggregate. BDW is used as coarse aggregate in the concrete, with an aim to achieve sustainable concrete.
