This document describes the design and fabrication of a PLC and SCADA-controlled robotic arm for material handling. The robotic arm uses pneumatic cylinders connected by joints to move along three axes (X, Y, and Z). A mechanical gripper is attached to the end of the arm to grip objects on a conveyor belt. The movements of the pneumatic cylinders and gripper are controlled by a PLC based on sensor inputs from the conveyor belt. The PLC and robotic arm are integrated with a SCADA system for centralized control and monitoring. The robotic arm is intended to automate repetitive picking and placing tasks to reduce labor costs compared to manual operations.

Fractional order PID for tracking control of a parallel robotic manipulator t...ISA Interchange
This paper presents the tracking control for a robotic manipulator type delta employing fractional order PID controllers with computed torque control strategy. It is contrasted with an integer order PID controller with computed torque control strategy. The mechanical structure, kinematics and dynamic models of the delta robot are descripted. A SOLIDWORKS/MSC-ADAMS/MATLAB co-simulation model of the delta robot is built and employed for the stages of identification, design, and validation of control strategies. Identification of the dynamic model of the robot is performed using the least squares algorithm. A linearized model of the robotic system is obtained employing the computed torque control strategy resulting in a decoupled double integrating system. From the linearized model of the delta robot, fractional order PID and integer order PID controllers are designed, analyzing the dynamical behavior for many evaluation trajectories. Controllers robustness is evaluated against external disturbances employing performance indexes for the joint and spatial error, applied torque in the joints and trajectory tracking. Results show that fractional order PID with the computed torque control strategy has a robust performance and active disturbance rejection when it is applied to parallel robotic manipulators on tracking tasks.

Low cost Real Time Centralized Speed Control of DC Motor Using Lab View -NI U...IJPEDS-IAES
DC motors are an outstanding portion of apparatus used in automotive and automation industrial applications requiring variable speed and load characteristics, due to its ease of controllability. Creating an interface control system for multi DC motor drive operations with centralized speed control, from small-scale models to large industrial applications is in much demand. By using Lab VIEW (laboratory virtual instrument engineering workbench) as the motor controller, we can control a DC motor for multiple purposes using single software environment. The aim of this paper is to propose the centralized speed control of DC motor using Lab VIEW. Here, Lab VIEW is used for simulating the motor, whereas the input armature voltage of the DC motor is controlled using a virtual Knob in Lab VIEW software. The hardware part of the system (DC motor) and the software (in personal computer) are interfaced using a data acquisition card (DAQ) -Model PCI- 6024E. The voltage and Speed response is obtained using LABVIEW software. Using this software, the speed of a group of motors can be controlled from different locations using remote telemetry. The proposed work also focuses on controlling the speed of the individual DC motor using PWM scheme (Duty cycle based Square wave generation) and DAQ. With the help of the DAQ along with Lab VIEW front panel window, the DC motor speed and directions can be changed easily in remote way. In order to test the proposed system the laboratory model for an80W DC motor group (multi drive) is developed for different angular displacements and directions of the motor. The simulation model and experimental results conforms the advantages and robustness of the proposed centralized speed control.
Estimating the parameters of a geared DC motor is crucial in terms of its non-linear features. In this paper, parameters of a geared DC motor are estimated genetically. Mathematical model of the DC motor is determined by Kirchhoff’s law and dynamic model of its shafts and gearbox. Parameters of the geared DC motor are initially estimated by MATLAB/SIMULINK. The estimated parameters are defined as initial values for Genetic Algorithm (GA) to minimize the error of the simulated and actual angular trajectory captured by an encoder. The optimal estimated model of the geared DC motor is validated by different voltages as the input of the actual DC motor and its mathematical model. The results and numerical analysis illustrate it can be ascertained that GA is appropriate to estimate the parameters of platforms with non linear characteristics.

Balancing a Segway robot using LQR controller based on genetic and bacteria f...TELKOMNIKA JOURNAL
A two-wheeled single seat Segway robot is a special kind of wheeled mobile robot, using it as a human transporter system needs applying a robust control system to overcome its inherent unstable problem. The mathematical model of the system dynamics is derived and then state space formulation for the system is presented to enable design state feedback controller scheme. In this research, an optimal control system based on linear quadratic regulator (LQR) technique is proposed to stabilize the mobile robot. The LQR controller is designed to control the position and yaw rotation of the two-wheeled vehicle. The proposed balancing robot system is validated by simulating the LQR using Matlab software. Two tuning methods, genetic algorithm (GA) and bacteria foraging optimization algorithm (BFOA) are used to obtain optimal values for controller parameters. A comparison between the performance of both controllers GA-LQR and BFO-LQR is achieved based on the standard control criteria which includes rise time, maximum overshoot, settling time and control input of the system. Simulation results suggest that the BFOA-LQR controller can be adopted to balance the Segway robot with minimal overshoot and oscillation frequency.
Path tracking control of differential drive mobile robot based on chaotic-bi...IJECEIAES
Mobile robots are typically depending only on robot kinematics control. However, when high-speed motions and highly loaded transfer are considered, it is necessary to analyze dynamics of the robot to limit tracking error. The goal of this paper is to present a new algorithm, chaotic-billiards optimizer (C-BO) to optimize internal controller parameters of a differentialdrive mobile robot (DDMR)-based dynamic model. The C-BO algorithm is notable for its ease of implementation, minimal number of design parameters, high convergence speed, and low computing burden. In addition, a comparison between the performance of C-BO and ant colony optimization (ACO) to determine the optimum controller coefficient that provides superior performance and convergence of the path tracking. The ISE criterion is selected as a fitness function in a simulation-based optimization strategy. For the point of accuracy, the velocity-based dynamic compensation controller was successfully integrated with the motion controller proposed in this study for the robot's kinematics. Control structure of the model was tested using MATLAB/Simulink. The results demonstrate that the suggested C-BO, with steady state error performance of 0.6 percent compared to ACO's 0.8 percent, is the optimum alternative for parameter optimizing the controller for precise path tracking. Also, it offers advantages of quick response, high tracking precision, and outstanding anti-interference capability
Mathematical modeling and kinematic analysis of 5 degrees of freedom serial l...IJECEIAES
Modeling and kinematic analysis are crucial jobs in robotics that entail identifying the position of the robot’s joints in order to accomplish particular tasks. This article uses an algebraic approach to model the kinematics of a serial link, 5 degrees of freedom (DOF) manipulator. The analytical method is compared to an optimization strategy known as sequential least squares programming (SLSQP). Using an Intel RealSense 3D camera, the colored object is picked up and placed using vision-based technology, and the pixel location of the object is translated into robot coordinates. The LOBOT LX15D serial bus servo controller was used to transmit these coordinates to the robotic arm. Python3 programming language was used throughout the entire analysis. The findings demonstrated that both analytical and optimized inverse kinematic solutions correctly identified colored objects and positioned them in their appropriate goal points.

Towards Rapid Implementation of Adaptive Robotic SystemsMeshDynamics
Current automation design practice produces expensive one-of-a-kind installations where the system cannot be easily modified to
meet changing demands or advancements in technology. It is imperative that we design robot systems to be modular, portable and
easily re-configurable in order to reduce the design lead times and life cycle costs of providing automation alternatives.
The Unified Tele-robotics Architecture Program (UTAP) was developed under the sponsorship of the US Air Force Robotics and
Automation Center of Excellence. A goal of the program was to define and develop prototypes of commonly used software building
blocks for sensor guided real time embedded control of telerobotic devices. Standard building blocks and a non-proprietary
communication protocols would provide the Air Force and specifically the Logistic Centers with a support infrastructure designed to
rapidly and efficiently build and maintain mission critical automation systems.
Efficient and secure real-time mobile robots cooperation using visual servoing IJECEIAES
This paper deals with the challenging problem of navigation in formation of mobiles robots fleet. For that purpose, a secure approach is used based on visual servoing to control velocities (linear and angular) of the multiple robots. To construct our system, we develop the interaction matrix which combines the moments in the image with robots velocities and we estimate the depth between each robot and the targeted object. This is done without any communication between the robots which eliminate the problem of the influence of each robot errors on the whole. For a successful visual servoing, we propose a powerful mechanism to execute safely the robots navigation, exploiting a robot accident reporting system using raspberry Pi3. This reporting system testbed is used to send an accident notification, in the form of a specifical message. Experimental results are presented using nonholonomic mobiles robots with on-board real time cameras, to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.
Design and implementation of Arduino based robotic armIJECEIAES
This study presents the model, design, and construction of the Arduino based robotic arm, which functions across a distance as it is controlled through a mobile application. A six degree of freedom robotic arm has been designed and implemented for the purpose of this research. The design controlled by the Arduino platform receives orders from the user’s mobile application through wireless controlling signals, that is Bluetooth. The arm is made up of five rotary joints and an end effector, where rotary motion is provided by the servomotor. Each link has been first designed using solid works and then printed by 3D printer. The assembly of the parts of the robot and the motor’s mechanical shapes produce the final prototype of the arm. The Arduino has been programmed to provide rotation to each corresponding servo motor to the sliders in the designed mobile application for usage from distance.
A New Estimate Sliding Mode Fuzzy Controller for Robotic ManipulatorWaqas Tariq
One of the most active research areas in field of robotics is control of robot manipulator because this system has highly nonlinear dynamic parameters and most of dynamic parameters are unknown so design an acceptable controller is the main goal in this work. To solve this challenge position new estimation sliding mode fuzzy controller is introduced and applied to robot manipulator. This controller can solve to most important challenge in classical sliding mode controller in presence of highly uncertainty, namely; chattering phenomenon based on fuzzy estimator and online tuning and equivalent nonlinear dynamic based on estimation. Proposed method has acceptable performance in presence of uncertainty (e.g., overshoot=0%, rise time=0.8 s, steady state error = 1e-9 and RMS error=0.0001632).
An Improved Accurate Trajectory Control System for Industrial Hydraulic Robo...IJMER
A PC based control system was developed in this work to control a hydraulic pick and place robotic arm with a high tracking accuracy. The hydraulic arm was designed, constructed and controlled through an electronic driver circuit designed by the author. The tracking control system is driven by computer software, the commands of which are connected to the arm by means of a data acquisition card to read the rotational angles of its parts and to actuate the driver circuit of its hydraulic system. The present hydraulic robot arm is controlled to carry out desired pick and place tasks. A smart control software program was designed and constructed by the author using C# programming language. The present software program is designed as a Graphical User Interface application, GUI, and therefore it can be easily operated by non-expert users. Inverse kinematics formulas, derived by the author, are processed by the software to convert the coordinates of the initial and object tracking points from Cartesian to Polar systems as needed. Experimental runs were carried out to verify the effectiveness and the accuracy of the present tracking arm. Experiments showed that nine of ten trials were successful to attain a predesigned accurate pick and place task, which is a good percentage, confirmed the high accuracy of the present tracking system.

Courier management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
It is now-a-days very important for the people to send or receive articles like imported furniture, electronic items, gifts, business goods and the like. People depend vastly on different transport systems which mostly use the manual way of receiving and delivering the articles. There is no way to track the articles till they are received and there is no way to let the customer know what happened in transit, once he booked some articles. In such a situation, we need a system which completely computerizes the cargo activities including time to time tracking of the articles sent. This need is fulfilled by Courier Management System software which is online software for the cargo management people that enables them to receive the goods from a source and send them to a required destination and track their status from time to time.
CFD Simulation of By-pass Flow in a HRSG module by R&R Consult.pptxR&R Consult
CFD analysis is incredibly effective at solving mysteries and improving the performance of complex systems!
Here's a great example: At a large natural gas-fired power plant, where they use waste heat to generate steam and energy, they were puzzled that their boiler wasn't producing as much steam as expected.
R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.
It is always satisfying when we can help solve complex challenges like this. Do your systems also need a check-up or optimization? Give us a call!
