Size reduction is a process that reduces large solid masses into smaller particles or powders. It can be achieved through precipitation or mechanical processes. The objectives of size reduction are to improve appearance, increase surface area to facilitate absorption and bioavailability, improve stability, aid extraction and mixing, and allow for uses in aerosols, inhalations, suspensions, drying, and ophthalmic preparations by increasing viscosity.

INTRODUCTION:
 Size reduction is a process of reducing large solid unit masses into small unit
masses, coarse particles or fine particles.
 Size reduction process also termed as comminution or diminution or pulverisation.
 Size reduction may be achieved by TWO methods
 Precipitation process
 Mechanical process
