The Life Of A Normal Life
I was born in a normal world
A world without fantasy , magic or superpowers .
In that world I was born on a planet called Earth .
Live a normal life . Being born , grow up , go to school , work , marriage , and died peacefully .
That is what a normal people would expect . I m different from them . Five years ago , when I was ten

It didn t happen .When I start to sleep , I somehow awake .Not from my sleep but something else . I
was a baby . I had problems saying anything , cried a lot and couldn t do my business . It was strange .

The Importance Of Colors In The Chinese Culture
The author attempts to understand the connotations of colours in the Chinese culture and how it
shapes its day to day socio political and economic transactions. The author elucidates and develops the
theory of Keane about the transfer of messages in context to the established relationships among the
people belonging to specific cultures. The author employs ethnographic research tactics in order to
experience and understand the basic connections of the colours with that of the Chinese culture. The
main argument of the paper establishes that there could be more complex relationships between the
perceptions of colour among diverse cultures across the world. The study precisely focuses on the
meanings of the materials to convey the nature of the relationships.
Toulson attempts to explore the meanings of materials especially the colours that carry more than just
a message or compliment. It enables my own understanding regarding the functioning of meaning
making and its relevance to the basic cultural etiquettes of a culture. The author makes the study very
interesting by inferring the importance of red colour of envelopes (hóngbāo) that appear at
Singaporean Chinese funerals. It is very thought provoking because of the fact that colours do are
important to certain cultures. The paper attempts to draw a relationship between death and the colour
(red) that represents it. The red colour has an intimate relationship with the sociocultural notions of
China including the Christians

The Fifteenth And Sixteenth Centuries In Italy
There are many highly interesting periods of history to learn about, but one of the most interesting is
that which covers the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries in Italy. The Renaissance was a really crucial
turning point in Western thinking and cultural tradition. There was a astounding amount of artistic and
architectural production during this time. Moreover, this period in time was highly engaged. The
Renaissance produced an outstanding array of artists and painters, including the notable Leonardo da
Vinci, the Italian painter, journalist, and engineer. This time period was rightfully named the
Renaissance, meaning rebirth in Latin. It was named this because Italians and Europeans began to
once again advance culturally. The Renaissance

Hollow Men Critical Analysis
Eliot s Hollow Men: A Depiction of Human Weakness
Analysis of desperation and man s weakness projects throughout the poem The Hollow Men. As the
focus of the author, he succeeds in depicting and registering the mood of personal weakness. Through
reading the poem, there is an air of despair, weakness, and disappointment. It is imperative to
acknowledge that the poem presents an order of events that are effective towards the depiction of
human weakness. For example, weakness is shown when the men are trapped in the desert in a given
bank of a river that is daunting to cross. The odd troubles of their current predicament describe to
perpetuate human weakness. This paper will evaluate human weakness as propagated by the poem,
The Hollow Men.
Is it like this, in death s other kingdom, waking alone is an important quote that depicts human
weakness in the face of various fears (Bush 20). For example, weaknesses express itself through the
curiosity of the characters as to whether or not heaven is as bad as their current environment.
Specifically, the notion of loneliness is evident in the quote as an important aspect circumventing
human weakness. Isolation is one of the feelings that follow. As such Sangi, Soomro, and Gopang
emphasize that Elliot is successful in showing that human beings are devoid of the evident qualities of
strength, determination and moral strength (473). Accordingly, in line with the heading, people behave
like empty bodies that lack the positive virtues

As Defined By Merriam-Webster, Insanity Is “A Severely
As defined by Merriam Webster, insanity is a severely disordered state of the mind usually occurring
as a specific disorder . The stories A Tell Tale Heart by Edgar Allen Poe and A Long Day s Journey
Into Night by Eugene O Neill revolve around the development of their deeply flawed characters with
severe mental instabilities. The damage done to the characters around them is matched only by the
mental disturbance of each of the characters. The perversion of the character s minds is so severe, that
each has convinced themselves that throughout most of each story, their actions are not the root cause
of the turmoil around them. (ADD A BETTER TOPIC SENTENCE????) A Tell Tale Heart begins
with the exclamation from the narrator the disease ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He would become the victim of an irresistible impulse ... (Text 1). This corruption of the mind can
drive people to commit crimes as morally corrupt as murder without understanding how terrible their
actions are. To the narrator, to attack the blind eye that disturbs him so and murdering the old man are
two separate events. In A Long Day s Journey Into Night by contrast, the mother in the story, named
Mary, begins a normal woman concerned with the wellbeing of her son who was recently been
diagnosed with what was commonly called consumption, but is now referred to as tuberculosis.
Because she is so anxious about her son s worsening health, Mary withdraws, via morphine, into a
happier past (Text 2). As the play progresses, Mary s worsening mental state is reflected by her
worsening appearance, climaxing near the end of the work, when she ends the night, eyes glassy,
wedding gown half worn, high on morphine regressing back to her happiest day, her wedding day. In
her state she has completely disassociated herself from her surroundings, so much so that she forgets
to ask her son, returning from the doctor what the diagnosis was. Her addiction causes her state to
worsen throughout the play, damaging the relationships of those around her, culminating in a complete
disconnection from reality. Each of these characters suffer from mental instabilities resulting in
damage to the people

Catcher In The Rye Ego Essay
In the book, The Catcher in the Rye, is is clearly shown that certain tragic events can affects the
growth of one s maturity. Essentially leading to mental breakdowns and in holden s case, put him in a
mental intuition. Holden s younger brothers premature passing inflicts a cynical view on the world
around him and shows that he is terrified about growing up. He becomes disappointed with the
interactions that he has with other people and his lack of social interest shows he does not know how
to empathize with for others. His cynical views make him inferior even though he wants to be
superior. This would essentially be summed up into what is known as an existential crisis. Holden
questions his point of living which leaves him lost in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At a bar, Holden finds these women, describing them and typical phonies. He ends up dancing with
the blonde one and teases her, telling her that a movie star was in the room they were. All of a sudden
[he] was sorry as hell [he d] kidded her. Some people you shouldn t kid, even if they deserve it
(Salinger 78). Holden is well aware that he has hurt her. He also not admittingly makes a mental not
that you cannot do as you please in this world. In a conversation between Holden and Spencer, Holden
is lectured about the importance of playing by the rules. Spencer, his former history teacher at Pencey,
explains that life should be played by the rules. and calls life a game. To himself, Holden goes on to
say, Game, my ass. Some game. If you get on the side where all the hot shots are, then it s a game, all
right I ll admit that. But if you get on the other side, where there aren t any hot shots, then what s a
game about it? Nothing. No game (Salinger 8). Clearly, Holden identifies himself with the people on
the other side. He shows that he is sort of isolated from the rest of the world and created this cynical
view of everyone and everything. He shows that he has no hope in becoming on of the hot shots and
already expresses that he is a lost cause and does not know what to do with his life. It seems as though
Holden s oversized inferiority feelings are in contrast to his ex
tremely high goals of superiority. Thus
he is sure to feel small and inferior

In this term paper we know this study is an important topic, as it remains a great controversy to the
world for many thousands of years is the bible reliable, more importantly, is the spiritual author of the
bible reliable to the world? We will convince them that indeed the Bible is reliable. This paper plays
an important role in convincing many people, including the researchers themselves to the truth.
We will show you why the Bible is still reliable and relevant up to this day, but why is it important to
discuss about this topic? It is important because with this topic, we will be able to reach out to people
who don t believe and are in doubt on the reliability of the bible. We will also be able to prove to the
multitude that the Bible isn t just reliable, but it is also the truth.

thousands of years old, it is still consistent and very up to date.
The Bible, according to some scholars was written over a span of 1,500 years. It was written by
prophets, kings and apostles that were used by God to put His words into writing. Although the Bible
was first written in the Greek language, it has been translated to almost all languages present today

Mongols Religious Ceremony
We hardly knew what to make of all this. Our Mongols explained that tomorrow night there will be a
religious ceremony of great importance which will be very worthwhile to see. In the mean time we
visited a small temple and made acquaintance of several Lamas. One of them was a great doctor Lama
who had a large number of sick people waiting to be cured. As we walked in the Lama was attending a
lady patient who had a large tubercular absess on her neck. With a few strokes of his hand the Lama
removed the absess from the woman s neck to her finger and cutting it opened with a huge knife he
dressed the wound. We realized one more that we were being hypnotized by clever Lamas, and

The Decisions Behind My Career as an Advertising Manager...
Advertising Manager Trying to get the attention of a single person is difficult, but thinking of a way to
do it is far more challenging. The people that have mastered this art are considered as advertisers or
graphic designers but the one that really helps bring this all together is the advertising manager. As an
advertising manager their job is to catch the interest... of potential buyers. by helping create
advertising campaigns. So why did I choose this career? I chose it because of several reasons. First
off, I ve always like the idea with being involved with advertising, but I wanted to be more that just
the one to create the graphic designs. I wanted to do something bigger and then these tests came in and

Now I can t actually say which schools actually are best for these degrees but there are quite a bit of
schools that offer certain them. The one degree that comes up is Business Administration with a
concentration in marketing. On many websites this is the one that pops up the most so I will be
concentrating this paper mostly on this degree. There is actually either a bachelor s degree or
Bachelors of Science. In this case a bachelor degree seems to be best for the field that I have chosen.
This lowers the amount of schools that actually offer a bachelors degree in business administration
with a concentration of marketing. The schools that I found that offer this are California State
University(CSU) Fullerton, CSU San Bernardino and CSU Northridge. All these schools offer a
degree in marketing, which is one of main degrees that this field is looking for. An advertising
manager works with others to come up with advertising idea, that can attract the attention of potential
buyers. Advertising managers could be achieved by a degree in marketing, journalism or advertising.
The list of schools that are listed in the beginning offer bachelor degrees in business administration
with a concentration in marketing. This degree also opens doors to many other jobs as well. An
advertising manager helps bring the ideas together and get the advertisement out into the world. The
outlook of this job is not so bright, but there

Beatty Samuelson Essay
7. Bluffing can be ethical, depending on the circumstances and how it is employed. In fact, Beatty
Samuelson, in Essentials of Business Law, points out the Kantian evasion or plater , which serves as
the basis for deceiving someone in an ethical way. She describes it as a truthful statement that is
nonetheless misleading (36). For instance, Kant s example of a murderer coming to our door asking
for someone who is in our own home and who he wants to kill illustrates an instance when answering
questions fully could lead to terrible consequences (36). In that case, Samuelson argues, telling the
truth and pointing the killer to the victim would be very costly, so it is better to employ Kant s evasion
principle and reply with a truthful, but misleading statement. Immanuel Kant, according to Samuelson,

Although gender discrimination currently receives intermediate Fourteenth Amendment Scrutiny, they
should receive strict scrutiny. As Samuelson points out, like in the case of race, A government action
interfering with a fundamental right receives strict scrutiny and will likely be declared void (127).
Gender discrimination, just like race discrimination, should also be considered an interference with a
fundamental right and, therefore, receive strict scrutiny. The repercussions of the severe problem of
gender discrimination in American society can be seen in the gender pay gap in our country. In fact,
according to the Institute for Women s Policy Research, In 2014, female full time workers made only
79 cents for every dollar earned by men, a gender wage gap of 21 percent. Women, on average, earn
less than men in virtually every single occupation for which there is sufficient earnings data for both
men and women to calculate an earnings ratio. The fact that women are discriminated on the basis of
gender in the workplace and paid less than men is sufficient to argue that gender discrimination should
be treated with the same scrutiny as race

The Populism Movement
The election of 1892, the year former President Grover Cleveland was reelected after defeating
President Benjamin Harrison. President Grover Cleveland lost the electoral vote in 1888 against
Harrison, but in 1892 Cleveland made a comeback. Even though President Cleveland and President
Harrison represented the two main parties, a third party had risen in popularity during this time. The
People Party received popularity in this election, making them the first third party to receive electoral
votes since the 1860 Presidential Race. The populism movement started as way for farmers to fight
back against dropping crop prices, forced debt, and economic abuse received by capitalistic
corporations. Populism in other words is the movement made by farmer in order to receive economic,
political, and social equality in the reconstructing country. Farmers during this time were in debt due
to the investments on machinery but did not produce enough wealth. Surely farmers had huge field but
due to inflation of crop prices, farmers were not treated in the same economic or social class as those
in corporations. In the election in 1892 the Peoples Party presidential candidate was James Weaver

Social Class Vs. Upper Class
Based on which social class an individual falls into, the parenting style that they display or experience
may vary. Are these differences in social classes affecting the way children in these households are
brought up? If so, are these parenting styles reinforcing social class division? It is inevitable that the
occupation, education, and income or wealth that an individual possesses will define their social class.

processes due to varying parenting styles that emerge in these distinct social classes. The parental

Due to the values that these parents live their lives by the same values are the ones they are passing on
to their children. When these children grow up they are likely to be expected to work in places much
like the ones their parents are working in and hopefully with the values instilled in them they will be
able to hold onto their jobs.
Parents in the lower and working social class tend to believe that they can never be too involved in
their children s education. (Pew) This provides an interesting contrast because based off of another
survey parents in this class are the least likely to read out loud to their children. This is likely a matter
of time management. Parents in this class are often working 2 or 3 jobs to make ends meet. These
children spend a majority of their childhood in the care of extended family, seeing as most of these
families live in poor neighborhoods and childcare is not readily available or affordable. But these
parents still feel that their kids should be doing well in school, education is an important part of being
able to get better jobs, and if the parents want their children to be able to socially move up in the
society than they will be more likely to want to be involved in their children s education. Based on a
survey conducted it was also found that parents of this social class

Denmark Vesey
Denmark Vesey was an African American leader of an attempted slave insurrection in 1822. After
many years as a slave, he won $1,500 in a lottery. Vesey used this money to purchase his freedom. He
used his intelligence, energy, and luck to acquire considerable wealth and influence in South Carolina.
All of these factors helped lead to the largest attempted slave revolt in American history. David
Robertson s book Denmark Vesey outlines his life as a slave, to his freedom, to his execution, and the
consequences of the aftermath. South Carolina was one of the only states in which the black slaves
and abolitionists outnumbered their oppressors. Denmark Vesey s slave revolt consisted of over nine
thousand armed slaves, free blacks, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In their church meetings, they planned to assassinate the governor and other highly elected state
officials. They also intended to set the city on fire, and then murder the entire white population of the
city, including women and children. Only the lives of those who were captains of the ships that would
help the rebels escape to either Haiti or Africa, would be spared. The plot of the revolt is a significant
incident in American history, with just the thought of it actually occurring enough to terrify citizens of
South Carolina. The Denmark Vesey rebellion is most remembered because of its closeness to success.
The plot internally fell through when informers betrayed him, and confessed to their masters the plans
that had been made. By the end of the summer of 1822, Vesey, along with 34 other leaders, were
arrested and tried. They were then convicted and executed in a place that is still unknown to us.
Although the revolt never took place, the slaves and abolitionists definitely had the resources and
ability to do it. David Robertson obviously thoroughly researched the topic, with 40 pages of notes,
and pictures at the end of the book. He took a very limited source of information, and turned it into a
historical detective novel. That in itself is credible, even though the book is relatively short. Denmark
Vesey gives a good foundation of information on the subject, but is lacking in certain areas.

Boeing History
William Boeing bought his first plane and taught himself how to fly in the early 1900 s and as soon as
he left the ground crashed his seaplane and nearly destroyed it. Once he destroyed the plane he started
to realize that because it would take so long for him to get the necessary parts to make his plane
airworthy again he could build his own custom plane in a shorter amount of time. The fascination with
seaplanes directed him toward building his own seaplane with his friend G.C. Westervelt in their

because once the U.S. Navy received word of the B W Seaplane they ordered 50 of them and Boeing

Analysis Of The Book Outremer By Nabil Saleh
The thirteenth century showed a lot of tension between religious and political groups and leaders. The
church in those days had more power and control over the state. One religious tension in particular
was the hatred between Cathars and Catholics. While they both came from the Christian religion, the
Cathars had different beliefs and a different leading system than the Catholics, and the Catholics saw
the Cathars as heretics. The Cathars were overrunning the French land of Languedoc, and so a series
of wars started between the French Catholics and the Languedoc Cathars. In the book, Outremer, by
Nabil Saleh, we are introduced to many characters, religions, and relationships. It gives us a look at
how the different religions, political leaders, and families connected with or lived beside one another.
In my opinion, Outremer shows more religious tension than political tension during the thirteenth
century, but still it does not show the reality and full effect of the tension. From the beginning of the
book, we are shown the tension between Christians and Cathars when Aimeric s father sends him on a
mission to travel to Tyre and kill King Philip of Montfort. There is hatred between the two religions
from events that happened years ago, and the Cathars still want revenge on the Christians. Although
the main character, Aimeric, accepts his father s mission, he ends up meeting people from different
religions and getting along with them as if they were of his own family.

Essay On Zara
Zara | Background information
Zara is one of the largest international fashion companies and has over 2000 stores located across 88
countries. It is part of the large distribution group Inditex, which also owns brands such as Pull Bear,
Stradivarius and Bershka.
Zara s first store was opened in 1975 by Amancio Ortega in Spain. It featured low priced fashion items
that looked similar to the products of the more popular brands. As the store proved to be a success,
Ortega opened more Zara stores within Spain.
During the 1980 s, Zara started its international expansion as a result of a change in its production of

Zara is unique in its marketing model as Zara has a policy of zero advertisement. Plus, its concept of

How Did The Printing Press Lead To The Rise Of The...
One of the main factors that led to the spread of the renaissance was the formation of the printing
press. If the printing press was never invented, imagine how life would be. We would not have things
like books or newspapers, and we wouldn t be able to share information quickly. To understand the
printing press it is useful to know how it works, and to understand the significance.
In 1436 Johannes Gutenberg invented the printing press. It caused rapid growth in the production of
books and caused changes in European civilization. The original printing press used a set group of
type blocks together that made words and sentences. It was in Production around 1450 ( Bellis ).
Gutenberg also printed the world s first book, the Gutenberg Bible in 1455 (Peterson). ... Show more

Each word, phrase, and picture were on a separate block, making it expensive and time consuming
(Kreis). Even though block books were a huge step in transforming the printing of books, the
woodcuts would tend to split after a lot of usage so they were not really useful. In 868 CE, China
created the first printed book called the Diamond Sutra . However, there is a chance there may have
been book printing occurring long before this date (Bellis). Before the printing press, the only books
that were made were highly valuable objects that only belonged to the church.
In Europe, most books were still being made by hand. Writing books by hand was a long process and
took years to complete. The invention made it more efficient to produce books and they were cheaper.
They could also print in color now. It led to a huge social and cultural revolution

The Crowd A Study Of The Popular Mind Summary
Gustav Le Bon Charles Marie Gustav Le Bon was a sociologist, psychologist, and physicist who is
well known for his writing in each of these fields. Le Bon was a witness to the actions of the French
Commune, in the spring of 1871, what he refers to as the French Convention in his essay The Crowd:
A Study of the Popular Mind. He was greatly influenced in what he saw during this revolutionary
uprising and analyzed the actions of crowds and the way they acted differently than the individuals
within them would (Wikipedia, n.d.). The individuals in the crowd lose their conscience personality
and adopt the thoughts and actions of the psychological crowd. Le Bon points out that the size of a
psychological crowd could be as small as a half a dozen and as large as a nation, and the combined
influence driving them to act does not have to be negative, but could easily have a positive vibe (Le
Bon, 1926). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I am reminded of the Vancouver, (Canada), riots of June 15, 2011, when the local hockey team lost the
final game of the championship. Shops were looted, windows were broken, and police cars were set
on fire all of this was done because of a lost sports game. Fans devastated by their favorite team s loss
collectively began taking their frustrations out on the environment around them. In this case, the
crowd did not resort to violence towards each other but attacked the buildings and symbols of
authority in the downtown core. The members of this crowd were doing things and behaved in ways
that they would not have as individuals. Years later when the police had compiled extensive video
footage they were able to press charges against some of the worst perpetrators in the riot, and some of
them turned out to be honor students and office workers, not your typical thugs (Canadian

The yield expected from successful human resource management (HRM) or development (HRD)

This badge of honour was displayed in the 2004 Toyota Corporate Social Responsibility Report.
Toyota is a large multinational organisation with an established reputation for providing good quality
products by using lean production, highly automated and Tayloristic methods of manufacturing. Its
relatively flat structure, efficient processes and seemingly endless resource enables this principal to be
trusted by its employees and wider public. In 2004 the Japanese economy was emergent, though the
automotive industry had began to plateau. The Toyota employee was and is, in general, semi skilled
and reasonably paid. The idea of a job for life is still viable in Japan today. Though this sentiment is
commendable, this may not work for all. The same type of statement could not be trusted within many
similar automotive companies based in the United Kingdom today. Public redundancies at Jaguar,
Ford and Vauxhall and the downturn within the economy over the last seven years has seen job for life
ideology diluted. Greater emphasis is placed on flexibility, particularly when all companies strive to
achieve higher performance with less people capability. This is representative of how principals for
the best practise models can work in one context, but fail in another. Incidentally, job

Analysis Of The Love Song Of J. Alfred Prufrock
The Love Song of T.S Eliot
In The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock the reader can clearly understand that T.S Eliot is
straightforward as one can get within a poem. In the beginning of the poem, one can infer that
Prufrock is being used as a facade to convey Eliot s inner self who is an introvert that doesn t quite fit
in with the modern day society. Prufrock sees his personal life as a burden that he cannot mend while
he tries to conform into the middle class society that everyone views as pristine. Meanwhile, being
scrutinized by others he has also deemed himself as weak and unworthy of life. We are choosing to
shed light on Eliot s inadequate personal life and on how others perceive him as well as how he
perceives himself, within ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In college Eliot met the love of his life and he soon married Vivien Haigh Wood. This would make
Eliot a new person in the way he would write and view the world. He self trained himself to make his
writing more modern in efforts to reach a bigger crowd (Bush). These efforts would eventually pay off
with writings like Ulysses, The Wasteland, and The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock. These writings
would give T.S Eliot the strength to quit his job in a local bank and live off the success of his writings.
Eliot used his life struggles as his inspiration to create his successful writings just like how he used it
to create Prufrock in The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock . T.S Eliot uses his poem as an outlet to
express what he has experienced throughout his personal life through Prufrock. In his poem, he makes
the character, Prufrock, becomes very judgmental on himself since Eliot has encountered many self
degrading life lessons. Prufrock believes that his worthlessness terminates his chances of any woman
falling in love him and which is the cause of his hesitance to approach women. Eliot is the same way
since he got his heartbroken by his first wife, Vivienne Haigh wood Eliot. Eliot s habitable
tentativeness has always restrained him from being with a woman and what Vivienne does to him
proves why he was and now always will be skeptical to be with a woman. A man by the name of

Musing New Hoods, Making New Identity
The Article, Musing New Hoods, Making New identities: Film, Hip hop Culture, and Jazz Music by
Guthrie P. Ramsey, Jr. addressed an important and conflicting aspect about the opportunities that
African Americans feel they have in modern society. He continues to address the idea of
guiltsploitation feeling guilt for going against one s culture to move up in social class, an idea
introduced by Henry Louis Gates and the different message that is received by society from the
underlying message surrounding African American films (Ramsey, 311). Stereotypes conceived
through movies and hip hop music create the identity and character through an authentic
representation that is expected of African Americans in modern culture. Although African American
films and the hip hop music industry have worked to build and identify a culture through the art form,
they have instead created a stereotypical image a different inner struggle has resulted that remains in
society today. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The films represent the community and sometimes can alter how society think they should feel.
Ramsey discusses guiltsploitation , which addresses the guilt associated with not following a certain
cultural norm (Ramsey,311). The message of many films suggests that to prove that one is proud of
their Black heritage they must live in ghettos, do crack and rap (Ramsey, 311). This representation
creates a different message to the past and present youth can I climb the corporate ladder and still be
loyal to my race (Ramsey, 311)? Films have the power to create an image in society that makes it
difficult for the African American culture to feel comfortable going against this social norm. This

Compare And Contrast Gatsby And Death Of A Salesman
A man cannot become a hero until he can see the root of his own downfall (Aristotle). This quotation
accurately describes a tragic hero, which is a character with an imperfection, or tragic flaw, that
eventually leads to their downfall. In The Great Gatsby and Death of a Salesman, both authors
criticize the unattainability of the American Dream as both characters Gatsby and Willy chase after
their dreams. During the 1920 s, the American Dream is centered around obtaining wealth any way
possible. During the 1950 s, the American Dream focused on success through a dignifying job. These
decades both involve dreams of economic prosperity that becomes these protagonists tragic flaws.
Seeking to relive the past, Gatsby and Willy strive for wealth until they similarly reach their deaths
trying to achieve their dreams. However, these two tragic heroes come from diverse backgrounds and
surroundings that greatly influence their view of success.
While Jay Gatsby and Willy Loman are both tragic heroes, the impact of their environment and people
in their lives are very different. For Gatsby, success comes with the image of Daisy. Gatsby is attracted
to her voice that is full of money and draws him into this tragic illusion of love that he continues
following his entire life (Fitzgerald). In order to achieve this dream of the past, Gatsby becomes a
bootlegger and gets rich quick so that he can impress Daisy and win her over again. This becomes his
tragic flaw as he gets wrapped up in

Alienation And What Effect It Has On Contemporary Society...
Introduction It has been argued that Karl Marx theory of alienation has lost relevance in contemporary
society when understanding the relationship of the individual worker in a capitalist society. It is this
statement being proposed by several sociologists who believe alienation being an empty statement in
relation to contemporary society. However like many other sociological concepts this one is still
contested which is why I will explore the theory of alienation and what effect it has on contemporary
society, and argue that Marx s theory of alienation still applies to the process of the owners of
production exploiting the working classes. I will start by looking into the four different dimensions of
alienation and how these relate to Marx s critique of capitalist society, then relating this concept to
modern society. the four dimensions of alienation Alienation as a definition was initially conflicted as
it has very different meanings such as the English definition defines alienation as to turn away the
feelings of someone or to transfer an individual s property Affine, Y. H. (1997). Alienation has been
described as a lack of self actualisation (ester, 1985, p. 77) which results in a non satisfaction of needs
in an individual however this is vague because there are a variety of basic human needs that need to be
satisfied. While others went further to say that alienation is when an individuals is lacking in self
worth which leads

During the first century A.D. the Pharisees, Sadducees, Essenes, and the Nationalist all lived in

most did not identify themselves with any of these groups. Even though all these groups were jewish,
their definition and perception of the messiah were all different. Each group also dealt with Roman

There was conflict with the Pharisees because the Sadducees felt that their official roles in the Temple
gave them the power to make official interpretations of the Law as opposed to the Pharisees lay

the Essenes. Within the Essenes, there were different divisions. The Qumran Essenes are best known
from the Dead Sea Scrolls, which were discovered in 1947. Since the Essenes tended to be more strict

Essenes did not believe that the priesthood of the Sadducees was for real. Likewise, the Essenes
believed that the time of the messiah was near and that after the messiah had established the new
kingdom, they would be restored as legitimate priests (Robinson, 1986). The final group of people,
were the Nationalist. The Nationalists tended to be very patriotic and devoted themselves to national
liberty for the Jewish people. After the revolt, the were later called Zealots. The Zealot beliefs mostly

The Crisis Of The Foreclosure Crisis
Shit happens is probably what most of these foreclosed homeowners hear after they were forced to
leave their comfy home. Even though the economy is unpredictable, not a lot of the victims are
satiable by such a vague expression that has caused them to lose their property. It s a harsh comment,
but the economy has turned into something that we have little influence over. One of the worst
feelings is having minimal control over the consequences and outcome. Some people are afraid to
make the same home buying decision again as a result, because what s stopping the economy from
taking another shit on them again? The answer is probably nothing, but what are some actions these
homeowners can take to ease into settling down in a home again? Foreclosure victims can try to
improve their credit score and it could get them that approved private loan in return if needed. Saving
money is also a general option for those that tend to spend a lot on luxury retail goods. Another option
can be utilizing the rent to own option to have that homey feeling as soon as possible. Some people
can also test their patience and attempt to wait it out until the economy exits the lavatory. Each

The Life And Work Of Roger Corman
How I Made A Hundred Movies in Hollywood and Never Lost a Dime completely changes how
people view the industry of filmmaking, by providing the story of one man who battled against the
odds and inspired generations to come. The novel chronicles the life and work of Roger Corman, a
pioneer in the filmmaking industry. Filmmaking is a visual literature; just like how novels can change
a person s beliefs or perspectives, film can have a long lasting effect on the audience it touches.
Similarly, this is what Roger Corman accomplished with his movies. Although he initially had a little
money, experience, and support, Roger Corman s life has inspired and challenged generations of
people. Furthermore, this book proves Gregory Currie s belief that Great Literature Makes Us Better

directly supported by the lessons and values rewards imparted on the audience through the description
of Roger Corman s life. Although Corman had little to no money, he continued to pursue his dream of

Offensive Speech
The Federal Bureau of Investigation has a priority to protect all American citizens from offensive

Essay The General Prologue
The General Prologue The Canterbury Tales The General Prologue The most popular part of the
Canterbury Tales is the General Prologue, which has long been admired for the lively, individualized
portraits it offers. More recent criticism has reacted against this approach, claiming that the portraits
are indicative of social types, part of a tradition of social satire, estates satire , and insisting that they
should not be read as individualized character portraits like those in a novel. Yet it is sure that Chaucer
s capacity of human sympathy, like Shakespeare s, enabled him to go beyond the conventions of his

The portraits do not follow any particular order after the first few pilgrims have been introduced; the
Knight who comes first is socially the highest person present (the Host calls him my mayster and my
lord in line 837). The Knight is the picture of a professional soldier, come straight from foreign wars
with clothes all stained from his armour. His travels are remarkably vast; he has fought in Prussia,
Lithuania, Russia, Spain, North Africa, and Turkey against pagans, Moors, and Saracens, killing many.
The variety of lords for whom he has fought suggests that he is some kind of mercenary, but it seems
that Chaucer may have known people at the English court with similar records. The narrator insists:
He was a verray, parfit, gentil knight, but some modern readers, ill at ease with idealized warriors, and
doubtful about the value of the narrator s enthusiasms, have questioned this evaluation. His son, the
Squire, is by contrast an elegant young man about court, with fashionable clothes and romantic skills
of singing and dancing. Their Yeoman is a skilled servant in charge of the knight s land, his dress is
described in detail, but not his character. The Prioress is one of the most fully described pilgrims, and
it is with her that we first notice the narrator s refusal to judge the value of what he sees. Her portrait is
more concerned with how she eats than how she prays. She is rather too kind

Current Trends On The Construction Industry
Current Trends in the Construction Industry
Beginning a new year of the construction industry with a report of 6% growth (achieved
approximately $712 billion) in the financial profit of construction from Dodge Data Analytics 2016
Construction Outlook, many analysts and experts predict that potential values for the construction
business will be progressively increased with extensions of modern technologies and state of the art
concepts for improving construction performance, especially in project cost and schedule
achievements (Peiffer, 2016). Although it is noticeable that diverse tendencies, including
prefabrication or offsite constructions, green buildings, remodeling, etc., are taking higher place in the
next decades, true collaborations, sophisticated building modeling tools, and practical value boosted
procedures are always bottom lines for a blossoming construction project. It is unquestionable that
construction project costs and schedule are spectacularly difficult to predict by reason of complexity
of building procedures and presence of thousands of dependent variables throughout a project. As a

Screwtape Letters Themes
The Screwtape Letters is a novel that s written in an epistolary and satirical style. The novel is
comprised of letters that s written from the perspective of a senior demon named Screwtape to his
nephew, Wormwood, who is a less experienced demon. Screwtape is trying to mentor him through a
series of letters since Wormwood is trying to guide a human toward Our Father Below from the
Enemy . According to The New Yorker, For believers, the letters are theology in reverse, teaching the
love of God through the wiles of the Devil, but for all readers, regardless of belief, the letters frame
human experience as a familiar sequence of trials..... Justice Scalia, , also said that s a great book. It
really is, just as a study of human nature . Love is an important theme in The Screwtape Letters .
Screwtape fails to fully comprehend God s love for man, which he understands as real but irrational.
C.S. Lewis mentions that love is vital for human civilization but that we can t let love replace other
human qualities. In the story, Lewis put forth the idea through the protagonist in the story, Screwtape,
that human love is selfish and that divine love is faithful. Lewis implies that we shouldn t fully rely on
as well as love imperfect things. He says that he wants people to lessen their love with other emotions
and ethics such as respect and loyalty. He ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
. . Screwtape tells his nephew Wormwood how God ...wants to kill their animal self love as soon as
possible; but it is His longterm policy, I fear, to restore them a new kind of self love a charity and
gratitude for all selves, including their own... Lewis also says that the only time someone s love should
be extreme and excessive is when someone loves God. According to Psychology Today, Loving too
much can be problematic..... The only time someone s love should be extreme and excessive is when

Teenage Struggle
Chapter 1 Problem and its Setting The emergence of new technologies and the fast paced
technological advancements marked the beginning of the 21st century. Different gadgets and tools to
suffice the wants and to help ease the difficulties encountered by man in his daily existence have been
invented and are constantly developed. Unlike in the past, these changes are not confined to a certain
nation or country only, but rather, to the whole human population. Effects of these technologies in the
fields of medicine, education, transportation, communication, economics, and warfare, to name a few,
are globally observable. Information superhighway is undoubtedly one of the most developed fields.

That means a reduced focus on learning and retaining information such as the features of the web
wherein sites can be bookmarked or downloaded, thus, making it available for students anytime. B.

for students. They are able to communicate meeting times or share information quickly, which can
increase productivity and help them learn how to work well in groups. Social networking sites teach
students skills that they will need to survive in the business world. Being able to create and maintain
connections to many industries is an integral part of developing a career or building a business.

Textual Analysis Weekend
From the beginning to the end of the music video Hmm for the Weekend by Coldplay featuring
Beyoncé (2015), the audience is shown a multiple array of colours and authentic sounds, from
traditional bells, to Chris Martin s angelic voice. However, the video also portrays prolific visuals of
the Indian culture. On one hand, viewers suggest it over generalizes the representation of an Indian
culture as it screens the false realties of race and ethics. On the other hand, there are those who suggest
it shows the appreciation of the culture. Through Jason Rodriquez s article Color Blind Ideology
Culture Appropriation of Hip Hop (2006), this paper will explain how the music video Hmm for the
Weekend by Coldplay featuring Beyoncé uses culture ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Rodriquez, color blind ideology is what leads to the assertion of essential sameness
between racial and ethnic groups despite unequal social locations and distinctive histories (165). In
this case, the targeted group is Coldplay since they are blinded by their political and social statuses as
artists while they use Indian culture to their advantage to maintain popularity in the music industry.
Rodriquez suggests that color blind ideology is noticed when the dominant group is aware of the
social, political, and economic status of both groups and uses the attributes from the minority group to
an extensive level (657). The political and artistic goal of the video frames the use of the Indian
festival Holi. In addition, it captures the religious tradition and uses it as a prop. The video essentially
plays off a false ideology towards the ethnic view of India as it inoculates the dominant picture of a
real Indian culture. The idea of sameness creates the illusion of how one can act and look as a real
Indian if dressed in a certain way, or if one celebrates the same tradition. Analysing the context of the
video through color blind ideology, it is important to view the social, economic and political status
between two different groups in order to realize how one group uses the other. The myth of sameness
is effective since it perpetuates the inequalities when one compares the difference between two
groups. Color blind ideology is a form of racism since it creates a dominant culture to admit to taking
familiarities from another culture without the dominant culture truly realizing the effect. For instance,
Coldplay uses their advantage as a popular culture music group to represent a variety of themes to
their fans and supporters; however, the group fails to realize their racial privilege and social status in

Thucydides And The Peloponnesian War
Thucydides was born in 460 B.C.E in a noble family, which was linked to Athens and its leaders. He
was one of the greatest ancient Greek historians and author of the History of the Peloponnesian War,
in which he describes the struggle between Athens and Sparta. Thucydides was also interested in the
technical part of the war. He focused on the difficulties and possibilities in a war between the powerful
land force of Sparta along its allies and the powerful naval force of Athens. He observed that the
strategic interaction of states followed a visible and repeated pattern.
According to him the relationship of states in a system is dependent on the hierarchal system they
have. Therefore he concluded that any alteration in the hierarchy of the powerful states would
extremely shake the structure of their system while any alteration in the status of the weak states
would make no difference to the system. Thucydides relates this conclusion to the Peloponnesian War
because he believed that the outbreak of war was a result of the change in their system as the power of
the Athenian state was growing and attempting to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For him international relation is simply a tool used to allow the powerful states to exploit their power
while the weak states suffer.
In my opinion this image of international relations Thucydides draws seems a bit two faced since it is
the lack of international relations that leads to a lack of central government, which then creates an
anarchic world. Thucydides focuses way too much on competitiveness over power and strength and
how it can cause conflict and war between to parties. He ignores the possibility that opposing party s
can learn to coexist by creating relations with each in order to gain interest from one another which
would also create interdependence leaving less room for

The Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, South Carolina
In 1997 I was a Marine Aircraft Firefighter stationed at the Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, South
Carolina. One of the tasks we performed was performing static displays for groups touring the base.
Two places every tour group would visit was the military police and the fire station; we were the fire
station. Staff Sergeant Draughn and I (we were both supervisors) stood in front of these children while
our Marines performed a drill where an alarm would sound; they would come down the slide from
upstairs, get dressed roll about 30 yards, pull out the hoses and put out either the simulated fire or a
small controlled fire. On this particular occasion it was a group elementary school kids from the local
school district. Draughn looked at me and said. Look at these kids, just think, as innocent as they look
now, in about 10 to 15 years some will be murders, and criminals. I laughed and agreed; realizing that
criminals come from everyday walks of life; as I reflect that was the first time I can truly pinpoint the
first time I had a biased perspective on the younger generation. I was 29 years old at the time and
looked like I was 20. I was before I was shot so I weighed at the most 160 lbs., and it s hard to say I
that heavy at the time. Throughout my life I have always been in service and I thought I was very
liberal minded; I ve always loved being nice to people and helping people and so I thought my
altruistic personality was perfect for social work. This program

Life Has Learned In My Life
At the age of six I had not given much thought about life and death, but this day changed that. As a
baby, I cannot imagine all the things I did that put myself in danger. I was completely unaware of the
consequences of my actions. As a child, I was playful, innocent, and cheerful. Throughout my years of
growing up I have learned many lessons through life. Only a few events happened before this one that
I can remember. On my 6th birthday, life could have been lost, and from that I learned to always be
careful and that life can change in an instant. First, I woke up Saturday afternoon. Since it was
Saturday, I slept longer than usual. Today was the day chosen to celebrate my birthday, which was
actually a few days before. It was my 6th birthday party. My parents and I decided that the party
would take place at our home. We invited all our neighbors and friends. I was young, energetic, and
ready to enjoy life. Next, I got out of my Rugrats sheet covered bed. I headed down the narrow and
white hallway to the living room. I greeted my parents and had a small breakfast. I ate scrambled eggs
and toast for breakfast. After eating I asked my parents if I could ride my bike with friends before
coming back home. My parents agreed that was ok. I went into the garage to get my blue, new,
Mongoose bicycle. My bicycle was a gift from my parents, which I received on my birthday. After
returning home from bike riding, I got an hour of rest before the party was ready to begin. I exited

Britain s Role In The Battle Of The Somme
The Battle of the Somme occurred during July 1 to November 18, 1916. The British and their allies,
the French, wanted to claim the Germans territory on the Western Front. Before, this war transpired in
December of 1915 the British had their allied commanders to plan and analyze how they were going
to achieve the idea of bombarding the Germans province, which, was the River Somme. Then, the
British and French came up with their conclusion on how to attack this region later that year in 1916.
The German military intimated the French at Verdun which lead to the British obtaining the major role
in the offensive. Furthermore, the Germans were aware that the British and the Germans we re gonna

The Battle of Verdun began when the Germans fought on the British s French town of Verdun, this
caused war to continue throughout the year. The war started out with a ten hour attack that most of the
fighting power were pulled together to make it stronger. Although, the French were retreated by the
Germans they did not give up. Through the summer, the Germans were required to decrease their
power at Verdun subsequently when the British and Russians introduced their own assault. Once
summer passed in the Fall, the French obtained lost ground and cautiously organized their army.
Therefore, once the French got their army where it needed to be they fixed a strong protective victory

but, unfortunately the German offensive at the Verdun drastically decreased the French army. The
British got to guide the big push on the Western Front. After, a whole year there was still no clear

  • 3. The Importance Of Colors In The Chinese Culture The author attempts to understand the connotations of colours in the Chinese culture and how it shapes its day to day socio political and economic transactions. The author elucidates and develops the theory of Keane about the transfer of messages in context to the established relationships among the people belonging to specific cultures. The author employs ethnographic research tactics in order to experience and understand the basic connections of the colours with that of the Chinese culture. The main argument of the paper establishes that there could be more complex relationships between the perceptions of colour among diverse cultures across the world. The study precisely focuses on the meanings of the materials to convey the nature of the relationships. Toulson attempts to explore the meanings of materials especially the colours that carry more than just a message or compliment. It enables my own understanding regarding the functioning of meaning making and its relevance to the basic cultural etiquettes of a culture. The author makes the study very interesting by inferring the importance of red colour of envelopes (hóngbāo) that appear at Singaporean Chinese funerals. It is very thought provoking because of the fact that colours do are important to certain cultures. The paper attempts to draw a relationship between death and the colour (red) that represents it. The red colour has an intimate relationship with the sociocultural notions of China including the Christians ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Hollow Men Critical Analysis Eliot s Hollow Men: A Depiction of Human Weakness Analysis of desperation and man s weakness projects throughout the poem The Hollow Men. As the focus of the author, he succeeds in depicting and registering the mood of personal weakness. Through reading the poem, there is an air of despair, weakness, and disappointment. It is imperative to acknowledge that the poem presents an order of events that are effective towards the depiction of human weakness. For example, weakness is shown when the men are trapped in the desert in a given bank of a river that is daunting to cross. The odd troubles of their current predicament describe to perpetuate human weakness. This paper will evaluate human weakness as propagated by the poem, The Hollow Men. Is it like this, in death s other kingdom, waking alone is an important quote that depicts human weakness in the face of various fears (Bush 20). For example, weaknesses express itself through the curiosity of the characters as to whether or not heaven is as bad as their current environment. Specifically, the notion of loneliness is evident in the quote as an important aspect circumventing human weakness. Isolation is one of the feelings that follow. As such Sangi, Soomro, and Gopang emphasize that Elliot is successful in showing that human beings are devoid of the evident qualities of strength, determination and moral strength (473). Accordingly, in line with the heading, people behave like empty bodies that lack the positive virtues ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The stories A Tell Tale Heart by Edgar Allen Poe and A Long Day s Journey Into Night by Eugene O Neill revolve around the development of their deeply flawed characters with severe mental instabilities. The damage done to the characters around them is matched only by the mental disturbance of each of the characters. In A Long Day s Journey Into Night by contrast, the mother in the story, named Mary, begins a normal woman concerned with the wellbeing of her son who was recently been diagnosed with what was commonly called consumption, but is now referred to as tuberculosis. Because she is so anxious about her son s worsening health, Mary withdraws, via morphine, into a happier past (Text 2). As the play progresses, Mary s worsening mental state is reflected by her worsening appearance, climaxing near the end of the work, when she ends the night, eyes glassy, wedding gown half worn, high on morphine regressing back to her happiest day, her wedding day. In her state she has completely disassociated herself from her surroundings, so much so that she forgets to ask her son, returning from the doctor what the diagnosis was. Her addiction causes her state to worsen throughout the play, damaging the relationships of those around her, culminating in a complete disconnection from reality. Nothing. No game (Salinger 8). Clearly, Holden identifies himself with the people on the other side. He shows that he is sort of isolated from the rest of the world and created this cynical view of everyone and everything. He shows that he has no hope in becoming on of the hot shots and already expresses that he is a lost cause and does not know what to do with his life. • 13. Beatty Samuelson Essay 7. Bluffing can be ethical, depending on the circumstances and how it is employed. In fact, Beatty Samuelson, in Essentials of Business Law, points out the Kantian evasion or plater , which serves as the basis for deceiving someone in an ethical way. She describes it as a truthful statement that is nonetheless misleading (36). For instance, Kant s example of a murderer coming to our door asking for someone who is in our own home and who he wants to kill illustrates an instance when answering questions fully could lead to terrible consequences (36). In that case, Samuelson argues, telling the truth and pointing the killer to the victim would be very costly, so it is better to employ Kant s evasion principle and reply with a truthful, but misleading statement. The repercussions of the severe problem of gender discrimination in American society can be seen in the gender pay gap in our country. In fact, according to the Institute for Women s Policy Research, In 2014, female full time workers made only 79 cents for every dollar earned by men, a gender wage gap of 21 percent. Women, on average, earn less than men in virtually every single occupation for which there is sufficient earnings data for both men and women to calculate an earnings ratio. The plot of the revolt is a significant incident in American history, with just the thought of it actually occurring enough to terrify citizens of South Carolina. The Denmark Vesey rebellion is most remembered because of its closeness to success. The plot internally fell through when informers betrayed him, and confessed to their masters the plans that had been made. By the end of the summer of 1822, Vesey, along with 34 other leaders, were arrested and tried. They were then convicted and executed in a place that is still unknown to us. • 20. Analysis Of The Book Outremer By Nabil Saleh The thirteenth century showed a lot of tension between religious and political groups and leaders. The church in those days had more power and control over the state. One religious tension in particular was the hatred between Cathars and Catholics. While they both came from the Christian religion, the Cathars had different beliefs and a different leading system than the Catholics, and the Catholics saw the Cathars as heretics. The Cathars were overrunning the French land of Languedoc, and so a series of wars started between the French Catholics and the Languedoc Cathars. In the book, Outremer, by Nabil Saleh, we are introduced to many characters, religions, and relationships. It gives us a look at how the different religions, political leaders, and families connected with or lived beside one another. In my opinion, Outremer shows more religious tension than political tension during the thirteenth century, but still it does not show the reality and full effect of the tension. From the beginning of the book, we are shown the tension between Christians and Cathars when Aimeric s father sends him on a mission to travel to Tyre and kill King Philip of Montfort. There is hatred between the two religions from events that happened years ago, and the Cathars still want revenge on the Christians. Although the main character, Aimeric, accepts his father s mission, he ends up meeting people from different religions and getting along with them as if they were of his own family. ... If the printing press was never invented, imagine how life would be. We would not have things like books or newspapers, and we wouldn t be able to share information quickly. To understand the printing press it is useful to know how it works, and to understand the significance. In 1436 Johannes Gutenberg invented the printing press. It caused rapid growth in the production of books and caused changes in European civilization. The original printing press used a set group of type blocks together that made words and sentences. Le Bon was a witness to the actions of the French Commune, in the spring of 1871, what he refers to as the French Convention in his essay The Crowd: A Study of the Popular Mind. He was greatly influenced in what he saw during this revolutionary uprising and analyzed the actions of crowds and the way they acted differently than the individuals within them would (Wikipedia, n.d.). The individuals in the crowd lose their conscience personality and adopt the thoughts and actions of the psychological crowd. Introduction It has been argued that Karl Marx theory of alienation has lost relevance in contemporary society when understanding the relationship of the individual worker in a capitalist society. It is this statement being proposed by several sociologists who believe alienation being an empty statement in relation to contemporary society. However like many other sociological concepts this one is still contested which is why I will explore the theory of alienation and what effect it has on contemporary society, and argue that Marx s theory of alienation still applies to the process of the owners of production exploiting the working classes. I will start by looking into the four different dimensions of alienation and how these relate to Marx s critique of capitalist society, then relating this concept to modern society. the four dimensions of alienation Alienation as a definition was initially conflicted as it has very different meanings such as the English definition defines alienation as to turn away the feelings of someone or to transfer an individual s property Affine, Y. H. (1997). Alienation has been described as a lack of self actualisation (ester, 1985, p. 77) which results in a non satisfaction of needs in an individual however this is vague because there are a variety of basic human needs that need to be satisfied. • 44. Textual Analysis Weekend From the beginning to the end of the music video Hmm for the Weekend by Coldplay featuring Beyoncé (2015), the audience is shown a multiple array of colours and authentic sounds, from traditional bells, to Chris Martin s angelic voice. However, the video also portrays prolific visuals of the Indian culture. On one hand, viewers suggest it over generalizes the representation of an Indian culture as it screens the false realties of race and ethics. On the other hand, there are those who suggest it shows the appreciation of the culture. Through Jason Rodriquez s article Color Blind Ideology Culture Appropriation of Hip Hop (2006), this paper will explain how the music video Hmm for the Weekend by Coldplay featuring Beyoncé uses culture ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Rodriquez, color blind ideology is what leads to the assertion of essential sameness between racial and ethnic groups despite unequal social locations and distinctive histories (165). In this case, the targeted group is Coldplay since they are blinded by their political and social statuses as artists while they use Indian culture to their advantage to maintain popularity in the music industry. Rodriquez suggests that color blind ideology is noticed when the dominant group is aware of the social, political, and economic status of both groups and uses the attributes from the minority group to an extensive level (657). The political and artistic goal of the video frames the use of the Indian festival Holi. In addition, it captures the religious tradition and uses it as a prop. The video essentially plays off a false ideology towards the ethnic view of India as it inoculates the dominant picture of a real Indian culture. The idea of sameness creates the illusion of how one can act and look as a real Indian if dressed in a certain way, or if one celebrates the same tradition. Analysing the context of the video through color blind ideology, it is important to view the social, economic and political status between two different groups in order to realize how one group uses the other. The myth of sameness is effective since it perpetuates the inequalities when one compares the difference between two groups. Color blind ideology is a form of racism since it creates a dominant culture to admit to taking familiarities from another culture without the dominant culture truly realizing the effect. For instance, Coldplay uses their advantage as a popular culture music group to represent a variety of themes to their fans and supporters; however, the group fails to realize their racial privilege and social status in ... • 45. Thucydides And The Peloponnesian War Thucydides was born in 460 B.C.E in a noble family, which was linked to Athens and its leaders. He was one of the greatest ancient Greek historians and author of the History of the Peloponnesian War, in which he describes the struggle between Athens and Sparta. Thucydides was also interested in the technical part of the war. He focused on the difficulties and possibilities in a war between the powerful land force of Sparta along its allies and the powerful naval force of Athens. He observed that the strategic interaction of states followed a visible and repeated pattern. According to him the relationship of states in a system is dependent on the hierarchal system they have. Therefore he concluded that any alteration in the hierarchy of the powerful states would extremely shake the structure of their system while any alteration in the status of the weak states would make no difference to the system. Thucydides relates this conclusion to the Peloponnesian War because he believed that the outbreak of war was a result of the change in their system as the power of the Athenian state was growing and attempting to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For him international relation is simply a tool used to allow the powerful states to exploit their power while the weak states suffer. In my opinion this image of international relations Thucydides draws seems a bit two faced since it is the lack of international relations that leads to a lack of central government, which then creates an anarchic world. Thucydides focuses way too much on competitiveness over power and strength and how it can cause conflict and war between to parties. He ignores the possibility that opposing party s can learn to coexist by creating relations with each in order to gain interest from one another which would also create interdependence leaving less room for ... • 46. The Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, South Carolina In 1997 I was a Marine Aircraft Firefighter stationed at the Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, South Carolina. One of the tasks we performed was performing static displays for groups touring the base. Two places every tour group would visit was the military police and the fire station; we were the fire station. Staff Sergeant Draughn and I (we were both supervisors) stood in front of these children while our Marines performed a drill where an alarm would sound; they would come down the slide from upstairs, get dressed roll about 30 yards, pull out the hoses and put out either the simulated fire or a small controlled fire. On this particular occasion it was a group elementary school kids from the local school district. Draughn looked at me and said. Look at these kids, just think, as innocent as they look now, in about 10 to 15 years some will be murders, and criminals. I laughed and agreed; realizing that criminals come from everyday walks of life; as I reflect that was the first time I can truly pinpoint the first time I had a biased perspective on the younger generation. I was 29 years old at the time and looked like I was 20. I was before I was shot so I weighed at the most 160 lbs., and it s hard to say I that heavy at the time. Throughout my life I have always been in service and I thought I was very liberal minded; I ve always loved being nice to people and helping people and so I thought my altruistic personality was perfect for social work. • 47. Life Has Learned In My Life At the age of six I had not given much thought about life and death, but this day changed that. As a baby, I cannot imagine all the things I did that put myself in danger. I was completely unaware of the consequences of my actions. As a child, I was playful, innocent, and cheerful. Throughout my years of growing up I have learned many lessons through life. Only a few events happened before this one that I can remember. On my 6th birthday, life could have been lost, and from that I learned to always be careful and that life can change in an instant. First, I woke up Saturday afternoon. Since it was Saturday, I slept longer than usual. Today was the day chosen to celebrate my birthday, which was actually a few days before. It was my 6th birthday party. My parents and I decided that the party would take place at our home. We invited all our neighbors and friends. I was young, energetic, and ready to enjoy life. Next, I got out of my Rugrats sheet covered bed. I headed down the narrow and white hallway to the living room. I greeted my parents and had a small breakfast. I ate scrambled eggs and toast for breakfast. After eating I asked my parents if I could ride my bike with friends before coming back home. My parents agreed that was ok. I went into the garage to get my blue, new, Mongoose bicycle. My bicycle was a gift from my parents, which I received on my birthday. After returning home from bike riding, I got an hour of rest before the party was ready to begin. I exited ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
