Kanner s Theory Of Autistic Children
In the mid 1900s, psychiatrist Leo Kanner and a pediatrician Hans Asperger used the same word
autism for a condition where children had deficits in socializing and forming contact. Stemming off
the greek word autos meaning self, Kanner stated that autistic children had good cognitive potential
yet they had islets of ability meaning their intelligence was focused in silos. There was an
assumption that autistics were incapable of intelligence and were mentally disabled. Later, Laurent
Mottron discredited the theories that autismis caused parents or refrigerator mothers and shed light
on the fact that neurotypicals lack the abilities of autistic savants. The view of individuals with
autism is skewed and as Amanda Baggs shows in her vivid video describing her behaviour, it...

These prodigies, who had reached professional status at a very young age had varying theories of
causation ranging from nurture to nature. The results indicated they had elevated level of
intelligence, working memory and attention to detail. Interestingly, however, their family pedigrees
showed an over representation of relatives with autism. This indicates a potential commonality
between child prodigies and savants genetically leading to the conclusion that child prodigies
possess a form of autism but suppress typical signs. In Carly s Voice , a book written by the father
of an autistic child, the chapter From the Horse s Mouth is Carly s own words on her experience
with autism. The challenge to understand autism comes from a lack of communication with autistic
individuals but as Carly walks through her processing she explains her behaviours. The
overstimulation that autistic individuals experience and the need for audio filtering, sorting out
sensory information, helps tear down barriers of the view of what autistic individuals are capable of

Eva Mouze Kor Research Paper
Eva Mozes Kor
On January 31st, 1934 Eva Mozes Kor and her twin sister, Miriam, were born in a small village in
Portz, Romania. Alexander and Jaffa were Eva s parents who also gave birth to Eva s two other
sisters, Edit and Aliz. Eva and Miriam both went to a one room school for their first 4 years of
education (Candles Holocaust Museum). Eva Kor is a survivor and a phenomenal twin who endured
all of Dr. Mengele s experiments and survived the horrors of Auschwitz. When Eva and her sister
were six years old the village they had known was invaded by a Hungarian Nazi armed guard and
from this point on they experienced horrific things that only little would survive. The Mozes family

Mengele made a lot of sets of twins his guinea pigs and Eva and Miriam fell under that category.
Someone once asked Eva, How did you feel while you were being used as a guinea pig by Josef
Mengele? My answer is that the emotional scars were so deep that only now, more than 40
years later are we attempting to face our past that it will always hurt to remember that were
reduced to the lowest form of existence. We were treated like animals we were his guinea pigs
(Caplan). Right now in time during this camp all the twins had to keep their minds off of things,
so they would knit. They used one of the twin s sweater and each person got a turn, after that one
person was done they would unravel it and hand it to the next person. Just because they did this
did not mean that danger and death could just drift away. One day one of the twin s mom passed
in a cart all going to their resting place, and this scared Eva (Kor and Buccieri 47). Eva could not
think about her family at this point it would distract her from taking care of herself and Miriam.
After all this time Miriam was becoming sick because of all of the experiments done to her, and
Eva wanted to take care of her so Eva could become stronger. Because they were twins, they were
family, we did not let go. At Auschwitz dying was easy, surviving was a full time

The Downfall of Capitalism
As the distinguished economist, John Maynard Keynes notes: Capitalism is the extraordinary belief
that the nastiest of men, for the nastiest of motives, will somehow work for the benefit of all. At the
core of the Robert Taylor homes is a functioning capitalist society. As in all capitalist societies, it is
the role of the government to defend the economic interests of the faction that controls the means of
production by suppressing anyone seen as a threat to its dominance. In the Robert Taylor homes, the
Black Kings were the state that defended the means of production by suppressing any threat to their
business through notion of hustling. Even though as a functioning capitalist society, the Robert
Taylor homes were community plagued by severe destitution. The community suffered from many
illegal activities in addition to the high rates of unemployment and welfare. Furthermore, the
housing project was completely ignored by the municipal government. In this lawless environment,
there was no independent police, and for many there was no steady income. The combination of
these two elements increased the power gang, thus they were the enforcers. The people of the
community had to compete amongst each other for resources. Those of the Robert Taylor
community had to make the best use of what they had, and this is known as survival. What many
come to understand, as hustling and other unethical activities, are known as survival to members of
the Black Kings gang and the tenants

Panic Disorder Research Paper
Exploring Panic Disorder
Everyone has experienced moments of severe anxiety and panic in their lives. Stressful situations
can throw our minds into turmoil, causing extreme negative impacts on our bodies. However,
there are people who suffer from moments like these far more often than the average person.
These people also experience panic in situations that would not seem very stressful to others. This
type of recurrent, extreme panic episode is called panic disorder, and it falls under anxiety disorders,
a broader category of mental health issues.
An article by McGrandles and Duffy (2012) describes characteristics of panic disorder as including
recurrent panic attacks that occur suddenly and without warning. These can cause persistent ... Show

This should be the first action taken to attempt to control and treat the disorder. However, in more
severe cases, this simple technique is not enough. Psychological therapy involved in treating panic
disorder focuses on helping the patient modify behaviors and responses to situations that will
ultimately reduce feelings of panic. These types of treatment can involve many sessions with a
mental health professional in order to be successful. For example, McGrandles and Duffy (2012)
state there is a large body of research supporting the use of cognitive behavioral therapy across the
spectrum of anxiety disorders and psychological interventions such as CBT tend to be considered
safer than drug treatments (p. 5). In the event that psychotherapy is not single handedly successful,
pharmacological therapy can come into play. Certain medications can be taken by the patient to
help reduce the severity and frequency of panic attacks. At present there are several different types
of drugs which could be prescribed for the treatment of anxiety such as anti depressants,
benzodiazepines and beta blockers (McGrandles Duffy, p. 6). In the event that medication therapy is
used, psychological therapy should also continue to be used in conjunction. The patient and doctor
must work together in order to determine the best

St. Thomas Aquinas Arguments For The Existence Of God
When contemplating the theories of ethics, one can expand upon the ideas of Utilitarian and Duty
ethics using St. Thomas Aquinas arguments for the existence of God. The concept of Utilitarian
ethics suggests that a moral act is one that brings about the most happiness. With this definition,
one must conclude that there must be some optimal happiness or good. If there is a choice
between levels of happiness then one must define the optimal happiness or the most good that
could exist in order to judge the relative goodness of an act. Therefore there must be a maximum
goodness or happiness which is the cause of all other means of happiness. This argument is one that
corresponds with St. Thomas Aquinas proof of the existence of God. In his... Show more content on

Happiness is not the only key in determining the ethics of an act according to Kant and the theory
of Duty ethics. In the article The Metaphysics of Morals, contained within the dialogue between
the student and the teacher, Kant argues that one must balance happiness and reason. Happiness,
being the ultimate or overall good or welfare of a being, must be rationalized by reason, being the
measure of how worthy one is of this happiness. The observance of reason is then what Kant
deems worthiness to happiness. Nevertheless, Kant also brings up an interesting point that
humanity cannot always provide it selves with happiness, but that the circumstances of our lives
are often out of our control. He then argues that the fact that there is some kind of order and
wisdom in nature that is outside of our control points to the workings of a higher power. This
argument again points to the fact that there must be some ultimate good or goal in which creation
as a whole is designed. This argument parallels St. Thomas Aquinas fifth argument the Argument
from Design begins with the fact that all natural bodies work toward some goal, and do not do so
by choice. He then states that most natural things lack knowledge and things that lack knowledge,
like an arrow for example, can achieve a goal by being directed from someone with

David K. Shipler s A Sociological Study
Sociologists observe the world to find a problem or an interesting pattern, then begin to study
their findings. They use research methods to design a study, such as a detailed, scientific method
for piloting research and obtaining data, or study an outline. The research method is the main
step in a sociological study. The author David K. Shipler had an urge to reveal a hidden part of
society, which was America s working poor in 1977. Shipler s goal was to let the hidden and
forgotten part of society is known; which were employed workers that are still struggling to
survive. He had confidence in letting people know about the large portion of American society
is poor or struggling. Shipler devoted six years of his life to create particular stories about
different people and situations throughout his book. Shipler use of research method was
processed by interviewing eight different families about their inner lives. This method gave his
readers visual of the invisible part of America society by taking his readers on a journey into the
world of the working poor by presenting their struggles. He provides the reader with
understanding of workplaces, homes, personal thoughts and feelings of the working poor. In each
chapter, combines shared experiences and interviews, from different parts of the working poor
such as legal and illegal immigrants working in America. Shipler also describes the lack of
housing, wages, and health care they receive. Chapters in this book were stories

Declaration Of Independence Persuasive Essay
I couldn t happen, but notice the terrible disagreement you engaged in with your dearest lover
Allie. The way you two were talking to each other and the words that were exchanged appeared to
be a huge conflict. To begin, the first problem you seem to have is relationship dissolution.
Relationship dissolution is the breaking or dissolving of the bonds that hold the relationship
together. A huge reason behind this may be because you are very verbally abusive. When you
called Allie names such as pain in the ass it did not help, but make the conflict worse. Instead of
calling Allie names you should seek to engage in more productive communication such as, not using
vulgar words or explaining the issue is a more appropriate manner. In addition,... Show more

Force is when you are act like you are in control and do not give the other person an alternate
choice, but to choose your opinion. Allie needs time to think over her decision. Seemingly, as
you are discussing the issue you are putting an exuberant amount force on Allie to choose you.
This is very unfair because it takes away from what Allie wishes to do. As you are forcing your
opinion on Allie, it takes away her ability to form an opinion on her own. This problem is seen
through your conflict as you make statements such as, Would you just stay with me? or Well I
hate you. If you leave here. I hate you . Each of these statements force Allie into wanting to stay
with you instead of giving her space to make her own decision. A possible solution to this
problem would be to use active listening. Active listening is requiring the listener to be fully
concentrated and open to what the other individual is trying to communicate. While you are
actively listening you must not make any judgements about what Allie is saying. Active listening
will allow for you to hear Allie s opinion without adding your judgement in. Also, this solution
will help Allie feel more appreciated and accepted by you. If you were able to fully listen to what
Allie is saying, you most likely would avoid forcing your own opinion on

other instruments are added and as the singing starts, the drums almost fade entirely. Their

What Is The Perpetuation Of Western Beauty
Every morning, countless girls and young women sit at their TV watching primarily thin, white
actresses playing the lead roe on whatever show they happen to be watching. During
commercials, more fit white people with straight white teeth, doe eyes, and thin noses are
advertising any product imaginable. These young children go to the store to pick from a variety
and what they re met with has the variation of a bowl of cheerios. Barbies, for example: you can
choose from 10 white dolls with big blue eyes, a waist the width of her neck, blonde hair, thin
lips... or one black doll with the same eurocentric features only with darker skin and brown hair.
These standards are set at a young age and follow women to their grave. The TV isn t the only
place these expectations become clear; they re everywhere. In magazines, every model is below a
size 2 unless specifically targeting plus sized women (it was recently determined that plus sized
includes any womansize 8 or higher). In every advertisement, these women pop up so often
promoting not only a product but an expectation on how to live in order to achieve the look
deemed normal. Young women grow up believing that they need to be beautiful in order to be
accepted. Only the catch is, the idea of beauty beat into their heads is an ideal impossible to
achieve healthily and naturally by the majority of women. The perpetuation of Western beauty
standards is an ideal that causes harm to young women, and especially young women of color.

Schlumberger has added value to its operations by offering availability in places where the oil
services are needed. They also are moving some of their sustainable R D, sourcing, manufacturing,
testing, and assembly to countries with possibly low cost of operations which coincidentally may
also be where the market for their products services are experiencing growth. Schlumberger s
closest competitors are Halliburton and Baker Hughes.
I remembered a former Colombian senator once said if these three companies vanished overnight,
the world s energy system would start to break down in a couple of days. His point of view was
settled to clarify how important these companies have become in the oil and gas sector and how
strong they are in the oil chain.
I also am absolutely convinced how well and fascinating it would be for someone to join one of
these companies as a team member. They represent the kind of companies that also offer a
permanent learning process in a friendly environment. Schlumberger is also noted in the petroleum
industry for its decentralized management style and the autonomy the company extended to its field
engineers.
Weaknesses
Schlumberger has spread its service operations in a variety of ways. However, the company could
be falling in its core company activity. Some critics are actually focused in the operation the
company has in the geo seismic area. To attend this sector in 2003 the company bought the

By itself it is about 1.5 to 2.5 feet tall and very fuzzy or grassy at the top. It has a fuzzy stem and
sometimes can look like a cattail. In a group it looks like normal tall grass, but when you get
close up, you can see that it is only grassy at the top. It spreads very quickly and has a clumping
habitat. This is how you identify Medusahead. There are many ways to remove Medusahead.
Technically speaking, chemicals are the best removal method. Herbicides are a good tool for
managing Medusahead populations and often improve the success of other control methods such as
tillage, burning, or re vegetation. Grazing is only somewhat effective because the animals don t
always eat it and mechanical removal doesn t kill the roots. Controlled burn on the other hand, is
very effective. It kills down to the roots, killing the entire plant. This proves why chemical removal
is the best method. There are many interesting facts about Medusahead. One is that it creates a
silica layer around itself preventing bugs from eating it. Medusahead often initially establishes
itself on livestock, allowing it to easily disperse into the environment and grow in various
locations. This is why it is common along trails and open fields. Because of its fuzzy tops, it is
commonly mistaken for the Cattail plant. These are just a few of the many interesting facts about

Legal Developments in Western Civilization
Legal Developments in Western Civilization
The span of Western Civilization encompasses many notable achievements in legal development.
As empires rise and expand, it becomes necessary to create a legal code that standardizes
punishment, institutes a form of common law, and protects society from arbitrary abuses of
power. These principles were formally established relatively early in the western world, and
became the foundations upon which later government institutions created their legal systems. The
Code of Hammurabi, the Twelve Tables, and Magna Carta, all represent key moments in the
evolution of legal thought and practice. Not only do they show the legal and political direction of
the empires, but also the progression of their social values The Babylonian empire s success was
due in large part to its powerful sixth king, Hammurabi who reigned from 1792 1750 B.C.E. At the
age of twenty five he succeeded to the throne and devoted the first thirty years of his reign to wars
of conquest. His military success meant that his empire now possessed a diverse population that
was difficult to placate. To aid in unifying the empire and making punishments standard and
universal, he issued the Code of Hammurabi. In three hundred clauses, Hammurabi established the
rudiments of common law. Though not a set of statutes to be cited, it did provide judges with
examples of past decisions handed down for various disputes. His concept of justice was reflected

Aspergillus terreus. The simvastatin is an inactive lactone which is hydrolysed to the ОІ
hydroxyacid form when it is taken orally. ОІ hydroxyacid form is an inhibitor of 3 hydroxy 3

The mode of action
Statins are competitive inhibitors HMG CoA reductase, it has been considered as a first line for the
treatment of hypercholesterolemia. Their mode of action is by mimicking the substrate molecule
HMG CoA and competes for binding to the HMGCR enzyme. It works by slowing the production
rate of mevalonate which responsible for the production of cholesterol molecule.
Most of the cholesterol synthesis in the body is done by internal mechanism through the liver cells
particularly at night during fasting; it is taken at night to inhibit the cholesterol production. It
maximizes its inhibitory effect and the data shows a significant fall in the LDL and a fall in the
total cholesterol level in the blood.
Simvastatin can have different pharmacological effects from other statins groups due to different
ring structures and chemical side groups such as different affinity toward the receptors, different
rates of connection to liver cells from non liver cells, different bioavailability and biochemical
metabolism and execration. All these factors affect its half life which is short (Anon, 2015).
Statins are selective towards the hepatic cells because of their lipophilic properties. It passes
through the membrane towards the cell

How Does The Endocrine System Contribute To Homeostasis
In the human body the internal temperature is maintained at 37 degrees Celsius and this is
maintained as a result of homeostasis. Homeostasis is the process of balancing or keeping a stable
internal environment in the body. A majority of organ systems in the body contribute to
homeostasis, however there are two very important organ systems that play a massive role within
this process, and they are the endocrine and nervous system. Both are crucial as they permit
communication in the body and the integration of cells as well as tissue functions.
The body s internal environment is regulated by three components, they are known as the feedback
systems of homeostasis. The feedback system is made up of the receptor, a control center and
effector. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once they have been secreted together they form an osmotic equivalent of water so by the time
they reach the end of the proximal tubule about two thirds of these fluid have been reabsorbed. The
loop of Henle is linked with maintaining that osmotic gradient in the renal medulla. This is
achieved by sodium chloride being transported from the tubular fluid ( the interstitium) without
changing the osmotic uptake of the water. The osmolality of the water leaving the tube of Henle is
lower than the plasma, whilst the interstitium is higher. According to the requirements of the body
the distal tubule adjusts the ionic balance of the body by changing the amount of sodium and other
substances that are reabsorbed back into the body. It is also responsible for the secretion of
hydrogen ions, which leads to the acidification of the urine, because of this, this urine that leaves
the distal tubule is dilute. If the osmolality of the urine is relatively high when it passes through the
collecting ducts, water is absorbed under the influence of antidiuretic hormone (ADH) and the urine
that is concentrated is excreted.
However, if the osmolality of the urine is low, little ADH is secreted.
To conclude, if the communication between the organs is adequate then

The Psychology Of Human Behavior
Psychology, the study of human behavior, encompasses numerous realms and topics. From
human development to drug abuse, psychologists strive to understand behavior and apply their
findings. One such area that begets curiosity and research is the cognitive process that is
memory. Memory is one of the most precious and crucial components of a person. Experiences
shape a personality and create a person. Memories in the form of a witness s testimony have the
power to jail someone for life. However, are these memories reliable? The biological perspective in
psychologyis the study of the brain, genetics, hormones, and neurotransmitters and how these
factors influence behavior. With respect to the biological level of analysis, the three principles
that are encouraged are as follows: the use of animals in research is encouraged, behavior can be
innate because it is genetically based, and there are biological correlates of behavior. When
evaluating the reliability of memory, one can take a biological approach, using the principles to
design an experiment that would successfully investigate the biological correlates of the cognitive
process. Martinez and Kesner is an example of such an experiment. The purpose of this experiment
was to determine the role of acetylcholine on memory. Acetylcholine is one of the seven major
neurotransmitters in the body. It is thought to influence muscle movement and memory as there are
several links between a lack of the neurotransmitter and

Tompkins Conservation
Deforestation, pollution, poaching, and soil abuse are just four of the innumerable factors that lead
to deleterious effects on the environment. With more and more trees falling under the determined
chainsaws and axe blows of illegal loggers and soil loss from tenuous irrigation methods, South
American governments have a rising concern to protect its ecosystem. But an unusual, and equally
controversial, solution came not within the restraining bounds of the country borders, but from the
efforts of the American multi millionaire and philanthropic conservationist, Douglas Tompkins.
Concerned about the ecology of South America, Tompkins purchased sumptuous strips of forest
land to shield it from the venomous ways of poachers and illegal loggers.... Show more content on

The best solution to this imminent conflict would be for Tompkins to expropriate a sizeable chunk
of his land to national conservatories to ensure the public had sufficient access to public road,
ancestral grounds, and water and mineral rights. However, he should also maintain a steadfast
determination to keep most of his land as long as necessary to ensure it has recovered from past
human interactions and see it delivered safely into the hands of Argentine conservatories. As a
whole, his campaign to conserve the environment has been successful and beneficial both to him
and the ecosystem. In culmination, Tompkins, as a conservational philanthropist, has inaugurated
his conservational efforts to accumulate a sizeable portion of foreign nations. Due to lawmakers
and local residents rising concern of his control of natural resources and his property blocking
public transportation routes, he must devise a solution that will satisfy both conservational and
public demands. Thus, the most effective and equitable solution would be to sequester most of his
land to local conservation efforts, so as to ensure the government had adequate control over its
natural resources and access to ancestral

Waitakere Range Research Paper
The Waitakere Ranges are home to many flora and fauna. These plants and animals make up the
communities within their ecosystem. They interact with each other through competition and
various relationships. In the Waitakere Ranges, there are several habitats organisms live in:
Forests and shrub lands
Freshwater wetlands, lakes and streams
Coastal wetlands, dunes, and estuarine tidal flats and channels
Urban area
The populations of each habitat vary, as they would be dependent on abiotic factors such as: light,
temperature, water and soil.
Within communities, organisms compete for limited resources (food, space, mates, shelter). 613 of
our native species (plants, birds, fish), compete with 240 introduced plant species, 19 introduced
bird species, 9 introduced mammals and 2 amphibians. It is estimated that we have lost 30 native
bird species due to this competition. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Next, primary consumers such as snails and weta eat producers, consuming their nutrients.
Secondary consumers, such as Kereru, Tui and Long Tailed Bats then consume these insects, with
energy passing through the food chain to them. Tertiary consumers such as stoats and possums are
pests to our native species as they are threats to populations of our native birds.
Pests in the Waitakere ranges include wasps, mould, rats, goats and pigs. These species are
considered predators and parasites, these species benefit while their prey species is harmed.
Wasps and mould kill native trees for shelter and food. Rats, goats and pigs prey on native species
of birds, insects and fauna. Predation by introduced species of native species both threatens native
populations, but also the balance of the ecosystem. With predatory niches being taken, these pests
not only threaten their prey, but also native

Speech On Monkey Mind
This surprisingly simple yet powerful trick will calm your monkey mind anytime, anywhere, with
little effort
Ever observed monkeys?
You would have noticed them jabbering non stop, slinging between tree branches, jumping,
scratching their body, combing the hair of other monkeys and what not.
The chances of finding them staying still are very rare. Maybe, when you offer them bananas, they
might calm down a bit. But soon they would become restless and fidgety.
Incidentally, you too have an in built monkey.
A monkey that s invisble, and dictactes your actions, your feelings, your happiness, and ultimately
your life.

Harnessing the power of neuroplasticity to change the way you respond to situations
Neuroplasticity is basically the ability of your brain to change its function or structure by forming
new neural pathways in response to new habits, behaviours and information.
Harnessing its power allows you to refresh your thinking patterns, rewire your emotions, and
respond differently to the same situations.
You can do this by simply incorporating a few new habits into your everyday life to train your mind.

Pros And Cons Of Semi-Automatic Transmission
DISCUSSION In past years, transmission includes the right angle drives and other gearing in
windmills, horse powered devices and steam engines that supports pumping, milling and hoisting.
This has been modified in most modern gearboxes that are being used to increase the rotation
while reducing the speeding like in a motor crank which is an arm attached at the right angles to
the rotating tube. It is used to convert circular motion. The decrease in speed produces a
mechanical advantage, increasing rotation or force. Let us discuss one of the common vehicle
being used by common people before this study discuss the motor vehicles with different

Mostly drivers wonder how a semi automatic vehicle can be operated. This is actually a hybrid
form of transmission. When it is said to be hybrid, it is a mixture of manual and automatic
transmission where an integrated control system handles manipulation of the clutch automatically,
but the driver can still and could take manual control of gear selection. Based on the research made,
semi automatic transmission is sometimes called a clutch less manual , or automated manual
transmission. Mostly of this transmission, the driver is allowed to fully delegate gear shifting
choice to the control system which acts as like it was regular automatic transmission. Semi
Automatic Transmission or SAT does not change gears automatically, but rather helps manual gear
changes by giving out the need to press a clutch pedal at the same time as changing gears. It uses
electronic sensors, pneumatics, processors and actuators to shift gear on input from the driver or
by a computer. SAT is designed to provide a better driving experience through fast overtaking
vehicles on highways. Some motorcycles also use a system with a typical gear change but without
the need for manual clutch operation. Semi automatic transmissions have also made their way into
the truck and bus market in the early

The Importance Of Managers For The World Of Business Today
Managers play an important role in the world of business today. They are an essential part of a
company. They are like the caboose of a train. By definition a manager is someone that plans,
organizes, leads, and controls but, there is a more in depth meaning of the roles they play.
Managers provide services in areas such as, business law, human resources, leadership, accounting,
finance, economics, research and statistics, operations management, marketing, and strategic
planning. There are three levels of management, the first level, middle level, and top level. Each of

The next level of management would be the middle level. They are the general managers,
regional managers, and district managers of a company. Middle level managers are given the
task of enforcing the goals set by the top level managers. In addition, they set their own set of
goals based upon the ones set by the top level managers. Middle mangers do a lot work in
assisting first line managers. They help to encourage them to achieve business standards. They
are like a liaison between the top level managers and the first level managers because the
communicate issues amongst the two levels. They can monitor and help between small to large
groups of people. A downside to being a middle level manager is that sometimes messages can
get mixed up between the top level and first level managers. Of course as before the good side to
it is the pay and the position. Many of these managers are former first level managers that was
promoted to the middle level management position. The last and final level of management is the
first level managers. The have got to be one of the most important managers because they work
with the bread and butter of the company. They are the store managers, department managers,
office managers, and shift supervisors. They handle all lower level employees and have a big
impact on the organization. They oversee the actions of others on a daily basis. In a way one can

What Are The Pros And Cons Of Texas Government
Padilla 1 Padilla 3 Maureen Padilla Prof.
Sharifian GOVT 2306 73434 30 Apr. 2017 Local Control In Texas, Governor Abbott, has claimed
to pass on the ban of local control, due to money. The government of Texas, has called it a quits for
fracking, plastic bags, and red light cameras, also known as photo enforcements. Though the Texas

Many people were affected by the decision government Abbott has made, which leads rivalry

Mahatma Gandhi, Athenian Essay
In this world, there are two kinds of persons and every person in the world either has a good side
or an evil side. In My Graduation Speech by Neil postman, Mahatma Gandhi shows some
characteristics of an Athenian. Athenians took interest in public affairs and the improvement of
public behaviour and so did Gandhi. He also inspired movements for civil rights and freedom
across the world. Mahatma Gandhi believed that the wrong acts done by people are acts of
violence against the social order and Athenians believed in that also. Mahatma Gandhi was a good

not ethnocentric, who used to hate the culture of others. Rather he used to believe in one s own
self strength and with this aim in mind, he started with swadeshi movement . He believed in
equal respect for all religions and he did not used to say anything insulting to anyone who was
from a lower caste from him. He used to treat everyone equally. He believed that everyone has
the right to live on this earth and that is why god made us all brothers and sisters so that we will
be there for each other s protection every time. Athenians cherished and lived happily with
whatever they had because they believed it s the most precious gift of human nature. They never
rejected anything and got whatever was being given to them in a very happy and appreciating
way. Same was with Mahatma Gandhi who never rejected anything and took everything happily.
He even sacrificed for his country happily. From the points written above proves that Mahatma
Gandhi was an Athenian by respecting and obeying every religion, culture and the traditions.
Athenians were the first group of people who lived about 2,500 years ago in a place called
Greece. They were the first people to develop a complete alphabet and invented the idea of political
democracy. They also invented philosophy, science and Olympics.

Alexis De Tocqueville s Political Writings
In 1776, the United States Declaration of Independence swore to life, liberty, and the pursuit of
happiness for all those that live in America. In 1787, the Constitution of the United States granted
the security of the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity . It s blatantly obvious that
the history of America, up until Alexis de Tocqueville wrote Democracy in America, had any of
those attributes been granted wholly. Liberty is relatable to the State of Nature, John Locke
describes in his Political Writings. Liberty is a state of entire freedom in thought, practice, mores,

Therefore, there are limitations to the majority but, it is hard to overcome them as the majority is
most powerful. He then describes the omnipotence of the majority and their power within the law.
Ultimately, the majority has the power to decide what is just and therefore, limit the rights of others

Milton creates Satan s character in this way in order to tempt and test his reader by appealing to
the reader s sinful side. His constant manipulation of the reader and the characters within the text
does not necessarily make him evil it just reflects poor judgment and bad character.
In Paradise Regained Satan no longer possesses the same conflicting dualities of good and bad;
instead his character illustrates a malevolent being. Satan no longer questions or reacts with
conflicting feelings towards his demonic actions and sentiments as he did in Paradise Lost. His
character is completely detached from the purity that was once within him and commits atrocities
without remorse or question. It is evident in Paradise Regained that Milton has completely
reconstructed Satan in such a malicious manner that there leaves no room for question whether
Satan is a bad or evil. Satan is presented as nothing other than pure evil. His speeches are no
longer alluring and infectious instead they reek with toxic flow. He is no longer apologetic for his
rebellion and his respect for the position on God represented in Book 1 of Paradise Regained has

Wicca s Role In Pagan Religion
Virtually everyone has heard of Christianity, Islam and Judaism. But among the three religions that
are close to being tied for fourth place in the United States, almost everyone has heard of
Buddhism and Hinduism. If you mention Wicca to the average American, you will probably
receive a blank stare. A major reason for this is that many Wiccans tend to keep their religionsecret;
they fear physical and economic attack.(http://www.religioustolerance.org/wic_prac.htm)
So with that being said, what exactly is wicca and why is it important? Wica is the basic belief
where individuals have the ability to follow their own inspiration and vision while seeking faith.
In order to fully grasp wicca, the understanding of the Pagan religion is highly recommend.

In most religions around the world, women were stuck in the patriarchal system in religion.
Women had a specific role in religion, where they were not allowed to achieve much higher status
of control or power within the religion. Wicca on the other hand valued women, and the idea of
creating new life. It is said that a women can control a race, whether it s, financially, economically,
or physically, women were the importance of the religion.
As wicca began to spread throughout Europe, it attracted many different types of cultures. Since
no one cultures was identical it was incredible that wicca attracted a variety of people. Wicca
unlike anything Europen was use to, was very accepting. Wicca accepted those of every faith
including, monotheistic, polytheistic, ritualistic, feminine based, masculine based, and more. Any
practiced no matter what it was or origin was accepted by the wicca people. That being said the

Solar Power Essay
Solar Power: An Alternative Energy Source
Since first discovered in the 1860s, the concept of storing energy from the sun to use as a source
of power has been studied and pursued by many programs. Either using solar collectors or
photovoltaic cells, the methods of using solar power are becoming more efficient and cost
effective. Solar technology is currently being used by homes and businesses, but is still too
expensive and risky for many residents. Researchers are still making advances to solar technology
for it to be a feasible energy source in the future.
Solar energy was first started in the 1860s when Auguste Mouchout and William Adams found a
way for storing solar radiation into tanks of water. Since then, there have been ... Show more content

Because silicon cells are only semi conductive, it is harder to generate an electrical current, and
therefore require collective grids to transfer electrons through a series of thin wires. Although
collective grids are the
Solar Power 3 most efficient way of solving conductive issues, it is expensive to produce.
Instead, photolithography is used to attach the metal grid to the cell. After the development of
PV cells in the 1940s, little progress was made for the next few years because of its expensive
cost. However, it was used in the space industry in the 1950s and 60s. Now, with nanotechnology
and other improvements, there is possibility for cheaper and more efficient production. Finally,
there are uses of solar furnaces to collect solar energy in a small area by reflecting the heat using
mirrors. An example of this is a solar furnace in Odellio, France that has the ability to heat up to
33,000 degrees Celsius (Darvill, 2007, para. 11).
Experiments with Solar Power Plants:
The Mojave Desert is an ideal place for solar power plants since it is so insolated and has more
sunlight than most areas of the United States. The Solar Energy Generating Systems were nine
trough power plants built in 1980s converting sunlight into electricity. Combined, they produced
354 MW of power, enough to support 500,000 people and making it a successful project.
(Wikipedia, 2007, para. 1).
The Solar Energy Technology Program (SETP) set up solar initiatives in hopes of replacing fossil

The Pros And Cons Of Area 51 To Area 51
People have wondered for many of years, what actually happens in Area 51? Well the
government has declassified some papers and allowed the former workers to share some of
their experiences. A document that has been declassified means that everyone can view the
information. A classified document is a document that is not able to be seen by everyone. A
person is only allowed to see a classified document if they have the right clearence level. Area 51
was originally built as a temporary testing site ( Top CIA Secrets ). The Central Intelligence
Agency of the United States of America has released or declassified some information that sheds
some light on what actually goes on at Area 51 and admits that Area 51 is real. In order for Area 51

Project Oxcart was the birth of the A 12. The A 12 could fly so fast that it could outrun a missile.
It could fly at altitudes as high as fifteen miles from the ground. The A 12 was the first stealth
plane ever made. It s plan was to fly as high and fast as possible. An A 12 can fly coast to coast in
seventy minutes, which is mach three. The only metal that could withstand those conditions
was titanium making up ninety three percent of the airplane. In order to get that much titanium,
the United States made a deal with the Soviet Union. When the A 12 prototype was completed, it
had to be moved to Area 51 from Burbank, California for testing. In order to do this, a box was
built around the A 12 and put on a semi truck. The box was so big that the path in front of the
truck had to be cleared. Trees and signs had to be removed so the truck would fit down the road.
The state highway patrol had to escort the truck to Area 51. They highway patrolman were not
told what was in the box but they were assured it was not weapons( Area 51 ). Once the convoy
made it to Area 51, the highway patrol was released because they were not allowed on the premises

How Does Shakespeare s Use Of Flowers In Hamlet
Throughout history flowers have been used as a form of cryptic communication to convey
messages of love and interest which could not be spoken aloud. Flowers serve as a common gift
to any mother or significant other on her birthday and mother s day because of their deep set
meaning which was established hundreds of years ago. The use of flowers to spread a message
died years ago however they are still used to share the emotions of the sender to the receiver.
Shakespeare s use of the language of flowersin Hamlet offers insight into Elizabethan culture by
providing examples of the subtextual meaning which was associated with flowers and how the
audience comprehended his use if these allusions. Shakespeare s use of the language of flowers in

people. One reason for variance among the interpretation was because they created this meaning
by observing many different cultures including Chinese, Japanese, Middle Eastern, Greek, and
Roman (Loy, S.2001). Each culture carried its own individual traditions, myths, and religions so
the meaning behind the plants changed depending on which country carried the most influence in
that particular location. In Turkey during the 1600 s the language of flowers had looser
interpretations and was seldom used alone. The name of the flower was followed by a word or
poem which rhymed and this added depth to the meaning of the symbol as a whole (Montagu, M.

people to believe, however, this was the first time that flowers held a meaning which could be

What Is Self Confidence Is Belief Within Oneself And...
What is self confidence, self confidence is belief in oneself and in one s powers and abilities.
(Merriam Webster) Most people will tell you that no one can change the way they view themselves,
and that their self confidence is high. Most of those people have not experienced someone close to
them or significant speaking or treating them negatively and making them feel less than or unsure
of themselves. Usually the person that can make you feel the most selfconscious are those that are
close to you, but others are more than capable to doing so as well. Those people will say and do
little subtle things that will make you second guess your abilities or how you look or carry
yourself. Sometimes it is just one comment or a series of comments that lead up to the feelings
up uncertainty and extreme self consciousness of the things that would once go unnoticed. The
comments start off small, and you try to ignore them, or people may act a certain way towards
you to make you feel uncomfortable. The worst experience I have ever had is when I was met
with the negative opinions of someone I was madly in love with. Just because they say that they
love you does not mean that they will not say or do things that will hurt you or make you feel self
conscious. At times this can be due to jealousy or wanting to keep you feeling bad to make
themselves feel better about themselves.
At the age of eighteen I was just beginning my life, at the time I decided to put off college and go

Stainless Steel Cookware Essay
The best kitchen tools for stainless steel cookware might not be what you think, but first a few
comments about the cookware itself. Stainless steel cookware is shiny and attractive, and is
used in many professional kitchens in preference to any other type. It looks extremely clean and
bright, and has a very prestigious appearance when hanging in your kitchen in full view of
visitors. Stainless steel is a good choice of metal for your cookware, although paradoxically it is
not a great heat conductor so the best form of stainless cookware to purchase should have highly
conductive copper or aluminum sandwiched between the stainless steel at the base of the pan. This
will ensure a more even distribution of heat across the base of the pan and... Show more content on

Wood is fine, but the problem is that you don t get a full range of kitchen tools in wood. Wooden
spoons and spatulas are common, but not slotted spoons, ladles or wooden fish slices. You can
use wood to an extent, and also some plastics so long as they are not too soft. Plastic tools are
OK: they are functional and won t harm your stainless steel cookware, but they can soften and
they don t generally have the strength behind them for any heavy jobs on the stove. Plastic also
melts if you leave it too long in contact with the side of a pan and that is not an uncommon
occurrence as I am sure you will know. However, wood and plastic have one advantage over
stainless steel kitchen tools, and that is that they don t conduct heat very well. You can use them
without burning your hands. There is one solution to that problem that the wonders of science
have brought to us: silicone. Kitchen tools made from cross linked silicone polymers do not melt,
do not conduct heat and do not scratch stainless steel cookware. However, they do cost money and
they still look like plastic. Don t get me wrong looks aren t everything, but for many women the
look of their kitchen is just as important as its functionality, and often even more

Nursing Timeline
Historical Development of Nursing Timeline Historical Development of Nursing Timeline The
19th century marked the beginning of professional nursing. Florence Nightingale was the legend
behind it as she began the struggle of nurses being recognized as professionals. It is hard to
believe that nurses were once assigned to the job as a sentence for crimes committed or for the
women who were too old or sick to hold conventional jobs. Nightingale s focus included infection
control, documentation, patient safety, confidentiality, and evidence based practice, which seems
common place today, but was very forward thinking for that period. The era of Florence Nightingale

However, Barrett (2002) believes knowledge is the focus of nursing science rather on theory or
research. George (2011) explains the relationship between theory, research, and practice
influence each other in a circular way. In other words, research and theory are not based on
hierarchy, but rather, practice is based on theories that are supported through research. To that
end, research and theory are not the only disciplines that have influenced nursing throughout the
ages. Interdisciplinary influences on the science of nursing Many influences affect the science
of nursing, such as philosophy, religion, education, anthropology, social sciences, and
psychology, as we will briefly discuss here. Holt and Clarke (2000) surmise philosophical
method can be useful because it requires careful analysis of words, concepts, arguments and
claims and therefore by definition demands and develops critical thinking. All of these essential
elements of philosophy are used as nursing requires the ability to analyze and evaluate patients
and provide care based on the best existing plan of care. Religion was once deeply rooted in
nursing and was seen as a ministry to Christ. Religious ties may not be so obvious in nursing
today, however, the focus on holistic and spiritual care reminds us the Christian influence has not
been erased completely. Holistic and spiritual care are terms widely used currently and are an
essential part of the nursing

The Poetry and Prose of Edgar Allen Poe
Art is in everything. Artists can be experts with a paintbrush, phenomenal with piano or a master of
their pen. Authors and poets have a chance to manipulate words like no other artist can. Poets in
particular can use their words to encompass different kinds of art by painting a picture with lyrical
rhythm and imagery. Poets may be common, but for their poetryto be timeless it must be
universally relatable. Edgar Allen Poe is regarded as one of the most famous poets in American
history due to his well renowned debauchery, gothic tales of terror, and poems which are taught in
schools and still analyzed today.

Each category had a surplus of corresponding poems. Mark Canada of University of North Carolina
at Pembroke cites critic Rodger Asselineau with the quote:
If Roderick Usher, Egaeus, Metzengerstein, and even Dupin are all alike, if Ligeia, Morella, and
Eleonora look like sisters, it is because, whether he consciously wanted to or not, he always takes
the story of his own life as a starting point, a rather empty story on the whole since he had mostly
lived in his dreams, imprisoned by his neuroses and obsessed by the image of his dead mother.
(Canada)
This expertly defines why all of Poe s themes were reoccurring. Another inspiration for Poe s
themes was his fascination with psychology. Phrenology is known as the study of the idea that
certain functions are controlled by differing parts of the brain. In order to explore this idea, Poe
used themes such as self destruction and madness in his poetry (Canada). Based on this premise,
Mark Canada explains that he believes Poe to have had a potent right cerebral hemisphere which
is believed to be the center of vivid imagery, music, emotions and self destructive urges; Poe was
consistently documented to have each of these traits. Poe is also well known for his lucid imagery,
lyric meter and tales of horror, depicted with rhyme and rank symbolism.
Certain poems contain repeating themes that best showcase the effect of the

The Medicine Bag, AndApache Girl s Rite Of Passage,
What are the steps to maturity? In the short story, The Medicine Bag , Martin, the main
character, and in the video, Apache Girl s Rite of Passage , Dachina, both have similarities and
differences in their traditions teaching them the significance of maturity. In addition, there are
advantages and disadvantages to either reading the text or watching the video. Initially, there
are many similarities that are valued in Martin s and Dachina s Native American traditions.
Mainly, both traditions are about the topic of life and how Martin and Dachina have to go
through a process in order to enter adulthood. Martin and Dachina learn how to become mature
by accepting to keep their cultures alive and willing to do the responsibilities that each of their
traditions provide. For example, the author in The Medicine Bag states, Thank you, Grandpa, I
said softly and left with the bag in my hands. That night Mom and Dad took Grandpa to the
hospital. Two weeks later I stood alone on the lonely prairie of the reservation and put the sacred
sage in my bag. This shows how Martin agreed to complete his duty of putting the sacred sage into
his medicine bag, making him responsible. Besides, Great Grandpa had a difficult journey, which
made Martin respect him and not put down the medicine bag. Similarly, Dachina didn t reject her
familys beliefs, since she completed the ritualand also didn t seem careless. Moreover, both
traditions are alike because they provided Martin and Dachina with

The Success And Success Of Sir Robert Gordon Menzies
Sir Robert Gordon Menzies was an Australian politician who served two terms as Prime Minister,
from 1939 to 1941, and, from 1949 until 1966. This amounts to a total of eighteen years, which is
a record for time serving as Australian prime minister (WEB). In this essay, I shall delineate and
analyse the secrets to Menzies success, which I attribute to several factors, many of which were
beyond the control of Menzies himself. Even before entering politics, Menzies developed talents
that would serve him well for political success. Namely, during his time studying and practising
law, Menzies developed a particularly strong oratorical ability which benefited him throughout his
career. Additionally, it is clear from his days as a student that Menzies... Show more content on

It was at this time that Murdoch once again threw his support and influence behind Menzies,
which can be seen in an article that he wrote for the Herald which was titled This persecution of

suffered by the UAP under Hughes leadership acted to further damage the reputation of Hughes
which saw Menzies regaining support from members of parliament, and Menzies once again

In an increasingly threatening environmental crisis, zoos are participating in the conservation of

by the disruption of ecosystems caused mainly by climate change and deforestation, and on the
other hand, by the globalization of trade, travel, transport, and tourism. These two factors are
increasingly reducing animals habitats and endangering many species(Keulartz 336). The evolution

conservation programs, participating in the preservation and restoration of endangered species, and

zoos be organized around a core mission that educates the public about the needs of the animals
and the threats they face. Also, zoos should treat animals humanely and provide care adapted to
their physical, social and psychological needs ( Zoos ). Finally, the ASPCA indicates zoos should
participate in tightly controlled breeding programs and their displays should stress the themes of
endangered species, wild habitat destruction and reduced biodiversity ( Position Statement on Zoos

on several factors with the intent to fill in their vast conservation function and thus work towards

  • 2. Kanner s Theory Of Autistic Children In the mid 1900s, psychiatrist Leo Kanner and a pediatrician Hans Asperger used the same word autism for a condition where children had deficits in socializing and forming contact. Stemming off the greek word autos meaning self, Kanner stated that autistic children had good cognitive potential yet they had islets of ability meaning their intelligence was focused in silos. There was an assumption that autistics were incapable of intelligence and were mentally disabled. Later, Laurent Mottron discredited the theories that autismis caused parents or refrigerator mothers and shed light on the fact that neurotypicals lack the abilities of autistic savants. The view of individuals with autism is skewed and as Amanda Baggs shows in her vivid video describing her behaviour, it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These prodigies, who had reached professional status at a very young age had varying theories of causation ranging from nurture to nature. The results indicated they had elevated level of intelligence, working memory and attention to detail. Interestingly, however, their family pedigrees showed an over representation of relatives with autism. This indicates a potential commonality between child prodigies and savants genetically leading to the conclusion that child prodigies possess a form of autism but suppress typical signs. In Carly s Voice , a book written by the father of an autistic child, the chapter From the Horse s Mouth is Carly s own words on her experience with autism. The challenge to understand autism comes from a lack of communication with autistic individuals but as Carly walks through her processing she explains her behaviours. The overstimulation that autistic individuals experience and the need for audio filtering, sorting out sensory information, helps tear down barriers of the view of what autistic individuals are capable of ... • 3. Eva Mouze Kor Research Paper Eva Mozes Kor On January 31st, 1934 Eva Mozes Kor and her twin sister, Miriam, were born in a small village in Portz, Romania. Alexander and Jaffa were Eva s parents who also gave birth to Eva s two other sisters, Edit and Aliz. Eva and Miriam both went to a one room school for their first 4 years of education (Candles Holocaust Museum). Eva Kor is a survivor and a phenomenal twin who endured all of Dr. Mengele s experiments and survived the horrors of Auschwitz. When Eva and her sister were six years old the village they had known was invaded by a Hungarian Nazi armed guard and from this point on they experienced horrific things that only little would survive. Mengele made a lot of sets of twins his guinea pigs and Eva and Miriam fell under that category. Someone once asked Eva, How did you feel while you were being used as a guinea pig by Josef Mengele? My answer is that the emotional scars were so deep that only now, more than 40 years later are we attempting to face our past that it will always hurt to remember that were reduced to the lowest form of existence. We were treated like animals we were his guinea pigs (Caplan). Right now in time during this camp all the twins had to keep their minds off of things, so they would knit. They used one of the twin s sweater and each person got a turn, after that one person was done they would unravel it and hand it to the next person. Just because they did this did not mean that danger and death could just drift away. One day one of the twin s mom passed in a cart all going to their resting place, and this scared Eva (Kor and Buccieri 47). Eva could not think about her family at this point it would distract her from taking care of herself and Miriam. After all this time Miriam was becoming sick because of all of the experiments done to her, and Eva wanted to take care of her so Eva could become stronger. Because they were twins, they were family, we did not let go. At Auschwitz dying was easy, surviving was a full time ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Downfall of Capitalism As the distinguished economist, John Maynard Keynes notes: Capitalism is the extraordinary belief that the nastiest of men, for the nastiest of motives, will somehow work for the benefit of all. At the core of the Robert Taylor homes is a functioning capitalist society. As in all capitalist societies, it is the role of the government to defend the economic interests of the faction that controls the means of production by suppressing anyone seen as a threat to its dominance. In the Robert Taylor homes, the Black Kings were the state that defended the means of production by suppressing any threat to their business through notion of hustling. Even though as a functioning capitalist society, the Robert Taylor homes were community plagued by severe destitution. The community suffered from many illegal activities in addition to the high rates of unemployment and welfare. Furthermore, the housing project was completely ignored by the municipal government. In this lawless environment, there was no independent police, and for many there was no steady income. The combination of these two elements increased the power gang, thus they were the enforcers. The people of the community had to compete amongst each other for resources. Those of the Robert Taylor community had to make the best use of what they had, and this is known as survival. What many come to understand, as hustling and other unethical activities, are known as survival to members of the Black Kings gang and the tenants ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Panic Disorder Research Paper Exploring Panic Disorder Everyone has experienced moments of severe anxiety and panic in their lives. Stressful situations can throw our minds into turmoil, causing extreme negative impacts on our bodies. However, there are people who suffer from moments like these far more often than the average person. These people also experience panic in situations that would not seem very stressful to others. This type of recurrent, extreme panic episode is called panic disorder, and it falls under anxiety disorders, a broader category of mental health issues. An article by McGrandles and Duffy (2012) describes characteristics of panic disorder as including recurrent panic attacks that occur suddenly and without warning. These can cause persistent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This should be the first action taken to attempt to control and treat the disorder. However, in more severe cases, this simple technique is not enough. Psychological therapy involved in treating panic disorder focuses on helping the patient modify behaviors and responses to situations that will ultimately reduce feelings of panic. These types of treatment can involve many sessions with a mental health professional in order to be successful. For example, McGrandles and Duffy (2012) state there is a large body of research supporting the use of cognitive behavioral therapy across the spectrum of anxiety disorders and psychological interventions such as CBT tend to be considered safer than drug treatments (p. 5). In the event that psychotherapy is not single handedly successful, pharmacological therapy can come into play. Certain medications can be taken by the patient to help reduce the severity and frequency of panic attacks. At present there are several different types of drugs which could be prescribed for the treatment of anxiety such as anti depressants, benzodiazepines and beta blockers (McGrandles Duffy, p. 6). In the event that medication therapy is used, psychological therapy should also continue to be used in conjunction. The patient and doctor must work together in order to determine the best ... • 6. St. Thomas Aquinas Arguments For The Existence Of God When contemplating the theories of ethics, one can expand upon the ideas of Utilitarian and Duty ethics using St. Thomas Aquinas arguments for the existence of God. The concept of Utilitarian ethics suggests that a moral act is one that brings about the most happiness. With this definition, one must conclude that there must be some optimal happiness or good. If there is a choice between levels of happiness then one must define the optimal happiness or the most good that could exist in order to judge the relative goodness of an act. Therefore there must be a maximum goodness or happiness which is the cause of all other means of happiness. This argument is one that corresponds with St. Thomas Aquinas proof of the existence of God. In his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Happiness is not the only key in determining the ethics of an act according to Kant and the theory of Duty ethics. In the article The Metaphysics of Morals, contained within the dialogue between the student and the teacher, Kant argues that one must balance happiness and reason. Happiness, being the ultimate or overall good or welfare of a being, must be rationalized by reason, being the measure of how worthy one is of this happiness. The observance of reason is then what Kant deems worthiness to happiness. Nevertheless, Kant also brings up an interesting point that humanity cannot always provide it selves with happiness, but that the circumstances of our lives are often out of our control. He then argues that the fact that there is some kind of order and wisdom in nature that is outside of our control points to the workings of a higher power. This argument again points to the fact that there must be some ultimate good or goal in which creation as a whole is designed. This argument parallels St. Thomas Aquinas fifth argument the Argument from Design begins with the fact that all natural bodies work toward some goal, and do not do so by choice. He then states that most natural things lack knowledge and things that lack knowledge, like an arrow for example, can achieve a goal by being directed from someone with ... • 7. David K. Shipler s A Sociological Study Sociologists observe the world to find a problem or an interesting pattern, then begin to study their findings. They use research methods to design a study, such as a detailed, scientific method for piloting research and obtaining data, or study an outline. The research method is the main step in a sociological study. The author David K. Shipler had an urge to reveal a hidden part of society, which was America s working poor in 1977. Shipler s goal was to let the hidden and forgotten part of society is known; which were employed workers that are still struggling to survive. He had confidence in letting people know about the large portion of American society is poor or struggling. Shipler devoted six years of his life to create particular stories about different people and situations throughout his book. Shipler use of research method was processed by interviewing eight different families about their inner lives. This method gave his readers visual of the invisible part of America society by taking his readers on a journey into the world of the working poor by presenting their struggles. He provides the reader with understanding of workplaces, homes, personal thoughts and feelings of the working poor. In each chapter, combines shared experiences and interviews, from different parts of the working poor such as legal and illegal immigrants working in America. • 8. Declaration Of Independence Persuasive Essay I couldn t happen, but notice the terrible disagreement you engaged in with your dearest lover Allie. The way you two were talking to each other and the words that were exchanged appeared to be a huge conflict. To begin, the first problem you seem to have is relationship dissolution. Relationship dissolution is the breaking or dissolving of the bonds that hold the relationship together. A huge reason behind this may be because you are very verbally abusive. When you called Allie names such as pain in the ass it did not help, but make the conflict worse. Instead of calling Allie names you should seek to engage in more productive communication such as, not using vulgar words or explaining the issue is a more appropriate manner. In addition,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Force is when you are act like you are in control and do not give the other person an alternate choice, but to choose your opinion. Allie needs time to think over her decision. Seemingly, as you are discussing the issue you are putting an exuberant amount force on Allie to choose you. This is very unfair because it takes away from what Allie wishes to do. As you are forcing your opinion on Allie, it takes away her ability to form an opinion on her own. This problem is seen through your conflict as you make statements such as, Would you just stay with me? or Well I hate you. If you leave here. I hate you . Each of these statements force Allie into wanting to stay with you instead of giving her space to make her own decision. A possible solution to this problem would be to use active listening. Active listening is requiring the listener to be fully concentrated and open to what the other individual is trying to communicate. While you are actively listening you must not make any judgements about what Allie is saying. Active listening will allow for you to hear Allie s opinion without adding your judgement in. Also, this solution will help Allie feel more appreciated and accepted by you. If you were able to fully listen to what Allie is saying, you most likely would avoid forcing your own opinion on ... During commercials, more fit white people with straight white teeth, doe eyes, and thin noses are advertising any product imaginable. These young children go to the store to pick from a variety and what they re met with has the variation of a bowl of cheerios. Barbies, for example: you can choose from 10 white dolls with big blue eyes, a waist the width of her neck, blonde hair, thin lips... or one black doll with the same eurocentric features only with darker skin and brown hair. These standards are set at a young age and follow women to their grave. The TV isn t the only place these expectations become clear; they re everywhere. In magazines, every model is below a size 2 unless specifically targeting plus sized women (it was recently determined that plus sized includes any womansize 8 or higher). In every advertisement, these women pop up so often promoting not only a product but an expectation on how to live in order to achieve the look deemed normal. Young women grow up believing that they need to be beautiful in order to be accepted. Only the catch is, the idea of beauty beat into their heads is an ideal impossible to achieve healthily and naturally by the majority of women. The perpetuation of Western beauty standards is an ideal that causes harm to young women, and especially young women of color. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Schlumberger s closest competitors are Halliburton and Baker Hughes. I remembered a former Colombian senator once said if these three companies vanished overnight, the world s energy system would start to break down in a couple of days. His point of view was settled to clarify how important these companies have become in the oil and gas sector and how strong they are in the oil chain. I also am absolutely convinced how well and fascinating it would be for someone to join one of these companies as a team member. They represent the kind of companies that also offer a permanent learning process in a friendly environment. Schlumberger is also noted in the petroleum industry for its decentralized management style and the autonomy the company extended to its field engineers. This is how you identify Medusahead. There are many ways to remove Medusahead. Technically speaking, chemicals are the best removal method. Herbicides are a good tool for managing Medusahead populations and often improve the success of other control methods such as tillage, burning, or re vegetation. Grazing is only somewhat effective because the animals don t always eat it and mechanical removal doesn t kill the roots. Controlled burn on the other hand, is very effective. It kills down to the roots, killing the entire plant. This proves why chemical removal is the best method. There are many interesting facts about Medusahead. One is that it creates a silica layer around itself preventing bugs from eating it. Medusahead often initially establishes itself on livestock, allowing it to easily disperse into the environment and grow in various locations. This is why it is common along trails and open fields. Because of its fuzzy tops, it is commonly mistaken for the Cattail plant. These are just a few of the many interesting facts about the Medusahead ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As empires rise and expand, it becomes necessary to create a legal code that standardizes punishment, institutes a form of common law, and protects society from arbitrary abuses of power. These principles were formally established relatively early in the western world, and became the foundations upon which later government institutions created their legal systems. The Code of Hammurabi, the Twelve Tables, and Magna Carta, all represent key moments in the evolution of legal thought and practice. Not only do they show the legal and political direction of the empires, but also the progression of their social values The Babylonian empire s success was due in large part to its powerful sixth king, Hammurabi who reigned from 1792 1750 B.C.E. At the age of twenty five he succeeded to the throne and devoted the first thirty years of his reign to wars of conquest. His military success meant that his empire now possessed a diverse population that was difficult to placate. To aid in unifying the empire and making punishments standard and universal, he issued the Code of Hammurabi. In three hundred clauses, Hammurabi established the rudiments of common law. Chemical structure and functional groups Simvastatin is one of the statins derivatives that is synthesised from a fermentation product of Aspergillus terreus. Homeostasis is the process of balancing or keeping a stable internal environment in the body. Once they have been secreted together they form an osmotic equivalent of water so by the time they reach the end of the proximal tubule about two thirds of these fluid have been reabsorbed. The loop of Henle is linked with maintaining that osmotic gradient in the renal medulla. This is achieved by sodium chloride being transported from the tubular fluid ( the interstitium) without changing the osmotic uptake of the water. The osmolality of the water leaving the tube of Henle is lower than the plasma, whilst the interstitium is higher. According to the requirements of the body the distal tubule adjusts the ionic balance of the body by changing the amount of sodium and other substances that are reabsorbed back into the body. It is also responsible for the secretion of hydrogen ions, which leads to the acidification of the urine, because of this, this urine that leaves the distal tubule is dilute. If the osmolality of the urine is relatively high when it passes through the collecting ducts, water is absorbed under the influence of antidiuretic hormone (ADH) and the urine that is concentrated is excreted. From human development to drug abuse, psychologists strive to understand behavior and apply their findings. One such area that begets curiosity and research is the cognitive process that is memory. Memory is one of the most precious and crucial components of a person. Experiences shape a personality and create a person. Memories in the form of a witness s testimony have the power to jail someone for life. However, are these memories reliable? The biological perspective in psychologyis the study of the brain, genetics, hormones, and neurotransmitters and how these factors influence behavior. With respect to the biological level of analysis, the three principles that are encouraged are as follows: the use of animals in research is encouraged, behavior can be innate because it is genetically based, and there are biological correlates of behavior. When evaluating the reliability of memory, one can take a biological approach, using the principles to design an experiment that would successfully investigate the biological correlates of the cognitive process. Martinez and Kesner is an example of such an experiment. The purpose of this experiment was to determine the role of acetylcholine on memory. But an unusual, and equally controversial, solution came not within the restraining bounds of the country borders, but from the efforts of the American multi millionaire and philanthropic conservationist, Douglas Tompkins. His character is completely detached from the purity that was once within him and commits atrocities without remorse or question. It is evident in Paradise Regained that Milton has completely reconstructed Satan in such a malicious manner that there leaves no room for question whether Satan is a bad or evil. Satan is presented as nothing other than pure evil. His speeches are no longer alluring and infectious instead they reek with toxic flow. He is no longer apologetic for his rebellion and his respect for the position on God represented in Book 1 of Paradise Regained has diminished: Yet to that hideous place not so confined By rigour unconniving, but that oft Leaving my dolorous prison I enjoy Large liberty to round this globe of earth, Or range in the air, nor from the heaven of heavens Hath he ... (Merriam Webster) Most people will tell you that no one can change the way they view themselves, and that their self confidence is high. Most of those people have not experienced someone close to them or significant speaking or treating them negatively and making them feel less than or unsure of themselves. Usually the person that can make you feel the most selfconscious are those that are close to you, but others are more than capable to doing so as well. Those people will say and do little subtle things that will make you second guess your abilities or how you look or carry yourself. Sometimes it is just one comment or a series of comments that lead up to the feelings up uncertainty and extreme self consciousness of the things that would once go unnoticed. The comments start off small, and you try to ignore them, or people may act a certain way towards you to make you feel uncomfortable. The worst experience I have ever had is when I was met with the negative opinions of someone I was madly in love with. Just because they say that they love you does not mean that they will not say or do things that will hurt you or make you feel self conscious.
