Aristophanes Voices Concerns for Ancient Greek Culture in...
Aristophanes was not a proponent of the majority of Athenian culture, as well as other aspects of
Greek life as whole. He despised the political, educational, and societal views that remained persistent
throughout Athens. While his plays may be comedies, he uses them in an assortment of ways. His
plays are used to demonstrate a purpose far beyond that of entertainment. He uses his writing for
voicing the problems that lie in Ancient culture.
Aristophanes uses each play to reveal certain issues that he felt should have been dealt with. His plays
featured satire, farces, and even comical dialogue. His plays were written with clarity and were quite
lyrical. Using plays as vessels for opinion is defined best by saying that The ... Show more content on

He creates a private and individual peace treaty with the Spartans, and he finally receives his peace.
His land and his home become war free (The Acharnians, lines 195 204).
The Acharnians were appalled that Dikaiopolis had signed a peace treaty. They form a mob and head
to his home. There, they insult him and they threaten his life. But the whole time this is going on,
Dikaiopolis is mocking them. He is insulting them because of how foolish they really are. Dikaiopolis
doesn t understand why they want to fight so much.
He takes every opportunity to advocate their stupidity by comically refuting their actions toward him
and his family. Dikaiopolis says, Comedy too can sometimes discern what is right. I shall not please,
but I shall say what is true, (The Acharnians, lines 500 501). He means that he is going to say
whatever he feels is right, and in the end, no matter what actions the Acharnians take, there isn t
anything they can do to stop him from laughing at what they do.
Aristophanes uses Dikaiopolis as an agent of conveyance. The Peloponnesian War had devastated the
Greek world in the 5th century (Perry, pg. 70), and this play was written to solidify Aristophanes
agreement with this statement. By choosing the Acharnians for this play, he chose a people that the
Athenians could relate to; a beaten down group of individuals whose only hopes of regaining pride
rested in their efforts to win the war.
When this play was written, the Peloponnesian War

Importance Of Writing On Communication
Conversational Writing Today, technology is continuously advancing. Computers, cell phones, and
tablets are becoming lighter, faster, and more accessible. As we now have access to many more
communicative devices, our rate of communication with others has greatly increased. But, the ways of
conversing are changing. In the past, conversation was the exchange of ideas, sentiments,
observations, and findings through face to face interactions. Now, conversation happens through texts,
emails, and even social media. As the method of conversation has changed, has the way in which we
engage others remained the same? As our exposure to writing with technology advances, it is
important to fully comprehend the ways in which we enter writing through a conversational lense
rather than just an individual activity. As students, writing typically carries a different and old way of
communication. Many times, students are taught how to synthesize other s work in a formal tone. In
doing so, students enter into a conversation. As they attempt to enter into this conversation through
writing, what should they expect to gain? Writers should have a specific goal and motive in order to
engage a targeted audience. Margaret Kantz, a famous author explains the importance of developing
creativity from textual sources. In fact, Kantz states that writers should have a goal of saying
something new (Kantz, 436). In doing so, writers should attempt to enter into a conversation with the
intent to leave

The Book The Ghost Writer
In the book The Ghost Writer, the story is centered around Nathan Zuckerman, who struggles with
whether his Jewish identity should affect how his story about Jewish people is interpreted. As a result,
Roth presents a series of characters that have jewish related backgrounds, including E. I. Lonoff, Amy
Bellette who resembles Anne Frank, for Nathan to observe and learn from. However, there is Hope,
the wife of Lonoff, who seems to have none of the things Nathan needs; she is not jewish, neither a
writer, but only a determined and thoughtful woman who prefer depth over boredom in life. Philip
Roth chooses to include her in the novel to present that even without the context of identity, being a
pure artist is dangerous to oneself and the surrounding love ones. With the huge success of E. I.
Lonoff on professional career and his bad temper on personal life, one would expect his wife to be
only a subsequent character who serves the purpose of supporting him. Such conclusion can be made
when looking at Hope s language when interacting with Nathan in front of Lonoff. Under normal
relationships between a couple, one should not need to explain another to their guests to make the
guests feel more respected. However, when Lonoff is directing Nathan on the subject of apology,
Hope feels the necessity of her interrupting the conversation, to explain and emphasize Lonoff s good
intentions behind the imperative voice and the superiority feelings (39) of him. In this situation, the

A Very Racist Remark that Struck a Chord
Although, The United States outlawed slavery 149 years ago and The Civil Rights Act of 1964 was
signed into law 50 years ago. There is still a perception that African American individuals are still
beneath Caucasian individuals, for some ignorant individuals. That perception was an issue that
reignited April 25, 2014 at 10:00 PM when the celebrity gossip publication TMZ posted on their
website a leaked tape of Los Angeles Clippers owner, Donald Sterling telling his girlfriend he does not
want her to bring black people to his games, including Magic Johnson.
The incident began when his girlfriend, V. Stiviano, posted an unassuming picture of she and Magic
Johnson on Instagram. After posting the picture, Sterling began to receive messages from other
individuals about V. posting a picture with Magic Johnson and Sterling became upset that V. posted
the picture on social media for the public to see. According to TMZ on the tape he is heard saying,
It bothers me a lot that you want to broadcast that you re associating with black people. Do you have
to? (3:30) You can sleep with [black people]. You can bring them in, you can do whatever you want.
The little I ask you is not to promote it on that ... and not to bring them to my games. (5:15) I m just

Risk Analysis Of Risk Analysis And Management
1.
Risk analysis and management
One of the key segments of applying administrative safeguards to ensure or protect the association s
health care records or data is known as risk analysis. It is difficult to set up a successful risk
management program if the association doesn t know about the dangers or risks that exist. Risk
analysis is generally new to medical field. Couple of associations/ organization implemented formal
security hazard/risk assessment before the HIPAA rules publication. This is not enough to prevent the
risks in health care. So, health care has to adapt risk assessment processes similarly like other
industries
Eight steps for risk analysis process
Eight steps for risk analysis process explained by Steve Weil (2004)
1. Boundary definition The organization or association should build up a detailed inventory of all
health care data and data frameworks. This audit can be directed utilizing interviews, examinations,
surveys, or different means. The essential thing in this step is to recognize all the patient particular
medical record data, Medical information systems (both inner and outer), and clients of the data and
health care information system.
2. Threat identification Distinguishing risk will bring about a list of every single potential risk to the
association s medicinal services information systems. The three general sorts of risk are
a. Natural, for example, surges and flames
b. Human, this can be deliberate or accidental
c. Environmental, for

BAYESIAN LEARNING
Abstract
Uncertainty has presented a difficult obstacle in artificial intelligence. Bayesian learning outlines a
mathematically solid method for dealing with uncertainty based upon Bayes Theorem. The theory
establishes a means for calculating the probability an event will occur in the future given some
evidence based upon prior occurrences of the event and the posterior probability that the evidence will
predict the event. Its use in artificial intelligence has been met with success in a number of research
areas and applications including the development of cognitive models and neural networks. At the
same time, the theory has been criticized for being philosophically unrealistic and logistically
inefficient. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They allow intelligent systems flexibility and a logical way to update their database of knowledge.
The appeal of probability theories in AI lies in the way they express the qualitative relationship among
beliefs and can process these relationships to draw conclusions (Pearl, 1988).
One of the most formalized probabilistic theories used in AI relates to Bayes theorem. Bayesian
methods have been used for a variety of AI applications across many disciplines including cognitive
modeling, medical diagnosis, learning causal networks, and finance.
Two years after his death, in 1763, Rev. Thomas Bayes Essay Toward solving a Problem in the
Doctrine of Chances was published. Bayes is regarded as the first to use probability inductively and
established a mathematical basis for probability inference which he outlined in this now famous paper.
The idea behind Bayes method is simple; the probability that an event will occur in future trials can be
calculated from the frequency with which it has occurred in prior trails. Let s consider some everyday
knowledge to outline Bayes rule: where there s smoke, there s fire. We use this everyday cliche to
suggest cause and effect. But how are such relationships learned in and from everyday experience?
Conditional probability provides a way to estimate the likelihood of some outcome given a particular
situation. Bayes theorem further refines this idea by incorporating

While writing my profile essay on University of Montana International Student Association to
discover the challenges, international students face when they moved away thousands of miles from
their home country to study here at the University of Montana. Many face challenges from social
(unfamiliar living circumstances), academic (learning style) to cultural (language, culture and personal
barriers) issues. Some students adapt easily to life here in Missoula while others experience
difficulties. I began to wonder if these problems faced by international students here at the University

international students face when they study here in the US. Follow by why students from different
regions (Asia, Africa, Europe, South America, Australia etc.) adapt to US culture differently. Lastly I
will look into why International students mostly associated with other international students instead of
associating with American students.
In most college and university here in the US, your courses will most likely be graded in many ways
such as in a test, class participation and writing papers. For students that are not used to these

undertaking these assessment. For example students like Vuk Bojovic from Serbia studying in Illinois
wrote When I first came here, I had a problem with research papers, as I have never wrote them in
high school in Serbia, I was not familiar with the structure of a paper as well as academic resources
and citations. It took me a whole term to work both on my own and with people in the Reading
Writing Center to get a good grade on a paper. (3).

Lott cut his finger off so that he could complete his sport season successfully.
The super Bowl is an American sports event i.e. enjoyed the most byamerican people. American Super
Bowl sometimes becomes very dangerous for players as it involves greater chances of accidents. In
the year 1998, Terrell Davis a player from Denver Broncos, got injured and fainted in the field while
carrying the Super Bowl in his hand (Walker 72). This incident led to several complications and the
player finally recovered completely after a good amount of time.
A similar accidental case occurred in the soccer field and famous sportsman Anthony Van Loo fainted
in the field because of his pre existing heart condition. Anthony experienced the devastating moment
in his life and he could not continue with his football career further due to the incident.
These three incidents of sports illustrates that injuries can be unpleasant in any sports given and
athletes have great amount of risks while they continue their game in the field, in order to amuse their
viewers (Bird 91). Apart from the examples mentioned above, there are several small and large
accidents that have occurred in the past and they have made the life of sportsmen bitter and even their
future uncertain, with respect to their ability to work.

Good morning year twelve English and Mrs Broadway,
Our cohort is nearing the end of its secondary education and therefore it is important that we reflect on
the ways in which it has shaped our attitudes values and beliefs. For example, over the past five years
we have read, analysed and evaluated various literary works (novels, plays, films etc) in our English
studies. These texts express various ideologies, some of which have left a lasting impression on our
attitudes, values and beliefs. In addition to this, English literary texts have provided us with historical

The resettlement of refugees in Australia is a controversial topic; many people believe that they come
here to commit crime, change our culture and steal our jobs. The Happiest Refugee has enhanced my
belief that refugees should be allowed to live in Australia. I believe that refugees are here to escape
war and persecution; they are not criminals, nor do they want to change our culture or steal our jobs.
Refugees are generally grateful for their new lives in Australia and they embrace our culture. The
Happiest Refugee is a source of evidence that supports this.
The Happiest Refugee discusses various concepts including the effects of war, the trauma that
refugees experience, their desire to contribute to society and our negative attitudes towards them. The
second Indochina war occurred because the communist state of North Vietnam wanted political
control over South Vietnam. Between 1955 and 1973, the USA was involved in South Vietnam s
defensive effort. In 1973 however, the US army left because too much money was being invested into
the war and defensive attempts proved futile. As a result, South Vietnam was left completely
defenceless. After the war, South Vietnamese soldiers and their families were captured by the North
Vietnamese communists and held in labour camps. Some of these prisoners were eventually released
(after 1976), however, they

Hazing Should Be Allowed In College
Hazing can be defined as the humiliation and dangerous activities that teenagers encounter when
joining a fraternity or sorority in college. Over the years, these rituals can be extremely threatening for
college students; for instance being tied up for twenty four hours or even playing intense drinking
games. When being in a frat house, teens get to experience living college to the fullest and having the
opportunity to pledge for whichever fraternity one would please on doing. All over the world, from
different colleges, these teens have to go through this just to be a part of Greek Life. Is it worth it?

The first ever fraternity house was discovered by five students on December 5th, 1776 at the college
of William and Mary. The name of the fraternity was then associated as Phi Beta Kappa which means

would go to all of the fraternities houses and meet all the people in that specific fraternity and get to
know one another to see if he fits in well. This step of the fraternity process is called rush season.
Furthermore, people who belong to a fraternity are known as brothers. These brothers are the ones who
have the massive parties in college. Thus, if the brothers decide that if they see a person who wants to
join or has the potential, that person will begin to pledge for that fraternity. When pledging for that

weeks or even months. As the teen begins to pledge, the person has to show loyalty and

Factors Affecting Population Growth
According to the book, there are three main factors that influence population growth. The first factor
the book addresses is childhood mortality. Childhood mortality refers to the amount of children who
die before age five. According to a website called ourworldindata.com, the child mortality rate in 2015
was around 4.3 percent. Childhood mortality can impact population growth because if the mortality
rate is high, the amount of childhood deaths would cause less population growth. A decrease in
childhood mortality could cause families to have smaller families since there is a higher likelihood of
their children surviving. Education is the second factor that impacts population growth. According to
the book, people who are educated tend to wait to have children or get married due to their occupation
or due to them working towards their occupation. This can impact population growth by reducing the
number of children a women has due to her getting married older, having children when she is older,
and dedicating time to work and children. Women who live in uneducated areas tend to marry and
have children around their teens, increases the population yet also increasing poverty and lack of
hygiene. The third and last factor is the lack of access to contraceptives. According to the book,
contraceptives tend to decrease the amount of children a women has, allows more women to have
children who survive the birthing process, and reduces the amount of women who die in childbirth.

Walking the halls at school was an overall awkward situation as I attended a predominantly white
private school. It was not uncommon for my peers to make jests and snide comments about the oddity

siblings as I explained that my new boyfriend was not white. While my family was accepting of the
news, I was warned to not mention my new relationship to my grandfather who would not be quite as
understanding as he would only be blinded by his outdated and old fashioned state of mind. Meeting
my boyfriend s parents for the first time was unnerving to say the least. I felt like an exhibit at a
museum, being observed and analyzed by a group of people who no doubt had already made their own
assumptions of my character. I could see from the skeptical look in their eyes that I was nothing more
than a vapid and privileged white girl to them. All of these outward opposing forces undoubtedly
created friction within the relationship. I found myself questioning if our racial differences were

faced. A few short months later, we called it quits, although not entirely due to the racial

Rhetorical Analysis Of John LeoWhen Life Imitates Video
Rhetorical analysis of John Leo essay When life imitates Video.
The Writer of When life imitates Video , John Leo has tried to persuade his readers the reason why
violent video games have negative impact on children s character. The first main goal of his article is
to show the relationship between playing murderous games and violent actions. His second main goal
is to make emotional appeal to parents the need to monitor their child from exposure of graphic
violent medias. Most of his argument comes from his personal believe otherwise not supported by any
evidence except making emotional(pathos) and logical(logos) appeal by trying to associate violence
occurred in the Colorado with violent video games. To further strengthen his argument, he cited the
Los Angles Times which describe the characters children display while watching morbid video games
and he tried to link the aggressive behavior modeled in the game and violent character. He assume the
whole society as his audience. As he stated it, we are now a society in which the form of play for
millions of youngsters is making a large number of people die .He succeeded in writing and
informative and an emotionally appealing article with a potential of convincing his audience against
violent video games. Leo on his writing has tried to persuade readers without putting concrete facts to
convince his readers. Most of his argument is based on personal belief. He have stated some violence s
which was inflicted by teenagers, which he believes, are caused by video games. The audiences
limitation include basic knowledge of video games since his audience include all walks of the society.
He has tried to convey his main passage to his audience with pathos if we want to avoid more littleton

to their children. Ethos directed toward parents. However, his appeal is not supported by facts with

The Admittance of Mistakes in The Scarlet Letter and The Other Wes Moore
On May 17, 2017, a man named Arthur got into a fight with his boyfriend who later decided to press
charges. If he pleaded guilty during the first trial, Arthur would get three years of probation with a
criminal record, but he could keep his jobs. If he pleaded not guilty, he would receive 30 days in jail
before the second trial, but he would likely lose his jobs (Ralphling 1). While this is a terrible situation
for Arthur, it s difficult to feel the how his decision would affect all involved without a deeper
understanding of their points of view. Given equally difficult opportunities to admit their mistakes and
choices, the protagonists from The Scarlet Letter and The Other Wes Moore endured long periods of
internal conflict as they struggled to correct or accept the mistakes that were direct consequences of
their actions. The calculated use of diction and tone by both authors allowed the theme of these novels
to actually feel real compared to Arthur s case. The theme acceptance of mistakes is carefully crafted
in each novel through the strong usage of diction and tone.
The use of early American diction in The Scarlet Letter and urban slang in The Other Wes Moore help
to develop the emotional gravity of both books as they wrestle with the theme of acceptance of
mistakes. During a prison visit in The Other Wes Moore, the two boys named Wes discuss how
making mistakes can affect a person. The

What Is The Persistence Of Memory Distinctively Visual
Throughout history, artists have endeavored to convey emotion, meaning and complexity within a
single still image. Salvador Dali, Vincent Van Gogh and Roy Lichtenstein illustrate the embodiment of
the human experience within a realm of artistic expression. Each respective artist exemplifies the
power of an image to produce a statement regarding the unconscious mind, mental anguish, and the
banality of industrial culture. Ultimately, they evoke a poignant story within a simple picture. The
Persistence of Memory by Salvador Dali is universally regarded as an emblem of the Surrealist
movement. However, the meaning of its aesthetic construction is mystifying. The painting features
four clocks draped in a barren desert. The clocks are disproportionately bent and appear to be melting
into the landscape of the painting. Additionally, there is no indication of human life. The juxtaposition
of this painting is eccentric and indiscriminate. It depicts the assemblage of unrelated items. Thus, it
represents the landscape of the psyche when it is engaged in the act of dreaming. The melting clocks
personify the manner in which time capriciously melts away as an individual dreams. Furthermore, the
psyche cannot measure time when it is engaged in the act of dreaming. In the dream world, the clock
does not possess the power to act ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Humanity acknowledges the presence of the unconscious mind. However, they are not cognizant of its
attributes. Like the barren and infertile desert in The Persistence of Memory, the unconscious mind is
barren to the eyes of the waking mind. Dali also exemplifies the process of a dream fading from the
memory of the conscious mind. He illustrates this concept through the formation of a dehydrated tree.
The tree does not contain leaves. Rather, it is sapped of this essential trait. This symbolizes that the

India a Global Economic Super Power
INDIAA GLOBAL ECONOMIC SUPER POWER
New parts of the world that were not long ago considered undeveloped, backwater countries, are now
taking center stage in the global economy. Much has been publicized about the ascendance of China s
economy, as it has become a major venue for the manufacturing of products sought after by worldwide
consumers eager for cheaper goods. However, China s Asian neighbor, India, also has a vigorously
growing economy. India s economy is partly being fueled by companies around the world seeking to
reduce their costs by outsourcing some of their operations there.
A March 9, 2005 article in the International Herald Tribune reported that within 30 years, India is
projected to have the world s third largest economy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Business Process Outsourcing, or BPO, involves more routine processing of data. Ravi Aron,
Professor of operations and information management at the University of Pennsylvania s Wharton
School, said examples of BPO involve more routine functions where there is a predefined way of
doing tasks or even reaching conclusions, as in data entry, accounts maintenance and customer service
activities such as those performed at call centers. BPOs typically provide such services as setting up
bank accounts, selling an insurance policy and voice and e mail based computer support. Aggarwal
said that a higher Level of service than BPO is called Knowledge Process Outsourcing or KPO. KPO
involves high end processes such as investment research and Legal and insurance claims processing.
In a March 21, 2005 article in the Indiatimes News Network, Pavan Bagai, Vice President, strategic
businesses, EXL said, Imagine unsorted data going through a black box and coming out as useful
information. In KPOs the black box is your mind. There is no predefined process to reach a
conclusion.
In either BPO or KPO, India often offers a huge cost savings potential over those functions being
performed by American workers in the U.S. Aron said that in credit card related functions, the cost of

Essay On A Rose For Emily Grierson
In William Faulkner s short story A Rose for Emily, Faulkner uses¬ the normality of tradition versus
change that is destined to occur, along with the power of death. Through the enigmatic figure of Emily
Grierson, Faulkner conveys that Emily struggles to come to terms with death, rather than accepting it
she tries to overrule it. As a living testament to the past, she serves as the traditions from past decades
that people wish to respect and honor; nonetheless, she is also a burden and entirely disconnected from
the outside world as she sees it. Within these struggles that we see our main character go through we
see a tremendous significance with Emily s home, the rose, and of course the strand of hair. Faulkner
demonstrates theme and symbolism to fully capture the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Miss Emily Grierson died (33). Emily lives in an abiding world of her world sticking to what
works for her. Rather than go out and experience the new innovations throughout her town she refuses
to simply let it go. More specifically, Emily Grierson has been a traditionalist, a duty, and a care; a sort
of hereditary obligation upon the town (33). The importance of tradition was very important to Emily,
due to the fact that she simply could not accept change. For instance there was a scene in which the
whole town had gotten there mail boxes up to date with brand new numbers affixed to the side of their
house. Emily refused all of it. The past is not a vague shimmer but more of an ideal reality. Emily s
frightening bridal chamber is an intense attempt to stop time and to simply stop change, although this
comes at the expense of another human beings life. Death hangs over A Rose for Emily, from the very
beginning Faulkner s mention of Emily s death through these descriptions of modern changes
occurring within her society. In every case, death prevails and always out beats over every other

Women In The Prefect
Instead of attributing their close relationship to possible eroticism, their companions, such as the
Prefect, seem perfectly willing to consider them as an investigative duo. As the Prefect enters their
domain, for example, Dupin stands to turn on a lamp as he and the narrator had been sitting in the
dark, but doesn t do so because the Prefect insists they get right into the discussion at hand (The
Purloined Poe 7). The mere fact that they re reading in near darkness seems contradictory as, one
might assume, light aids readers, but it becomes less strange once one considers the possibility that the
two men have simply wasted the day away in each other s company. The Prefect, as demonstrated,
does not make this connection. He then fails to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While their bachelor status allows them leeway in their expression of sexuality and their non
restriction to heterosexual, familial life, the aforementioned relationships both take advantage of
women in order to further establish and even deepen instances of male homosociality. Between the
narrator and Dupin, for instance, bonding tends to occur around their investigations. Their
investigations, coincidentally, revolve around the bodies of dead, discredited, or disempowered
women (Between Men 137). Both The Murders in the Rue Morgue and The Mystery of Marie Rôget
involve bodies of dead women that coincidentally have no place in discussions farther along the text.
Thus, Dupin and the narrator can discuss women without having to engage with them, whether such
engagements would have been romantic or otherwise. While no dead women are present in The
Purloined Letter, a disempowered woman is certainly present, being the victim of the text s driving
conflict. While the entirety of the text hinges on such theft, the victim of the crime is barely
mentioned, nevertheless never physically present (Derrick 72). Because bachelorhood precludes
intimate relations with women, the routing of homosocial desire through the disempowerment of
women works within the framework of all three of Poe s short

How Marriage Has Changed For Persian Women
Shadi has been longing to separate from her husband, she is only allowed to do so on the grounds of
being a victim of domestic violence or is despising living with a drug addict. These don t apply to her
however, and since her migration to Australia she has learned that it s okay to fall out of love with
someone and still have a reasonable excuse to separate. Closely linking in with beauty and power and
gender equality, my topic also aims to evaluate how marriage has changed for Persian women as a
result of migration to Australia.
Marriage celebrated in the Persian culture ceremonial wise, as well as its values has been proven to be
different to the western ideals of marriage in its traditional sense. For a questionnaire response,
participants were asked if the tradition, concept and values of marriage were changing for the Persian
women who migrate to Australia. 69 of the 81 (85.18%) respondents believed so and the remaining
argued against.

both qualitative and quantitative data. Majority of the responders, regardless of their cultural
background responded yes , sitting in at a total of 85.18 % meanwhile the minority answering no

The Function Of The Hair Follicle Stem Cells
An adult stem cell s niche is responsible for the preservation of the stem cell s undifferentiated state
through either intrinsic or extrinsic expression of specific proteins. Hair follicle stem cells are
responsible for not only its self renewal but also in the production of rapidly multiplying cells. The
stem cells of the hair follicle are for temporary increase in cells, and are created by the differentiation
of hair follicle stem cells. The focus of this essay will be to analyze a specific protein within the hair
follicle stem cell BMP, bone morphogenetic proteins. Through intrinsic expression, Bone
morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) are able to function in multi levels and are in charge for the
transforming growth factor beta (TGFbeta). These proteins are crucial for the maintenance and the
proliferation of hair follicle stem cells. Bone morphogentic proteins have the ability to affect other
molecules that are part of the niche, which boosts or limits particular cellular functions to the needs of
the human body and niche. This paper will discuss two experiments conducted that exhibit the
function of BMP. One experiment will examine the results of BMP deletion in genetically modified
dermal papilla cells patched onto mice that had no hair. The second scientific experiment will
demonstrate the effects of excess and limited quantities of BMP expression in vitro on isolated chick
otic vesicles. From these experiments scientists can foresee the future in developing various

Essay on A Handful of Optimism
A Handful of Optimism
Despite race, religion, sex, or age the world can be divided into two different groups. Those who see
the glass as being half full and those who see the glass as being half empty. In other words, being
either that of an optimist or a pessimist. Though a simple question, often times people find it difficult
to answer. Just when one thinks they have decided that they are one or the other, they come across a
song, poem, or an experience that makes them reevaluate the mind frame from that which they have
normally embraced. T. S. Eliot s famous quote from The Waste Land, I can show you fear in a handful
of dust, is one that has been the trigger, for many, in this self evaluation process (1.30)

For many Christians it is a verse found in the Bible that changed their fear of death to one of an
acceptance of death. For God so love the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever
believes in him shall not parish perish but have eternal life. John 3:16. The belief of having eternal life
is what keeps the fear of death at bay. Not only do Christians beliefs promote optimism, but they
encourage others to seek a similar level of self realization.
Nevertheless, some people are unaware and apathetic to the endless possibilities that life holds. It is a
woman in Eliot s poem that conveys the image of a person who is living, yet fails to see the richness
in her life. It is after the departure of her lover that she states, Well now that s done: and I m glad it s
over (3.252). Most would be overcome with joy and contentment at having just completed, what is
thought to be, one of the most intimate and cherished part of ones life. Not only does she respond to
this occasion with rigidness, in her previous comment, but Eliot proceeds to say that She smoothes her
hair with an automatic hand (3.255). Thus implicating the meaninglessness and emptiness of her life.
Not only does Eliot portray the pessimism with this woman but does so in a broader sense when he
writes:
Son of man, You cannot say, or guess, for you know only A heap of broken

A child with no imagination is like an Earth without wildlife. Cold, boring, and desolate. Dickens
cleverly names the three sub books in Hard Times Sowing, Reaping, and Garnering. As Galatians 6:7

Dickens alludes to the bible and general farming terms in the titles of the three books to condemn the

Bill Cosby Medal Of Freedom Analysis
Some people are requesting the US government to revoke Bill Cosby s Medal of Freedom, after more
details have emerged in the rape allegations against the comedian. On Wednesday (July 15th),
President Obama addressed those seeking the revocation of Cosby s medal. There s no precedent for
revoking a medal. We don t have that mechanism, the President answered. While most people may
have expected President Obama to end his statement with that answer, he instead commented on what
he defines as rape. If you give a woman or a man, for that matter, without his or her knowledge, a drug
and then have sex with that person without consent, that s rape. This country, and civilized country,
should have no tolerance for rape, President Obama stated. Even though Cosby continues to deny the
rape allegations, an old deposition has surfaced and it now appears the rape accusations made by
countless women are true. During the deposition, Cosby admitted he had prescriptions for quaaludes
(a sedative), and he testified under oath that he gave a woman the sedative. Cosby was then asked if he

Essay On 12 Ways Spoonies Cope With Chronic Illness
12 Ways Spoonies Cope With the Stress of Chronic Illness
As I ve mentioned in earlier posts, Instagram has become an absolute treasure trove of practical
information for people living with chronic illness. Here are 12 ways spoonies just like you cope with
the stress of living with an invisible illness while having fun at the same time!
Being Stubborn
When living with a chronic illness, stubbornness can be both your best and your worst asset. On the
one hand, you re incredibly determined to not let your condition get the best of you, on the other, you
tend to overdo it.
Still, being tenacious and having a fighting spirit is one of the most effective ways to cope with the
stress of chronic illness.

Using Social Media
Connecting with others who understand exactly what you re going through can be a life saver. There is
a very large and accepting group of people on social media websites like Facebook, Twitter, and
Instagram who continually support each other and help ease the burden of daily pain.
Look for hashtags such as, #spoonie, #chronicillness, #chronicpain, and #chroniclife.
Watching Mindless Movies
Distracting yourself from your pain can be a very healthy way to cope with the stress of living with a
chronic illness.
Watching a movie you don t have to pay attention to, means you have two socially acceptable hours to
stare at one fixed object, let your mind wander, and relax.
(Alternatively, you can get lost in the ridiculous plot and forget your troubles for a while.)
Napping Like It s Your Job
I don t know about you, but napping is, by far, my favorite way to cope with my fatigue, anxiety, and
feelings of overwhelm. When things get to be too much, I slip in my earbuds, turn on some soothing
music, recline in my chair, and take a nap.
Sleeping, like crying, is not a sign of weakness or laziness. It s simple self care, and it s important to
engage in it regularly.
Setting and Accomplishing Small Goals
Another piece of useful advice I got from a fellow spoonie is setting small goals.

Contrast of presidential *campaign positions of McCain and Obama. From year to year, presidential
elections face many controversial problems that involve candidates personality and ideas, and they
have a great influence on voters decisions. Many journalists and politicians express their feelings
about upcoming presidential elections in provocative articles, revealing accomplishments of one and
limitations of another, but the only right way to find out who our candidates are, and what are their
real intentions, is to let them turn their ideas into life. Just remember the words of President George

increases in his economic issues section; probably he has it in his official plan and there is no secret
about it, but still, can we accuse him of not telling the whole truth? It is pretty clear that an average
voter never reads official plans, and he will never know about tax increases if somebody like Mr.
McCain, for example, will not reveal it for public. It would be foolish to assume that an excuse might
be that elections are in 2009, and plans for 2011 can be reported in 2011, as candidates should inform
their voters about all plans during their presidential term. Not less important question in economic
development is trading policy and employment. Both candidates have a variety of valuable ideas about
this issue. John McCain stresses his attention on lowering barriers to trade; he will engage in

Pros And Cons Of For-Profit Universities
There are many individuals who believe, that for profit universities and colleges pose a significant
threat to American higher education, and that they should be banned, I also agree with this outlook on
for profit universities. According to Sheffield s article, For profit schools enable low income and racial
minority students, including many who are non traditional, to gain practical, skills based training that
better equips them for the marketplace relative to many traditional academic paths. For profit colleges
and universities differ from non profit colleges and universities because they can be completed in a
shorter amount of time. The training at these schools is typically focused on only vocational skills, i.e.
business and office, technical education and within the trade industry. For profit colleges can be seen
in many different forms, there are online schools such as the University of Phoenix, technical schools,
culinary schools, and etc. For profit schools are profit seeking schools, the price is high and some may
say that the cost of the tuition is not always going to the students. For profit universities also come
with big opinions for and against them. For profit colleges tend to be looked down upon because of
the price tag that comes along with them. For profit universities are incredibly expensive and tuition
dollars typically do not go towards the students. These colleges survive on their marketing strategies,

It is basically an outline of how we should behave in a society and culture. These guidelines are how
you should be living your day to day lives. The Maurya and Gupta empire, at one time had a very

Nature And Evil In Grendel, By John Gardner
According to the Shaper, Grendel was the dark side...in effect. The terrible race God cursed (51). From
his very upbringing, Grendel was cursed, set apart from the rest of nature. This isolation became
evident throughout the novel as it seemed both humans and nature were against him. In the novel
Grendel by John Gardner, the theme of nature fighting what is unnatural is supported by the motifs of
animals, snakes, and trees. The prevalence of nature s clash with that which is unnatural is evident in
the reoccurring images of animals throughout the novel. Gardner emphasizes nature s resistance to
Grendel as [a bull] snorted through this nose and pawed more deeply, spattering grass and black earth
at his sharp rear hooves...I watched him loll his weight forward, sliding into an easy lope, head tilted,
coming toward me (20). Due to the idea that Grendel is secluded from both nature and humans, he can
be considered an unnatural being for he has no place in the world. Clearly, Grendel is in discord with
nature as animals, such as this bull, attack him with the intent to kill. As a result, Gardner uses the
motif of animals attacking Grendel to suggest that nature as a whole is against anything foreign.
Furthermore, later on in the novel when Grendel is near death, he takes notice to his surroundings
expressing that animals gather around me, enemies of old, to watch me die...they watch on, evil,
incredibly stupid, enjoying, my destruction (173 74). By referring to the animals as

  • 2. Aristophanes Voices Concerns for Ancient Greek Culture in... Aristophanes was not a proponent of the majority of Athenian culture, as well as other aspects of Greek life as whole. He despised the political, educational, and societal views that remained persistent throughout Athens. While his plays may be comedies, he uses them in an assortment of ways. His plays are used to demonstrate a purpose far beyond that of entertainment. He uses his writing for voicing the problems that lie in Ancient culture. Aristophanes uses each play to reveal certain issues that he felt should have been dealt with. His plays featured satire, farces, and even comical dialogue. His plays were written with clarity and were quite lyrical. Using plays as vessels for opinion is defined best by saying that The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He creates a private and individual peace treaty with the Spartans, and he finally receives his peace. His land and his home become war free (The Acharnians, lines 195 204). The Acharnians were appalled that Dikaiopolis had signed a peace treaty. They form a mob and head to his home. There, they insult him and they threaten his life. But the whole time this is going on, Dikaiopolis is mocking them. He is insulting them because of how foolish they really are. Dikaiopolis doesn t understand why they want to fight so much. He takes every opportunity to advocate their stupidity by comically refuting their actions toward him and his family. Dikaiopolis says, Comedy too can sometimes discern what is right. I shall not please, but I shall say what is true, (The Acharnians, lines 500 501). He means that he is going to say whatever he feels is right, and in the end, no matter what actions the Acharnians take, there isn t anything they can do to stop him from laughing at what they do. Aristophanes uses Dikaiopolis as an agent of conveyance. The Peloponnesian War had devastated the Greek world in the 5th century (Perry, pg. 70), and this play was written to solidify Aristophanes agreement with this statement. By choosing the Acharnians for this play, he chose a people that the Athenians could relate to; a beaten down group of individuals whose only hopes of regaining pride rested in their efforts to win the war. • 3. Importance Of Writing On Communication Conversational Writing Today, technology is continuously advancing. Computers, cell phones, and tablets are becoming lighter, faster, and more accessible. As we now have access to many more communicative devices, our rate of communication with others has greatly increased. But, the ways of conversing are changing. In the past, conversation was the exchange of ideas, sentiments, observations, and findings through face to face interactions. Now, conversation happens through texts, emails, and even social media. As the method of conversation has changed, has the way in which we engage others remained the same? As our exposure to writing with technology advances, it is important to fully comprehend the ways in which we enter writing through a conversational lense rather than just an individual activity. As students, writing typically carries a different and old way of communication. Many times, students are taught how to synthesize other s work in a formal tone. In doing so, students enter into a conversation. As they attempt to enter into this conversation through writing, what should they expect to gain? Writers should have a specific goal and motive in order to engage a targeted audience. Margaret Kantz, a famous author explains the importance of developing creativity from textual sources. In fact, Kantz states that writers should have a goal of saying something new (Kantz, 436). In doing so, writers should attempt to enter into a conversation with the intent to leave ... • 4. The Book The Ghost Writer In the book The Ghost Writer, the story is centered around Nathan Zuckerman, who struggles with whether his Jewish identity should affect how his story about Jewish people is interpreted. As a result, Roth presents a series of characters that have jewish related backgrounds, including E. I. Lonoff, Amy Bellette who resembles Anne Frank, for Nathan to observe and learn from. However, there is Hope, the wife of Lonoff, who seems to have none of the things Nathan needs; she is not jewish, neither a writer, but only a determined and thoughtful woman who prefer depth over boredom in life. Philip Roth chooses to include her in the novel to present that even without the context of identity, being a pure artist is dangerous to oneself and the surrounding love ones. With the huge success of E. I. Lonoff on professional career and his bad temper on personal life, one would expect his wife to be only a subsequent character who serves the purpose of supporting him. Such conclusion can be made when looking at Hope s language when interacting with Nathan in front of Lonoff. Under normal relationships between a couple, one should not need to explain another to their guests to make the guests feel more respected. However, when Lonoff is directing Nathan on the subject of apology, Hope feels the necessity of her interrupting the conversation, to explain and emphasize Lonoff s good intentions behind the imperative voice and the superiority feelings (39) of him. There is still a perception that African American individuals are still beneath Caucasian individuals, for some ignorant individuals. That perception was an issue that reignited April 25, 2014 at 10:00 PM when the celebrity gossip publication TMZ posted on their website a leaked tape of Los Angeles Clippers owner, Donald Sterling telling his girlfriend he does not want her to bring black people to his games, including Magic Johnson. The incident began when his girlfriend, V. Stiviano, posted an unassuming picture of she and Magic Johnson on Instagram. After posting the picture, Sterling began to receive messages from other individuals about V. posting a picture with Magic Johnson and Sterling became upset that V. posted the picture on social media for the public to see. According to TMZ on the tape he is heard saying, It bothers me a lot that you want to broadcast that you re associating with black people. Do you have to? (3:30) You can sleep with [black people]. • 6. Risk Analysis Of Risk Analysis And Management 1. Risk analysis and management One of the key segments of applying administrative safeguards to ensure or protect the association s health care records or data is known as risk analysis. It is difficult to set up a successful risk management program if the association doesn t know about the dangers or risks that exist. Risk analysis is generally new to medical field. Couple of associations/ organization implemented formal security hazard/risk assessment before the HIPAA rules publication. This is not enough to prevent the risks in health care. So, health care has to adapt risk assessment processes similarly like other industries Eight steps for risk analysis process Eight steps for risk analysis process explained by Steve Weil (2004) 1. Boundary definition The organization or association should build up a detailed inventory of all health care data and data frameworks. This audit can be directed utilizing interviews, examinations, surveys, or different means. The essential thing in this step is to recognize all the patient particular medical record data, Medical information systems (both inner and outer), and clients of the data and health care information system. 2. • 7. Bayesian Learning Essay examples BAYESIAN LEARNING Abstract Uncertainty has presented a difficult obstacle in artificial intelligence. Bayesian learning outlines a mathematically solid method for dealing with uncertainty based upon Bayes Theorem. The theory establishes a means for calculating the probability an event will occur in the future given some evidence based upon prior occurrences of the event and the posterior probability that the evidence will predict the event. Its use in artificial intelligence has been met with success in a number of research areas and applications including the development of cognitive models and neural networks. At the same time, the theory has been criticized for being philosophically unrealistic and logistically inefficient. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They allow intelligent systems flexibility and a logical way to update their database of knowledge. The appeal of probability theories in AI lies in the way they express the qualitative relationship among beliefs and can process these relationships to draw conclusions (Pearl, 1988). One of the most formalized probabilistic theories used in AI relates to Bayes theorem. Bayesian methods have been used for a variety of AI applications across many disciplines including cognitive modeling, medical diagnosis, learning causal networks, and finance. Two years after his death, in 1763, Rev. Thomas Bayes Essay Toward solving a Problem in the Doctrine of Chances was published. Bayes is regarded as the first to use probability inductively and established a mathematical basis for probability inference which he outlined in this now famous paper. The idea behind Bayes method is simple; the probability that an event will occur in future trials can be calculated from the frequency with which it has occurred in prior trails. Let s consider some everyday knowledge to outline Bayes rule: where there s smoke, there s fire. We use this everyday cliche to suggest cause and effect. But how are such relationships learned in and from everyday experience? Conditional probability provides a way to estimate the likelihood of some outcome given a particular situation. Bayes theorem further refines this idea by incorporating ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Refugees are generally grateful for their new lives in Australia and they embrace our culture. The Happiest Refugee is a source of evidence that supports this. • 12. Factors Affecting Population Growth According to the book, there are three main factors that influence population growth. The first factor the book addresses is childhood mortality. Childhood mortality refers to the amount of children who die before age five. According to a website called ourworldindata.com, the child mortality rate in 2015 was around 4.3 percent. Childhood mortality can impact population growth because if the mortality rate is high, the amount of childhood deaths would cause less population growth. A decrease in childhood mortality could cause families to have smaller families since there is a higher likelihood of their children surviving. Education is the second factor that impacts population growth. According to the book, people who are educated tend to wait to have children or get married due to their occupation or due to them working towards their occupation. This can impact population growth by reducing the number of children a women has due to her getting married older, having children when she is older, and dedicating time to work and children. Women who live in uneducated areas tend to marry and have children around their teens, increases the population yet also increasing poverty and lack of hygiene. The third and last factor is the lack of access to contraceptives. According to the book, contraceptives tend to decrease the amount of children a women has, allows more women to have children who survive the birthing process, and reduces the amount of women who die in childbirth. Salvador Dali, Vincent Van Gogh and Roy Lichtenstein illustrate the embodiment of the human experience within a realm of artistic expression. Each respective artist exemplifies the power of an image to produce a statement regarding the unconscious mind, mental anguish, and the banality of industrial culture. Ultimately, they evoke a poignant story within a simple picture. The Persistence of Memory by Salvador Dali is universally regarded as an emblem of the Surrealist movement. However, the meaning of its aesthetic construction is mystifying. The painting features four clocks draped in a barren desert. The clocks are disproportionately bent and appear to be melting into the landscape of the painting. Additionally, there is no indication of human life. The juxtaposition of this painting is eccentric and indiscriminate. It depicts the assemblage of unrelated items. Thus, it represents the landscape of the psyche when it is engaged in the act of dreaming. The melting clocks personify the manner in which time capriciously melts away as an individual dreams. The first of the three books, Sowing , lays the foundation for the whole story by introducing us to Thomas Gradgrind and his school. The opening lines to the whole story read NOW, what I want is, Facts. Teach these boys and girls nothing but Facts. Facts ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Bill Cosby Medal Of Freedom Analysis Some people are requesting the US government to revoke Bill Cosby s Medal of Freedom, after more details have emerged in the rape allegations against the comedian. On Wednesday (July 15th), President Obama addressed those seeking the revocation of Cosby s medal. There s no precedent for revoking a medal. We don t have that mechanism, the President answered. While most people may have expected President Obama to end his statement with that answer, he instead commented on what he defines as rape. If you give a woman or a man, for that matter, without his or her knowledge, a drug and then have sex with that person without consent, that s rape. This country, and civilized country, should have no tolerance for rape, President Obama stated. Even though Cosby continues to deny the rape allegations, an old deposition has surfaced and it now appears the rape accusations made by countless women are true. During the deposition, Cosby admitted he had prescriptions for quaaludes (a sedative), and he testified under oath that he gave a woman the sedative. Cosby was then asked if he was going to use the quaaludes for women he wanted to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 33. Contrast Of Presidential Campaign Positions Of McCain And... Contrast of presidential *campaign positions of McCain and Obama. From year to year, presidential elections face many controversial problems that involve candidates personality and ideas, and they have a great influence on voters decisions. Many journalists and politicians express their feelings about upcoming presidential elections in provocative articles, revealing accomplishments of one and limitations of another, but the only right way to find out who our candidates are, and what are their real intentions, is to let them turn their ideas into life. McCain plans a retirement tax cut, to be exact, to lower Medicare premiums, and to reform budgeting to treat equally spending and taxes and to stop damaging tax hikes . Finally, he adds that he is going to fight the Democrats crippling plans for a tax increases in 2011, which compose about 700 dollars per person. (McCain J. , McCain Tax Cut Plan, 2008) It is surprising that Obama has no word about tax increases in his economic issues section; probably he has it in his official plan and there is no secret about it, but still, can we accuse him of not telling the whole truth? It is pretty clear that an average voter never reads official plans, and he will never know about tax increases if somebody like Mr. McCain, for example, will not reveal it for public. It would be foolish to assume that an excuse might be that elections are in 2009, and plans for 2011 can be reported in 2011, as candidates should inform their voters about all plans during their presidential term. Not less important question in economic development is trading policy and employment. Both candidates have a variety of valuable ideas about this issue. John McCain stresses his attention on lowering barriers to trade; he will engage in multilateral, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Pros And Cons Of For-Profit Universities There are many individuals who believe, that for profit universities and colleges pose a significant threat to American higher education, and that they should be banned, I also agree with this outlook on for profit universities. According to Sheffield s article, For profit schools enable low income and racial minority students, including many who are non traditional, to gain practical, skills based training that better equips them for the marketplace relative to many traditional academic paths. For profit colleges and universities differ from non profit colleges and universities because they can be completed in a shorter amount of time. The training at these schools is typically focused on only vocational skills, i.e. business and office, technical education and within the trade industry. For profit colleges can be seen in many different forms, there are online schools such as the University of Phoenix, technical schools, culinary schools, and etc. For profit schools are profit seeking schools, the price is high and some may say that the cost of the tuition is not always going to the students. For profit universities also come with big opinions for and against them. For profit colleges tend to be looked down upon because of the price tag that comes along with them. For profit universities are incredibly expensive and tuition dollars typically do not go towards the students. These colleges survive on their marketing strategies, and approximately twenty five ... • 38. Nature And Evil In Grendel, By John Gardner According to the Shaper, Grendel was the dark side...in effect. The terrible race God cursed (51). From his very upbringing, Grendel was cursed, set apart from the rest of nature. This isolation became evident throughout the novel as it seemed both humans and nature were against him. In the novel Grendel by John Gardner, the theme of nature fighting what is unnatural is supported by the motifs of animals, snakes, and trees. The prevalence of nature s clash with that which is unnatural is evident in the reoccurring images of animals throughout the novel. Gardner emphasizes nature s resistance to Grendel as [a bull] snorted through this nose and pawed more deeply, spattering grass and black earth at his sharp rear hooves...I watched him loll his weight forward, sliding into an easy lope, head tilted, coming toward me (20). Due to the idea that Grendel is secluded from both nature and humans, he can be considered an unnatural being for he has no place in the world. Clearly, Grendel is in discord with nature as animals, such as this bull, attack him with the intent to kill. As a result, Gardner uses the motif of animals attacking Grendel to suggest that nature as a whole is against anything foreign. Furthermore, later on in the novel when Grendel is near death, he takes notice to his surroundings expressing that animals gather around me, enemies of old, to watch me die...they watch on, evil, incredibly stupid, enjoying, my destruction (173 74).
