Maus Father
Art refers to his work as realistic fiction as a way to convey that this is his interpretation of his
father s history. Maus and Maus II aren t necessarily the exact way that his father experienced
things, but rather Arts way of piecing together his father s story as it was told to him which he
must then morph so that it adheres to a comic book representation. The clearest example of this is
in the early pages of MausII when Art appears to break the fourth wall. See what I mean... In real
life you d never have let me talk like this without interrupting (16 Spiegelman). Art realizes that he
has had to adjust certain aspects of his father s story in order to deliver a better comic book, but
ultimately the message and heaviness of his father s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To play into his ironic usage of mice as Jews and cats as Nazi s, he incorporates frogs, pigs, and
dogs to represent the various peoples of the story. In a way, he too is stereotyping nations based
on their position during WWII. When Francoise ask to be drawn as a rabbit, Art states But you re
French! Nah, too sweet and gentle. I mean the French in general. Let s not forget the centuries of
anti semitism (11 Spiegelman). I think he s trying to tell the reader about the various countries
involved and furthermore label them by their role in the holocaust, as according to Vladek. In
chapter two when Art represents the various people with mask on as opposed to animals, he is
taking a moment to remind the reader that everyone in the story is indeed a person. This is
complemented by the fact that we see Art struggling with a very human problem as he struggles

Laryngotracheobronchitis Essay
Laryngotracheobronchitis Imagine a hacking cough that sounds so hoarse that it would be scary
for an adult, but with from a child. A child s health is the most important thing to most parents
and when something comes up that isn t in a parent s control it s terrifying. There are a lot of
diseases that just appear but there aren t quite as many that only children are susceptible to.
Laryngotracheobronchitis is one of the rare diseases that only gets caught by children and it s
important to be aware of what it is, the symptoms of it, and how to take care of it.
Layngotracheobronchitis, often referred to as croup, is defined as the inflammation the larynx
and trachea in children, associated with infection, and causing breathing difficulties (WebMD). In
simpler terms, croup is an upper respiratory infection that blocks airways. It is a very contagious
viral infection and can be confused with a common cold. Croup is pretty easy to identify though.
Croup is a common childhood virus that affects kids 5 and under. When a child catches croup they
often develop a cough that sounds like a dog or a seal bark; this is usually the first sign. Along
with the cough and runny nose, due to the fact that the airway is being constricted by inflammation
and mucus, the child might also develop stridor. Stridor is the ... Show more content on

Modern Theatre Vs Greek Theatre
A Synopsis and comparison of Ancient Greek theater to present times Greece was the first culture
to significantly raise the standards not only for philosophical ideals, mathematical methods
astronomical allegories, architectural influence, medical techniques, and much more, but also
ultimately, the most substantial contribution they charted was theater pioneering. What was
considered theatre back in ancient times is completely unrecognizable to what we are used to
theater nowadays.
Back in the Hellenistic period, 500 to 200 B.C., theatre served a completely different purpose than it
does today; it solely dealt with honoring their Dodekatheon gods rather than entertaining the crowd
and provoking thought. Arguably the theatre was the most important part of the Athenian religious
and social culture where everyone who worked extremely hard throughout the year would look
forward to the month that was dedicated to their most beloved god, Dionysus. Imagine living in
550 B.C., celebrating life for an entire month without having any obligations towards anyone.
Dionysus was the Greek god of grape harvest, and wine, who served as a symbol of pleasure and
ecstasy within Greek culture (Wickham 31). The logic behind that is that every one of the twelve
gods would be celebrated for a month. One might ask, how did they keep track of it? Valid question,
but it really stems from the extremely sophisticated technology and mathematics. One of the
instruments they used was the

Presidential Elections And Election Elections
Political elections, especially presidential elections have many variables that influence the voters
when they go to the polls. Many researchers use various methods to figure out all the possible
outcomes of the election and what the voters are looking for in a particular year. This year has
been unique because of the different personalities that the candidates own. This new diversity has
caused researchers to revise their tactics from earlier years. Also, negative political ads for this
electionyear have had some impact on voters. Furthermore, a candidate s religious affiliation will
also have an effect on different segments of the population. Finally, in previous presidential
elections, divided parties rarely won presidential elections. Will this year have the same end result?
Finally, the exact effects caused by these variables can sometimes only be determined by research
studies. These studies have to be ready to hit the core of the issue affecting the outcome.
Furthermore, the questions have to be tailored, balanced and presented the same way in all outlets.
Multitude of Media Outlets
Voting for the next President of the United States is very important in our country. In our society
today voters want to know if the next President will solve the issues that effects them and how
well will he or she keep this country moving forward. Voters have more media outlets now than
ever before when trying to decide who they want to support as a leading candidate to run for

One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest And 1984 Critical Analysis
The two texts studied, 1984 and One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest, both teach the viewer
essential lessons about the importance of freedom and the dangers of despotism. They do this by
showing the viewer how awful life is in the absence of freedom, the constant abuse of power by
authoritarian forces, and the elimination of love. The film 1984, directed by Michael Radford, is
based on the highly acclaimed novel, 1984, written by George Orwell. The film follows the life of a
man called Winston living in a dystopian society. Throughout the film, the viewer sees the cruel
consequences Winston faces due to disobeying the oppressive governmental forces, as a result
teaching the audience of the importance of freedom and the dangers of despotism.... Show more

The lack of freedom is shown in One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest when Nurse Ratched
prohibits Randle and the others from watching the World Series. In order for Randle to be able to
watch the World Series, he must obtain a certain amount of votes. At first, he does not, leaving
Nurse Ratched once again feeling successful. The second time Randle asks to watch the game, he
does obtain the required amount of votes, yet Nurse Ratched claims it does not count, as the
requirement was not met while the group meeting was still running. Small instances like this leave
people such as Randle left feeling helpless and as if they are not entitled to basic forms of
enjoyment. The lesson that each of the texts attempt to show the reader is that freedom is an
important aspect of life, even having the freedom to do what we view as minuscule activities, such
as to choose what to watch on television.
Love is believed to be having a deep affection for someone, whether that be a spouse, parent, or
child. Throughout both 1984 and One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest the idea of love is
diminished as much as possible. In 1984, love for anything but The Party is prohibited and sex is
solely for procreational purposes. Before Winston meets Julia, he follows the Government s
commands and abstains from love. However, soon after meeting her he falls in love and is quick to
disobey. Eventually they are

A Case Study Of The Psychoanalytic Problem In Counselling
This Case study will discuss Louise (The Client) given that the emotional difficulty seems to have
begun for Louise since adopting a new child (Peter) due to the death of her husband s (Robert)
sister, Furthermore, a gambling addiction has emerged. The question arises of how each
psychological modality, theory or model could help Louise. To begin with, Firth (2015) describes
the Psychoanalytical approach (Freud) as focusing on the unconscious mind where events in
childhood shape the potentially developed adult. For this reason, therapy aims to uncover past
conflicts created in the unconscious mind and surface these (catharsis). Freud likened the mind to
an iceberg. Additionally, within this approach is theory Firth (2015) also suggests Freud... Show

Examination of Cultural Diversity in America Essay
Cultural Diversity in America: Examination of African Americans and Asian Americans Many
ethnic groups reside and persist in America. Minority groups are misunderstood and undervalued in
today s society. There are many cultures, history, social relations, religious traditions, and linguistic
aspects enduring in our country because of our abundant diversity. Two minority groups that are
misconstrued are African Americans and Asian Americans. These two groups of people have many
differences, but also have a few commonalities. African Americans and Asian Americans influence
society in the United Statesin multiple ways, for example specifically in educational settings.

As time elapsed de jure segregation, also known as the Jim Crow system, began in the South
that replaced slavery in the South. According to Healey (2012), Under segregation, the minority
group is physically and socially separated from the dominant group and consigned to an inferior
position in virtually every area of social life (p. 182). Under state and local laws, African
Americans were considered inferior to Caucasians. All aspects of life were included in segregation
such as schools, restrooms, parks, stores, and any public facility. The civil rights movement began
to eliminate laws based on racial segregation. In 1954, the Supreme Court ruled in Brown v. Board
of Education of Topeka that separate facilities are unequal; therefore, the laws were
unconstitutional, which abolished de jure segregation (Healey, 2012, p. 233). During the civil
rights movement there were many influential leaders such as Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King
Jr. promoting nonviolent protests. Finally, in 1964 United States Congress passed the Civil Rights
Act of 1964, outlawing discrimination based on race, color, religion, national origin, or sex. This
act was only the beginning as our nation is still trying to eliminate discrimination completely. These
important historical events have influenced past and current African Americans. Asian

The Ones Who Walk Away From The Omelas By Ursula Le Guin
A dream of ignorance The short story The ones who walk away from the Omelas by Ursula Le
Guin does a great job of criticizing the flaws of a capitalist society. What this means is that she
talks about how it has become a standard for someone to become happy at the expense of others.
In order to demonstrate this she presents a society that guarantees eternal happiness at the
expense of a single child who must suffer through it all. The characters are faced with two
choices which would be to stay and accept the child s fate or to walk away and leave for the
mountains. Both of these choices do not involve helping the child but rather abandoning it in both
circumstances. This is a criticism of how people in reality typically treat those who are... Show

Le Guin s exploitation of this in her writing gives us a clear indication of her intended audience.
This once again justifies my theory as to why Omelas is based off of a dream she once had. What
the dream did was remind of her that there are people out there suffering and being completely
ignored. The fact that she contributed towards the continuation of such suffering ultimately inspired
her to push for change in public awareness. An important method that Le Guin uses is to maintain
respect by not acting angry to the general public. If she was calling out individuals disrespectfully
then she herself would be subject to criticism as well. This is why she turns to writing due to past
difficulties with public activism. While she did help influence a few people to help spread the
word, she gained more public criticism as people found her too demanding(jstor.org). Therefore she
switched to becoming an activist through writing literature. Switching through this method has
helped gain widespread respect while further popularizing her cause. An interesting fact about this
short and the poverty rate in the Unites States there seems to be a positive correlation in terms of
reducing it. The story was written in the year 1973 and the poverty rate has reduced by a seven
percent(the nation.org). While there is shown improvements from back then, these

How Did The Million Man March Promote African Americans...
Throughout time African Americans have fought for their equality, integrity, and unity. The Million
Man March is another example of an act to promote African American equality, show their
importance, and unify all. The March took place October 16, 1995 in Washington D.C. . It was
organized in order to accomplish many goals that benefit African Americans. What were the goals
of the Million Man March? The Million Man march aimed to raise awareness of the importance of
African Americanrights, to show African Americans value to society, and to promote unity between
African American communities.
One of the goals of the Million Man March was to raise awareness for African Americans rights.
The importance of the Million Man March was to show America and themselves that African
Americans are able to come together on issues. The leader of the march, Minister Louis Farrakhan ,
encouraged people to demand that politicians develop an agenda to address the needs and concerns
of African Americans. Delta college graduate, Otha Farley writes, The planned strategy included

The most common user of general purpose financial reporting is present and potential investors,

The Life Of King Josiah
I learned wrong from right at a young age, and I am sure most of that is because I also learned
the consequences that came when I did something wrong. I cannot count the number of times I
disobeyed my mom and instead of owning my actions I would say, he did it too, as I pointed to
my brother. It is all too easy to justify sin when other people are joining us. For my whole life,
my mom has responded to my bandwagon mentality, if they jump off a bridge are you going to
too? In other words, don t just follow the crowd blindly. This summer I was reading through
books in the Old Testament. When I got to 1 and 2 Kings, I saw a pattern of sin amongst the
kings who ruled. Nearly every king worshipped idols or refused to tear down pagan shrines. They
knew it was wrong and were punished for their sin, and yet they continued in their sinful ways. It
seemed that one king would rule, allowed the people in the nation to worship idols, his rule would
end, and then another king would come and do the same thing. There was a repeated pattern of sin.

is a tragedy and if Yousef and his group was successful as they planned they would have single

The Hostility Between the Montagues and the Capulets ...
The Hostility Between the Montagues and the Capulets in Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare
William Shakespeare s play Romeo and Juliet has a major theme of conflict. The main conflict in
the play is the feud between the two wealthy families: the Montagues and the Capulets .
Shakespeare does not state the reason for the hostility between the two families. Shakespeare may
have done this to indicate how long the feud has been going for. Shakespeare creates conflicts
between characters in the play. One conflict is between Tybalt and Romeo . This conflict is
interesting because it is between two contrasting characters. Tybalt is very arrogant and has an
aggressive attitude. While Romeo is quiet... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Friar Lawrence provides another example of conflict when he marries Romeo to Juliet in
opposition to the authority of their fathers. This conflict is unique because Romeo and Juliet s
fathers did not found out about the marriage until towards the end of the play. This creates
suspense in the story. Sometimes there is conflict inside the mind of individuals. Romeo
visualizes where his destiny leads him to. I fear too early, for my mind misgives some
consequence yet hanging in the stars . This line shows disturbing pictures of Romeo s fait.
Shakespeare uses conflicts inside the minds to create mystery. Love and hate is a very common
occurrence in Romeo and Juliet . There are many characters that show a loving attitude towards
someone. Romeo and Rosaline love was not pure Romeo was just infatuated with Rosaline, this
all stopped once Romeo meets Juliet. Another example of love is between Romeo and Friar
Lawrence. Romeo and Friar Lawrence love is different. This is because they share a brotherly
type of love. Nurse and Juliet provide another example of love in the play. Their love is similar
to the love that Romeo and Friar Lawrence share. However the love between the Nurse and Juliet
is considered to be stronger because Nurse has nurtured Juliet since she was a baby. There is
evidence of this in the play. On Lammas eve at night shall she be

Fair Trade On The Banana Industry
Fair Trade in the Banana Industry
The banana industry has been met with much hardship since its establishment, and Colombia is no
stranger to those hardships. The total production in Colombia is estimated at 95 million boxes a
year, generating around 700 million dollars in 2012. Banana represents 3.0% of Colombia s total
exports and 6.0% of non traditional exports, which generates 0.4% of the country s Gross Domestic
Product (GDP). Colombian banana exporters are the third biggest in Latin America. In 2009,
24.21% of the production was sent to the United States and Canada, 62.26% to the European Union
and 13.55% to other countries. The production of export bananas takes place in two different:
UrabГЎ, and Santa Marta. Between 2009 and 2010, Colombia was reported as the country with the
third highest Fairtrade income, with approximately $62 million USD. In order to maintain a high
form of production, banana farmers would often neglect important matters such as environmental
standards and human working conditions as the path to a cleaner farming and safer working
conditions is not the most cost effective form of production. However, the integration of fair trade in
the banana world has directly greatly modified the banana industry. Along with the implication of
fair trade the environment has been made one of the top priorities with ensuring farming is done so
by means that will allow the land to regenerate and even to promote healthy environmental
initiatives. The farmers

The Impact Of Japanese Occupation From 1941-1945 Affect...
How Did Japanese Occupation from 1941 1945 affect the History of HK
Introduction
The Japanese occupation of Hong Kong commenced on December 25, 1941 after Sir Mark
Young, the Governor of Hong Kong by then, had surrendered the land of Hong Kong to Japan.
This surrender took place after 18 days of aggressive battle between Canadian and British defenders
and the overwhelming Japanese Imperial militaries. Eventually, the occupation continued for 3
years and 8 months. This paper seeks to analyze the implications of the Japanese occupation to the
people of Hong Kong and find how the British Government had reformed the political system,
recovered the economy, and improved the people s living condition after 1945.

After they had dispossessed the merchants and banks of the properties, Japanese authorities
substituted domestic dollars for Japanese army yen; thus, Hong Kong currency was banned. The
rate of exchange was settled at two Hong Kong dollars to one Japanese military yen. After a while,
in July 1942, the yen was re prized at 4 Hong Kong dollars to 1 Japanese yen, which implied that
native persons can exchange a smaller amount of military currency than before. The Japanese
administration traded the Hong Kong dollar to facilitate the funding of their wartime economy,
whereas the residents of Hong Kong became poor due to the enforced exchanges. Later in June
1943, yen was the only lawful tender for formal undertakings. The prices of goods and services
for selling had to be in yen. Yen s progressive depreciation caused a serious price rises and
instability, directly impacting the residents of Hong Kong. In addition, the Japanese yen was
afterwards confirmed valueless, and residents, lacking ownership of their initial Hong Kong dollar,

Once shareholders became drawn to stocks because everyone else was buying, realistic
valuations of stocks based on their earnings potential got crowded out by what Greenspan
characterized in 1996 as В‘irrational exuberance . This kind of bull market is typically fuelled by
cheap money and lots of debt. The low interest policy pursued by the Fed in the wake of the Asian
crisis in 1997В–99 induced many investors to take out broker loans for additional stock purchases.
With shares serving as collateral for those loans, rising stock prices enhanced the borrowing
capacity of investors and so became a funding machine for the bull market. In addition, many firms
took out a lot of debt to buy back their shares and so counter the dilution of stock ownership
brought about by the extensive use of stock options as a new form of employee compensation. It is
this interaction between debt and asset inflation which turns a reasonably bullish stock market into a
speculative bubble.
Such a bubble is, however, unsustainable. It will burst when the rosy expectations about future
profits underlying those sky high stock market valuations turn out to have been unrealistic. As
market sentiments shift and disappointed investors try to cash in their capital gains, selling waves
ensue to push stock prices rapidly lower. Pressured by high levels of indebtedness in the face of
declining asset values and mounting capital losses, investors rush to liquidate their

As Bruce Arrigo contends, Forensic psychologists expend in malefaction and equity. They
examine the case, controversies, social quandaries, mental states, and other intricate phenomena
found in adults, the youth, civil, and family areas with profi cient execution. They may not
define the parameters of their work as such; however, they are unquestionably committed to this
enterprise (Arrigo). Forensic Psychologists play a major roll in the avoidance of future crimes.
The way these scientists help, is by being called upon to participate in the rehabilitation of
criminals, for instance, to help ensure that they become law abiding citizens ( Careers in

by looking at their behavior. In this field of Forensic Science, Psychologists can make an av erage

Afro-descendants in Latin America Essay
There are currently 150 million Afro descendants in Latin America who make up nearly 30 percent
of the region s population (Congressional Research Service, 2005). Out of the fifteen Latin
American nations that have recently adapted some sort of multicultural reform, only three give
recognize Afro Latino communities and give them the same rights as indigenous groups (Hooker,
2005). Indigenous groups are more successful than afro descendent groups in gaining collective

More specifically, that elites are more apt to give rights to groups small in number because they
are less of a threat, and Afro Latinos compose a larger percent of the population in most countries.
However, when looking at population size as an indicator of whether blacks or indigenous groups
gain collective rights, there is no direct correlation (Hooker, 2005). While it may be the case that
population size is an important factor in elite decision making about collective rights, it does not
explain the uneven scope of such rights won by blacks and Indians within and across countries
(293). Following this logic, Bolivia, a largely indigenous country would not have the progressive
indigenous recognition in comparison to other countries like Chile, where the indigenous
population is much smaller.
Hooker claims indigenous groups are more successful and gaining collective rights due to the view
of indigenous groups as a distinct cultural group while Afro decedents are not seen as having a
distinct culture, but rather a separate racial group (Hooker, 2005). Wade (1997) also pointed the
inequality in epistemology of academics in who study Latin America. Where black groups are
studied by sociologists in relation to racism and indigenous peoples are studied by Anthropologist
(p.60). Blacks find it more difficult to gain recognition because the multicultural reforms adopted by
Latin American states are based on ethnic identity rather than race

Analyzing Dante s The Divine Comedy
Part 1 How does Dante use metaphors/allegories as mechanisms for articulating his vision of
Christian ethos? Consider how the work is structured and how punishment is meted out and his use
of contrapasso.
Durante degli Alighieri, usually referred to as Dante (1265 1321), was an Italian poet, moral
philosophers, and political thinker best known for his epic poem La divina commedia. Essentially,
The Divine Comedy describes Dante s journey through Hell, Purgatory, and Paradise guided at first
by the Roman poet Virgil, and then by Beatrice, the subject of his undying love. In many ways,
though, the poem is both a literary story of a journey and a commentary about the political and
moral issues of the time; Christianity, royalty, privilege, class, and most certainly the concept of
sin and the Devil. Besides being a treatise on the socio political climate of the time, Dante used
the concept of Hell and Satan to explain human imperfection and a way to see another
organization within the temporal world. Dante parodies the Trinity in the three parts of Satan, but
also paints a mythology that became truth for many, and certainly part and parcel of modern
popular culture. Satan in Dante s works is quite familiar to the mModern individual: demonic,
able to possess a human s free will, lizard like but able to pretend, a liar, thief of sould, and the
archenemy of God and all that is good in the universe (Anderson, 2010, 365 75).
As a poem, The Divine Comedy uses metaphors quite

Evolution Of Sexual And Sexual Selection
This article focuses on the evolution of sexual differences in insects. Intense sexual selection due to
competition for mates is the main driving force behind the evolution of such variations. Males
produce smaller and more numerous gametes than females and often competition between males is
greater than that between females. It is suggested by the authors that the material contribution by
each of sexes to the next generation is what determines the reproductive rate of the population. In an
instances where one sexcontributes more to the reproduction and survival of the offspring than the
other this sex will become the limiting factor for sexual selection, and will be subject to greater
loss of fitness if an importer mate choice is made. In terms of contribution to offspring both male
and femalecan provide care in various ways. The relative investment of each sex will determine
the degree to which the one sex competes for the opposite one. The observed sexual differences
proved a clue about the intensity of sexual selection in particular species. Usually females
contribute more to the offspring care and are the limiting factor for sexual selection, as a result
males exhibit more variations in secondary sexual characteristics in terms of morphology and
behavior. In species that male provide more care the roles are reversed. Though direct care is not
common in insects the males might contribute indirectly by protecting the female after mating as
observed in several

Taxpayers are the funders for public facilities such as corrections. Jail and prisons are funded
through tax dollars and therefore have interest when dealing with these programs. Research done

would be released back into the community. A more staggering statistic is that fifty percent of the
offenders will return to prion within five years (NMlegis). This display a breakdown through our
criminal system where half of those incarcerated will return. It is the job of the facility not to solely
punish but teach the inmates how to learn acceptably in society. The audience for this article is
directed towards the legislative branch and the cost of inmates returning back to prisonor jail. One
of the ways that is truly upsetting to me is the talk of the economical burden these inmates place
on the taxpayers. If the statement read, reducing recidivism, even by just ten percent, can save
thousands of families it would be perfect. Instead to get the point to those who have the ability to
make changes it reads, Reducing recidivism, even just by ten percent, can save millions

millions of dollars. The approach that we have in our country is based off the philosophy that they

Value of Time
The value of Time
The value of time is limitless, it cannot be measured. The value of time arises from the fact that
human life is short but he has to do a lot of works within the short span of time. Each work
requires some time. If the work is not finished in time, it may not be finished at all. That explains
why time is so valuable and it should not be lost for nothing.
Tome goes on like the tide of a river and it never waits for anybody. Lost time can never be found
again. Misuse of time is a great crime and it makes life barren like a desert. He is really great who
makes the most of every moment in useful works. Success is bound to come to his doorstep.

It moves. What was yesterday is not today. What is today will not be tomorrow. Yesterday is
gone. Today is and tomorrow is yet to come. Yet time is said to have no holiday. It exists always.
The entire creation moves on according to a time pattern. There is birth, growth and death. There
is time for everything. Plants flower and give fruits. Seasons come according to time. A child is
born, grows into boyhood, adolescence, youth, middle age and old age according to age and time.
Every movement of creation is linked with time. One cannot grow paddy in a month nor can a
child become an adult in a year. Everything is fixed to a time frame.
Time is a free force. It does not wait for any one. It is commonly said that time and tide waits for
no man. Time is money. A minute not usefully spent is an eternal loss. You can never get back the
lost minute. One has to strike the iron when it is hot. The time flies and never returns. If you waste
time it wastes you.
Time is the best medicine , says Ovid. It is said that time heals all wounds and it even heals what
reason cannot. All human beings are emotional. When negative emotions like fear, anger, envy and
jealousy overtake them, they lose reason and act in haste leading to serious consequences. They
may repent later, as emotions cool down. But the damage done is done and remains forever. Even
that damage can heal with the passage of time. People involved may forget and forgive. That is the
importance of

I think whites are carefully taught not to recognize white privilege, as males are taught not to
recognize male privilege (176) People of color are put at a disadvantage in this county because they
are judged on the color of their skin. Upper middle class people don t realize that they were born
with white privilege, and look down upon people of color because they assume that they are
uneducated and/or poor. Children are taught that they are special and have every opportunity to do
what they love and make a name for themselves. Unfortunately for people of color, white people
have the upper hand. For example, a Spanish woman named Emilia Rodriguez, who worked day
and night to obtain a job interview with Bridgewater Associates, is competing against a white
male named Joe Average, who received the interview because his successful father organized the
meeting. Despite Emilia s hard work and dedication, Joe would most likely receive the job because
of his ethnicity, his father s social position and Joe s gender. An example of this racial profiling in

Essay on The Failings of Fundamentalism
Fundamentalism is an espresso shot of Christianity strong, bitter, and undiluted.
Fundamentalists believe the Bible should be interpreted as literal fact, not metaphorically.
To them, it is God s direct word to humanity and the ultimate earthly authority. And so
fundamentalists follow the Bible with unwavering certainty, as if it were God himself, and
press their interpretation of the book upon society. But the certainty at fundamentalism s core is
unwarranted, leading them to wrongfully ignore their oppositions own valid opinions and the
potential gains that come with them.

Their beliefs
demand an uncompromising attitude; for in their minds, their beliefs are not just their beliefs, but
unquestionable truths ordained by God.
While the fundamentalists reasoning is valid, their assumptions are dubious, resulting in
an absolutist mindset that unduly rejects non Biblical viewpoints. Indeed, if the Bible is inerrant,
and if the Bible is God s supreme will, then the fundamentalists zeal is justifiable and the world
ought to listen to them. However, fundamentalists downplay the almighty if. By their own
admission, their certainty in the Bible and in God is built on faith, which the Bible defines
as confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see (NIV Heb. 11.1).
Neither hope nor assurance are quantifiable pieces of evidence; they are feelings, subjective by
definition. Therefore, fundamentalists may feel they are right, but they cannot know whether
they are right by standards of objective reasoning. Even if fundamentalist doctrine is entirely
correct, it has no more privilege to absolute certainty than any other set of opinions. As such,
fundamentalists must understand that their legislative efforts to defend God s will from ungodly
assaults (Marsden) will be seen by others as acts of condemnation, homophobia, and misogyny
(Riascos). They must consider others opposite and equally

Fxico Madero Pros And Cons
The country of Mexico won its independence from Spain in 1821 and over the coming decades
would see serious political strife while leaders fought for control of the country. In 1876 General
Porfirio Diaz seized control of the country and held power for the next thirty four years. Diaz was
a no nonsense sort of leader, who did not allow any opposition to his policies. Diaz promoted
investment into Mexicos natural resources from foreign companies and improved the wages of
many of his supporters, while at the same time ignoring the lower classes who saw their wages
shrink and their livelihood suffer.
Economic strife during the 1907 to 1909 years allowed for opposition parties to rise up to challenge
Diaz. One such leader was Francisco Madero, who campaigned across Mexico for democratic
elections in a bid to oust Diaz. Diaz responded to Madero s Presidential bid by having him and five

computer tablet was the third major innovation that Apple had released over the last decade. CEO
Steve Jobs had argued that the iPad was another revolutionary product that could emulate the

Apple s competitive position changed fundamentally in 1981 when IBM entered the PC market.
The IBM PC, which used Microsoft s DOS operating system (OS) and a microprocessor (also
called a CPU) from Intel, was a relatively open system that other producers could clone. Apple, on
the other hand, practiced horizontal and vertical integration. It relied on its own proprietary designs
and refused to license its hardware to third parties.
IBM PCs not only gained more market share, but they also emerged as the new standard for the
industry. Apple responded by introducing the Macintosh in 1984. The Mac marked a
breakthrough in ease of use, industrial design, and technical elegance. However, the Mac s slow
processor speed and lack of compatible software limited sales. Apple s net income fell 62%

manner, the fact that they are able to confront their deepest fears and are able to see through the
idea of a perfect society. Divergent s also work out that you don t need to be paired with people
that share the mutual hate that you have towards another faction in this case. Tris and Four
manipulate the system as they can see that the government has split up everyone so that they don t
unite and combine all of their skill sets. This is why we see that the government purposely divides
people to stop them from combining their skill sets and becoming more powerful than the
government. Showing how Tris and four are feared to the government and displaying individuality
is the enemy.
This relates to the homicide rate in Chicago in the current world as the year that Tris and Four
defeated the system the homicides in real life decreased. Showing that the homicide rate in Chicago
was used as a draw point to establish themes throughout the movie. Through the use of editing
within Divergent it is established that the relationships between the recruits and each other are

Concentration Levels Of High School Students Chewing Gum...
Abstract: The purpose of this experiment was the find the difference between concentration levels
of high school students chewing gum versus non chewers. The concentration portion provided
students with two color tests to take to record differences in concentration. The results provided
data with an increase in concentration of students while chewing gum.
Introduction:
Psychologist have tested the effect of gum many times but can t specifically find what makes gum a
concentrating agent. Sugar free gum has the same effect as gum with sugar present. At St.
Lawrence University a groups of students were given a number of tasks half of the students chewed
gum while the other half did not. The group that chewed gum did significantly better ... Show more

Methods
The first step in conducting the experiment was deciding who was going to be tested. The test
included using four classes each of a different grade level to perform the color/concentration test on.
Each student was given a notecard to document their: Name, Age, Gender, Grade, Score, and Time.
The first test was fireworkspop.com/colortest which was the simpler of the two test. As students
take the test monitor the room and answer any questions anyone has getting to the website. After
completing the first test the students will then their first score on the note card and proceed to
take the second color test on cognitivefun.net/test/2. the second color test was slightly different
and could go on forever. Instruct the students to go to trial twenty one to get their results. The
website gives the option to continue anonymously and the website calculates the score and gives
the time it was completed in. The students wrote all their results before the note cards are taken
up to be compiled into a graph. Let time go by before doing the experiment when the gum is
included. The reason for waiting a while before doing the second portion of the test is so the
subjects would not be expecting it, therefore they would not be prepared, making results more
accurate. Splitting the class in half by numbers then again by gender, give each group one of two
flavors of gum cinnamon

Analysis Of Anonymous s War On ISIS
After the Paris attacks in 2015, Anonymous had declared war on ISIS and began their campaign of
finding, tracking and shutting down ISIS related sites and accounts. During this time, Anonymous
was monitoring and tracking a small group of militants and determined the group was plotting to
copycat a mass killing terrorist attack that killed 38 tourists at Tunisia beach resort hotel; this time
suicide attack on a market in the same country. This finding was the first time Anonymous had
found an actual terrorist plot; before they were just shutting down ISIS propaganda and recruitment
campaigns sites and accounts. Upon uncovering the plot, a cell within Anonymous, GhostSec,
contacted Michael Smith II, a counter terrorismadvisor to members of

Famous Canadian Killer
Famous Canadian Criminal James Hutchison Richard Ambrose Cop Killers Canadian Criminals
are a major part of Canadian society. In our country if you were not the direct victim of a crime
you tend to forget the members of society that take pleasure in causing societies grief. As in the
case of James Hutchinson and Richard Ambrose, whose crimes were committed in December of
1974.1 They were convicted of killing two Moncton City Police officers. Today, years after the
murders were committed Ambrose and Hutchinson are still the center of a major controversy that
has plagued our parole system. In order to fully understand the controversy that Ambrose and
Hutchinson posses you must look at the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At 5pm Cpl. Bourgeois s torn drivers license was found by a covered bridge on Shediac River,
approximately 15 miles east of Moncton. Due to the fact that sunset had past the police decided
to cordon off the area and await daylight to continue the search.8 The next morning at 8am the
search resumed with the aid of tracking dogs. Within an hour police found the missing
revolvers, radio, pick and shovel in the water downstream. At 2:15pm the searchers found the
graves on a hill near the covered bridge and at 1:30pm on December 15th, 1974 the police
carried their fallen officers out of the woods wrapped in blankets.9 It was later determined that
Ambrose and Hutchinson drove the two officers to the secluded wooded area and forced them to
dig their own graves and then shot each of them in the back of the head.10 Richard Ambrose 22
was already in custody at the time the bodies were recovered. Later on the December 15th a few
minutes after 11pm James Hutchison 43 turned himself in to Sgt. Greg Cahoon of the RCMP.
Hutchison stated that he turned himself in because he knew he was wanted by the police and he
thought they would shoot first and ask questions later . Ambrose and Hutchinson were to have their
first appearance in court on December 23rd. Both Ambrose and Hutchinson were found guilty and
sentenced to death by hanging in 1976. When the Trudeau government repealed capital punishment
later in 1976 Ambrose and Hutchinson s sentence was dropped to life in prison.11

Biography of Augustine the African Essay example
Biography of Augustine the African
Augustine was born in Tagaste (modern Souk Ahras, Algeria) in 354 and died almost seventy six
years later in Hippo Regius (modern Annaba) on the Mediterranean coast sixty miles away. In the
years between he lived out a career that seems to moderns to bridge the gap between ancient pagan
Rome and the Christian middle ages. But to Augustine, as to his contemporaries, that gap separated
real people and places they knew, not whole imaginary ages of past and future. He lived as we do,
in the present, full of uncertainty.
Augustine s African homeland had been part of Rome s empire since the destruction of Carthage
five hundred years before his birth. Carthage had been rebuilt by Rome as the metropolis of ... Show

Augustine set out to make himself more Roman than the Romans and to penetrate to the center of
the culture from which he found himself alienated by his provincial birth. But that was only the
beginning of his story.
Augustine was born on 13 November, A.D. 354, in Tagaste, a town large enough to have its own
bishop but too small for a college or university.[[1]] His parents, Patricius and Monica, belonged to
the financially imperilled middle class. They were well enough off to have educational ambitions
for their son, but too poor to finance those ambitions themselves. The fourth century was an age of
mixed marriages at this level of society, in which devout Christian women like Monica were often
to be found praying for the conversion of their irreligious husbands. Her prayers were not
unavailing; Patricius accepted baptism on his deathbed. Though Patricius offered no direct impulse
towards Christianity for his son, he must not have been much more than a passive obstacle.
Of Augustine s childhood we know only what he chooses to tell us in the highly selective
memoirs that form part of the Confessions. He depicts himself as a rather ordinary sort of child,
good at his lessons but not fond of school, eager to win the approval of his elders but prone to
trivial acts of rebellion, quick to form close friendships but not always able to foresee their
consequences. He studied Latin with some enthusiasm but never loved Greek. While he was
leading what he wants us to think was

The Black Church Essay
During the years of slavery in America, slave associations were of great concern to slave owners.
Many members of white society saw Black religious meetings as a threat to white existence.
Despite this, slaves relied heavily on the churches, as they offered a kind of therapy for them, and
as the slaves retained their faith in God, they found protection within their churches. Although the
slaves practiced their religion, the white community did not always accept the slaves as Christians.
An unknown slave said, The white folks would come in when the colored people would have
prayer meeting, and whip every one of them. Most of them thought that when colored people were
praying it was against them. The Church has long been the center of Black communities, and it has
established itself as a great source of religious enrichment and secular development for African...

However, not all of the Black churches share the same aspirations and strategies as others, with
differences reflecting the communities in which the Black Churches reside. In The Negro Church,
the sociologist E. Franklin Frazier said, Methodist and Baptist denominations were separate church
organizations based upon distinctions of color and what were considered standards of civilized
behavior. Black churches are organized spiritually and politically, and they not only preach the
teachings of Christianity but they also touch on the issues of which affect their members. Black
churches have always been known to represent their community, religion, and home. Some scholars
even say that Black history and the Black church overlap to the point that they are almost identical.
The first known Black church in America originated before the American Revolution in 1758 near
the Bluestone River in Mecklenburg, Virginia. Therefore, it was known as the Bluestone

The World Wide Web and Plagiarism Essay
The World Wide Web and Plagiarism
In the recent past when computers were available to the public, users could easily type a document
without having to retype a whole page to correct or add a part to a document. Shortly after that
came the Internet where countless pages of documents and information became accessible to nearly
everybody. The problem with plagiarism was much smaller and easier to detect before the Internet.
Preceding the Internet, plagiarized materials used to originate from fraternity houses efforts to
recycle earlier information, copied directly from books at a library, or purchased from local
ghostwriters. Professors who were familiar with their materials easily detected plagiarism in these

The internet makes it possible to find documents that pertain to any subject, therefore the internet
makes it possible for any student to find a document, copy it and paste it with some others into
their own word processor to call their own. It gets even easier than that. There are even websites
solely devoted to helping students have access to other peoples papers and reports. These types
of websites are called paper mills because they allow students to get complete papers for a small fee
and sometimes even for free. When a student is looking for a paper all they have to do is type

  • 2. Maus Father Art refers to his work as realistic fiction as a way to convey that this is his interpretation of his father s history. Maus and Maus II aren t necessarily the exact way that his father experienced things, but rather Arts way of piecing together his father s story as it was told to him which he must then morph so that it adheres to a comic book representation. The clearest example of this is in the early pages of MausII when Art appears to break the fourth wall. See what I mean... In real life you d never have let me talk like this without interrupting (16 Spiegelman). Art realizes that he has had to adjust certain aspects of his father s story in order to deliver a better comic book, but ultimately the message and heaviness of his father s... A child s health is the most important thing to most parents and when something comes up that isn t in a parent s control it s terrifying. There are a lot of diseases that just appear but there aren t quite as many that only children are susceptible to. Laryngotracheobronchitis is one of the rare diseases that only gets caught by children and it s important to be aware of what it is, the symptoms of it, and how to take care of it. Layngotracheobronchitis, often referred to as croup, is defined as the inflammation the larynx and trachea in children, associated with infection, and causing breathing difficulties (WebMD). In simpler terms, croup is an upper respiratory infection that blocks airways. It is a very contagious viral infection and can be confused with a common cold. Croup is pretty easy to identify though. Croup is a common childhood virus that affects kids 5 and under. When a child catches croup they often develop a cough that sounds like a dog or a seal bark; this is usually the first sign. Along with the cough and runny nose, due to the fact that the airway is being constricted by inflammation and mucus, the child might also develop stridor. Stridor is the ... • 4. Modern Theatre Vs Greek Theatre A Synopsis and comparison of Ancient Greek theater to present times Greece was the first culture to significantly raise the standards not only for philosophical ideals, mathematical methods astronomical allegories, architectural influence, medical techniques, and much more, but also ultimately, the most substantial contribution they charted was theater pioneering. What was considered theatre back in ancient times is completely unrecognizable to what we are used to theater nowadays. Back in the Hellenistic period, 500 to 200 B.C., theatre served a completely different purpose than it does today; it solely dealt with honoring their Dodekatheon gods rather than entertaining the crowd and provoking thought. Arguably the theatre was the most important part of the Athenian religious and social culture where everyone who worked extremely hard throughout the year would look forward to the month that was dedicated to their most beloved god, Dionysus. Imagine living in 550 B.C., celebrating life for an entire month without having any obligations towards anyone. Dionysus was the Greek god of grape harvest, and wine, who served as a symbol of pleasure and ecstasy within Greek culture (Wickham 31). The logic behind that is that every one of the twelve gods would be celebrated for a month. One might ask, how did they keep track of it? Valid question, but it really stems from the extremely sophisticated technology and mathematics. One of the instruments they used was the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Presidential Elections And Election Elections Political elections, especially presidential elections have many variables that influence the voters when they go to the polls. Many researchers use various methods to figure out all the possible outcomes of the election and what the voters are looking for in a particular year. This year has been unique because of the different personalities that the candidates own. This new diversity has caused researchers to revise their tactics from earlier years. Also, negative political ads for this electionyear have had some impact on voters. Furthermore, a candidate s religious affiliation will also have an effect on different segments of the population. Finally, in previous presidential elections, divided parties rarely won presidential elections. Will this year have the same end result? Finally, the exact effects caused by these variables can sometimes only be determined by research studies. These studies have to be ready to hit the core of the issue affecting the outcome. Furthermore, the questions have to be tailored, balanced and presented the same way in all outlets. Multitude of Media Outlets Voting for the next President of the United States is very important in our country. In our society today voters want to know if the next President will solve the issues that effects them and how well will he or she keep this country moving forward. • 6. One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest And 1984 Critical Analysis The two texts studied, 1984 and One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest, both teach the viewer essential lessons about the importance of freedom and the dangers of despotism. They do this by showing the viewer how awful life is in the absence of freedom, the constant abuse of power by authoritarian forces, and the elimination of love. The film 1984, directed by Michael Radford, is based on the highly acclaimed novel, 1984, written by George Orwell. The film follows the life of a man called Winston living in a dystopian society. Throughout the film, the viewer sees the cruel consequences Winston faces due to disobeying the oppressive governmental forces, as a result teaching the audience of the importance of freedom and the dangers of despotism.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The lack of freedom is shown in One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest when Nurse Ratched prohibits Randle and the others from watching the World Series. In order for Randle to be able to watch the World Series, he must obtain a certain amount of votes. At first, he does not, leaving Nurse Ratched once again feeling successful. The second time Randle asks to watch the game, he does obtain the required amount of votes, yet Nurse Ratched claims it does not count, as the requirement was not met while the group meeting was still running. Small instances like this leave people such as Randle left feeling helpless and as if they are not entitled to basic forms of enjoyment. The lesson that each of the texts attempt to show the reader is that freedom is an important aspect of life, even having the freedom to do what we view as minuscule activities, such as to choose what to watch on television. Love is believed to be having a deep affection for someone, whether that be a spouse, parent, or child. Throughout both 1984 and One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest the idea of love is diminished as much as possible. In 1984, love for anything but The Party is prohibited and sex is solely for procreational purposes. Before Winston meets Julia, he follows the Government s commands and abstains from love. However, soon after meeting her he falls in love and is quick to disobey. Eventually they are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The question arises of how each psychological modality, theory or model could help Louise. For this reason, therapy aims to uncover past conflicts created in the unconscious mind and surface these (catharsis). Freud likened the mind to an iceberg. Under state and local laws, African Americans were considered inferior to Caucasians. All aspects of life were included in segregation such as schools, restrooms, parks, stores, and any public facility. The civil rights movement began to eliminate laws based on racial segregation. In 1954, the Supreme Court ruled in Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka that separate facilities are unequal; therefore, the laws were unconstitutional, which abolished de jure segregation (Healey, 2012, p. 233). During the civil rights movement there were many influential leaders such as Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King Jr. promoting nonviolent protests. Finally, in 1964 United States Congress passed the Civil Rights Act of 1964, outlawing discrimination based on race, color, religion, national origin, or sex. This act was only the beginning as our nation is still trying to eliminate discrimination completely. These important historical events have influenced past and current African Americans. Asian ... • 9. The Ones Who Walk Away From The Omelas By Ursula Le Guin A dream of ignorance The short story The ones who walk away from the Omelas by Ursula Le Guin does a great job of criticizing the flaws of a capitalist society. What this means is that she talks about how it has become a standard for someone to become happy at the expense of others. In order to demonstrate this she presents a society that guarantees eternal happiness at the expense of a single child who must suffer through it all. The characters are faced with two choices which would be to stay and accept the child s fate or to walk away and leave for the mountains. Both of these choices do not involve helping the child but rather abandoning it in both circumstances. This is a criticism of how people in reality typically treat those who are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Le Guin s exploitation of this in her writing gives us a clear indication of her intended audience. This once again justifies my theory as to why Omelas is based off of a dream she once had. What the dream did was remind of her that there are people out there suffering and being completely ignored. The fact that she contributed towards the continuation of such suffering ultimately inspired her to push for change in public awareness. An important method that Le Guin uses is to maintain respect by not acting angry to the general public. If she was calling out individuals disrespectfully then she herself would be subject to criticism as well. This is why she turns to writing due to past difficulties with public activism. While she did help influence a few people to help spread the word, she gained more public criticism as people found her too demanding(jstor.org). Therefore she switched to becoming an activist through writing literature. Switching through this method has helped gain widespread respect while further popularizing her cause. An interesting fact about this short and the poverty rate in the Unites States there seems to be a positive correlation in terms of reducing it. I cannot count the number of times I disobeyed my mom and instead of owning my actions I would say, he did it too, as I pointed to my brother. It is all too easy to justify sin when other people are joining us. For my whole life, my mom has responded to my bandwagon mentality, if they jump off a bridge are you going to too? In other words, don t just follow the crowd blindly. This summer I was reading through books in the Old Testament. When I got to 1 and 2 Kings, I saw a pattern of sin amongst the kings who ruled. Fair Trade On The Banana Industry Fair Trade in the Banana Industry The banana industry has been met with much hardship since its establishment, and Colombia is no stranger to those hardships. The total production in Colombia is estimated at 95 million boxes a year, generating around 700 million dollars in 2012. Banana represents 3.0% of Colombia s total exports and 6.0% of non traditional exports, which generates 0.4% of the country s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Colombian banana exporters are the third biggest in Latin America. In 2009, 24.21% of the production was sent to the United States and Canada, 62.26% to the European Union and 13.55% to other countries. The production of export bananas takes place in two different: UrabГЎ, and Santa Marta. Between 2009 and 2010, Colombia was reported as the country with the third highest Fairtrade income, with approximately $62 million USD. In order to maintain a high form of production, banana farmers would often neglect important matters such as environmental standards and human working conditions as the path to a cleaner farming and safer working conditions is not the most cost effective form of production. However, the integration of fair trade in the banana world has directly greatly modified the banana industry. After they had dispossessed the merchants and banks of the properties, Japanese authorities substituted domestic dollars for Japanese army yen; thus, Hong Kong currency was banned. The rate of exchange was settled at two Hong Kong dollars to one Japanese military yen. After a while, in July 1942, the yen was re prized at 4 Hong Kong dollars to 1 Japanese yen, which implied that native persons can exchange a smaller amount of military currency than before. The Japanese administration traded the Hong Kong dollar to facilitate the funding of their wartime economy, whereas the residents of Hong Kong became poor due to the enforced exchanges. Later in June 1943, yen was the only lawful tender for formal undertakings. The prices of goods and services for selling had to be in yen. Once shareholders became drawn to stocks because everyone else was buying, realistic valuations of stocks based on their earnings potential got crowded out by what Greenspan characterized in 1996 as В‘irrational exuberance . This kind of bull market is typically fuelled by cheap money and lots of debt. The low interest policy pursued by the Fed in the wake of the Asian crisis in 1997В–99 induced many investors to take out broker loans for additional stock purchases. With shares serving as collateral for those loans, rising stock prices enhanced the borrowing capacity of investors and so became a funding machine for the bull market. In addition, many firms took out a lot of debt to buy back their shares and so counter the dilution of stock ownership brought about by the extensive use of stock options as a new form of employee compensation. It is this interaction between debt and asset inflation which turns a reasonably bullish stock market into a speculative bubble. Such a bubble is, however, unsustainable. It will burst when the rosy expectations about future profits underlying those sky high stock market valuations turn out to have been unrealistic. As market sentiments shift and disappointed investors try to cash in their capital gains, selling waves ensue to push stock prices rapidly lower. However, when looking at population size as an indicator of whether blacks or indigenous groups gain collective rights, there is no direct correlation (Hooker, 2005). While it may be the case that population size is an important factor in elite decision making about collective rights, it does not explain the uneven scope of such rights won by blacks and Indians within and across countries (293). Following this logic, Bolivia, a largely indigenous country would not have the progressive indigenous recognition in comparison to other countries like Chile, where the indigenous population is much smaller. Hooker claims indigenous groups are more successful and gaining collective rights due to the view of indigenous groups as a distinct cultural group while Afro decedents are not seen as having a distinct culture, but rather a separate racial group (Hooker, 2005). • 23. Analyzing Dante s The Divine Comedy Part 1 How does Dante use metaphors/allegories as mechanisms for articulating his vision of Christian ethos? Consider how the work is structured and how punishment is meted out and his use of contrapasso. Durante degli Alighieri, usually referred to as Dante (1265 1321), was an Italian poet, moral philosophers, and political thinker best known for his epic poem La divina commedia. Essentially, The Divine Comedy describes Dante s journey through Hell, Purgatory, and Paradise guided at first by the Roman poet Virgil, and then by Beatrice, the subject of his undying love. In many ways, though, the poem is both a literary story of a journey and a commentary about the political and moral issues of the time; Christianity, royalty, privilege, class, and most certainly the concept of sin and the Devil. Besides being a treatise on the socio political climate of the time, Dante used the concept of Hell and Satan to explain human imperfection and a way to see another organization within the temporal world. Dante parodies the Trinity in the three parts of Satan, but also paints a mythology that became truth for many, and certainly part and parcel of modern popular culture. Satan in Dante s works is quite familiar to the mModern individual: demonic, able to possess a human s free will, lizard like but able to pretend, a liar, thief of sould, and the archenemy of God and all that is good in the universe (Anderson, 2010, 365 75). • 24. Evolution Of Sexual And Sexual Selection This article focuses on the evolution of sexual differences in insects. Intense sexual selection due to competition for mates is the main driving force behind the evolution of such variations. Males produce smaller and more numerous gametes than females and often competition between males is greater than that between females. It is suggested by the authors that the material contribution by each of sexes to the next generation is what determines the reproductive rate of the population. In an instances where one sexcontributes more to the reproduction and survival of the offspring than the other this sex will become the limiting factor for sexual selection, and will be subject to greater loss of fitness if an importer mate choice is made. In terms of contribution to offspring both male and femalecan provide care in various ways. The relative investment of each sex will determine the degree to which the one sex competes for the opposite one. The observed sexual differences proved a clue about the intensity of sexual selection in particular species. Usually females contribute more to the offspring care and are the limiting factor for sexual selection, as a result males exhibit more variations in secondary sexual characteristics in terms of morphology and behavior. In species that male provide more care the roles are reversed. Though direct care is not common in insects the males might contribute indirectly by protecting the female after mating as observed in several ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The mother went into detail on how much fun her experience was as a child. The husband corrects her on one of the animals that she had mistaken for something else. They then got into the discussion of certain elements of the circus. The topic of the circus soon changed to more recent, topics. The husband and wife connected again and the mother announced that the boys could go to the fair. She took into consideration how the father would feel and took up for him by saying that he earned his money by... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 38. Analysis Of Divergent As A Dystopian Film Respond critically to significant connections across texts, supported by evidence. Throughout all four of my dystopian films a strong theme that has been brought to the surface is the idea of individuality is the enemy . As a dystopian film is an illusion of the perfect society, they go hand in hand. The illusion of a perfect society is typically maintained through the use of corporate bodies and entities. Dystopian films are typical to play on the worst case scenario of a situation, within the four films studied Divergent, Macbeth, V for Vendetta and Mokingjay part 2, the worst case scenario is seen when the government takes control and citizens are under constant supervision or fear for their everyday lives. Within these dystopian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These are all themes that relate to homicides, people are generally killed when they have more power than someone else or they simply don t want to deal with the problem anymore. It is in this movie that we see Tris and Four defeat the system, they firstly defeat the system through their manner, the fact that they are able to confront their deepest fears and are able to see through the idea of a perfect society. Divergent s also work out that you don t need to be paired with people that share the mutual hate that you have towards another faction in this case. Tris and Four manipulate the system as they can see that the government has split up everyone so that they don t unite and combine all of their skill sets. This is why we see that the government purposely divides people to stop them from combining their skill sets and becoming more powerful than the government. Showing how Tris and four are feared to the government and displaying individuality is the enemy. This relates to the homicide rate in Chicago in the current world as the year that Tris and Four defeated the system the homicides in real life decreased. Showing that the homicide rate in Chicago was used as a draw point to establish themes throughout the movie. Through the use of editing within Divergent it is established that the relationships between the recruits and each other are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The results provided data with an increase in concentration of students while chewing gum. Introduction: Psychologist have tested the effect of gum many times but can t specifically find what makes gum a concentrating agent. Sugar free gum has the same effect as gum with sugar present. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Methods The first step in conducting the experiment was deciding who was going to be tested. The test included using four classes each of a different grade level to perform the color/concentration test on. Each student was given a notecard to document their: Name, Age, Gender, Grade, Score, and Time. The first test was fireworkspop.com/colortest which was the simpler of the two test. As students take the test monitor the room and answer any questions anyone has getting to the website. After completing the first test the students will then their first score on the note card and proceed to take the second color test on cognitivefun.net/test/2. the second color test was slightly different and could go on forever. Instruct the students to go to trial twenty one to get their results. The website gives the option to continue anonymously and the website calculates the score and gives the time it was completed in. The students wrote all their results before the note cards are taken up to be compiled into a graph. Let time go by before doing the experiment when the gum is included. The reason for waiting a while before doing the second portion of the test is so the subjects would not be expecting it, therefore they would not be prepared, making results more accurate. Splitting the class in half by numbers then again by gender, give each group one of two flavors of gum cinnamon ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Bourgeois s torn drivers license was found by a covered bridge on Shediac River, approximately 15 miles east of Moncton. Due to the fact that sunset had past the police decided to cordon off the area and await daylight to continue the search.8 The next morning at 8am the search resumed with the aid of tracking dogs. Within an hour police found the missing revolvers, radio, pick and shovel in the water downstream. At 2:15pm the searchers found the graves on a hill near the covered bridge and at 1:30pm on December 15th, 1974 the police carried their fallen officers out of the woods wrapped in blankets.9 It was later determined that Ambrose and Hutchinson drove the two officers to the secluded wooded area and forced them to dig their own graves and then shot each of them in the back of the head.10 Richard Ambrose 22 was already in custody at the time the bodies were recovered. • 42. Biography of Augustine the African Essay example Biography of Augustine the African Augustine was born in Tagaste (modern Souk Ahras, Algeria) in 354 and died almost seventy six years later in Hippo Regius (modern Annaba) on the Mediterranean coast sixty miles away. In the years between he lived out a career that seems to moderns to bridge the gap between ancient pagan Rome and the Christian middle ages. But to Augustine, as to his contemporaries, that gap separated real people and places they knew, not whole imaginary ages of past and future. He lived as we do, in the present, full of uncertainty. Augustine s African homeland had been part of Rome s empire since the destruction of Carthage five hundred years before his birth. Carthage had been rebuilt by Rome as the metropolis of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Augustine set out to make himself more Roman than the Romans and to penetrate to the center of the culture from which he found himself alienated by his provincial birth. But that was only the beginning of his story. Augustine was born on 13 November, A.D. 354, in Tagaste, a town large enough to have its own bishop but too small for a college or university.[[1]] His parents, Patricius and Monica, belonged to the financially imperilled middle class. They were well enough off to have educational ambitions for their son, but too poor to finance those ambitions themselves. The fourth century was an age of mixed marriages at this level of society, in which devout Christian women like Monica were often to be found praying for the conversion of their irreligious husbands. Her prayers were not unavailing; Patricius accepted baptism on his deathbed. Though Patricius offered no direct impulse towards Christianity for his son, he must not have been much more than a passive obstacle. Of Augustine s childhood we know only what he chooses to tell us in the highly selective memoirs that form part of the Confessions. He depicts himself as a rather ordinary sort of child, good at his lessons but not fond of school, eager to win the approval of his elders but prone to trivial acts of rebellion, quick to form close friendships but not always able to foresee their consequences. He studied Latin with some enthusiasm but never loved Greek. While he was leading what he wants us to think was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. The Black Church Essay During the years of slavery in America, slave associations were of great concern to slave owners. Many members of white society saw Black religious meetings as a threat to white existence. Despite this, slaves relied heavily on the churches, as they offered a kind of therapy for them, and as the slaves retained their faith in God, they found protection within their churches. Although the slaves practiced their religion, the white community did not always accept the slaves as Christians. An unknown slave said, The white folks would come in when the colored people would have prayer meeting, and whip every one of them. Most of them thought that when colored people were praying it was against them. However, not all of the Black churches share the same aspirations and strategies as others, with differences reflecting the communities in which the Black Churches reside. In The Negro Church, the sociologist E. Black churches are organized spiritually and politically, and they not only preach the teachings of Christianity but they also touch on the issues of which affect their members. Black churches have always been known to represent their community, religion, and home. Some scholars even say that Black history and the Black church overlap to the point that they are almost identical.
