The two stories that I am comparing are Rocktalker by Stuart Baum and All Summer In A Day by Ray
Bradbury. Rocktalker by Stuart Baum is about a girl named Lucy who talks to rocks. When she told
her classmates, they didn t believe her and she got bullied for a while. As she got older, she became
interested in an archeologist. She visited a college to hear his speech she listened to a rock which was
able to tell her the answer to a question the archeologist had. Later on, when she became an adult, she

explains with confidence what the rocks talk about and what she usually hears. This proves that Lucy
believes that she has an ability to talk to rocks. Margot and Lucy are similar in a way because they
both believe in something and that s what their role is throughout the entire story.
Another reason why I think Lucy and Margot are similar are that they both get bullied. In All Summer
In A Day Margot gets bullied by this one boy named William, and in Rocktalker Lucy gets bullied by

Given the arguments in my second seminar paper on Socratic citizenship, the comparison between
Plato s Guardians and Aristotle s men of practical wisdom seems to be a reasonable one. Both
Guardians and men of practical wisdom operate relatively freely in a moral system of substantive
justice, with little reference to fixed principles. Plato s discussion of democracy in the Republic and of
obedience in the Crito, however, makes clear that he did not believe regular individuals could operate
virtuously in interstitial spaces between fixed rules and principles. Plato feared a democratic
expansion of liberty which would allow each citizen to pursue a way of life to suit himself, as this
would unleash a torrent of subjectivism and a bastardization of virtue. As such, his ideal Republic
employed absolute rule of the Guardians, noble lies and temperance (read disinterest in political
participation ) to close the interstitial spaces which would allow the clumsy subjectivism of the lower
classes to operate. Emancipated from the rule of the Guardians, the democratic man cannot control his
desires and sows the seeds of tyranny. Plato seems convinced that the democratic expansion of

In 1492, one of the most important exchanges in our history began. At that time, there was a need for
spices and tradable goods and supplies. There were some people who just wanted a direct route to the
trade supply in Asia, and there were others who wanted wealth or to spread the word of God.
Christopher Columbus believed that the world was in fact round, but he was unaware the actual size of
the planet. He sailed west in search of the East Indies, however he reached the Caribbean Islands of
the Americas instead. By this accidental encounter with the foreign islands and people, Christopher
started the Columbus exchange. The exchange was widespread throughout Europe, Africa and the
Americas around the 15th and 16th centuries. In the trade, many things were introduced to all three
continents. Examples of those things were ideas, people, plants, animals, technology, etc. The
exchange affected the Old World and the New World very differently. Europe had definitely benefited
the most, while others weren t quite so lucky.
Europe had been affected by the Columbian Exchange greatly. They had gained so much from it.
Potatoes, maize (corn), pumpkins, turkey, vanilla, cocoa and many other foods were introduced to
Europe through the exchange. With these new foods, the europeans diets improved tremendously.

New York, the Pentagon, and a fourth plane that did not make it to its destination, hit the ground in
