CURRICULAR STATEMENT
Develop factual, conceptual, procedural, metacognitive knowledge, process skills and attitude on Cell Organelles through
lecture method demonstration, group discussion and evaluation by questioning, participating in group work and discussion.
CONTENT ANALYSIS
NEW TERMS:
Cell organelle, cell wall, cell membrane, nucleus, enoplasmic recticulum, mitochondria, ribosomes, golgi apparatus, lysosomes,
granules, vacuoles, centrosome.
FACTS:
 The outer covering of a cell is called the cell membrane.
 The cytoplasm is a jelly-like fluid which fills up the part of the cell between the cell membrane and the nucleus.
 It has several organelles embedded in it.
 Some of the organelles may be present only in plant cells and is not in animal cells and vice versa,
 Golgi apparatus are made up of tubules, vesicles and vacuoles.
 Ribosomes are small granules scattered all over the cytoplasm.
 Mitochondria are tiny spherical or rod like bodies.
 Vacuoles are fluid filled spaces enclosed in a membrane.
 Endoplasmic recticulum is a network of tubules and channels.
 Centrosome is located near the nucleus in animal cells.
 Plastids are scattered colored bodies in the cytoplasm.
 Lysosomes are present in animal cell.
 Lysosomes contains enzymes that are capable of digesting cells and a variety of intra and extra-cellular materials.
2
CONCEPTS
MINOR CONCEPTS
 The living part of the cell that have definite shape, structure, and function are called organelles.
 Some of the cell organelles may be present only in plant cells and not in animal cells and vice versa.
MAJOR CONCEPT
 The cytoplasm of a cell is composed of many living and non living parts called organelles.
