Name of the supervising teacher: Smt Rajashree.k Standard: IX
Subject: Biology Strength: 38/41
Unit: Circulatory pathways Duration: 40 minutes
Lesson unit: a study tour to respiratory system Date: 26/10/2015
CURRICULAR STATEMENT
In developing a basic knowledge regarding the structure of human respiratory system with
the help lecture cum demonstration method .
I. CONTENT ANALYSIS
NEW TERMS Larynx,epiglottis, bronchi, bronchioles,alveoli
FACTS Air enters the respiratory system through nasal opening.
Then pass through the nasal cavity and pharynx.
Then enters the begining portion of trachea called larynx.
Then air pass through bronchi and bronchioles .
Finally air reach the alveoli.
2. Teacher activity Pupil activity
Students today we are going to conduct a one day tour
to ramu’s respiratory system.
Are you ready?
Outside the classroom there is a bus, you have to enter
in to that bus, inside the bus there are some jackets
named air, that jacket is nessesary for the easy entry in
to our destination point.
(Bus reached the destination point and all the students
and the teacher come near to the entry point.)
Listen students we have two ways to get entry in to
this place, one is the main way named nasal opening
and the other is a short cut way named mouth.
Which way you want to choose?
Ok good, we have choosed the main way. we can
enter in to it through 2 round shaped doors.
Look carefully around this way, you can now find
some jelly like substances and some bristles (mucus
and hair), they are the gate keepers , they will check
us. but nobody need not to fear about it , because we
are not germs, so they will not restrict us.
Ok our checking is over.
Next we have to pass a short cavity i.e nasal cavity.
that lead us to a common place named pharynx
where the 2 gateways comes to meet.
Yes
Students wearing the jackets
Main way
Students enters in to the
room
Teacher a jelly like
substance stick on my hand
what is that?
Children are closing their
nose due to some bad smell.
3. Children, next we have to travel downward.
Be carefull, don’t fall, there are some ridges. Now all
of you needs to balance yourself to avoid falling due
to vibration in this area, the name of this area is the
vocal cord it is responsible for the production of
sound.
Once you have reached the second door all of you
needs to wait there.
Here comes the demand of air jacket ,its presence
helps to open the door epiglottis.
Second door opened
Students now we can see a long tunnel like path it is
the trachea
Need not to fear, please go slowly and stop at the
division point of the tunnel.
Now can you see two branches?
These are the brochi. The view inside the two bronchi
are same. Which way you prefer to go?
No these are the further divisions called bronchioles,
you need not to worry.
These are the alveoli they have some close
friends, they are commonly referred to as blood
vessels.
Once we have reached here we need to give this air
(students waiting)
Teacher how dark this area
is?
yes
right way
( students enters in to it)
Teacher I think it is an
endless route.
Teacher now I can find some
grapes what is that?
Teacher I want to see them.
4. jacket to the blood inside the vessel. Beyond this we
have no entry.
So for our return journey we need to wait here for
getting another jacket its name is Co2.
Yes the jackets come let’s go.
Consolidation
Air enters the respiratory system through nasal opening.
Then pass through the nasal cavity and pharynx.
Then enters the begining portion of trachea called larynx.
Then air pass through bronchi and bronchioles .
Finally air reach the alveoli.
Activity
Teacher show the picture of human respiratory system.
Students observing the
picture.
5. Enrichment activity
Make a report on one day tour to ramu’s respiratory system.
Activity
Share your experiences of the one day tour to ramu’s
respiratory system.
Students sharing their
experiences.
