INNOVATIVE LESSON PLAN
Name of the teacher trainee: GAYATHRI G S Name of the institution : BNV HSS for
Girls,Thiruvallam
Name of the supervising teacher: Smt. RAJASHREE.K Class : 8 A
Subject : Biology Strength : 46
Unit : 1. Life’s mysteries in little chamber Medium : English
Lesson plan : Ingredients of cell – The Cell Organelles Date : 27/10/2015
Board : SCERT Time : 40 minutes
Curricular Statement : In developing Factual, Conceptual, Procedural
and Metacognitive dimensions regarding cell organelles through lecture cum
demonstration and brain storming and evaluated by oral questioning and
checking science diary.
2
Content Analysis
New terms : Mitochondria, Golgi Complex, Endoplasmic reticulum, Plastid,
Ribosome, Lysosome,Centrosome, Vacuole
Facts : Mitochondria are the power house of the cell.
 It helps in the productionand storage of energy.
 Abundantly seen in cells of liver, brain and muscles where
energy requirement is high.
Endoplasmic reticulum conducts materials inside the cell.
 It provides firmness and shape to the cells hence also
called as cytoskeleton of the cell.
Ribosomes are the centre of protein synthesis in the cell.
 It is seen either attached to the endoplasmic reticulum or
free in the cytoplasm.
Vacuoles store water, salts, excretory materials etc.
 It is covered by a characteristic membrane called tonoplast.
 In plant cells it is large in size
 In animal cells it is temporary and usually small in size
Golgi Complex or Golgi Apparatus collects cell secretions like
enzymes, hormones, mucous etc., in small vesicles.
 Seen in plenty in glandular cells
Lysosomes contain degradative enzymes enclosed in a membrane.
 It is hence called suicidal bag of the animal cell.
Plastids are seen in plants.
 It is responsible for activities related to making and storing
food
Centrosomes are seen in animals.
 It is the place where cell microtubules get organized
3
Concept : Cell organelles in plants and animals
OBJECTIVES
Cognitive domain : - To understand, analyze and evaluate the roles and
importance of cell organelles.
- To apply the attained knowledge regarding cell
organelles to create an innovation based on it.
PsychomotorDomain : To develop Skills in making models of cell organelles.
Affective Domain : To Appreciate God for such creations.
Pre requisite : Structure of cell
Aids used : - Model showing the structure of a cell
- PowerPoint showing pictures and roles of cell
organelles

RESPONSE
Introduction
Goodmorning children !
Do you all like having mixture?
What are the things you could see in a mixture..?
Very good.
So all these constitute the real taste of mixture , right?
So in a cell will there be any constituent like this, which may
add the real property to the cell ?
Ok. Today let us check about that, ok ?
‘’ CELL ORGANELLES ‘’ (BB)
Good morning
teacher

There are many number of cell organelles in a cell. It
constitutes Mitochondria, Golgi Complex, Endoplasmic
reticulum, Plastid, Ribosome, Lysosome,Centrosome,
Vacuole .
Pupil are keenly
observing the

Do you know the roles of each organelles ?
Don’t you wish to know about it?
Ok.let’s check it.
Teacher shows a PowerPoint focusing cell organelles and its
role
No

ACTIVITY 3
Students, don’tyou all like Cookeryshow?
So today I am planning to conducta competition to find out
the Masterof Chef in this class. Let me see who will attain
that Title. Are you ready?
Ok. You have to prepare 2 dishes, Animal cell dish and Plant
cell dish. For that I shall give you a mixture of ingredients.
Let me see who will prepare the dishes using correct
ingredients. Shall we go?
Ok. It will be for 10 minutes and your time starts now.
Yes
Yes we are ready
Sure

TEACHER ACTIVITY PUPIL
RESPONSE
Ingredients
Students are
clearly noting the
ingredients from
the mixture for
preparing both
dishes
10
TEACHER ACTIVITY PUPIL
RESPONSE
Consolidation
Teacher appreciated those who made boththe dishes perfectly
and found the Title winner among them. Selection was done
based on less error and minimum time consumption.
Later on she consolidated the process ofpreparing the dishes.
Students are
preparing the
dishes

Ribosomes are the centre of protein synthesis in the cell.(BB) It is seen either attached to the endoplasmic reticulum or free in the cytoplasm. Vacuoles store water, salts, excretory materials etc.(BB) It is covered by a characteristic membrane called tonoplast. In plant cells it is large in size. In animal cells it is temporary and usually small in size Golgi Complex or Golgi Apparatus collects cell secretions like enzymes, hormones, mucous etc., in small vesicles.(BB) Seen in plenty in glandular cells Lysosomecontain degradative enzymes enclosed in a membrane.(BB) It is hence called suicidal bag of the animal cell. Plastids are seen in plants.(BB) It is responsible for activities related to making and storing food Centrosome are seen in animals.(BB) It is the place where cell microtubules get organized. Pupils are hearing the facts silently
