Business Pain & Requirement
• Contract deliverables as introduced in LN 10.2 aimed at Engineered To
Order and standard items
• Not possible to use configurable items for contract deliverables
• Our customers expressed the need to also be able to use LN

Solution: overview

the Configure to Order scenario: configurable items can be used for
contract deliverables
• Both the classic LN configurator (PCF) and the advanced configurator
(PCM) can be used

Terminology
• Configurable Item:
• An item that has features and options and must be configured before any activities
can be performed on it. If the configurable item is generic, a new item is created
after configuration

Editor's Notes

  • #2 Version: August 29, 2014
  • #4 Even though the focus for most customers would be on ETO and standard items configurable items still are part of the business. Missing out on this option was restricting the usefulness of the LN Project contract capabilities.
  • #7 Example with launcher is relatively simple. Possibly adjust based on line of business and replace with something matching.
  • #8 Example with car is generic but maybe confusing for some industries.
  • #9 Only configurable items of supply source Shop Floor are allowed. PCS needs to be No while ordering policy is To Order. The configuration of a contract deliverable need not be done immediately after creating the line. It can be done at any time. However the deliverable line cannot be activated if no configuration has been done and the line not turned into a ‘normal’ item.
  • #11 Note: schedule lines will always be for the same variant.
