INTRODUCTION
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SCECO AND
SAUDI ELECTRICITY COMPANY (SEC)?
The first SCECO (SCECO-East) was created in 1976 (1396/97
AH). This was followed in 1979 (1399/1400 AH) by SCECO-
South. Electricity for the south west of the Kingdom is
provided by another consolidated company, and the central
region is served by SCECO-Central.
The General Electricity Corporation (GEC) had overall
responsibility for the Kingdom's electricity system and had a
direct responsibility for the provision of electrical supplies to
rural areas not then covered by the consolidated companies.
The GEC represented the government equity holdings in all
the independent electricity generating companies and was a
source of finance for those companies' capital requirements.
In 1998, the Government announced the reorganization of
the electricity sector by establishing a stock market company,
named the Saudi Electric Company, through the merger of all
the electricity companies operating in the Kingdom.

STANDARD TO BE APPLIED
What is TES-P-119.25, R.1?
 The TES-P-119.25 is the Saudi Electric Company’s
Engineering Standard for Substation Yard and Building
Lighting System
 It specifies guidelines in design, selection and installation
of energy efficient lighting equipment
 It covers Yard (Outdoor) Lighting and Security Lighting for
SEC Substations guidelines
 It covers also Building (Indoor) Lighting and Emergency
Lighting guidelines
 It specifies the selection of Lamps and Luminaire Fixtures
 It dictates the Illumination Level as well as Method of
calculating Lux on every Room and Area.
 It has been revised last January 31, 2012 where they
changed the Standard LV system and LED lamp
requirements was also introduced as an option to the
conventional lamps

COURSE DESCRIPTION
Course Definition
A crash course & hands-on training for properly interpreting the guidelines of
TES-P-119.25.R1 in selecting and designing the lighting system for SCECO
Substations that will cover indoor, emergency, outdoor & security lighting
and finally providing a detailed and systematic output report with the use of
DIALux 4.11 as the lighting calculation software.
Course Approach
 We shall use an actual
SCECO substation project
as a case study
 We shall focus only on the
Lighting part that is found
in TES-P-119.25.R1
 Each participant is
encouraged to follow along
to be able to familiarize
with the process
 A how-to and a checklist
will be provided to each so
no one will be at lost at
every step of the way

March 6, 2015, 1:00PM Lighting Application Design Supervisor White Palace Hotel DIALux Accredited Trainer, ID 2013029 IIEE-CRCSA INTRODUCTION WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SCECO AND SAUDI ELECTRICITY COMPANY (SEC)? The first SCECO (SCECO-East) was created in 1976 (1396/97 AH). This was followed in 1979 (1399/1400 AH) by SCECO- South. Electricity for the south west of the Kingdom is provided by another consolidated company, and the central region is served by SCECO-Central. The General Electricity Corporation (GEC) had overall responsibility for the Kingdom's electricity system and had a direct responsibility for the provision of electrical supplies to rural areas not then covered by the consolidated companies. The GEC represented the government equity holdings in all the independent electricity generating companies and was a source of finance for those companies' capital requirements. In 1998, the Government announced the reorganization of the electricity sector by establishing a stock market company, named the Saudi Electric Company, through the merger of all the electricity companies operating in the Kingdom.
