How Did Mexican Culture Influence Their Arts During The...
During the time of post revolution in the 1920 s, Mexico underwent an enormous transformation from
a mostly rural society to a largely industrialized and modern society. The various opinions of the
Mexican people and their modernized culture can be put into perspective by the artistic expression of
three famous artist Diego Rivera, José Clemente Orozco, and David Alfaro Siqueiros. They began a
movement with wall paintings that focused on the political and social conditions in Mexico during the
1920 s and gave an in depth story of their point of view through their art. This essay will discuss a
moderate overview of the impacts and influences of their art during the 1920 s.
The Mexican Revolution began in 1910 with a political revolt against the tyrannical president Porfirio
Diaz. The civil war was led by a number of charismatic individuals whose personal political agendas
often determined the path of the decade long revolution. Accompanied by a group of intellectual
radicals, political leaders began to discuss a noticeable movement inspired by the revolution. In the

Some of these artists spent time in Europe before the revolution, and became well acquainted with the
European realism movement in which artists used painting to demonstrate the immoderate conditions
of the oppressed working classes. Many of the artists involved were ardent socialists or communists,
believing in the power of the working classes and in the equal distribution of wealth. While the mural
project commissioned numerous artists from across the country, the influence and prominence of
Orozco, Rivera, and Siqueiros was so great that their work became the face of the movement. Each
had a different personality, philosophy, style, wide range of influence, and a well developed survey on
Mexican muralism that was visible in their

Why Dogs Are Important Pets
Major Important Essay
Dogs are really important pets. I think that they are important to our survival for many reasons. These
reasons are that they keep us healthy, protect us and can even discover disease.
Dogs help keep us healthy. According to Celia, walking a dog can help keep you heart healthy. A dog
requires an owner to work out and this creates health benefits. Just walking into a room can bring your
stress level down. This helps keeps you healthy. Dogs provide lots of benefits and can even keep us
safe.
They can save our lives too. A dog named Kelsey saved her owner Bob s life when he slipped and fell
into the snow in Michigan. Kelsey layed on Bob and kept him warm for over 19 hours and barked all
night. She barked and barked until

Child Neglect 2
Abstract
Study results found evidence that the apparent negative effects of maltreatment on children s tendency
to engage in crime were real. Being maltreated was found to almost double the probability of engaging
in many types of crime and the effects were worst for children. Sexual abuse appeared to have the
largest effects on crime. This paper focuses on the effect of child maltreatment and neglect. The study
examined the effects of different types of abuse and the effect of child neglect.
For many decades, the act of child abuse has been a major problem in or society. ... Show more

Children who have been neglected are prone to internalizing problems such as low self esteem,
depression, social withdrawal, apathy, and helplessness. They are often delayed in their cognitive and
language development and have poor communication skills. They have difficulty with interpersonal
relationships. In the longer term neglected children lack the ability to participate fully in society as
adults.
An estimated half of the maltreatment fatalities are attributable to childhood neglect. Childhood
maltreatment accidents are most often the result of a single life threatening incident. This makes their
prediction, and therefore prevention, extremely difficult.
During the course of this literature search it became apparent that child abuse and neglect have
become fused into a single entity, as if describing one phenomenon. In fact most research focuses on
abuse. As a result it has become commonplace in child protection research to refer to the neglect of
neglect . A search of Psyc INFO published in the five years to December 2004 revealed 3888 entries
for child abuse but only 57 that concentrated specifically on neglect.
If neglect were defined in terms of harm to the child, there is no longer the need for the subjective
interpretation of parental intention (Connell Carrick, 2003). However, the same behavior and the same
harm done to children may be judged differently depending on how the intentions of the parents are
perceived.

What Are The Qualities Of Ramayaa
(Burns Avolio, 1994). Rama exhibits all the traits identified by researchers as that of a
transformational leader. He as the eldest and most suitable of the four sons of Dasharatha has been
earmarked for the kingship form the beginning. The King his father makes no secret of his wishes to
see Rama in the throne. The sages Viswamitra, who takes Rama and Lakshmana on a sort of tour of
duty to conquer some rakshasas who were creating havoc among the gentle tapasas , the raj guru(
royal teacher), the ministers all agree that Rama is the ideal candidate for being crowned as the future
king. The people of Ayodya loved Rama and were overjoyed at the news of his coronation. Yet, when
the king is coerced into ordering him to forsake all that and banish him to spend fourteen years in the
forest, he accepts without any protest. He calms down the outrage of his brother and the courtiers on
his behalf. When the people follow him to the forest, he asks them to go back and live as ideal
citizens. He creates a vision for Ayodya and charges the people to make their lives mission. The clarity

Change based on utilitarian principles, for the better good of the maximum people, is brought about
when the rule of Kishkhinda is taken from Bali and given to Sugreeva and that of Lanka from a power
hungry Ravana to the better statesman Vibheeshana. Both Bali and Ravana were exceptional
individuals in their own rights, learned and capable. So the question arises whether Rama s
compliance and complicity in their removal is ethical. The answer to that is when the moral fiber of a
leader is corrupted it will result in the downfall of his organization also. So in the larger interest of the
people it was necessary to bring down these two rulers. Rama presides over the change process

The Virtue Of Order By The Reaction From The Crowd
I was disappointed not only by the difficulty of adhering to the moral virtues, but also by the reaction
from the crowd. I have now experienced the world differently, and should hope to be more fit to
follow the virtues. I have grown older, and the the world has too, so it is logical that the virtues I
mentioned previously should need to be modified.
Many virtues such as Sincerity and Cleanliness, two moral virtues which I had no trouble
accomplishing the previous time, remain applicable today. However, the virtue of Order was a bit
troublesome, so I have decided to morph it into the virtue of Planning, for one cannot, however
frustratingly, obtain complete control over the will of another. Planning in combination with
Resolution seem to account for Order. Temperance and Moderation have been combined into just
Moderation for they were awfully similar in my first experiment. I have decided to keep the other
virtues, with new meanings which ought to do a better job at describing each one then previously, and
a more lengthy explanation as to why the definition has been changed in the way it has.
The revised virtues, the new precept, and my explanation of the change are now:
Moderation Compromise by finding the middle ground; avoid the extreme. This is a mixture of
Temperance and the original Moderation virtues. I feel satisfied with their original definitions, but I
think they were too similar. This new definition takes the better half of each definition to try to be

Persuasive Essay On School Shootings
School shootings strike into the heart of every American. The thought of innocent students, young
with limitless potential, being mercilessly mowed down wrenches one s heart. Yet these events
continue to happen. What could possibly drive a person to commit such a horrifying act? That single
question has created a fierce debate over the causes of school shootings and what should be done to
stop them. The many possible causes include lax gun control laws, poor mental health services,
poverty, culture, psychological thresholds, and even masculinity. They touch on sensitive political
issues that cause intense division. This divisiveness has prevented any federal action from being taken
to directly address the problem. However, it is important to set aside differences and to act in a
pragmatic manner. Although some may not like it, it is clear that the increasing number of school
shootings in the US is caused by a combination of weak gun control laws, and toxic masculinity. Guns
are created to kill. They have been used in many mass shootings and in overwhelming cases, in school
shootings. The crowdedness of school campuses make them lethal. It is also no secret that the United
States is the wild west when it comes to guns. According to Samantha Gupta from the Harvard
Political Review, American civilians own an astounding 270 million guns, more than the civilians of
the 21 other countries that had school shootings own combined. That is enough guns to give 84% of
the population one each. This is caused by lax gun control laws and the loopholes that exist within
them. The failure of the US government to implement universal background checks and bans on
certain types of guns and ammunitions have allowed potentially dangerous people access to lethal
weapons. And these people wreak havoc. From Gupta again, Out of all these countries that have
experienced a school shooting in the given time period, the average number of school shootings per
firearm per capita is 0.111; America s average is over five times higher.
Often, detractors will point to countries like Switzerland that have high levels of gun ownership yet
have almost no school shootings. While the Swiss do have many guns, they are not allowed to possess

A Brief Note On The Water Treatment Systems
Water treatment systems The groundwater source is from GoldCentury gold mine, whereby excess
groundwater is pumped out of mine at a maximum volumetric flow rate of 477L/s. It contains
contaminants such as volatile organic compounds (VOCs), heavy metal impurities, sulphates,
bicarbonates, microorganisms, dissolved minerals and objectionable gases, but focuses on the removal
of dissolved inorganic contaminants such as calcium and iron. The most prevalent dissolved minerals
which are Calcium and Magnesium, also known as hardness, can be removed by precipitation,
requiring softening steps. The purification system designed is based more on efficiency over cost
effectiveness. The purpose of treating the groundwater in this assignment, is to purify it to drinking
standards to hydrate mineworkers underground during heated, intense mine work operations, and for
operating certain equipment and tools. Figure 1: Mine groundwater treatment plant schematic Figure 1
shows the following unit operations: A settling tank is installed to allow large particles such as to settle
so that they can easily be removed. The retention time is around 30 minutes or 0.5 hours. Aeration
removes excess and objectable gases. A packed tower stripping system is used which removes 99.95%
(or 179.91mg/L) of VOCs. This process also reduces the pH of the water and has a retention time of
22.716 minutes (0.3786hr). Chemical precipitation is performed on larger molecules which make up

Clara Harris play in the assassination of Abraham Lincoln? Clara Harris was born on September 9,
1834 in Albany, New York. She was one of the four children of Senator Ira Harris, his first wife was

Parking Restrictions For A Condominium
What every Condominium Association needs to know about Parking Restrictions
The enforcement of parking restrictions is one of the most problems that condominium associations
and property managers are forced to deal with. In densely packed urban areas, parking spaces are
often at premium in condominiums and issues arise when co owners fail to park in their designated
areas. In contrast, suburban site condominiums with single family homes often face parking issues
related to parking boats, commercial vehicles or inoperable vehicles in driveways or on the street.
Accordingly, given the vast array of potential parking issues that can arise in a condominium,
condominium associations and property managers need to be prepared to ... Show more content on

While the Michigan Condominium Act does not have any specific provisions that regulate parking,
MCL 559.156(a) states that the condominium bylaws may contain provisions that are deemed
appropriate for the administration of the condominium project not inconsistent with this act or any

condominium bylaws allow for the condominium board to adopt reasonable rules and regulations that

Gastrointestinal Illness Caused By The Species
Cryptosporidiosis is one of the most known gastrointestinal illness caused by the genus of
Cryptosporidium. Cryptosporidiosis, according to the CDC, has become one of the most common
causes of waterborne diseases in the United States, with outbreaks increasing annually. An outbreak of
Cryptosporidiosis, in Milwaukee in 1993 affected around 400,000 people and was traced to the city s
water supply (NFID, 2008). The most common symptom associated with this disease is Diarrhea.
Pathophysiology
Cryptosporidiosis is an infection caused by the spore forming protozoan known as Cryptosporidia
(Jacqueline, 2015). Protozoa are a group of parasites that infect the human intestine. Parasites are

The most known cause or reason that you can get Cryptosporidiosis is by digesting contaminated
water, but also it can be spread by humans through sexual behavior (Jacqueline, 2015). A person can
get infected with Cryptosporidiosis by digesting contaminated water, this can occur through drinking
or swimming in infected water, swallowing or putting something infected in the mouth (such as
fingers), being exposed to human feces through sexual contact , or by eating uncooked food (such as
salad greens) that has been contaminated (John et al. 2012). Most people who experience significant
symptoms from Cryptosporidiosis have an altered immune system, and suffer from diseases such as
AIDS and cancer (Jaqueline, 2015). Due to a protective outer shell, Cryptosporidium can live outside
of the body for several months and are very resistant to the chlorine based disinfectants that are often
used to treat water sources (GEEH, 2013).
Clinical Manifestation Cysts of Cryptosporidia mature in the intestine and bile ducts within three to
five days of ingestion. Many individuals are infected without any illness, but the major symptom of
Cryptosporidiosis is diarrhea, which is often watery. Also some other symptoms you may have with
this disease are Dehydration, low grade fever, nausea, and abdominal cramps (Jaqueline, 2015). The
people who contract Cryptosporidiosis and have a normal immune

Monologue Of Caroline
Caroline, my dear friend, took ME to a theater performance. The main theme was that people were
supposed to act like they were rich. Caroline said : WOW! Have you seen that girl s dress?! It is
GORGEOUS! she said. No, I haven t. Where is she? It is right there! as she pointed her. She was red
headed with dark eyes. She looked like she was pale because of the lights, on the stage, but she really
wasn t, because, at the end of the show, we all had a chance to meet the actors, and talk with them, get
a picture, and know them a little better, so Caroline went to go see her and we both saw that her skin
was a little darker than we thought it would ve be.
On the stage, there was the king, the queen, and the Prince Charming, which he was supposed to be
the One that everybody loved, and the at the end of the performance, only one girl, over 35 will
remain to be with him forever and ever, and they shall build a family and live in the same city and not

A Case Study of One Student s Approach to Reading The Divine Image
Hypothesis
When Marielle, an English 2 student, was given a series of critical thinking tasks, her first response to
the poem, The Divine Image, by William Blake changed as she followed the direction of each task and
built on her previous understanding of the poem. I describe her responses to the eight learning paper
tasks and her dissection of the poem for hidden meanings.
The Tasks and Various Interpretations
For each learning paper, Marielle was given eight different ways to interpret
The Divine Image, by William Blake. Learning paper 1 asked her to read the poem out loud, write
down any ideas that came to mind, then write a summary of what the ... Show more content on

For learning paper 2, she had to reread the poem, then detect and define key words that made a strong
impact on her. What Marielle did was define some of the words she felt were strong Mercy, Pity, Love
and Peace. She then reread the poem and was asked to reinterpret it. After she identified key words,
she felt that this poem is trying to reinforce the importance of being kind to others and treating them as
God would. Mercy, Pity Peace and Love are being reinforced as necessary human qualities. She
looked up the literal meanings of the key words, wrote them down, and added comments next to the
definitions. After defining and commenting on these key words, her opinion differed.
I am able now to see the correlation between the title the Divine Image and the song itself. The divine
image is expressed in its human form through the actions and feelings of Mercy, Pity, Peace and Love.
The Divine Image is referring to God, humans can be Godlike by performing these four feelings and
actions.
She now felt that humans were considered Divine only if they use Mercy, Pity, Peace and Love. In the
beginning, though, she felt that one had to treat others with the same respect like God and that the
characteristics were simply important for humans. Even though her opinion changed, she didn t use
the dictionary s literal meanings to write a translation of the poem, rather she constructed her version
of the poem with the words of the

Pro Self Driving Essay
Hello I m your host Ben Bush and today we will be discussing the pro/ con issues of the self driving
car. First off this is a new concept and just think, would you trust a car that drives without human
control? It s a strange question but with companies like Uber using these self driving cars for their
business the concept of self driving cars is no longer just an idea for the future, it s quite apparent that
it s a current event. Cons, most likely the more important part of this issue is the safety of the
passengers and other drivers. These cars have been known to cut off busses and make incomplete
stops at stop signs. The safety of these cars is often criticized but even if they do make a few mistakes
is it better than the average human driving?

Truss Design Project Essay
Summary
We have designed a truss to support a point load, placed at 190mm from the edge of a 450mm gap.
The vertical face of the trusses is modelled on the already established K truss design, but the overall
shape of the structure is our own. There are three K units on each truss. The two vertical faces are held
together at the top by another truss like design. We modelled this on the N truss.
The truss is constructed from hot dog sticks, glue and bolts.
Introduction
The task was to construct a truss out of 48 hot dog sticks and 30 bolts to support as large a point load
as possible. It was to span a gap of 450mm and to support a load placed at 190mm from the end. The
truss may have a maximum depth beneath the supports of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We began with a simplified curve and flat bottom, but discovered that a slightly curved bottom
distributed the weight more evenly to the truss. The maximum and minimum points of these curves
were best positioned at the point of loading, 190mm from one end.
The more curved the truss, and the greater the number of K units, the more evenly the weight is
distributed. However, the truss structure is limited by the weight of the hot dog sticks used. For this
reason, there are only two K units on the 190mm side, and three on the 270mm side. We have
optimised weight distribution, given the constraint of the weight limit.
The direction in which the Ks point is important. A better distribution of weight can be obtained when
the top diagonal branch of the K points down towards the closest end of the truss. We changed the
design accordingly.
The point where the diagonal members meet on the vertical member of each K affects the weight
distribution. We found that the higher this point is made, the lower the forces in the members.
At first we limited the total length of a member to the length of one popsicle stick; however, by
modelling the centre length as a single member in pure tension, we were able to increase the length of
this member to make the truss stronger.
Since a single hot dog stick can only support an average tension force of 230N and compression load
of not more than 25N, we used the

Chivalry in Edmund Burke s Reflections on the Revolution...
Chivalry in Edmund Burke s Reflections on the Revolution in France
...But the age of chivalry is gone...
Amidst a wealth of metaphors and apocalyptic maxims, this line is perhaps the most memorable from
Edmund Burke s Reflections on the Revolution in France. He masterfully employs the concept of
chivalry to express his anti revolutionary sentiment, and he dramatically connects it to images of land,
sex, birth and money to express the widespread disorder that accompanies a loss of chivalry. Nowhere
is this idea more explicit than in the following passage:
... But the age of chivalry is gone. That of sophisters, oeconomists,
and calculators, has succeeded and the glory of Europe is extinguished for
ever. Never, never more, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What it does imply is that the glory and bond of Europe as a conglomerate in which England and
France are leaders may have been severed.
Furthermore, it is unlikely that Burke believes either of the aforementioned statements. Subsequent
lines in the essay like, ...we still bear the stamp of our forefathers and We have not (as I conceive) lost
the generosity and dignity of the fourteenth century... suggest that English society still clings to its
heritage and manners to some extent (18). Additionally, one cannot overlook the prophetic nature of
Burke s claims; he predicts what will happen if chivalry is lost. He and the reader both recognize that
chivalry survives at least in the minds of men and sometimes even in the practice of men (like Burke
who acts chivalrous by defending chivalry), but also because Burke s motivation for writing his essay
would be significantly diminished if the revivification of chivalry were an impossibility. Similarly, if
he truly believed that the glory of Europe were gone forever and the ties permanently severed, it is less
likely that he would choose a Frenchman as the recipient of his philosophical letter.
To comprehend Burke s argument based on chivalry, one must ascertain the meaning that chivalry
holds for him. The language of the passage at hand unveils terms such as loyalty, dignified obedience
and proud

Excessive release of this chemical leads to sleeplessness that affects normal human cycle. This
contributes immensely to regular and sustained burnouts due to sleep deprivation (Seib, Whiteside,
Humphrey, Lee, Thomas, Chopin, ... Anderson, 2014). Additionally, catecholamines affect the frontal
region of the brain, which is instrumental in short term and long term memories (King, Lloyd Holewa,
2008). This leads to poor memory and retention capacity. Acute stress tends to have a long term
mental health impact that affects multiple regions.
The second response mechanism towards stress is by the heart, circulatory system and the lungs (Seib
et al., 2014; Wells, 2013). Uncontrolled release of metabolic signals leads to poor digestion and
absorption of bear. As the concentration of bear increases, the heart beat increases to try and distribute
the concentration of bear to other parts of the body, which leads to an increase in blood pressure (Seib
et al., 2014; Wells, 2013). To country oxygen demand, the breathing system suddenly increases as the
lungs take in as much oxygen as they possibly can to satisfy its shortage in the blood stream (Wells,
2013). On the other hand, the spleen increases discharge of white and red blood cells to ensure that
more blood cells are available to transport excess oxygen throughout the circulatory system. Research

There are some interesting things I see here is this prim root definition of accuser which is the Greek
word Egeiro. This is a verb where you can see much action taking place. I will take you behind the
scenes into the unseen realm and explain what God has revealed to me that this is.
Here you have Satan who is aroused from sleep. Something caused him to arise. He was lying down at
our feet because of the blood of Jesus in which we have forgiveness of sin, subdued and rendered
powerless. For example, when we gave our hearts to the Lord, we confessed our sins and asked God s
forgiveness and we were cleansed by the blood of the Lamb. If this is true, how can Satan be aroused
again to rise against us? It is simple. When we initially got saved, our sins were cleansed, and we
entered the Kingdom of Heaven. Does that mean we will never sin again? No. It means we don t have
to be a slave to sin. When we do sin, before or after salvation, the accusations still come. When we
pray and confess our sins and

The Rise Of College Tuitions
The sudden rise of college tuitions began right after the recession in 2008. Many people lost their jobs,
and their current jobs were not paying well enough for them to survive through this devastating time.
More people turned to higher education and college tuition began to rise because obtaining college
majors will guarantee a higher pay other than minimum wage. This downturn didn t end here because
over the years, tuition rose even higher. In 2014, the debt for college students reached to 1.2 trillion
dollars, that is an eighty four percent major increase since the recession. It is very difficult for every
individual to repay their entire college tuition on time because their job may be underpaid. If you
begin to miss your monthly payments, there will be several consequences right ahead of you. Coming
from a 2013 study, published in Anxiety, Coping and Stress stated, Those with greater financial strain
perceived more stress, had more symptoms of depression, anxiety, and ill health. There are many
existing highly stressful situations that cause college students to drop out. Students that depend on
themselves, with no help from their families are more likely to drop out due to financial issues. A
survey conducted by Public Agenda reported by New York Times reveals that students who are
receiving financial help from their families have sixty three percent graduation rate, exceeding the
forty two percent of those who graduate and pay for college on their own. This proves

Scanlon Company
Milestone1 If you ask any successful and profitable company with a huge organization what makes
their company continue to stay this way they will most likely tell you something along the lines of
how they collaborate and infuse ideas from their group by communicating effectively to convey the
message they are trying to get across. Organizations that keep their teams up to date on the company s
situation and also take into consideration their employees ideas and suggestions are far more likely to
have higher morale which in turn leads to better productivity and drive in sales. At the Engstrom Auto
Mirror plant in Richmond, Indiana 209 employees worked for a company that was starting to fall
apart. This had been the business s second year where ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Scanlon Plan is a plan based on the idea that incentives for employees will build company morale
and also increase sales and productivity by rewarding employees for their performance. This is exactly
what the company needed because what the company was facing now was a direct consequence from
management not being upfront and honest with their employees. There is a direct correlation between
communication and profitability. At the plant communication was poor and management did not fully
explain the business conditions to their employees to make them aware of what was going on. In order
to fix this problem they needed to fix how they communicate with their employees directly. With
Scanlon, employees feel as if they apart of the bigger picture. When employees feel like they are apart
of a team culture they are more willing to accept new methods and are willing to cooperate better to
change. By doing this, good communication within the organization between management and their
employees will likely increase in a positive direction as well (Beer Collins, 2008). The way to be able
to execute this plan is by making sure that the plant discusses the

Summary Of Janice Mirikitani Suicide Note
The poem, Suicide Note, by Janice Mirikitani, is about a young Asian American female college
student who decides to end her life by jumping out of her dormitory window. Her last words, thoughts
and emotions were written in the note she left behind. This note is recorded in the form of a poem, and
permits the reader to see what can cause an individual to commit suicide. To begin, the girl has is a
perfectionist, which pushes her to be extremely judgemental of herself. She s also unfortunately set
irrational measures for herself, and was unable to get high marks on exams. As the girl waits on the
ledge of her building in preparation for death, snow has begun to fall, leaving her hesitant as to what
to do. It then arises to her just how upset

Flood Assessment
PURPOSE
The purpose of this report is to geologically evaluate the potential hazards for flooding in Hazard City.
This report will include a detailed historic and extrapolated Stream Gauge Data Worksheet, as well as
a graph of the Discharge Frequency Curve expected on Clearwater River. The report will provide
Hazard city with my scientific analysis, conclusions, and provide recommendations concerning
potential flood damages.
METHOLODOGY
The methodology used was to utilize the Recurrence Interval formula (R) = (N+1)/M, to determine the
recurrence interval and magnitude of historical floods provided on the Stream Gauge Data of Peak
Flood Discharges on Clearwater River in Hazard City. Also, I reviewed the flood insurance map to ...

Another reason for this scientific assumption is that the Downtown area, which is inundated with
impervious covered surfaces, will produce runoff, especially in the event of a flash flood, and will
meet in this same area along Clearwater River near Ralston (Keller, 2008, p. 269).
Information that was used to develop my conclusions were relative to the history of Clearwater River
such as the average normal discharge of 40,000cfs, the fact that the river can accommodate 55,000cfs
before flooding will occur, and that with every increase of 2600cfs the river rises one foot. For
example, this information helped to determine that four of the thirteen noted Peak Flood Discharges
listed on the worksheet were not at flood stage as the river is able to accommodate discharges less than
55,000cfs. However, nine of the thirteen Peak Flood Discharges listed on the worksheet were at flood
stage or drastically above; with the maximum rise of 17.77 feet above and a discharge rate of
101,200cfs. The average discharge rate of the top three noted floods per information on the Stream
Gauge Data of Peak Flow Discharges is 93,613cfs, which is resourceful later in determining the
extrapolated 75 year flood.
CITY COUNCIL CONCERNS
1. What is the recurrence interval of floods in Hazard City?
The average recurrence interval of floods in Hazard City is 1 in 7.14 years; with an average flood
discharge rate of 78,885cfs and a magnitude of 7. The typical flood in Hazard City

Determinants of Carbon Dioxide Emissions in the...
Introduction The National Aeronautics and Space Administration Goddard Institute for Space Studies
(2014) states that global surface temperature in 2013 was +0.6°C (~1.1°F) warmer than the 1951 1980
base period average, thus the seventh warmest year in the GISS analysis. Global warming has always
been correlated by the increasing amount of greenhouse gases, which carbon dioxide is notoriously
known for, in the Earth s atmosphere. Many environmental activists are putting pressures to every
facet of society and making them aware about the harm of the continuously increasing carbon dioxide
emission that the world is experiencing. The Philippines is already starting to experience sudden
extreme changes in its climate and natural disasters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With this objective, the author thinks that there is a need to empirically determine the impact of
macroeconomic determinants on carbon dioxide emissions.
Significance Oftentimes, human nature dictates us to spur the most from what we have, thus, it is
natural for greed and tunnel vision for growth to be in the minds of many businessmen, policymakers,
or any citizen in the population. However, in many cases, these men fail to recognise that more than
monetary costs, many of human actions entail environmental repercussions. The significance of this
study can be derived from the essence of the variables that are going to be used in this study. Gross
domestic product, foreign direct investment, exports, imports, energy use, and urban population relates
with economic development. On the other hand, carbon dioxide emissions in this study, relates to
environmental sustainability. Given these two, the study will give the reader insights, more or less, on
how the Philippine population treats economic development along side environmental sustainability.
Through the individual effects of the independent variables, we can infer not only about what those
variables contribute to carbon dioxide emissions, but also see the level of environmental awareness
that the population injects while inspiring development in the country.
With the completion of the paper, we are bringing in practicality and the picture of reality that the
Philippine economy and its society is

Understanding The Concept Of Manners
Let s face the truth everyone loves a well mannered kid, but raising such a kid doesn t happen
overnight. Teaching your kid the basics of manners is a long term process which you can start as soon
as she develops language and communication skills. What manners you teach your kid at each stage of
her development will change according to her ability to understand and follow social values. Here are
a few tips to help you in the process:
1. Set realistic expectations
Keep your expectations realistic. Teaching a 3 year old kid how to stay put at the dinner table for 2
hours is nowhere close to reality. You need to acknowledge that there are certain things your kid is not
capable of doing, both psychologically and physically, at different stages. If you try to teach her more
than what she is capable of, that is not going to benefit her. Understanding the concept of manners is
as important as learning to practice them.
2. Create situations
Young kids learn a lot from observation and practice. It is important that you create situations or
expose your child to situations where she can practice manners. When you teach your kid to say hello
while answering a phone, make sure that she is presented with a few right situations to practice it. For
example, you can ask her grandparents to give a call, ask her to pick up the phone and answer it. If she
doesn t practice what she learnt, prompt her with a gentle reminder Remember what we learnt
yesterday? What should you say while

making a big deal out of her problems because in the book she doesn t seem so troubled about her

they always list depression among the side effects of cancer. But in fact, depression is not a side effect

Nonverbal Verbal And Verbal Language
Nonverbal and Verbal Language is Powerful When a friend says hi to you and waves his hand, would
you think that you are being welcomed? Or, when a friend says goodbye without looking at you,
would you think you are being neglected? Everyday, we interact with different people to exchange our
ideas, and we share our thoughts through communication. However, people do not recognize that our
communication is divided into nonverbal language and verbal language, and this paper demonstrates
the concept of kinesics and the concept of haptics from the nonverbal communication and the concept

By hitting the floor and yelling out, it allows receivers to easily understand her meaning. We can also
compare the difference effect between using kinesics and not using kinesics in another scenario. I
suppose there is a district attorney in a court trial to press charges against a defendant who commits a
third degree of murder, and the lawyer has to prove to the members of the jury that the defendant is a
cruel murder. When he illustrates the incident of the crime, he uses a sharp pen to stab on the table in
front of the jury while he speaks about how the murder uses a sharp knife to stab on the victim until
the victim is bled to death. Using a sharp pen to stab on the table is kinesics, and the demonstration
strengthens the district attorney s ideas and it helps the jury to better understand the crime. On the
defendant side, the defendant s lawyer defends the murder by telling the jury that stabbing the victim
is an unintentional action because the defendant slips and loses his balance. When the defendant s
lawyer does cross examination, he only verbally presents the story. This weakens his argument
because the jury does not see any illustration to support his claim. When the verdict comes out, the
defender is found guilty of the third degree of murder. From the communication between the two
lawyers and the jury, we see the district attorney presents a stronger argument to the jury than the
defender s attorney because he uses words and body languages

To Kill A Mockingbird Friendship Analysis
The definition of friendship is the state of being a person attached to another by feelings of affection
or personal regard (dictionary.com). In Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird, friendship drives the
interactions between the main characters that live in Maycomb, Alabama. Miss Maudie Atkinson, a
neighbor whom is kind to the children; Jem, Scout s older brother; and Arthur Radley, a neighbor
whom rarely comes out of his house and is kind, all have a friendship with Scout in different ways that
grows throughout the novel.
Miss Maudie and Scout have a friendship that starts very small at the beginning and progressively
grows throughout the novel. Dill and Jem play together and exclude Scout. She does not want to do
what they are doing and be reminded that she is not like them because she is a girl. Scout spends time
with Miss Maudie, a neighbor, on pain of being called a girl, I spent most of the remaining twilights
that summer sitting with Miss Maudie Atkinson on her front porch (Lee 42), instead of playing with
the boys. Miss Maudie and Scout spend a lot of time together. Miss Maudie treats Scout like she is an
equal to her and not a child. Scout enjoys spending time with Miss Maudie and it makes her feel like
she is still a tomboy. Miss Maudie bakes cakes for the children often and Scout always receives her
own little cake. When she finishes eating the cake, Miss Maudie and her have a conversation. Scout
talks to Miss Maudie about their neighbor, Arthur

Analysis Of Teenage Drivers
We has humans are prone to accidents. Because of this, you often see news articles consisting of fatal
and devastating crashes, of which are most oftenly new teen drivers. As such, there is extra
precautions taken by the government or the school you might go to to help prevent these crashes from
happening. In the article Teen Drivers the writer discusses many points on why these bizarre accidents
are in fact worse than they appear to be. As a result of reading the article, my views on teenage driving
have been confirmed.
Following the writer explains how teens driving is prone to accidents while driving with friends. As
Brian O Neill of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety states, Put one teenager in a car, and you
may have a decent driver...Put four teenagers in a car, and you have a prescription for immature,
irresponsible behavior (Holt). This is a fact, have you ever been in a crowded car in which everyone is
talking? Maybe you happened to be the driver you the driver? If not, it is not hard to imagine the
emotions that the driver must be dealing with as they have to focus 360 degrees around them: on the
road, on the lights, the cars around him/her, the marking on the road, pedestrians. Maybe they are also
inclined to state their input on the conversations in the car possibly having to fulfill the demands of
those passengers. Now, imagine that situation with a teenager who just go their license, it is scary, I
know; as The odds of having a serious accident

Six Major Causes Of Wrongful Conviction
Part1: Six Major Causes of Wrongful Conviction
The most vicious cause of wrongful conviction is eyewitness misidentification. According to the
Innocence Project, 72% of overturned wrongful convictions through DNA testing were due to
eyewitness misidentification1. As this statistics implies, eyewitness identification (Eye ID) is
untrustworthy information. The main reason why Eye ID lacks accuracy is due to malleability of
memories. The Innocence Project asserts there are two variables greatly influence memory and also
Eye ID. One type of variables is estimator variables which are incontrollable factors by the criminal
justice system. Examples of estimator variables are environmental factors (e.g., lighting and distance)
when the crime occurred, racial factors, and psychological factors (e.g., severity of trauma)1. The
other type of variable is system variables which is controllable by the criminal justice system. These
variables are within the procedure of attaining evidences. For instance, post identification feedback
(e.g., confirming feedback that an eyewitness receives), biased lineup/ photo array composition,
biased administrators of lineup can negatively influences Eye ID.
The second primary cause of wrongful conviction is due to unreliable or improper forensic science
and forensic misconduct. The Innocence Project asserts that most forensic science (e.g., analysis of
hair, bite marks, fire arms, and tool marks) has not been thoroughly and scientifically evaluated

They cared only for themselves and subordinated their children, their husbands, and their servants to

The strength and force of education is visible to anyone who cares to look at the recent Egyptian
revolution, where young students, with minds opened to the wonders of democracy, through
education, helped overthrow the yoke of suffering that their parents had silently borne. Education is
the silent and effective weapon of nonviolence, which can help people and societies break the cycle of
oppression that many have historically suffered from. Many oppressed societies, where dictators have
thrived, have had a paucity of education avenues.
Education liberates the mind from its shackles and fears and encourages it to challenge and to
communicate with others. It is not without a reason that education is at the bottom of the priority list
of dictators. It was also not without reason that upon annexation of neighboring states. Many dictators
find it easy to unscrupulously deny people education or better still, manipulate education to serve their
own selfish interests. Throughout history, and even today, autocratic leaders censor literature and
books and prevent potent ideas from spreading since they realize that an idea is the most powerful
force in the world and can transform a human being completely. More importantly though, to me, an
educated person also has the capability to objectively analyze issues, recognize and learn from
existing flaws,

Comparing Winter s Tale And My Brother, The Artist, At Seven
In Mark Helprin s novel, Winter s Tale, and Levine s poem, My Brother, the Artist, at Seven , the
characters grow spiritually, Rising Above themselves. The characters in both the novel and the poem
share this charactersistic. Rising above one s self is not only a figurative theme in the characters, but
also a literal theme. Beverly Penn, Peter Lake, and Cecile Mature in Helprin s novel, as well as the
young boy in Levine s poem, all show similiar traits of rising above. Beverly Penn rises above herself
in some very meaningful circumstances in Mark Helprin s novel, Winter s Tale. One moment in the
novel in which Beverly is shown rising above herself is when, Peter Lake watches as she plays the
piano. The novel states, He had unspeakable admiration for the way she had risen from obvious
weakness to court with such passion the elusive and demanding notes that he had heard. She had done
what Mootfowl had always argued. She had risen above herself, right before his eyes she had risen,
and then fallen back, weakened, vulnerable, alone (Helprin, Pg. 127). Beverly pushed through the
weakness she was experiencing from consumption, and conquered it. She was doing something that
she loved and doing it strikingly well. This was Beverly rising above herself, challenging herself to

Diamond is a giant covalent network structure, having each Carbon atom sharing electrons with four
other Carbon atoms, therefore having four single covalent bonds formed. These Carbon covalent
bonds are extremely strong and account for two of diamond s most prominent physical properties
among all elements, hardness and a high melting point. Diamond has a high melting point due to the
fact that diamond is a covalent lattice, hence, melting this covalent lattice involves breaking many
strong covalent bonds. This melting process requires a large amount of energy and, as a result, melting
diamond requires a high temperature, approximately around 35500C. Having strong covalent bonds,

It are these properties which allow graphite to be used to draw with (using a pencil), as the friction
against weak intermolecular forces on paper causes layers of graphite to rub off onto the paper. It is
this layered structure and the weak bonding between the sheets that determines the soft slippery feel of
graphite, thus, creating graphite s self lubricating property. Being used a lubricant, graphite can be
used at very high or low temperatures for many different works, such as: steelmaking, wire die
extrusion lubricant, gear lubricant for mining machinery and to lubricate locks. While natural graphite
can be used in zinc carbon batteries in electric motor brushes and other specific works.
From all of these uses, graphite also has the ability to conduct electricity, and we can the reason as to
why when looking at the electron arrangement in graphite. As each Carbon atom bonds to three other
Carbon atoms, there is a fourth electron remaining in the bonding level. These remaining electrons in
each Carbon atom form into a sea of delocalised electrons, moving around the whole sheet of atoms in
the one layer. It is the ability of these delocalised electrons to move freely through their own Carbon
layer, hence, making graphite a good conductor of electricity. Being a good conductor of electricity
graphite, can be used as electrodes to an arc lamp and to carry the electricity that heats electric arc
furnaces.

Evil, By Robert M. Adams, James Cain And Richard Hauser On...
Evil is in the eye of the beholder, sometimes a daily reality. To present the problem of evil you must
first know that evil exists. Since God reveals himself as the all powerful, all knowing and all good,
how can the same God allow evil to exist and for bad things to happen to good people? Our suffering,
as well as the suffering of others, vividly marks the presence of evil in our world. The majority of us
struggle at one time or another in life with why evil happens to our family, friends, nation and

Love does not automatically assume the worst about other people when they wrong us. It is not
resentful, as it reveals that it does not quickly reach conclusions about the hearts of others. As a
believer of God, real love makes us assume that people have the best intentions when they have not
repeatedly demonstrated otherwise. If we fail to assume the best of each other, we can input evil
motives where they are absent and grow resentful. In the article by Robert Merrihew Adams, the
author states If personal substances are the most important objects of love, regret over a merely
abstract badness of events of a war would not provide enough reason to wish away the existence of all
or most of the individual human persons we know and love . I agree with this passage because I
believe the author is trying to explain that despite all the wrongful events that have happened and will
continue to happen in the world, love is confident in the victory of good and is ready to do everything
so that good may conquer. God doesn t want us to be puppets, he wants us to obey him freely, and
voluntarily choose to love him and each other. Love is not genuine if there is no option. Growing up, I
watched my mom suffer through mental, emotional, and physical abuse from her relationship with my
father. But in the end, I believe their love outweighed evil and conquered all. Love and evil are real,
they stand in the closest relationship to each

Ethical Standard Of Ontological Equality
There are many standards to assess a society s level of equality. First, the ontological equality means
that all the people are equal in the eyes of God. Second, the equality of opportunity means that all
people should have the same opportunities for advancement, and it is judged into the same standards.
Third, the equality of condition means to be equal under the conditions that can help the people to
achieve their goals. Forth, equality of outcome is the idea about that everyone in a society should end
up with the same rewards regardless of his or her starting point, opportunities, or contributions.
In my opinion, the most ethical standard is the standard of ontological equality. In the past, it was

energy management that is associated to business models and chances for households in Finland,
however at once implementing solar power generation into the equation. The main concentration will
be on the demand capabilities, hourly consumption and solar production analysis of households in
Finland ,however other countries like Southern European have also covered for comparison.
Moreover, for fundamentals various models are deliberated, besides which sensitivity on investment
analysis are conducted with choices of realistic scenario. In Finland business opportunities does exist
but however, until now still no attractive returns. Base case analysis demonstrated internal rates which
are among 3,0 % and 1,6 % , this is without demand response benefits, and internal rates of return
among 0,8 % and 0,3 % with them. Therefore, demand response had a really important positive effect
on the returns of an investment during regulation trading activities and solar production self

Some of the more apparent differences in the book and movie is that in the book Johnny is a very shy
and soft spoken yet on the movie johnny is more talkative. This affects the plot greatly by saying that
Johnny is beaten and is on the verge to kill yet in the movie the feeling of being abused is not here.
This leads me to believe that Johnny doesn t have the strength to kill Bob Sheldon. Another difference
is that in the book is that Johnny in the hospital was on a bed but in the movie Johnny is is on a high
tech bed which is built for his injury. This is important because in the movie the specialized bed gives
the feeling that he is in critical condition which makes the audience more emotional than the book
with Johnny in a common bed which does not give the feeling of a critical condition. That is some of
the many differences in the book and movie of The

Catholics Should Legalize Euthanasia
Euthanasia is a controversial topic all around the world. Many governments debate whether or not it
should be legal inside their borders. Catholics have a particular definition of what euthanasia is, why
its is against our human rights, and why it should be stopped. The catholic definition of euthanasia is
that it is a grave violation of G d s law, since it it is the deliberate and morally unacceptable killing of
a human person (Evangelium Vitae). Euthanasia is the killing of one s self before G d does, and
therefore morally wrong. By killing one s self, we do not allow room for G d in our lives and reject
His plan for His creation. It also is the act of predicting the future (which no one can do), and not
allowing G d to permit miracles and intervene into one s life. It also violates the virtue of hope
because it denies that G d is never ending with his love of every human person.
No one except G d can make the final decision about when our lives should end. We do not have the
right to dictate when and where we should die. A right is a moral claim, and only G d posses that
power over us; We are stewards, not owners, of the life God has entrusted us. It is not ours to dispose
of, (CCC 2279). We do not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Christians have a duty protect and preserve human rights through the fifth commandment: Thou shalt
not kill (Exodus 20). Euthanasia is the direct killing of one s self, and therefore a direct violation of
the 5th commandment. 1 Corinthians 6:19 20 tells us Or do you not know that your body is a temple
of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought
with a price. So glorify God in your body. By killing one s self you are rejecting the Holy Spirit you
and destroying the body G d has so graciously given you. A catholic who is pro life must also be
against euthanasia. Both concern those who are in vulnerable states and whose sanctity must be

During the time of post revolution in the 1920 s, Mexico underwent an enormous transformation from a mostly rural society to a largely industrialized and modern society. The various opinions of the Mexican people and their modernized culture can be put into perspective by the artistic expression of three famous artist Diego Rivera, José Clemente Orozco, and David Alfaro Siqueiros. They began a movement with wall paintings that focused on the political and social conditions in Mexico during the 1920 s and gave an in depth story of their point of view through their art. This essay will discuss a moderate overview of the impacts and influences of their art during the 1920 s. The Mexican Revolution began in 1910 with a political revolt against the tyrannical president Porfirio Diaz. The civil war was led by a number of charismatic individuals whose personal political agendas often determined the path of the decade long revolution. Accompanied by a group of intellectual radicals, political leaders began to discuss a noticeable movement inspired by the revolution. In the Library of Congress essays entitled La Revolución Mexicana y los ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some of these artists spent time in Europe before the revolution, and became well acquainted with the European realism movement in which artists used painting to demonstrate the immoderate conditions of the oppressed working classes. Many of the artists involved were ardent socialists or communists, believing in the power of the working classes and in the equal distribution of wealth. Children who have been neglected are prone to internalizing problems such as low self esteem, depression, social withdrawal, apathy, and helplessness. They are often delayed in their cognitive and language development and have poor communication skills. They have difficulty with interpersonal relationships. In the longer term neglected children lack the ability to participate fully in society as adults. An estimated half of the maltreatment fatalities are attributable to childhood neglect. Childhood maltreatment accidents are most often the result of a single life threatening incident. This makes their prediction, and therefore prevention, extremely difficult. During the course of this literature search it became apparent that child abuse and neglect have become fused into a single entity, as if describing one phenomenon. In fact most research focuses on abuse. As a result it has become commonplace in child protection research to refer to the neglect of neglect . A search of Psyc INFO published in the five years to December 2004 revealed 3888 entries for child abuse but only 57 that concentrated specifically on neglect. If neglect were defined in terms of harm to the child, there is no longer the need for the subjective interpretation of parental intention (Connell Carrick, 2003). However, the same behavior and the same harm done to children may be judged differently depending on how the intentions of the parents are

I have now experienced the world differently, and should hope to be more fit to follow the virtues. I have grown older, and the the world has too, so it is logical that the virtues I mentioned previously should need to be modified. Many virtues such as Sincerity and Cleanliness, two moral virtues which I had no trouble accomplishing the previous time, remain applicable today. However, the virtue of Order was a bit troublesome, so I have decided to morph it into the virtue of Planning, for one cannot, however frustratingly, obtain complete control over the will of another. Planning in combination with Resolution seem to account for Order. Temperance and Moderation have been combined into just Moderation for they were awfully similar in my first experiment. I have decided to keep the other virtues, with new meanings which ought to do a better job at describing each one then previously, and a more lengthy explanation as to why the definition has been changed in the way it has. The revised virtues, the new precept, and my explanation of the change are now: Moderation Compromise by finding the middle ground; avoid the extreme. • 8. Persuasive Essay On School Shootings School shootings strike into the heart of every American. The thought of innocent students, young with limitless potential, being mercilessly mowed down wrenches one s heart. Yet these events continue to happen. What could possibly drive a person to commit such a horrifying act? That single question has created a fierce debate over the causes of school shootings and what should be done to stop them. The many possible causes include lax gun control laws, poor mental health services, poverty, culture, psychological thresholds, and even masculinity. They touch on sensitive political issues that cause intense division. This divisiveness has prevented any federal action from being taken to directly address the problem. However, it is important to set aside differences and to act in a pragmatic manner. Although some may not like it, it is clear that the increasing number of school shootings in the US is caused by a combination of weak gun control laws, and toxic masculinity. Guns are created to kill. They have been used in many mass shootings and in overwhelming cases, in school shootings. The crowdedness of school campuses make them lethal. It is also no secret that the United States is the wild west when it comes to guns. According to Samantha Gupta from the Harvard Political Review, American civilians own an astounding 270 million guns, more than the civilians of the 21 other countries that had school shootings own combined. That is enough guns to give 84% of the population one each. This is caused by lax gun control laws and the loopholes that exist within them. The failure of the US government to implement universal background checks and bans on certain types of guns and ammunitions have allowed potentially dangerous people access to lethal weapons. And these people wreak havoc. From Gupta again, Out of all these countries that have experienced a school shooting in the given time period, the average number of school shootings per firearm per capita is 0.111; America s average is over five times higher. Often, detractors will point to countries like Switzerland that have high levels of gun ownership yet have almost no school shootings. After she identified key words, she felt that this poem is trying to reinforce the importance of being kind to others and treating them as God would. Mercy, Pity Peace and Love are being reinforced as necessary human qualities. She looked up the literal meanings of the key words, wrote them down, and added comments next to the definitions. The divine image is expressed in its human form through the actions and feelings of Mercy, Pity, Peace and Love. The Divine Image is referring to God, humans can be Godlike by performing these four feelings and actions. The vertical face of the trusses is modelled on the already established K truss design, but the overall shape of the structure is our own. There are three K units on each truss. The two vertical faces are held together at the top by another truss like design. We modelled this on the N truss. The truss is constructed from hot dog sticks, glue and bolts. Introduction The task was to construct a truss out of 48 hot dog sticks and 30 bolts to support as large a point load as possible. It was to span a gap of 450mm and to support a load placed at 190mm from the end. The truss may have a maximum depth beneath the supports of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We began with a simplified curve and flat bottom, but discovered that a slightly curved bottom distributed the weight more evenly to the truss. The maximum and minimum points of these curves were best positioned at the point of loading, 190mm from one end. The more curved the truss, and the greater the number of K units, the more evenly the weight is distributed. However, the truss structure is limited by the weight of the hot dog sticks used. For this reason, there are only two K units on the 190mm side, and three on the 270mm side. We have optimised weight distribution, given the constraint of the weight limit. The direction in which the Ks point is important. A better distribution of weight can be obtained when the top diagonal branch of the K points down towards the closest end of the truss. We changed the design accordingly. The point where the diagonal members meet on the vertical member of each K affects the weight distribution. We found that the higher this point is made, the lower the forces in the members. At first we limited the total length of a member to the length of one popsicle stick; however, by modelling the centre length as a single member in pure tension, we were able to increase the length of this member to make the truss stronger. Since a single hot dog stick can only support an average tension force of 230N and compression load of not more than 25N, we used the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Amidst a wealth of metaphors and apocalyptic maxims, this line is perhaps the most memorable from Edmund Burke s Reflections on the Revolution in France. He masterfully employs the concept of chivalry to express his anti revolutionary sentiment, and he dramatically connects it to images of land, sex, birth and money to express the widespread disorder that accompanies a loss of chivalry. What it does imply is that the glory and bond of Europe as a conglomerate in which England and France are leaders may have been severed. Furthermore, it is unlikely that Burke believes either of the aforementioned statements. Subsequent lines in the essay like, ...we still bear the stamp of our forefathers and We have not (as I conceive) lost the generosity and dignity of the fourteenth century... suggest that English society still clings to its heritage and manners to some extent (18). Additionally, one cannot overlook the prophetic nature of Burke s claims; he predicts what will happen if chivalry is lost. He and the reader both recognize that chivalry survives at least in the minds of men and sometimes even in the practice of men (like Burke who acts chivalrous by defending chivalry), but also because Burke s motivation for writing his essay would be significantly diminished if the revivification of chivalry were an impossibility. Similarly, if he truly believed that the glory of Europe were gone forever and the ties permanently severed, it is less likely that he would choose a Frenchman as the recipient of his philosophical letter. By doing this, good communication within the organization between management and their employees will likely increase in a positive direction as well (Beer Collins, 2008). • 25. Flood Assessment PURPOSE The purpose of this report is to geologically evaluate the potential hazards for flooding in Hazard City. This report will include a detailed historic and extrapolated Stream Gauge Data Worksheet, as well as a graph of the Discharge Frequency Curve expected on Clearwater River. The report will provide Hazard city with my scientific analysis, conclusions, and provide recommendations concerning potential flood damages. METHOLODOGY The methodology used was to utilize the Recurrence Interval formula (R) = (N+1)/M, to determine the recurrence interval and magnitude of historical floods provided on the Stream Gauge Data of Peak Flood Discharges on Clearwater River in Hazard City. Also, I reviewed the flood insurance map to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another reason for this scientific assumption is that the Downtown area, which is inundated with impervious covered surfaces, will produce runoff, especially in the event of a flash flood, and will meet in this same area along Clearwater River near Ralston (Keller, 2008, p. 269). Information that was used to develop my conclusions were relative to the history of Clearwater River such as the average normal discharge of 40,000cfs, the fact that the river can accommodate 55,000cfs before flooding will occur, and that with every increase of 2600cfs the river rises one foot. For example, this information helped to determine that four of the thirteen noted Peak Flood Discharges listed on the worksheet were not at flood stage as the river is able to accommodate discharges less than 55,000cfs. However, nine of the thirteen Peak Flood Discharges listed on the worksheet were at flood stage or drastically above; with the maximum rise of 17.77 feet above and a discharge rate of 101,200cfs. The average discharge rate of the top three noted floods per information on the Stream Gauge Data of Peak Flow Discharges is 93,613cfs, which is resourceful later in determining the extrapolated 75 year flood. CITY COUNCIL CONCERNS 1. What is the recurrence interval of floods in Hazard City? The average recurrence interval of floods in Hazard City is 1 in 7.14 years; with an average flood discharge rate of 78,885cfs and a magnitude of 7. The typical flood in Hazard City ... • 26. Determinants of Carbon Dioxide Emissions in the... Introduction The National Aeronautics and Space Administration Goddard Institute for Space Studies (2014) states that global surface temperature in 2013 was +0.6°C (~1.1°F) warmer than the 1951 1980 base period average, thus the seventh warmest year in the GISS analysis. Global warming has always been correlated by the increasing amount of greenhouse gases, which carbon dioxide is notoriously known for, in the Earth s atmosphere. Many environmental activists are putting pressures to every facet of society and making them aware about the harm of the continuously increasing carbon dioxide emission that the world is experiencing. The Philippines is already starting to experience sudden extreme changes in its climate and natural disasters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With this objective, the author thinks that there is a need to empirically determine the impact of macroeconomic determinants on carbon dioxide emissions. Significance Oftentimes, human nature dictates us to spur the most from what we have, thus, it is natural for greed and tunnel vision for growth to be in the minds of many businessmen, policymakers, or any citizen in the population. However, in many cases, these men fail to recognise that more than monetary costs, many of human actions entail environmental repercussions. The significance of this study can be derived from the essence of the variables that are going to be used in this study. Gross domestic product, foreign direct investment, exports, imports, energy use, and urban population relates with economic development. On the other hand, carbon dioxide emissions in this study, relates to environmental sustainability. Given these two, the study will give the reader insights, more or less, on how the Philippine population treats economic development along side environmental sustainability. Through the individual effects of the independent variables, we can infer not only about what those variables contribute to carbon dioxide emissions, but also see the level of environmental awareness that the population injects while inspiring development in the country. With the completion of the paper, we are bringing in practicality and the picture of reality that the Philippine economy and its society is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 27. Understanding The Concept Of Manners Let s face the truth everyone loves a well mannered kid, but raising such a kid doesn t happen overnight. Teaching your kid the basics of manners is a long term process which you can start as soon as she develops language and communication skills. What manners you teach your kid at each stage of her development will change according to her ability to understand and follow social values. Here are a few tips to help you in the process: 1. Set realistic expectations Keep your expectations realistic. Teaching a 3 year old kid how to stay put at the dinner table for 2 hours is nowhere close to reality. You need to acknowledge that there are certain things your kid is not capable of doing, both psychologically and physically, at different stages. If you try to teach her more than what she is capable of, that is not going to benefit her. Understanding the concept of manners is as important as learning to practice them. 2. Create situations Young kids learn a lot from observation and practice. It is important that you create situations or expose your child to situations where she can practice manners. When you teach your kid to say hello while answering a phone, make sure that she is presented with a few right situations to practice it. For example, you can ask her grandparents to give a call, ask her to pick up the phone and answer it. If she doesn t practice what she learnt, prompt her with a gentle reminder Remember what we learnt yesterday? What should you say while ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When he illustrates the incident of the crime, he uses a sharp pen to stab on the table in front of the jury while he speaks about how the murder uses a sharp knife to stab on the victim until the victim is bled to death. Using a sharp pen to stab on the table is kinesics, and the demonstration strengthens the district attorney s ideas and it helps the jury to better understand the crime. On the defendant side, the defendant s lawyer defends the murder by telling the jury that stabbing the victim is an unintentional action because the defendant slips and loses his balance. When the defendant s lawyer does cross examination, he only verbally presents the story. This weakens his argument because the jury does not see any illustration to support his claim. When the verdict comes out, the defender is found guilty of the third degree of murder. • 32. Six Major Causes Of Wrongful Conviction Part1: Six Major Causes of Wrongful Conviction The most vicious cause of wrongful conviction is eyewitness misidentification. According to the Innocence Project, 72% of overturned wrongful convictions through DNA testing were due to eyewitness misidentification1. As this statistics implies, eyewitness identification (Eye ID) is untrustworthy information. The main reason why Eye ID lacks accuracy is due to malleability of memories. The Innocence Project asserts there are two variables greatly influence memory and also Eye ID. One type of variables is estimator variables which are incontrollable factors by the criminal justice system. Examples of estimator variables are environmental factors (e.g., lighting and distance) when the crime occurred, racial factors, and psychological factors (e.g., severity of trauma)1. The other type of variable is system variables which is controllable by the criminal justice system. These variables are within the procedure of attaining evidences. For instance, post identification feedback (e.g., confirming feedback that an eyewitness receives), biased lineup/ photo array composition, biased administrators of lineup can negatively influences Eye ID. The second primary cause of wrongful conviction is due to unreliable or improper forensic science and forensic misconduct. The Innocence Project asserts that most forensic science (e.g., analysis of hair, bite marks, fire arms, and tool marks) has not been thoroughly and scientifically evaluated ... If we fail to assume the best of each other, we can input evil motives where they are absent and grow resentful. In the article by Robert Merrihew Adams, the author states If personal substances are the most important objects of love, regret over a merely abstract badness of events of a war would not provide enough reason to wish away the existence of all or most of the individual human persons we know and love .
