2. Creative Imagination In The Illustrated Man By Ray Bradbury
The scientific novel The Illustrated Man by Ray Bradbury collects 18 different stories and shows
certain common themes in order to reflect real life concerns and problems during World War II in the
1950s. Ray Bradbury uses an overall serious narrative method in this novel to introduce the illustrated
man as a storyteller for telling a clear moral point of view. The creative imagination as one of them,
which related to most of the story. It points out the dangers of imagination for children and society and
the power of imagination for achievement life goal. Ray Bradbury disputes that the creative
imagination will always appear based on different situations; therefore, positive experiences stimulate
imagination, while negative experiences of imagination lead people to lose control. Ray Bradbury
argues that positive experiences strengthen people s conviction in order to reach the goal in life. In the
story, The Rocket, after father and children take off from the Earth and start to travel the space. They
are so excited about seeing the Moon and the Mars, The moon dreamed by meteors broke into
fireworks [...] there s Earth! There s Mars! (277). The father and children fall into their imaginations
by traveling in space. Children shout There s Earth! There s Mars! which shows their initial dream
about what the Earth and Mars look like. Although they have never seen the Earth and Mars from the
space, they use their positive and creative imagination to create

3. The Theory Of General Strain Theory Essay
Introduction
In the 1980 s, Criminologist, Robert Agnew, presented his theory of general strain, in which he covers
a range of negative behaviors, especially how adolescents deal with stresses of strain. General strain
theory focuses on the source, such as anything that changes in the individual s life that causes strain.
His theory provides a different outlook on social control and social learning theory for two reasons:
the type of social relationship that leads to delinquency and the motivation for the delinquency
(Agnew, 1992). He states that certain strains and stresses increase the likelihood for crime such as
economic deprivation, child abuse, and discrimination. These factors can cause an increase of crime
through a range of negative emotions. For some people it can take a lot of willpower to take a
corrective action and try to deter away from committing crime in a way that they can relieve these
negative emotions. When people cannot cope with the stresses of the strain, they turn to crime as a
coping mechanism. Agnew also states, that not all people that experience the stresses of strain will go
forward to committing crime and live a deviant life.
Agnew assumes that all people of all social classes experience and deal with frustration when
experiencing a great amount of stress. The general strain theory bridges the gap between the poor and
the rich. The stresses of strain is a universal feeling that every individual experiences at some point in
time of their life.

4. Sexual Orientation Influence
The study of the development of sexual orientation has transformed greatly in the past few decades.
Beliefs such as homosexual attraction being a choice and homosexuality being the result of faulty
psychological development caused by sexual abuse and other troubling childhood experiences have
been labelled as prejudice, incorrect and have been discarded by most scientists. But what does cause
a person to develop one sexual orientation over another? The truth is that the exact causes for the
development of a particular sexual orientation have not been discovered yet. A lot of research has been
conducted to determine the influence of genetics, hormones, development, and social and cultural
influences. These studies have led many to believe that biology and environment play a complex role
in forming a person s sexual preference. This goes along with what has been discussed in class
regarding nature vs. nurture; what determines sexual orientation more than likely lies somewhere on
the spectrum between the two extremes of nature and nurture.
There is strong evidence of the role of genes in the determining of sexual orientation. ... Show more

Fetal hormones may be seen as either the primary influence on sexual orientation or as a co factor
interacting with genes or the environment, according to Simon LeVay. The exact hormones and what
levels needed are unclear, but current scientific studies point to the same hormones that assist in
sexual differentiation, namely testosterone and DHT (LeVay, 2011). Support for this comes from the
fact that the brain structures of homosexuals differ from their same sex heterosexual counterparts.
According to LeVay s study, gay men and straight women have, on average, equally proportioned
brain hemispheres. Lesbian women and straight men, on the other hand, have slightly larger right

5. Pak Muhamad Sukma s Going Home
According to Pak Muhamad Sukma, the author of Going Home believes that education is more than
having a high paying job. It is taking the knowledge you have acquired and trying to make a change
out of it. Sukma used to think that education is the training needed to get a high paying job. Then a
protest occurred in his country, this occurrence allowed him to be awaken with new found knowledge.
The protests were about the price increase and an economic crisis, ever since that it has expanded his
relatively simplistic view of the world. Leading him to understand that education can play a major role
in society, even if it has a small difference. I agree with Sukma s statement about education because
education is more than the amount of money ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the 10th grade I saw Spike Lee s biopic of Malcolm X. From that movie, I learned that Malcolm X
was one of the most influential African Americans in history, but he wasn t always like that. Before he
became an American Muslim Minister, he was a lowlife scoundrel. This all changed when he went to
prison and increased his knowledge. He acquired more knowledge, which led him to understand there
are issues that should be fixed. This led Malcolm X to help the population of African Americans
understand that supremacy and racism exist amongst them. Malcolm X believed that people should be
treated equally, and be given equal rights just like their counterparts. This influenced people to be
more aware of their environment and protest on the problems they face. Eventually, this movement
made the government guarantee that African Americans should be given the most fundamental rights.
Similar to the protest that Sukma encountered, it was all for a cause. This cause was acknowledged
because Malcolm X used his education to understand the bias differences. To a large degree,
moreover, the protest allowed people to let go of their differences and come together to fight a bigger
cause. Education allows people to spread their knowledge to others and allow them to understand the
issues they face. This connects to Sukma s idea that knowledge gives us the ability to take social

6. The Role Of Women In House On Mango Street By Sandra Cisneros
Mouse traps, they aren t the most pleasant thought but it gets a point across. Tiptoeing and jumping
are what people do when attempting to no sett off the mouse traps, so imagine penniless women
having to tiptoe around circumstances almost everyday of their lives that would get them sucked into
bad situations. In Sandra Cisneros book, House on Mango Street , well thought out motifs and
symbolisms become very useful in order to convey the expectations of women in a poor community
make the women more susceptible to becoming trapped inside this environment.
The expectations of the women in House on Mango Street repeats throughout the story in the form of
shoes. One very prominent vignette is The Family of Little Feet where Esperanza, Rachel, and Lucy
are all given high heeled shoes to try on, they excitedly decide to walk outside in them because the
heels made them feel powerful and mature. The girls walking around doesn t result well due to
multiple men sexualizing them though, especially when a man looks at them and scrutinizes their
appearance, Them are dangerous, he says. You girls too young to be wearing shoes like that. Take
them shoes off before I call the cops, but we just run (Cisneros 41). This along with a bum who asks
for a kiss and a boy who shouts at them to lead him to heaven, give Esperanza, Lucy, and Rachel a
small glimpse of what the men see them as sexual objects. As much as people want others opinions to

8. Rappaccini’s Daughter
Women and Rappaccini s Daughter
What are the attitudes of the young medical school student in Hawthorne s tale, Rappaccini s
Daughter, toward women; of the author toward women; of other characters in the story toward
women? Are women involved in basic plot development? This essay intends to answer these and other
questions about women in the short story.
Beatrice, Dr. Rappaccini s daughter, is the prime motivating force in the story. Giovanni s love for the
beautiful daughter, mixed perhaps with pride, blinds him to various indications of her poisonous
nature, to the evil nature of her father and to the intent of her father to involve the protagonist as a
subject in his sinister experiment.

responsibility in her portrayal; Sculley Bradley, Richmond Croom Beatty and E. Hudson Long in The

Giovanni in his room can hear the water gurgling in Dr. Rappaccini s garden, from an ancient marble
fountain located in the center of the plants and bushes; of particular interest to Giovanni is one shrub
in particular, set in a marble vase in the midst of the pool, that bore a profusion of purple blossoms,
each of which had the lustre and richness of a gem. As striking as the plant of the purple gems is a tall,
emaciated, sallow, and sickly looking man, dressed in a scholar s garb of black, who is busy in the
garden, scientifically examining the plants in a detached and cautious manner as if walking among
malignant influences, such as savage beasts, or deadly snakes, or evil spirits.
Ironically, into this sinister environment the reader sees the second female character enter the tale with
the doctor s shout, Beatrice! Beatrice! She very promptly and obediently

cures have been discovered and practiced, such as bed rest, seclusion and even the consumption of
bland food. As stated in author Nick s Female Hysteria Treatment: Symptoms and Causes of Women

exercise.
A great deal of scientists looked greatly into this matter of cognitive malady, including Austrian

Larkin s Church Going : A Failed Exploration for Religious Faith
Murdoch s artistic and natural beauty critique, called The Sovereignty of Good and Other
Concepts, quotes Plato s belief that beauty is the only spiritual thing we love by instinct.
Therefore, beauty is the only spiritual connection Atheist Philip Larkin seeks in a church.
Larkin s poem Church Going, begins as a confessional since he mentions how he often stops at
random churches, perhaps because he is searching for a place of worship that is beautiful, both
naturally and artistically. In other words, in the nature of the church he is looking for a warm group of
people, rather than an uptight group. As for artistic beauty, Larkin is searching for

Larkin imagines when the time will come that religion dies completely, and those churches that are not
kept to par for tourism will be abandoned until weathering dissolves the physical remains of religion.
Once Larkin noticed the failure in natural beauty, his train of thought is catalyzed by the failure of the
church to provide artistic beauty. For art to pass as beautiful, it must be good art, which Murdoch says,
reveals what we are usually too selfish and too timid to recognize. By finding beautiful, religious
scriptures that are blunt about the ambiguity of life and death, rather than romanticized, Larkin will
find a trustworthy place of worship and at last, a spiritual connection. Beauty does not depend on
whether the art is positive or negative, but on the honesty of the statement. The lines, Yet stop I did: in

Questions:
1. What are the current issues with the existing network and information system at XYZ Hospital?
One of the first things that comes to mind is the administrative and clinical staff are complaining about
how slow the network is. With an increase in staff over the years at the hospital and an increase in the
demand of the network and the existing system is struggling to keep up. Staff are complaining about
the weak and slow speed of the network at the hospital. Along with the problems of the network, staff
are also having a hard time of being able keep patient medical records up to date and patient billing

The hospital s existing information system and network were designed many years ago when all that it
was mainly used for was sending email, using the internet for research, or saving files to a file server.
We would like the new information system and network upgrade to take advantage of being able to
have an information system where all patient medical records can be updated on a continual basis,
where medical inventory can be inputted into a patient inventory database to keep track of what has or

12. Arguments Against The Death Penalty
Abstract
The death penalty has been a controversial issue for many years. Those who support the death penalty
find it to be a fitting form of punishment for criminal actions. Others suggest that the death penalty is
an inhumane practice, even towards criminals. Over the years, it is clear that there are some fatal flaws
in how the death penalty operates. Too often in the past has the death penalty fallen victim to
courtroom biases. Furthermore, the death penalty is an incredibly expensive and time consuming
process. However, the determining factor of whether the death penalty can be considered justice or not
depends primarily on how it affects the overall crime rate. In light of this, William Tucker the
American Spectator s New York correspondent and CEO of TheElevator.com and Eric M. Freedman a
professor at Hofstra University School of Law present evidence of the effectiveness and
ineffectiveness of the death penalty system.
The Value of a Criminal Life The controversy over the death penalty has plagued the world for years.

Mark Twain s Huckleberry Finn is perhaps one of the most controversial novels the North American

language and the character of Jim are presented in a racist manner. Many have called for the book to
be banned from our nation s schools and libraries. Mark Twain s novel is about a young boy who was

able to present and challenge the values and assumptions of this time. Among the assumptions and
values of the time that the reader encounters in the book are the strict definitions pertaining to Huck s
world and the people who inhabit it:
The world of Huckleberry Finn presents a curious mixture of Calvinist principles and aristocratic
ideals. . . . We meet most of the fundamentalist Christian sects from their Sunday schools to their
Methodist and Presbyterian churches; from Revivalist camp meetings to lay preachers (like brother
Phelps) and ministers (like the Wilks brothers). We meet representatives of all three classes from
upper and lower orders of the ruling Whites to Blacks. For that is the first division: Whites (who are
people ) and Blacks (just niggers ). People , in their turn are further divided into two castes: the quality
and plain folks.

Danny Chasteen and Susan Rick thought that they had finally gotten their big break when they won
$250,000 from the Illinois lottery. But, because the Illinois budget had not passed, they received
nothing but a cold promise. No, the lottery situation is not the most pressing problem facing our
government, it is merely a trivial outgrowth of a bigger problem: political gridlock in the state
legislature. A large majority of the citizens of Illinois are exasperated with the government, and they
have the right to be, but a Constitutional Convention is not going to fix any of our problems. Every
state has its own dilemmas, and these issues can be solved through the everyday political process. A
Constitutional Convention is simply not necessary, when the Constitution itself is not what is holding
back the Illinois State government.
What could possibly be the purpose of a Constitutional Convention? Is it to change provisions on the
state budget, income tax, or even school funding? All of these subjects can be focused on individually,
and changed through the already present amendment procedures. In fact most of the Constitution itself
can be changed through this existing political process. The Constitution is a living breathing document
that is meant to change as its environment changes, which is the specific purpose of amendments.
Each provision should be dealt with individually, so as to bring more attention to that specific
problem. For instance, school budgeting or pension reform

At first glance, it may seem as if the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd and Thomas Groome s Shared
Christian Praxis have nothing in common with one another, but while they do share many differences,
they also share some similarities. In terms of teaching the divine pedagogy, the two catechetical
approaches of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd and Shared Christian Praxis have some similar
and some different theological, philosophical, and educational principles, which aid in the
effectiveness of their practice for their specific target age group.
First, the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a specific form of catechesis aimed towards children
ages 3 to 12. There are three levels involved with this form of catechesis: level one (3 6 year olds),
level two (7 9 year olds), and level three (10 12 year olds). The name of the space where this
catechesis occurs is The Atrium, and the Atrium is designed specifically for the children with small
tables, chairs, and shelves. A child s capacity for understanding God should be taken seriously, and the
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd does this. In fact, it can be said that children have an extraordinary
capacity for prayer, and theirs is a prayer of praise and thanksgiving, which expresses the nearness and
transcendence of God (Cavalletti, 44). Through the Atrium, the children are able to build a relationship
of love with the Good Shepherd, and they are able to learn and embrace the beauty of silence. The

A History of Protest Music Revolutionary War to the 1960s Protest music in the United States dates
back to the 19th century. This protest music focused around subjects that were topical for the time
period. Among these topics were the Civil War. Another topic was slavery, and its abolition. A final
topic was women s suffrage. A famous group of protest singers was the Hutchinson Family Singers.
Their notoriety, which spanned the mid 19th century, began in 1839. Their songs about abolition were
what they were known for. They also sang about the Civil War, the temperance movement, women s
suffrage, and other social reform movements. They are considered by many to be the precursors to
famous 20th century protest singers songwriters. Negro spirituals is a subgenre of music that many see
as a form of protest music. The focus of the spirituals were slavery and oppression. Many well known
Negro spirituals draw influence from the troubles other oppressed groups in history faced. During the
20th century, there was protest music before the Vietnam War. The most common topic was the
struggle for fair wages and working hours for the working class. Also, the attempt to unionize the
American workforce. Another protest music topic was the Great War or World War I. There were
songs protesting war in general. There were also songs that protested America s involvement in what

Teamwork and collaboration with other healthcare providers is very important. To function effectively
there needs to be mutual respect, open communication, and shared decision making in the best interest
of the patient. As a member of a team it is vital to know ones own strengths and limitations, this way
patients receive the best care. Evidence based practice is when recent research is integrated into the
clinical setting for maximum delivery of health care. A lot of evidence based practice was developed
from research studies conducted by nurses such as decubitis ulcer prevention. Knowing and
demonstrating the scientific methods and processes will help to advance nursing care by providing
better interventions for patient care. Patient care plans should be developed based on evidence (Dycus,

improvement in the healthcare setting. Using quality measures such as charts and diagrams to

and therefore not helping to improve that patient s quality of life. To help provide a safe environment,

Relationships with community, family and between male and female are a constant source of
inspiration for Irish writers. Discuss with reference to examples from three genres.
In Dubliners, James Joyce portrays relationships in the nineteenth century to be unequal. Women live
in servitude to their men folk, and are portrayed as the weaker sex whereas children are hardly seen or
heard. The position of women and children under masculine dominance in Joyce s stories runs in
parallel to the political position of Ireland as the conquered neighbour of imperial England.
Consequently, just as the native language of Ireland was hushed, the voices of his women and children

Joyce portrays male/female relationships in this story to be unequal. Women speak in clichés, which
suggests that they have nothing interesting to say and are incapable of having a mind of their own.
Female subordination in a man s world is Joyce s theme. An incident in The Sisters highlights this.
When the boy s uncle informs his wife that Mr Cotter might take a pick of that leg of mutton , and Old
Cotter replies no, no, not for me , the aunt brings the dish from the safe and lays it on the table
anyway, because she must follow her husband s orders.
The boy s relationship with his aunt and uncle seems to be one of convenience; there is no mention of
there being any love between them. The difference made between adults and children is made clear by
Joyce as while the adults are eating mutton, the boy is simply served stirabout. Mr Cotter and the boy
s uncle feel that children should not be in the company of adults let a young lad run about and play
with young lads of his own age and you get the impression that at that time in Ireland, children were
seldom seen and never heard.

Culture is the learned set of beliefs, values, norms, and material good shared by a group of members

religion, education, and social events. The traditional family social unit is the unit that I chose to

of material and nonmaterial aspects. The culture of a social unit can be impacted by many different
variables. Some of these variables include beliefs, values, and religion. My family s culture can be
expressed through symbols. A bouquet of flowers represents my family. The bouquet is full of flowers
with different characteristics, but they all come together to make one unit. The values of my family
also play a big part in the family social unit. The most important value is responsibility. My family and
everyone in it depend on the fact that everyone has their own responsibilities they need to take care of
to continue to make the unit function. Another contributor to my families culture are beliefs. My
family unit believes in Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. This belief brings my family together. Special
practices also play a part in the culture of any social unit. As far as I know, my family does not partake

Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow were two of the most notorious criminals of the 1930 s. Known for
robbery, murder and kidnapping the two spent most of their criminal career hiding and running from
law enforcement. They encountered many different people on the run, some of which became
accomplice s others became victims. The movie Bonnie and Clyde is a basic interpretation of the
events that led up to the gruesome killings of the couple.
It started January 5th, 1930 when Bonnie and Clyde first met at a mutual friend s house (Browder). At
the time of their fateful meeting, Bonnie was already married to Roy Thornton, who was at the time
serving a five year sentence in prison (Strickland). They grew close in a short period of time and soon
later Clyde was arrested on charges of burglary and went to jail. A short time later, by smuggling
Clyde a gun in his jail cell, Bonnie helped him escape. However, it was not long after that he was
arrested again, he went back to jail and was sentenced to two years. However, he only remained there
for several months until he was released on general parole because of his mothers pleading with the
governor (Guinn). Ironically just before he was to be released, a fellow convict in the same facility
was asked by Clyde to chop of two of his toes in order to escape the difficult work detail. (Mcgasko).
By 1932, Bonnie and Clyde were together again and began their crime spree not long after. Clyde,
Bonnie, and a few others started to rob small

23. What Is The Role Of Government In The Book 1984 By George...
The book 1984 deals with a man named Winston Smith, realizing that his government is not what it
seems like. 1984 is a work of fiction about what could happen if government and media took control
over the minds of the population. The government controls everyone s house with televisions that
never turn off, their thoughts and doings, and on signs it says Big Brother is Watching You. The film
describes a controlling, almost totalitarian, government with one leader, identified as Big Brother. His
portrait is seen on posters that appear on nearly every wall in the city of London. Orwell refers the
posters of Big Brother as so contrived that eyes follow you about when you move. In 1984, the job of
the secret police is to spy for the government ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

constant state of fear, by both physically and mentally torturing them into obeying with everything
they say. They are stripped of anything that can let them express themselves. History is erased leaving
them feeling lost, not knowing what the past was and what their future is capable of being. In 1984 the
people where scared into following everything the party told them to do, they didn t question or go

Sun Tzu s Theory in the Horn of Africa s Security Challenge
Introduction
The greater Horn of Africa (HoA) is the sub region of the Eastern part of Africa that composed of
Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan, and Uganda. Threats to peace and
security are interconnected and comprised various human insecurities that emanate from both
intrastate and interstate conflict, and transnational security threats such as terrorism. This is because
political, social, and security problems in the region further threaten development efforts and
complicate interventions to alleviate, the various related challenges of the region. Mainly, Terrorism
has been a source of serious security challenge to the Horn of Africa peace and development process.
As terrorism is the main security challenge of the Horn of Africa region, Sun Tzu s theory is relevant
in the war with terrorist organizations operated in the greater Horn of Africa. For these countries could
helpful in curbing the terrorist threat, if they examine Sun Tzu s theory offensive strategy according to
the existing context of the terrorist threat. The offensive strategy first should focus on attacking the
terrorist s strategy, and then their allies because the main strength of the terrorist is the strategy they
follow. Giving priority on attacking the terrorist s strategy would eliminate fertile ground for terrorist
organizations motive. Therefore, this paper will evaluate, and analyze Sun Tzu s theory such

Indian Experience
India is the second largest populous country in the world with a diverse population and culture. It is
one of the oldest civilizations dating back 4,500 years. The population is made up of numerous
different ethnicities and religions. The culture was heavily influenced by different civilizations that
once occupied India; food is no exception. Indian cuisine is known for its diverse and wide ranging
assortment of dishes as well as its extensive variety of herbs and especially spices (Live Science,

tables occupied at the time. One was a large Indian family seated at a long row of tables down the
center of the restaurant and the other was a table of Caucasian women in the booth behind ours. Our
server, the same man who seated us, brought us water and directed us toward the buffet. The first thing
I noticed when approaching the buffet was the smell. There were so many different spices and food
smells lingering in the air it was unbelievably appetizing. The buffet was rather extensive, with about
20 different dish options to choose from including naan and dessert. I did not hesitate. I took a little bit
of everything until my plate was full. I then proceeded to cover the plate with several pieces of garlic
naan. The food was simply delicious. It ranged from every level of spiciness without being so spicy
that it killed the taste. My favorite dishes were a spiced zucchini dish and the Aloo Mater which is a
potato and green pea dish with a perfect blend of Indian spices. Also, the naan was extraordinary; soft
and crispy with slivered green onion and pureed garlic spread on top. We also ordered chai which was
delicious and had the right amount of warmth and caffeine for the afternoon. It complimented the
Kheer (an Indian style rice pudding) perfectly. The food was an overall amazing experience. Some of

cross the border into a different country, whether it is by car, train or plane. It questions one s identity
as to who they are. Most people answer with the current country they live in but does one ever answer

that has pride in her culture and values where she comes from. Along with her two kids, she resides in

The mother carries her pride for her family, culture and her heritage. When Laetitia and her mother are
saying their good byes at the border, her mother tries one last time to remind her about the reserve and
how you would not need to go anywhere else when you have everything on the reserve but also the
different languages that were spoken in this phrase. You can still see the mountains from here , my
mother told Laetitia in Blackfoot. Lots of mountains in Salt Lake, Laetitia told her in English. Here
the mother is speaking in her native tongue, while Laetitia is just talking in English, another example
of how the mother brings about her culture. The mother identifies herself as Blackfoot as she keeps
going back and forth to the borders. She clearly refuses to adopt the nationality of either a Canadian or
an American, rather claiming on her Blackfoot status as a person who belongs in both countries. The
mother seems to defy the border officials also as a lesson to teach her son about her Blackfoot identity
and values. Her son is the one who is travelling along with her and is also the main narrator in the
story. During their standoff periods in the nightfall of the story, the mother takes the time to tell him
Blackfoot tales of the Coyotes as they study the patterns of the stars. (King, 144) The mother is a

28. What Is The Evil In Lord Of The Flies
There is darkness inside everyone. Evil, malice, wickedness. Society attempts to stomp out these
innate traits. In his critically acclaimed novel, Lord of the Flies, William Golding explores what
happens to a person when the pressures of society are removed. A group of British boys are stranded
on an island without any adults. They form a society that slowly falls apart as half of the boys, led by
Jack, are drawn into the savage life accepted on the island. Ralph s group attempts to remain civil, but
their success is questionable. Jack s group becomes more and more brutal and savage, and three of the
boys die. Golding wrote this book as an allegory for the psychoanalytic theory of the personality, the
Id, Ego, and Superego. The Id is the evil part, driven by base instincts and desires. The Superego
strives for morality and rules, and the Ego attempts to balance the two out. Golding strongly believed
that humans at their most base level are evil, a theory developed through his life experiences. Golding
fought in WW II, and is quoted saying World War II was the turning point for me. I began to see what
people were capable of doing. ( William Golding 3) Golding believed that without society people
would revert entirely to the Id, foregoing the Superego. He expressed this message in Lord of the Flies
by characterizing different boys as the different parts of the personality. He explored what happens to
the personality through the development of these characters. Golding

30. A Brave New World Conflict Essay
In the novel Brave New World by Aldus Huxley, the use of technology to control the growth and
development of society creates conflicts within individuals, conflicts between individuals, and
conflicts between technology and mankind.
One of the major conflicts shown in Brave New World is man vs. technology. This is obvious to the
reader but the people in this society are unaware of this being any sort of problem because they are
brainwashed as young children through the process of technology. Actually, these people are all about
the use of technology; technology is everything. The conflict itself would be the use of technology to
create mankind and force the people in the society to do certain things and act certain ways. This is
what causes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of this, there is a third conflict involving Bernard; a man vs. self conflict. He has become
somewhat shy; he hates his self image, gets jealous of others and becomes unsociable with personality
changes.
Another major conflict existing in Brave New World is John vs. both the Savages and the World State.
This would be a dual man vs. society conflict. John has heard stories about the world state and this
made him eager and interested to go and explore this new world. But when he ends up going, he is
extremely disappointed and is not accepted at all into that society. He will always remain a savage to
the people in the world state. However, his curious nature towards the World State made it impossible
for John to truly be accepted into the world of the Savages; he was always an outsider to them.
These conflicts connect to the theme, the use of technology to control the growth and development of
society. Technology plays a major part in this book because its what controls all of society; making
people act a certain way and reducing the amount of conflicts. In this matter, although they have
reduced the number of conflicts, they have subsequently created other conflicts. The focus around
technology creates so much anger, jealousy, sadness, and tension but this is extinguished by the use of
a chemical, soma and the act of brainwashing at a young age. Everything in this society is about

35. Rebirth In Hinduism
When the charioteer of Prince Arjuna, Krishna (who is an avatar of the god Vishnu), tries to convince
the prince to fight against his own relatives, he invokes some of the core concepts of Hinduism, such
as karma, dharma, samsara, and brahman.
The avatar Krishna brought up Hindu concept of atman saying, the Eternal [atman] in man cannot die .
Hindus believe in brahman, the essence of life. The brahman in humans is the soul, or atman. As
opposed to the human body, the atman is eternal. The ultimate goal in Hinduism is to achieve moksha,
or reunion with brahman. But it takes multiple lifetimes to achieve moksha, so Hindus believe in
samsara, or rebirth. After the physical death of the human body, the atman then takes another form and

A person has a higher chance of being united with brahman if they build up good karma throughout
their lifetime. In order to build up good karma, one must fulfill his or her dharma. Krishna repeatedly
invokes this concept of dharma. Karma is a person s actions which, if used to fulfill their dharma, lead
to good karma. Good karma results in the person s atman being reincarnated in a higher being, and so
is therefore closer to achieving the ultimate goal of moksha, or reunion with the divine. Since Prince
Arjuna is a warrior, his duty is to fight. Krishna invokes this by saying Think thou of thy duty and do
not waver. Not fulfilling one s dharma means that person will get bad karma, and therefore be farther
away from achieving the Hindu goal of moksha. Since Arjuna s duty is to fight, him not fighting, even
if it means killing his own relatives, is him not fulfilling his dharma.

4. Changing PT in the morning to accommodate everyone:
a. There is no doubt that there is a significant skill level during PT. PT should be split at least 3 4 PT
sessions a month. Meaning cadets are broken up based on their personal skill level and which area
they need the most help in. This way every cadet is being pushed to the max.
b. We all have a goal to decrease our run time and exercises such as the Indian run will push cadets to
improve their running score. Therefore, by intensifying PT as the semester continues and completing
more intense exercises, cadets will be pushed to their max and scores will improve.
c. Setting high goals will push and motivate cadets to push themselves harder than the previous PT
session. Goals such as:
(1.) If the detachment as a whole does at least 15% higher from the PFD taken in fall to the PFD taken
in spring, then the cadets will get to choose what exercises will be done for one PT session.
(2.) Cadets run time for 1.5 mile run will decrease by 30 seconds from the beginning of the semester
to the end of the semester.
(3.) Cadets will be able to increase their personal push up amount done in one minuet by at least five
push ups by the end of the semester, unless they have maxed the number of pushups required for the
standardized PT test.
