The Virtue Of Order By The Reaction From The Crowd
I was disappointed not only by the difficulty of adhering to the moral virtues, but also by the reaction
from the crowd. I have now experienced the world differently, and should hope to be more fit to
follow the virtues. I have grown older, and the the world has too, so it is logical that the virtues I
mentioned previously should need to be modified.
Many virtues such as Sincerity and Cleanliness, two moral virtues which I had no trouble
accomplishing the previous time, remain applicable today. However, the virtue of Order was a bit
troublesome, so I have decided to morph it into the virtue of Planning, for one cannot, however
frustratingly, obtain complete control over the will of another. Planning in combination with
Resolution seem to account for Order. Temperance and Moderation have been combined into just
Moderation for they were awfully similar in my first experiment. I have decided to keep the other
virtues, with new meanings which ought to do a better job at describing each one then previously, and
a more lengthy explanation as to why the definition has been changed in the way it has.
The revised virtues, the new precept, and my explanation of the change are now:
Moderation Compromise by finding the middle ground; avoid the extreme. This is a mixture of
Temperance and the original Moderation virtues. I feel satisfied with their original definitions, but I
think they were too similar. This new definition takes the better half of each definition to try to be

Volatile Aromatic Organic Compounds
1. Introduction The release of volatile aromatic organic compounds into the environment is a serious
problem as they distribute between the different phases in natural systems. Sediments can be
considered as a sink for volatile aromatic organic compounds because of their hydrophobic nature and
the resulting affinity to the sediment s organic matter. Organic matter consists of soft carbon, where
portioning is the main sorption process and hard carbon, where pore filling mechanisms dominate
(Zhao et al., 2002; Chai et al., 2006). Consequently, sorption/desorption processes are the most
important factors that determine the fate of volatile aromatic organic compounds in the environment.
The extensive production and release of aromatic organic compounds has led to a widespread
contamination of soils and sediments with these pollutants throughout the world, threatening drinking
water resources, especially petroleum hydrocarbons as constituents of gasoline such as Benzene, 1,2
dichlorobenzene, Toluene and m xylene. It was proposed that sorption of the sorbate molecules may
cause deformation of flexible sorbent solids, such as natural organic matter and organo clays resulting
in an entrapment of sorbed molecules during desorption (Weber et al., 2002; Lu and Pignatello, 2004).
Several researchers have tried to associate the maximum sorption capacities of organic compounds
with the sorbed amounts in the slow and very slow desorbing domains (Van Heuvel et al., 2005; Van
Heuvel and

Summary Of Lysistrata
Lysistrata by Aristophanes is seen to be a comical play used to show the impact of war not only on the
ones physically in the war, but the ones mentally involved also. This play was written to help express
the feeling the author had about the war occurring during the time the work was written. Lysistrata, the
main character, is a strong woman who decides to become as what could be said as being rebellious .
She does this by refusing to have sexual relations with the men in the city until it was agreed that
peace would be declared between the two troops. She calls a meeting with the women in the city and
include them in her vindictive ideas to bring the war to an end. This play is sure to bring a smile to the
readers face due to the comical events that occur. However, comedy is not the only thing that becomes
apparent within the play. Throughout the work of Lysistrata there are three themes that become
apparent during this play: peace and harmony, control by gender, and politics.
Peace and Harmony is the central theme in the play. Lysistrata is out to end the prolonged war. After
consideration on how to accomplish her wishes, and idea finally arises. Lysistrata holds a meeting
with all the women to become rebellious and refuse to have sexual relations with the men. During this
meeting between all the women, Lysistrata states, From now on, no more penises for you (Line 124).
The women first do not know how to react as they have not seen their husbands in months. However,

Marcus Aurelius And Stoicism
After the death of Aristotle, philosophy that targeted greater complex depths was outrun by philosophy
that focused on mere everyday lives. With the rise and fall of Skepticism, Cynicism, and Epicureanism
there was an influence that survived years impacting life and that was Stoicism. Zeno of Citium who
believed that the world had an ultimate plan and everything including nature, animals, and humans,
were there for a reason (Hergenhahn Henley, 2014, p. 66). The reason Stoicism was easily used is
because it was well suited with the way Romans highlighted their law and order giving the extensive
coverage displayed by many philosophers, including Marcus Aurelius. Marcus Aurelius, was born in
121 C.E. Growing up his focus of education was overseen by Emperor Hadrian and soon taken over
by Emperor Antonius teaching him more of a rhetoric (Sellars, 2002). As the years progressed he
shifted in to a study of philosophy leading to him becoming what we know as one of the most
important Stoic philosophers. Marcus Aurelius became an emperor in A.D. 160 lasting to A.D.180. he
was working closely with Lucius Verus in 169 and his son Commodus in 177 (Crook, 2017). Marcus
Aurelius later passed away in A.D. 180, yet his most personal literature is still read today, Meditations.
Marcus Aurelius and his philosophies were composed down in a collection of his intimate writings
titled Meditations. The compilations and stories that Meditations follows are the influence of Stoicism

Child Sexual Abuse
All children have certainly many experiences before they became truly mature. A child can face lot of
dangerous things from the environment surrounding them which might seriously affect their whole
life. As definition in the Federal Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act: Child abuse is any action
from adult to a child that it could be harmful to the child s body or mental (Children Welfare
Information Gateway 2007). In 2005, among 3.6 million investigations by Child Protective Services
agencies in the U.S, an estimated 899,000 children (24.97%) were confirmed to be victims of child
abuse (Children s Bureau 2005). In generally, there are 4 typical kinds of child abuse: neglect,
physical abuse, sexual abuse and emotional maltreatment. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is quietly simple to understand that children have to suffer certain visible injuries on their body
causing by abused actions. Sometimes, an abused child terribly bears a fractal hurt as broken bones or
burns. Even though, these damages are not only retaining on physical body but also changing child s
brain cells. In 2005, as report by the Administration for Children Families, amount 16.6% victims
were practically subjected to physical abuse in the U.S (Children s Bureau 2005). Recently researchers
in Canada and United States found that neglect can create transform in genetic material RNA (Fox, M
2008).
Child abuse, especially sexual abuse, has badly influenced on the child s behaviors. Besides the
physical and mental painfulness, abused child might jump into bad social activities, such as:
adolescent pregnant, crime tendency, drugs addiction, etc. (Family Resource Center 2008). Based on
recent studies, there were ¼ of abused children became pregnant, almost 59% arrested as teenagers
and 3.8 times attacked by drug additions (Childhelp 2006). Few months ago, there was a heart
breaking story about Leatrice Brewer lived in New Cassel, New York who was arrested as a serial
killer of 3 children but believed not her blame because Brewer was considered as drugs additions and
experience of abuse during childhood (Vitello, P 2008).
Child abuse also makes a lot of invisible hurts to child s emotion. Although painfulness of physical

The Old Breed
Firstly, With the Old Breed at Peleliu and Okinawa, was a very interesting book. I am an individual
that is not a fan of reading, but this book was interesting to say the lease. I would recommend anyone
who is interested in knowing about the reality of going into the combat. In this book, I was very
impressed that the author of the book, who goes by the name of Eugene B. Sledge, did an amazing job
telling the readers in details what he experienced during his enlistment. Eugene Sledge, who was also
a Marine and proud to be with Company K, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine regiment, 1st Marine Division,
made sure to take his memoir to an entire different level than other memoirs, that gave an account of
what they may have experienced during the war. E.B. Sledge, made ... Show more content on

Okinawa was known as the longest and largest battle (157). This time, causing more casualties than
previously. As mentioned previously, Okinawa was Japanese territory and they knew the terrain
perfectly. This time, not only was there constant rain, but constant shelling. Constant shelling made it
very difficult for Americans. It was very difficult for them to get those men who were wounded and
needed help. Taking such risk, would sometimes cause the casualties and stretcher bearers to get hit.
As a result, they would have to leave behind the marines who died on Okinawa unlike Peleliu. From
my experience, of all the hardships and hazards the troops had suffer, prolonged shell fire was more
apt to break a man psychologically than anything else (265). The Americans had to be vigilant at all
times. Most nights on Peleliu, we had to keep a sharp lookout in front, rear, right and left. But that
night on Okinawa, we had to scan even the dark sky for parachutes (220). The Japanase wanted to
ensure by any means necessary that there was bloodshed, even if they had to literally put their own life
on the line. To ensure that, the Japanese had kamikaze and suicide

Narrow-Personal Narrative
Have you ever had that feeling of deja vu? You hear an old song and connect to it. You walk down a
certain street and it seems familiar. You meet someone and instantly it s like you ve known them your
entire life. That s what it was like when I met my best friend Tori. I met Tori at the local park when I
was thirteen. She was wearing red doc martens and so was I. So I sauntered over to her with a smirk
on my face and told her that I liked her shoes. I told her she had good taste. Tori laughed at that and
insisted this was a sign we had to be friends. Instantly we clicked and soon she was coming over to my
house every other day. It was like we were meant to meet. We were the kind of best friends that

Seeing my best friend lying still in coffin was a dose of unwanted reality. I broke down sobbing at the
sight. Three months after that and I started to get back into my daily routine. However, Tori s presence
at my side was something constantly missing. Missing Tori was a dull ache that never really went
away. I didn t know that Tori s presence would soon be making a reappearance. My phone alarm rung
on a Wednesday and pulled me away from my thoughts. I had five minutes to leave the house and
head to school or I d be late. I quickly shoved my red doc martens on my feet and headed to school.
Tori used to go to the same highschool as me and being there without her was difficult. At least the
new kid in history class seemed cool I thought to myself. I got to school right before the bell rings and
I had to rush to my first class. I walked into my history class and plopped down into an empty seat.
The new kid was seated at my right side. He was attractive with his dark hair falling into his eyes and
the constant aloof expression on his face. I was intrigued by him and the air of mystery around him.
No one knew where he came from. He just had transferred recently and he wasn t very

Question #1: Let us assume that a full feature movie in MP4 format has a size of 2.4GB. How long
would it take to download such a movie over: a) a T1 connection b) a T3 connection c) a cable modem
with 2Mbps connection d) a telephone modem of 56Kbps Answer #1: Before specifically talk about
how long the 2.4GB will take to completely get downloaded, I would like to talk about the difference
between Byte (B) and bits (b) first. A bit is a single number or a single value which can be either 0 or
1 and this value is represent the digital information. A byte is a sequence of bits; like a sequence of
digital information, usually eight bits equals to one byte. Now coming to the question, whenever you
are downloading any file or software over internet it takes time to get downloaded depending on the
downloading speed of your internet connection. Similarly, if we refer to the question and assume to
download a MP4 format movie of total size 2.4GB (gigabytes), the downloading time of our movie
will depend on the type of connection we are using. Below are few types of connection which can tell

Employment in a Technological World Essay
The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that as of September 2011, a whopping 9.1 percent of the
American people are unemployed, meaning 14 million possible workers can t find a suitable job (
National Employment Monthly Update par. 1). Many of the jobs that were once available to millions
have been made obsolete by the creation of new technology. On the other hand, information and
engineering technology have established a vast number of skilled and unskilled jobs in the business
sector and many research fields. The balance between creation and destruction is applicable to the
effects of technology in today s society and has been studied since the ancient civilizations. With the
arrival of new technology every day, there is a constant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The familiar connotative meaning of the term centers on the use of machines new lathes, robots,
computers, and the like. However, any better, faster, or more efficient way of producing is a
technological advancement; better knowledge will suffice, even without a new tool or machine. (2)
Even though the most common reason for any person to be laid off is new machinery that can do there
job for them, the simple knowledge of a more efficient strategy for solving a problem is enough to
make any position obsolete. With an ordinary knowledge of these terms, understanding the effects of
technology on unemployment is quite simple. The most apparent issue that employment faces today is
the creation of new technology that crushes the need for many jobs but it may also result in an
increase of job stability and future employment. As new technology is produced, it often demands an
increase in skilled laborers for that firm or sector which eliminates many professions for the unskilled
laborers(Handel 3). To elaborate it is explained that, While technological advancement over the long
run does not lead to unemployment problems, but rather is the engine for higher standards of living
with either more or less employment at the discretion of individuals, short run problems may certainly
arise from technological advancement if there are imperfections in labor and product

Effects of British Colonial Rule in India

The colonization of India and the immense transfer of wealth that moved from the latter to Britain
were vital to the success of the British Empire. In fact, the Viceroy of British India in 1894 called
India the pivot of our Empire ... I examine the effects of the Industrial Revolution on the subcontinent.
Besides highlighting the fact that without cheap labor and raw materials from India, the modernization
of Britain during this era would have been highly unlikely, I will show how colonial policy led to the
privation and death of millions of natives. I conclude that while India undoubtedly benefited from
British colonial rule, the negatives for the subject population far outweighed the positives.

Second, British India, which included today s India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, was a region so large
that there were areas in which Britain exercised direct control over the subject population and others
where it exerted indirect control. It is exceedingly difficult, therefore, to extrapolate from one
experience to another. Although it is impossible to determine how India would have developed had
England never established a dominating presence there, I find the results of British colonialism to
have been a mixed bag for India: the negatives, however, far outweighed the positives.
Liberal and democratic aspects of British colonialism in India played a significant role in leading to a
democratic South Asia following Indian independence in 1947. Yet, the British first through the East
India Company and then through direct government control held almost all of the political and
economic power in India during the Empire s expansion and apogee, guaranteeing the Indian economy
could not evolve and/or function independent of the ruling power s control; ensuring raw materials
extracted from Indian soil would go towards British manufacturing industries mostly without profiting
the vast majority of Indians; and leading to lives of privation for millions of indigenous subjects.
Although there have been arguments made that, in political and

It Is The Greatest Mystery Of All
How can a three pound mass of jelly that you can hold in your palm imagine angels, contemplate the
meaning of infinity, and even question its own place in the cosmos? Especially awe inspiring is the
fact that any single brain, including yours, is made up of atoms that were forged in the hearts of
countless, far flung stars billions of years ago. These particles drifted for eons and light years until
gravity and change brought them together here, now. These atoms now form a conglomerate your
brain that can not only ponder the very stars that gave it birth but can also think about its own ability
to think and wonder about its own ability to wonder. With the arrival of humans, it has been said, the
universe has suddenly become conscious of itself. This, truly, it the greatest mystery of all. VS
Ramachandran
After the first unit and research paper, the classmates of PSYV 358 learned all about what
consciousness is: how it is defined, different theories of why it exists, its benefits. I specifically
learned that consciousness could ultimately be defined as the state or quality of awareness. It is often
described as an evolved property, one that as far as we are able to define, is unique to humans at the
level of self consciousness. Going back to Chalmers, and the neuroscientific problems of
consciousness, it could be said that answering where is consciousness? would fall under the category
of the hard problem. Restated from the last research paper, the hard problem is

Duality Of War
I found Copenhagen to be intriguing and complex as Frayn combined science with philosophical
insight through the story of two of the most significant physicists, Bohr and Heisenberg. The play
delves into the battle of ethics regarding the use of science for war efforts. Rather than trying to
discover raw facts of the conversation between Bohr and Heisenberg regarding the formation of the
atomic bomb, Frayn focuses on the friendship between the two scientists. I find this approach
important as it highlights the humanity in the situation. The relationship between the two strains and
breaks do to due to their opposing politics and ethics regarding the use of physics in the war. Beneath
the structure of their relationship and the concepts of quantum mechanics, Frayn reaches for meaning
far deeper. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through Heisenberg, Frayn points to the idea that we can never truly know a person and the things
that the person has done at a given time and perhaps that we cannot know anything about the past or
future. And through Bohr, Frayn puts forward that we can only act and thereby live or think about
acting and thereby die. Moreover, we never truly know what happened during the conversation
between the two. However, Frayn ends with an optimistic note suggesting that each moment in the
present is precious in part because of its uncertainty, of its well defined place and poorly defined
meaning. Through the historical conversation between Bohr and Heisenberg, Frayn expresses the
philosophy suggesting a degree of uncertainty that bleeds into every aspect of our relationships and

Common Elements Of Censorship In Fahrenheit 451 And 1984
The Element of Censorship Between Fahrenheit 451 1984 When reading 1984 by George Orwell and
Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, you start to see a common element between these two novels, this
element is censorship by the government. What is censorship? Censorship is the suppression of a
publication of any media considered offensive or a threat to security. Both of these novels showed
censorship elements in their passage by using technology and manipulation on their society to push
their agenda. For instance, in 1984 their government was a totalitarian government that was run by the
Inner party, which regulated the people of Oceania through language and monitoring their thoughts. In
Fahrenheit 451 it has the same element of censorship by the government. The government censors the
people of Fahrenheit 451 by using the firemen as an enforcement censorship by burning down homes
that contain books. The common element of censorship between these two novels showed the
controlling grip the government had on their societies by asserting their power of fear through
censorship Whenever a person uses censorship they are trying to get control of something. In the
novel 1984, the inner party has censorship over the people of Oceania by censoring the history,
language, and thoughts. In 1984 the main character was named Winston worked for The Ministry of
Truth where he was in charge of altering the writing records. Winston s daily task at the Ministry of

Health Inclusion Issues Affecting People with a Learning...
In this essay I will discuss the health inclusion issues affecting people with a learning disability with
regards to healthy eating and diet.
The Department of Health in England (DH 2001) defined learning disability as: a significantly
reduced capability in understanding new or information of greater complexity, to learn new skills as
well as a reduced ability to get by independently. The beginning of a learning disability is believed to
be cause by event taken place before adulthood, having a lasting effect on the person s development.
People with learning disabilities are 2.5 times more likely to have health problems than other people
without a learning disability (Disability Rights Commission 2006). Despite the knowledge of this,
recent reports have highlighted that there is evidence that people with learning disabilities have higher
levels of unmet health needs and also receive less or no effective treatment, even though the
legislation that explicitly sets out a legal framework for effective delivery of equal treatment and
health inclusion for all (Disability Rights Commission 2006 and 2007)
Inclusion is the opposite of exclusion it means to be fully included, and with regards to health, to
receive equal and fair access to all health services irrespective of a person s race, sex, and disability,

Advantages Of Tourism In The Bahamas
The tourism industry today is a big business for a country, it is the number one industry of The
Bahamas. It is the migration of individuals from one place to another for a short period of time.
Tourism in The Bahamas accounts for seventy percent of the country s national income and employs
fifty percent of the population. Tourism is further considered the main source of The Bahamas income.
Tourism in The Bahamas may have several impact on the country both good and bad.
According to the Research Statistics Department of the Ministry of Tourism some of the advantages of
tourism in The Bahamas includes the provision of jobs for the Bahamian people. Some of these jobs
are directly and indirectly related to tourism. Ministry of Tourism further states that about 30% of

Medea Essay
Euripides always expressed his point of views towards the culture of Ancient Greeks, mostly hatred
and enmity. However his safety was a major concern due to the irrational behaviour of the ancient
Greeks and his close friends and family members. Thus he expressed his notions by giving speaking
power to his characters. Medea has been given the same property. In Medea, Euripides discusses
exclusively about the gender segregation and inequality. He criticises men for considering themselves
a dominant figure of the society. However this criticism is presented in form of a tragedy which
unfolds in the city of Corinth. Medea, a contrast of the ancient Greek women, shows the

This power provided her a strong base to plan for revenge from Jason. As mentioned, her cruelty had
no set boundaries and limitations. Thus she didn t hesitate to continue with her cruel plan and
murdered the princess in attempt to revenge Jason. Executing her plan was a suicidal attempt and
hence she managed to escape due to her future planning. This symbolises the true ambition and desire
of Medea and her determination and so Euripides also conveys his ideology about women. Medea, a
distinct character conveys strong message across the audience and allows them to reconsider the legal
rights of women. Not in the modern era but in the ancient times, recognition of women was a major
dilemma for the society. Other than that Euripides tries to justify Medea s evilness by providing
reasons and by letting Medea express her love for Jason. She chooses vengeance over law, this doesn t
only show the dignity of Medea, it also presents the deep emotions of hers which conquered her mind
and forced her to commit an unforgivable crime. After all she did for Jason, she only asked for his
loyalty and integrity. Upon Jason s betrayal, Medea shattered into pieces as she trusted Jason and his
moral values. Jason s compelling behaviour turned Medea into an evil who later turns into a murderer

Comparing Plato s The Republic
What mix of traits creates the perfect ruler? Some may say charisma, personability, or even good
looks. Throughout history, a plethora of leaders with different views have been successful for many
different kinds of societies. Depending on what the society needs, rulers change their ways as well as
do what they can for the good of their people. In Plato s The Republic, the character Socrates argues
with his peers about what makes the perfect society, as well as the perfect leader. According to Plato,
the wisest choice for a ruler in a near perfect society is a philosopher, containing multiple important
attributes. A wide variety of characteristics are covered, yet Plato seems to focus in on several key
foundations. Plato s views on essential traits of a philosopher focus on the necessity of truth and thirst
for knowledge. Perhaps the most important trait of a philosopher is the ability to learn. This trait is
important because if it pains a philosopher to learn, they can t be expected to enjoy it or have much
success (486 c). The idea of constantly wanting more knowledge is abundant. Plato often states that a
yearning for knowledge will come at a young age, and that it won t be easy (485 d). Searching for
knowledge is a lifelong commitment that takes dedication and persistence. He also gives a counter
example while talking about the timarchic character as well as the oligarchic society. Due to an
imperfect education, the timarchic leader will have inner conflict when it

Types Of Relationships Between Parents And Adolescents
Types of relationships. There are different types of relationships between adults and adolescents and
they all have different dynamics. Miller Day discussed four different types of relationships between
parents and adolescents. Although they were discussed as parent adolescent relationships, these types
of relationships can also exist between school counselors and adolescent students. Miller Day
described laissez faire, consensual, pluralistic, and protective relationships. These types of
relationships all differ in their combination of conversation orientation and conformity orientation.
Laissez faire relationships have low conversation and low conformity, consensual relationships have
high conversation and high conformity, pluralistic relationships have high conversation and low
conformity, and protective conversations have low conversation and high conformity (2008).
Awareness of the different types of relationships is important because it determines how an adolescent
receives a message from an adult. Conversation orientation refers to the amount of discussion on a

Analysis Of Enuma Elish s The Garden Of Eden Essay
The story of Enuma Elish are inscribed on 7 cuneiform tablets which was recovered by a collector
named AH Layard in Iraq. This story has some parallel tales told in the Old Testament such as
Genesis, Exodus and the Psalms. In Enuma Elish presented to the father and mother as Apsu and
Tiamat represented as saltwater and freshwater and were present before the creation of the universe.
The epic begins this way: When on high ... No heaven HAD Been named, called earth No, not
Annunaki ... There was nothing ... nothing but Old Father Apsu and Mummu Tiamat, Mother of All
Living . This describes a series of Gods that were created and later gained wisdom leading to a
similarity to Genesis presenting the tree of knowledge in the Garden of Eden and so says: Increasing
in wisdom, in understanding and in ...strength. Apsu planned to destroy the gods to form a universe of
order in a chaotic world. Ea is another god who kills Apsu to prevent what he had planned. Genesis
also describes a world full of chaos and God decided to give skills to everyone in order to bring a new
order. In Enuma Elish, Ea joins Damkina and has a divine and perfect son whom they call Marduk. In
the tablet fragments, phrases were recited found in the Bible, such as Divine the womb That bore him
(Luke 11:27), My beloved is! My son, who is my Sun, Sun for all the Heavens (Matt 3:17). Within the
epic Kingu mate Tiamat which motivated to make monsters to kill the other gods. Tiamat think

When a customer buys a bottle of Champagne she buys a bottle of good quality wine. She also pays
for the fact that the wine is exclusive, it is from the region of Champagne and that is something that
differentiates it from other sparkling wine. This is something the customer experiences as added value
to the product. However, this value does not count as much when the product becomes available to a
bigger number of customers. It looses its exclusiveness. When it comes to sparkling wine that is not
from Champagne the Spanish Cava and the Italian Prosecco have long been two popular varieties.
Today, in the UK, there is also a growing interest in sparkling wine from the United Kingdom
Target Segmentation
Market segmentation is the process of dividing a market into segments or groups that have identifiable
differences between them. For the wine industry, we will be using 4 bases of marketing segments
divide the UK population. The 4 classic marketing segments are geography, demography, psychograph
and behavioural.
Demographics wise, UK has ranked all the households in a country by disposable income, and
classified them into 10 deciles. Consumer reports have reported that the middle income deciles,
deciles 4,5 and 6, averaged around 29.6% of their income on alcoholic beverages and tobacco
(Euromonitor International, 2011). This target segment has an annual income ranging from £20,000 to
£30,000. Our marketing plan would be

Theme Of Anger In Romeo And Juliet
The first aspect of anger in the play is the ever lasting feud and the rivalry between the Capulets and
the Montagues. This feud includes every one of every rank and ranges from the masters of the two
houses and their sons to the servants and keepers. The reason for this feud is not introduced but the
disastrous violence , riot , quarrels , and blood shedding resulting from this rivalry is described. The
danger is lurking and the strife might break out at any moment as described by Hickey: The time of
the action of the play Romeo and Juliet lasts only for five days. It is a time of a strife that can burst at
any moment due to the slightest provocation .The heat of men s mind is similar to the heat of the
atmosphere .The mad blood is stirring in these days .At any moment the lightning may blast and the
crashing of the thunder be heard.(62) Shakespeare uses a variety of techniques that enhance the tone
of the play .one of the them is the use of the chorus .The chorus at the beginning of the play gives us
an account of the nature of anger of both houses stating that their hands are stained with bloods: Two
households, both alike in dignity, In fair Verona, where we lay our scene, From ancient grudge break

Cosme Tura s Work
Cosmè Tura was one of the first Netherlandish painters to master the oil technique in Italy. Most of his
works were lost but one of his most known artworks, the organ doors are preserved in a museum. The
organ doors contain two of his artworks, one when it is open and another when it is closed. For most
of his life he was a court painter in Ferrara for the d Este dukes. His two most important contributions
are being an official court painter and being an important figure in the School of Ferrara.
Tura was born in 1430 in the city of Ferrara, Italy where he lived for most of his life. Giorgio Vasari
wrote that Turo was a student of Galasso Galassi and the the two worked together at the ducal seat of
Belriguado, where Tura would decorate a chapel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
St George and the Princess was also painted on canvas with tempera paint. The background of St
George and the Princess is a mountain with a road going up to the top where there is a building. Also
the princess is running away scared from St George who is on the horse. This painting by Tura is a
good painting but a little hard to understand.
Without Cosmè Tura the world today would be very different. Since, Tura used the oil technique for
most of his paintings it would not be as popular without him. Also he helped a lot with the School of
Ferrara so the school may not have even existed. Without the School of Ferrara many of the good
artists from the 15th century would not be well known. Tura may not have been the best or most
known artist but he contributed to many important things. The two things that helped Tura to become
more successful were working for the d Este dukes and being a big figure in the Ferrara School. Some
of the artworks he made besides the ones for the organ doors were, A Muse (Calliope?), Saint Jerome,
The Virgin and the Enthroned, and The Virgin Annunciate. Cosme Tura was an artist who grew up in
the small town of Ferrara but in his later years became a very successful man. Will we ever discover

Battle of Vimy Ridge
Many countries have tried but failed to capture this area. Both French and British armies tired but
failed the Germans were too strong. This area was known as Vimy Ridge, which has many high hills
and was located in France. The Germans had captured this area since September 1914, the Germans
started to build artillery proof bunkers and trenches. Germanys had the advantage in every battle;
Germanys had their bases on top of the long hills. Which lead them to look down on their enemies,
which was easier for Germanys to kill their target. After countries failing to capture Vimy Ridge,
Canada decided they were going to attempt to fight for Vimy Ridge. For the first time Britain asked
for generals to lead Canada to victory for the battle of Vimy Ridge. Sir Julian Byng and Major Arthur
Currie were asked to lead the Canadian Military to win the battle of Vimy Ridge. After months of
practicing a strategy Canada was ready. April 1917, Canada went to battle with Germany for Vimy
Ridge. This became one of the most devastating battles ¬in Canadian history. Canadians should
remember that Vimy Ridge was not their triumph alone. British artillery and the elite 51st Highland
Division helped make victory possible (Desmond Morton, Significance of Vimy Ridge). Vimy Ridge
is considered a defining moment in Canadian history because, it was Canada s first time using a
general to plan tactics and strategy s, Canada was the only country that succeeded on capturing Vimy

Prisons and the UK Criminal Justice System
The ongoing role of prison within the UK Criminal Justice System is becoming increasingly unclear.
On the one hand in the 21st century, it is considered to be a state strategy for crime control, a deterrent
for those contemplating crime and punitive response for those who have broken laws McAvinchey
(2011 pg.10). On the other hand, it is also supposed to have a rehabilitative purpose, the intended role
of a prison is to rehabilitate the offender so that when they have completed their prison sentence, they
can be successfully rehabilitated back into the community and live a crime free fulfilled life. Yet,
when examining the vital statistics that underline an increase in prisoner population, it is clearly

Everyone who is imprisoned inside Norwegian prisons will be released and will go back to society.
We look at what kind of neighbour you want to have when they come out. If you stay in a box for a
few years, then you are not a good person when you come out. If you treat them hard... well, we don t
think that treating them hard will make them a better man. We don t think about revenge in the
Norwegian prison system. We have much more focus on rehabilitation , Guardian newspaper (2012).
This focus on rehabilitation as opposed to punishment appears to have had positive effects, as
reoffending rates were less than 30% in 2013 in Norway, Guardian newspaper (2012). This was the
lowest reoffending rate in Europe in that year; it is currently half of the reoffending rates within the
UK. It could be said that this therapeutic type of prison is controversial, as one may argue that they are
not punishing offenders for the crimes that they have committed, with the belief that prison life should
not be enjoyable. Osbourne from the New York Times argues that prisons should not be a place of
enjoyment if things are made... pleasant for convicts.. the result

Essay On Affluence In Messes Of Dresses

they were talking about; affluence does not bring happiness. True happiness comes from within. It is
not based on outside, materialistic factors. One such way to get happiness is through, good,
wholesome relationships. Good relationships cannot be bought, no matter how much money one is

Utopia By Thomas More s Utopia
In Thomas More s Utopia, the character Thomas More writes a letter to Peter Giles of this island
nation Raphael told him about called Utopia. At this point Thomas more is in Denmark (?) making
negotiations when he meets Raphael who introduces him to the thought and place of Utopia. More
heard that it is a wonderful place ruled entirely by logic, but in the end he tells Peter Giles that he does
not know how well that would actually work. In Utopia, everything is perfect because the Utopians
use logic or emotion. Utopia is run by logic. The Utopians get a lot done in a small amount of time
because everything is done through logic, there are no feelings involved whatsoever. England is the
exact opposite of Utopia. In England, there are a lot of social issues because everything is run by
feeling. While the English do use logic in some of their choices, a lot of their choices are often made
by what feels right at the time. Utopia, as More describes it, would not be possible in his time because
of Utopia lives by logic especially in the religious, judicial, and political systems while England runs
by first feeling, then tradition, then law, and then logic. In Utopia, the religious system is very open to
everybody. Because Utopia is run by logic and everybody just kind of minds their own business,
people can believe what they want to believe. A Utopian can believe in anything from Catholicism all
the way to Scientology. In England, this is much more difficult. There is no

2.Culture
The origin of the word culture comes from the Latin verb colere = tend, guard, cultivate, till . This
concept is a human construct rather than a product of nature. The use of the English word in the sense
of cultivation through education is first recorded in 1510. The use of the word to mean the intellectual
side of civilization is from 1805; that of collective customs and achievements of a people is from
1867. The term Culture shock was first used in 1940.
Culture is a mixture including knowledge, belief, art, law, morality and conventions shared by nearly
all the members of a specific society and separating one group member from another; other skills and
habits; also common attitudes and responsibilities learned subsequently, such as original lifestyles,
emotions, etc. It has played a crucial role in human evolution, allowing human beings to adapt the
environment to their own purposes rather than depend solely on natural selection to achieve adaptive
success. Every human society has its own particular culture, or socio cultural system.

Big-Business and How It Is Affecting All Americans
A lot of these big businesses run similarly to dictatorship or communist countries, a person or small
group making the decisions for the masses, which these policies only apply to the masses and not the
group making the decision. Being above the corporate policies set forth for the worker allows these
greedy employers to promise the world if the employee works hard to accomplish the company s goals
of profit. Then, when the employer wants more and the employee is not capable. They call the
employee into the office to lay them off with no benefit other than the benefit of experience working
in the company. Although there is still the opportunity for the American dream, big business decisions
are helping that dream fade away because of greed. These large corporations are pushing the
percentage margin of profits to exceed well over twice the amount of capital; most of it goes into the
pockets of the executives, that the company put in at the begin through the strategy of; laying off
employees, closing work sites, and buying out the smaller competition. However, the sovereignty of
America is slowly dwindling away by the loss of buying power of the US dollar, through the impact of
the decisions made by these small executive groups of big corporate America and foreign companies
trying to beat the market leader. They clearly do this by lowering the cost of a similar product below
what American companies can compete. It is easy to conclude that absolute power corrupts absolutely;

Affirmative action helps universities have a much needed diversity among the campuses. Without
affirmative action in place the enrollment numbers for minorities are thought to plummet. It is thought
that the rate of African American student enrollment would drop an astonishing 18 percent. The
Hispanic enrollment would drop about one half. With this would cause the feeling of prejudice and
discrimination. Affirmative action has decreased and is thought that this has happened because of the
expense. One expense is financial aid as people feel that many minorities need financial aid. Financial
aid is used by all races so this is an untrue statement. Affirmative action is still needed for diversity
and the commonwealth of universities around the country. IT has been said that we must not forget
this country s history, with our history of racism and discrimination, it is very important to keep
affirmative action in our modern society. History has been said to prevail. Opponents of affirmative
action deem it as stereotypical and discriminative in itself. This is not a true statement. Affirmative
action is equal opportunities for minorities, to receive the same education and earnings as the majority.

How Children View Apologies
Apologies are very important and quite powerful in societies. People vary in how they view apologies,
specifically, children compared to adults. Children and adults are very different considering their
emotional development and it plays a large role in how they view apologies. Previous research on
apologies targeted adults, so there is not much known on how children view them. This is why Smith,
Chen, and Harris (2010) conducted a study focusing on how children view apologies on an emotional
level. The two emotional functions they studied was how a transgressor expressed their remorse and
the victim s alleviation of upset feelings after a moral transgression took place.

(2010) formulated many hypotheses which were the starting point in discovering the missing
information on this subject. They were first concerned with what the children s attributions would be
like to the transgressor, depending on whether they apologized or not. A study, that did not involve an
apology, was done by Nunner Winkler Sodian (1988) where they had discovered that 4 year olds
attributed positive emotions while 8 year olds were more likely to attribute negative feelings. Smith et
al. (2010) used the data from this happy victimizer study into consideration when formulating their
own hypothesis. They expected that when there was no apology given, young children would attribute
positive feelings, but older children would attribute mixed feelings. They came to this assumption for
the younger children because they focus mainly on whether the transgressor fulfilled their desire or
not. So, if they did fulfill it, they would attribute positive feelings. Which follows the happy victimizer
expectancy. Although Nunner Winkler Sodian (1998) found that older children attribute negative
feelings, they expected them to attribute mixed feelings for several reasons. Firstly, Arsenio Kramer
(1992) found 6 to 8 year olds to have mixed feelings; secondly, Nunner Winkler Sodain (1998) claim
that older children focus on the feelings of the transgressor about causing upset or harm when
attributing emotions. Also, they believed the happy victimizer expectancy would

A hurricane is a tropical cyclone, with winds that reaches over 74 miles per hour. In the Southern
Hemisphere a hurricane circulates clockwise, and in the Northern Hemisphere it circulates
counterclockwise. Hurricanes usually occur during the summer and fall seasons because that is when
the water temperature is at its warmest. There are various stages that a hurricane goes through to
become one and there are also various ways to track down a hurricane too.
The first stage of a hurricane is called a tropical disturbance. The wind speed is less than twenty five
miles per hour, with a slight open circulation going on. The tropical disturbance consists of clouds,

The eye is located in the center of the hurricane. An eye wall surrounds the eye, and is the most
intense region of rainfall and winds. Hurricanes are the Earth s strongest tropical cyclones, which can
cause a significant amount of damage. It is rated according to their wind speed on the Saffir Simpson
scale. The ranges of the scale go from one to five, with one being the weakest and five being the
strongest. When the hurricane reaches to cooler land or water, it rapidly loses its intensity.
There are many different ways to track down a hurricane and one of the ways is by a satellite. In 1960,

photos. These photos can help meteorologist gather information by putting the several hours of the
pictures together and predict where the hurricane is heading.
The Doppler radar is another way that meteorologist can track down a hurricane. The Doppler radar
can detect rain that is associated with the tropical cyclones. It is 200 to 250 mile distance radar
coverage. The radar estimates the amount of rain that has fallen, and it estimates the movement, and

The Things That Makes One Tick
In other words, what are the things that makes one tick? That brings us to choose certain paths, even if
the underlying truth of these paths hasn t been recognized. The things that makes us ticks can be
thought of mistakes. A professor of psychology and behavioral economics, Dan Ariely, studied this
issue up close. Through his book, Predictably Irrational, these mistakes are both explained and
contextualized as human error. Something that all of us do on a daily basis without any recognition.
And even when we recognize our misconceptions, we still have a tendency to do it again. While
reading Predictably Irrational, I came across several personal . Things like, procrastination and
overvaluing materialistic things are two of many misconceptions I have been aberrant to. We, humans,
have a tendency to be aberrant, walking out of reasonable paths and into irrational ones. Ariely
thoroughly explains how emotions dictate behaviors and decisions we make. Us procrastinators,
acknowledge that we do infact procrastinate. The real problem is how we act, knowing we have
tendencies to procrastinate. Emotions rush through our veins and speaks louder then our
consciousness. As Ariely explained, we are in the cool state when we are making promises such as,
spending less or exercising more with a diet. But as soon as we spot materialistic things, our emotions
come rush in bringing us to the hot state. When we ignore our long term goals for the immediate
fulfilment, we are in fact

Uranium in the Four Corners Essay
Not since the 1980 s has a recent surge of uranium mining claims occured in the Four Corners region.
Energy Fuel Resources Inc. has placed its Canyon Mine on standby and expects to resume shaft
sinking operations December of next year, when an official court ruling is made and depending on
market conditions. Earlier this year the Havasupai Tribe and a coalition of conservation groups sued
the United States Forest Service for allowing Energy Fuel Resources Inc. to operate a mine under a
1986 federal environmental review without tribal consultation. The Canyon mine was previously in
non operational status due to low uranium stock prices in 1992. Opponents of the uranium mining

All water is evaporated according to Moore, including rain and snowfall, but opponents of the mining
proposition fear the potential impact uranium could have, claiming that radioactive levels tend to be
above the natural background. Bahr argues that the aquifer protection permit is essentially a general
permit that minimally enforces monitoring and groundwater protection. Referring to mining industry
claims that these sites have minimal surface disturbance Bahr states, It is blight upon the land... but it
doesn t take much for contamination. Conservation groups argue that irreversible damage to important
waters like Havasu Creek will occur if radioactive contaminants reach the groundwater that supply
springs and seeps in the Grand Canyon. In addition to environmental concerns, opponents argue that
government regulation is too lax and as Bahr states, It is all too easy to mine on public lands and the
Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management have made it extremely easy to validate claims.

Edward The Elder Research Paper
Very little is known about Edward the Elder s childhood. His exact birth is unknown, but some say it
was around 871 A.D. in Wessex. He was the son of King Alfred the Great and Ealhswith of Mercia.
He was educated at court and his father trained him to be a warrior. Edward the Elder was married 3
times and had fourteen children.
Edward the Elder became King in 899 A.D. when his father King Alfred died. He was crowned King
on June 8, 900 A.D. He reigned as King from 900 A.D. to 924 A.D. After King Alfred s death, a
rebellion broke out against Edward the Elder. His cousin Aethelwold did not support Edward as King
and he looked to The Norse Kingdom of York as an ally. Aethelwold and his allies attacked Mercia
and Wessex and he was killed at the Battle of Holme. Edward continued to expand his territory and
made peace with the north by 909 A.D. Along with Mercia, his armies raided the northwest the
following year. The West Saxons and the Mercians defeated the Northern Vikings. Edward the Elder
then focused on conquering the Danes. Along with his sister, Lady Aethelflaed of Mercia, Edward the
Elder continued to push the boundaries of Wessex and Mercia northward. They achieved this with a
military strategy using defensive burghs created by their father. After Aethelflaed died in 918 A.D.,

Reverses Upon The Burning Of My House By Ann Bradstreet
In the poem,ÅNVerses Upon The Burning of My House, a 17th century Puritan woman, Ann
Bradstreet discusses the several thoughts that came to her mind as her house burned during war. Even
though several Puritanś were angry with their God during this time, Bradstreet shows lengths of
thankfulness and compassion for her God through her midst of pain and struggle. Specifically, she
states . blest his Name that gave and took,ÅN showing her sense of graditude towards her God. She
understands that she will not be able to take any of these earthly possesions to heaven, and knows that
God is everlasting. Later in the text, she refers to her God as an almighty architect, showing that she
trusts the plans he has for her. Throughout this poem, Bradstreet shows qualities of ... Show more

people by using insects to compare them to Satan s evil schemes that catch one into entangling sins.
Taylor uses a fly to describe the people that were weak, and fell easily into Satan s web that would
bring them to death. He later compares the fly to a wasp, that frees itself from the net of sin by
fighting off the spider, showing strength and courage. He emphasizes these characters so that he can
encourage Puritans of this time to fight off the sins that trouble them, and God will protect them if
they are willing. By referring to Satan as the spider that spin[s] a web out of thyself, he is warning the
people to have courage, and go against the sins that so easily entangle, which is also said in the bible.
In the sermon, City Upon a Hill, the early 17th century minister John Winthrop preaches to the many
people of England that are preparing themselves to lay their foundations and start a colony in America.
However, these people have a prideful manner, and believe that they are perfect as they are. Winthrop
warns them against these thoughts, saying that they will be punished if they don t

History of African Americans and Higher Education Essay...
For blacks, the history of higher education typically points to segregated education. Before the Civil
War, the social system promoted the belief that blacks wouldn t get return on their time spent in higher
education. Brown and Ricard (2007) noted that most North institutions were reluctant to allow black
enrollment in colleges and universities, and in the South, where slaveholder s were still powerhouse
businessmen, slaves would never be allowed to become more educated than their owners. The
reluctance of the White leaders to allow blacks to formally be accepted into higher education
programs held blacks back from achieving what many aspired to, and were fully capable of,
experience.

When ex slaves demanded a formal public schooling, they were really asking the South to develop and
embrace a relatively new philosophy of education. Effectively, they were having white southerners
pay for the education of people they once owned as property, and had the right to receive what most
whites in the region hadn t had available previously. According to Anderson (n.d.), the Reconstruction
Era (1877) presented a unique problem for black professionals. Although more blacks were becoming
qualified for educational and employment opportunities, the job demand shifted to industrial needs.
For black leaders, having to get industrial training instead of a broader, more useful education was a
beneficial short term answer for employment. The primary advocate for industrial training was Booker
T. Washington. Washington, educated at the Tuskegee Institute located in Alabama, expressed publicly
that manual labor will be more beneficial to individuals because that was the type of work available
(Anderson, n.d.). On the opposite side of Washington s argument for occupational training was W. E.
B. Du Bois. Du Bois, who came from Harvard, had higher aspirations than occupational education,
with a conviction that Black life and culture should be a primary topic of Black thought and
investigation (Anderson, n.d. p.1). Considering the value of a general degree in comparison to a

The Oral Hygiene Maintenance Of An Disabled Children
Preventive dentistry is still a comparatively new and least understood subject in our country as
maintenance of oral hygiene is often neglected and pushed aside . When it comes to the oral hygiene
maintenance of intellectually disabled children, it takes a backseat due to the more pressing need for
education and medical treatment . According to WHO, Oral health means more than good teeth; it is
integral to general health and essential for well being. We use our face and teeth as a front to face the
world. We speak, smile, taste, chew, express our self using our oro facial structure. Disease of this area
severely restricts our physical, psychological and social activities and thereby decreasing quality of
life. The wider meaning of oral health does not diminish the relevance of two globally leading oral
afflictions dental caries and periodontal diseases. Both can be effectively prevented and controlled
through a combination of community, professional and individual action.1,2
According to DSM 5 ( Diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders), Intellectual disability
(ID), also called Intellectual development disorder (IDD) or General learning disability, and formerly
known as mental retardation (MR), is a generalized neuro developmental disorder characterized by
significantly impaired intellectual and adaptive functioning. It is defined by an IQ score below 70 in
addition to deficits in two or more adaptive behaviors that affect everyday, general living. Once

The Social Effects Of Prohibition
Prohibition (the Volstead act) was a legal prevention under the 18th amendment to the constitution to
prohibit manufacturing, transporting and selling alcohol beverages in the U.S. during 1920s. The
temperance movement argued for a long time that more people addicted alcohol and increased
physical violence when they got drunk. (increase intoxication) The U.S. government expected the
prohibition to be a solution to social problems, implemented for the country s well being. On the other
hand, prohibition had negatively impacts on increasing the organized crime rate because there were

According to this estimated number of speak easies, more people went to speak easies for drinking

  • 2. The Virtue Of Order By The Reaction From The Crowd I was disappointed not only by the difficulty of adhering to the moral virtues, but also by the reaction from the crowd. I have now experienced the world differently, and should hope to be more fit to follow the virtues. I have grown older, and the the world has too, so it is logical that the virtues I mentioned previously should need to be modified. Many virtues such as Sincerity and Cleanliness, two moral virtues which I had no trouble accomplishing the previous time, remain applicable today. However, the virtue of Order was a bit troublesome, so I have decided to morph it into the virtue of Planning, for one cannot, however frustratingly, obtain complete control over the will of another. Planning in combination with Resolution seem to account for Order. Temperance and Moderation have been combined into just Moderation for they were awfully similar in my first experiment. I have decided to keep the other virtues, with new meanings which ought to do a better job at describing each one then previously, and a more lengthy explanation as to why the definition has been changed in the way it has. The revised virtues, the new precept, and my explanation of the change are now: Moderation Compromise by finding the middle ground; avoid the extreme. This is a mixture of Temperance and the original Moderation virtues. I feel satisfied with their original definitions, but I think they were too similar. This new definition takes the better half of each definition to try to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Volatile Aromatic Organic Compounds 1. Introduction The release of volatile aromatic organic compounds into the environment is a serious problem as they distribute between the different phases in natural systems. Sediments can be considered as a sink for volatile aromatic organic compounds because of their hydrophobic nature and the resulting affinity to the sediment s organic matter. Organic matter consists of soft carbon, where portioning is the main sorption process and hard carbon, where pore filling mechanisms dominate (Zhao et al., 2002; Chai et al., 2006). Consequently, sorption/desorption processes are the most important factors that determine the fate of volatile aromatic organic compounds in the environment. The extensive production and release of aromatic organic compounds has led to a widespread contamination of soils and sediments with these pollutants throughout the world, threatening drinking water resources, especially petroleum hydrocarbons as constituents of gasoline such as Benzene, 1,2 dichlorobenzene, Toluene and m xylene. It was proposed that sorption of the sorbate molecules may cause deformation of flexible sorbent solids, such as natural organic matter and organo clays resulting in an entrapment of sorbed molecules during desorption (Weber et al., 2002; Lu and Pignatello, 2004). Several researchers have tried to associate the maximum sorption capacities of organic compounds with the sorbed amounts in the slow and very slow desorbing domains (Van Heuvel et al., 2005; Van Heuvel and ... • 4. Summary Of Lysistrata Lysistrata by Aristophanes is seen to be a comical play used to show the impact of war not only on the ones physically in the war, but the ones mentally involved also. This play was written to help express the feeling the author had about the war occurring during the time the work was written. Lysistrata, the main character, is a strong woman who decides to become as what could be said as being rebellious . She does this by refusing to have sexual relations with the men in the city until it was agreed that peace would be declared between the two troops. She calls a meeting with the women in the city and include them in her vindictive ideas to bring the war to an end. This play is sure to bring a smile to the readers face due to the comical events that occur. However, comedy is not the only thing that becomes apparent within the play. Throughout the work of Lysistrata there are three themes that become apparent during this play: peace and harmony, control by gender, and politics. Peace and Harmony is the central theme in the play. Lysistrata is out to end the prolonged war. After consideration on how to accomplish her wishes, and idea finally arises. Lysistrata holds a meeting with all the women to become rebellious and refuse to have sexual relations with the men. During this meeting between all the women, Lysistrata states, From now on, no more penises for you (Line 124). The women first do not know how to react as they have not seen their husbands in months. • 5. Marcus Aurelius And Stoicism After the death of Aristotle, philosophy that targeted greater complex depths was outrun by philosophy that focused on mere everyday lives. With the rise and fall of Skepticism, Cynicism, and Epicureanism there was an influence that survived years impacting life and that was Stoicism. Zeno of Citium who believed that the world had an ultimate plan and everything including nature, animals, and humans, were there for a reason (Hergenhahn Henley, 2014, p. 66). The reason Stoicism was easily used is because it was well suited with the way Romans highlighted their law and order giving the extensive coverage displayed by many philosophers, including Marcus Aurelius. Marcus Aurelius, was born in 121 C.E. Growing up his focus of education was overseen by Emperor Hadrian and soon taken over by Emperor Antonius teaching him more of a rhetoric (Sellars, 2002). As the years progressed he shifted in to a study of philosophy leading to him becoming what we know as one of the most important Stoic philosophers. Marcus Aurelius became an emperor in A.D. 160 lasting to A.D.180. he was working closely with Lucius Verus in 169 and his son Commodus in 177 (Crook, 2017). Marcus Aurelius later passed away in A.D. 180, yet his most personal literature is still read today, Meditations. Marcus Aurelius and his philosophies were composed down in a collection of his intimate writings titled Meditations. The compilations and stories that Meditations follows are the influence of Stoicism along with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Eugene Sledge, who was also a Marine and proud to be with Company K, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine regiment, 1st Marine Division, made sure to take his memoir to an entire different level than other memoirs, that gave an account of what they may have experienced during the war. How long would it take to download such a movie over: a) a T1 connection b) a T3 connection c) a cable modem with 2Mbps connection d) a telephone modem of 56Kbps Answer #1: Before specifically talk about how long the 2.4GB will take to completely get downloaded, I would like to talk about the difference between Byte (B) and bits (b) first. Many of the jobs that were once available to millions have been made obsolete by the creation of new technology. On the other hand, information and engineering technology have established a vast number of skilled and unskilled jobs in the business sector and many research fields. (2) Even though the most common reason for any person to be laid off is new machinery that can do there job for them, the simple knowledge of a more efficient strategy for solving a problem is enough to make any position obsolete. With an ordinary knowledge of these terms, understanding the effects of technology on unemployment is quite simple. The most apparent issue that employment faces today is the creation of new technology that crushes the need for many jobs but it may also result in an increase of job stability and future employment. As new technology is produced, it often demands an increase in skilled laborers for that firm or sector which eliminates many professions for the unskilled laborers(Handel 3). To elaborate it is explained that, While technological advancement over the long run does not lead to unemployment problems, but rather is the engine for higher standards of living with either more or less employment at the discretion of individuals, short run problems may certainly arise from technological advancement if there are imperfections in labor and product ... Besides highlighting the fact that without cheap labor and raw materials from India, the modernization of Britain during this era would have been highly unlikely, I will show how colonial policy led to the privation and death of millions of natives. Second, British India, which included today s India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, was a region so large that there were areas in which Britain exercised direct control over the subject population and others where it exerted indirect control. Although it is impossible to determine how India would have developed had England never established a dominating presence there, I find the results of British colonialism to have been a mixed bag for India: the negatives, however, far outweighed the positives. Liberal and democratic aspects of British colonialism in India played a significant role in leading to a democratic South Asia following Indian independence in 1947. Yet, the British first through the East India Company and then through direct government control held almost all of the political and economic power in India during the Empire s expansion and apogee, guaranteeing the Indian economy could not evolve and/or function independent of the ruling power s control; ensuring raw materials extracted from Indian soil would go towards British manufacturing industries mostly without profiting the vast majority of Indians; and leading to lives of privation for millions of indigenous subjects. It Is The Greatest Mystery Of All How can a three pound mass of jelly that you can hold in your palm imagine angels, contemplate the meaning of infinity, and even question its own place in the cosmos? Especially awe inspiring is the fact that any single brain, including yours, is made up of atoms that were forged in the hearts of countless, far flung stars billions of years ago. These particles drifted for eons and light years until gravity and change brought them together here, now. These atoms now form a conglomerate your brain that can not only ponder the very stars that gave it birth but can also think about its own ability to think and wonder about its own ability to wonder. With the arrival of humans, it has been said, the universe has suddenly become conscious of itself. This, truly, it the greatest mystery of all. I specifically learned that consciousness could ultimately be defined as the state or quality of awareness. It is often described as an evolved property, one that as far as we are able to define, is unique to humans at the level of self consciousness. • 14. Common Elements Of Censorship In Fahrenheit 451 And 1984 The Element of Censorship Between Fahrenheit 451 1984 When reading 1984 by George Orwell and Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, you start to see a common element between these two novels, this element is censorship by the government. What is censorship? Censorship is the suppression of a publication of any media considered offensive or a threat to security. Both of these novels showed censorship elements in their passage by using technology and manipulation on their society to push their agenda. For instance, in 1984 their government was a totalitarian government that was run by the Inner party, which regulated the people of Oceania through language and monitoring their thoughts. In Fahrenheit 451 it has the same element of censorship by the government. The government censors the people of Fahrenheit 451 by using the firemen as an enforcement censorship by burning down homes that contain books. The common element of censorship between these two novels showed the controlling grip the government had on their societies by asserting their power of fear through censorship Whenever a person uses censorship they are trying to get control of something. In the novel 1984, the inner party has censorship over the people of Oceania by censoring the history, language, and thoughts. However his safety was a major concern due to the irrational behaviour of the ancient Greeks and his close friends and family members. Thus he expressed his notions by giving speaking power to his characters. Medea has been given the same property. In Medea, Euripides discusses exclusively about the gender segregation and inequality. He criticises men for considering themselves a dominant figure of the society. Thus she didn t hesitate to continue with her cruel plan and murdered the princess in attempt to revenge Jason. This symbolises the true ambition and desire of Medea and her determination and so Euripides also conveys his ideology about women. Medea, a distinct character conveys strong message across the audience and allows them to reconsider the legal rights of women. Not in the modern era but in the ancient times, recognition of women was a major dilemma for the society. Other than that Euripides tries to justify Medea s evilness by providing reasons and by letting Medea express her love for Jason. She chooses vengeance over law, this doesn t only show the dignity of Medea, it also presents the deep emotions of hers which conquered her mind and forced her to commit an unforgivable crime. • 20. Comparing Plato s The Republic What mix of traits creates the perfect ruler? Some may say charisma, personability, or even good looks. Throughout history, a plethora of leaders with different views have been successful for many different kinds of societies. Depending on what the society needs, rulers change their ways as well as do what they can for the good of their people. In Plato s The Republic, the character Socrates argues with his peers about what makes the perfect society, as well as the perfect leader. According to Plato, the wisest choice for a ruler in a near perfect society is a philosopher, containing multiple important attributes. A wide variety of characteristics are covered, yet Plato seems to focus in on several key foundations. Plato s views on essential traits of a philosopher focus on the necessity of truth and thirst for knowledge. Perhaps the most important trait of a philosopher is the ability to learn. This trait is important because if it pains a philosopher to learn, they can t be expected to enjoy it or have much success (486 c). The idea of constantly wanting more knowledge is abundant. Plato often states that a yearning for knowledge will come at a young age, and that it won t be easy (485 d). Searching for knowledge is a lifelong commitment that takes dedication and persistence. He also gives a counter example while talking about the timarchic character as well as the oligarchic society. Due to an imperfect education, the timarchic leader will have inner conflict when it ... • 21. Types Of Relationships Between Parents And Adolescents Types of relationships. There are different types of relationships between adults and adolescents and they all have different dynamics. Miller Day discussed four different types of relationships between parents and adolescents. Although they were discussed as parent adolescent relationships, these types of relationships can also exist between school counselors and adolescent students. Miller Day described laissez faire, consensual, pluralistic, and protective relationships. These types of relationships all differ in their combination of conversation orientation and conformity orientation. Laissez faire relationships have low conversation and low conformity, consensual relationships have high conversation and high conformity, pluralistic relationships have high conversation and low conformity, and protective conversations have low conversation and high conformity (2008). Awareness of the different types of relationships is important because it determines how an adolescent receives a message from an adult. Conversation orientation refers to the amount of discussion on a subject and the amount of individual input. Conformity orientation refers to the amount of conformity required in a relationship and often results in a because I said so type of attitude. The way a decision is come to the message of an expectation is relayed will affect the feelings that come from it. View of relationship. This story has some parallel tales told in the Old Testament such as Genesis, Exodus and the Psalms. In Enuma Elish presented to the father and mother as Apsu and Tiamat represented as saltwater and freshwater and were present before the creation of the universe. The epic begins this way: When on high ... No heaven HAD Been named, called earth No, not Annunaki ... There was nothing ... nothing but Old Father Apsu and Mummu Tiamat, Mother of All Living . This describes a series of Gods that were created and later gained wisdom leading to a similarity to Genesis presenting the tree of knowledge in the Garden of Eden and so says: Increasing in wisdom, in understanding and in ...strength. Apsu planned to destroy the gods to form a universe of order in a chaotic world. Ea is another god who kills Apsu to prevent what he had planned. Genesis also describes a world full of chaos and God decided to give skills to everyone in order to bring a new order. In Enuma Elish, Ea joins Damkina and has a divine and perfect son whom they call Marduk. In the tablet fragments, phrases were recited found in the Bible, such as Divine the womb That bore him (Luke 11:27), My beloved is! My son, who is my Sun, Sun for all the Heavens (Matt 3:17). At this point Thomas more is in Denmark (?) making negotiations when he meets Raphael who introduces him to the thought and place of Utopia. More heard that it is a wonderful place ruled entirely by logic, but in the end he tells Peter Giles that he does not know how well that would actually work. In Utopia, everything is perfect because the Utopians use logic or emotion. Utopia is run by logic. The Utopians get a lot done in a small amount of time because everything is done through logic, there are no feelings involved whatsoever. England is the exact opposite of Utopia. In England, there are a lot of social issues because everything is run by feeling. While the English do use logic in some of their choices, a lot of their choices are often made by what feels right at the time. Utopia, as More describes it, would not be possible in his time because of Utopia lives by logic especially in the religious, judicial, and political systems while England runs by first feeling, then tradition, then law, and then logic. In Utopia, the religious system is very open to everybody. Because Utopia is run by logic and everybody just kind of minds their own business, people can believe what they want to believe. In the Southern Hemisphere a hurricane circulates clockwise, and in the Northern Hemisphere it circulates counterclockwise. Hurricanes usually occur during the summer and fall seasons because that is when the water temperature is at its warmest. There are various stages that a hurricane goes through to become one and there are also various ways to track down a hurricane too. The first stage of a hurricane is called a tropical disturbance. The wind speed is less than twenty five miles per hour, with a slight open circulation going on. Hurricanes are the Earth s strongest tropical cyclones, which can cause a significant amount of damage. It is rated according to their wind speed on the Saffir Simpson scale. The ranges of the scale go from one to five, with one being the weakest and five being the strongest. When the hurricane reaches to cooler land or water, it rapidly loses its intensity. There are many different ways to track down a hurricane and one of the ways is by a satellite. In 1960, the United States sent the first satellite to monitor the weather conditions. Technology made launching and developing the satellite easier to track down hurricanes. Before it was hard for meteorologist to track down hurricanes when they didn t have the technology to do so. Satellites are constantly taking photos. These photos can help meteorologist gather information by putting the several hours of the pictures together and predict where the hurricane is heading. The Doppler radar is another way that meteorologist can track down a hurricane. The Doppler radar can detect rain that is associated with the tropical cyclones. It is 200 to 250 mile distance radar coverage. The radar estimates the amount of rain that has fallen, and it estimates the movement, and wind speed during a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

That brings us to choose certain paths, even if the underlying truth of these paths hasn t been recognized. The things that makes us ticks can be thought of mistakes. A professor of psychology and behavioral economics, Dan Ariely, studied this issue up close. Through his book, Predictably Irrational, these mistakes are both explained and contextualized as human error. Something that all of us do on a daily basis without any recognition. And even when we recognize our misconceptions, we still have a tendency to do it again. While reading Predictably Irrational, I came across several personal . Things like, procrastination and overvaluing materialistic things are two of many misconceptions I have been aberrant to. We, humans, have a tendency to be aberrant, walking out of reasonable paths and into irrational ones. Ariely thoroughly explains how emotions dictate behaviors and decisions we make. Us procrastinators, acknowledge that we do infact procrastinate. The real problem is how we act, knowing we have tendencies to procrastinate. Emotions rush through our veins and speaks louder then our consciousness. As Ariely explained, we are in the cool state when we are making promises such as, spending less or exercising more with a diet. But as soon as we spot materialistic things, our emotions come rush in bringing us to the hot state. When we ignore our long term goals for the immediate fulfilment, we are in fact ... Effectively, they were having white southerners pay for the education of people they once owned as property, and had the right to receive what most whites in the region hadn t had available previously. According to Anderson (n.d.), the Reconstruction Era (1877) presented a unique problem for black professionals. Although more blacks were becoming qualified for educational and employment opportunities, the job demand shifted to industrial needs. The primary advocate for industrial training was Booker T. Washington. Washington, educated at the Tuskegee Institute located in Alabama, expressed publicly that manual labor will be more beneficial to individuals because that was the type of work available (Anderson, n.d.). On the opposite side of Washington s argument for occupational training was W. E. B. Du Bois. Du Bois, who came from Harvard, had higher aspirations than occupational education, with a conviction that Black life and culture should be a primary topic of Black thought and investigation (Anderson, n.d. p.1).
