Buber And Arendt Approaches To Zionism
In my paper, I will be compared Buber and Arendt s approaches to Zionism. Although they both have
the same humanist perspective on Zionism, their approaches in their discussion of Zionism is
exceedingly different. Therefore, although both Buber and Arendt recognize the importance of
incorporating the Palestinians in the process of the creation of a Jewish state, Buber has a more
optimistic view than Arendt. However, both Buber and Arendt are critical of nationalism and
imperialist power s influence in the creation of the Jewish homeland. Accordingly, this paper will
assess both Buber and Arendt s views of Zionism and focus on their views of nationalism and the
influence of outside powers.
One thing that I believe is important is each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both Buber and Arendt recognize that nationalism played a vital role in the creation of the conflict.
Buber recognized the rise of nationalism in Zionism and referred to as unambiguous demarcation of a
kind, a degenerated kind of nationalism which of late has begun to spread even in Judaism. (Buber 48)
Arendt and Buber were both concerned that Zionist movement would become exclusive and
unappealing. Buber stressed the importance of including the Arabs in the dialogue and not making
Zionism a repressive nationalistic ideology. Like Buber, Arendt was critical of the rise of nationalism
which undermined the original goals of Zionism. Buber was concerned that the nationalist
development would become a permanent fixture and would led to a downfall dyed in the colors of
nationalism. (Buber 52) Therefore, both authors were disappointed with the direction that Zionism
was going. Buber and Arendt s humanist Zionist view led them to hope for peace and cooperation and
dialogue between the Jews and Arabs.
Arendt recognized the dangers of nationalism that necessarily and admittedly depends upon the force
of foreign nation is certainly worse. (Arendt 344) A major issue is that asking outside powers such as
the British to create a Jewish homeland led to Balkanization in the region. Therefore, Arendt stresses
the importance of having an understanding that takes into account the whole region and it s needs of
all the peoples. (Arendt 345) Moreover, Arendt

How Early Mosques Affected Islamic Culture
Early mosques were very simple and plain. However, as the mosque developed and became more
complex, it began to impact Islamic culture. One factor it affected was architecture and design. In
early Islamic times, mosques were usually made out of older structures or built with local materials in
the style of the local buildings. There was no standardization of the structure of mosques until later on,
when all mosques began to take on a general outline. Mosques began to be built on a grander and large
scale. The mosque also began to influence the way that other buildings were built. One of the earliest
important mosques is the Great Mosque of Damascus, which was one of the first mosques to be built
in Syria. The artwork and design of this mosque

Analysis Of The Movie The Rye
Catcher in the Rye was a phenomenal work of literature. The novel has been able to withstand the test
of time without ever making it to the big screen. Present day with a movie of the bestselling novel is
coming soon, every detail must amaze the avid reader of the book. This includes, lighting, a flawless
director, a cluster of A list actors, outstanding scenery, and last but certainly not least, a soundtrack
that will knock the viewer of the movie into a sense of amazement. A soundtrack can completely
devastate a movie. If there is a scene where a character in the scene is crying because they lost their
friend, it would definitely be strange if music in the background was Can t Touch This by M.C.
Hammer. Soundtracks tell the audience what to feel whether it would be fear or excitement. With a
soundtrack playing a critical position in a movie, the songs that have been chosen have transcended
more than just the scenes they are played in, and turned into the embodiment of some of the major
themes in the movie. A great selection for the opening song would be a song by Chance the Rapper
called Finish Line . In this song, Chance the Rapper appears to just spout sentences that just come to
head like the stream of consciousness like Holden. When Holden goes on his particular tangents he
usually is trying to get to a specific point, a finish line. Coincidentally, Holden during the entire book
has been trying to come to some finish line . With this song as the opening, it

Henry James’ Portrait of a Lady Essay
Henry James Portrait of a Lady
On her long journey from Rome her mind had been given up to vagueness; she was unable to question
the future. She performed this journey with sightless eyes and took little pleasure in the countries she
traversed, decked out though they were in the richest freshness of spring. Her thoughts followed their
course through other countries‹strange looking, dimly lighted, pathless lands, in which there was no
change of seasons, but only as it seemed, a perpetual dreariness of winter. She had plenty to think
about; but it was neither reflexion nor conscious purpose that filled her mind. Disconnected visions
passed through it, and sudden dull gleams of memory, of expectation. The past and the future came

The most fertile ground for her imagination is her own life: She was always planning out her
development, desiring her perfection, observing her progress. (It is interesting to note, here and
elsewhere in the novel, the way James often has Isabel treat herself in her own mind as an external,
abstract, almost objectified subject: James might well have written Œher own development¹ or Œher
own perfection¹, but chose not to, leaving us with the subtle impression that she is somehow
disconnected from herself in her own mind.) Given these first descriptions of Isabel, it is hard not to
register the simple power of the statement that, she was unable to question the future ‹she, and by
natural extension the reader, has been deprived of one of her liveliest faculties, and James has ensured
that we feel the immensity of this momentary loss.
Another thing to note in this passage is James¹ metaphorical use of landscape. In the opening chapters
of the novel, we are told of Isabel: Her nature had, in her conceit, a certain garden like quality, a
suggestion of perfume and murmuring boughs, of shady bowers and lengthening vistas, which made
her feel that introspection was, after all, an exercise in the open air, and that a visit to the recesses of
one¹s spirit was harmless when one returned from it with a lapful of roses. (107) Now that her
narrative is no longer an abstract question before her, her

Myth Of Io Research Paper
The myth of Io depicts the story of a beautiful nymph who Zeus falls in love with. He seduces her and
surrounds them in a cloud, so Hera, his wife, won t see them. She gets suspicious and Zeus ends up
turning Io into a cow, disguising his love for her. Hera asks for the cow as a gift, and guards it fiercely.
Eventually, Io is freed, but Hera sends a vicious gadfly to sting her. Io wanders for years and makes
her way to Egypt, where she is turned back to a women. She becomes the Egyptian God Isis, and
gives birth to the future rulers of Egypt. Greek mythology is intertwined with Egyptian mythology
because of this, as are many geographical features that are named after her passing.

The Voyage Of Life Thomas Cole Analysis
The Voyage of Life is a series of paintings which were painted by Thomas Cole. It visually represents
how Cole depicts the journey of life, portrayed by many metaphors in the painting. The persona can be
seen travelling down the River of Life , which has been cleverly manipulated to represent Cole s
perspective on the journey. Each painting represents a different stage of life: Childhood, Youth,
Manhood and Old Age.
Childhood (top left) portrays the coming into the world as a newborn. The use of vibrant colours by
Cole such as green and yellow is used to show the happiness which individuals experience during
their younger years. The guardian angel represents the contextual values of the 19th century; it
portrays the importance of religion and how they believed it to be the core focus during their life. The
angel watches over the young boy, and guides it down the start of the River of Life . This emphasises
the nature of religion during the journey and how society held a strong faith. ... Show more content on

The use of vibrant colours once again shows how an individual has little worries in life and is
enjoying it. The young boy can be seen controlling the boat, as the guardian angel watches from
behind. This symbolises how an individual begins to take control of the journey as they begin to
become exposed to the world. In the background, there is a misty castle, which is a metaphor for an
individual s dreams and goals during their lifetime. The river is becoming longer and wider, a
metaphor for an individual s new knowledge learnt through education, emphasising the importance of
education in the mid

Rosa Parks Impact On Civil Rights
Rosa Parks was a strong, powerful woman who was one of the well known Civil Rights figures during
the Civil Rights Movement. She sparked the movement by refusing to leave the seat on a bus in
Montgomery, Alabama, which caused her to get arrested. Due to this action, it has encouraged African
Americans to protest discrimination in public facilities and demand equal rights. Although most
historians discussed Parks impact on social justice, they did not discuss Parks involvement of fighting
against sexual violence. African American women were raped by white men in southern states since
the beginnings of slavery. White men were able to get away with the crime because black women were
unable to seek justice against rapists because of discrimination. Parks did not let them get away with
the crime, so she helped black women seek justice against them. Parks action has helped encourage
women to step out of their shadows and address the issues of rape culture in the southern states. Parks
achievement of fighting sexual violence in the black community was uncommon in American history,
but it is important for people to be informed about the cruelty of rape culture.
To start with Parks involvement against rape, Parks had experienced discrimination and violence at an
early age. Most African American children were aware of racism throughout the southern states. In
most cases, young black women were prepared for the hostility of racism because African American
women were more

Sameness In The Giver
In, The Giver, by Lois Lowry, The Giver does something that contrasts to what he would normally do
by giving Jonas a bad memory. This helps develop the plot and a theme in the book. Normally, The
Giver gives Jonas memories of nice things, but now, he has begun to give him memories of conflict
and death. This shows that life was not actually perfect, contrary to what Jonas had believed when he
was getting memories of sun and snow. Getting only good memories made him confused as to why
Sameness was necessary or believed to be. In the book it states, It was a sound of rage and grief and it
seemed to never end, (100). As can be seen, Jonas experiences pain and disbelief from what he had
saw. An elephant had been hunted and shot. This is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At this point, The Giver is trying to explain to Jonas why people thought we needed sameness. It looks
like The Giver is trying to get Jonas to understand another perspective on why sameness was need and
choices were taken away, though he himself may not actually believe that it was the right decision. To
add to the theme stated above, getting rid of choices, although eliminating possibly wrong choices,
should not be forgotten and locked away, but instead used to ensure the mistake is nti made twice.
This conclusion was made because Jonas makes a realization that he wants the new child that lives
with him to be able to pick what he wants. Jonas still has not received everything and The Giver is
trying to let him think of thing in all perspectives and see everything, so he can come to a conclusion
on what Jonas feels was wrong. When the Giver suggest the reason that choices were taken away was
fear that people would choose wrong, Jonas semmes to understand, but it seems that he wants people
to know of the past, like when he tells his sister of elephants. This seems to be more evidence that
Jonas believes memories should not have been taken away and people should have choices of how to
fix their

U.s. And Global Economy
In 2008 the U.S. and global economy confronted one of the worst crisis in the history. These financial
crisis were considered the worst since the great depression in 1930 s. Several events took a place early
in 2007 which led to the economy crash, such as, the massive decrease in home prices in the United
States after it was significantly high. This decline in home mortgage market expanded rapidly causing
massive crisis in the whole United States financial sector (Bullard, Neely, and Wheelock 2 4). Those
crisis had dangerous effects on the stock banking industry, insurance firms, and Fannie Mae and
Freddie Mac, the two most important enterprises commissioned by the government to assist mortgage
lending, and some other mortgage lenders and financial service organizations. Those crisis generated a
decline in banks and financial associations trust of others, believing that they will never get paid back.
They simply stopped offering loans to people who needed money to buy a house or start a business,
which created a massive decline in the home mortgage market and the whole financial sector of the
United States (Havemann 1) There are number of issues which are believed to be the reason behind
the home mortgage market crisis that occurred in 2008. Firstly the housing bubble , the home
mortgage market problem which our economy is suffering from right now. It started with the bursting
of the U.S. housing bubble which started in 2001 and reached its highest in 2005. The

My Nursing Experience
At a young age, the need to excel in school was instilled within me, as I watched my mother struggle
in her attempt to earn a college degree, after putting her education on hold for many years to raise a
family. A stay at home mom became a full time student, tasks being juggled every which way and
chaos a common demeanor. My household was centered around my mother s pursuit for an education.
Being as young as I was (eight to be exact), I never understood what the big deal was or why my
mother struggled so much to become a nurse. I mean, How hard could this nursing thing really be?
Give the patient the medicine or maybe a bandaid and he s all good to go ... right?
I never struggled in school, it always came easy to me and at times too easy. Outside of school,
reading and writing was never worthy of my time as it cut into the more important play time. Reading
and writing was an effortless task and therefore my interest was little to none when it came to
partaking in the activities outside of the classroom because of my household centered around
schooling. I figured my mother could do enough studying for the both of us. I would go to school and
work on school work. I d come home to my mother and her focused on her school work. I d come
home and do my own school work. I became tired of this overwhelming impact that school work had
on my life. Why would I waste my time on something I already know how to do? Why would I read a
book that will teach me a lesson I already know?

United States Involvement in the war on terrorism
The world in the modern history is faced with many crises which have been growing since the Second
World War. This has been as a result of the United States and the British military embarking on wars
against terrorism which threatens the future life of people. A series of events have been witnessed
concerning the war on crimes committed after the cold war era. For instance the continuum in the US
concerning the Truman doctrine and then the war on terrorism initiated by the former United States
president George Bush. Of great concern is how can the government control terrorism and yet on the
other hand it seems they are collaborating with other nations in production of the equipments of mass
destruction. The government officials have been involved in inspection of missiles from Iraq and the
allegation that the Clinton government helped Bosnia with military actions by recruiting people who
ended up forming the Military Islamic Network consisting mostly of Muslims (Chossudovsky).
The government developed the nuclear weapons for responding to the nuclear attacks but instead,
these weapons are used to fight those other nations with no nuclear weapons in order to stop the
conflicts on the U.S. and ensure their success. In addition the CIA creates terrorist organizations and

Native Americans During The 19th Century
For hundreds of years Native Americans inhabited North America. When Europeans came to the New
World they did not understand these indigenous people. For a long time these natives were seen as
savages who had backwards traditions. After the American Revolution, Americans were pushing to try
to expand their territory. They wanted to expand westward towards the Pacific Ocean, to get closer to
China. Native Americans we victims of changing times in America. With Europeans and then
Americans aggressively pushing west the Natives could not keep up with technologies of the whites,
they were also a victim to the white mans epidemics, horse and the environment. All of these factors
caused the natives to be victims of westward expansion in America. Native Americans play a large
role in Western history of the United States but the power struggle that they faced with white people
forever changed their destiny. One agent of change that led the natives to be victims was disease. In
the early 16th century, the natives did not have any of the immunities that the Europeans developed
over the course of the last 5000 10,000 years. Disease hit the natives like a brick wall. Smallpox was
the most contagious disease of all that hit tribes like the ones in the plains and Missouri Valley. This
disease spread through the region from the northern plains to the Red River in the 1770s. Others that
tore through the native populations were Measles, cholera, malaria, and venereal diseases. These

However, there are several main attributes that have been embedded into the modern Australian
identity, mate ship, courage, resilience and acceptance. The theme in this anthology is war, this has
been selected as Australia has been through several wars and, it is in these times where the true
Australian identity stands out. It was during several wars where Australia s national identity was

This poem is based on families throughout the war, making sense of their loved one s death. While
they are overcome with grief and sorrow, they have an overwhelming sense of appreciation for what
their loved one had achieved in fighting for the country. Chaplain Jim Cosgrove has portrayed
Australians as being very sacrificial, resilient, courageous, this can be seen through several examples
in the poem. In addition to that, throughout the poem it can be seen that the poet believes mate ship is
a fundamental aspect of the Australian identity. Their courage and belief are even stronger than their
grief that their sacrifice is for a worthy cause. This example, in lines 13 and 14, shows the poets views
of Australians, that they are brave, courageous and sacrificial. This is reflected in the Australian
identity and supports Australia s dominant cultural values. Another examples of this is in lines 23 24,
In the history of their nation there are many generations whose sacrifice has made our country free. An
example of the poet displaying mate ship as being a significant aspect of the Australian identity is in
lines 17 18, They want to tell their mates to never doubt or hesitate, to fight this fight against the reign
of terror. The poet has used imagery throughout the poem, to help the reader construct an image.
Furthermore, Chaplain Jim Cosgrove has set a somber and melancholy mood and tone through the
choice of words that highlight the sacrifices made by soldiers in the war. Thus, giving the poem more

International Business Barriers
Business is an important aspect of American lives. We always work for a business or we could be the
one running the business. Businesses is one of the reasons a country is wealthy or not. They meet the
basic needs and the luxuries of everyday life. Though there are a lot of sole proprietor businesses in
America, we also have a fairly large sum of international business. International businesses have
barriers and trade agreements in order to make them more successful. In order to have a good
international business, you need some basic strategies. One of them is to Build a broader customer
base ( International Business Strategies ). If you accomplish this, then you will have more people
paying for your product. That s a higher demand for whatever you are selling, which causes you to
have more profits and the ability to expand your business. If you expand, you will need to hire more
workers and that helps out the entire economy. Another strategy is Lower production costs by using
lower priced labor abroad ( International Business Strategies ). This helps lower your overall costs and
helps you lower the market price for your item so more people can buy it. That would increase
demand and profits, having the same effect as the previous strategy. If you don t want to lower the
market price, it s simply a bigger profit for you for every item you sell. If you were to lower the
prices, it would give you an edge against the other international businesses in the particular field.

Why Positive Intelligence Can Help An Hr Professional...
Introduction The power of positive thinking has been lauded for its ability to bring light and good
feelings to bad situations since the beginning of man. Everyone who was able to harness the power of
positive thought was able to bring new and innovative inventions to mankind because they didn t
allow failures and negative experiences shape the way they viewed the toils of their work. In other
words, people were able to see the glass as half full rather than half empty which brought about
positive outcomes because they were able to see through all the negative aspects of their work or life.

Importance of Possessing a Positive Intelligence As we ve seen from the definition of positive
intelligence, it seems as though the importance of mastering the concepts are self evident. We all want
to perform at our best in whatever task we take on providing the greatest possible product or resource
for our employer. We ve all worked with someone who has constantly portrayed a negative attitude
and it never contributed to a highly effective workplace. John Maxwell is a motivational speaker and
leadership expert has made a living off of getting people to think more positively through their daily
tasks to produce high level results. In his Daily Reader book he provides an example of what positive
thought and positive expectations can provide a person. He says that if a person gives themselves just
30 days of expecting the best of everything they will often receive the positive outcomes they
perceive. He says a person will get out of their life everything they expect from it, god or bad
(Maxwell, 2007). The power of positive intelligence can be profound on a personal and professional
level and its importance should not be discredited.

The Drummer Boy Of Shiloh Essay
Shiloh is a wonderfully dramatic battle. The leader of one side is killed, and the other one is going on
to glory, and it was the first great battle. It lasted two days (Shelby Foote). From this quote, you see it
talks about the two sides and one team loses and the other one wins. The title of the book is The
drummer boy of Shiloh which is written by Ray Bradbury. The story takes place in the peach orchard
in the middle of the night. With the story being a historical fiction it mentions peach blossoms. The
peach blossoms symbolizes the divine fruit of the gods with the power to keep you perpetually young.
The blossoms also symbolizes good luck and a state of intense love. Moreover, the characters of this
book are Joby and the General. Joby is the drummer boy for the army. He has just turned 14, and has
been in the army for 3 weeks. The character compares his self by not differing his self. Even though
he and only his drums he still was courageous. He still went to war and tried to protect himself even

Credits For Exercising
My solution of earning credits for exercising will solve the problem of obesity because it addresses
some of the primary sources, including lack of time, stress, and inexperience. Lakeland College is able
to easily transfer a similar physical education course that is required by other universities into the
curriculum. This class will be flexible to meet students schedules, the credits will motivate students to
manage time for exercising, and exercising will help reduce their stress levels. According to the
Anxiety and Depression Association of America, exercising is vital for maintaining mental fitness, and
it can reduce stress. Studies show that it is very effective at reducing fatigue, improving alertness and

This amounts to 165 minutes a week for a three credit class that meets three times a week for 55
minutes. This is not that far off from the weekly amount of needed fitness hours per week. According
to Women s Health magazine the correct amount of exercise for any gender adult is 150 minutes a
week (Narins). This means the physical education course could easily be translated to reach the
requirements of contact hours of a typical three credit course. However, where this physical education
course would fall short compared to other classes would be the classwork that is required in other
ordinary three credit bearing courses, like exams, compositions, and other assignments. For this
reason, the physical education class will be structured like many of the music classes at Lakeland
College that are worth one credit. Having the course bear one credit is reasonable since the 150 minute
required fitness time is done at the student s leisure, meaning there is not enough contact hours with a
professor to fulfill the three credit class requirements. Since, students in the class can only earn one
credit per semester for this course, students can keep enrolling in it each semester. This means, that in
order to fulfill Natural Science general studies requirement, a student would need to take the class at
least three over a span of three semesters. However, a student can enroll in

How To Raise The Space Shuttle
For years, scientists had been trying to create a reusable spacecraft that could carry supplies to the
space station and do other tasks that would be easier with a reusable spacecraft. The Space Shuttle
lifted off into space for the first time on April 12, 1981, and for the last time on July 8, 2011. It would
glide to a landing on a runway facing horizontally and be launched with a rocket attached to get it up
into space.
Five Space Shuttles were built. They were called Challenger, Discovery, Atlantis, Columbia, and
Endeavour. These shuttles were used to fly cargo and people to the ISS or International Space Station.
It was also used to launch the Hubble Space Telescope, which was well known for discovering many
things.

All seven crew members died. The accident investigation board figured out that, during the launch of
the shuttle, a piece of insulating foam had torn from the external tank and struck the orbiter s left
wing, weakening its thermal protection ability. When the orbiter later reentered the atmosphere, it was
unable to withstand the superheated air, which penetrated the wing and destroyed it, leading to the
vehicle s breakup. These two horrible accidents were part of the reason that NASA canceled the Space
Shuttle program.
On July 8, 2011, Space Shuttle Atlantis flew its last mission. The program was put to a stop because of
safety reasons and new technology that could be used instead of the old stuff. NASA still launches
some things but other companies such as SpaceX have been used instead to launch satellites.
The Space Shuttle has been used for many missions ranging from restocking the ISS to launching the
Hubble Space Telescope. It takes off using solid rocket boosters and lands on a runway. After being

Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit
Jeanette Winterson s novel Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit when published in 1985 as her first novel,
it was unanimously regarded as a realistic and heavily autobiographical comedy of coming out
(Onega) in which the narrative structure employs elements derived from the Bildungsroman tradition
expression of the heroine s quest for individuation, as much as a feminist gesture of self assertion,
deployed in a hostile Pentecostal Evangelist environment. The story of young Jeanette, the character,
clearly echoes the author s own story: the protagonist falls in love with another girl, and has to fight
her emotional way through the coercive norms of her religious community in the North of England.
The novel was read in the light of the emerging

Pool Fencing Essay
Due to the number of drowning rates each year occurring, effective and safe fencing measures
desperately need to be installed into every private pool in the backyard. Pool fencing is enforced by
Australian legislation, to prevent the occurrence of premature deaths, as drowning s and their
consequences are preventable! (AIHW, 2014).
However, by teaching children in a primary school based learning environment, the basic foundations

Hell In The Gospel Of John, And St. Thomas Aquinas
Hell is recognized as an extremely difficult doctrine for many to accept, due to its nature of opposing
the very notion of a benevolent God. Although God grants the gift of mercy and infinite love to all, a
soul can be damned to Hell due to the gift of free will and the rejection of God s love. In the teachings
and works of the Bible, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and St. Thomas Aquinas, the
interpretation of Heaven and its counterpart Hell are found in their attempt to explain the contradictory
essence of God s altruistic love and the potential of eternal punishment. It has been clearly denoted
that the Gift of God s free will is the primary reason for one condemning themselves to Hell or
entering the Kingdom of God in Heaven. God s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In chapters five and seven of the Book of Matthew, it reveals that some may not be granted entrance to
the Kingdom of Heaven after facing judgment. An analogy is made that the good tree of heaven
cannot possibly bear bad fruit just like a bad tree cannot bear that of good fruit. Every tree that does
not bear good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire. So by their fruits you will know them
(Matthew 7: 19 20) indicating the tradition view of Hell being a dark, fiery, pit of depraved spirits. In
the Gospel of Mark, Hell is referred to as Gehenna which is a term associated in Hebrew scripture that
dictates it a place of the wicked. Hell is a place where God s judgment has inscribed the sin filled life
upon one s spirit. In the Gospel of Luke, Hell is referred to as a place where sinners are perished . In
the parable of the rich man and lazarus, the rich man whom deemed to hell requests to warn his
brothers of the afterlife, Then Abraham said, If they will not listen to Moses and the prophets, neither
will they be persuaded if someone should rise from the dead (Luke 16: 31). This draws a similar
comparison to the rejection of Jesus s resurrection in the greatest sacrifice to repent for all humankind
s sins. God grants the gift of mercy and infinite love to all, but a soul can be condemned to Hell due to
their free will and the

Neo-Keynesian Economics Summary
John Maynard Keynes (1883 1946) is a British economist who is the founder of Keynesian economics
and the father of modern macroeconomics. He published his foundational book: The General Theory
of Employment, Interest and Money, in 1936 less than a decade after the great depression of 1929. His
theories were largely in contrast with classical economics. Between the 1970s and the 1990s, more
economists reviewed the Keynesian economics and proposed some changes, they are known as the
New Keynesian economics or Neo Keynesian. James Tobin, Gregory Mankiw, and David Romer
developed the foundations of Neo Keynesian (Greenlaw, n.d). In the following essay I shed the light

Social Policy Report on Child Poverty in Wales and the Uk
Social Policy Report on Child Poverty in Wales and the UK
Introduction
In the UK, particularly in England and Wales, children s life chances are determined by the economic
status of the families into which they are a part of. Children from poor households are more likely to
suffer the consequences of their families condition. They will have to endure the stigma of poverty in
a profoundly lopsided society where the socioeconomic standing of individuals is determined by their
capacity to buy. These poor children also have less access to quality educational opportunities
(Welbourne, 2012). Furthermore, children living in poverty at present are likely to remain poor for the
rest of their lives because of intergenerational cycles of poverty ... Show more content on

This resulted in the Adoption and Children Act 2002 (Butler Hickman, 2011, p. 133), which was
designed to encourage adoption for poor children.
The Organisation and Delivery of Child Welfare Services
Child welfare services in the UK are funded by the child benefit programme. Child benefit has been
integral to the income of families throughout the UK for more than three decades now and it still
prioritises poor children in the benefits and tax system. A universal child benefit programme assists in
the redistribution of resources from taxation (Lewis, 2008, p. 126). Child benefit supplanted a tax
allowance programme for parents, but was changed into a payment scheme due to the fact that tax
allowances mostly give advantage to primary earners (Farthing, 2012, p. 4 5). Child benefit is given to
the primary caregiver, generally mothers.
Almost all European countries provide a universal child tax allowance or child benefit. But the UK is
starting to move away from this tradition. Child benefit is a way of guaranteeing that the entire society
is involved in the promotion of children s wellbeing, especially those living in poverty. But the UK
government has recently reformed the child benefit scheme, away from the universal benefit model.
Instead of simply giving fewer allowances to parents the government will keep on paying the total
cost and claw back through taxation (Farthing, 2012, p. 5). The suggested claw back benefits that are
allocated and afterwards revoked

Cosmo Kramer Personality
Introduction
Personality refers to individual differences in characteristic patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving
(American Psychological Association, 2017) and is both socially and culturally constructed. The
psychology of personality deals with how and why people differ. There is no unifying theory to
describe personality, although many descriptions and structures have been proposed. Theories of
personality specify the central elements of personality and these are the characteristics by which
people differ. Such theories include the psychodynamic, humanistic and trait perspectives.

Analysis Of The Plastic Pink Flamingo
In sprawling suburbs across America, lies the remnants of a different era. In those few houses left
relatively untouched and never remodeled, one can see the markings of the 1950s, an era of kitchens
and bathrooms decorated in a monochrome of Hot Pink, just like the plastic pink lawn flamingos. In
her essay, Jenniffer Price discusses the history of the flamingos in the United States and uses them as a
symbol of America s culture. Through her use of diction and imagery in the essay The Plastic Pink
Flamingo: A Natural History , Jennifer Price characterizes American Culture as materialistic.
Jennifer Price uses diction to characterize American Culture as materialistic and thoughtless in her
first and second paragraphs. To add color to her first paragraph, Price uses a variety of words
including splashed , boldness , flocking , pizzaz and playful . This word choice characterizes the
flamingos, and through comparison, American society as valuing glamour and consequently, wealth.
In describing the new plastic flamingos Price even goes as far as to describe flamingos as synonymous
with wealth , and the middle class as eager to enjoy the flamingo culture, associated with wealth. She
aids her characterization by calling the flamingos souvenirs , pointless chotskies that a person brings
home to show off and display their wealth. She contrasts this with the irony that flamingos in America
had already gone extinct by the nineteenth century. While describing this extinction,

Defense Counsel And For The Prosecution
A topic of conversation that always comes up when I mention that I m doing a placement with a
criminal barrister, one who works as both defence counsel and for the prosecution, is the idea of
representing a client who is guilty . I m asked but what if you know that they did it? and wouldn t you
feel bad if they got off? The thing is, as defence counsel these are not your concern, for the most part.
I believe that it is counterproductive and unnecessary to determine the guilt of a client prior or during
your time representing them, for a number of reasons that I will outline. Firstly, the burden of proof
depends on the state. The prosecution, with the assistance of evidence gathered during police and /or

It was a drug trafficking case, and C has prior convictions for similar offences. Briefly, the drug
investigation branch found C at home with almost $10,000 in cash hidden in his underwear, and

However, when it got to trial, * J gave the prosecutor a particularly difficult time because, as it became
evident, the prosecutor had effectively no evidence: no samples had been taken from the sink that C
had allegedly used to flush drugs down. A trained police dog that had run to the bathroom, and knelt

assumed that the prosecution had had some solid evidence to go to trial with, and I believe that Nick
had similarly overlooked the lack of evidence. Nick s client was annoyed and said, You wanted me to
plead guilty! By a stroke of luck, Nick s client escaped unscathed. Nick jumped on Her Honour s
observations and a nolle prosequi resulted. This was a valuable lesson for me because I realized that
sometimes matters that appear obvious (for example: the absence of evidence) might go unnoticed,
even through a number of good hands at the DPP. It is for you, then, as a lawyer, to ensure that the
state, at all stages, is held to a high standard. The flipside of this is that it must be incredibly

  • 2. Buber And Arendt Approaches To Zionism In my paper, I will be compared Buber and Arendt s approaches to Zionism. Although they both have the same humanist perspective on Zionism, their approaches in their discussion of Zionism is exceedingly different. Therefore, although both Buber and Arendt recognize the importance of incorporating the Palestinians in the process of the creation of a Jewish state, Buber has a more optimistic view than Arendt. However, both Buber and Arendt are critical of nationalism and imperialist power s influence in the creation of the Jewish homeland. Accordingly, this paper will assess both Buber and Arendt s views of Zionism and focus on their views of nationalism and the influence of outside powers. One thing that I believe is important is each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both Buber and Arendt recognize that nationalism played a vital role in the creation of the conflict. Buber recognized the rise of nationalism in Zionism and referred to as unambiguous demarcation of a kind, a degenerated kind of nationalism which of late has begun to spread even in Judaism. (Buber 48) Arendt and Buber were both concerned that Zionist movement would become exclusive and unappealing. Buber stressed the importance of including the Arabs in the dialogue and not making Zionism a repressive nationalistic ideology. Like Buber, Arendt was critical of the rise of nationalism which undermined the original goals of Zionism. Buber was concerned that the nationalist development would become a permanent fixture and would led to a downfall dyed in the colors of nationalism. (Buber 52) Therefore, both authors were disappointed with the direction that Zionism was going. Buber and Arendt s humanist Zionist view led them to hope for peace and cooperation and dialogue between the Jews and Arabs. Arendt recognized the dangers of nationalism that necessarily and admittedly depends upon the force of foreign nation is certainly worse. (Arendt 344) A major issue is that asking outside powers such as the British to create a Jewish homeland led to Balkanization in the region. Therefore, Arendt stresses the importance of having an understanding that takes into account the whole region and it s needs of all the peoples. (Arendt 345) Moreover, Arendt ... • 3. How Early Mosques Affected Islamic Culture Early mosques were very simple and plain. However, as the mosque developed and became more complex, it began to impact Islamic culture. One factor it affected was architecture and design. In early Islamic times, mosques were usually made out of older structures or built with local materials in the style of the local buildings. There was no standardization of the structure of mosques until later on, when all mosques began to take on a general outline. Mosques began to be built on a grander and large scale. The mosque also began to influence the way that other buildings were built. One of the earliest important mosques is the Great Mosque of Damascus, which was one of the first mosques to be built in Syria. The artwork and design of this mosque ... • 4. Analysis Of The Movie The Rye Catcher in the Rye was a phenomenal work of literature. The novel has been able to withstand the test of time without ever making it to the big screen. Present day with a movie of the bestselling novel is coming soon, every detail must amaze the avid reader of the book. This includes, lighting, a flawless director, a cluster of A list actors, outstanding scenery, and last but certainly not least, a soundtrack that will knock the viewer of the movie into a sense of amazement. A soundtrack can completely devastate a movie. If there is a scene where a character in the scene is crying because they lost their friend, it would definitely be strange if music in the background was Can t Touch This by M.C. Hammer. Soundtracks tell the audience what to feel whether it would be fear or excitement. With a soundtrack playing a critical position in a movie, the songs that have been chosen have transcended more than just the scenes they are played in, and turned into the embodiment of some of the major themes in the movie. A great selection for the opening song would be a song by Chance the Rapper called Finish Line . In this song, Chance the Rapper appears to just spout sentences that just come to head like the stream of consciousness like Holden. When Holden goes on his particular tangents he usually is trying to get to a specific point, a finish line. Coincidentally, Holden during the entire book has been trying to come to some finish line . With this song as the opening, it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Henry James’ Portrait of a Lady Essay Henry James Portrait of a Lady On her long journey from Rome her mind had been given up to vagueness; she was unable to question the future. She performed this journey with sightless eyes and took little pleasure in the countries she traversed, decked out though they were in the richest freshness of spring. Her thoughts followed their course through other countries‹strange looking, dimly lighted, pathless lands, in which there was no change of seasons, but only as it seemed, a perpetual dreariness of winter. She had plenty to think about; but it was neither reflexion nor conscious purpose that filled her mind. Disconnected visions passed through it, and sudden dull gleams of memory, of expectation. The past and the future came and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The most fertile ground for her imagination is her own life: She was always planning out her development, desiring her perfection, observing her progress. (It is interesting to note, here and elsewhere in the novel, the way James often has Isabel treat herself in her own mind as an external, abstract, almost objectified subject: James might well have written Œher own development¹ or Œher own perfection¹, but chose not to, leaving us with the subtle impression that she is somehow disconnected from herself in her own mind.) Given these first descriptions of Isabel, it is hard not to register the simple power of the statement that, she was unable to question the future ‹she, and by natural extension the reader, has been deprived of one of her liveliest faculties, and James has ensured that we feel the immensity of this momentary loss. Another thing to note in this passage is James¹ metaphorical use of landscape. In the opening chapters of the novel, we are told of Isabel: Her nature had, in her conceit, a certain garden like quality, a suggestion of perfume and murmuring boughs, of shady bowers and lengthening vistas, which made her feel that introspection was, after all, an exercise in the open air, and that a visit to the recesses of one¹s spirit was harmless when one returned from it with a lapful of roses. She gets suspicious and Zeus ends up turning Io into a cow, disguising his love for her. Hera asks for the cow as a gift, and guards it fiercely. Eventually, Io is freed, but Hera sends a vicious gadfly to sting her. Io wanders for years and makes her way to Egypt, where she is turned back to a women. She becomes the Egyptian God Isis, and gives birth to the future rulers of Egypt. Greek mythology is intertwined with Egyptian mythology because of this, as are many geographical features that are named after her passing. • 7. The Voyage Of Life Thomas Cole Analysis The Voyage of Life is a series of paintings which were painted by Thomas Cole. It visually represents how Cole depicts the journey of life, portrayed by many metaphors in the painting. The persona can be seen travelling down the River of Life , which has been cleverly manipulated to represent Cole s perspective on the journey. Each painting represents a different stage of life: Childhood, Youth, Manhood and Old Age. Childhood (top left) portrays the coming into the world as a newborn. The use of vibrant colours by Cole such as green and yellow is used to show the happiness which individuals experience during their younger years. The guardian angel represents the contextual values of the 19th century; it portrays the importance of religion and how they believed it to be the core focus during their life. The angel watches over the young boy, and guides it down the start of the River of Life . This emphasises the nature of religion during the journey and how society held a strong faith. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The use of vibrant colours once again shows how an individual has little worries in life and is enjoying it. The young boy can be seen controlling the boat, as the guardian angel watches from behind. This symbolises how an individual begins to take control of the journey as they begin to become exposed to the world. In the background, there is a misty castle, which is a metaphor for an individual s dreams and goals during their lifetime. The river is becoming longer and wider, a metaphor for an individual s new knowledge learnt through education, emphasising the importance of education in the mid ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Rosa Parks Impact On Civil Rights Rosa Parks was a strong, powerful woman who was one of the well known Civil Rights figures during the Civil Rights Movement. She sparked the movement by refusing to leave the seat on a bus in Montgomery, Alabama, which caused her to get arrested. Due to this action, it has encouraged African Americans to protest discrimination in public facilities and demand equal rights. Although most historians discussed Parks impact on social justice, they did not discuss Parks involvement of fighting against sexual violence. African American women were raped by white men in southern states since the beginnings of slavery. White men were able to get away with the crime because black women were unable to seek justice against rapists because of discrimination. Parks did not let them get away with the crime, so she helped black women seek justice against them. Parks action has helped encourage women to step out of their shadows and address the issues of rape culture in the southern states. Parks achievement of fighting sexual violence in the black community was uncommon in American history, but it is important for people to be informed about the cruelty of rape culture. To start with Parks involvement against rape, Parks had experienced discrimination and violence at an early age. Most African American children were aware of racism throughout the southern states. In most cases, young black women were prepared for the hostility of racism because African American women were more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Sameness In The Giver In, The Giver, by Lois Lowry, The Giver does something that contrasts to what he would normally do by giving Jonas a bad memory. This helps develop the plot and a theme in the book. Normally, The Giver gives Jonas memories of nice things, but now, he has begun to give him memories of conflict and death. This shows that life was not actually perfect, contrary to what Jonas had believed when he was getting memories of sun and snow. Getting only good memories made him confused as to why Sameness was necessary or believed to be. In the book it states, It was a sound of rage and grief and it seemed to never end, (100). As can be seen, Jonas experiences pain and disbelief from what he had saw. An elephant had been hunted and shot. This is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At this point, The Giver is trying to explain to Jonas why people thought we needed sameness. It looks like The Giver is trying to get Jonas to understand another perspective on why sameness was need and choices were taken away, though he himself may not actually believe that it was the right decision. To add to the theme stated above, getting rid of choices, although eliminating possibly wrong choices, should not be forgotten and locked away, but instead used to ensure the mistake is nti made twice. This conclusion was made because Jonas makes a realization that he wants the new child that lives with him to be able to pick what he wants. Jonas still has not received everything and The Giver is trying to let him think of thing in all perspectives and see everything, so he can come to a conclusion on what Jonas feels was wrong. When the Giver suggest the reason that choices were taken away was fear that people would choose wrong, Jonas semmes to understand, but it seems that he wants people to know of the past, like when he tells his sister of elephants. This seems to be more evidence that Jonas believes memories should not have been taken away and people should have choices of how to fix their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These financial crisis were considered the worst since the great depression in 1930 s. Several events took a place early in 2007 which led to the economy crash, such as, the massive decrease in home prices in the United States after it was significantly high. This decline in home mortgage market expanded rapidly causing massive crisis in the whole United States financial sector (Bullard, Neely, and Wheelock 2 4). Those crisis had dangerous effects on the stock banking industry, insurance firms, and Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the two most important enterprises commissioned by the government to assist mortgage lending, and some other mortgage lenders and financial service organizations. Those crisis generated a decline in banks and financial associations trust of others, believing that they will never get paid back. They simply stopped offering loans to people who needed money to buy a house or start a business, which created a massive decline in the home mortgage market and the whole financial sector of the United States (Havemann 1) There are number of issues which are believed to be the reason behind the home mortgage market crisis that occurred in 2008. Firstly the housing bubble , the home mortgage market problem which our economy is suffering from right now. It started with the bursting of the U.S. housing bubble which started in 2001 and reached its highest in 2005. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Give the patient the medicine or maybe a bandaid and he s all good to go ... right? I never struggled in school, it always came easy to me and at times too easy. Outside of school, reading and writing was never worthy of my time as it cut into the more important play time. Reading and writing was an effortless task and therefore my interest was little to none when it came to partaking in the activities outside of the classroom because of my household centered around schooling. I figured my mother could do enough studying for the both of us. I would go to school and work on school work. I d come home to my mother and her focused on her school work. This poem is based on families throughout the war, making sense of their loved one s death. While they are overcome with grief and sorrow, they have an overwhelming sense of appreciation for what their loved one had achieved in fighting for the country. Chaplain Jim Cosgrove has portrayed Australians as being very sacrificial, resilient, courageous, this can be seen through several examples in the poem. In addition to that, throughout the poem it can be seen that the poet believes mate ship is a fundamental aspect of the Australian identity. Their courage and belief are even stronger than their grief that their sacrifice is for a worthy cause. This example, in lines 13 and 14, shows the poets views of Australians, that they are brave, courageous and sacrificial. This is reflected in the Australian identity and supports Australia s dominant cultural values. Another examples of this is in lines 23 24, In the history of their nation there are many generations whose sacrifice has made our country free. Businesses is one of the reasons a country is wealthy or not. They meet the basic needs and the luxuries of everyday life. Though there are a lot of sole proprietor businesses in America, we also have a fairly large sum of international business. International businesses have barriers and trade agreements in order to make them more successful. In order to have a good international business, you need some basic strategies. One of them is to Build a broader customer base ( International Business Strategies ). If you accomplish this, then you will have more people paying for your product. That s a higher demand for whatever you are selling, which causes you to have more profits and the ability to expand your business. If you expand, you will need to hire more workers and that helps out the entire economy. Another strategy is Lower production costs by using lower priced labor abroad ( International Business Strategies ). This helps lower your overall costs and helps you lower the market price for your item so more people can buy it. That would increase demand and profits, having the same effect as the previous strategy. If you don t want to lower the market price, it s simply a bigger profit for you for every item you sell. If you were to lower the prices, it would give you an edge against the other international businesses in the particular field. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the teachings and works of the Bible, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and St. Thomas Aquinas, the interpretation of Heaven and its counterpart Hell are found in their attempt to explain the contradictory essence of God s altruistic love and the potential of eternal punishment. An analogy is made that the good tree of heaven cannot possibly bear bad fruit just like a bad tree cannot bear that of good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire. So by their fruits you will know them (Matthew 7: 19 20) indicating the tradition view of Hell being a dark, fiery, pit of depraved spirits. In the Gospel of Mark, Hell is referred to as Gehenna which is a term associated in Hebrew scripture that dictates it a place of the wicked. They will have to endure the stigma of poverty in a profoundly lopsided society where the socioeconomic standing of individuals is determined by their capacity to buy. Child benefit has been integral to the income of families throughout the UK for more than three decades now and it still prioritises poor children in the benefits and tax system. A universal child benefit programme assists in the redistribution of resources from taxation (Lewis, 2008, p. 126). Child benefit supplanted a tax allowance programme for parents, but was changed into a payment scheme due to the fact that tax allowances mostly give advantage to primary earners (Farthing, 2012, p. 4 5). Child benefit is given to the primary caregiver, generally mothers. Almost all European countries provide a universal child tax allowance or child benefit. But the UK is starting to move away from this tradition. Child benefit is a way of guaranteeing that the entire society is involved in the promotion of children s wellbeing, especially those living in poverty. But the UK government has recently reformed the child benefit scheme, away from the universal benefit model. In those few houses left relatively untouched and never remodeled, one can see the markings of the 1950s, an era of kitchens and bathrooms decorated in a monochrome of Hot Pink, just like the plastic pink lawn flamingos. In her essay, Jenniffer Price discusses the history of the flamingos in the United States and uses them as a symbol of America s culture. Through her use of diction and imagery in the essay The Plastic Pink Flamingo: A Natural History , Jennifer Price characterizes American Culture as materialistic. Jennifer Price uses diction to characterize American Culture as materialistic and thoughtless in her first and second paragraphs. To add color to her first paragraph, Price uses a variety of words including splashed , boldness , flocking , pizzaz and playful . This word choice characterizes the flamingos, and through comparison, American society as valuing glamour and consequently, wealth. In describing the new plastic flamingos Price even goes as far as to describe flamingos as synonymous with wealth , and the middle class as eager to enjoy the flamingo culture, associated with wealth. She aids her characterization by calling the flamingos souvenirs , pointless chotskies that a person brings home to show off and display their wealth. She contrasts this with the irony that flamingos in America had already gone extinct by the nineteenth century. While describing this extinction, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 39. Defense Counsel And For The Prosecution A topic of conversation that always comes up when I mention that I m doing a placement with a criminal barrister, one who works as both defence counsel and for the prosecution, is the idea of representing a client who is guilty . I m asked but what if you know that they did it? and wouldn t you feel bad if they got off? The thing is, as defence counsel these are not your concern, for the most part. I believe that it is counterproductive and unnecessary to determine the guilt of a client prior or during your time representing them, for a number of reasons that I will outline. Firstly, the burden of proof depends on the state. The prosecution, with the assistance of evidence gathered during police and /or forensic investigation, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was a drug trafficking case, and C has prior convictions for similar offences. Briefly, the drug investigation branch found C at home with almost $10,000 in cash hidden in his underwear, and flushed remnants of methamphetamine in his toilet. Nick and I were convinced that C needed to plead. However, when it got to trial, * J gave the prosecutor a particularly difficult time because, as it became evident, the prosecutor had effectively no evidence: no samples had been taken from the sink that C had allegedly used to flush drugs down. A trained police dog that had run to the bathroom, and knelt down to indicate the presence of drugs. This came an enormous shock to the courtroom. I had assumed that the prosecution had had some solid evidence to go to trial with, and I believe that Nick had similarly overlooked the lack of evidence. Nick s client was annoyed and said, You wanted me to plead guilty! By a stroke of luck, Nick s client escaped unscathed. Nick jumped on Her Honour s observations and a nolle prosequi resulted. This was a valuable lesson for me because I realized that sometimes matters that appear obvious (for example: the absence of evidence) might go unnoticed, even through a number of good hands at the DPP. It is for you, then, as a lawyer, to ensure that the state, at all stages, is held to a high standard. The flipside of this is that it must be incredibly frustrating for a prosecutor ...
